This place is awesome! I absolutely feel at home there. The director is so kind and keen on students getting the best music education. All teachers are so professional and have great knowledge of the instruments they teach. Ms.Maymona (May),especially, is an absolutely wonderful piano teacher. My 5 year old boy has learned so much from her because of her patience and good spirits!
I go for accordion lessons and Pavel is my teacher. I live up in Northern Michigan, so its a good ways to get down there, but the long drive is well worth it. Pavel is an excellent instructor and he pushes to make his students be the best they can be.I started practicing accordion only four years ago, but when I began taking lessons from Pavel about a year and a half ago, I noticed significant improvement, and he was able to catch and correct a number of mistakes I was making that my previous instructor had not caught. All in all, I highly recommend.
The Music Authority School is a wonderful and culturally important institution in the metro Detroit area. This school provides a focussed and professional educational experience that is enriching and rewarding to all ages and levels. I am so grateful to Pavel Vasilev and his team for providing this engaging and thoughtful program, that I have benefited greatly from.
I couldnt be happier with Music Authority School for my two children ages nine and six! Corinne and Beatrice teach them piano, and they are both amazing! Their personalities mesh well with the kids- they are fun and engaging and in the almost 2 years that my kids have been studying with each of them, they have progressed by leaps and bounds. They have been encouraged to expand their music note reading and theory and apply their knowledge with both classical pieces and the pop pieces that interest them. The administrative staff is wonderful- friendly and professional, and are very accommodating to our busy schedules. Whenever I have a scheduling conflict, they are always flexible in rearranging a lesson. The school is very well staffed and well run. And we very much enjoy the twice a year recitals at the Dearborn Performing ArtsCenter. Its great to watch my own kids and then watch the other piano students, violin, voice, guitar, percussion and accordion students. Its always a great show- from beginners to very advanced students. I cant recommend the school highly enough! FIVE STARS FROM THE MAKLED FAMILY!
Our family has been extremely pleased with our overall experience at Music Authority for over 4 years! Pavel is a knowledgeable and dedicated teacher. It is obvious that the entire Music Authority staff truly cares about providing an exemplary music education to all students. We highly recommend this amazing music school!
Music Authority is one of the best Music schools Ive been to. My Instructor John is very enthusiastic and friendly. When I rsumed my Piano Lessons with this school. John was able to observe my current skill level and go forward from there instead of haveing to go through a regilated dull pace from the beginning. I highly recommend this school for any and all connoisseurs of musical instruments for all ages.
I was a student here for 2 years and I do not recommend this school for the following 3 reasons:1. The contract setup is way TOO protective to the school than the interests of students. If you have conflict schedules they will FORCE you to take a rescheduled lesson within 2 weeks, rather than crediting the tuition back. This is very, very annoying since having two lessons in one week is not very helpful(might be back to back depending on schedule), and you are forced to do so or suffer from a financial loss.2. No one reminded me of the rescheduling process when I called in to cancel my lessons due to scheduling conflicts, looks like they just want it that way because the school benefits the most. They do not give teachers the money since no lessons was given. Music authority is the sole and only beneficiary of your schedule conflicts.3. When signing the contract they just want the info and signature, without explaining the clauses to me, so I didnt know about this cancellation policy until now. Till today I have already suffered for $350 tuition loss and they kindly explain to me they couldnt refund me because I signed the contract -- I have to blame myself for it for choosing it blindly. But the root cause and problem is, this is an UNFAIR CLAUSE -- unperformed work should not be credited, real easy and simple. My advice -- avoid if you can, you dont have to accept the unfair clause. I know schools out there respects your schedule conflicts.
The Music Authority is Awesome! My 5 yr old daughter has been going there now for about a year and she LOVES this school! She is taking piano lessons with Mr. Kenny, who to us is the BEST piano teacher she has had thus far. She has advanced much quicker than we ever expected her to at her age. She looks forward to her lessons and is disappointed when the lesson is over. The director Pavel Vasilev and ALL his teachers are respectful, knowledgeble, and fun to be around. They work around all busy schedules and the services they provide have more than exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend Music Authority in Dearborn Heights for anyone who wants to learn music and succeed!!!
Super friendly and helpful receptionists! Love that instructors share updates and progress after every music session to parents (not alot of music schools do that) Everything is on point as far as accommodating times to schedule lessons, professional, knowledgeable and optimistic staff.School itself is impeccable, and I couldnt pick a better music school for my child.
Professional, organized and thoughtful. Director Pavel is great at overseeing and quick to respond. We have nothing but wonderful things to say about our instructor and the rest of the support staff as well. Every interaction has been positive, professional and GENUINE. Thank you Pavel for creating a wonderful environment to foster learning and creativity.
I have been coming here for many years and I can honestly say that they are a great school for music. They have a passion for teaching the youth as well as the adults. Pavel, the head teacher, is the best teacher I have ever had and it is a privilege to learn from him. I really recommend coming here to learn to play any musical instrument.
As an adult, I was very anxious about inquiring after lessons, but I am so glad I did! The internet is very helpful, however, nothing can replace hands-on teaching and learning from a person who can actually physically guide and help you get the most from your instrument. Eons ago in school I taught myself how to play a few instruments and how to read music (this without the benefit of google or you tube) and I was actually pretty good, and I really enjoyed it. The health benefits of playing an instrument are amazing, and I really wanted to get back into steady practice. I decided to start fresh, with something I didnt have any previous experience with. Everyone Ive met at this school has been super friendly, helpful and professional. The environment is clean and relaxing. No one specifically taught the instrument I chose, but they have a teacher who owns and plays one, and was willing to get me started and running. I really cannot recommend this place more highly!
I have been a student at Music Authority for several years. Throughout the years, I have grown to be a better pianist. My teacher, Mr. Pavel, makes my lessons fun and very educational. I recommend anyone to enroll in this school. You will definitely grow as a musician.
Sorry had to do this, google is not letting me reply to Mr. Pavels response and I do have the following to say in regards to his response.1. If the cancellation clause is explained to me in details I would never choose Music Authority in the first place, it is not the top on my list. This is again an Unfair clause and the problem is it is hidden in the contract and not mentioned by anyone. Again, if anyone had explained this to me during my cancellation process, how would this happen? How could you say you care about students?2. This point is not true. I have already spoken with tutors at Music Authority School, they told me that if I dont show up in the class, they dont get paid. This is an answer I got a year ago from a tutor I talked to, if Mr. Pavel you change this recently you could mention it your response. But what I heard is what I heard and I believe people tells the truth when they are off-record. If you are willing to show the records I am happy to see them. Prove it.3. Is Music Authority Schools policy lawful? Have you consulted with a lawyer when making the policy? If so, Mr. Pavel could you please kindly provide the name and address of the law firm? Not all rules made are lawful. How are you sure your policy complies with Michigan Consumer Law?Sincerely,Fengyi Again
I’ve had the pleasure of taking violin classes here at music authority for the last few months, and the staff here have met my every expectation. The facility is clean, the atmosphere is perfect for learning and the staff is very passionate about teaching music, and wanting students to succeed.
Im so glad I started singing lessons here at Music Authority. I have learned so much since Ive started back in August. Im so glad for the experience I have had so far! Very professional and very talented instructors here at Music Authority. Im extremely happy with services provided, great school!
The following constitutes a review for Music Authority. It is not one written out of necessity.I am happy with my decision to enroll my son in piano.I consider musics place in education to be most apropos. It benefits the Three Rs of learning, which is easy to see.The process begins with reading the music, obviously.Instead to writing with a pen, he is playing the keys. This allows him to actively engage both hands with ease.Arithmetic is employed, and in no small amount. All performance must be coordinated with the note count. The school arranges nice recital events twice a year.Every kid should experience receiving applause and cheer.Mr. Kenny demonstrates great patience and teaching ability.Mrs. Jackie is a paragon of support and civility.I hope my son continues with them, and in summation,I give Music Authority my highest recommendation.
As an adult beginning piano student, I had fairly low expectations for the pace of my learning. Pavels teaching technique and supportive encouragement have helped me learn at a pace I didnt think possible! I look forward to lessons each week! I am developing an understanding of both technique and theory that I really enjoy!
I’ve been going to this school for violin for 5 months or so now. I am so happy that I found it. I had found a place near my work and went into to see about lessons. I was told the violin teacher would call me. I filled out paperwork to be contacted. I was never contacted and it made me very sad, because I felt like they just didn’t care or that no one wanted to teach me. Then I found this school. The people here really seem to care about the students. I love everything about this place. Being an adult and going here I sometimes feel out of place since I look around and it’s mosrly kids, but it never feels awkward when I’m playing in my lesson. It doesn’t matter that I’m an adult learning a new instrument. I love this place so much and my only complaint is that I didn’t find it sooner. I find myself looking forward to my lesson every week. I get excited when I get off work and get to drive to the school. It’s always the highlight of my week. I feel like I’ve learned more in these months than I ever did trying to teach myself.

