Loved this shop! Excellent collection of outdoor gear and clothing lines.
Only stopped here for the food truck and it was a great decision; food was great and the girls running it were good even with the grill acting up they handled it.

Great place. I am from out of town and I didnt pack any sandals so I looked around town. All I was finding are cheap sandals for like $1. I asked around and was recommended Northbound Outfirters. They had sandals and much more. After browsing for a bit to see all that they offer, I was able to find great sandals at a great price.
Top Notch Staff and Ownership. Every time I go in there I am impressed at how welcoming the staff is. We recently bought a few needed items for our cottage and was blown away at the length the staff went to make sure I was taken care of.. Honestly Id give more stars if I could. The food truck was amazing! Cheap, fast, and excellent food! I went in while they were making my meal, bought a hat, and the girl at the counter even cut off the tags for me so I could wear it then!
These folks are fantastic. I found then randomly via a google search, looking for a good price for some XC boots. When they didnt have the ones I wanted, I got super-personal service and they suggested another model and brand and said they were better anyway. I was skeptical, but they seemed honest and earnest. And damn if they werent the best pair of boots Ive ever had. Thanks a million - youre a great business.

My wife and I were on the hunt for her first pair of classic Nordic skis. We were greeted immediately by Heather with a great smile and a friendly demeanor. She asked the right questions and in a few fun minutes we were set. The store has a lot of cool stuff to look at, so a few laps around the shop are a necessity to see all they offer. I bought a new pair of boots for my son as well...long story short we returned to the shop again that afternoon and enrolled Willy in the kids ski equipment program that included awesome equipment at a perfect price. Thanks for the hospitality and excellent service. My new favorite store for sure.Matt H.

Bought a bike down state and had a problem on my first ride I couldnt sort out. they were very knowledgeable and helpful. It is a very well stocked bike shop and Ill be going back.
Bought skis for 2 kids. The owner Bob and a woman named MaKayla were super helpful figuring out sizes. It was obvious they care about their customers having a good experience with their equipment and at their store. I would highly recommend them.
This is a review of the food truck actually. Northbound outfitters itself requires a place to itself. Great product, great people!So, the food truck should definitely be on your go to list. BBQ wings, ribs, chicken, great tacos, quesadillas and more. I recommend the garlic parmesan fries! Employees are friendly and fast. Tip them well. Havent had a thing I didnt like yet.

You need to buy your skis and ski apparel from Northbound Outfitters / Cross Country Ski Shop. Seriously. Right now.Im a first time cross-country ski buyer, so I come with all the nerves, absolute cluelessness, and Im going to get ripped off paranoia. I also live in Utah, so I was x2 on all the emotions above.Northbound Outfitters / Cross Country Ski Shop ABSOLUTELY blew me away. There is literally no reason you shouldnt go with them if you are local or buying cross-country (no pun intended). They price match, so forget your worries there. They have the best customer service of any shop Ive seen. Id called them at least 10 times since purchasing the skis with random questions and they answer them all. My boot was a little big, so they immediately sent me a new boot (they covered the shipping). At the time of purchase, they customized everything to my individual specs.People! Use this ski shop. You will not regret it. I give them my full recommendation. And no, Im not related to the owner. 100% random customer.
I went there today to price check some repairs on a sentimental bicycle from my past which Im sure has little to no value in any other means.The staff greeted me warmly, and with a smile. They took the time to listen to my inquire, and responded kindly; even taking time away from a task to attend to my issue.The prices were very fair, and the service was accomplished with speed and to my complete satisfaction. I truly could not be happier with my experience.

This is a terrific store. The staff is friendly, fun and knowledgeable. If they dont have what you need they will try to get it for you. Weve gotten cross country skis and a fabulous bike here and have been really happy with everything. Cant say enough good things about this place!
There are many choices of bike and the employees are very knowledgeable. I learned a lot of stuff from this store and the information given helped me make my choice in cycle. They also offer trekking supplies for the summer and winter months. The store seemed to have a lot of cool stuff. Definitely worth checking out.
This is my favorite outdoors store!!! The selection for clothing, skis, bikes and water sports is outstanding. Everyone at the shop is so friendly and very knowledgeable about the products. I especially love the womens casual every day wear. I receive lots of compliments every time I wear a piece from Northbound Outfitters. I live down state, and used to shop there until I found Northbound, the prices beat them all! We just got a new paddle board this year and cross country skis for the winter and are more than happy with both purchases.
My family bought a tandem kayak from here, and we have made many trips back already this summer for quality outdoor clothing, adventure accessories, and food truck food 🤤 Very friendly and accommodating staff as well.
I wanted to buy a gift and it was important to me to keep my dollars local. I saw an ad for Northbound Outfitters in the Families Monthly magazine and called to see if they carried it. I was VERY impressed with the customer service I received over the phone! I described the item; just to be sure it was right, Gabe texted me a picture. So helpful! When I stopped by to pick it up I was blown away with the quantity and quality of merchandise they have in the store. I will certainly choose to take my business there again!!

