Went for dinner.. Nice restaurant. I had truffle fries the crab cakes and the firecracker shrimp . The crab cakes were very mushy and I couldnt taste anything but panko not delicious at all and no flavor and the fire cracker shrimp.. I understand its supposed to be blackened but mine was charred. I had them send it back and make another and it came out almost the exact same way. I couldnt finish it because it was just burnt taste in my mouth. BF had the vegan lasagna and said it was delicious. The drinks were good but no rush to go back.
An upscale spot on Michigan Ave with beautiful interior and outdoor seating!Pros:Great for meat-loversGood locationFriendly serverCons:My vegan quinoa cake was horrible! Just two store-bought vegan patties sandwiching a tasteless salad. I cant believe it was as expensive as it was.
First time there, awesome atmosphere! Avery, the bartender had great energy!💖 All his recommendations were spot on! Food was phenomenal! My husband had the Ribeye & au gratin potatoes. I had crab cakes & raw oysters for an appetizer (oysters were missing saltine crackers, for me theyre definitely a must) However, they were still good with the fresh grated horseradish on top) The crab Mac & cheese was very yummy! Drinks were so refreshing 🍸 The Berry Bramble was absolutely delicious!! Well definitely be returning customers ❤️
This place is a must eat if you are in Dearborn. The food is amazing the servers are fast and courteous and the deserts are to die for.We went all out trying different items on the menu and spent about $100 per person. The portions of food were large and well worth the price. We had a ton of left overs. Hats off to the great chefs working in the back. The steaks were melt in your mouth delicious. The crab mac n cheese was soo creamy and flavor packed the lobster was seasoned perfectly with a sweet savory flavor. And if you like good drinks I ordered the lemon drop martini its not on the menu but they make it perfectly and strong.
When I telling God is good he is.To make the best out of a good night we went to @Mint29 a fusion restaurant. They were booked with no open tables, but the hostess cleared off the bar so we could sit and enjoy the night. Our server name was George (good guy but I forgot to leave a tip) he did an excellent job. He was patient and didnt rush us (im chef so i want it how I ask) took his time to explain all our questions. We had crab cakes and steak tips, Delicious! I struck up a conversation withvthe gentlemen next to me about his business and how it flooded. Now we ate our apps and dinner were getting ready to settle up (now my bill got to be a $150) and the guy who I had a conversation with paid for our whole meal. Now didnt I tell you God was good.Ok now when I tell this story again God gone still be great but her 👗is what got us the free food! #bussit
I’ve spent thousands at this restaurant and today was the last time. I specifically asked for a medium well steak with it a bit pink and it came back very well done. When I requested to have one the way I asked the chef came to my table and said “next time order it medium plus if you want it that way” and returned my steak to me. I never expect perfection but I expect to be accommodated when you come for one thing, the steaks. I would’ve given a 1 star but the waiter was polite. His reasoning for not making me a new one was because it’d be a waste of a steak even though it went untouched. I never care for refunds I just come for the same experience every time and today proved that mistakes are on the customer.
This restaurant is seriously so good. The food is AMAZING. I went there on a whim not expecting anything special and I was blown away, every single thing we got was delicious. The drinks were so yummy and huge. I am actually considering coming here for a second day in a row because its THAT GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!
I was really excited to try this new restaurant that I came across I called and asked if I could place a reservation for 12, Nadine the manager was extremely rude and accidentally put six for the reservation instead of 12 When we arrive we had to wait over 45 minutes for a table. When we finally ordered the food was terrible the stakes were burnt to a crisp and extremely dry, I ordered a mid well Burger and when I got my plate there was blood oozing from both sides of the burger dripping down my plate I was completely disgusted when I approached the manager she told me that the burger was cooked to perfection she denied to remake my burger. She was very rude and handling the situation and had no sympathy or even to fix this problem. My son ordered a burger as well he wanted his well done and it was pink, he got very sick that night from food poisoning this will be the last time I ever come to this restaurant and I suggest anyone who orders to make sure the food is properly cooked.
Nice vibes, good decor, food was delicious, but bad experience.Unfortunately we had a mediocre experience. The roasted potatoes on my dates dish, had raw pieces. When one of the servers {black shirt, curly hair}, he told my date to not apologize and that they will fix it in a very awkward and busy manner. Even by the time we left, the potatoes were not fixed and we honestly wanted to get out. That same evening, the server had spilled my drink; then again had water spilled on me by the server. I am okay with the servers mistakes, weve all made small mistakes. He apologized. But I am not okay with the kitchen not fixing the order.Tipped 20%, but wont be returning.
Mint 29 is our go to place when I’m in town. We love the food and the atmosphere. The food is always on point and never disappoints. The service is always great, we have been there over 10 times and never had a bad interaction, great and friendly staff. Their cappuccino’s are delicious! Highly recommend reservations prior to planning on heading over.
I just found out that this place is called Mint 29 because in 1929 they used to make coins there which is a pretty cool fact. The food is always delicious. I usually going with the new york strip steak and a disassembled salad (I think thats what its called) and its always on point. will always come here
Was actually super excited to try this restaurant out being that I never heard of it before and was set for an interview that was scheduled at 4:45pm I arrived early told the host I was there to meet with Nadine , she told me to take a seat because she was in an interview with someone else 20 minutes went by the bartender come to me saying Nadine wouldn’t be in because of an emergency at another location I knew something was weird leaving out so I decided to call and ask for Nadine just for her to still be in the store saying she had to make a quick run for the kitchen the whole situation was very unprofessional definitely would not be returning I took a 40 minute drive just to not be given a chance .
