Thanks to Star ⭐ who not only acknowledged us and introduced our new server ( in training ), but gave us history of the place, showed us where the pictures were on the side walks of the back room and then, showed us pictures of the upstairs and shared the history of the building. We enjoyed our time eating our lunch and enjoyed our burgers.I got a bacon cheese burger with The INN sauce and my hubby got the bacon, cheese and ranch burger. Both cooked to their medium rare perfection. Our french fries were cooked without being over greasy or over crunchy or dry.Totally going to come back!
Discovered New Hudson Inn during an evening drive yesterday via a restaurants near me Google search. An awesome decision! Knew we had to check it out especially since theyve been around since 1831! Then I knew Id love it as soon as we drove up. Atmosphere inside was great - chill, historic with a touch of rough. Cold drinks, food was soo good (they smoke most of the meats on their menu in-house and make their own BBQ sauce - which was also delicious!) and our waitress Maddie (spelling?) was the best! Its an hour drive from home, but well absolutely be back!
Mady, u lied and ur a back stabber. U were consistently lazy and gave poor service, customers complained about ur service constantly. I never said anything too management, I only apologized too ur customers. U think u leave at 8pm, and refuse to take tables. Sorry u had to take 2 tables after 8pm, I had all the rest and every table was occupied. Why r u running tray after tray after tray of 20 beers/drinks???? How many tables does Mady have? Place is completely full, ah.....she has table 13😵 tells me she only has $150🤣I got $600...wonder why?????
I have heard several times that the food her was very good and worth the stop. My wife and I were driving by and decided to stop in. The waitress Delaney was awesome but the food was not good at all. I didnt complain while I was there, mi bad, I usually do if there is a problem. Anyway I had the soft shell tacos that consisted of 3 dried out shells, almost leathery,a skimpy portion of meat and shredded lettuce I think there was 2 diced peices of tomato. My wife had a blt that was very dried out. Probably wont go back. The 2 stars was only becauseof the service
A WARNING to anybody considering the attendance of their open mic competition. The judging of this is a complete logical fallacy; they are people who have very little knowledge of musical theory or anything but guitar. The best piece of evidence would be when I personally questioned the judges. A woman said she dabbled in guitar but didnt know much about music and when I questioned Why are you judging then? she replied, I dont know, they asked me to.These people dont know a thing about music and simply judge based off of bias and whos sob story they feel touched them when on stage. It is imperative to look at the contestants and evaluate what they were capable of. Most were playing open chords, none had a melody nor solo, and (nearly, besides one,) all played guitar which is more overdone than butter on bread. There was a pianist who was the only person utilizing a dominant chord or chordal embellishments; he was also fed up with the judges not knowing a thing about musical theory. Note that he didnt even pass to the next stage but the guys playing good ol novice guitar did. There were two individuals who were new to guitar and who sang out of key, and played out of time; this is okay, but we were told they scored nearly as high as everyone else, even those who won. It is clear they are catering to people as to not hurt their feelings. This is further shown by what a woman told me about the winner: he competed last year but Covid shut down his chances of winning, so they probably gave this one to him.The idiocracy of running a competition with judges who arent capable is just a mockery of an event. My accordionist and I, whom are college students with a busy schedule, drove 40 minutes thinking this would be a great idea. Sadly, European music with jazz elements and advanced theory isnt better than your average guitarist to these people. We had designated solos, time signature changes, poetic lyrics, operatic vocals, and were the only duo. You can make the argument that Im a sore looser, but Im just speaking out so this doesnt happen to further people. We will never be back but find it crucial that talented musicians dont waste thier time on this thing. If you insist on having this event, have judges with some real credentials in music; otherwise, its a subjective contest of who has the best sob story and whoms friendlier with whom.
Awesome food and atmosphere. My wife and I stopped in for breakfast before opening our store and we were absolutely impressed with their food. You could tell the sausage gravy was made fresh, not out of a can, and their veggies tasted like they were picked fresh that morning.Nice work. We will definitely be back.
