Been here a couple of times now. This place is small but in a good way. The food is great and the staff is friendly. They have a great selection of desserts as well but I keep getting full on the main dish! Portions that Ive ordered are generous and they have a few beers on tap. Most with an Irish theme but Ive seen at least one craft beer on rotation when Ive been. Great stop that is definitely worth a try.
We booked these guys to cater our outdoor party. They were on time, set us up right, and the food... our guests loved the BBQ.This place makes its own rubs, and 6 different bbq sauces, which were awesome. This husband and wife duo are genuinely nice people, too. They have a good thing going on here and we were pleased with the service and the food overall. There was plenty to go around and enough to send people home with a late night snack!I wish I would have thought to grab a picture of how the food was set up initially, but I didnt think to do that. The pictures below are just the two random shots (cropped down) I accidentally captured while taking pictures of something else.Thank you Omalleys Galley for the awesome food and great customer service.
Very expensive, tiny portions, and the food isn’t all that great. Even though they claim to be “homemade”, my homemade food tastes way better at the fraction of the cost. We’ve tried eating here multiple times and we have been disappointed every time. The only reason this place has good ratings is because locals do not have taste buds apparently. This is confirmed because every other local joint has good reviews too, and they are also not good. “Locals supporting locals” bull. Also, I think it’s absolutely ridiculous that you let your curbside customers block Michigan BBQ Supply next door with their vehicles. Most of the time I can’t even tell that they’re open because they are barricaded with a line of vehicles waiting on food. Terrible business decision on your end. Even if Michigan BBQ is closed at the time the vehicles are lining up, you’re taking away their business by people driving by and seeing their sign. Do better.
No good. This was my second outing and I am highly unimpressed with OMalleys. Ive seen them slammed at pickup and I cant understand why to be honest. My first time I got a $15 reuben that had next to 0 meat on it. It was literally almost all Cole slaw. This second time I got the $22 scallops and shrimp. My bill should have been $23.32 with tax. $25 was my total because of a carryout fee, really? The serving size once again wasnt worth anywhere near the $22 asked and the side salad was a huge disappointment as well (which how do you screw up a side salad so bad?). I give 2 stars because the main dish was delicious, but really this place doesnt come anywhere near the value, portion size, and/or quality of other places in the area. This was me giving them a second chance from feeling ripped off the first time and and I can unfortunately say that that just seems to be the business model. Wont be returning and do not recommend if you value your $$$.
I saw a sign out near the road advertising “fish & chips”. I love fish and chips but I have given up getting anything other than prepackaged frozen fish blocks and undercooked fries every time I order it these days. If they cared enough to put out a sign, maybe this time it might be different. It was! The fish was just right and the fries were fresh cut. The tarter sauce was homemade and tasty.I had the pleasure of speaking to the owner to complement her on the quality of the food. She let me know they make everything in their kitchen. Even the bacon is smoked on site.I also have a passion for New England Clam Chowder. I have ordered NECC in 100’s of restaurants. This was the best I have had the pleasure to enjoy. Not muddy, not watery, actually has clams in it and hand cut potatoes. Perfect. So, after passing two of my most critical tests I pulled out the final test in my search for my favorite restaurant, Banana Cream Pie. I told her if they had that, my searching days were over. She not only told me the had BCP, but her mom does all the deserts and they are made fresh every day! I think my heart skipped a beat. She brought me a slice and it too was excellent.I am hooked for good and have yet to get anything on the menu (working my way through it) that wasn’t delicious and obviously made in their kitchen. Now for the only downside. They have limited hours so be sure to make sure they are open before you go. Secondly, if fancy decorations and plush surroundings are your thing, this is not for you. This is where you go when your priority is great food. It’s not particularly cheap either but with food quality this high the price is very reasonable. They have a full bar if you want to enjoy an adult beverage with your meal.If you know the difference between packaged frozen commercially prepared food and the real stuff, you won’t be disappointed.
Amazing handmade, never frozen, food at affordable prices. If you want a fine dining experience without the hefty price tag then, congratulations, youve found your new favorite place. The food is cooked and seasoned to perfection, wait staff is polite and quick to take care of us, and the menu has something for everyone. This place doesnt have the pretentious trappings of most fine dining restaurants, but what it does have is the food and waitstaff of a Michelin Star restaurant and the prices of a normal bar and grille. We absolutely will be back and I highly recommend this place to anyone who likes well-made food crafted by a true chef.
I had the fish and fries, along with the soup and salad bar. The mushroom soup was amazing! The fish was very light and fluffy, not overly breaded. Our waitress was wonderful. The manager even came out to check on us. Extremely quaint place to go for a nice hometown feeling, and great meal.
I would give OMalley a 10 if possible. Cory our server was just as friendly as can be. Smithwick Irish Red Ale was on tap and the food was amazing.New England Clam Chowder was the best my wife and I ever had. We got fried pickles to start. So good.. I had beef brisket with fried shrimp and Mac and cheese. So wonderful. My wife had pulled pork and fried cod. Also amazing. We shared everything.Too bad I live an hour away but I will be back.
Great experience all around. My wife and I were in a nearby town for business. We saw the positive reviews, and looked at the menu on their website. Looked like it was worth the 30 minute drive. I had the corned beef and cabbage, which is always my first choice if I can find it. It was amazing. My wife had the black and blue burger and she said it was great. We met Mr O’Malley, who made us feel welcome and spent some time chatting with us. One last thing. GET THE SOUP AND SALAD BAR. It’s great.
