Had a small problem with the work they did for me... I called them and they had it fixed to my satisfaction the same day I called. I really appreciate companies who stand by their work and take care of their customers like Mr Handyman did. We will have them back out for other projects in the future.
It was a little tricky finding someone willing to look at vinyl siding in the winter. Mr. Handyman did want to wait until the temperature was above freezing so that they didnt do more damage, and so my initial visit was scheduled out a bit. Stephen explained what he would be doing before he started, did a nice job, and then explained what he had done. I will need more work once the weather actually warms up, but I expected that.
We hired Mr. Handyman of Greater Grand Rapids for a assembly and installation of a heavy duty garage storage rack. Our service pro was Jason F., he is very professional, and super friendly. He provided us with his expert advice and completed our project quickly and under our expected budget. Thanks for a great experience Jason.
We contacted several contractors to fix our pocket door to no avail. Mr. Handyman was very responsive and sent John out within a few days. There was a problem getting the correct hardware but we were kept informed of the progress. The door was fixed, works beautifully. We will definitely be using this company for future projects. We are so happy we found them!
We needed some work done in our family room due to a pipe leak that ruined the drywall and built in tv cabinets. The folks at Mr Handyman were very responsive and very professional, In fact, the same day I called, a carpenter came out and quoted the job! John the carpenter is excellent. Was very helpful in design as well as carpentry. Jason was the pro that did the drywall finishing, and he was equally awesome. He was on time and on point!
Aaron came out to install a structure around a small dishwasher, to do some minor repairs, and to give an estimate for other work. He was very friendly, professional, and competent. I enjoyed working with him, and will continue to utilize this business. Thanks, Aaron!
Our house did not have a bathroom fan and we desperately needed one. I filled out the form online on Sunday and someone from Mr. Handyman got back to me Monday morning. I was quoted a small range of how much it would be over the phone, and the range was spot on. We scheduled an appointment for just over a week later. After a bunch of storms came through, the office called me to see if I would like to move my appointment up to that day! I was able to be present and the worker than came out was fantastic. He got right to work, and within a few hours, we had a working fan in our bathroom. He was so knowledgeable and worked efficiently. I will definitely think of Mr. Handyman in the future for our household needs.
Justin was here on time, with a mask on, and got right to work. He installed curtain rods for me and assembled two pieces of furniture. As he worked he checked with me about details concerning the rod and sheers I was hanging. He was nice, polite, professional and did a wonderful job. I would definitely hire him and this company again!
I was very pleased. Time will tell if the area fixed leaks in the next rain or not, but I was confident in the repair person’s description of the problem he found and what he did to fix it. I also appreciate the great communication between the company and myself and enjoy working with people who operate professionally. Very fair pricing, great cleanup, and will call again if needed!
Hired Mr Handyman to cut to size and install pressure treated plywood to replace rotten particleboard above our cellar doors. Robert was our technician - he arrived at the scheduled time, was polite, friendly, and had the knowledge and tools with him to make short work of a job I didnt have the expertise or equipment to do on my own. Highly recommended!
Did a great job replacing some vinyl siding and replacing molding around my garage. The technician even did some painting in an area thats too high for me to get to comfortably. Very knowledgable and professional. Great experience! Will definitely hire again with confidence.
