Comment: The service had not even begun with this moving company service and it was a complete nightmare in addition to the fact that they had already received full payment of over $13,000.00!!! Please save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere! I do not write this review in anger, I write this with full integrity and in all seriousness when I say go elsewhere. I am so very disappointed at the level of inconsiderate and less than professional customer service. Its almost does not feel real it has been so unbelievable. Peter Mazzetti, President was the escalation point of contact that we were provided and in engaging with him, it was confirmed why the demonstration of far less than professional, ethical and courteous and communication and behavior was occurring. Following our telephone call where I reminded Peter that I am not a child to be chastised by him, but the customer who was not satisfied with their solution to in a last minute delay because their drivers truck broke down and they did not have anyone else to move me, he then emailed me in an attempt to document a LIE alleging that I canceled the services for the move at the 11th hour when I asked him to confirm the amount for a full refund. He went as far as to blatantly lie in the email to say that I was cussing him out. There were never any curse words used in any of these conversations as I do not use that kind of language. When I called Peter back confront him for the lie and to discuss why he would say that, he hung up on me four times and then emailed me to say it was because he did not like my tone of voice and that I was now harassing him at his office and wanted me to cease and desist. Needless to say, I can only find humor in these allegations as I have never had an experience with a grown man who is also an attorney and General Counsel for the company that hurled false allegations as blatant liar in a sad attempt to save face by documenting false allegations in an email. To add insult to injury and to show how far he is willing to go with the lies, he stated that he would be sending me an invoice for cancelling for the hours and equipment booked after notifying us the night before they were supposed to show up that the truck was broken down and they wanted to pick up our things and store them in a warehouse until the truck was fixed or until another truck became available. They did not care that I was not comfortable with that given COVID 19. Peter Mazzetti, James Thomas and Phil White for all of these persons, BUYER BEWARE! This company is far more high priced than most movers, but the quality of service falls far below even minimum expectations.

Comment: Nor-Cal works with Allied Moving. I was looking to do a cross country move from the Bay Area to Central Oregon. I called a dozen or more moving companies and they were the only one I could find who would deliver to that area. Chris, my representative, explained that the area is in a bit of a dead zone, so not many places will move to there. This is a full service moving company (as full service as what you’re willing to pay for, at least)! They were very professional and attentive to my questions and needs. There are a lot of moving scammers out there, so one thing I really appreciated here was the fact that we did a full video walkthrough twice before moving (once before I packed/moved a few items and once after that mini move). The only reason I am not giving them 5 stars is that we had one item missing from the full move. It was nothing essential and I’m not terribly upset by it, but I would recommend if anything is near and dear to you to pack yourself. Other than that, we were very happy with Nor-Cal. Just a tip out there for folks considering other companies - you get what you pay for. They weren’t the cheapest bid, but they were by far the most professional I talked to.

STAY AWAYCROOKS AND LIARS - As a follow up to this review the owners of the company offered me $6000 to settle this situation and then without rhyme or reason wrote me that they were reneging on their offer because it was not allowed under Federal Law. They claimed to not know that they were not allowed to make this offer. What kind of owner of a company does not know the laws that govern it?TERRIBLE COMPANY. We did a cross country move with NOR-CAL MOVERS and they were terrible. Once our items arrived at our new home we found that boxes packed by us had been opened by the moving company and additional items and boxes were put inside. Mostly our wardrobes with our hanging clothes had been opened from the bottom. Flipped over and stuffed with additional things thereby crushing our clothing. The boxes were delivered to us up side down. All clothes wrinkled and a complete invasion of privacy. The stories could go on but for now just know I wouldn’t ever use this company or Let anyone I know use them. I was warned by other moving company’s that “Hayward’s finest” was the wrong way to go. Sadly I now agree.