Just left Mint 29 where me and my husband had an early date night. The setup inside the restaurant was very nice, similar to an upscale bar kind of feel. Our server was attentive and we were seated as soon as we got there since I had a reservation. My husband ordered lamb chops which came with rice and he added a salad. I ordered the rib eye steak with a side salad and truffle crab mac and cheese and it was all delicious 😋. Most items on the menu are a la carte so you have to add it individually unless it states otherwise. Overall a great experience and delicious food. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
In advance, the review is based on the price vs an expectation.Food was good. The crab cakes were amazing. Ive not had many 50 dollar steaks in my life, but this while not bad, was not the best 50 dollar steak Ive had. I can get similar flavor/texture parity with sous vide/smoker for way less.My gf ordered an off menu drink (I think so at least, she asked for a mimosa). It was mediocre, but thats probably expected if its not on menu. The mules however were fantastic. Ive had a 15 dollar mule, and that was a 15 dollar mule.We got a window seat, which felt nice. Now from here, Id give it 4 star and still call it a little over priced I think.I feel like I get to ding you a full two stars on this though. It seems dinky, but youre selling me an aesthetic (because the food is a little pricey vs quality, but again not the worst). They had these like cheap printed coasters that was poorly cut cardboard. They either need to find a better coaster, or even just get rid of it. Then they have the menu with the QR code. First, for that price, you can maintain the menus. But if you must have the QR code, at least make it look better. So tacky to have a slip of paper that looks like they cut it in the back from the office printer. Spend 20 bucks at FedEx and print qr codes with a logo.
Dined in for a pharmaceutical meeting, appetizers was the best and variety and fusion was a blend. Loved the steak portion and excellent service, very pleasant welcoming staff. Only draw back was too noisy from other side so couldn’t listen to the speaker so much. The place was full and this is the second time, so over all I loved the place. Lot of parking available in the back area .
I would give this place a 10! The food is amazing! Everything tastes fresh and cooked just right! No undercooked no overcooked dishes. I have tried multiple items at this place and their portions are perfect! The atmosphere and cleanliness of the place is almost a 10, it’s very cozy. The service is actually pretty amazing! Our server would come to check on us frequently and he is very fast, didn’t forget a thing! The food came out on a moderate pace and the representation of the dishes is very neat and creative. The bathrooms are also clean but the soap bottles was broken. I loved my experience at this place overall!
Love love love it! Everything we ordered was delicious and fresh. Freshly made and fresh ingredients. Thats very important to me when I go out to eat. Black cod was fresh and delicious, truffle crab mac and cheese delicious, beef tenderloin and mushrooms delicious, quinoa delicious, Crab Cakes fresh and delicious even the side salad was simple but delicious. My new favorite restaurant, will definitely be coming back and telling everyone about this joint.
Decided to try something new yesterday evening with my brother. The place has a hipster vibe and rustic look. Food was phenomenal and our waiter was very helpful. The ribeye and zip sauce was amazing and the fried kalamari strips were perfect! Best Ive had. Will be back for date night !
Be prepared to wait +30 minutes for your food. Also notice your recipe will say they charge an additional 8.5 % tax ontop of the 6% sales tax.🤷♂️?? Why do I need to pay to eat here 🤣🤣 sorry I forgot about the rude assistant manager lady with the terrible attitude when I asked why I am paying an additional 8.5 % tax
Amazing experience and great food. The Mint29 salad was very unique and erotodelicious. The Japanese Kobe beef sliders were amazing. The BBQ salmon was perfect. And the chicken sandwich was flirtatious. Service was smooth and fast. Everything was perfect. The place needs deserts!
Came from the far west side of Ann Arbor to attend a 60th Birthday Celebration for a relative on a Monday evening. For this to be called an upscale fusion restaurant it was NOT impressive at all. The service and food was below average. What upscale restaurant does not serve fresh bread and butter as part of the meal? The menu selections were very limiting nothing was appealing. Ordered filet mignon with a side of mushrooms and airline chicken. The beef was tough and the chicken was dry and flavorless. The waiter was scattered, had no insight of the menu and fumbled with the electronic tablet he used to take payments. Im sorry to say that this place wont last long in this very competitive business if they dont make much needed changes.
Excellent Presentation. Befittingly an upscale worthy. Very Good Ambiance. I had the Eggplant Sandwich. It was really crafted well. Very good taste. But Unfortunately, very very less vegetarian Options. I would love to come again given there are more veggie options. Management should really take note of this.
First visit here. Really nice atmosphere. We noticed One of the cups was cracked. The waitress brought us another one really quickly and apologized. Good save. I wanted the ceviche & oysters but I was informed that they had sold out. I ended up getting• Dry aged ribeye medium (great flavors and very tender)• Calamari with a seaweed salad (great).• Tri-color potatoes (very bland, absolutely nothing on them)• Caprese, which had a different name (soo good!)All in all, I loved this place. Our waitress was super nice and knowledgable also. Ill be back!
I was really looking forward to come here and try some halal steak but I was pretty disappointed.Service was excellent, but the steak wasnt anything exciting. The tartar was awesome but my steak was chewy and had some silver skin, which is very uncharacteristic for a filet mignon. 3 of us were there to order and we all had upset stomachs the following day. I think they need to cook their garlic more because we were in so much pain from cramps. It gets a 2 star because its priced like a fancy steakhouse when it isnt there yet. The steaks at Andiamos are better, as well as other steakhouses that are similarly priced.
Steaks tasted bland!! Not what I expected at all. Ive had steaks at many places. This wouldnt even make it to the top 20!! We ordered 3 Ribeye and 1 filet mignon cooked medium, one came right and 2 were medium rare. The filet was well done instead of medium!! No taste of flavor. I had to add a ton of salt. The sauce had mild flavor too. The fries were too salty. The mash potatoes were okay. We made reservations yet we still had to wait about 20 minutes standing at the tiny entrance.
