Once Upon A Child in other cities:
Would have gotten 5 stars but when I went there during their clearance event I was told they didn’t mark any of the bigger sizes clearance, so anything 2 t and up didn’t really have any sales. Should be specifying this during emails so people don’t waste time driving there for no sale in certain sizes. Otherwise I do like this place but will not be attending sale events any longer.
This is my first stop for any of my kids shopping needs. Love the cleanliness and organization of the store. The staff is always smiling and super friendly. If I need to call and ask about items, they are always very helpful and courteous. The prices are very fair and the condition of the items in the store are always very good. My kids love shopping here and love selling their old stuff to get new stuff.
We always love coming here. And always rave and recommend to friends. They have so many cute and high branded clothes for cheap. Love the grab bag events, and clearance. They always have a deal. And very happy with the amount of workers they always have on had considering it gets pretty busy most days.
Ive never been overly impressed with this place. I go here once in awhile when Im looking for play clothes for my kids. For how picky they are when you take clothes in, Im always shocked at the condition of some of the clothes on the shelves. Its also really difficult to find their sale items because they are just mixed in with everything else. It would be really nice if they had a designated sale area that was easy to look through. I love a good deal and typically head to the clearance or sale area of any store first.
We buy the vast majority of our childrens clothes here. The selection is outstanding and their prices are even better. I have sold many kids clothes here as well and its so much easier than having a garage sale or selling on Facebook. The staff have always been friendly and checkout is a breeze. I just wish the store were bigger so more than one person could fit down the aisles!
Love love love this store!! Whether were buying or selling I always feel like I walked away getting a phenomenal deal. Their selection is absolutely massive and the prices are a fraction of regular retail. I especially love their semiannual $1 day sales. I often find name brand (Under Armour, Ralph Lauren, even freaking Burberry once!!) and often including new with tags items for yep, only $1 each. They pay really well when you sell items to them, just make sure you follow their rules when bringing items in. Must be laundered, laying flat, in a tote with a lid.
Second hand childrens clothing store has great sales. Overall layout and racks are quite crowded but selection is good and clerks are helpful and pleasant. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. Original prices are more than most second hand stores, but items are freshly laundered. Watch closely though, not all items are like new.
Ive come to this store 6 or 7 times in the past year and I have never had a good experience here. The prices are decent and Ive always thought the selection was fine...but the EMPLOYEES. In general most places greet a customer to show they appreciate their business, or acknowledge your presence as you stand at the cash register for 2 whole minutes while FIVE, literally FIVE women stand behind the counter going through bins. (This is a small store, they can absolutely see me, its actually quite awkward). I get it, youre busy. But EVERY time Ive come in, this has been my experience. Ive never tried to sell here, but after reading other reviews, I will NEVER try. And I have been sure to steer fellow moms to other stores. The employees are extremely caddy, extremely unhelpful, extremely cliquish, and have never failed to make me feel like a 2nd rate customer. I cant believe Ive returned as many times as I have. No good feelings leaving that store. Manager needs to get things straightened out over there.
This is a great second hand shop/consignment shop. As a New Grandma I was looking to grab some things for an upcoming overnight with my grandson. I felt I better start getting prepared for the little one! This store helped me do just that! Gently used clothes and toys abound! Not expensive!!
I was very shocked to see the prices on some items. Items that had significant wash wear had price tags for $6-8. And many things that youd expect to be $2-3 were much more than that. I went to Walmart instead and bought all brand new clothing for the same price. I was also reading other reviews on here and MANY MANY other people said the staff is rude. I did not receive rude treatment, however was not even acknowledged when coming in or leaving.
I just visited this place in June. First time and had a good experience. I was able to get my granddaughter a bathing suit 2 pajama and 2 outfits for under $20. 2 pieces had original price tags. These clothes were in great shape for being at a second hand store. Very nice staff
Staff is not that friendly. They act like you are an inconvenience to them if you’re not sure of how to sell your items. I think their pricing is fair on what they’re selling, but selling TO them is a TOTAL JOKE. They’re extremely picky on what they take and how they take it and they act as though it is your fault if you don’t have the right items or they’re not displayed properly in the required see-through bin with a lid that closes completely. I only go there if I am looking for something specific and because my daughter likes the little carts. Otherwise, it’s more beneficial to sell your items on the Facebook marketplace and to buy brand new items for less at Walmart.