Comment: My move was from CA to NC, for both household goods and vehicle transport. We packed our own goods, and opted for full-value insurance. The full cost for the service was $10,360.My experience with having my household goods moved was exceptional! The crew arrived on time, and called about an hour before arriving. The crew arrived, took a quick inventory, and proceeded to move my belongings to the transport truck. The team was very personable, engaging in light conversation, and verbalized what they were doing in each step.During unpacking, the team that delivered my household goods were equally phenomenal! I really enjoyed how professional the two-person delivery team was--even with having to climb to the third floor with all my belongings constantly. For a cross-country move of a 3-bdrm apartment to only have one casualty, Ill take it with a smile. Thats why we opted for the insurance.Now, all of that was wonderful, and Id highly recommend it. The problem is automotive transport.To have the car moved accounted for about $1,800. The contract provided a guaranteed pick-up window, and a guaranteed drop-off window. With this information, we (my wife and I) pre-scheduled several interviews so we could hit the ground running. The pick-up occurred afternoon on the last day of the pick-up window, no problem.When we arrived in NC, a relative helped us get to the store and buy essential necessities while we awaited our car that was due in by Wed of the following week. On Friday of the week before drop-off due date, I was advised “We should know delivery better around 4/06 - 4/07.”. Keep in mind that our contract states that the car is guaranteed on time by 4/8.The following week would prove that this company does not stand behind their promises, and the guarantee is worthless. I was later notified that the car would be two days late. In response, I asked about the rental car since the contract states that a rental car will be provided if delivery is delayed. I was offered a $35/day reimbursement, and not provided a rental. In my area the absolute cheapest rental was $77/day plus taxes and fees.At this point the company was in beach of contract as they did not provide the rental car. This caused us to miss one of the interviews that we had scheduled based on the guaranteed delivery date; believing that if the car was late, wed get a rental. A lot of back and forth went on, a lot of sorry, and still no car. Several days later and still no car, still no rental, and still in beach. Finally, I was advised that management approved to pay the difference between the $35/day offered, and the current rate. When I dashed how this would work, I was told it would be a reimbursement. Absolutely not! Not only am I expected to pay $77/day plus taxes and fees for their failure to uphold their guarantee, but I also had to pay a $300 deposit. The total cost to me at time of rental was going to be about $750! I had $0.85 in my bank, and $300 left on my credit card (made sure I kept that available just in case the car was late and I had to put a deposit on the rental they provided).Numerous emails were sent, numerous requests to speak to management, and I got ghosted. No one could assist me. Not from NOR-CAL, nor Allied Van Lines. I even reached out to Lesli Bertoli (VP & General Manager, Alas Van Lines), with no resolution offered. My car was FINALLY delivered today, SEVEN days past the latest guaranteed delivery date.All told, we missed, or had to reschedule, three separate interviews for work because our car was not delivered when it was guaranteed to be delivered by. Now were struggling to figure out how to pay our bills next month since we wont have enough time at work to get paid before the bills are due.The company charged me based on a contracted agreement, they broke that agreement, cost us three interviews for gainful employment, and all they say is sorry. So much for guarantees, though I guarantee that if I broke the contract, Id be fined and wouldnt get my stuff until I paid the fine.

They marked up my walls, slammed furniture into the door frame. Then they just left! Dumped things anywhere, didn’t properly assemble item. Comment: I thought a professional moving company would be easier than packing, loading & transporting household myself. HUGE mistake. Lead Crew person for packers reeked of alcohol. We toured home for labeling of boxes: bedroom 1,2, master, as well as 3 bathrooms & other rooms. My clothes, expressly laid out for travel (& noted by lead crew person) were packed! Person packing kitchen did great job. Rest of crew packed items from 1st flr garage with items from 2nd flr bedrm & bathroom 3rd flr. Packed motorcycle helmet with no protection, bottom of box with unprotected framed art work. Charged me for expensive wardrobe boxes (w/hanging rod) & used them for quilts & miscellaneous items that would work in regular (less expensive) boxes. The sloppy packing was UNLABELED! When transportation crew arrived at new residence we had NO IDEA which of 3 floors boxes needed to be deposited at. Resulting in my carrying heavy boxes upstairs/downstairs now as crew had no idea, nor did I, where they should be left. I have moved cross country multiple times, packing myself & driving U-Haul & never had the HORRIBLE experience I’ve had by paying a “professional??” Moving company. The driver of the truck & crew who (did their best) to unload were EXCELLENT. I took pictures of a lot of the chaos & intend to advise Nor-Cal (associate of Allied) of their unprofessional service.

