My wife and I had been diligently searching for a moving company to move us from Gross Point MI to N. Carolina. I called Motor City Movers for an estimate and Brian came out to our home to provide us on-site estimate. I had already had 4 other companies come out and I was very uncomfortable with the prices in some and professionalism. After meeting with Brian, I was confident in his professionalism. The day of the move I met his brother Josh and crew. What a wonderful team! They took such precautions while preparing the furniture and moving things around my wife and I were amazed! Everything on both ends went very smoothly. I would personally rate this company 10 out of 5 stars if I could.
I cannot thank this company enough. Excellent customer service. Very professional. The crew of 4 guys were all extremely polite and knowledgeable. These guys actually made sure that we were happy every step of the way and to our surprise continued to go out of their way to make sure to explain each step of the move for us. I would highly recommend using Motor City Movers these guys are true professionals! Thanks guys, we were especially impressed with Marcus and Tony.
Ive hired them the last 3 times we moved. Ive been satisfied every single time. Theyve always been on time. They get things done fast. None of my furniture was ever damaged. Nothing broken. The guys have always been very polite. I literally have no complaints. 5 out of 5 stars. I plan on moving to North Carolina in the future and will be hiring them again. Also I want to add that they really are affordable, coming from a single mother of 3.
Brian, Marcus & Tez moved our entire house into three storage units and a pod! When we closed on our new house we used Brian and his crew again.I cannot say enough about Brian and his crew. They were professional, pricing was competitive and they took great care in moving our entire house full of furniture and belongings-twice! From the pack-out, to wrapping finer furniture, to physically moving items...these guys are amazing!
I was scheduled to move Friday morning....long story short he showed up ALONE for a 3 bedroom move.....rescheduled for Saturday due to staffing issues, showed up ALONE over an hour late. Had his 15 yr old kid arrive an hour later, 5 hours later a couple more guys showed up. Partially moved us till 8pm and was scheduled to come back and finish next day....next day NO SHOW, GHOST US. Totally unprofessional, full of false apologies and total disregard for the inconvenience. HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED!!!
Motor City Movers was a great help in my long distance move to Florida this last month. My wife and I finally decided to retire to Florida and found a condo up on a 6th floor. Brian and the crew were amazing because we also had a car that needed to be towed down as well, and some items going to storage.Brian had everything so well organized that the load and unload went off without a hitch. The car and condo items were delivered first, then on to storage. Everything was delivered in perfect condition. Our marble top table almost didnt fit but Brian came up with a solution on the spot.Thank you again Brian and crew, I am glad we made the choice to go with Motor City Movers!
I cant say enough great things about Brian and the crew at Motor City Movers. My husband was offered a job promotion and was told that we needed to move cross country within a week. Brian and his team came through in a pinch, even helping to pack-out some of our house to help make the move as smooth and stress less as possible. They were so careful with our belongings, everything was pad wrapped and banded before it went through the door way and onto the truck. When we reached our destination point everything was in the same condition as when it left our house in Michigan. Thank you again Brian and crew!
Had a great experience with Motor City Movers. I really loved how they packed everything up and covered up all the furniture. The guys even laid down carpet and some other card board to protect my new flooring. Price was what I expected. Would recommend.
Chris, Aaron, and Mike (poppa bear) were 15 minutes early to move and we’re quick to get started. They deassembled and Reassembled everything for us, they told us on the phone it would take 5 hours and they were right on the dot. The movers only took one 5 minute break in that process. Would recommend to anyone looking to move in the near future.
I recently had a move from Detroit to LA, California. Brian and his crew went above and beyond making sure everything went smoothly. For me personally I have moved long distance four times and this by far was the best company for the price and quality. I am very happy with the result of this move and cant thank Brian and his crew enough.
I moved from Detroit to Dallas, TX a month ago and this company was outstanding. This was a very complicated move for me which these guys made effortless. I had three stops in Michigan and two stops in Texas. Brian and his crew were amazing and accommodated every step of this move for me. I cant thank these guys enough! This company made my move a breeze! They packed and protected all my important items and made sure to take extra care of all my furniture! The guys were efficient and professional and I appreciate the courtesy and respect! The prices are low and the rewards are high! I recommend them to anyone who is considering a moving company!!!

My name is James. they helped move me from michigan to California james mike and dre. very polite people, very careful with transporting my Property. when they got to California all of my stuff was still in good condition. when they got to my new house they coverd all of my floors and doors with pads to make sure nothing got scratched or harmed.if i could i would give them 10 out of 5 stars i would definitely hire them again
Brain and Holly Oldham are both low life individuals I paid them and not only did they reschedule multiple days and times...they moved me 60% and then NO SHOW and wouldnt take calls the next day....WISH them the same karma in return! NOT RECOMMENDED!!
This is the worst company I’ve ever done business with. I just closed on a new home and I had a move scheduled for 9am over a week in advance. A few days later the move was then rescheduled for 3pm. No big deal I thought. On the day of my move, 3pm came and went and nobody showed up. I contacted the owner and he stated that there was a 2 hour delay with the job that had been rescheduled previously. After dropping several expletives he told me it would only be another couple of hours. This continued until after 9PM AND NOBODY EVER SHOWED UP! I finally just cancelled. Don’t do business with the company ever. Even if they reassure you that you’re on their schedule. I now have to delay moving in and scramble to find a new company. Lesson learned. Never again.