I walked in to try and sell baby clothes I didnt need just to come to find out the want a special totes just to look through them. And on top of it they just look through it and pick what they want and then tell you they are only gonna give $6 no thank you completely rude will never shop with them or sell to them.
These guys catch a lot of flack for strict rules, but if they didnt have those rules, the clothes on the rack would be junk. This was by far, the BEST Once Upon a Child location Ive been to. This one puts the ones in Grand Rapids to shame. The clothes on this locations racks are super nice. They almost always look brand new and the prices are amazing. Goodwill is the same price with wayyyyy worse quality.Ill definitely be back!
After a friend of mine told me you can take clothes to the store I decided since I have two that were in need of clothes I’d take our old gentle used clothes back and spend whatever money I got at the store to get what we needed. As soon as u walked in the door I was told they cannot accept anything that isn’t in a tote with a lid, mind you I called an hour or two before going and wasn’t told this so I made the 30 minutes drive there to be told that and turn around making the 30 minute drive home. Total waste of time :(
I have been to this store several times. I have sold and bought. Every time I have come into this store, I was greeted and welcomed by the employees while they were working at the front desk. They have fantastic sales and have great prices. You do have to pay more for name brands, but I am very willing to do this for the gently used clothing I buy. The process of selling was easy once I read how to sell them. The BEST gently used store on the West side.
The people are always very nice. The store is laid out in a way that makes it very clear where everything is. The owner is one of the kindest people I have ever met. Ive not used their buy back service. I know that they have specific rules that you have to follow which makes some people mad. Just give them a call and they will tell you how to bring in your stuff!
Recently, I made two visits to the Once Upon A Child Lansing location. I am writing this review because I had very different experiences than many of the other reviews I read prior to visiting the store. Both times I was greeted by friendly employees. The second time I visited it was fairly busy and although I had to wait, the employees were still friendly and apologized for the wait.As for the price they will pay for your clothing. I will admit it is a bit lower than I personally think my clothing is worth, but I was looking to sell a large amount of clothing at one time. You could certainly get a little more through a garage sale or by selling on Facebook, but it depends on how much time you want to invest to do those things. I have done garage sales and sold on Facebook and to me, it was worth selling to them to get rid of a large amount of items at one time. You can expect to get about $1-$1.30 per item. I had a great deal of items from the Gap but also had a lot of items from Target and Carters so it all evens out.If you follow the guidelines they have on their website or call and ask them how they prefer to receive the items it is a piece of cake. Just lay all clothing items FLAT in a plastic storage tote WITH a lid and you are good to go!I wish they would give you a receipt for your purchased items, but they will let you look at the receipt. I knew ahead of time there were a few items I wanted a certain amount for and they were happy to meet my requests.Overall I was pleased with my experience. The employee even helped me take my storage tubs back out to my car since I had my little guy with me and she knew it was hard to hold hands and storage totes at the same time.
Very, very rude workers. The cashier was talking bad to a coworker about another coworker in front of me at the checkout. The store has gone downhill immensely. The prices are decent at best. Several items had holes, large stains, or large bleach marks. When I gave these items to the worker so they were aware of the quality issues, the worker blamed children in the store for damaging the items.
They have a nice selection of nice clothes and baby/kid items for a decent price. The reason I’m taking off stars is because the customer service is pretty awful, and it’s always the “owner” as she loves to tell everyone, she’s usually rude, never nice, and is completely unapologetic about it. I almost always have the displeasure of her ringing me up, even though I will often let others skip ahead of me to try to avoid it. If didn’t work around the corner, I’d never shop at that location because of her, and I’d do all of my shopping at the Okemos location. The rest of the staff is great!
I have had positive experiences every time I have visited Once Upon A Child. I took in a tote of items and received a very fair price. I have also purchased a number of items. I feel most of their clothing is reasonably priced, however you do come across a piece here and there and wonder how they came up with that price. The larger toys however, seem to be a bit on the high end price wise.
Literally standing here waiting for my clothes to be done (sorted and looked through) while they are playing with the toys I brought in and trying on the costume masks and taking pictures. So INCREDIBLY unprofessional and rude. Very inconsiderate of my time and everyone else’s. There are 5 people “working” behind the counter and I’ve been waiting at least an hour. Won’t be back and I wish I could return the item I purchased just because of how disrespectful they are.