Comment: The estimator, Phil, was easy to work with and gave me the kind of not-to-exceed contract I wanted. His estimate of the number and types of boxes really helped me plan my own (partial) packing and then at the end, I actually got a refund back because Id packed some and came in under weight as well.The packers were quick, courteous, and took special care when they needed to. Everything Ive unpacked so far (including the whole kitchen and several computer monitors) came through without a scratch or break.The driver was awesome as well and managed to make it to my place several days early. He really took responsibility for the unloading and made sure everything was where it should be. He reassembled everything perfectly too. That included a complex bed, desk, and TV stand.The third party service they used to crate the glass shelves for the TV stand were also very nice but a little harder to coordinate with. Mostly because the driver had set such a high bar.And through it all the move coordinator was only a phone call or email away, keeping me up to date on where things were.Ive used professional movers before, and so far, these were the best.

Comment: The move went very well. Phil did a very good job of explaining everything and answering our questions prior to the move. Lucy was very good at coordinating the actual move. The packers worked very hard and packed everything to our satisfaction. Only one item was broken in the move and I was able to fix it with a little wood glue. The only thing that we werent real happy with was the guy who did the inventory. He was pretty flakey. The inventory was very difficult to read and decipher. Since we didnt make a damage claim, it turned out to not be a real problem. The unpackers on the Colorado end, also did a very good job. We were very happy with our move with NOR-CAL Moving.

Comment: The crew we had on 10/5/2018 in Alameda, CA, was stellar. They took great care in packing and loading our household belongings for a cross-country move. I highly recommend Nor-Cal. The delivery end, however, was a disaster. The truck was days late, and when it arrived, the crew on the unloading end (not Nor-Cal) did not re-assemble any of the furniture as promised. They left our refrigerator out on the front porch and it was damaged in the sub-freezing temperatures. Several items were lost in transit, including the base to a family heirloom antique bookcase. They ripped off the sides of our gas grill, dragged it through the mud, scattering the BBQ tools in the mud along the way. They did not put most of the boxes in the rooms they were marked for-- they just heaped them in the garage. I dont know who Allied Van Lines contracted for the unloading end, but it was a very, very disappointing experience. I did file delay, damage and lost items claims with Allied, but it was hardly any compensation for what we went through.

His assistant, Lucinda, is very professional and provided details and updates through out the entire process— I didn’t have to call her to check in, she was on it. Mike Seeger delivered our belongings, he is prompt, professional, and his communication is on point. He called a two or three days before delivery to confirm and let me know when he and his crew would arrive. He and his crew are efficient, and very friendly. I highly recommend using Nor-Cal Moving!

Comment: The office support staff is great, but you have really watch the packers. They come as a team and each person packs a separate room. The man who packed my kitchen was fine. The rest of my 2br apartment packers were extremely careless & haphazard. I followed Nor-Cals pre-move booklet and did not pack my printer. I put it right next to its original packing box, which I pointed out to the packer. Result- printer tossed in the movers box wrapped in a few sheets of newsprint. The original (empty) printer box also wrapped and put in a separate box. Printer is now broken.Same story with my Apple TV. I have 3 antique illustrations in archival frames. Packers put these in boxes without any paper at all. they were used as supports framing the inside of a box. Most of my wooden furniture is scratched. I suggest you have 2 people watching during your pack. Two stars because I dont think they lost anything. (still unpacking)