I am normally not the type of person to post reviews but I feel that with this experience it is the right way to raise awareness for people looking to hire a moving company. Do not deal with these liars and reckless movers, I expect them to reply to this review in condescending and discrediting way much like they have done to every negative review in other sites and their other business pages, but I am most importantly exercising my right of free speech, not intentionally sabotaging any business but calling out attention to those in need to hire a moving company,. My advice to all: STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AND HIS OTHER COMPANY A-FFORDABLE MOVING & HAULING LLC!Their quote was very much different than the final cost by double the amount, this of course comes after the owners underhanded tactics and lack of transparency to the customer by employing a bogus implication that they estimated one thing but it ended up being another. Not only did they break some of my property in transit, theyve also damaged walls, ceilings and doors by brute forcing their way in to the new house to move my items in. When it was brought up to this dishonest owner he explicitly said that he would make things right and to give him a week since he would be out of town, which was all lip service to keep us at bay and in order for his crew to get paid, which they did and were tipped well not because of the quality of their work which was below average but because they were acting so amicably and understanding of our situation. A week later comes and he is not returning calls or messages, finally responds by accusing us of lying and that no property was damaged by his crew. Claimed that we coerced them into moving items that they do not move in their trucks due to high risk of damage, in this case, TVs, which of course, is another lie. Excused himself by hiding behind a contract that was never signed nor agreed upon. Accused us of intentionally sabotaging his business by expressing our disdain for the quality of human beings that they are and how they ran away from responsibility. If any of you are looking to hire an honest and diligent moving company, this is not the one neither is A-FFORDABLE MOVING & HAULING LLC which is also run by them. These are dishonest people looking to take advantage of customers in need. They can reply, accuse and privately threaten all they want with taking legal action over negative reviews but they cannot take a disheartened and disappointed customers right to publicly assert and exercise their right to free speech when it is not to their convenience. That being said folks, again, BEWARE AND STAY AWAY FROM THIS NO GOOD MOVING COMPANY AND HIS OTHER COMPANY, A-FFORDABLE MOVING & HAULING LLC!
Well, made an appointment for 10. 1030 we called amd they said people called in sick for work and would be in at 11. 1130 came around called again and they said truck had issues and would be in at 1230. Got a call at 1 and they said they couldn’t make it but promised to come at 10am tomorrow and would give a discount. Guess what 1030 came around and they did not show and would not answer their phones. It is 2pm tomorrow and never got a call back. Would never recommend them.

Requested to have dune buggy shipped and after the last company didnt bring the right stuff to load twice I decided to try this company, Motor City Movers was able to pick it up within 2 days from another state and have it delivered with no issues and I got it really fast in great condition.
These men moved me to Georgia they were super professional and kept in contact every step of the way and they had better prices than 3 other companies that quoted us I highly recommend them.

Movers were on time, polite, and efficient during moving process. However, movers destroyed a piece of furniture during move, neglected to say anything about it, and left me to discover it on my own after they left. As the pictures show, there is no way they did not know they destroyed it.As a result, I had move the furniture back downstairs myself and out to the trash. When I contacted the owner, he simply replied that it wasnt covered due to the type of material it was made out of... no apology for not disclosing it was broken during move or even small offer of retribution. It really ruined what could have been a good experience and review.UPDATE: Blatant lies in owners response to attempt to discredit my review. Ive attached text messages from Sean/Brian as evidence. If the two gentlemen would have carried the piece of furniture up the stairs versus one using a dolly, my daughter would still have her armoire. And which is it Brian? Did I damage it myself or did Sean let me know it wouldnt survive the move (which he never did)? You might want to revise your response and just be honest.
Used these guys on one of the hottest days of the summer. They pushed through and got it done without a scratch on anything I don’t know how these guys do it everyday

2022-07-05He never showed up and left my family and I stranded. Lied about being close by. Tried reaching out to both his wife and he to retrieve my $500 dollar deposit. As you can guess, more empty promises. 100% FRAUD! If you get a chance, google the owners name before hiring, dont forget to use the word warrant!

2021-09-17Jack and Sean did a fantastic job with moving some items from one of my offices to another. They went from a busy downtown with limited parking to a basement in the final destination. They were able to get me in the same week, within 2 days of initially contacting them. They were efficient and very nice. Will definitely use them for any future moves.