After going to the okemos location and them telling me they couldnt accept a lot of the clothes because they didnt have room for the sizes I had, they told me to try the Lansing location. I gave the Lansing location to call first since I live in Perry and didnt want to drive all the way out there for nothing, they said they have the availability for the sizes I had. After dropping off three totes of clothes yesterday, I get a text message shortly after that they are done with my drop off, which I thought was quick but okay. I go in and they offer me $3 for a couple of items because they couldnt go through all three totes because the clothes were folded. They needed them laid flat, or folded in half. The lady said that they would have taken a lot of the clothes, but because they were folded, they couldnt. So she told me to unfold them all and bring them back. So, a little upset, I took all three totes back and spent over an hour unfolding and reorganizing all of the clothes. I brought them back today and again I get a text message that they are done shortly afterwards. I go in and they are offering me $2 for a couple of items because they couldnt accept the rest because there is an odor and dog hair on two items. They told me to take them home and rewash all of them and bring them back. All of the clothes were washed and immediately put into totes with three dryer sheets each. There is no way there is odor or dog hair on them. They refused to do anything about how stressful this was and how I wasted $20 in gas twice. Worst place ever. I ended up just dropping all of the clothes off at Goodwill.Oh, and they refused to take the clothes that are paired (like pajamas) because I didnt put them together...even though they were in the same tote.
A great selection of clothing for kids of all ages (even my teen finds great stuff here)! Also lots of shoes, toys and books. Everything weve bought so far has been clean and well cared for. I buy a lot of my kids clothes here and would recommend it for any parent wanting to get great prices on clothes your kids will love.
Came in with a bag of all brand new items that were extras from baby shower gifts. They wouldn’t let me sell anything because it was in a gift bag not a container with a lid. I also didn’t have a receipt as these things were gifts from my baby shower. Their website says nothing about having to have a container with a lid. Terrible customer service. The lady explaining all this was SO SO rude. Sad that they could’ve gotten some really nice items, brand new with tags still attached but with their poor communication and customer service I do not think we will ever be back.
This was our first time visiting the store. We entered with very low expectations after reading the reviews. A few items had minor wear or could have used another wash they returned half of the items I brought but paid $50 for what they kept. Very polite, friendly and finished in 20 mins. I was very impressed and will definitely returned. I learned you cant judge a store off reviews you must visit for yourself. They definitely gained a customer today.
After reading these reviews, I was skeptical and came in with low expectations. I was very impressed. The 2 girls we dealt with were very nice and polite and we were paid a lot more than expected. They didnt take a lot of items that were never worn, but the items werent the brands they were looking for. We will certainly be coming back.
Horrible. I do not recommend this. Every time I go in the customer service is awful. There is either not enough people working so youre basically ignored unless youre checking out, or the workers are off doing their own thing and they dont even acknowledge you. One time I even needed help and asked someone and they acted like it was a huge inconvenience. Their website is also extremely misleading. I had entire garbage bag overflowing with kids clothes that I wanted to sell. Their website has this entire section for selling clothes titled How it works. It says to bring in toys, clothes, shoes, and furniture and they will pay you cash on the spot... Thats all it says. So I walk in there with my bag and after having to flag someone down, as previously mentioned, I found out they had all kinds of rules for donating that were not on their website. Not only was their buying desk closed that day, because apparently it doesnt follow regular business hours that the rest of the store follows, buyout apparently they require you to go out and pay for a giant tote just to donate your stuff. Im donating because I clearly have too much stuff as it is and Im trying to earn money. Requiring me to go out and spend money just to sell them something, and then also have a giant tote taking up the space I just cleared out by donating the clothes, is a really horrible set up and again, Their theirwebsite section dedicated to selling stuff did not mention any of this... I jad to haul my giant bag all the way back out. I do not recommend going here. I will continue to just take my clothes to goodwill and let the competitors make money.
I really love this store. The baby and toddler hand me downs are like new. Some still have the tags on them. I spent 50$ and bought lots of summer and church outfits and a bathing suit and two pairs of shoes. Going back for a baby swing. Theres toys and puzzles, sippy cups and sunglasses.
Good place to buy, but selling is a joke. Have to do a lot of work for little money. Plus they took parts of outfits and left me with the rest. What am I supposeto do with the diaper cover to a dress, thats very obvious an outfit, as they were laid together in the tote. Youll get more money selling at a yard sale or online.
