Came in to order take out, and the cashier was acting as if I was a bother with my order. He got my order incorrect before paying and when I pointed it out, he replied with an eye roll.I loved going to this place, but the customer service has gotten poorer.Edit: I noticed I did not get my order of Nogi rolls, and the prep guy was adamant that he packed it. Thankfully the manager calmed him down, but where is the customer service. I didn’t get what I paid for and am accused of lying?
No Thai— a college student classic! This is one of those comfort-places that just satisfies your Thai cravings for a relatively affordablePros: good selection, good prices, lots of locationsCons: it’s not the best quality in the world but it never claims to be either, sometimes you get unlucky and get a dish where they totally mess up the spice levelMy recs: pad seeyu, sweet and spicy chicken, curry pad Thai, drunken noodlesPro tip: get their point card!
Was in Ann Arbor for the afternoon and at dinner time I wanted some good Asian food. A Korean restaurant was recommended to me, but when I got there it was really pricey and didnt have yuk gae jang. So, I ended up here instead for some Thai food. The food is cheap enough, and you get a lot for the price, but it wasnt very good. I wouldnt come here again.
Was ok.. expected a lot more, because me and my wife love Thai food and eat frequently towards detroit area .. food was ok.. dont expect different or special. Good for a quick getaway food .. we ordered medium for food.. the chef must have forgot to add at all.. lol.. the food felt undercooked.. and it felt that they food was warmed up in microwave especially the crab wonton and veggie spring rolls.. the is review is specifically for this location.. please dont judge fast. I have been here only one time and that was my openion..
Absolute horrible service. Got my order completely wrong and I lived to far away to get it replaced, so they offered to give me a free meal next time I was in. Went back the next day and they only offered to comp half. When I refused to pay and told them my meal was supposed to be comped, they told me that they couldnt do anything and I could pay or they would throw it out. They ended up throwing it out. Id highly recommend Thai Spoon if you are in the area, food is better in my opinion and service is worlds better. Slightly less convenient, but worth it.
I’m come here frequently and always order the sweet and spicy chicken. I’ve realized the past couple of times that it tastes very different than usual. The breading on the chicken as well as the sauce isn’t the same. I really hope they change it back. I will no longer be visiting this location.
I absolutely love coming here. They have delicious food and the customer service is usually on point. The employees have taken the time to remember my order (as I am a regular to their store for lunch) and are always incredibly pleasant and kind. They are always upfront with wait times and the restaurant is always clean. The restaurant is incredibly well run for how much foot traffic they receive every day. Their reward system is also a huge plus, as you can get a free meal after buying 10 meals. Their portion sizes are always very generous as well! They’re running their business right! ☺️
Only received 1 star because that was the minimum I could give!!! Horrible service, unorganized, rude employees!!! I called and pre ordered my food for pickup an HOUR and 15 MINUTES ahead so that I could just come and pick it up on my lunch break. Not only do I get there and stand around for 10 minutes before even being asked if I had already placed an order but once I give the name I wait another five minutes to be rung up. I PAID for my food only to THEN be told it was going to be another 20 minutes! After asking why my food wasn’t ready and I ordered well over an hour before. Employees standing around doing nothing began to laugh. Waited ANOTHER 5 minutes just to be refunded. -10/5 highly unrecommended!!!! If you want no Thai I suggest ordering from any location besides the downtown 4th st location !!!!
No Thai is my favorite Thai place in Ann Arbor, though I dont think there are too many of them around. The sweet and spicy chicken is delicious and is worth asking for extra meat. I also really like the spring rolls and drunken fried rice. Well priced and great sized portions. If you like Thai food and are in the area, stop in at any of the locations. Everything is delicious.