2020-03-22I hired Motor City Movers to move my family from Michigan to Louisiana 3vweeks ago. What impressed us so much is the length the company went to protect our property as advertised. I carefully reviewed companies and saw all the videos and loading pictures. They did exactly as they had advised. This was very important to us after all the reviews we read about nightmare moves. Brian the owner and his guy James kept us informed every step from the booking process to delivery. Definitely recommend using this company. Very professional and his team was very pleasant to deal with. Thanks again guys.

2021-05-30The worst experience I’ve ever had with movers, used them last year and then made the mistake of thinking it was a fluke and used them for our move today.Last year damage was done to the wood flooring on the house we were moving out so we had to cover costs to repair that all while one employee spent his day vomiting in my half bath. No show today with excuse after excuse, no follow up phone calls and now it’s 7:40 almost 3 hours with no reasoning or update on why they were a now show. The single most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. Do not recommend as they’ll tell you every lie in the book to not show up or if they do, it’ll be late and you’ll have your house damaged and people getting sick in your bathroom that you’ll have to clean up yourself as to not leave for the new homeowners. Every platform I find your company on I will leave this review on. Dishonest, unprofessional and just disgusting to string a repeat customer along like this. I honestly have no idea how you’re still in business. And I know there’s a few company’s in the area with the same name; this is the correct company before you respond with “there’s no one booked by this name” like I’ve seen on other bad reviews you’ve been left with pretty much the same story of your company no call no show. Don’t go on vacation if you don’t have qualified employees you can rely on to run your business when you’re out of town. Enjoy mackinaw. I wish there were more platforms to warn people how subpar your service is.

2021-07-12NEVER SHOWED UP wish I could give negative stars. This was a horrible experience. I hired this company on behalf of my 80 year old mother. They were supposed to show up last Friday 7/9 at 9am. 9:30 arrives and nobody, I reach out to Brian and at 10:55 he finally answers that they are stuck in traffic on the highway down near Toledo Ohio. Bad accident 3 people killed. Ok, Ill buy that, although I checked Google Maps and didnt see any red on any highways and have yet to find a news story about it, 11:40 I get a text after asking again where they are he says by Monroe. Nothing after that, no text, no call, no show, no nothing after several attempts to contact them. Left my 80 year old mother crying at her home. I actually went to the address on the business and it ended up being a trailer in a trailer park and they werent there. So do you checks people before you hire someone. Luckily I didnt lose any money other than wasting a vacation day.

2021-02-14Absolutely horrible experience!!!! THEY NEVER SHOWED UP!!!!We set up our time to move over a month before we were planning to move. The night before the move, they reached out regarding the large items that needed to be moved the following morning.The morning of the move, they called an hour before they were supposed to be at our house and said “the weather was too bad”. Which was not the case at all. Yes, there were flurries, but I went out and the roads were completely fine. We live in Michigan. If you don’t want to move in the cold and flurries, then close your business for the winter.We needed our stuff moved that day, and the owner was kind enough to send some guys over, but informed us they might be late. Hours and hours went by without hearing anything. The owner was not answering his phone, but was sending texts saying guys were on their way 3.5 hours after the time we had scheduled. Which was a blatant lie. No one showed up. Incredibly unprofessional and rude. I never imagined that this would be a problem. The amount of stress this company put on us, on what was supposed to be an exciting day, is ridiculous.Based on previous replies to negative reviews, I’m sure the owner will try and come up with something that did not happen. There was no contract sent to us, ever, which seems to be the excuse he uses most frequently. Terrible, terrible experience. The only recommendation I have regarding these guys is to find literally any other company to help you out.

2019-08-15I am not normally a person to get online to provide reviews for services. However, I was so impressed by the professionalism of the owner Brian, and how well his employees protected all my belongings. Not only my belongings but my structural property as well. I have hired other moving companies in the past but Motor City Movers is the only company that I have seen to provide professional door covers, banister covers, and door jamb protectors. Good job guys and Brian! I will recommend you to everyone I know!!

2021-09-08I had a last minute emergency move sense the other movers didn’t show. I called motor city movers and they came out the same day and crushed it and o I forgot to mention we moved all the way to flordia from start to finish everything was smooth and a lot cheaper then the other guys I was originally going to use

2020-08-29I hired Motor City Movers to move some large furniture and a large (empty) fish tank from one house to another. I spoke to Brian over the phone for a quote. $200/hr for four movers. Estimated ~5 hours of time. On moving day, the crew showed up 30 minutes late. They were not aware that part of the job involved moving my large (empty) aquarium and said that would be a special $350 extra charge. Oh by the way, it had to be a cash payment too. It was super sketchy. They also stated that their hourly rate was $260 instead of $200, even though I had paperwork from Brian stating $200. I really think these guys were taking advantage of me. I had no other choice than to go forward and pay them the extra money - I had to be out of the house! This business has some pretty sketchy practices and takes advantage of their customers. I would not recommend at all. They wouldnt even give me a receipt for the special cash charge. Im sure theyre trying to dodge paying taxes on it...