Comment: I used Nor-Cal for a residential move from California to Texas. I was referred to them by Allied Van Lines as their local representative. I interviewed several movers and they seemed the most responsive. I had moved from Texas to California three years prior to that so I had a pretty good understanding of how the moving process should work-- and also pretty high expectations since that move went perfectly-- with that previous move, the packers were pleasant and thorough, the driver and the moving coordinator kept in touch with me constantly and none of my belongings were damaged. Unfortunately, this was not the case this time. The packers seemed annoyed by how much stuff there was to pack and ended up totally missing a couple boxes of my grandsons toys in a bedroom closet; in addition they did not pack my mothers good china, which was in kind of a corner kitchen cabinet. (Granted, YES I should have noticed these things too-- but we all know how stressful moving across the country can be). There were only two people on the loading crew the next day (a father and college aged son) and they were annoyed with the packers from the previous day since they didnt pack the TVs. The driver was a great guy, but I never heard anything from him from the time he left my house on Thursday evening until the next Saturday morning when he called me at 10 am saying that he was about 40 minutes out from my house (the moving coordinator had at least communicated to me delivery was expected for that day). I should note that the moving coordinator, Lucinda, clearly notes on her email that she is available from 7:30 to 3:30 M-F; if you have problems outside of that, its obviously not her problem. On Friday, when she confirmed that delivery was expected, she said let me know how it goes. (Who would I have called if there WAS a problem?). In addition, my sales rep, Chris Kohlman, unbeknownst to me, actually went out on sick leave at about that time as well without giving me any contact information of who to consult with on any problems. During the moving/packing process, one of the legs on a chair that had been in my family for 70 years was broken (the driver took responsibility for this) and the leg to an iron bookcase (also a family item) was lost (no one admitted to this happening, they just kind of leaned it against the wall). The only reason Im giving 2 stars for review is that the local unloading crew (not affiliated with Nor-Cal in any way, engaged by the driver) were amazing-- very competent and professional and goodnatured.I ended up having to spend $500 to ship my mothers china and the toys from California to Texas (thank goodness my house didnt sell quickly and my real estate agent was able to recover it since it took me several weeks to realized that I didnt have it) In addition, while my move did not occur until January 3 and delivery did not occur until January 12, they charged my credit card on December 28 and when I requested an invoice after delivery to submit for reimbursement, I was informed that it would take 2-4 weeks to produce this (it was finally provided on January 28, with no detail regarding final weight of the shipment) As a result, of course, Im ending up paying interest on this amount. When I presented these concerns to the moving coordinator and attempted to contact the sales representative, I was simply informed by the moving coordinator that this was company policy and the sales rep was not available to discuss-- I was not given any other avenue of discussing this and Nor-Cals website doesnt seem to give any other contact information regarding company management. While Im sure this all could have gone worse (I know Ive heard much worse stories), my previous experience shows that it doesnt have to be and if anyone ever wants a GREAT moving experience from Texas to anywhere, contact Ward North American here in Dallas.I would definitely not recommend Nor-Cal as a moving company due to their lack of courtesy, thoroughness and responsiveness.

This last, and hopefully final, move from CA to TN was exceptional from the initial quote to wishing the truck driver, Bob, safe travels.The quote, compiled by Paul was detailed and accurate. From start to finish communication with NOR-CAL coordinators was maintained.The packing crew was fast, professional, polite,and efficient. We have an absurd amount of kitchen items and art work, everything arrived in pristine condition.Bob, the absolute best truck driver ever, arrived with his clean, shiny, well-maintained, moving truck followed by his loading crew. Again, the attention to detail was faultless. Every item, from House Of Denmark expensive to Lowes press board cheap, was padded and wrapped. My husbands Harley Davidson, the other woman in his life, received special attention! Everything was loaded and kept dry from the rain as if these men invented Tetras... nothing was gonna shake loose no matter the road conditions.In transit, Bob stayed in touch with us keeping us informed of his location and arrival time.Offloading was the hardest on us (I think because I opted to do the unpacking myself) too many boxes and seemingly not enough house! I had to start unboxing the kitchen to make room for more boxes. TIP: if you choose to un-box yourself, flatten all the packing paper then roll it into large bundles to stuff into empty dish pack boxes. Bob and crew remained patient with our lack of space and made sure everything was in its proper place before leaving.Both homes were protected by floor runners at all times and the added protection of door and handrail pads during loading and unloading.We couldnt be more pleased with the entire experience... Unless someone would show up and organize my kitchen!Thank you NOR-CAL Moving Services!