We’ve been eating at No Thai for years and have eaten at all their locations. Never been disappointed-until today. I called their other locations for takeout and was told a 40 minute wait (unusual for 7:30pm on a Friday, but okay). So we decided on this location and ordered. Food was out in less than 40 min, but when I got there to pick up, there were only 4 people in the restaurant. Not sure what was up with the long wait times, but this has happened at No Thai regularly over the last few months. This particular night was midnight madness which could be a factor but again, there were only 4 others eating in the restaurant while we were there. Takeout from No Thai used to be 15-20 minutes. So we got our food, which had just come out and was hot and fresh, but there were some issues. The crab wontons we ordered were so overcooked/stale we could barely bite through them. I’ve had these dozens of times at other locations and they are always crispy, fresh and delicious. Tonight they were inedible. Also, the tofu in my pad cashew was burnt-like crunchy, bitter, and black. Not cool. So this was an unusually bad experience at this location. Overall, I really love No Thai but there are some issues that need to be addressed to keep me coming back.u
I order pad thai fairly frequently here. When the make the order correctly (about 50% of the time), its delicious, so I keep trying. The portion is huge, so its a good buy for the price. Every single time, I order medium plus spice and about half the time there is no spice at all, which is what I got today. Its super disappointing. They need to work on their consistency of quality.
This place is the greatest we order delivery all the time for lunch at my office.... Like multiple times a week is realistic for the average will. It shows up like it just came out of the wok moments ago always piping hot and delicious. I cant say enough good things about them. One of the best that restaurants around in Ann Arbor.
No Thai has decent food for a quickish bite. The wait times can get up pretty high depending on the time you go. The food is good, but can vary quite a bit. The spice level is generally what varies. I typically have to go one spice level lower than I really want just in case they go to high with the spice level. If the wait times and spice levels were more consistent, Id be giving it a 5 star rating.
Its been a little while since eating here but overall not any issues or complaints. The one quality of a meal for me is how full/protein I receive for the cost. Theres something to be said for just plain how good did it taste, but thats for rich people in my opinion. Good food but expect to be hungry again in a few hours depending on what you purchase.
Warning to vegetarians!! My husband and I used to eat here regularly, and I always ordered the Potato Curry with tofu. Always, because Im a 20+ year vegetarian (not vegan). One day, I get a phone call from my best friend who had ordered a dish with the red curry and tofu, and was warned that the sauce was not veg. I never received such a warning, EVER. One sauce, I think the Green Curry, is marked vegan. I assumed the Red Curry, which is slightly creamy, contained some dairy or egg, thus not being vegan. I called the store to express my concern, basically asking them to warn *all* folks ordering tofu with non vegetarian sauce of what they are doing (I promise I was nice, and stated I know it is ultimately my responsibility to verify what Im eating is veg) I was basically told that since one sauce was labeled vegan, I should have known all the rest contained meat ingredients. I will probably eventually go back and try the Potato Curry with the vegan sauce, but the situation and the staffs response kinda turned me off for a bit.
I love No Thai for sub par Thai food. BUTTTTT tonight I waited 50 minutes for two items plus spring rolls. They were sort of busy but there were no less than 5 people in the kitchen. When I got home, no effing spring rolls and both dishes had chicken - we’re vegetarians. Maybe y’all need to stop smoking so much weed?
This location doesn’t serve drinks with food-apparently due to the pandemic? I’ve heard a lot of strange things blamed on the pandemic so far, but the ability to cook and sell food to customers, while also not being able to sell them drinks in a pandemic, makes the least sense of all of it.
Awesome fast food style Thai food. Not super, but definitely will make you feel happy if in the mood for Thai. Nogi rolls (like a cheese steak egg roll) are not authentic at all, but they are very good. Would recommend Pad Basil, Drunken Noodles, or Curry Fried Rice. Also Sweet and Spicy Chicken is way better than normal General Tso Chicken from a typical a Chinese restaurant.
Nearly every time Im in Ann Arbor for work I stop in here. They have vegetarian dishes, along with beef, shrimp or chicken. My favorite is the Pad Thai. They have very hearty portions, and the establishment is kept clean. Prices are very good for downtown Ann Arbor, $10.08 for a chicken pad thai and they dont skimp. They have a pretty decent menu, bugging l nothing eclectic, but it has noodle dishes, fried rice, and white rice with the main dish. Give them a try for great fast casual dinning experience!