Just Delicious. Went to Mint 29 with a GF for the 1st. We couldnt decide what to order because everything looked good, so we shared several appetizers. The Oysters were incredibly fresh, the crab cakes were delightful and shrimp were amazing. The 29 salad was good as well. Kelli (bartender) made several suggestions of things to try after asking what we should order. Kelli was a great bartender and waitress, she was polite, professional and very informative about the menu options. I will defintely return to try other things.
Without any doubt this place only for Richass..Students better to keep distance from mint 29..Coz we students barely paid 9-15/hr we don’t have any rights to give them full of hour hard work as their tips if we do that the waitress who says herself a manager would ask you, “in what sense you’ve gave me less tips!?” So Tips will no longer be according to our choice. In their opinion, We did ridiculous because of less tips although we spent more then 200$ on foods and they called theirselves well mannered employees..Whoever love such behavior can chill over there and eat.
A group of 6 went in last night. We ordered several dishes including 2 of the same cuts of steak, one medium the other mid-rare. They were NOTHING alike. One was a beautiful cut cooked perfectly. The other looked like 2 dogs fought over it after a car ran it over. The fact they severed that cut is shocking. If this was my establishment that cut of meat would have never left the kitchen. Hell, I wouldn’t have wrestled it away from the dogs. We also ordered the $165 Wagyu Tomahawk steak and it left a lot to be desired from a flavor perspective. The rest of the food was good, but I don’t think this place is worth the money.
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner here! We came early because we didn’t have reservations and they did not disappoint! Our server, Avery, was attentive, friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. I had the surf and turf special and my husband had the NY strip. Crab Mac and cheese was on point! Our desserts were amazing (carrot cake cheesecake and brown butter cake OMG). Definitely give this place a try! We will definitely be back :)
Cute atmosphere, nice outdoor seating but food is nothing more than mediocre. Asked for medium well and my fillet was cooked medium rare. Calamari came with wilted arugula as a garnish. At a restaurant like this, everything on the plate should be fresh and edible even it it’s for “decor”.
Food is absolutely amazing. Very unique menu options, wish they had more chicken options but still really good. Ordered the Airline chicken which was delicious and the creme brûlée was very good as well! Place is a little pricey both during lunch and especially dinner. Not an everyday place, but great experience for a night out or special occasions.
Would give zero stars if able because we got zero service! Horrible lack of service. We were seated right away. However, we were not served water, a menu, or greated by waitstaff in the thirty minutes we sat at our seats. Plenty of staff walking around serving other patrons. Presumably the hostess never notified a server that they were to take care of us. Multiple staff completely oblivious to us.
Ok so update to my original review, the first time my wife and I ate here we enjoyed it for the most part and it was a solid 8.5 out of 10. But just today we purchased a steak Filet mignon medium rare to go only to be served a piece of raw meat (pictured below) Now I like my steak a little redder than most but it was as if was just a hunk of raw meat. I loved the food last time but on this occasion I was really let down. Be careful when you decide to get a steak from here.
Was hear last night to visit a friend that I had not seen in 15 years. Perfect place! Great food and atmosphere…..and their BUTTER CAKE dessert is to die for! Service was a bit slow but that appears to be a pandemic related issue…..the waiter was extremely nice so that made up for the wait. Highly recommend.
-100000 stars, the manager is extremely disrespectful and made my sister cry. She Personally victimized her for wanting her tomahawk steak cooked a bit more. Imagine expecting a formal delicious dinner and the manager of the restaurant assumes you cannot afford it and bad mouths both guests, absolutely atrocious and foul service! The waiter was absolutely amazing but the manager made it a traumatizing experience
Our first visit and it won’t be our last. Mint 29 was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere was incredible. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. Our server, Lauren, was over the top awesome. THE FOOD......... the best we’ve ever had. Filets melted in your mouth like butter!!!Potato’s and carrots superb. DESSERT...... wellllllll, just roll us out the door!!!! Absolutely amazing desserts. Kudos to Everyone that makes the amazing place successful!!
We have gone at least once or twice every year since open. Just went recently. The menu is tired, no updates since open. No new entrees, no specials (that I have ever seen). Selecting from the same few entrees every time has become boring. The NY strip was one of the best I had ever had a few years ago but the quality has been declining every year. Now it is overly salted and always over cooked. Price no longer matches the quality. We are done eating there until they make some menu changes and the quality returns. Not bad by any means but I can spend the same money elsewhere and get a better meal. Hoping things pick back up. Service is always good though
It is hard to believe that this place is rated the way it is. everyone at the table ordered different entrees and all equally agreed that the food was particularly bad (and we are not too picky of people). chicken and vegetables dry & burnt, salad greens old, tuna available at outback for the same quality 10 dollars less. their craft cocktails are ridiculously overpriced and made as though you are at a dive bar (no measuring & corner store ingredients). its possible we had one bad experience, but it was bad enough to warrant not going back again
Went to mint 29 based on decent reviews. Service was good, tomahawk steak was ordered med rare was brought back well done. manager argued with me saying it was medium, not even medium rare as I ordered, which I was offended by the guy even arguing with me in public. Next I sent it back and it was brought back rare, like raw rare, I sent it back again and it was raw again. Again they took it back and it was well done. I told the restaurant to keep it as I was getting to much unwanted notoriety. I left with sides for home as I just wanted to get out of here. Go only if you dont want a good steak
We got to request an igloo, it was nice and warm. Our server was amazing! The food was wonderful! They had two space heaters in the igloo and it was toasty. Maybe bring a blanket just incase its a colder night. They definitely keep to a strict schedule so dont plan to linger long but thats is very much appreciated. We forgot our time length and we were kindly reminded that the next party was there. Highly recommend! Oh and if you like whiskey, check out their own creation of a Manhattan, delicious!
