The workers are very polite and attentive to the needs of the guests. You can order tea or a full meal of food at the counter and they will wheel over a cart to your table when everything is ready. The bubble tea is very authentic and there are many options to choose from. The kitchen is open so you can see everything they are doing, it is nice to be able to know how everything is prepared.
Ive been going here for a few years now, and I am obsessed with their renovations from earlier this year. So aesthetic and open. Right around the corner from Oakland, so its the perfect place to study. The owners (wife and husband) are both so sweet. Love coming here and love their boba!!
Would give 0 stars if possible. The lady who rang us up wearing a headband was extremely rude and told us to let the person waiting in line behind us to order and pay first because we had a question on the menu... Her entire attitude the whole transaction was just disgusting. Worst customer service Ive ever experienced at a restaurant and the food was trash. I am Taiwanese and the food portion was very small and flavor was not good. Highly recommend saving your money and going somewhere else!
Racist. Flavorless tea. They made my friend pay for food first (they’re Black) while everyone else didn’t pay until after. Also everyone else who was in line behind them was served first despite the fact that my friend only ordered dumplings, that they had to wait 45 minutes for without even being brought a drink. Everyone else was brought real chopsticks but my friend was brought disposable ones. They were the only Black person in the restaurant and it’s hard to not see this treatment as blatantly racist.
THIS PLACE IS THE BOOOOOMB. THE FOOD IS SO GOOD I WANT TO CRY. Okay but like seriously Please take my word for it and eat here this is like a tiny little place with fantastic food. it’s not that expensive and looks kind of like nothing from the outside which seems to be a requirement for good random tiny restaurants. but seriously this place is a gem, a gift, bury me in soup.
My experience here could not have been a better one. Going here with 3 other friends was such an amazing experience. Not one of us had been there before and Kathy, the lady that seemed to be in charge, took the time to show us everything in the menu. She walked us through what was traditional Vietnamese, what we as first timers would like best, and what dishes were most popular. Can’t emphasize how nice the customer service was and the food was absolutely AMAZING! We will definitely be headed back in the near future.
Food is great. However I don’t understand how it is that you can’t ask for the chilies sauce AFTER you have gotten your plate. It has to be when you order - ridiculous! I’ve had the owner personally serve me the hot chilies sauce AFTER I’ve gotten my plate before; he would just use a small disposable sauce container to give that to me instead of putting it directly on the plate!
We were just driving by when we saw the Oakland Tea House board, and decided to check it out. They close at 7PM and we were already late but host was so nice she let us order. We picked up our food and came home. While eating we noticed that, she forgot to pack chicken we ordered. My husband called her to just let her know that. The lady was saying sorry that she forgot. And offered to drop off the chicken on her way back home. She insisted that her husband will drop off.It was very nice gesture, not only her husband dropped off our ordered chicken but packed some Gao Bao. That was the kindest thing she did.The couple is very kind and nice. On top of that the food was amazing. This was first time we tried Taiwanese food. Loved their cold noodle with sesame paste. My kids always ask for Gao Bao. I was blown away by their hospitality. Give it a try, you wont be disappointed.
I ordered some teriyaki chicken with rice and to be frank it wasnt that great the place is decently clean and looks nice but the food quality was not meeting that 4.5 stars on google and I had to wait 45 minutes just to get my bubble tea! I dont think Ill be returning in the future
My rating is heavily skewed towards how good the food is at any given restaurant, that being said the food here is very good especially for the area, the boba (bubble tea) is also very good. That being said the service here was terrible, there were a limited number of tables and even though this place was not packed, it took a long time to order and receive our food, nor were we ever asked how the food tasted which is a disappointment because the food is good. Cleanliness is not good either as its clear your own dishes however the tables dont seem to be wiped down regularly.
Tried this place with a group for lunch on a Thursday. Tried to order a noodle dish but was told that it would take 20 minutes so I decided to switch to rice. Proceeded to wait 45 minutes for the meal to arrive anyway. I also watched multiple customers get served before anyone in my group did. After the meal arrived, it was very authentic and the pork was good but lacked flavor/seasoning. Also the portions were lacking considering the price charged. Overall, I would not recommend.
Amazingly friendly owners and staff who are always working hard and serving their best to put a smile on everyones face. Balanced bubble teas and even better meals you wont find anywhere else in the Auburn Hills/Rochester area.Ive never had to wait over 10 minutes for my food, however being a small mom-and-pa local business I would have no problem waiting to give my business to such humble people.Extra appreciation for a warm home-kitchen atmosphere that is so well naturally lit. Fantastic place to sit and study or do work!
Very good Bubble Tea! Most places will serve Bubble Tea and its basically just a sweetened milk drink. I watched the server prepare my tea, and she used real tea leaves, and I can taste the tea flavor prominently, along with some of the best strawberry flavoring Ive tried. I will be back, and next time Ill get food - based on the name I didnt realize this was a restaraunt so I didnt come hungry, but it all looks delicious
Love love love this place. The staff are so friendly and the food is to die for. It really reminds me of China. The atmosphere is really nice and the pricing for food and drinks is affordable. The bubble tea is one of the best I have had stateside. 10/10. No complaints
My daughter brought me and the service is friendly and patient as they explained what the different dishes were, and showed pictures, the food took a bit to get done because it was fresh, it was delicious. They have a very small menue but it us so good. I ordered the braised beef with noodles which turned out to be a strong broth with chunks od meat, vegetables and a thick like Raman noodle in a broth, I loved it so much a the portion size was extremely filling, they also have different flavered read and smoothies
This was my first time visiting. Small not for sitting in dinning although there arebabfew tables. They have bubble tea if you are in to that. They do not speak English very well but are nice. There vegetables veriy by the day. What I did order majority of the food was good. I will go back to try something else on the menu.
How do I describe disappointment? Well it starts off by saying Oakland Tea House is disappointment. The food has no flavor. From noodle, rice, and little snack dishes its just no flavor. And if it does have flavor it leaves a terrible after taste. It was so promising when they first opened up, but after a couple months of going to Oakland Tea House it just got worse. Go to Asian Edible for a cheaper meal with way more options.
I was recommended to this place to come and try their bubble tea, and wherever you are located it is definitely worth the drive as I am sure it is the best in the area. They also serve food but I was unable to try anything on the menu. We will definitely be back to try the food!
This place is a bit hidden in the back of the plaza but I just got some delicious food here and I love it. Got the pork gua bao, Shave ice red bean milk and the dumpling. Been wanting to try gua bao for awhile now and their doesnt disappoint. Will definitely be back for more.
The smell is good, the environment is clean and warm, and the toilet is clean. I hope the food can be served faster; it is not easy to recruit people now, which is understandable. The proprietress has a good attitude, likes to chat with customers, and works very quickly. The pearls in bubble tea can progress and are softer. The chili oil is good and fragrant.
Highly recommended !! Its our first time visit. The environment is bright and clean, and people here are friendly. We ordered spicy beef noodle and seafood & tofu hot pot. The beef is awesome !!! Although its quite far from our residence, but we will come again !!For the first time, the restaurant is very bright and clean, and the staff is very friendly. We ordered a few cups of rare milk / seafood pot / and super recommended beef noodles! The beef is tender and delicious, very satisfied! Will come again next time!

