They are so rude,they take everything new clothes for nothing,i dont sell anything to this store i got some toy for them and they had Accuses like It has a Dirty little scratch from pencil you can Barely see it and they DID NOT TAKE IT And its annoying they couldnt just take that and Wipe it and it will go off
They want to text updates on sales and promotions that they have but don’t take the time to let people know about their buying bin policy WHICH is always changing. First no bags, then only two bins, now I come today and drive all the way from Redford, and now only 18 gallon bins. They used to be courteous about this because they have changed their buying policy so much. But guess not today. Telling me to go next door to buy a new bin or go to Busch’s to get a box. 🙄I understand policy changes, etc, but they need to have a better way to let people know about changes. Lots of people drive pretty far for this. It’s always something new every time I come to sell.You wouldn’t have a business without people bringing in their gently used items! Start to treat your customers who are selling to you better! If there was another kid consignment shop around you would be in huge trouble. I’m not selling to them anymore.EDIT: Your reply is insufficient. If you appreciate the review, you should take into consideration that you need a better way to communicate with sellers! You have a way to communicate sales and promotions for the store, why not have a text opt in for sellers?? It would create less confusion for sellers, less wasted time and money for sellers, and less communication and negative energy between seller and store. It’s mind blowing to me that this problem has not been solved. It takes two seconds to come up with the idea I did. You send texts about sales, send texts to update sellers on buying policies.
If I could give no stars, I wouldThey didnt buy any of my items, and I was ok with that. The entire staff was rude and nasty. I got stares and snickers from them but no assistance. I bought some shirts because I really needed them and my children were with me so I kept my composure. But never again will I leave my home and travel down the street to this awful location. Id rather drive out of the way or no longer shop with once upon a child. Just...NO
The girl that waited on me (with green hair) was extremely rude and short with me. I dropped off items to sell and 4 hours went by and she did not bother to text that the order was ready, I had to call. I will never go there again! Bad attitude=bad business!
Staff is friendly treats you like family and they always have such good deals I never walk out empty handed! My kids love coming in and looking at the toy section and the store is always so clean and smells fresh
When I do go to this location the workers are rude !! They dont speak and barley want to answer a question if you got one just a very rude vibe when I walk into this location now the Canton location love it all the workers are very nice and very helpful if I did need anything 😊 😀
Require masks, even if you’re fully vaccinated. I had a large covered vinyl bin with handle and they told me they won’t accept anything in a bag. It’s not a “bag”. I took all of my name brand barely worn clothes to Salvation Army instead. I’d rather donate to a good cause then deal with such an annoying place. Go somewhere else that has much better customer service.
We didnt get much back for our trade in and they didnt accept many of the onsies we brought in despite them being brand new. They had practically zero bodysuits and outfits for 9 to 12m. Found maybe like 8 and half of them were from the boys section since they really didnt have any in the girls. Its a shame, I saw good reviews and figured this location would be better than the one in Canton, guess we will try the Canton one next time.
They offer low prices for the items you bring in. Make sure you check there website for there policies. Otherwise they will decline your things. Who wants to lug there trunk with things drive all the ways here to only be told no. They do offer a rewards program for frequent shoppers. If you share your email the store alerts you when they have a sale going on. Worth doing if you shop here often.
I enjoyed my shopping trip here, they had lots of stock in the baby & toddler clothing sections but not as much for older kids. I love their 10 for 10 onsie bins and they have very cute baby jewelry! They have a rewards program that was quick to sign up for, havent been on it long enough to say if its worth signing up for though. The employees were friendly and helpful, everything was well organized for a resale store, and they had a public restroom with a changing table in it. Overall I would recommend to people I know!
Waste of time and money. Dont try to sell back items here! Waited an hour for $3.Edit: 2 boxes with everything still in the box exactly as I brought it in. Even your wanted items werent wanted. Staff had bad attitudes when I asked about specific items in good condition. Wont be returning and I posted this only to encourage others not to either.
I went in to sell clothes & look around. The reviews for the Troy location made me nervous about the company all together. I called, she explained what they like, dont like, & what they pay. I packed the box so all the sets were together.Most of what I brought was bought & she explained really nicely what they couldnt take. I received fair amounts for each item. Its based on the selling price. They finished with my box well before I made it back to the counter & everyone was nice to me. We left with a bag of clothes and a little cash left over.The stroller fit through the isles.They had an entire row of strollers, pack and play was on the list of things they like (I think theyre looking for some), and the toy section was overwhelming. I guess somebody read the other review& made changes. Thats good to see.I recommend selling and shopping at this location.