I was in today and witnessed my favorite girl being bullied. Hailey who usually cashes me out is super kind and has a system when it comes to ringing things up/taking them off the hangers, I don’t even get in her way!!! Today I unfortunately witnessed her in a very uncomfortable and disrespectful situation she handled wonderfully. I usually don’t write reviews but I could tell the situation bothered her even though she did nothing wrong and handled it amazingly, and I felt that needed to be shared. I’ve always had pleasant experiences with her, she goes above and beyond when helping me and is always so so sweet in our interactions whether she is helping me find something, cashing me out, or simply offering my child a sticker who doesn’t want to sit in the cart so I can shop! Hopefully you see this and keep up the good work and don’t let the small things get to you!
Unfortunately, I had to give them 1 star to even write the review.Employees dont even look up or say hello when you walk inside, but that is not my gripe with this store. They make their process for selling clothes RIDICULOUS! They must be freshly laundered (and I dont mean wash with your regular clothes, make a pile, and take it in to sell in a couple weeks). I am all for washed items, for sure, but clothes MUST smell of laundry soap/dryer sheets to be even looked at by them. So long unscented laundry soap if you want to sell here!! Also, clothes must be laid out in bin, not folded because they wont look at them, with a lid. No lid-no look at clothes. So, after all the time I spent prepping my clothes (quite a lot of clothes) they took back two or three items, offering me $8 (I laughed on the inside). I also watched two other customers hauling multiple bins back to their cars wondering why they dont buy hardly anything. The clothes were in excellent shape, and they offer no explanation of why they didnt buy hardly anything.Their prices seem to be pretty steep as well. I noticed many used items that were well over $25-and we are talking about baby clothes!Maybe this store is just so full of over-priced inventory that wont sell, and thats why they dont buy hardly a thing. Regardless of the reason, it would be nice for them to let you know when you come in, or on web site, that they arent buying clothes much anymore. It would save many other busy moms like me the time and effort of prepping all these clothes, just how they want them, for nothing.I will not be returning to this store. You can get brand new items for almost the same prices if you look around a little, and save yourself the time & irritation of hoping the ladies who run this store think your clothes smell like the right type of laundry soap.
Girls working take in were rude and non accommodating. They were of the attitude that they didnt need or want my business. I drove across town to come here and all items were freshly washed and in good condition. I will donate items to needy rather then give them business. Their loss. I have done plenty of business at the Troy location and they are wonderful to work with. They check items within an hour of drop off and you get you money that day. It is worth the drive to Troy!!!
So we went in shortly after they opened in Lansing and sold some items. I thought they payed out rather low. However I figured it was fair.... Until today.Today was our second visit to this location. We took in a lot of gently used toys that worked great and had all the parts to them. My husband and I spent a lot of time making sure all the parts were together putting things that were loose items in zip lock baggies. We made sure everything worked that we brought in as well. needless to say they told us we had missing parts to toys ( not true ) that things didnt work ( also not true ) they also told us they tried new batteries and it still didnt work ( when we took it to another pre-loved boutique they informed us the table didnt have batteries... they stole our batteries...). They said they would only pay out $13 for what was in the tote. One of the toys that sells for $25 at Toy R Us / Babies R Us... they offered us $1.25 for.... new never worn items ( hat and mittens ) they still had tags on them for $8 they offered me .35 for.... They are a joke. If you walk around the store and look at the prices on items they under pay and over price. I get they have employees to pay, and a building to rent, as well as the electricity and other bills/ expenses. What i dont get is how they can be in business and have a low pay out. I think that they should have to have ranges posted somewhere on how they price. We waited 3 1/2 hours for them to go through our items only to be given a ridiculously low offer. I asked how they priced their items and she said they dont the computer does. I do not plan to ever go back to them and give them my business. I however did take everything to a pre-loved boutique just down the road a few miles a place we have been going to for 5 years now, and they took everything as well as priced the items more realistically. I will never recommend going to once upon a child nor will i shop there. I cant bring myself to shop at a place that is robbing customers. Its unfortunate too. They did have lots of items i was interested in purchasing. not any more. I left today so angry with the store.
We shop and sell at this location often. Tonight was the worse customer service I’ve experienced at a “professional” establishment. From the time we dropped our stuff off , the employees were rude. I watched the older lady working roll her eyes as customers were walking in. Most things weren’t bought because they were rushing and didn’t want to go through the bins to start with. Loyal customers/ customers period the ones helping make money and boom business should not be treated like this. The experience is always hit or miss depending on whose working. Should hire people who want to work and do their job.