This weekend I celebrated my birthday with six of my friends at Mint29. I was super excited to eat lamb chops and to drink and be merry!!! I thought I had picked a place where spending my hard-earned cash would be worth it and that I would be able to create great memories. Sadly, I was super disappointed by the service my friends and I received. For it to be my birthday just made it worse!!! We were seated right away which was great! However, our waiter Avery didn’t even bring us water or take our drink order until 30 minutes after we were seated. I asked for ten jalapeño slices for each guest (the pickled ones) and they couldn’t provide that and never gave an explanation why but, ok! So then I asked for olives. I was charged $1.50 per person for the olives that took forever to arrive at the table. On a Friday night, they had no Lamb even though they knew they ran out of it yesterday and that is their speciality on the menu. The mac and cheese was bland and that is being polite, extremely polite. Then everyone ordered a medium steak yet somehow a well done steak ended up at the table. I just was expecting a more coordinated and pleasurable experience and I did not get that at all and I would not recommend.
The food was delicious and portions were more than enough and service was above and beyond, the cocktail drinks were wimpy and served in small portions. I recommend reserving the last time slot of the night, so you’re not being asked to hurry and leave for the next reservation.
A decent steakhouse. Interior is small and seating is metal chairs, but is nice enough. Some things on the menu are pretty good including: meatballs, bread, crab cakes, crab mac and cheese, and roasted potatoes. The main attraction are the steaks. Overall cooked well and finely seasoned but can be tough to chew at times.Prices are high and some of the side portions are small. 15$ for 3 tiny crab cakes! If you are a big steak fan then check it out, if not just go somewhere else.
My daughter and I loved the beautiful atmosphere. Very cool. We enjoyed delicious array of appetizers like the fresh burrata, a light and citrus forward ceviche an Asian inspired tuna poke and a yummy olive n cheese board. We are from NJ, delivering my daughter to college and were impressed by the restaurant scene here in Dearborn as well as Detroit.
Wonderful food of the highest quality with the friendliest of staffs. The only reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is the lack of ease in making reservations. There is no Open Table option and when using the restaurants website, reservations can only be made through a Gmail account. This is weird and inconvenient.
Ordered carry out a few days ago. Employees were not wearing gloves or masks, very unprofessional staff and the food tasted like it was old and had been sitting a while. Understandable we’re in a shutdown state, will try again when there’s dine in available. Very good google reviews not sure what happened to my order.
Went here for a early dinner with my Grandmother. The menu wasnt that exciting to us, there didnt seem to be much to choose from if you dont want steak or seafood.I ended up with the chicken citron and she got the crab cake appetizer and the southwestern soup. We both really enjoyed the food. It was plated prettily and tasted great.Service was just okay, especially since we were only one of two tables. I liked the decor and really enjoyed the bathrooms, lol, which is an odd thing to say.We likely wont be back, but mostly because I dont like seafood or steak and its on the pricey side. So, Im not really the target audience, which is something to keep in mind when reading this review.
Food was good especially the brussel sprouts, drinks were also good. Wouldve given a five if our waiter wasnt also been the bartender. They also werent following the social distancing rules. There was a party of at least 10 people and as the night went on they werent leaving a empty table between parties.
Chris was an excellent, knowledgeable, and fun server. The restaurant was clean, chic, and offered a great variety of food. We enjoyed everything we tried. We have yet to try the cheesecake we took home after being too full to eat anymore but being told the white chocolate raspberry cheesecake was too good to pass up.
I went yesterday for a birthday dinner in the igloos and it was outstanding!! The igloos were warm and toasty which was a super plus because several other places we’ve been to it was really cold and made it miserable. Now let’s review the food OMG soo delicious. I had the 21 prime burger, truffle fries and crab Mac and cheese it was amazing, others had the lamb chops, salmon and ribeye all were outstanding! The waiter was sooo great as well. I love this place and we will return!
I surprised my wife on her birthday by taking here for dinner. I had made reservations, although they werent needed for a Tuesday evening, (not sure about any other day). We were greeted promptly and given our choice of table to sit at. The server was very nice and patient with us taking forever to decide on drinks. The food was good, the crab mac n cheese is awesome. Overall Id say we had a good time and would visit again.
We went here on a Tuesday evening. Not too busy, maybe 70% of the tables were occupied. Our waitress was very nice but the service was extremely slow. It seems she was also working behind the bar, but they had more than enough wait staff for the number of customers.Eventually we got our order in, and again the food took an exceptionally long time to come out. The appetizers and entrees were delicious. The tiramisu we ordered for dessert however was an absolute disaster. Mostly whipped cream with a soupy mess on the bottom. I would avoid it.
My wife and I visited for the first time on my birthday since we were in town to see some exhibits at the Henry Ford Museum. The hostess and wait staff were all very friendly and helpful and even complimented our meal choices. We each had the 16 oz. rib eye with fried calamari strips as an appetizer, a side of the crab truffle mac and cheese, and the dessert the waiter recommended, which was a unique and delicious take on apple pie ala mode. The food was excellent and the decor and ambiance were great. Two musicians joined the restaurant late for some live music. The bill was about what we expected - an upscale meal and great environment that, while relatively more expensive than the steakhouses we frequent, was well worth it. Highly recommended.
Casey and the rest of the staff at Mint 29 went out of their way to accommodate my large party. The entire team was not only incredibly professional but also knowledgeable and charming and were able to provide recommendations on the menu. Food was fantastic and portion sizes were excellent.
