I have been a longtime Enterprise Rental user but maybe it is their quickly rotating mgmt. and no sense of accountability to the customers as something has been increasingly made plain in the unengaging way they engage their customers. Nuff bout them.Being a car rental user, am happy to say there is a new go-to for vehicle rental, Midway Car Rental on T.O. Blvd. Midway is tucked in and doesnt have large signage so I never really noticed them. They were recommended to me and I have shifted to renting exclusively through them. Midway is the perfect blend of a selection of new model cars with low mileage and great people to further enhance the experience. I had the pleasure of working with Manny and Adam on separate occasions and they far exceeded any expectations I had since they both were friendly, accommodating, efficient and very professional. Good selection & good people. Win Win. Top marks all the way around.

I had a long 600 Mi round trip planned, so I decided to treat myself to something nicer than my lifted pickup truck and reserved a premium sedan with Midway. When I arrived to pick up the car to my surprise it was not available but dont worry they had other cars available just twice as expensive per day. I asked if they could come down and meet me a little on the price since they were unable to accommodate my reservation and they basically told me to take a long walk on a short pier. I was having issues with my car and the warranty. It took six days to get it squared away and they gave me extra rental days. Comment: Earlier this year I got a loaner car from them via Rusnak BMW. Sam was very professional and got me in and out quickly. The car I got was clean and in excellent condition. After returning it a couple days later, check-in was quick and easy. Loree was our shuttle driver who took me back to Rusnak - very pleasant and didnt have to wait long for the ride back. Will definitely consider them for any future rental needs.Last week I got another loaner from Midway via Rusnak. Joe was very helpful checking me in and getting me on the way. Comment: I am staying in SoCal to help a friend whose husband died earlier this year. My husband drove me out from NM with all the things I needed for a lengthy stay. When my friends car broke down, I said I would rent a car for us while hers was being repaired. Based upon the various glowing reviews, I opted to try renting from Midway. Unfortunately, *I* could Not rent from Midway because I had an out of state drivers license and *no return airplane ticket.* I explained I didnt fly out and had no return ticket because I was uncertain how many months I would be staying with my friend. However, without either an airplane ticket for my arrival or an airplane ticket for my departure, I could not rent from Midway.Fortunately, I had brought my friend along as the second driver. She had a local drivers license, a copy of her auto insurance, *and a secondary proof of residency* (her Costco card -- which had no address on it!). She also had to pay with *her* credit card. I could *not* charge it to my card because *they were not renting to me.* I was thankful I hadnt driven to SoCal, had *my* car break down and tried to rent a car during repairs. I *couldnt because I had no plane ticket.* Other restrictions that were brought to light during the contract signing was that no animals were allowed in the car, so hopefully we wont have to take her sick pet to the vets until her car is repaired.The staff at the Midway in Thousand Oaks, CA was pleasant. The manager tried to explain that the restrictions were introduced during COVID by the corporate office and they didnt like them. The extra driver fees (also not mentioned when I made the reservation) were waived, and they got the car to us even though we showed up an hour early (so our ride to the office could make a work meeting). The car looked brand new inside and out. I had no problems with the staff. Our agent even gave his card to my friend to call him directly the next time she wished to rent a car (and stated it would be easier than using the online reservation system). He also assured her it would be faster because he had all of her information in his system now.However, the lack of sufficient and clear information on the website regarding restrictions and necessities to bring for rental is appalling. Especially since there are so many limitations and restrictions, some of which are irrational. In addition, having made my reservation online, it was terribly confusing where and how I was picking up the car. All the information on the website confirmation spoke of shuttle pickups and LAX. Our location *was not even on* the list of locations on the website reservation confirmation page. Id prepared to get up early and call the local Midway office at 8 AM to get clarification, but the confirmation *email* stated pickup and dropoff were indeed at the local office.So as long as a) your are a SoCal resident with a secondary proof of residency like a utility bill or Costco card, or b) have a plane ticket with arrival and/or departure flight information, plus drivers license, proof of insurance, and credit card (No Debit cards as the website and all communication with them states repeatedly), and c) are not traveling with a pet, you may like using Midway Car Rental. The staff is very pleasant and the cars are in great shape.Alas, I guess Ill be calling Enterprise to see if they will let me rent a car the next time my friends car is in the shop.