2022-06-21The food is just amazing. What’s better? After eating all of these, you don’t feel like a slug!!!The food tastes clean, as if it truly is nurturing the body. Everything is homemade and tasted extremely familiar to an Asian from Asia, there’s no doubt about that.Best part is the hospitality of the owners.Definitely recommend!

2022-03-31My first time at the Oakland Teahouse, and I have to say I knew right away that I am going to be a regular. The staff is super friendly and the food is great. I had Dan Dan Noodles and they were really incredible. Can’t wait to come back and try some more food and bubble tea.

2022-01-05I eat a lot of bao, and this place is so good, after eating here, I ordered one to go for later! I recomend the pork belly gua bao with the brown sugar roasted bun. The beef wontons in hot oil were also great, and not too spicy!

2021-07-29I went with a group of Taiwanese and Chinese friends and we all really enjoyed the food. Personally it was my first time ever trying Taiwanese food, but being middle eastern myself and having tried many authentic ethnic foods its pretty easy to recognize this place is legitimate. Flavors were good, spice was nice, and dishes unique for people who havent grown up on them. Definitely worth coming here to eat!

2022-07-06First time going and we will definitely be back. The pork was smokey and tasted incredible. The mango smoothie was delicious, and the red bean was runner up, but both were super tasty. Im not sure if you can go wrong ordering anything there, honesty. I am looking forward to going back to try more dishes!

2022-06-25Oakland Tea House is an easy 5 star for me. Went for the first time recently after finding it on a list of top Asian restaurants in Metro Detroit. Have been back since then and had several different bao buns, dumplings, noodle soup, chili dumplings, and the shaved ice. Every item weve had has been freshly made and is fantastic. This place will be in our regular restaurant rotation. The kitchen is small so if they are busy it might take a little longer to get your food but it is definitely worth the few extra minutes.

2021-09-07Love this place! It’s easily missed being tucked away in the back of the plaza but very authentic and flavorful. The gua bao (pictured) is always part of my order. Whether you’re familiar with Taiwanese cuisine or just want to try something new, this place has a wide range of menu options that will keep you coming back for more.

2022-05-06I was trolling Google maps for restaurants in my area and ordered from this restaurant out of curiosity. So glad that I choose this place! The Salty Crispy Chicken with rice was soo tasty, not overly salty. The rice was flavorful with a nice firmness... I could easily eat it with my chopsticks without fear of dropping😁 ,the green beans were well done. And I enjoyed the sauce and the side of pork with bean sprouts. There was enough for two people, so I enjoyed it the next day too.For dessert, I had the Bean Curd (Douha). Dont know exactly what it is, and it was delicious! I love that it was not overly sweet, and those little bubbles popping in my mouth as I chewed them, made me smile.I was looking forward to having the bubble tea and ordered Mango Milk, it was very good, but alas, no bubbles.I will order from the Oakland Tea House again ... Maybe next week 😊😊A big THANK YOU to Anita, the delivery driver! I give you 5 stars!