The fries were great! Service was great! One of the best burgers Ive had! My 6 year old had the pulled pork, he loved it! Not really a family place, but wasnt uncomfortable. My son is used to eating in non family establishments, so make a judgment call if you take kids or not.
The food is really good. The burgers are huge and taste great. The Michigan salad is really good. It is a friendly atmosphere with a friendly waitstaff. Also their sauces available for dipping chips or fries are really good. Price is what you would expect for a bar. Im looking forward to coming back.
Did you know?New Hudson is the oldest bar in Michigan?Look it up.Anyway...Ask for Pepper! She is the best.Personally, kind, funny and best of all... shes good at her job.She knows what your drinking and tells you to order food now when she knows the kitchen is closing. Nothing worse than getting the kitchens closed. Especially when your starving. Then you see a plate of wings hit the table next to you? I understand that bar kitchens do close before the bar does. She will get it done if at all possible? Ive had her savShell tell ask you If more people are coming so they can order food.Shell do a shot with you but not get sloppy.I had Philly sandwich tonight. Id get it again. Wings are big. Not a ton of flavors but again its a bar.
Worse bar ever bar tender’s are always in a bad mood all the time they also love to over charge your card so be careful I really stopped going here because of that and the people that go there just want to fight all the time and pick fights with you really not worth it but good food just order take out and get the hell out of there
Order to take out was taken at bar. The waitress taking the order was nice, but had to place my order between 2 heavy drinkers. My husbands instant heart attack burger was huge. He made 2 meals out of it. I ordered the onion rings for him and honestly I dont consider 3 onion rings an order. My pulled pork sandwich was also huge. I had fries and they were plentiful. All in all very good food
I love this place. One: for being convenient to anyone who is in the South Lyon/ New Hudson area. And two: for the history. Did you know this is Michigans older bar? Also did you know was connected to the underground rail road? For anyone who is a history buff youll love this place. Ask the staff about some facts they seem like they love to talk about it and everyone is super friendly.
Good Morning! Your website is showing you are open for breakfast and it’s also being advertised on the radio. Just wanted to let you know because when we arrived at 9:00 this morning the sign said “No breakfast.” Hope to try it out when staffing is better for you all.
This place is really cool highly recommend going there. Me and my fiancé went here on a referral from another friend and we live about 40 minutes away but it was worth the drive. The food was amazing! Beer was ice cold. And service was outstanding. Rochelle was our waitress and she was super friendly and got us everything we needed. Thanks for laughs Rochelle we will be back soon breakfast next time on Saturday 😄
Went for lunch about 11:30 Saturday 8/28/2021, Ordered cobb salad. Lettuce was so so, nothing good. No breadstick or roll. Too much money for the quality. My friend ordered the nacho. I ordered the small onion ring. You get 3. $5.49 because I ordered a second sauce. No one said there would be an upcharge. It was crowded and I do not know why. Food is average. Pass. Just bar food nothing special.
Food was pretty good in general. I ordered the smoked corn beef ruben. It was stringy and Unflavorful. I also upgraded to onion rings at a $2.50 up charge... I got 3 onion rings! Told the waitress I felt that was a bit excessive for the small portion and thought she should advise people of the ridiculousness of the portion or bring me a couple more. She told me she would have to charge me! Best advise.. don’t order the onion rings and pay the extra! Definitely not worth it! The other orders in my party were okay. Stick with the fries!
Came in from Florida, where are governor cares about his citizens and knows shutting down restaurants does nothing but destroy peoples lives. Sat in open tents, with our coats on. 6 apart, everyone was so happy to be able to go somewhere for a meal. Staff was so appreciative of being able to work. Left a HUGE tip. Food was good and fast. Been going to New Hudson Inn for over 30 years. Always loved the food, staff and the clientele. Highly recommend.