Came here for the first time tonight. Great atmosphere. We both had salads to start, I had the catch of the day (halibut) my boyfriend had the ribeye. Everything was cooked perfectly. We decided to finish with a couple more drinks and dessert. This is where it went downhill, no one checked on us after we got our dessert, my boyfriend thought that he was served the wrong drink but we could not get our servers attention, he kept walking by but we couldn’t get him to come to our table. We finished our dessert and then were just sitting there for probably 15 minutes just waiting for someone to clear our plate and we still weren’t able to get our servers attention. We didn’t see a manager anywhere to flag down. Honestly at that point we’re just ready to get out of there. Our server finally came by and asked if we were ready for our bill and then we were able to tell him about the drink. I feel like the food is great, the service is great for the most part, but maybe the wait staff needs to have some more training on alcohol and to check on your tables after they get dessert. I would give this restaurant another chance. A bit pricey and would have felt like it was worth the $$$$$$$ we spent if we weren’t completely ignored for the last 20 min we were there.
Calling was a joke the hostess said phone isnt working correctly. Website isnt accurate either. But it appeared you will always need a reservation which is just fine. I ordered 16 Oz. Ribeye and it was magical. Cooked to absolute perfection. My girl ordered the tuna and she said was heaven. The staff and food was spot on. Very loud in there almost had to yell to communicate with my date. Food very expensive. Not ment to fill you up i think. Was a bit surprised to see absolutely no sides came with my $45 steak. But ordered a few anyways. Menu limited but guessing everything on there they have mastered. Id definitely go back next time I am in the area and have $120 to blow for a solid dinner.
What an amazing restaurant. The ambience is wonderful and the interior decorations are hip and elegant at the same time. Our server, Jesse, was phenomenal and recommended a great appetizer.I would recommend the Filet Mignon and Jesse recommended the Black Tiger Shrimp, which did not disappoint! They also have great happy hour specials and a separate lunch menu. You can bet we will be back!
The food was amazing. We stopped in on a Saturday night. It was very busy but such a fun night out. We got the chicken citron with scallop potatos. My husband and i order a salad the chicken and get a side of scallop potatoes. The portions are generous. Love this place!
We went to Mint29 for lunch for my birthday. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The place is neat, and had a sophisticated look. Generous portions for the price you pay. We ordered a French onion soup, the sliders, and the poke bowl. The sliders were juicy and the buns were soft, the poke bowl was refreshing delicious. Definitely catering to the professionals or more mature crowd.
I have been trying to post this review for over a month now, but Googles algorithm seems to find something inappropriate in it and does not allow this review to show up on the business page. I have contacted Google multiple times and they give me the same answer each time. I will keep posting this until it is public:SUMMARY: Mediocre quality food, BAD customer serivce.Where to begin...Having been to Prime 29 in the recent past and hearing great things about Mint 29, me and a couple friends decided to give this place a shot. All three of us had steak (specifically the New York Strip) and grilled asparagus, and it was nothing short of mediocre. In fact, my cousins homemade steak tasted much better, in my opinion. As for the grilled asparagus, it was raw and not cooked to perfection. A group of 3, and the bill ran us $200, which was expected, but what we did not expect was bad quality food. (3/5)Heres where it gets worse:For me personally, 60-70% of my experience is based on hospitality and environment. We had a reservation for 7:00 on a Saturday evening for 3. It is understandable that that is a busy time and there is a possibility for things not to be optimal. But bear with me...We were seated on a small table on which you can barely seat 2. (Again, there were 3 of us). And yes, as previous reviews mention, we were sitting on metal chairs. It was extremely uncomfortable. I barely had room to place my drink. But they were crowded, ok fine. Our waiter, Nick, started off on a good note. He greeted us, brought us our drinks, took our order, did the basics. In the meantime, we were told by another lady, who I believe was one of the hostesses, that we have a two hour time limit at the table. Ok fine.We waited approximately 45 minutes to one hour for our food, in which time Nick approached us just once saying the food will be here shortly. Ok fine. Our food was brought to us and we began eating. I already mentioned my experience with the food itself so I wont bring it up again. However, here is the crux of the story. Nick was waiting another table right next to us. He came to check up on them on multiple occasions. He even stood there and conversated with them for a few minutes. But he did not approach our table EVEN ONCE. He literally walked right passed our table as I stared right at him and then turned my gaze towards my friends in awe. I could not believe it. Prior to entering the restaurant, I literally told my friends, Guys, Im feeling good today. Im going to take care of the waiter/waitress. as I entered the restaurant with a smile. But this... this just broke my heart. I could not even finish my food. I sat there in wonder and disgust. When Nick came to our table to take our plates, guess what? Not one word. Just picked up the plates and left. The second time he came to take the remaining plates, SAME thing. While he was leaving, we asked him for the bill, and he brought it on his next trip back, placed it on the table, and again, he did not say a word to us.Ill end it here for the sake of not going on and on. But this experience was just heart breaking. There are hundreds of restaurants better than this one, regardless of what you are looking to eat. Since we had the steak and I can personally comment on that, I will say that places like Prime 29 and LA Bistro serve much better steak. In fact, the worst steak I had at Prime 29 is ten times better than the steak I had here. Not to mention, the service and environment at other places are a minimum one hundred times better.I might be back in the near future to give them another chance, just because there are so many positive reviews which do not make any sense to me based on my experience. I will update this review if I do so.
I came to this restaurant with my toddler son which I have before. I’ve noticed that the restroom does not have a changing table in it. The restroom is small, with only two stalls. However, most restaurants will have a changing table on the wall of the disability assessable stall. I decided to ask the manager if they have ever thought about putting a changing table in that stall. His reply was the restaurant is not meant to be child friendly.😡 I know families go there with their young children. For him not to even consider putting a changing table in the bathroom because the restaurant is not “kid friendly” is bias against those with younger children. Even if that isn’t your targeted demographic they should still be accommodating. Very rude, and closed minded. Too bad because otherwise it would have been a good experience.