I went into this store this morning July 3, 2020. I noticed the employee at the door did not have a mask on and asked her about it. She said employees are not wearing masks so enter at your own risk. I said I thought there is a state mandate, she was not impressed. I looked it up and that mandate has been in effect since June 18. So enter at your own risk and the risk of all the rest of us.
Stop in there every time we go camping on Grayling. We Kayak and Mountain bike so I always find something in there I want or didnt know that I needed. I think its great that they price match items. I picked up a couple or three or four items and found them online and they price matched them, pretty neat. Also I want to give a shout out to the bike mechanic who hooked me up, thanks!
If you havent been there you gotta go!! Just got our mountain bikes tuned, bought some awesome gear! Plus knocked out have our Christmas shopping!! Great Gear and Great Service! Oh and check out their food truck, super destination, you wont be disappointed!
Never ever buy things in this store. We bought cross country skis and boots because the seller told us to try and we can return it if cross country will not work for us.Upon trying once my partner fractured his collar bone and ended up on an emergency.We wanted to return brand new use for 15 minutes cross country skis that cost almost $700.00, but they did not keep their words.They wanted that we exchange for something else!!!Never buy anything there!!!
My wife and I have had a good experience everytime we go here. We purchased bikes from here and had great customer service. The selection is good for what they offer. Everyone who works here is really friendly and the prices are good. This is our favorite store in Grayling.
This place is unexpected. It carries quite a good selection of x-country ski stuff, bike gear apparel and kayaks. Not a lot of camping stuff which we were hoping to find. The bbq and taco stand is pretty dang good. Tacos are pretty legit.
Northbound always has the greatest stuff! The staff is super helpful and they are always getting new product in. I purchased my first big girl bike from here and they helped me get exactly what I needed. Check it out for all your outdoor activity!
Outstanding - always helpful finding a top to go with bottoms or a skirt, and vice versa. Or, seeing if a size is available to order if not in stock. Also, their free bicycle tire air on the fly, anytime saved my behind in the middle of a ride last year - I wouldnt have made it home otherwise. Keep an eye out for the sale racks!
I was in Northbound a few months ago with my daughter. She needed a new pair of running shoes. I was so impressed with the quality of the shoes that I ended up buying a pair for myself. The service was great and everyone was very friendly and knowlegable about their products. They took all the time we needed to make sure we had the right pair of shoes for our needs. I would recomend this store to anyone!

I have never been disappointed with anything I have ever purchased at Northbound. The staff always goes above and beyond. They are kind and helpful. Grayling is a small town and sometimes it is hard to find what you need and shop local. The quality of merchandise and the amazing staff make it easy to They were a little to big. Northbound could not get the size I needed (the manufacturer limits the amount they can receive.) This hey could be purchased directly through the manufacturer. Northbound refunded (what had been purchased as a gift) and encouraged me to order them directly. This meant that they did not receive any amount from the sale. That is just one example of how they go above and beyond to make their customers happy,
HUGE variety of outdoor supplies. They did not have what we were looking for out on the floor (well they did, but not in the color we were looking for) but they went in the back and found one that we did want. They have awesome prices and great customer service. We will definitely be back.
Disappointed with the lack of concern for general safety during a global pandemic. Staff and customers not wearing masks. We put two items back and decided to purchase them elsewhere. We usually like to stop here on our way through town, but well think twice next time.

Northbound Outfitters is a friendly store with a decent selection of items such as clothing, shoes, bikes, canoes, kayaks and more.We have been here several times to have my mountain bike repaired after I have abused it on the trails and the labor charges are very reasonable.We just bought a pair of new bikes yesterday from them and look forward to riding them for the remainder of the season.
Great little store on the way to Traverse City. I stop by just about every time I go north. They always seem to have something i need (want).Also parked right outside the store is a fantastic Tacotruck, Fish Tacos are fantastic.A must stop. Your welcome.

While on the Dalmac bicycle tour from Lansing I needed a wheel repaired. While they didnt have the spokes Bob had a pre-loved wheel & sold it to me for an awesome price. Awesome customer service & willing to go above & beyond to help. Thanks guys!!! You ROCK!!
I love this place!!! I make sure to stop in when I am up north in the Grayling area. The staff are helpful, fun and enthusiastic! I am a cyclyst and have purchased 2 bikes from their shop. Both expeiences have been awesome! The bike repair shop is and are always very helpful especially for someone like me who doesnt know everything about her bike. They also have kayaks, cross country skis mens and womens apparel, running shoes, hiking boots and of course bicycles!!!! Check them out!

Went for the BBQ fries w/jalapenos......soooo good. Never have been in the Bike shop, but the food trailer is delicious. Little pricey and a bit of a wait, but worth it

I bought a giant bike and I love it. It’s the best bike I have ever purchased. I’m glad that I choose the bike that I did. It rides amazing couldn’t ask for anything better.
Came in for parts but received little to no help. Coupled with the no mask inconsiderate policy I won’t be going back and have let others know they should go elsewhere for their bike needs.
Every one says they are friendly they are not we felt pressured as soon as we walked in we just wanted to look around they followed us around the store and made us feel very unwelcome all the reviews on here are probably friends good thing some people have courage to give an honest review based on there actual experience and not just as a favor for a business owner people deserve to know the truth truth cant be hidden under piles of false reviews eventually the truth will get out there
The food truck has the best smoked chicken taco! With an extra side of coleslaw it makes for a great meal! The staff is very friendly.

I live in Northern Michigan, but I do not consider myself an outdoorsy kind of gal. The clothing and shoe selection at NBO is exceptional. I bought a killer pair of boots. The swimsuit collection is amazing as well. NBO is something you would find in a city, but right here in our neck of the woods and friendly staff.

2022-07-09Bought two Norco bikes while on vacation camping at Hartwick Pines SP. Weve been in many bike shops and Northbound is exceptionally well staffed with a good selection. Best service anywhere! Bob was so knowledgeable and helpful, the other staff was outstanding too. Highly recommend, well be back.

2022-07-10Such a great place! I was shocked at how much awesomeness was in there! We where on our way to Mackinaw Island and I forgot my biking shoes. They where busy but they helped us out right a way with new pedals & let ys borrow the tools to install! We will definitely be back!

2022-06-22I needed a part replaced on my bike so I went there going to replace the part myself, they asked me what my problem was I told them and the they said give me a hour Ill have it fixed. 30 mins later I was out the door with my bike all fixed up. Amazing service and highly recommended, the store also has just about everything you would need for many different outdoor activities.