The atmosphere here is very friendly. When you arrive for breakfast, coffee comes with a recently made donut, hot and fresh. Pancakes span the size of the plate and and are very good.Burgers are nicely adorned with fixins. Good onion rings, but I think they changed the recipeWait staff is adequate but not outstanding. I like the historical significance of the building as well
Good food, great beer selections and super friendly and efficient wait staff. However, meeting covid 19 requirements was extremely absent at my last visit on August 21st. (Wait staff talking maskless over the condiments station. Perhaps they need to be told that covid is transmitted by aeresols from speaking, etc.)I wont be going back there until covid is no longer an issue. In the meantime, Ill miss their Philly steak sandwich and onion rings.
Was very disappointed about our last blvisit. Girlfriend got chicken sandwich and was to dry to eat. They did take it off the bill so that was very nice of them. I got the Philly but just way 2 much a-1 on it. I saw that it come with a-1 and still tried it but no meat flavor all a-1. We will give them another shot but disappointed this last time. Chicken nachos were great and onion rings were very good
Our company ordered food from New Hudson Inn today. We had pulled pork, chicken wings, sliders, baked beans, cole slaw and more. Everything was delicious! We all enjoyed the food very much. Many people were asking where the food came from. Hope this creates more business .
Amazing. Simply amazing. All the girls that work there are wonderful, and very good at their jobs. The food has never been cold, and the beer is always full.Breakfast is my favourite. The donuts are amazing. Never stop that. Great food, amazing service and a wonderfully cozy feel. I love the bands on Friday nights, and the once in a while Sunday morning acoustics. Breakfast is the best. Thier patio is heated, and even allows pups there!
We tried eating here for the first time but it was packed and you had to wait an undisclosed time. You enter and the bartender tells you theres a waitlist, which was fine. Then proceeds to tell you to go out to their outdoor patio to wait by the fire. They dont guide you there, they expect you to know where youre going then scold you when you stand there looking dumbfounded as to where to go for the outdoor patio. We finally just wander around trying to find it then get get stopped by a random waitress and yelled at to sign the waitlist. We told her we did and just trying to find the patio to wait. So we find the patio and the fires are smoldering and smoking. We find a spot the 6 of us in our party can wait, freezing. After about 20 minutes a nice guy I think that works there adds lots to each of the campfire rings, theres about 5 or 6. We sit there waiting, not sure how this system works. Do they call out our name and party? We sit another 20 minutes and we are about to go in and ask where we are in the line and they tell our party name, we get up to go to our table and its for 4 not 6. The gals like, oh Imsorry, I thought your party was 4 even though in big numbers we put 6. Shevtelks us we are going to have to go back outside and wait. My boyfriend is getting very impatient at the 45 minute wait weve already done innthe cold. Hes like lets go and well order out. so I tell the other 3 in our party we are going to go, they can take the 4 person table.Im sure this place has great food as from what 8 hear, but this set up was a mess. 8 appreciate them actually having heating outdoor slightly indoor dining but you need to treat your customers more respectfully than we were treated and have your system more organized and flow better. This was a coldmess. I wasnt impressed with the customer service we received. Maybe when its warmer outside and you can do seating better, Ill think about returning. However today, I was not impressed. I always strive to help the small businesses because i know they are hurting and we were lucky they had inside/outside seating during this restriction, but seriously? This experience was awful. We were starving and waiting 45 + minutes with no organization and rude customer service was just not the best.
This place is awesome! Great food, great people all in a quirky, casual setting thats a little rough around the edges in all the best ways. The Double bypass Burger was an epic experience! Get their French fries and ask for the Inn Sauce. The flavor is killer, hands down my new favorite fries. Ill defintely be back!