2022-03-16Music Authority has been great! I’m an adult student and was reluctant to start lessons at this point, but my instructor has been flexible, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. I started in 2020 on Zoom and even when everyone went back to the studio, I’ve been able to continue on Zoom because it fits my schedule better. The team is always helpful and works with all my schedule complications and I’m loving my progress!

2022-03-26This is the only music school that teaches chromatic accordion in Michigan. Because of my amazing teacher, Professor Pavel, I won first place in accordion at the Great Lakes Music Competition. Thanks so much.

2021-03-04I am 17, and I became interested in learning guitar around November of last year. So, I looked for some teachers/schools to help me get started and keep me motivated along my journey. MAS was a top choice because of how affordable it is. My teacher, Mr. Dane Carten, is very helpful and understanding of my sometimes slow progression and also expresses eagerness and excitement whenever I am showing improvement. The owner has always been readily available on the phone when I have questions or concerns and I really appreciate his cordial, welcoming attitude. I am very grateful for my lessons and I fully intend on continuing for a while. I am excited to recommend Music Authority School to anyone seeking education in music!

2019-08-24My 5 years old son has been going to Music Authority School for almost a year now and he loves it. Music lessons on Saturday are the highlight of his day. Ms. Ayah is a great and fun teacher, she makes sure the kids learn something new every week. I love how the kids make something in class and get to take it home, it keeps the experience going beyond the classroom.I also took Piano classes with Mr. Dean who was very knowledgeable and patient. I am looking forward to come back this fall for more piano lessons.

2018-04-14Music Authority is truly amazing! I have recommended this school to many of my friends and all have been extremely satisfied. My daughter has been taking lessons at Music Authority for over 5 years and my son for about a year and a half. The teachers are very patient and work well with all ages. Appointments have always been timely. I have seen great progress over the years and can attest that these lessons have increased their discipline and confidence. Also, their recitals are very well planned and adorable. Highly recommended!