I came in with my Mom in hopes to sell my daughters 0-9 month clothing, most with tags still attached that she never was able to wear. The lady that was at the counter was very rude, and snobby. We were actually taken aback being as though we’ve sold there before and haven’t had nearly as bad of an experience. I had all of my things folded in a laundry basket as I do with both locations I’ve gone to with no issue! The lady chuckled and said “yeah we don’t accept anything that isn’t in a tote with a lid, you can walk next door and buy one for $15.00 or less then I’ll look.” So I looked at my Mom and she said okay I’ll walk next door. After doing what the rude lady asked she then refused to look at the stuff because it wasn’t laid out flat and then said “by the looks of your baby we don’t even take anything 6 months and less” (which all that I had) then she said “especially onesies we aren’t even taking those”. So i was at this point irritated as hell over the staffing, decided to look around for a minute because my daughter desperately needed some clothing, and their selection was slim to none? So I’m confused as to why they weren’t taking name brand clothing, tags still on them. So disappointed and I will never be returning
Always having good deals and good clothes! My Wife and I are always grabbing our niece and nephew clothes for summer and winter here! My favorite buy was a Harley Davison leather jacket. He was 2/3yrs old and he I nearly 4/5 yrs old and it still fits and looks amazing! Best Finds for kids here!
The absolute rudest customer service providers in the history of retail. I was a loyal buyer and seller at this store until countless episodes of rude behavior from the staff. A few months ago, I asked my husband to drop some stuff off to sell for me and it being his first time doing so, he wasnt sure what to do and instead of helping him, the girl working yelled at him for just standing there looking around for signs of what to do! He vowed to never go back. The past two times that I have sold to them I had witnessed similar behavior towards other customers then just yesterday 2/16/19 I was treated disrespectfully all because I asked to see how much they were offering for my items (the lowest offer I have ever received on stuff that was mostly new with tags!) and was told I couldnt take the offer receipt with me, I could only look at it for a second... well I quickly seen why since the offer had items mislabeled saying Carters brand when it was Gymboree and not listed as new. A $30 Gymboree bathing suit that was new with tags was only given a $1.20 offer!! So because I decided not to sell my stuff for such a low-ball offer (I was exceptionally nice the entire time, even when treated rudely) I was told to go fill my own totes back up with the stuff they were offering buy from their OUAC tote, to which I obliged, but because I was bent down below the counter filling the totes back up, the other worker loudly commented that I left and stole their tote because she couldnt see me! I stood back up and asked her directly if she had just accused me of stealing their tote from them and she laughed and shrugged her shoulders. I will NEVER be back there again. I cannot believe how those workers treat people!!!!!
They said 1.5-2 hours wait because there were a few people ahead of me, it was closer to the 2 hour mark. There were about 3 or 4 people working, at the pace of sloths. I don’t know why they were taking so long. I’ve only ever been here one other time and now I remember why I didn’t come back for over a year. The place smelled like a porta-potty which made the experience even worse. A lot of the clothes were in extremely used condition and they were asking a lot for these old items. But...I got $80 from them...
Every time ive been in there the workers are standing around typically ignoring customers and always gossiping about one another. Which makes the visit unpleasant to begin with. In addition they are very picky every time I bring stuff in but yet the stuff I have found on the shelves that they have purchased from other people is worn out Ive even found stuff with stains and holes yet they wont take things that I bring in that are in good condition and if they do take items they dont pay you much at all for themI am definitely done shopping or selling there
We took several bins full of childrens items there to have them see if they wanted to purcase any of them. We decided not to sell our items there. When we got home from picking up out items, after being pushed out the door, because they were trying to close, we realized that they didnt give us back an entire 18 gallon tote full of kids shoes and boots. They are denying they ever had them and unwilling to pay us for the items that they never give us back. I will NEVER shop here or take items to sell here again!
I just bought regular priced items on 8/9/18 still in bag with tags on and am well within the 7 days. However, owner wouldnt allow me to return them and rebuy with 30% off offered 8/10/18 - 8/12/18. Very dissatisfied customer. I buy a lot of things from here. Reason was she just cant. :(
Place is a joke. Wouldnt take any clothes because they had fold creases. Advertise what you want specifically. Waste of time. Employees are rude and kept talking about some dude one of them hooked up with instead of assisting me. Pretty much all the clothes I looked at had stains or wrinkles. WHAT A JOKEEEEE.