My boyfriends and I dine here pretty regularly. He eats there about once a week! The food, especially the barbecue on Thursday nights, is delicious! Portions are large, and Ive never been let down by the quality. They remodeled in the past year or two, including the bathrooms, which look great and are always clean. For dinner, Ive taken both of my Elementary aged children, and they have enjoyed it as well. I finally made it for the weekend breakfast. Heavenly! They make fresh donuts, have quality coffee in large mugs, the omelet was amazing, and the Bloody Mary was the best Ive had in some time. Definitely worth waking up early on a Saturday or Sunday for :-)
Amazing Breakfast. I dont get around to going here often enough, but when I do its always a good time. The beer is cold, the crowd is mixed and the food is fantastic. Stopped in while waiting for some work to get done on my car so I decided to have some breakfast. Normally you would expect bland light brewed coffee from this kind of place but I was surprised at how bold and dark it was and it wasnt just from sitting out it was freshly brewed. theyre taken corn beef and hash is spot-on I like that they leave more intact large pieces of corned beef in with the hash. Eggs with cooked to Perfection and to top it all off I got a free Donut with my visit... not sure if thats just a fall thing or if its a normal thing but it was an awesome bonus. both waitresses that tended to me were knowledgeable of the menu and the items on it also quick to refill coffee and have a quick chat. Definitely going to be coming here more often.
Was pretty thrilled with the place while sitting outside. Live music, patrons social distancing, and waitresses wearing masks. But then one of us stepped in to use the facilities. Was packed in there, with nobody wearing masks, INCLUDING the bartender! Id say just dont go in, but thats where your food and drinks come from. Not cool at all. Stay away till after the pandemic.
Recently updated and upscaled but still has that cozy and inviting feel. It still feels like the Inn of old. Food is really solid. Healthy salads to full on comfort food. Drink and food prices are fair and their specials are great. They feature live music and a bike night in the Summer.
Sunday brunch has many selections and is relatively consistent. Food is reasonably priced and the servings are generous. However, the location is primarily a bar with sports on the TVs, so oftentimes the service isnt as prompt and the environment not entirely kid friendly.
Such a great place, just wish it was closer to me. Went with a couple buddies after a funeral viewing(unfortunately) the happiness and cheerful mood and waitresses did all too well at making us crack some smiles with their beauty and charm. Jamie particularly, is gorgeous and so damn funny. Great food, great drink prices all in all we will definitely be back. Great cover music as well.
Weve been going here for years and they keep getting better. The food is very good, even my wife who is very critical of restaurants comments on how great their menu is, and its consistently good, not just a hit and miss. Wifes favorite is their salad with chicken walnuts and cherries. My favorite is the White Trash Nachos, excellent, and for the price you get more than you can eat, even if you share them. Reason for 4 stars is because even though the service isnt bad, sometimes you need to be a little extra patient to get another round.
The location is pretty big. The bar has sufficient seating. They had an awesome band playing (I believe the name was Parkside Wes) they played old Rock songs and were really good. The menu has different bar food items and they were good. The 🍔 were huge and delicious 😋. The servers were very friendly and attentive. Great location to enjoy good music, food, and 🍻. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because they do not have porters or stouts 😔.
This has been my hometown bar forever, and something to appreciate about this place is it doesnt have the horrid atmospheres of most places. The New Hudson Inn will bless you with the old time feel a bar should have, and its like one big family there. I appreciate the new hudson inn, and all the wonderful staff (Shout out to Jackie, Jason, Carl, Sam) yall rock and hold that place down to the ground 🤙and keeping the good times rolling
It is the oldest bar, I believe in MI. It isnt fancy, but has a nostalgic charm, they serve basic bar food, but do it very well. Great sandwiches and burgers, but my favorite is their wings, which are smoked, and very meaty, and stand out over all the wings Ive ever had
NHI is legendary. Biker bar look on the outside, but family oriented on the inside. And the food is surprisingly great. From their smoked meats, steaks, and nachos, they really have awesome food. And their breakfast fresh donuts are to die for. My wife once ordered the pancakes and they were bigger than her head. I even catered my 50th birthday party with their wings. Delish!
First time there last night. Service was okay. I tried the white trash nachos. They came cold. Asked for them to be heated. They came back luke warm. The pork was not bad but the rest not too good. There was some cheese on about 1/4 of the plate under all the chips, about 10 pieces of olives and very few scallions and not enough cremma to make any difference at all. My hubby had ground beef tacos that he said were nothing special. The live music was great.
We went there for breakfast and it was awesome Im pretty picky about eggs at restaurants they dont usually do them very well, but theres are cooked perfectly! The only thing I didnt like was there potatoes in a really dry but everything else was awesome definitely suggest it for a nice Saturday or Sunday breakfast option.
