The room was clean and the view of the lake was beautiful! The staff was very friendly and the owner was extremely helpful and went beyond what should be expected of someone in his situation. I travel quite often and this was probably the best place I stayed at in 2018. I may make a trip back to Clarkston just to stay here again... and you’d never know how comfortable this place is when you’re driving by.
This inn was perfect. Stayed overnight with a friend for a wedding on 9/22/17. Room was very clean and comfortable and had a kitchenette with a stove, mini fridge, and microwave. The room opened up right onto the lake with a great view. There were paddleboats and a beach that would be awesome for families traveling with kids. Saw some folks having a great time fishing off the back patio as well. Inn was really close to a tin of great restaurants too.
15 gorgeous rooms all with lake access. This is an amazing, clean, friendly place with that amazing up north cabin feeling and smell. You truly forget youre still in clarkston.Paddle boats and access to the lake, which is not recommended for swimming, however there are tons of fish; you can see from the balcony off the larger rooms [you still get access to the balcony, paddle boats, ect even in the smaller rooms], great for fishing and they have an old school candy machine filled with FISH FOOD!! you can literally feed the little pig like fish.Their rooms are extensively cleaned and contain the cutest little touches. Some have little kitchenette areas as well. All the rooms are smoke-free, however they supply a little chair and ashtray outside every room, which is a nice thought by the owner and staff. The owner actually invests a lot [of money] into making sure his Home away from Home, for everyone is as clean and hygienic as possible. He hires a team who work with TRAINED BED BUG SNIFFING DOGS!!! Every few weeks they come in and confirm the continuation of bed bug free rooms, every single time. [Im saying 100% of the time the dogs come and sniff, they find absolutely nothing.] That is amazing and you gotta give props and a shout out to the amazing housekeeping team, the managers and owners for doing everything they can to do keep you and your family safe and protected from terrible things, that other inns around the area do not do. Every month they also do a preventative spray for any type of insectThe owner just so happens to be a former Professional Baseball Player, I wont ruin the surprise of whom it could be, inside their welcome booklet is a whole page dedicated to who he is, what school he went to and drafted out of, his first team and a few other nifty details about who he is as a person and what he stands for.After meeting him once, I can tell you he is a giant, compassionate, caring, down to earth, wholesome, funny man who loves what he does and is pretty great at it as well.
Great hotel located at a fantastic place. The rooms are clean and comfortable with very lean bathrooms. One of the staff was very rude. However was pleased by stay and would highly recommend. Five stars, all around!
Quiet, clean, and comfortable. Everyone I spoke with and met here were just super nice. Due to a family member being hospitalized I had to stay several days, Tim was so kind and his consideration and kindness were remarkable. Will always try and stay here when back in area.
My wife and had a wonderful experience here. It is like going up north to a cabin but only a coupe miles away. as soon as you walk through the door you feel like you just stepped in a cabin and when you walk out onto that porch. You forget where you are and are watch a family of swans stroll across the lake. The price is very reasonable and we look forward to coming back often.
Ask for a room by the lake. And you won’t be by the main road. In case you try to sleep during day light hours. Other than that. This place is so incredibly cheap. I’ve paid twice as much for other hotels that are really nasty and noisy. My room cost 74$ and it’s definitely worth more than that. Even if they charged 120$ I would’ve been very happy with that price even. They’re that good
Me and my wife stayed at the Old Mill Inn for the first time this weekend and were pleastly suprised at good the experience was. First off You can tell that Tim the owner actually cares about his customers. He was super nice guy, he had coffee and donuts in the morning and just an overall a professional solid dude. The rest of the staff were super helpful as well. We stayed lake side and even though it is winter the view was still great. Summer would be even better. The rooms were clean and the prices were super fair. We went out on the town and went to wood shop/hancho/and the union. Will definitely bring staying again in the future. Also last thing the bass are actually comfortable!!! Thanks again to Tim and his staff.
Very clean, rustic, classic motel right on Dixie Highway. If you can, get one of the lakeside rooms. They are a little bigger and there is a deck right of the room with a beautiful view of the lake. Everyone can use the deck area, but the lakeside ones are RIGHT THERE. The staff is super friendly.
Stayed for one night. The moment I checked in is the moment I realized Id be Back! Amazing staff! Amazing hotel! Very cute! We were relaxing on the back deck area and the manager, I believe, walked back to make sure we were all doing well! Ill be back for sure! Priced Right! Rooms are adorable!
The rooms are extremely clean and the property seems well maintained. The owner Tim and all of his staff are very friendly and professional. A great place to stay if you are going to be in town for a concert in the area. Prices are reasonable.
We had a wonderful stay, the place was very clean, the price is perfect, loved the waterfront view of the lake, and being able to sit outside and enjoythe weather, it is definitely quieter then a big hotel chain, we stayed one night , it was super close to DTE Energy we seen a concert that evening. walking distance to a nice restaurant , there is a coffee shop next door , my only disappointment is not having a little coffee maker in the room we had a room with a little kitchen and having a little coffee pot would have been really nice. other then that we will be back next time we addend an event at DTE