Amazing Thai food ( In truth one of the very few Thai places Ive been to, and dont really know if it is authentic Thai food, but amazing food). You have options to substitute the sauce to 2 veg sauces for vegetarians and vegans. In love with their green curry sauce(veg) , but heard their red sauce is even better!!
I love no thai because their food is delicious even though its not authentic. However, I ordered food the last day before they closed for quarantine. I absolutely could not find the tip section online for the delivery driver, so I looked for cash. I didnt have much, but I did find a few dollars in quarters. I felt bad thats all I had until the driver got here. He was extremely weird and accusatory. He said things like you know, 30% of students dont tip, I always take the non-tipping deliveries, etc. When I told him I couldnt find the tip box online he said yeah a lot of people say that. So then, maybe its an actual problem? This restaurant is less than half a mile from my house and I paid the full delivery fee, so if I choose not to tip I can do that (even though I intended on it).In addition, I figured it would be a no contact delivery so I waited a minute after he called to go get the food. He instead decided to wait out there with my food so he could harass me about the tip. He waved at my roommate through her bedroom window like a creep while waiting for me.I will DEFINITELY not be returning to this specific no thai out of fear of this man and probably wont be going to any others.
Fast, good value, and delicious! No Thai is a no fuss, consistently delicious place to go and satisfy your Thai craving. I had the pad Thai curry with chicken, which was enough food for dinner and a box of leftovers to go for $9. Solid place to go for a casual lunch or dinner with a friend!
This is one of my favorite places for a quick bite! Service is always great and Ive never had a bad experience. All the locations in Ann Arbor tend to get busy around meal times, so there may be a small wait at times. Just goes to show how popular this place really is!
Not only is the food great but so is the staff. The drunken noodles are incredible and it’s always my go to for quick take out. Two years ago I was almost hit by a car at the cross walk on my way into no Thai and had a good cry inside and all of the staff were so sweet to me, the man who almost hit me came inside (he was very inebriated) and started screaming at me. The whole staff formed a circle around me and told him that if he didn’t leave the cops were going to be called, once he left one of the chefs walked me to my car to make sure the driver wasn’t waiting out there. I couldn’t thank them enough!
Had to deduct a star from my previous review because the order had the wrong rice -ordered brown got white- and the spice level is always a roll of the dice but the excess heat of this order was a bit too much. I may update this review if I have a better experience in the future
Fast-casual, hipster sell-out. I was hoping for some decent Thai. Instead I got millennials-r-us. I should have left when I noticed the menu board, think Chipotle (pick a protein, pick a dish) but replace it with curry/noodles. My hunger and abbreviated lunch break prompted me to stay. I ordered, while the cashier was being interrupted with phone orders. The food took 20+ minutes to come out and was okay at best. You could get better (and cheaper) in the frozen section of your local market. The eating area was so loud and obnoxious, full of people raving about how good it was. Its really sad. If you have any respect for Thai, stick to the authentic, non-franchised stuff.
Some of the most delicious go to places in Ann Arbor. No Thai has an assortment of Thai dishes that range from sweet to really spicy but everything tastes delicious. The portion sizes are really generous and one serving will easily provide two meals if you can contain yourself from how good the food is. And the Thai Iced tea is especially to die for! If youre looking for something, good, simple, and reasonably priced, this is the place for you.