I want to start by saying Thank you, Thank you, Thank you 😊 We called them and they responded very fast and got us on the schedule. Larry came on Monday the 8th and finished the porch enclosure today. We were so happy with how it turned out and so grateful to have it done. With my husbands surgery and my knee injury itll save me a lot of grief keeping the porch cleared off this winter. Again Thank you. Id recommend this business to everyone. Hopefully youll have time to help taking it down in the spring. Bonnie Hill
I was really disappointed with the service that I received from Mr. Handyman. The technician arrived on time the first day and seemed fine, however he didnt finish the job. He offered to come back that weekend to finish up free of additional charge but asked that I lie to his employer when they called to confirm the job was done. Stupidly, I trusted him. Then I spent two weeks trying to get him to come out and finish the job. He would text me at the last moment to cancel appointments and a few times I suspected that he was drunk based on the way he texted and time of night.Ultimately I called Mr. Handyman to let them know and asked that they send a *different* technician to finish the job because I was really uncomfortable with the original guy. In text exchanges he was somewhat aggressive and was trying to make me feel guilty. In the end, they sent the same technician and the owner to finish the job. I asked my husband to handle it because I was not comfortable being there alone with two large men, one of whom was almost certainly angry at me for complaining. The apology we got was half-hearted and involved a lot of Were sorry, but [insert excuse here].They did a fine repair (thats the only reason they get two stars) but left plaster on fixtures and some kind of dark substance that Ive been unable to get off my 100+ year old hardwood floors. I wouldnt recommend them based on the state they left my house in and how they handled my complaint.
Needed an exhaust fan in our basement bathroom with a light. Jason was very kind and respectful. Introduced himself at the door. Was willing to answer any and all questions I had. Pointed out different optionsto take and asked me what I thought.I had to leave to babysit but when I returned,WOW!! Absolutely Incredible!! Clean, sharp and professionally done!! My only wish at that point is that I had done it sooner for us.Mr. Handyman was quick, understanding of time restraints and Ill definitely call again in the future! Oh! the office person, she was very nice!!Nina and Jimmie S.
Lawrence was the ultimate pro! Handled everything with precision and quality care. We have 20 foot ceilings and he navigated removing an old light fixture and installing the new fixture with ease—an engineering mind. We’re very appreciative of his attention to detail and expertise.
I was 100% impressed with this company. The office staff juggle the workers around and I was pleasently surprised my day off would work out. Lawrence was professional, he put a great deal of critical thinking into my sunroom floor. I am thankful he tackled this job for me and I was able to get the garage trim done too. Lawrence took time to educate me and answer my questions. He was kind. I recommend your company to others.
Repair to a non structural beam in my great room. Due to height of beam - I had two technicians, Jason and Lawrence. I appreciate that they discussed alternatives to what could be done and let me decide what I felt was suitable solution. Glad that I found a reliable service provider who shows up on time and comes in on budget. Would definitely use again.
As a newer home owner, its been a struggle finding different contractors when we need them, or even within 6 months of when we need them... Anyways, I found Mr. Handyman the other day hoping they could repair a gutter issue. Totally professional from start to finish, very reasonable, Jason was awesome, and he fixed it THE SAME DAY. Im sure that is nowhere near guaranteed, but I cant explain how gratifying that was. Thank you!!
I called them up to have a fan repaired and vented to the outside rather than into the attic after buying the new house. They got back to me immediately and scheduled the work. The service guy arrived on time and got the work done fast. Havent had any problems with the set up yet and am pretty happy with the work. I plan on having them do more work when I get up the savings.
I was very happy with Larry of Mr. Handyman. He came exactly on time! He purchased the materials we needed for our project, and he completed it within 3 hours -- much less time than had been allotted. Best of all, he knew what he was doing, as he was a former builder himself. He hauled away all the garbage, and we were left with a wonderful, successful handyman project that we could not have done ourselves, and would not have known how to hire a contractor for a fairly small project. I would highly recommend Mr. Handyman
Handyman came to my rescue and installed an over door awning, after months of trying to get someone to install it. Tech support Jason did an excellent job on installing the kit awning. Should have looked them up first. Quick response, perfect communication along with fee range. I am very impressed!
I would like to thank Austin S. of Mr. Handyman (Grand Rapids, MI) for his professionalism and quality work ethic. He installed baseboards, in my new bathroom and molding and trim around my window, transition piece goin into the bathroom with a new doorknob cut out install and closet door cuts. Very punctual, friendly and highly skilled in this trade. I recommend him to anyone whose looking for quality work. You won’t be disappointed I assure you. He has done an amazing job and I’ve already reached out to hire him again! Thankyou Austin S.