Hole in the wall place! I loved their homemade salad dressing and gravy. I got the brisket, it was shredded, but not super fatty. Really good. My husband had the steak frites and it was one of the few times a restaurant has actually cooked his steak rare! The service was fast and friendly, and the drinks were good too. They were a LITTLE bit pricey, but Ill pay for homemade. Any day.
The food here is always good. If youre a soup lover, this is where you need to be. The corned beef and cabbage is always a go-to of mine. Are the dishes a bit pricey compared to nearby restaurants? Yes... But everything is made fresh. From preparing and pickling the meat to creating soup stock from scratch- Id pay for quality food versus processed food any day. The owner is always friendly and in a great mood & the staff is always helpful. This is the type of place to go when you dont feel like cooking at home, but want home cooked food.I wish that I could give a thumbs up response to the owners answer about an $8 sandwich below. The sandwich quality justifies the price.
This place is easy to overlook if you arent looking for it, but I would definitely recommend checking it out. Its primarily a seafood restaurant, but they also have really excellent pulled pork, brisket, and wings. Honestly, have yet to be disappointed by anything Ive eaten there. They also usually have a good selection of several homemade soups.
Truely terrific little restaurant, run by a wonderful family that creates incredible dishes from scratch. The fish & chips, as well as any of the bbq are excellent choices. The soup and salad bar is a great addition for the cost. Give it a try, you wont be disappointed.
A little hidden gem. Do not let the size or curb appeal deceive you. The service and food is always exceptional. Every visit to this place has been wonderful. Owner maintains an extremely high degree of pride in his establishment and it shows. Pricing is a bit higher ($12-$20 avg. per plate). But for the quality of food, its a steal. If this place was located in Royal Oak or Birmingham, youd be paying double.Big fan of this place. Try the calamari!!
If you like smoke meats this is the place family owned and ran. Staff is friendly. Love the smoked pulled porkand smoked mac and cheese. Just had carryout deep fried cod yesterday and it was so good I got it again today! They have the best soup ..the New England clam chowder is awesome.
Ive been going to OMalleys for years now. Never been disappointed. The staff is amazing! Always friendly, kind and ready to help. Im a personal favorite of the soup and salad bar, that new England clam chowder is to die for. The atmosphere is perfect for a nice evening out with family or with friends when you just want to relax and not have to shout over 30 other people. Food can be pricey but Im willing to pay that when the service is that good. 10/10 will continue to go again.
The food was good. I ordered Fish and Chips. My wife ordered Grilled Shrimp. When the food was given to us my plate was full. My wifes $11.00 plate though had only four pieces of shrimp and a plain baked potato. The food was good, but make sure you know what your paying for. The service for us was good too.
I know a lot of people will disagree with me but I believe it’s the best barbecue joint around. There are a lot of big barbecue places in the area with very long wait times, but for quality of the product and flavor in my opinion O’Malley’s is the best. Hand made/homemade everything, pies are to die for!! Phenomenal homemade soups and salad bar. Great service. Yes you will not get the largest quantity of food but the quality is by far the best
The food is incredibly delicious and they have great deals for families, but whichever girl gave me my food for curbside pick up just said here and threw the food on my seat and muttered what I think was have a good day. No greeting or warning as she approached my car, the window was down, but I was sitting on my phone patiently waiting.
There food is amazing. Would recommend them highly for catering. A few years ago a friend payed another catering Company Decatur her daughters open house well they closed down and never notified them but OMalleys galley came to the rescue at the last minute the food was amazing recommend macaroni and cheese and the brisket and the barbecue youll never be disappointed. If I could put 10 Stars Id put 20 thank you for saving the day
Although I have only been twice, everything I have tried, and what those I went with picked has been phenomenal. I am very picky about eating out, since I make everything at home from scratch normally, and my partner worked as a cook for years, so out standards are high. We can tell the extra lengths the cook goes to with his dishes, soups, mains, desserts, even the breads and croutons. Though some dishes take time to come out, in this case it is obviously because the dish was literally just prepared. The calamari is fantastic, and have a lovely pairing, such as I usually only see at fancier restaurants. And I love calamari, so to have such obviously fresh seafood in a small town in Michigan is awesome!I got the ribeye once, and this is literally the only place I have ever truly enjoyed one. It was cooked properly, and I deeply appreciate the fact that it was not charred black all over like all other places do. Those red skins on the side were surprisingly delicious rather than just plain potatoes. This time I got the chefs special, the shrimp gnocchi. Amazing sauce, so well spiced. The shrimp were lovely quality, with a rich red color. We shared a slice of pie, and I suppose it was a mousse, so light in texture, while also being rich and flavorful. Always a favorite of mine. The plating of the dessert and main dishes ways also a bit fancier than expected from what looks to be a fish and chips place (which I imagine are also delicious). While it is somewhat pricey, maybe more so compared to the local options, it is more than worth it. The servings have been generous, and the quality really is top notch. I am veryuch looking forward to seeing what new specials might be created in the future. The servers are also very friendly and helpful.Truly this is the only place we eat out locally, and is easily on par with top restaurants in Ann Arbor or Traverse City. I am so relieved to have such a close place to get healthy, homemade food, for those days I havent the energy to cook; so relieved.
I love there food so much! The beef in the hamburger tasted F-R-E-S-H. The vegetables were recently picked and also very fresh. I haven’t had food this farm fresh in quite some time. The French fries were cooked to crispy perfection with a soft warm inside.A bit of advice: don’t sit at a table near the dessert display. I made that mistake and it cost me an extra ten bucks in delicious delectables!!!! But honestly, the peanut butter chocolate pie was TO DIE FOR.