The New Hudson Inn is one of the oldest Inns in the state of Michigan. It shows its age with wonderful character and atmosphere. They always have good specials going and their drink prices are extremely fair. All year long they have taco Tuesday deals, but in the summer they have Tuesday steak night. They Grill the steaks on the outdoor grill and they are very delicious. I highly recommend a trip to the New Hudson Inn this summer.
We absolutely love this place!! We go for Sunday breakfast, they have hot fresh donuts (they are unbelievable and I dont particularly like donuts) complimentary and their breakfast burrito is fabulous. If youre going for lunch or dinner you must get the chicken wings! All the waitresses are wonderful too.
I absolutely love this place! The food is amazing here and so are the drinks! Everyone is so friendly that works here! I always enjoy coming up and spending time in this little bar that is unique in my hometown of 19 years! Will continue to come here and will continue to tell everyone about this place!
The New Hudson Inn has been a staple for the area for forever. The drink specials are always great. Its hard to beat a New Hudson Inn burger. The jalapeno burger is my favorite. The New Hudson Inn famous breakfast is awesome. The biscuits and gravy are really good. The smoked corned beef hash is up there with the best of them. Its never a bad thing when every table get freshly made donuts with breakfast. I highly recommend giving the New Hudson Inn a try if youve never been. If you havent been here in a while youre missing out. Go give them a visit. You wont regret it at all.
1st time here, very clean, fair prices, good atmosphere, delicious food and great wait staff!2nd time here tonight here with a big group for my nephews 23rd birthday. Waitress took our steak order, 5 minutes later she brings everyone our bill then leaves after we pay n to her. New waitress is awesome but our steaks after 90 minutes were still not brought out. Guess they gave our food to someone else. The2nd waitress took care of us and got us our food finally. I will never pay n tip a waitress ahead of time again. Not fair to waitress that took over
Perfect place to grab some drinks and bar food. Loud music, fun bartenders and large portions. Sometimes it gets a little too loud so if you are looking for a quiet spot to catch up with someone this probably isn’t it. Lots of TVs and high top seating. The patio is open all year but is awesome in the summer. People do smoke outside and it is a ‘biker’ bar so it can get a little Smokey. If that’s not okay with you I’d opt to sit inside. Overall the place is great for kicking back, listening to music & having drinks with friends.
I would give the food a 4. Cheese steak and pulled pork sandwich are really good. Pulled pork is saucy, not much fat, overflowing from the bun.Service was poor. Waitress brought 3 entrees and then 5-6 mins later the last entree. She was slow with our requests, drink refills, and our extras sauces came close to the end of our meal.
The New Hudson has some of the best sandwiches you can find. Their barbequed beef and pork are awesome. Spring and summer brings out the Wednesday bbq boys, and they really know what they are doing. Try the mashed potatoes, brisket, or order the sampler platter, if youre hungry enough. Beer is always cold and reasonably priced, service is extra fast. The patio is open year round now and is quite comfy! Try it once and you will make it a regular stop.
We missed breakfast which only goes till noon on the weekend. I got a cheesesteak and hubs got a Turkey Reuben. Neither were bad, just not great. The pickle spears had very little breading on them, which was also not great. Sorry we missed breakfast which I had been told is awesome.
Unbelievable! A hidden gem in plain site. Ive lived in the area for years and driven by a hundred times. Stopped for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Was greated with fresh donuts and a smile. The sausage gravy was out of this world and the half order of pancakes fed ALL of the kids. Menu is simple and to the point with all bases covered. Best thing is they were soooo good with the kids. Definitely a family place. We will be back and they also offer carryout for days when you cant dine in.
We go for lunch after South Lyons Memorial Day period. The workers got out food order correct. I just wish they had one more outside umbrella for our large group eating outside. 3 of us were in direct sun. But I blame logistics and not the hard working staff for that. However that is why I have 4 stars instead of 5. Good luck...cause we plan on continuing to visit your establishment of wonderful food!