Great food, friendly service, cozy, nice decor and atmosphere. Live how they restored some on the original building in the decor.I came mid afternoon after lunch rush and was starving. Was by myself and in a hurry with limited time to get back to work so sat at bar. There were others already sitting at bar so presummed someone there to provide service. Would have given 5 stars but no one attending to bar so service was slow
Good food and a neat venue. I enjoyed the chicken citron with a side of parmesan garlic truffle fries and a 20 oz. Norms IPA. The chicken was moist, and the sides were certainly flavorful. Im usually not a fan of truffle oil on anything, but they used it sparingly, and the fries were actually quite good. All in all, I would go back if I am in the area again, and I would recommend anyone to go.
Fun building that was originally a bank ( thus the name). Outstanding food! Everything our party ate tasted fantastic. Great service, friendly staff. My drink, W Dearborn Lemonade was so good! My lamb chops were cooked just like I asked. We have a new favorite restaurant!
Well curated food and cocktail menu. Food was generally delicious. Try the tenderloin tips, parmesan fries or the calamari which were all amazing. Tiger shrimp was ok but a little tough. Bread board was overpriced but passable.Service was friendly but somewhat inattentive. We had a large group and frequently had to flag a server to order drinks, food, and the bill.Overall the good outweighs the bad and I will be back for the creative menu and good quality food.
The food was excellent but this place charges way too much for food. A piece of fish with some cabbage should not be $30 and a side of fries should not be another $7. Thats my only real problem though. The food was quite good and they have a good, albeit small, selection of craft beers on tap.
Holy smokes I think that was the best fish dish I’ve had in a very, very long time. My boyfriend loved the killer chicken. We came here for my birthday and neither of us were disappointed. I absolutely love the look of the place with the exposed brick and beautiful ceilings. Kind of a pricy place, but it’s perfect for a date night or special occasion and you won’t be disappointed.
The service is great, bartenders are cool too. Drinks and cocktails are tasty and mixed well. The food is just ok. Its a bit hit or miss. Its pretty tasty but some dishes come out luke warm, others hot. Cooked to order meats dont always come out as requesed. When it first opened food was much better and consistent. Its disappointing bc this place used to be very good and has gone down since it opened. Its a classy space. Its probably the nicest restaraunt in the area but with the food not being consistent you can get a better meal elsewhere in the area for less.
Oh my goodness the best steak In town! WOW. AMAZING food. Their shrimp cocktail sauce is absolutely sublime. They have these things called vegan balls... I nose turns up at anything vegan! These are absolutely delightful, I couldn’t get enough. My company uses MINT all the time KC is fabulous and his team and food is nearly perfect.
The steak itself was good but besides that service was not impressive and neither were any of the other dishes we tried. The fish was also too salty and overall everything was way too over priced for the portion size. The other thing that was really disappointing was that the steak doesnt come with any traditional sides a steak is typically served with, unless you like a whole garlic as a side of veggies. The salad was similar in taste to grass, nothing special. Not an option for me! Also, lastly when I asked our server about one of the dishes we ordered his response was to be honest I dont know. Thats a turn off! Perhaps the staff needs to be educated on the menu?
Last night i went again, service was good not amazing, food was good my steak wss overcooked after asking the server to please make sure my steak is cooked properly. I ordered med rare and received med to med well. That wasnt the worst part. The worst part was throughout dinner, someone was smoking upstairs. I asked a few times to please have whomever was smoking to stop. Not only is it against the law but disgusting. I dont think i will be back. This was the last time I was here. A few months agoFood was good service was great!!! Positive upbeat server very personable and effective. He took his time with us and was knowledge on menu information. Food was good. Will definitely return. Thanks!! 5 star rating.
Id give this place 2 stars just for being a clean restaurant with a nice atmosphere and good staff but thats about as good as it gets. The prices are extremely expensive, you might as well butcher a cow yourself and make it at home cause that would still be way cheaper. But never mind that, the presentation of the meal is very professional too, cause I was really excited to dig into my steak but my stomach said otherwise. As soon as I left the restaurant I sprinted to the car and felt my stomach drop to my ass. A good 50$ later , I realized what my stomach was capable of doing (which was flushing my intestines) within a 10 minute time span that had me screaming.
Stopped by for lunch with a co-worker today, we work in Downtown West Dearborn and have been meaning to stop by for a bit- the service for starters is top notch, our waiter was excellent and the owner and I believe the supervisor stopped by, asked questions, and were a pleasure to be around. Our appetizer- the gulf shrimp, was fantastic. Our main dish was the tomahawk ribeye and it was absolutely mouthwatering. The presentation and way it was cooked was perfect, and it came with a zip sauce that was to die for.If youre looking for a nice lunch or dinner--check it out! Its awesome.
I loved the presentation of the food I ordered. The drinks are good, it’s a nice chill spot for like going on a date, unfortunately I was with my brother. The restaurant is nice, clean, the decor in the bathroom is cute, it’s a little tight in the restaurant, chairs are back to back but the food was superb!
I called the day before to make a reservation for 2 on the patio! Showed up today and they tried seating us inside, waited to get seated outside! Watch a table be seated after us and recieve service before us! We waited a good 30 minutes before we left altogether due to no one even coming to say hi or take our drink order! Not even a busy nite! Really disappointed with the whole experience!!