I remember a day omallys used to be a good restaurant. My latest visit was an unpleasant experience. Ordered soup and salad bar. They had six selections of soup of which four of them are empty and they just simply ran out. Salad bar had a lot to be desired. Brown celery. They need to update their atmosphere. Probably won’t be back
Been coming here sporadically over the years. Dennis, the owner, is passionate about the food and it shows. The smoked food is particularly superb, the salad and soup bar is inexpensive yet of excellent quality, the desserts are made in house, and they are excellent as well.Very reasonable prices considering the quality, good catering as well.
I have been there a few times. The restaurant is small, dark, and usually packed. The food is acceptable, but not special. I enjoy their soups, which are usually home made, but the salad bar is very small. The portion size varies, so does the quality. I usually order the soup and salad combo. Overall, its mediocre.
Ashley and Heather made my first dinner out in a restaurant in years a wonderful experience! They were able to accommodate my food allergies, serve me a delicious meal and I did not get sick after! Prices are reasonable, atmosphere is pleasant and the service is fantastic! I will definitely be back 😊
Im very picky about the quality of my food.To the disappointment of some, this is real food at very reasonable real food prices. The food is home made from the bread to the salad dressing. The house smoked meats were lean, moist and tasty. Nothing was super salty like most restaurants, It was just great home cooking-that you didnt have to cook:)I wouldve paid more. Its a quiet little place in a tiny strip mall type place (like 3 businesses). Its a nice normal place no need to dress up, just bring the family.
The owner is loud and very rude!!! Will not be going back. We go there for awesome food and I get the salad bar only so I can trade a cup of soup that my wife likes because she doesnt like lobster bisque. I guess the waitresses that let us do it are going to be written up for that. I apologize to the waitresses it wasnt just one so dont punish them for a soup trade, I dont think it hurts your profits.
OMalleys Galley is AMAZING! From the food to the service, you wont go wrong using Omalleys Galley for all of your catering needs. Dennis and Michelle (Owners) are the absolute BEST! They traveled to cater our daughters wedding last minute and we received rave reviews from our guest. Everyone loved the pulled pork, bbq chicken, and smoked salmon appetizer. We are so incredibly grateful to Dennis and Michelle and their team for making our daughters wedding a huge success.
Been going here regularly for 3 years. Never a bad experience except when I found out that they had to get rid of the sweet potato fries because safe-spacers didnt appreciate the hand cut fries so therefore some of the smaller pieces were burnt. I still go sweet potato mash. I only go out to eat where the food is quality and this place is above and beyond. If I hit the lotto I am just gonna drop a million to this place for being what a restaurant should be. My favorites are the Texas burger, smoked Ruben sandwich, sauteed perch, shepherds pie!!! Soups are the best anywhere too!
Had the pleasure of eating at O’Malley’s and although the line was out the door, it was well worth the wait. The food was delicious! The salad bar, entree, cocktail, desserts, all flavorful, fresh, and a unique blends of tastes. Having travelled considerably, I would rank this restaurant as one of the best! I’ll be back!
Just moved to the area year ago and I have to say, they have delicious food. They have true Irish dishes and much more. Not a lot of delicious foods directly in my area and I am a foodie. This place is totally worth going in the staff is so laid-back it’s like going to your aunt Sue’s house.
We rang in 2019 with dinner at O’Malley’s Galley and it was awesome! I had fresh live Maine lobsters and my wife had surf and turf. The oyster appetizer was fresh and delicious, salad bar is the best in the area with 6 different soups. The finishing touch was the Creme Brûlée , to die for... try it and you will not be disappointed!!!!
Yesterday was the first time we went to this excellent restaurant. But It is no doubt not the last time. We enjoyed the evening a lot with the generous service, with the great meal and fine drinks and with the honest payment. We will no doubt visit there in a short time.
If there were a zero star option Id have given it that. The food is bad, the owners need to pay attention before its too late. Given the fact that the parking lot was jam packed when they first opened and now resembles the Andricos parking lot, wouldnt you start to question something? Food is priced high for what you get, not only quantity is lacking but the food is BAD. The cook needs a new recipe book, a new menu and someone with talent to cook it. I wanted to like it, I didnt! In this economy people deserve and will demand better for their hard earned dollars, if they dont get it, they wont come back which if youre paying attention you will notice, theyre not. I believe that the good reviews are written by employees or the owners because Ive talked with a lot of people who all had the same experience that we did. Believe it or not, I want them to succeed but to do that they better wake up soon.
Everything is home made. A frequent visitor and never disappointed. Started my meal today with best ever butternut squash soup then moved sauted perch with a side of sauted kale. Delicious! Pies are the best around. Shared a turtle ice cream cake to finish. OMalleys is a gem in Ortonville.
Great food and great relaxed atmosphere. We had the soup and salad bar. Everything was fresh, clam chower was delicious. Also tried Manhattan Clam Chowder, it was FANTASTIC! Bonus surprises- Oberon Beer on tap and homemade Tiramisu for dessert. YUM!!!! Thank you OMalleys!
I demand excellent service and food. Thats why I always (and I mean always) go to Omalleys. Lucky for me they are close. But I would travel a couple hours to eat here. I would eat out of their dumpster and it would be better than the scottish outhouse up the street from them.
Came to Omalleys solely based on ordering clams....tried to stop on Monday to order clams, they are closed on Mondays. Came back Tuesday, and they are out of clams. Tried to then order Walleye....out of walleye....I said who ever does the ordering should be wrote up. The owner does the ordering. Guess your screwed if you want to order what you actually want to eat.