The service was prompt, so my review is not reflecting on their level of service. My review is a reflection of the flavor of their food. The place was nice and clean, however I came here for Thai Food.I ordered the Pad Pak w/ Chicken at Yoga Flame level spice, which is supposed to be their second hottest. I was really looking forward to having a delcious Thai meal as its one of my favorite cuisines and I have been to many places, and not limited to just Michigan. (Thai Ocha - Plymouth, MI is my local standard)Vegetables in dish:I noticed that the vegetables didnt even look like they were sauteed in the pan. Its as if they just grabbed a handful of veggies and threw it into the dish to serve it right from the fridge. This is not how you anyone should cook their Stir Fry. Stir Fry, means you actually stir the veggies and lightly Pan Fry them to give them flavor. Im not eating a Veggie Salad here, so dont toss in veggies straight from the fridge.Chicken:You should probably use a general seasoning for your poultry, because it lacked any flavor, and didnt pick up any flavor from the dish either. If youre going to pre-cook your chicken, then flavor it with something that works across the board. If not, then dont pre-cook your chicken. It seriously had no flavor at all.Spice Level:I expected my mouth to be somewhat on fire for ordering the second spiciest option, the Yoga Flame. Honestly, this was really mild. Taco Bells spice packets are spicier than this, thats pretty sad that your food isnt as spicy as a fast food taco joint. If you want to step your food game up, I suggest eating at Thai Ocha in Plymouth, MI. Thats some real thai food, real flavor, real quality. If you come to No Thai, expect to get No Thai Food. Its way too Americanized and lacks everyhting Thai Food should have. FLAVOR.
So I work very close and have been here quite a few over the years. Its always hit or miss, its either really good or really bad. I typically get the pad thai and Ive had the noodles way over done, swimming in water in the container, and then today Im pretty certain no sauce was used on the noodles so it tasted like chicken with noodles and bean sprouts.
Conveniently locatedThere are only two Thai restaurants in downtown A2. This one is a bit less expensive and the portions are slightly bigger. Given that the quality is only slightly lower, I call it a tie. You need to leave downtown for the best Thai food around.UPDATE: One year or so later. Now, this is the only Thai restaurant in town.
Love this place! Staff is friendly place looks clean. Guy with the long hair should have had it all the way up and a hat on but whatever. The only thing is, having worked in food service Im not sure why every time I go there they have close to 10 cooks in the kitchen. They just seem to be tripping over each other.
You cant go wrong with any of the No Thai locations, but this one may slightly edge out the others. The Green Curry, Potato Curry, and Pad Thai Curry are cant miss, delicious meals. We always get the tofu, being vegetarians. Swap out the brown curry for green curry, when going with the potato dish. This is a vegan option, which should the fish sauce base, if you need to go that route.
I love No Thai. It is an easy way to transition yourself into Thai food. It is always very fast and always fresh because the food is made to order. My favorites are Potato Curry with Chicken, Spice Level In-between Medium and Yoga Flame and Pad Pak with Beef, Spice Level In-between Medium and Yoga Flame. Their Nogi Egg Rolls just melt in your mouth as well.It has been my favorite restaurant since 2010 when I moved to Ann Arbor.
Ordered delivery for myself and a co worker yesterday. Food arrived promptly and was good, but later that night both of us got severely ill from norovirus. There is obviously a severe lack of good food safety policy here. Would not feel comfortable trying anything from here again.
No Thai, means no go thai!!! I dont care how many people rated this place 5start. If i can i will give it zero star. The food was very cold and they refuse to warm it up, kept arguing(like how can you not recognize or feel that a food is cold), the spring rolls was nasty. I ended up returning the food not evening an apology even if you cant refund my money. I will never recommend this place to my worst enemy. Its a waste of my time nd money. Never!!!!
I basically survived undergrad on No Thai. Curry fried rice, yoga flame, chicken, extra egg, extra chicken. Can never go wrong. Sometimes the drunken fried rice was a MUST too. I kid you not when I say that their food fueled me during some of my best performances during my time at the theatre school.
I called at 10:35 to place a to go order and was told because the roads are bad they will not do it. I told them I walk there so the roads do not matter to me (I live two blocks away). Yet they still would not. They said if You can walk here in the next five to ten minutes we will make it for you. The whole point of carry out is so the customer is not waiting on food. What a joke.