From the moment I reached out to Mr. Handyman, I was in awe at the level of professionalism and transparency with which the company conducts itself. Hourly labor rates and job completion expectancy were discussed right away. It was a relief not to have to pry for such information.Regarding Austin, the technician sent out for my deck repair, I could not have been more impressed with his work. Austin worked efficiently, diligently, professionally and gracefully. His suggestions for additional work that he might perform came entirely from a place of wanting to do the job correctly, and not from a salespersons perspective. Of all the people I have had work in my home, Austin was the most competent, courteous and pleasant to have around.I am nothing less than entirely satisfied with my experience hiring Mr. Handyman. I will do so again in the future.
I was able to get a fast quote and appointment to get drywall fixed in my bathroom. They do charge for parts, but they give you a credit on parts if you book with them after the quote. The price seemed fair, the work was fast and professional, and the techs showed up near the beginning of their 2 hour expected window instead of 5 minutes before the end of it.
Our first floor bathroom exhaust fan was old and stopped working. I bought a new one to replace it but after an hour of wrestling with it, I realized I was in over my head. I filled out the contact form online, had someone called me within an hour and scheduled the appointment for the next day. Handyman showed up right on time and installed the new fan without any issues did it under 2 hours and under budget. Ill be calling them again for small fix-it projects and will recommend them too.
Used Mr. Handyman to repair a chip on our granite countertop. Rob, the repairman they sent, did an excellent job. It is difficult to notice that there was a chip. They are a little pricey but no unsightly chip and definitely less expensive than replacing the countertop.
Kai refurbished my front entry door. It is 100 years old and was not properly maintained for the last 30. The worst part was that it wasnt functioning as the locks were misaligned due to elements etc.. he rebuilt the entire door jam using as much original hardware as possible and made it both functional and much more attractive. He exceeded my expectations! He cares about older homes and the quality of his work. Worth the money.
Reached out to them for window repair. Scheduler was friendly and helpful. Kept me up to date on some scheduling changes, which I appreciated. Repair was done in a timely manner, with instructions on what we could do if we encountered this again in other windows, which I thought was nice. He even asked if there was anything else we needed done.
Mr. Handyman did a number of projects for us after we bought a house that needed a lot of work. They installed ceiling lights in our living room, lights in a couple different closets, and they re-drywalled our basement, which was the big project. As part of the basement project, they also built a totally new railing for our stairs, which turned out great!! We have been completely happy with their work. They were also very professional and easy to have in our house for a number of days.
I recently contacted Mr. Handyman to see if they could help repair noisy pipes in our basement. After the appointment I felt that the work was not complete and when I contacted Laurel, and then later, Kevin, they were gracious and responded quickly to sending someone back to complete the work. Andrea returned with Larry within two days and made sure the issue was fixed and that I was completely satisfied. I would highly recommend Mr. Handyman. The range of services they provide, as well as their customer service, makes them the best choice.
They did great work and were on time. I didnt expect to pay for the guys PPE which showed up on the bill. Seems like that would be a part of doing business. And, disposable rubber gloves dont cost $5. I would call them again but would definitely clarify, ahead of time, that I am not responsible to pay for the mask that they need to be wearing anyway or the gloves which cost less than .40 cents.
Theyve got great customer service, but unfortunately they price-gouge like crazy. The quote they gave me JUST to hang drywall in a bedroom and bathroom was 8,500-9,000, which I thought was a bit ridiculous. So I had two other estimates for comparison, from highly rated contractors thatve been in the business for 25+ years. One quoted me 3,500 and the other 3,800. Theres no explanation for overpricing services the way they do at Mr. Handyman, other than greed. So yeah, I strongly encourage others to shop around.Update: I think what you dont like about my review is that its honest. Either way, its meant for other potential customers so they can maybe save a few thousand bucks, like I did. I only mentioned your price estimation services, I said nothing about the quality of your workmanship.
Had a sunroof replaced and the drywall didnt go up far enough. After receiving a great quote to add a border to the skylight we had someone come out and he did a great job. No complaints. Would hire Mr. Handyman again for tricky work like this (and if youve ever had to do something like framing/adding trim to a sunroof that is at an angle is no easy feat).
