Since moving here from Texas this is been the greatest find and makes me feel like it’s a little bit of Austin., The staff couldn’t be more friendlier or knowledgeable or helpful. If they don’t have it they can get itPlease I want everyone to support this local store as this is America!, as America should be and once was.
Best place to shop for periodicals. All kinds of off beat rags and local writing. Friendly staff and they support the Detroit Tigers. Beats the heck out of the big box, chain book stores that all look the same no matter what town that youre in. This is a Kalamazoo icon. Help support this great local business.
I normally support local brick and mortar shops but I will not be shopping here, no matter how eclectic their collection is. My husband saw the ad looking for help, so he inquired within the store. The owner told him that his inquiry was unnecessary because they dont employ your kind here. He asked for clarification. She stated that she knew he and his family were homeless and that she doesnt hire bums. What a shame. He is a white man, late 40s, with a masters degree. While he may be over qualified, pointing out that her establishment didnt hire homeless individuals is unnecessary. Not every homeless person is a criminal but Kalamazoo as a whole treats them that way. How sad and disgusting.

2022-06-05A downtown gem since 1947, 2d generation family owned/managed newsstand & bookstore. Extensive international magazine selections, including: design, travel, fashion, cooking, wine & liquor, health, motorcycles & sport. Strong selection of childrens books, including Spanish language. Absolutely adore!

2021-11-13A wonderful experience on a day trip to Kalamazoo! The kind of store you dont see much anymore, stocking not only new books, but plenty of magazines, zines and scholarly journals you wont find anywhere else, plus some graphic novels and a great selection of candy/gum that really brought me back to my childhood. I came away with mags for myself, my girlfriend and friends, as well as a book Ive long wanted at a reasonable price. Happy to support a local business with a strong presence and identity! Staff were friendly as well!

2019-10-16In this day and age of the sterility of words and images locked behind a backlit, high resolution touchscreen, the first thing I noticed when I stepped in the doors of this traditional seller of newspapers, magazines, and books was the smell-the wonderful smell of paper, like the libraries of my 1970s childhood. Excellent and varied selection of magazines, paperback books both new and used. I was pleasantly surprised to see racks of comic books and graphic novels, some that I had not seen since the mid-1980s. Very friendly and helpful staff. While I love the advanced technology we have today that makes our lives smoother and easier, nothing will replace the smell and feel of holding a printed book or magazine in my hand. Great place.

2021-05-09Great small business with a fun selection of readables plus at least 3 regulars coming in for the mornings paper during our visit. Love that kind of old school community feel and cant wait to return.

2020-11-24Derek Jeter is not the only shortstop from Kalamazoo. My husbands new book, The Shortstop from Kalamazoo, The Life and Times of Neil Berry was accepted into Michigan News Agencys Creative Endeavor Project. Dean shared the origins of the project. Great Story. Be sure to ask. Signed copies of the book are in the sports section. Thank you Michigan News Agency.

2019-09-04The owner is amazing, and this really is one of the best places in Kalamazoo. They have scads of magazines, journals, books, manga, and newspapers (local and national). I prefer to buy all my magazines there.