Great food and wonderful ambiance. We called ahead because we knew wed be there for a meeting. They accommodated the request gracefully. The upstairs is great for meetings and private lounge, with a bar and its own bathrooms. They can curtain off the sound from downstairs as well. The menu was a little higher than Id suspected from $$s, but the quality is definitely closer to 4☆. This should be a must visit $$$.Had the Vegan Quinoa Cakes, which had a blend of cabbages, peas, carrots. On top were streamed rapini. On the side was sirracha sauce and a sweet Japanese sauce - both sauces great with the meal. Its listed as a salad.
Made reservation which wasnt recorded, so they tried to put my family at an undersized table. I recommended we go out on patio which turned out to be nice. Food was great but a but just a bit pricey for their setup. Be that as it may... I will go back for a 2nd time soon.
Greetings,Thank you for a perfect environment and moment. My fine dining experience at Mint had occurred on the Tuesday evening of December 11, 2018. I had made reservations in advance for an enchanted dinner date with my youngest adult daughter, Ms. Mijai Lewis. This date experience and moment had to be the closest thing to being perfect because I was presenting a promise ring to my Queen daughter to take care of her and give her my full blessings when God shows us the right one.Once we had arrived, we were seated in less than a minute at this crowded fine dinning venue. Our server was an outgoing, confident, compassionate, professional, woman with a wonderful sense of humor named Sierra. I had introduced my adult daughter and myself to her, explained the pending moment and she took over from there. For example, she had gave us time to talk and had answered all of our concerns about the venue and what we were ordering. Before we began eating our entrees and sides, I had asked for my daughters left hand to put the promise ring on her ring finger. She had loved the ring and was so happy, sexy and beautiful. As for the meal, my daughter had ordered the Side Salad, NY Strip Steak (Medium well) and Mac N Crab. I had ordered the Dissembled Salad, 12 oz. Lamb Lollipop (Medium well) and Wild Rice. Our meal was outstanding.Later, Sierra had helped me convinced my daughter to order the Cheese Cake RAZ to take home which she had agreed. I was happy to give Sierra the required 20% tip which she had earned for serving us and helped make our moment possible.Lastly, all of us had agreed to stand together by your beautiful Christmas tree for a photo moment. Again, thank you so very much.Sincerely yours,Emory Leonardo Lewis I
This restaurant was absolutely amazing. Everything that we ordered came out perfectly and full of flavor. The only thing that I would suggest is that the Tomahawk Steak sounds appetizing and it says two people can share it but I would not suggest a Tomahawk Steak. While the steak was cooked to Perfection and tasted wonderful your going to get a much better value from the 22 ounce Ribeye then the gimmicky tomahawk. After chatting with the manager about this he actually recommended the 22 ounce Ribeye instead and gave us two free desserts on the house. This restaurant knows how to satisfy its customers and I would recommend it to anybody. We will definitely be back!
Food was horrible I almost got sick just seeing it on my plateService was terrible, they prioritize certain customers based on race and sometimes will decide not to serve people all together while other people are served with no problem.Wouldn’t be surprised if this place was to close down in the near future due to poor treatment of customers and complete unprofessionalism by employees
First time visitor nice and terendy decor from the chairs and tables and all around. We had a very professional young lady as are server she was excellent. Everything we ordered was very good I had the filet mignon and i must say it was the best Ive ever had perfectly cooked. We will be back
Ive been wanting to try this place for such a long time, but Ive just not had the time. Yesterday was my first time going, and I must say it was a big disappointment. Im usually pretty understanding because I work in a restaurant myself and Ive been in the food industry for over 10 years. My bartender was nice, however, I had to wait an hour for an appetizer of grilled shrimp. That is a bit much for timing. I specifically asked the bartender if my food would all be coming out together, because it is a huge pet peeve of mine to receive an appetizer and main course at the same time. I like to enjoy my food and I dont want to rush to eat an appetizer so that my main entree doesnt get cold. I was told, Oh no that wont happen. The kitchen is really backed up because of a huge party upstairs.I said I understood, it was no big deal, I just wanted to make sure they were coming out separately. That was after waiting about 40 minutes. There were two guys next to me that had ordered TWO appetizers maybe 30 seconds before me, their appetizers had come out 10 minutes after we ordered. For me to then have to wait another 50 minutes after they received theirs is ridiculous. The bartender went to check on my food three times during this time. When it finally came, there were three pieces of grilled shrimp on a small plate. Here is where I mention that I ordered from the restaurant week menu, which is another thing Id like to note. In the event of a promotion, or event, I understand that business may peak. That was also part of my initial patience. But, to me, its not an excuse for EXTREME wait times. Its hard for me to be understanding of lack of preparedness. Now, my shrimp looked pretty good, but it was definitely overcooked. It was rubbery and dry. Big disappointment there. Might I add, when my shrimp was brought out to me, there was someone following the bartender with another plate. He sat my entree in front of me seconds after the bartender sat the shrimp in front of me, and I looked at my bartender. She said to me, that isnt my fault. I told them to wait on the entree. One, the fact that a kitchen staff has to be told about the timing of food, in this instance, is insane. I didnt have any special requests out of the ordinary. I just wanted my appetizer to come out first, you know, AS AN APPETIZER. Two, the man who brought it out is someone I presume to be the manager. He was dressed in a blue, button down dress shirt. He apologized, but seemed very unapologetic, if that makes sense. Im only giving two stars because the entree was good. Otherwise, there would have been one star. The dessert that came with it was a complete joke. She brought me two squares of cheesecake that were nothing like the photos I had seen. I have a food page on Instagram, and a lot of us share photos of the local restaurants in a group. I have these beautiful photos that Ive seen and it wasnt the same. I chalked it up as a bad experience that only cost me $51.00, and its hard to say whether Ill be returning. I have these great photos of food that I probably wont be using either, because I like to showcase businesses that meet at least the bare minimum of expectations. A subpar experience and such a disappointment.