The loading crew was solid, but the two guys who helped unload were incredible. They worked like draft horses despite being about 150 pounds each. We couldn’t recommend anyone more than NorCal. Ask for Mike for your driver. He’s excellent.

Comment: The move itself was brilliantly handled by the moving team (lead by the loveliest man, Fernando). They arrived promptly and worked amazingly hard to get us out of our fourth-floor apartment (no elevator). I dont know how they got the piano out! Our stuff arrived at the other apartment on time and completely in tact. Every single item was logged at one end and accounted for at the other; I cannot fault the execution at all.The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is that I found the administration process frustrating in the extreme. No information was provided on the website, only in booklets and photocopied, hand-written notes. All the various forms (all if which were old-fashioned) had to be printed, signed, scanned, and emailed back. When youre packing up and dont have access to your printer/scanner, this is a giant pain. It was a particular problem when I was asked to resolve a payment issue at the very last minute or risk the entire move being cancelled, which involved running out to FedEx Office yet again in a mad panic. In the age of the internet, when even notary public services are online, I shouldnt have had to deal with any paperwork and should have been able to resolve the issue via the website. I hope that by the time I need its services again, the company will have addressed this!

Comment: Herewith I would like to give some feedback about the handling of my recent move from Novato, California to Bangkok, Thailand.The experience of interacting with the packing and unpacking staff was very positive. The crew in California was friendly and very accommodating with regard to logistical issues relevant to having 4 dogs and 2 cats in the house while the work was being done. The team here in Bangkok was equally helpful in that sense and eager to put things right.Unfortunately, however, the quality of the packing left a lot to be desired. I have moved many, many times over the globe – give me Asian packers any day – the packing is done really well albeit that items do disappear without serious supervision. I’ve never used Allied prior to this move and, based on a friend’s recommendation, thought I would – YES, this friend’s move was from Asia to the US – hence Asian packers!Worth mentioning with regard to the move in question:1. Many wine glasses were broken which can be replaced but indicates clearly to me that not enough care was taken packing these fragile items.1. Packaging was often damaged and open when brought out to be checked off of the list, especially those with linens and other soft goods were torn and arrived open – certainly not due to custom inspections because I paid a fee not to have that happen.2. Astonishingly, none of the carpets, boxes with clothing, linens or other soft goods had any sort of de-moisturizing packets in them causing a musty smell resulting in a huge amount of unnecessary airing and refreshing of carpets, laundry and dry-cleaning to be done.3. Several of my Adirondack chairs and loungers were packed without disassembly but some were taken apart, which, when this task became obviously to complicated, resulted in screws being simply sawed through. The crew here had the task to remove the old ones and replace these – how bizarre!4. Get this though – one of my dining chairs was wrapped and then stuffed in the upper, removable portion of a 2-part valuable antique Chinese cabinet causing one of the legs to puncture through the side of it.... What a way to treat an expensive dining chair and a valuable piece of antique furniture.5. To top it off, a large oil painting (125 x 125 cm) with lots of texture created by the paint was, prior to being crated, covered with paper, causing the heat from going across the Pacific and being in the Bangkok port prior to delivery to soften the paint and stick this paper to the paint over the entire piece. Never has this happened in the past and the unpacking staff were equally astounded.Obviously there was a serious lack of supervision during the packing and the experienced packers I was promised were not used throughout the entire process – other, corporate, jobs were more important and my little old private move, albeit still requiring a 40ft container, was squeezed in – this was also evident by how the job was originally scheduled and ended up being done in terms of manpower – different crew each day.Being on my own, it was impossible to check every packer – luckily I did discover quite a few items overlooked in cabinets and drawers…Yelp will certain get word as I’ve been advised to do and YES I should have used that tool to begin with – nonetheless no more Allied moves for me for sure – thank you very much!