2021-12-16My favorite restaurant. The Brisket is to die for. All of their sauces and desserts are homemade. They always have great service and great food. Once you try it you’ll keep coming back!

2022-03-06Surprisingly good food and service! Was skeptical based on how it appeared from the outside (small and unassuming). Cant complain about the food, but the place definitely could use some clean up and better maintenance.I highly recommend their combo platter and the smoked Mac n cheese.

2022-04-29Homemade food, including a great dessert menu. The owner can greet you by name after you have visited a couple of times. Like heading home for a good meal! Fish and chips, burger, poutine fries, corned beef and cabbage....it is all good!!

2022-06-22Service was great and reason it got up to three stars. Havent been since before Covid, totally remodeled, why??? Atmosphere non existent now, unless you want to pay $30 for a meal and eat on formica tables and cement floor and have constant carry out run by you. Food was not flavorful unless you added your own seasonings and some sauce, I had the barbeque platter, which included 2 dry ribs that did not fall off the bone, and three small piles of shredded meats that were sitting in juices. I suspect that because we were lunch on Sunday it was yesterdays ribs and the juice were an attempt to make the shredded meats moist. My companion had the walleye which was cooked perfect, and lightly breaded, but absolutely no flavoring, not even a lemon slice. We both had the mashed sweet potatoes, which by the time we got them had accumulated a ring of water around the almost soupy texture of the pile. Overall, ok, overpriced even with labor and supply chain issues, and wont be back soon.