Great location, well trained staff, and delicious quality food. Couldnt be any happier to have a great restaurant like this in west Dearborn. The restaurant was busy and our food came out in a timely manner. I usually dont expect this level of service and food for a new restaurant in its first month of opening. However it was a home run.
Ive actually never been to this place. I recently heard some good feedback from friends about the food quality, so I decided to browse my fellow Google community for additional feedback before making my first trip...and just 100% solely based on reading the owners arrogant, prideful, apathetic responses to customers who shared their experiences here tells me all I need to know about the managements lack of priority to customer service...or even lack of familiarity with the phrase altogether. Im so put off by this that I no longer have any plans to ever patronize this establishment.Ive actually never done this before, I try to always give as honest and objective feedback as possible based on my experiences in all my reviews...but hey, theres a first time for everything.
Experienced happy hour at Mint 29 yesterday. We ordered several items to try a variety of hot and cold appetizers. All were larger than we expected, but none were disappointments. The buratta and tomato salad, quinoa cakes, and oysters were standouts. I also enjoyed the nice char on the Tiger shrimp and my strawberry balsamic martini was delicious. I would have like some hard cheeses and grainier bread for the bread and cheese plate.

2022-06-11I went to this restaurant with my friends last week for the first time and we had a good experience. The food was good overall and the environment was nice. It is better to reserve a table ahead of time, I highly recommend it.We ended up trying the filet mignon with the garlic and sauce that comes with the plate. We liked the garlic but didn’t like the sauce it felt a little bit oily and the taste wasn’t as good. On the other hand, The meat was cooked very well and tender! We also tried the mashed potatoes and they were hands down the best we’ve tried ever. We got roasted potatoes, Mac & Cheese (So good!) & Potatoes Au Gratin (Not bad) as side dishes. Another main dish we got was The Korean BBQ Glazed Salmon which was really good.Overall, I would say it’s a nice place, more on the fancy end. To me, I’ve tried better but I do highly recommend this spot as it is Halal and a good starting point if you like steak!

2022-05-06Food was amazing here. Initial experience of customer service wasn’t too good as we were waiting and no one came to help us. However, our waitress was very nice. Calamari and Mint29 bread tray was really good. Crab cakes were a little dry. I got the bone in rib eye Medium cooked and it was really good. The zip sauce it comes with is also very good. Crab Mac n cheese is really good and my fav. Truffle fries were also very good and fresh.

2022-01-25Mint 29 is a treat for the eyes and taste buds. They have a warm and cozy vibe created through the decor. The staff are all pleasant and inviting. Not surprisingly they were busy even on a Monday night, but we were still able to be seated immediately. I suggest calling in advance for reservations if you’re attempting to have dinner on a Friday or Saturday night. The food was delicious too.

2022-02-27Would’ve loved to give this spot more stars, but unfortunately If you charge $40+ for a filet please for the love of god know how to cook it to the correct temp! Went with my partner for VDay & after being told $100+ for the surf & turf special (where do you think you are, Chicago? This is downtown Dearborn) we opted for a Filet MEDIUM & the lamb chops. Everything came out & I could tell my filet was undercooked, but hoped it wasn’t too rare. After one bite I knew this was too rare for me. I knew it was a busy night so I’m trying to be understanding. Mention it to the waiter & he takes the plate. I’m now eating sides & my partner is halfway through the chops. The filet returns charred (last picture) & severely well done. I’m actually shocked a repeatable place that charges $40+ for a piece of meat & can’t cook it properly?! I’ve been in the in fine dining industry & typically a good rule of thumb is that if there’s an issue with a dish all hands are on deck to correct this & a supervisor will run the corrected dish back to the table to circumvent any issues. This did not happen. I gave it back to the server as I wasn’t going to wait a third time for them to correct this as my partner was wrapping up their entree. They graciously took it off my bill as I only cut into this & had one bite from the first Rare one. My partner enjoyed the lamb chops & the potatoes au gratin were really good. The ambiance was nice & they gave us a rose for Valentine’s Day. I’m assuming this was a busy night & my filet wasn’t a priority, but Restaurants can set themselves apart by the way they handle errors & unfortunately I wasn’t impressed. Just another boutique restaurant in a sea of Edison light bulbs.

2022-04-24I got together with friends I had not seen in 7 years last night to celebrate a 40th birthday. The food was great, drinks were delicious, the 4 of us spent some money! At 7:50pm we were already about to leave, I’m not sure who this man was, but he came up to us and told us that at 8pm they get very busy and that we had overstayed the “2 hour time limit” and would need to leave by 8pm. We were NOT told at reservation or at seating that there was a time limit. Meanwhile there were zero people waiting, the bar was empty and the high top table that seats 10 was empty. So for the next 10 minutes we were stared at by him and the hostess and 2 other employees. What a way to ruin a super rare moms night out, I have NEVER been asked to leave a restaurant. On our way out we told him it was rude to ask us to leave when there were empty tables and no one waiting, he then told us there was a lounge above the bar we could use, No thanks. It truly is a shame because we had a great time until the last 10 minutes and we were already on our way out. I will not be back.

2021-11-22Space was a bit tight and crowded. The food however was great; our steaks were done perfectly and the service was attentive for such a busy night. We didn’t love the crab cakes, it had a very fishy smell and the taste was subpar.

2022-04-09Hands down the very best, #1 on my list of burgers. Cooked to order, the Mint29 Prime Burger is leaps and bounds above any other high end burger. Period. Excellent service, very helpful and friendly, amazing Truffle Crab Mac & Cheese. Thanks Kyle!

2022-01-29Fabulous date night location! From the signature cocktails to the appetizers to the entrees, everything was unique and delicious. This is a can’t miss!