So I went in there today to sell items, the young lady was rude from the start and very loud! Stated a jumperoo that was less than a year old and like new was rickety (again very loudly!) They are under priced for items you are selling. If you need cash on the spot (that day - it will take a few hours), then go there. I will no longer be going here, I will gladly take my items elsewhere and not be treated like crap!
They had nice things but were extremely over priced. Hair bows starting at $3-$10 at a resale shop. They dont pay fair at all I would estimate around .35 for each piece of clothing or pair of shoes that barley has been touched that they will keep. If you pay $60-100 they might give you $3 for it.
This store is beyond rude and ridiculous. I had a whole big bin full off clothes and shoes nicely laid out and got turned away because I didnt bring the lid to the bin. I asked the purpose of this rule and they stated so we can stack bins, mind you there was no other bins to look at when I got there so mine wouldve been looked at next. They also gave me 17 dollars for a brand new $70 swing that my son used maybe twice. The employees are alwaysVery short and rude when you ask them a question as well. Dont waste the time taking things for them to buy. I paid more in gas driving across town than what I recieved from them.
I tried to sell some baby items that they wouldnt take. Okay, fair, no big deal. The entire time I could see the ladies at the front watching us like we were thieves or something. They act like theyre annoyed that you even walked in. The women there are judgey, rude and not friendly whatsoever. Also, everything is overpriced. I will not be going back.
I wish half a star were an option. Very discriminating and prejudice. Three times told items needed to be in a different container than what we brought. And each time we saw people bringing containers we had brought before. Also, beware of dog. Shopping here could cause your asthmatic child to have an attack just being in the store.Youd do more good donating to Goodwill, VOA, or Salvation Army, and youd find better deals on items in just as good condition.
Usually when you walk into a business the employees greet you and smile. everyone looked up but didnt even speak. while walking around the store, i passed a few employees no one asked if i needed help finding anything. and as far as the prices go they are way over priced. $5 for newborn pants and onesies. no way.
More expensive than similar stores. I called to see if I could make a return without a receipt, they said I could but then once I got to the store they told me I couldnt. Make sure you know their rules. After checking the websites guidelines, I then hauled in a bunch of clothes (along with my heavy 10 month old) that I thought I could sell only to be told they wouldnt accept anything because it wasnt in a plastic box. Employees are often rude as well. I no longer shop here.
First experience and it was horrible. Walked in to about maybe 6 employees...did not receive any sort of greeting from any of them. A simple hello is really not difficult, but apparently some need training in social skills/customer service. I had my children with me and it is a childrens store so not sure what they expect when kids come into their store...but any noise the kids seemed to make ticked them off. I reprimanded my kids when they were pushing their carts a little too fast. Situation taken care of. My kids tried to play on a scooter. Took it away from them and said not in the store. Taken care of by me. Situations all under control, but one snooty curly haired blonde decided to walk past us checking things out in our area as if we were tearing things apart. (nothing out of place) She walks back to her little area after shaking her head and rolling her eyes to her snooty little coworkers who think they are above all. Disbelief. I rarely have a bad experience anywhere I go but this takes the cake. I dont care if each piece of clothing is 25 cents, I will never return to this location again. Employees should take a class on how to treat customers with respect...they are completely lacking customer service skills. Should be mandatory in any retail store!! If you cant stand children, dont work in a childrens store. Period. Hopefully I can save another customer from going in there and feeling completely unwelcome. So disgusted. Left my items in my cart and left.
They are picky weird on the clothes they take for exchange. I have bought things from them, then tried to sell them back in exact same condition with their TAG STILL ON, and they wont take it. Kind of weird you would sell it to me, but it not be good enough to take back.
First off,, employees are rude, short with you, and VERY VERY picky with what they will accept. Basicly unless the items look brand new out of the package they will be turned away.Second, they have very specific rules that you wont find even on the web site.... it states...... It is most efficient for us to review items folded neatly or laid flat in a box, bin or tote. Please, no hangers or garbage bags.it does NOT say a Tote with a LID is the ONLY way they will return any item but once you drive all the way there they sure as hell will tell you.Oh, and when it comes to getting money for what you want to sell them, its laughable. Basically they have mastered the art of ripping off moms who could use a few extra dollars.could not ever recommend this place to anyone unless you like to be unerpaid for what you bring them, and then overcharged for buying used merchandise.
Employees in the store seemed more interested in speaking to one another crowded behind the check out desk, then they did speaking to customers. It felt hard to approach them as none of them were eager to check me out, I waited several minutes before asking for service. Poor customer service.
