Came here to public skate with a large party. The skating was great, but the rink was pretty crowded. Even worse, a couple of friends werent able to skate because the rink ran out of certain common skate sizes. This was a huge disappointment. A couple of my friends were forced to wear size 12 skates which want ideal. Id come here again, but plan to bring your own skates.
Me along with about a dozen people who showed up to play drop in found out as we showed up that they canceled drop in within 45 min of start time. Me and several others who drove over 45 min to skate were told to just go home. This is very poor management, there was no notice til a lot of people were there. I would give them negative stars if I could.
I received an email saying one stranger was completing his enrollment. I had no idea who this person was. So I checked my account, a total stranger was under my family member list. And my $89 credits was paying toward to this strangers classes! So ridiculous!I sent email back and asked for removing this stranger from my account and paying my credit back, no response!Whoever process the enrollment in Novi Ice Arena, should have more common sense to verify the registers phone number and mailing address. I will keep calling them until the person gets removed and my credit got back.
We went to one of the noon time public skates (noon-1:50) $3 entry, $3 skate rental. The price of public skating varies depending on the session. Theres a second rink that looks like they rent ice time. I usually skaters with their coaches. Its fun to watch them practice.I dont know how their skating lessons or hockey is.
They advertised a 5 years or less experience adult hockey league so a group of guys and i made a team with these kind of players as we are newer to hockey. We are currently stuck in a league that is NOT at all what was advertised, significantly outmatched every week. Ive played in leagues similar to what was advertised here and evaluations were set in place to prevent high caliber teams from joining a D league. I emailed the commissioner of the league he has not responded to me. place lacks professionalism and falsely advertises the style of leagues. Clearly just out for the money with no regard for the customer. I will not ever play here again. If i could give them no stars i would.... ***UPDATE*** they emailed back and to quote the email This league was not advertised as a beginner league i attached a photo of the D league I signed up for. 5 years or less experience, mainly as an adult. Designed for skaters with limited hockey experience. Am i an idiot for assuming that they would follow those guidelines? you can be the judge. I wont be back.
After getting to sticks and pucks and getting on the ice, my friends and I were told that we were not allowed to participate because we didn’t have “bottom half’s”. We were as prepared as any other time with stick, gloves, helmet and skates. Being a collegiate athlete, I’ve never been asked to wear the bottom half of my gear. That rule should not be for experienced players.I won’t be coming back to sticks and pucks with this preposterous rule.
Adult leagues are decently grouped in terms of talent, Refs are an absolute joke. They just dont care about anything that goes on during the games, allowing players to get injured when easily preventable. Showed the ref I was cut on my face from a players stick and he said I didnt see you bleeding. Oh okay I just like to pour blood from my face. League needs better management and refs that arent completely oblivious. Sad.
Completely wasted my whole morning , I have been going here for sticks and pucks for about 2 months now . I am over 18 and was never required to wear full gear , just helmet and gloves . I guess the lady at the front desk decided today is full gear ? The list only had 6 highschool kids on the list . Its a 40 min drive for me , wasted gas and my time . They should keep up on there website and post full gear only if thats the case . ONYX IS WAY BETTER , better ice better people and environment, I will now take my money else where .
Nice rinks. It was fantastic to see the world class ice dance teams from around the world who train here. However, I came to skate, and since I was visiting from another country I didnt bring my own skates and neither did my kids. The rental stock was in desperate need of sharpening. We all tried multiple pairs and they were all un-skateable. They gave us a refund but it was really annoying to make the drive and try for ten minutes only to realise that it wasnt going to work. They told us the sharpener had been broken for several months!
Great arena good concessions but be fully aware its a D4 officiated rink... this means horrible officiating and Novi hockey association doesnt care as they get the benefits....the rink will do their best to distance themselves from officials.... but expect injuries duw to poor officials

2022-04-05Our 3 year old has been taking lessons here for 2 sessions now and she has improved dramatically in 6 weeks. She is no longer afraid of the ice. Coach Jaquelyn is so nice and I think she really encouraged our daughter in excelling.

2022-03-21I see this place has a lot of good reviews, and I dont mean to take away from that. I am sure that people who come here in the context of being on some kind of team are treated very well. But my experience interacting with this business as a pedestrian wasnt spectacular. I called once and they hung up on me before the phone even finished ringing. I couldnt believe it, so I called again and the same thing happened. This isnt the end of the world, but it seemed unprofessional.

2022-06-14Great rink! Two ice surfaces, good quality ice, friendly staff. Not as terribly cold as some other rinks out there

2020-10-19First time at this rink and its very nice. Takes a min or two to enter because of tracing info with covid, but not that bad unless there was a long line. The staff we talked with were very nice and explained restrictions with masks etc on the ice for the tournament. Hopefully next time we play all games here not kensington!

2022-01-23Took my 5 year old daughter to an open skate and she had fun. Lots of kids and the coaches/teachers helped her get up and stay up for a while. Overall she had a good time and thats what matters.

2018-11-27Love the Novi Ice Arena, great place for skating and drop in, always have had a good time at this place. Building is a bit secluded from the main roadway, so at first it’s a bit hard to find, but otherwise once there it’s a good facility, very well laid out and has a lot of activities being offered on a regular basis. They do a good job of maintaining the website as well, keeping people posted with what’s going on, which is great to see as this is not true of many other ice rinks in the area.