Employees weren’t the friendliest. I asked about bringing in donations in the future and the employee said they weren’t accepting any as they were going through totes of donations...if you do end up going here make sure you bring a bag to bring your items out in because they are a “bag less company” even though the Brighton location has always given me a bag. I will just stick with the Brighton location from here on out & take my donations to another kids resale shop.
Great selection at this store! The winter clothes could have been better organized but thats what everybody is buying right now and they had a lot of coats. I was impressed with how well the shoes were organized compared to other secondhand stores that Ive visited. The staff were very helpful.
Staff was not very friendly. You do not get much money for selling things here but if you just want to unload things then the money is ok. The clothes are usually good but the shoes in the bins are always really dirty and the toys seem to be missing pieces and look like a cluttered mess on the shelves. Some clothing items are priced rather high for used items, especially considering how little they pay people for the item but if you need a few clothes to bulk up the closet its not a bad place to shop.
The staff was friendly, and the clothes selection was good, the products they had for sale were all in great condition and for a good price. The only downside is there wasnt much furnishing or toys, especially for infants. Im sure it is because the store simply doesnt have the space for a big collection of baby gear like pack n plays, strollers and cribs.
I went to the Novi location, Monday, october 23, 3017. There were 3 girls working. The girl with pink hair was so sweet the other two were rude & mean. I took four baskets they bought a small bag. I was so annoyed some of their stuff is older & torn Halloween customs for $14 & $12. I took things new with tags. I like the location in Canton but it too far. I went be going there l dont recommend it. It was my first & last time. I called & asked what l needed before l went they said nothing when l got there she said you need your license l told her I just spoke to you l think her name was Brittany. And theres more things that am just over it. They gave me wrong money for my stuff the two girls whispering like were in high school so rude...etc
We came in today, as soon as they opened, to sell and purchase items & Ashley had such a nasty attitude. Im not sure if she was having a bad morning or what but she wasn’t friendly or inviting at all. She didnt make eye contact with us the entire interaction. The store has great deals but seriously needs some better customer service skills.
I drove an hour to go bring in two large totes of girls clothing. I already had gone through the stuff and given away all the stuff I knew they wouldnt take. I was surprised to see they didnt take the designer dresses from New Jersey, or the Carters sleepers that were like new. The stuff I brought in was nice stuff. They only took a small pile, not even enough to fill a grocery bag. The reason... Style, and stains... I looked at the stuff and there were not stains on them. As for style, some of the stuff was not the newest, but it was all very cute. I have three girls and even brought in some boy clothing. It was not worth my hour drive. Where I live there is not a store near me. Not sure I want to try to make a drive like that again.
I have been to OUACs in Monroe, Canton, Perrysburg, Sylvania, Ann Arbor, Pittsburgh PA, Columbus OH, Lexington KY (it’s one of my favorite stores and we travel/have lived a few other places, lol) and this is maybe half the size of the smallest of those stores (Monroe). They also don’t allow shopping carts? They said we could use strollers for my daughter to sit in but I guess I just find that really weird to use the strollers they have for sale? I went out of my way to try this location since I’d never been here but yeah, it wasn’t worth it at all. I didn’t have any issues with the staff though, they were nice, just not much stock in the sizes I needed.
First and last experience with this place. Brought in a large plastic bin with over 50 pairs of girls shoes in very good condition. Many of them brand name and/or never worn, all different styles and sizes. Was offered $11.75 for 8 of them. They could not even give me a reason for not taking any of the others. Complete waste of time. I can get more as a tax credit giving these to salvation army and people that really need them.
Took in a few great quality items, which they didnt have any of to sell (bumbo, fisher price sling seat and piano play mat). These items were in excellent condition. They offered practically nothing, barely my time and gas. When asked to up the price a few bucks, I was lied to about computer generating prices etc AFTER I heard the girl ask the other employee doing intakes what should we give her for it. Thankfully I wasnt looking to make a ton of money, just wanted unload the items, but there is no reason to lie. Please go in knowing this so if you are selling items and needing the money, you can get the best deal.
I took in a ton of gently used clothes. All name brand, stain free and tear free. Even wrinkle free. The girl barely bought back anything, including items that still had tags on them. I asked her why because my stuff was way nicer and in better condition then half the stuff I see on their racks. She said she is just pickier than most of the others. I understand being picky to an extent but when my items are in great condition ? Ive sold here several times, Im well aware of whats accepted and what isnt. Im never a fan of this girl anyway when i go in because she is not friendly at all but she put a really bad taste in my mouth tonight .Wont sell here again .