As far as selling your items to them youll get the bare minimum back. Im not really sure what their opinion of pristine clothing is. However, most items I took in were name brand and new condition with no stains or tears. Half of my items were not purchased and was informed that they showed wear and tear! Id like to know what their definition of that is. In my opinion theyre just as bad as Platos closet and youd make more money selling the items yourself.
I usually love shopping here , obviously because you can get quite a bit for cheap but the fact that most of the staff that works here are extremely rude and acted as it dealing with me was such a bother to them because it meant they actually had to do simple work (check me out and answer a question)
I will never waste my time going there again . They paid $1 for brand new outfits that cost $24 then turn around and sell them for $10-$12 :/ smh and to top it off a few of the workers was very rude , talking about customers as they walked out the door but doing it right in front of the other customers that was standing in line to pay . I would give it no stars if that was a option!
Wood not ever Recommend this place to people not only me but 2 outh people Ahead of me the Workers told us that are stuff Smelt and at the same time we all over here one of the worst say she dont want to Tag all of the clothes that are coming in and they had a kid work for them I am very upset with them

2022-05-05Bad customer service. I took in a bin of clothes and was told i had to come back the next day because the buy counter was closed.. Wasnt open the next day. I went back a few days later with the same bin then the same girl told me they had to be in a tote with a lid..like you couldnt have told me this when you saw the bin the day before? Then the woman at the buy counter was rude and I guess she couldnt hear me through my mask because she yelled WHAT every time I spoke in a really annoyed demeanor. She was really rude and short with me. She was older so she must have some type of hearing problem, but I dont even let my child speak to me like this. I took in a variety of jackets, onsies, shoes, sandalds, bibs, and a brand new netted carseat cover for the summertime to keep bugs away since its May and getting really nice out. They didnt accept one thing. They said they have too many onsies and dont need anything under 18mo, but my items were from nb-2T.. I asked about the other items and they just said oh we wouldnt buy those All of my items were brand new or worn maybe once because my daughter had a ton of clothes when she was born. Waste of time. Very annoyed with their behavior and laziness.

2022-01-18Lansing, MI location. Selling new and gently used toddler and young childrens items, including a girls wool Rothschild dress coat and hat purchased in Fall 2019@Macys (worn twice ), girls tennis shoes nwt (never worn), 3 V-tech toys w/batteries (played with only a few times), baby stand-up walker, childrens books, and unopened puzzles. The woman said, We have 11 items here, and we will pay you $11.19. That was the equivalent of $1.017 per item. I didnt not accept the offer. Frankly, I thought I misunderstood her. So I went back in the store and asked if I heard correctly. She went on to tell me about their computer generated prices. Ill donate the items before I accept their insulting offer.

2021-11-23Have to bring items your selling in a bin otherwise they will not look at it. Need to sign into the Kiosk and will need your Drivers license number.

2018-11-14We bought our oldest daughter a reversible Baby Phat coat and snow pants and got out of there for less than $15.00. Thankful for this store and the opportunity it brings to the community... Also have bought some shoes there. They were in great condition and under $10.00. Thank you.

2022-04-09Worst once upon a child experience, customer service was terrible. Not Polite at all and talk more than they worked. Gave us dirty looks and just did not make us feel welcome. Wish I could give it 0 stars. Don’t waste your time 💁♀️

2021-12-11There customer service really sucks. No one smiles or greets you and keep in mind its a kids clothing store. If you are going to work at a clothing store, you need to be friendly. They also turn people away because they dont have a lid to go with their bin! The amount they give you when they buy from you is literally pennies. You guys go and support tiny town and she gives way better payment !

2021-11-06Lansing Once Upon a Child location is a joke. I got a stroller here for $30, went to Walmart and it was on sale for $25, they refused to take it back because it wasn’t in good shape. I had bought it that day, I couldn’t find the receipt. Tried taking clothes back today. Most had tags on them, they wouldn’t take them because the tote didn’t have a lid. Don’t waste your time. They are over priced, and don’t pay enough for the hoops you have to jump through to bring clothes to sell.

2021-07-06I went to sell two totes of clothes/toys and I got there ten minutes before closing time. I was not greeted when I entered and no one said anything to me about carrying two heavy totes in. I was then informed it was too close to closing time to leave my totes and I would have to haul them back out to my car and bring them back in tmw. Not good customer service at all. Like they couldnt just take my totes and wait until the morning to go thru them.