The serviceman from Handyman was highly professional in installing my new storm door. When we noticed the bottom section of my exit door was not flush with the bottom of the storm door, leaving a gap, he was easily able to improvise and cover up the unexpected gap. Consequently, the door has a solid feel when opening and closing, the inside latch catches perfectly upon closure, and the outside lock secures the door well.Cost of labor was fair.I plan to contact Handyman in the near future for more home fix-its.
I have an never given a five star rating before, but these guys deserve it. They put in a storm door for us. House was older and not perfectly square. Installer took his time and made sure we had a tight seal to the door. Their quote was reasonable, and it took them a lot longer than expected, but they never made an issue of sticking to the original quote. These guys are top knotch professional.
I hired this company for repairs on my bathroom ceiling. While the technician sent out was very nice, prompt, and courteous the work performed was sub par for the amount I was paying. I had had another contractor out and he told me to do the job correctly he would scrape the peeling paint, pull down the tape that was sagging between two boards, retape, and remud/sand the entire ceiling. The main reason I didnt go with that contractor is he had a minimum charge which was more than he said the job would cost. So I called this company and they sent someone out within a few days, which was a great. However when I returned home and inspected the work there are large areas that the tech neglected to scrape as well as all he did was fill in the line of tape between the two boards (which - you can still very clearly see the line). When I called to complain they wanted to come back to finish the job as well as to scrape and mud the very obviously missed areas however this would have added a third service call charge - just seems theyre trying to up the price and get more out of me as really, this was a simple job that the first stage should have been completed on day one. It was within reason that they offered to come do more work on it however they did not offer to waive any fees. I did ask for at least the service fee to be waived however I have not heard back from this company. I did tell them that I do not want them to finish any work as my experience has been not great thus far however I offered to come let them review the work that WAS done in hopes of getting some form of refund as this was not cheap (although the work performed was) - which I was told by who I believe is the office manager, that customer service was very important to them. It just seems very shady and as a single woman I feel they were trying to take advantage by billing for additional visits. Based on this experience and the lack of follow up on their end (so far all calls have been initiated by me with the exception of one today which I missed, returned, and have not heard back). I thought going with a professional company would be better than using an independent contractor however it seems no matter which way you go, there are shady people willing to money grab.
I had a very nice man call first and arrive on time all on the day agreed upon with the lady on the phone. He fixed the job he came to do and then asked if there were any other little items he could repair. He explained the billing to me and that I still had time left on his visit that could be used. I was surprised at all the different areas in which they were capable of working. I will definitely call them again and have passed on my recommendation to family members and friends..
I was very impressed with my experience using Mr. Handyman. Kevin, in the office, was great at communicating times and asking about my experience. Mark, my technician, was FABULOUS. He was timely, clean, organized, and checked for satisfaction throughout his time. Highly recommend using them! Their pricing is a little steep but its back by great quality.
We have used Mr. Handyman twice. Each time we had a different employee and each time we had a wonderful experience. They were very clear, punctual, polite, thorough and never tried to sell us on anything that was necessary. The customer service that we received on the phone and at the time of our repairs was exceptional. I would highly recommend Mr. Handyman.
Was initially told that the job (drywall finishing) would be an estimated day, day and a half job. Ended up taking three full days, and they charge by the hour. Paid twice as much as I wanted to/was expecting to. $2500+ for an attic space. For that price, I expected an awesome job, but was pretty sore in areas. Drywall dust also littered all outside the side of the house, making a mess as it rained later that day. Also, payment is all up front, no financing or delayed invoice, fyi.WOULD NOT RECOMMENDUnless you want a fast, expensive job that is merely decent.
Had a great experience with Mr. Handyman. The customer service was excellent and it was great to speak directly with the owner when scheduling the job. I really appreciate the fact that they interview and hire their own employees rather than randomly contract jobs out. The service was timely and done with excellent quality. I highly recommend this company.