Sat out on the patio last night and listened to live music. Had two awesome sliders(sliders are way bigger than most) and a tall draft and my bill was only $9. Great staff right on top of everything. I often go there for Sunday breakfast. Portions are very generous and delicious, not like the typical Gordon Food service coney island crap.
I have been here several times before and the service along with the food was outstanding, but this time it took over an hour to get our food and the waitress didnt even come by to check on us. And when she did it felt like she had somewhere else to be . I was very disappointed
Jake and Angela Bible from Ohio. Im here for training at hexagon. We were looking for a fun spot. We were having lunch and asked about good BBQ. Two people in the bar instantly said New Hudson inn! So we said alright dinner will be there. Wednesday is bike night and FAY BOY BBQ night. Delicious! Got sampler platter and brisket. There was also live music (inside and out). Trivia outside (my wife won 3 prizes and earned a nickname, spanks). Haha, had a blast with a classmate who also was looking for some social fun. We were very very pleased. Parking lot was full up. Recommend to anyone. Great time. Great music and people at this bar. 100%👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

2022-05-27I came to New Hudson Inn for the first time last night and had so much fun! The food was super tasty and came out very quick. There was live music outside on the patio. The environment was eccentric and fun. And the bathrooms were super clean, very pleased with that! Definitely will come here again :)

2022-03-07Pretty good standard American bar. Rustic atmosphere, clean, and well staffed. Great place for a burger and beer. Probably one of the best slim Jims I have ever had. Would give it 5 stars but I tired a burger that was under seasoned other than that no issues.

2022-01-06Highly recommend! Food was great, prices reasonable, servers are friendly and nice. Ordered the nachos appetizer as a meal, not realizing how huge it would be….will get several meals out of this! Burger was cooked to perfection.ORDER A SIDE OF BBQ SAUCE with your fries or burger. It’s a little sweet, a little smoky, a small amount of heat. The upcharge is totally worth it. So delicious.

2022-06-18One of my favorite places. There’s a reason it’s always busy. Servers and bartenders are usually pretty good, you can tell they’ve been doing this for a while. Perfect dive bar atmosphere, nice outdoor seating that’s protected from the elements. The people watching is great! Honestly the Cobb salad with their honey mustard dressing is so good!! Probably the best honey mustard I’ve ever had. I love the slim Jim, and when I order the onion rings, I get the tempura de sauce to dip them in. The pulled pork sliders are really good, and they are a great value.

2022-01-23My friends and I stopped in today (on very short notice) with a group of 12. They were very accommodating to us. Everything was great. The food was awesome and Brandi handled our party like a pro! Thank you so much Brandi and crew!

2022-02-23Always friendly staff with a pleasant atmosphere. Indoor and enclosed patio seating available. Been here a few times for lunch, enjoyed a few of their daily specials, but what finally inspired me to review this place was a gem they call the whole hog. Ham, pulled pork and bacon stacked high atop a bun and slathered with a deliciously tangy, sweet barbeque sauce. Best decision youll make all day.

2022-02-20Great food. Very reasonable prices Great old building. Loved the fact that it wasnt a chain restaurant. Wonderful live entertainment. Not so loud that you had to yell while trying to have a conversation. Probably the 2nd best Reuben sandwich I have ever had. Everything we have had there has been very good. We will definitely be adding them to our list of goto places to dine and they are 25 minutes away from us. Well worth the drive.

2022-05-15You would be hard pressed to find a bar/ restaurant with more character. Dating back to 1831, it is Michigans Oldest Bar. Staff and food was great. (Dude, get the wings!!) We ate in the far west dining area tonight but they have an awesome patio area also.

2022-06-16Giving 5 stars because the 1-star reviews are purely petulant. You get what you asked for. People come here for the history. You want someone to care about how long your food is taking or exactly how your taste buds feel about it, go to the Whitney and pay $200/person. Up to you. Me, Im chilling. I see something I dont like, Ill move along. I dont own the place. Ill make sure to tip appropriately and dispute any extra charges on my card. Not that hard if youre a decent human being.