Comment: Ive used Midway Car rental in Thousand Oaks three times now, my dealership pays for my rental when my vehicle is in service. The staff here is really friendly and not your typical big brand car rental company. These people are always smiling and treat you good, unlike the big name rentals where you walk in and they avoid eye contact until necessary. I like how they didnt pressure me or make me feel like Im making a bad decision by not buying their insurance, the big brand places really try hard to make you pay for insurance that my coverage takes care of and is not necessary. I was helped by Sam Orellana and he was really fast and very easy to deal with. When I returned the vehicle Loree received the vehicle and provided the ride back to the dealership. Loree is really friendly and I hope to work with both of them again.If you want an easy friendly experience check out Midway Car Rental, its not the annoying experience you usually have at the big name brand places.

Loree has the sweetest personality and really makes you feel comfortable. She gave me detailed information about the process of renting a car and made me feel at ease about the whole process. Once I got to Midway Sam really made everything so simple and easy. Even though they were swamped, he was all smiles and made the whole process very easy.Ive rented cars before and this was by far the fastest, most convenient, and easy experience Ive had.Thank you Loree and Sam! Josh also gave helpful answers when I called with questions. Very minor issues: not clear that signing in was necessary when entering the office, and the tablet computer glitched a little while I was signing the contract. Overall good experience.

Comment: This review is strictly for Midway as a loaner car from the dealership, which rented me a car during a long, multi-week repair. So I don’t know how the actual rates compare since they covered it. But that being said, I dealt with Joshua, Adam, Manny, and Loree gave me a ride back to the dealer at the end. Everyone was chill and professional and I had a modern Chevy compact SUV which was clean and performed w/o issue. No complaints.

Comment: This place is the worst. Adam Garcia has the worst attitude. The service is complete trash. This place tried to charge me $35 for .08 gallons of fuel used. They claimed the car was given to me FULL of gas. The needle was just below the FULL line and that is the way I returned it. Once they said the charge was $35 for gas on a car driven 26 miles. I had to fill it up past the place they gave it to me at. The cost was $5.97 not even a gallon of gas. And yet they wanted to charge me $35. This after I had hooked up the rep with buying their BOGUS insurance for $17 just the day before. The service here is garbage and you would be better off using TURO. Go check out the TURO app that is Air BNB for cars. Stay away from this whole in the wall. Thank you Adam Garcia for being less than customer service oriented.

Comment: I took my Palisade into Westlake Hyundai for service and they didn’t have any loaner cars left so I was transported to Midway Car Rental. All they were offering me was a Toyota Corolla or I could pay $10 more for a Camry. I agreed and was on my way in the Camry. Had the car two days, according to my calendar, but ended up with a charge on my Amex for $32.18. When I called Midway I was informed that I picked up the car before noon on a Wednesday and returned it after noon on Friday, so three days. Really?? Not something I had control over as my Palisade was not ready until after noon so I paid an additional days rental for three hours.

Comment: Im very disappointed with this company. I am a 100% Service connected veteran and had to rent a car when my car was in the shop. I had my service dog with me and informed them she was a service dog. They charged me a $250 cleaning fee for my pet despite me telling them she was a service dog. I called to inform them she was a service dog and the manager told me that I still should have taken it to get cleaned. I informed him that was actually a violation of the ADA and the law clearly states they are not authorized to charge cleaning fees for Service dogs. He told me too bad and hung up on me. Very disappointing way to treat our disabled vets.

Comment: Rented from this Company called Midway about a year ago at a location near my office in LA and service was AMAZING! I live in Simi and due to the poor quality and horrible service of the auto rental companies in Simi I decided to drive to a neighbor city to get a rental for my dad while his truck is being repaired, I found out there’s a Midway in TO, so made an appointment hoping to get the memorable service I got from them last year at the other LA location. Guess what? They even exceeded the expectations, even better than my previous time. I called to verify and confirmed my online reservation and a lady answered the phone with an outstanding demeanor (sad I dnt recall her name), once I arrived I was provided with the vehicle I booked which was very clean and in great condition, but the best of all was the service given to us by Adam, his service is so good that you don’t expect to find that at a rental place. 4 days after I called the company again because I had to extend the rental due to body shop not done w/ repairs yet, and I got another gentlemen on the phone, not sure if his name was Tyler maybe not, something with a T but he immediately knew who I was and extended the rental: Easy, Painless, Friendly… Fast. Now I see is not one location but the whole company has a very customer-quality oriented philosophy. They have amazing rates and are definitely hiring the right people. Thank You Midway for solving my problem with the quality I deserve specially after I walked away from 2 rental companies in Simi for trying to rent me pieces of junk with a horrible attitude, you guys are worth the drive.