The staff have horrible attitudes most days but every now and again there is one nice diamond to bring a little sunshine sparkle of kindness in the store. This store is junky and cluttered but thats because its too small and theyve outgrown this location. The store doesnt have anything but 1 shopping cart in store...at least 3 weeks ago they did, so, prepare to bring your stroller but they do offer shopping bags. Of all of the locations, I have found alot of unique items here; but, they are overpriced.In short, if you are new to once upon a child Id say head to the canton location for your first experience...heck call of your experiences...lol. Canton staff are always friendly, the store is busy but roomy, feels like youre shopping at an actual kids store and not second hand and the prices are ridiculously amazing. Ive literally gone to Novi and Canton in the same day inly to see that some of the exact sane items were being sold for $3-$8 more at Novi....a new pricer is needed. Also, if you would like to sell a few of your items, Canton gives a better payout.
I dropped my items (2Bags) off on a Monday around 11:00 and they told me that I could come back around 3:00, however I never received a call. So I called back on THURSDAY and ask if they had they went through my things, and to my surprise I was told they couldnt find my two bags. I guess someone needed the items more than I did. I hope the store does a better job next time.Go BLUE
I love OUAC, in general, but I was disappointed with this location. First, its SMALL - so small youre not even allowed to use a cart which makes things VERY difficult with small children and thats the whole purpose of the store. Its hard to manage holding clothes, and children, the racks are overcrowded and difficult to sort through, the pricing compared to other OUACs is overpriced and the staff didnt seem friendly. Id prefer to go to a different OUAC to be perfectly honest.
If I could give this location no stars, I would. The associates in this store have horrible customer service and I highly recommend others to go elsewhere. The Canton location is much more pleasant than this location.
Disappointed.My sister picked up a jumpero at this location (because I no longer live in the area.) Not only was it was dirty and missing pieces, but it was double the cost of a Mom2Mom. Which would have been fine if it wasnt missing pieces! (Sister doesnt know any better, she doesnt have children yet) Im very disappointed in once upon a child, not the quality I used to get from them.
I drove 45 minutes out the way to this particular location, what a waste. There are no carts, how do you shop with no carts. It was small and crowded as well. I usually go to Troy and Canton, those locations are way better
So far I have been able to find plenty of options to meet my needs at this Once Upon A Child. The clothes are clean, and neatly organized. The employees have always been cheerful and polite.
I dont even want to give 1 star. Rude staff. Racist.Lazy staff . I gave a big pile of clothes , and they say we cant take it there are stains. True, I just get a big pile of stained clothes to sell. Guess I m not that insensitive. People are lazy to go through stuff.
Hate the staff, very hostile environment, zero communication skills or customer skills. They dont seem nice, and they dont act nice. But they have a nice selection of clothes so if you can get over the poor customer service then this place isnt half bad.
I always, always , always find what I need. Their prices are extremely reasonable, and with their 20% off cards, you get an amazing deal on quality items. I have been going to OUAC since my oldest was born 10 years ago, and will continue to do so.
Awful experience.I bought a stroller and then decided we didn’t want it because I couldn’t get the car seat to go with it, so I took it back. They told me they couldn’t buy it back because there where stains on it! The same stains that were on it when they sold it to me!Will never shop here again.Staff is also extremely rude!
Wasn’t welcomed at all customers and employees stared at me and my son like we were out of place maybe because we are African American that’s the vibe I got. When I purchased shirts cashier was very dry. Went to another location and same shirts were half the price but I will NEVER step foot in this location again so I won’t even go back to return the items I purchased. I will just take it as a lost.
I brought in 2 baskets of updated, clean and neatly folded clothing and waited 2 hrs for the snotty acting girls to tell me they couldnt take anything and I could tell they never even went through the clothing because nothing was unfolded
We always get fair prices for our used childrens clothes here, and the selection of clothing they have is amazing. We always enjoy visiting this location, the staff is very professional and friendly.
I love once upon a child and have had no problems at other locations but the Novi one. There were no shopping carts, rude staff, and overpriced items! Go elsewhere!
Ive been here twice and found clothing for my baby son. However, b. Poth times Ive been there has been awful music; it was heavy metal or rap and very angry. The music made me not want to browse once I found what I was looking for.
I really love this store! I think it is clean and well organized. Never tried selling anything, but I like shopping here!
Customer service is awful. Dont expect to be treated nicely by these people. Apparently working at a thrift shop means you dont have to be nice to people.

