Seeing this massive statue of the late Joe Louis arm and fist is truly inspiring. Symbolizing the American spirit of strength in the light of adversity, we really could use of this unifying spirit in the current political climate. I dont understand how one reviewer can leave such a nasty racist comment about this iconic symbol in the heart of Detroit, but Joe Louis is more than an inspirational figure for African-American. He is an inspirational figure for ALL Americans.
Beautiful statue, I first saw it from the road I took to get to my hotel. I knew that while I was in Detroit I would have to see this statue up close. The gold accents, green copper, and the white building behind, created a stunning effect that could leave sensitive tourists out of breath or shred a tear of joy.
As a fan of the videogame Detroit: Become Human (yes, I visited the monument purely because of the game, I am obsessed), it was amazing to see the monument in real life! Its located at a nice spot inbetween two roads, so you can go up next to it or walk back further and not have to worry about any cars.
If youre from here we all are proud of several landmarkd it statues. One is the heart plaza, another is the spirit of Detroit and this one. One of the iconic places of Detroit . A must visit for all of you are around and it’s a nice place to hang out for friends and family

2022-06-28Fantastic monument for Detroit and boxing fans. Its really in a great location. Walk across the street at the crosswalks and there is plenty of room and safe too, I didnt feel I might get plowed over by an out of control car.Lots of people taking photos of others doing the fist pose. Its a photographers dream with the RenCen in the background in one direction. There are a couple other monuments close by on opposite sides of the road. If you go here, take the extra time to stop at The Spirit of Detroit. Its a very short crosswalk away. One of the must sees if you have the time.

2022-06-21Go during the week because of parking but you gotta check out the Spirit of Detroit. There are other cool monuments nearby including the fist. Construction was also going on.

2019-09-09It was a fun 2 day trip to go see detroit from Toronto area. We were able to see all the attractions and stuff in just a day. Now compare to other cities in US, Detroit is a little old and run down but they have nice places to visit like belle isle island, Art galleries and nice eateries. But this place was under construction when we went if you go on the other side of the monument to Joe Louis then you can click pictures however no date on construction to be finished.

2019-07-18My kids loved this fist! One of our favorite stops every time we visit. We try to get creative with posing. Dodging traffic is the only risk you’ll take to visit Joe’s solid knockout!