Mr. Handyman fit in my emergency request to fix rotted subfloor that Home Depots french door installers wouldnt touch. I called on a Monday and they had someone out that Friday who not only fixed the subfloor, but installed the french doors. It took a little longer, so they actually came back on Saturday to finish because we were leaving for vacation on Monday. Mark was thorough and his work was very good.
I am a Realtor in West Michigan. Anytime one of my clients’ needs a repair or project done to their home, I eagerly recommend the Grand Rapids location of Mr. Handyman. Here is but one story of their assistance: Recently I was just about to list a home when a major rain storm flooded their basement. A basement solutions company was willing to install a couple of sump-pumps and wells, but a large built-in cabinet needed to be removed before the wells were installed, and then re-built afterwards. This is where Mr. Handyman saved the day! Kevin was able to coordinate with me and the sump-pump company to get the cabinet removed the day before the sump pumps were installed, and then get it put back together the day afterwards. Time was of the essence because we had an open house already advertised for that weekend!! I came out looking like a hero to my clients by being able to very quickly provide professional solutions to what could have been a minor Real Estate disaster. Thank you to Kevin, Tom and the entire Mr. Handyman Team!
I am glad that I called Mr. Handyman. Kevin (service consultant) was insightful and informative, with excellent follow-up to get this project underway. John (carpenter/technician) demonstrated his know-how admirably, and with ease. He was comfortable answering questions on the project...explaining remedies/fixes. I look forward to working with Mr. Handyman again.
We hired Mr. Handyman to help us install our countertop. Lumbermans cut it wrong at first (50 too long!) so we had to send it back to them, and it came back in one HUGE piece, which was really heavy and we werent sure what to do. I called Mr. Handyman and had a great experience all around. First of all, Laurel in the office is a sweetheart and totally on the ball. She had John out here that same week and within moments he knew what had to happen: Were going to need about 5 guys in here and then I can have this installed within an hour. Thankfully we live in a great neighborhood full of good friends and in 30 minutes my husband and 7 other guys were here to help. (They had to be very careful because of our integrated sink.) As promised, John had the counter installed and looking great in no time and we were only charged a one hour fee. Very reasonable for the daunting task we had before us. We were so impressed by John that we asked if he could come back the next week to knock out about 8 random things for our kitchen remodel that we either didnt have the tools for or didnt want to do. By the time he got there we had another BIG problem: our stove didnt fit. He took care of that issue AND all the other stuff, he made it look easy and was here a big part of the day, and the cost was very reasonable for all that he did. Everything was done well too -- I told him that he can never retire, Im going to call him for everything now!
We had a long Honey Do list that needed to be done around the church building. One project was building a set of platform steps to our outdoor building. We had about 6 general fix it projects that were smaller like fixing a door that would not shut, installing new window blinds, and other minor repairs.
I called for an estimate to move a closet door from one wall to another and sent photos and details ! Not only did it take forever for a response, they tried to tell me it would take 2 days and over $1,900 dollars or more !!!! To move a closet door ........ DO NOT do business with these people unless you get estimates elsewhere first ! I had a company quote me out $300 bucks to do this and it would take hours not days to do !
They may do great work but I wouldnt know...their prices stopped me cold...$150 for first hour then $90 an hour thereafter...also $90 an hour to go buy the materials, which they would then charge me a marked up price for those too. The $150 for the first hour also recoups their so-called free estimate. Shop around before you contract with these people.
The guys did a great job ,they assembled a 12x12 gazebo that came in 3 boxes unreal amount of pieces they put it together in just a few hours ,it would have taken me 3 weeks ,they never took a break it was like a challenge to them ,dont take your chances by hiring off Craigslist Ive found out they are mostly unrealible and uninsured ,I would hire then in a minute again ,

2021-09-13I cannot say enough good things about this company! John was our technician and his work is amazing! Our house is very old, so I knew that we would need to hire a company that had experience, knew what they were doing, and warranties are always a plus! We had 2 entry way doors installed, as well as 2 storm/security doors, it took some work and a lot of elbow grease to say the least, we had a few kinks in the road but Mr. Handyman really came through, and safe to say I think these doors will last forever! They are very quick to respond to your messages, the customer service is outstanding and John really takes pride in his work! Its rare to find companies like this one where they want to make sure everything is up to par, we got a couple different quotes and not only is Mr. Handyman affordable but for the quality work they do it was a no brainer for us.