Now I know why its called No Thai. No Thai Would Eat Here is the full name. I ordered the Drunken Noodle when I was assured it was the same noodle as in Pad See Ew. Pad See Ew noodles are stir fried Thai noodles, soft with a pleasant texture. What I discovered, to my gross disappointment, was Italian fettucine noodles. Chewy rubbery fettucine noodles at that. OMG. $9 for chewy rubbery Italian fettucine alfredo noodles (I had the shrimp so it was an extra buck @ $10.) Dont tell me that its a lesser thing priced low for students. No. Listen I know a dozen decent Thai places you can get real Pad Siu or Pad See Ew for less than $10. This was just done on the cheap to make an extra buck with no concern for quality. Ugh.
Called in today around 9:30 for a pick up and the manager answered was very rude can’t take order at this time because they are closed. It say you guy close at 10:00 on your website I really can’t believe this very bad Measurement And Custemer services never going back there even if they give me free food. 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎 🚯🚯🚯🚯🚯🚯🚯🚯🚯🚯🚯🚯🚯🚯🚯🚯🚯🚯

2022-01-17I’ve never had an issue in all the years I’ve been eating here, but my last experience was not the best. Choked on a plastic ribbon that was in my Pad Thai Curry. Love this place, but please work on quality control a bit more.

2021-12-03Me and the girlfriend love No Thai, but the portions are just too small for the price. If you go to any Chinese restaurants and get any chicken dinner special its filled to the top for $8-$10. But not at No Thai! when you get it it will look like your meals already half eaten! Or you could you could get the chicken and broccoli and only get broccoli somehow 🤔 🤷....she got chicken and broccoli and I got the sweet and spicy chicken.

2021-08-18Pretty good food and friendly service. Only the green curry is vegan as all the other dishes have fish sauce, but they let us sub in the curry sauce on other dishes. (Pictured: green curry w/ tofu)

2022-07-13Food was superbly dried out. The tofu was empty inside. It was just a shell not meaty aaaatttt all. Just skin. The chicken was coated in a red sauce but was hard and cut into bit size pieces. Not bite size but scrap like bit sizes. My takeout looked nothing like what was on the counter for a dine-inn customer. Perhaps dine-inn gets a different quality?!?! I dont know

2021-08-07I left Ann Arbor three years ago, No Thai was the first place I ate upon my return. Still has my favorite Pad Thai. Fast, good and inexpensive. Whats not to like?

2022-05-08Reply to owner’s comment below: Sorry if I missed the clear tip button, but I couldn’t see it easily (I looked at the screen at least 20 seconds). Next time I will check the screen more carefully. I upgrade my rating to a 3-star. But, still the food (for all 4 of us) were quite salty, and we had to drink lots of water. I wish they were less salty. ThanksYou can’t charge a 10% tip when you take an order.I don’t tip when I place an order at McDonald. Why do they charge a 10% tip on orders by default? I’d rather give my tip at mcdonald or Burger King, but not here. The screen forces you to tip. It’s a self serving restaurant. No one serves my menu or take my plates. They call you when food is ready like McDonald. It’s exactly the same as fast food restaurants, but you have to tip a 10%. I won’t go here anymore.

2019-12-10I am a frequent customer of No Thai for the past several years. Recently the Customer Service has been lacking to say the least, and Ive been pretty consistently disappointed. Today I placed a pick up order, and upon arriving back to my office I opened up my container to find a long black hair wrapped around the top piece of chicken. I called back to No Thai and they stated that I would have to come back into the restaurant, as they would not deliver a new meal to me for the disgusting inconvenience! I left work yet again, and went back to the restaurant expecting to receive an apology or have a manager speak to be about the incident. Instead the girl behind the counter handled me a new meal that they prepared. I informed the girl that I did not want a new meal, as I would just prefer to have my money returned at this time. Looking behind the counter into the kitchen there were several people handling food with long dark hair, and none which had their hair tied back or in a hair net When I asked the girl behind the counter if she would like to see the hair in my food she looked disgusted, and said absolutely not!. There is no Customer Service at No Thai and this will be the last time I come into their establishment. Note for Management- Customer Service is defined as the assistance and advice provided by a company to those people who buy or use its products or services.