Absolutely love it! its super simple, affordable and clean. nothings over the top but they have made sure to do little things to make sure you have what you need but not make it fancy! If you are into rustic and more down to earth you will embrace it! it has a mini stove, sink and fridge....microwave too! if you are looking to save a lot of money and have a decent place to stay in the area this is the place! I am a single woman and felt super safe! sometimeds motels can give you the feeling there are transients but the staff and the owners must make a strong conscious effort to be sure make sure their long term guests are decent! I am here because my daughter was attending a concert at DTE (old pine knob)...i want to plan another trip just so i can have the experience of staying her again! The awesome this is that there are some units with a lake side view with a long porch! if you dont get one of the units on the porch you can still enjoy it! Itshared space and has great little spots to sit an relax. I read a book, did crosswords, day dreamed! The lake is peaceful with a gorgeuous sunset! When youre sitting by the water you forget that you are actually surrounded by streets and plazas. Its like a little escape!!
I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times and wanted to reserve a room for some family coming into town because I have had decent experiences staying here and they were booked so for 3 days I have been calling and asking about cancelations...and finally the 3rd day there was a cancelation (1 day before my guests arrive) and Im ready to make the reservation so I told the man that Id be in Friday to pay if our guests were running late & Im told no check ins after 10pm and that hed hold the room for 1 hour while I call my guests to see if theyd be there by 10pm because they wont allow me to come in & pay & pick a key up for anyone (said theyd had problems with that in the past) well you know its11:30 am & my guests both have day jobs so they cant just answer their phones for unnecessary calls... If Im reserving a room with my card then Im also the one technically responsible for the room and my guests so rather than continue to waste my time I called a hotel in Auburn Hills & got a my guests a room. Very frustrated at the moment, Ive tried for 3 days to get a room. I dont think thats a very reasonable policy but they are free not to take my money if they so choose... It would have been nice to know this policy before hand so that I didnt waste my time for 3 days waiting to see if they have any cancelations. This is a decent hotel, dont get me wrong but this whole ordeal was a total waste of my time and I wont be staying or referring anyone in the future.
This is the nicest place Ive stayed in the rooms clean prices great ombyanc outstanding. The owner and help were wonderful always happy and happy to help you with whatever you need...Im going back soon.

I would have thought the person answering the phone would have been a little more considerate. We were looking for a room for 3 people. This place is definitely not the place for more than 2 people. They have very limited rooms that have more than one bed.
NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY!!! Only two persons are allowed to be inside at any time, so if you got family traveling together, BEST PLAN ON MULTIPLE ROOMS. And if they allow you a discount count on the night manager throwing that fact in your face.
I brought my wife and kids here for a staycation. I must say that I was not 100% satisfied. Although the owner Tim did everything that he could to accommodate my family and for that Ill give him five stars.

Olde Mill Inn os amazing. The rooms are small, but very nice and clean. The beds werent great, but it was a nice room tp lay my head for the night. Also, the staff there are the best! Lastly, they are close to many restaurants, bars, as well as DTE!

2022-07-07The staff was very friendly and helpful if we needed anything. We decided to stay an extra night and the rooms were very well kept and clean. It was so relaxing and peaceful. Absolutely loved having the lake right outside our door.

2021-11-06Excellent Service. 6 ⭐ rooms and 10 ⭐ Manager. 10⭐ housekeeping and 10⭐ views from the lake. Fully stocked Kitchen including a toaster and coffee pot and stove top. Refrigerator and mini freezer that freezes everything! Plates silverware cups pots and pans and flipper can opener everything you can think of. Fireplace. Huge TV with cable and Wi-Fi.Im so Grateful for the opportunity to stay here!

2021-05-28Had nice view but stayed for a week and had to leave my room 3 times for whatever reason the employees said. Allergic to dogs and cats, they have in and out of rooms. Very nosey employees. Owner yelled in my face when fiancé was at work because fiance became sick (tested positive for covid 19) after having to leave room 3 times while people came in without masks, he was ill when we had to step outside room for the 2nd time so was not feeling good they took to long so was irritating, so old man owner yelled in my face the next day when fiancé was not there because he didnt like my fiancé voice tone while sitting outside in cold while sick for the second time. WILL NOT BE GOING BACK

2021-02-01Owner and staff went above and beyond. A perfect home away from home. Close to everything Clarkston and Waterford has to offer. Waterfront rooms have a beautiful view. Rooms are very clean and located in a safe location. Attention to detail in the decorating and amenities.

2019-07-16Very very clean. Rustic and dated but very clean. Inexpensive. Beds are comfortable. The owner actually brings in dogs capable of sniffing bed bugs once a month. I witnessed them going room to room. Theses are great people. You can get a room with a lake side entrance . Yes the Inn sits on a lake and has a covered patio accessible from your room. Love this place