2022-03-27Nice, clean, quiet dining area. Large variety of salads, sandwiches, barbecue, and seafood. The balsamic brussel sprouts were sooo delicious. The dessert tray was highly impressive, but I had to get it to-go because I was so full from all the delicious food. If youre in the area you MUST stop and give this family owned gem a try.

2022-04-22Tried just now to go there for some dessert. My wife has told she couldnt move her chair to the side of the table to sit next to her husband. Hostess was quite rude. There was plenty of room but they said they couldnt get around otherwise. We left. Might not go back

2022-05-19Delicious food, great service and atmosphere. And probably the best darn clam chowder ive ever had.I seriously have dreams about the clam chowder, i cant even eat other clam chowders because its just depressing knowing its not Omalleys clam chowder.I would probably trade my first born child for the recipe! When i was little id dip my corn bread in there and guzzle it down so fast I would choke on it.I never thought id want to marry a soup.

2020-03-02What an excellent family-owned restaurant. My partner and I stopped in for an early dinner last Sunday. It was our first time there, although I went to high school with the head chef/son of the owner Dennis, so I have know about OMalleys for many years. What a nice experience. Our server was very attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. The space space has a cozy, hole-in-the-wall feel, with classic dock-side tchotchkes and Irish regalia as decor. Very charming. We ordered drinks (they have a full bar) and a half-dozen raw oysters to start. I ordered perch with green beans as a side. She ordered seafood lasagna. My perch was pretty good, however the green beans were honestly the best Ive ever had. Bright and fresh, perfectly seasoned, and just the right amount of crunch. Although her lasagna was tasty, with big fat scallops and shrimp, it was a little too rich for her taste. Our entrees were accompanied with delicious, warm, homemade bread. The special was any entree over $15 gave access to the soup/salad bar, which was maybe the highlight of the meal (we are salad lovers so the salad is often our favorite part of a meal). All the veggies and toppings were incredibly fresh, and the dressings are all made from scratch. I LOVE LOVE LOVE homemade French dressing, so I was in heaven. There were also six kinds of soup. When I asked our server if I could try them all she playfully replied, youd better! We did and they were all tasty, our favorites being cream of mushroom and Manhattan clam chowder. We left with or bellies happily full, and that warm feeling of just having had a great meal with family.

2020-02-04My boyfriend and I finally got around to trying OMalleys after being in the area for almost 10 months. Sooo glad we did. The food was all really good. We got the poutine and Southern Oysters to start. I will say with the poutine, my only criticism is that the cheese should be cheese curds and not shredded cheddar. Everything else was really good. The gravy was perfect. My boyfriend liked the oysters. He was glad they were cooked right. They were not my fav as Im not really a fan of oysters. We both got the warm cider to drink and that was yummy. I got a chocolate martini which was also good. For dinner, I got the chicken Caesar sandwich. The chicken was cooked nicely and a good sandwich overall. My boyfriend got the Classic Burger (cooked medium rare), which he really enjoyed. The onion rings were also really good, and Im not a fan of them. So that tells you something. Really good batter on them. Cant wait to try their fish and chips. Burgers are all made in house by the owners son (who is the chef). With our dinners we split a cup of mushroom soup, and oh my goodness was it ever yummy. My boyfriend makes a super yummy mushroom soup and even he said that it was possibly better than his. Our waitress gave us a small taste of the new England clam chowder to taste and it was really good too. We ended up getting a bowl of the mushroom and clam chowder to go for another night. We also got a couple desserts to go too. The pineapple upside down cake and the banana cream. Both were super yummy. Mrs OMalley is the one who makes the desserts. Definitely cant wait to try some of the others. The banana cream pie has actual bananas in it, which is awesome. We will most definitely be going back and will be regulars now. All around great first experience. Highly recommend. 🙂

2022-06-19Awesome food and hospitality. New England Clam chowder was one of the best I ever had. Great Sauces. My kids loved the French Onion Soup, Calamari and Southern Oysters. Creme Brulee has a nice flavor and Crunch, Key lime pie was awesome. We will be back frequently.