2022-01-27I have had Mr. Handyman out for a couple of different projects and they seem to do quality work. However, in my experience on the latest project, the communication was very poor. There were repairs needed on my barn. This was a pretty expensive project, over 7 thousand. I had asked the office if the project should be held off a couple months for warmer weather until the snow starts to melt, if the weather would be an issue or increase my costs. I was told it shouldnt be an issue. When Larry was done with the project, he let me know the cost would be approximately $900 more than what was expected and he needed to collect the payment before leaving. I spoke with Heidi at the office as to why the cost increased. It turns out they had to use a lot of propane to melt certain areas that were frozen to be able to to the job. If I knew this was a possibility, I would have held off on the project until warmer weather as I had already explained to them and did not appreciate that this was never brought up to me until the job was completed. Heidi agreed to meet me in the middle by bringing the cost down some. However, I still had to pay more than to the estimate I agreed to and this issue could have easily been avoided in the first place. My first experience with Mr. Handyman was good with repairing wood rot on the side of my house. After this experience though, I probably would not use them again. Communication is so important, especially when you are dealing with peoples hard earned money!

2022-03-31We had part of our fascia damaged by wind storms this winter. Since I was not comfortable doing the repair myself, I reached out to Mr. Handyman. They were courteous and professional from start to finish. Larry arrived on time and was friendly throughout the project. The quoted price seemed fair for the work that was done. Hopefully we won’t need to for a while, but if repairs come up again we will definitely be contacting Mr. Handyman.

2022-05-25We have had many excellent experiences using Mr. Handyman and are so glad about the quality of work they have done. Aaron performed amazing work making sure that our cabinets, overall kitchen, and bathroom were perfect. He was also willing to do a few add-on tasks that made our space look even better. Mr. Handyman will always have our business!

2022-05-16Mr Handyman services are very expensive but I am willing to pay extra for a job well done. Our handyman left early both days he was here. On the second day he said everything was done so he was paid. My husband is disabled and I was at work so we could not inspect the job before the handyman left. When I inspected the work, the job was not finished so we called them back. The handyman had to fit us into his schedule on the following week to get everything completed. We then asked for an itemized bill for the materials used because we thought the price for materials seemed quite high. We were told they could not provide an itemized list because they purchase materials on account so they did not have receipts for those. They said they estimated the cost for the materials. I feel they over charged for the materials used but I cannot prove it.

2022-07-20Handyman services was excellent. We needed some repair on our siding. Their communication before during and after the repair was excellent. I would highly recommend them for any small jobs or large jobs you have. Great customer service. Fair pricing

2022-03-26Communication was amazing. Repairs were thorough and up to our expectations. Quote matched final cost (we only contacted 1 other handyman who never responded so I don’t have anything to compare quotes with). We will likely use their services for other repairs/improvements.

2022-06-01I contracted Stephen Jewell through Mr. Handyman to repair some rotten exterior wall and siding. Stephen was punctual, professional and straight to the point. His work was thorough and done quickly. I’m giving my experience a 4 star rating because the labor was expensive, which I assume is due to the business model.

2022-03-16Mr. Handyman was on time and very nice to deal with. Did a nice job replacing the fascia on the south side and west side. The only thing was I thought the price was a bit on the high side. On the other hand doing business these days cost a lot as well. Nice people and did a nice job.

2022-01-20Im an interior designer and I had Mr. Handyman booked for an installation to assist with hanging artwork, mirrors, shelves, curtains, and mounting some furniture pieces to walls. I worked with Aaron, and he was fantastic! Knowledgeable, kind, professional, and great quality work. Would definitely hire again!