The store isnt the cleanest, but it is absolutely full of all kinds of items for babies and children. I stop here about once a month to pick up new clothes for a growing child!

2022-09-07Should have read the reviews before I drove out here to sell. They will only go through one small box a day and tell you to go buy a smaller box if the one you bring is too big. Would have been nice if they put this policy on their website or fb page instead of a sign on the door. Maybe you wouldn’t get so many bad reviews if your policy was more clear BEFORE people drive out.

2022-04-23All the reviews that show this store in any negative light are just frustrated with themselves. This store has the friendliest and cleanest environment for any OUAC store out there. They are quick when it comes to the selling process and very helpful ! 10 out of 10 would recommend to any mamma wanting good quality used items and to sell some of their old childrens/babies items.

2022-08-11Save your time… Go to the Canton location. Brought items in to sell, was told to go next door to get a box as they no longer accept bags. Went to the ACE hardware store, spent $10 on a box only for the associate to tell me it was too big of a box…. Took everything to Canton- no issues AND MUCH BETTER associate customer service.

2022-06-17Terrible customer service. This location is terrible . Depending on who you are they won’t even say hello. Wait times are crazy especially for how high gas is now. Made me wait a whole day to come back and get my buy for $10 they could have kept that. Then say it’s due to staining and west but HAVE YOU SEEN what they have on the racks . Especially the shoes. I would give 0 stars if I could. Never returning.

2022-09-10Natalie was extremely rude upon arrival. Dropped off our items to sell. Shopped in store for 30+ mins. Decided to leave and come back later. 1 minute down road we get notification to come back. Was told our items smelled too bad. Items are all brand new with tags, from a smoke and pet free home. Very easily had the impression Natalie did not want to take any of our items from the moment we walked in. There is no way she looked at any of our items as when we left our bin had not been touched.

2021-12-06I absolutely love this store.Sometimes I take my gently used baby items in to try to sell them. I usually take 1 bin in a month.I usually find great deals for my infant! They have bins of buy 10 onesies for $10. They have deals on Tuesdays. Remember to bring your own bags or purchase one for a small fee. I just bring my own to cut cost.The staff is really friendly and super helpful.

2021-09-20Staff is friendly and buying from their store seems easy but I would NOT recommend selling to them. A friend warned me against it but I thought I would give it a try. She was totally right. Its a tedious process that wastes so much of your time that its not worth it. As frustrating as it can be to sell items online, it is no less frustrating (or less time consuming) to try an sell to this store. And you will probably get more money in your pocket doing it on your own.Also, they have mostly baby clothes. There was not a lot in the way of kids. I had size 8 boys and size 6 girls clothes that were all in pristine condition (some stuff still had tags on it and lots were NWOT) and all name brand (GAP, NIKE, Under Armour, etc..). They said thats the stuff that they need. Well, they didnt get it because their policies for buying are so tedious.Update: Your store did not reject any of my items. They did not look at any of my items because I left. I was told how long I had to wait and how long it would take to go through my items. Nearly 2 hours was ridiculous (I arrived 3 minutes after the store opened). The process is just too much of a time consuming hassle.An improvement would be to setup an appointment system so that it is not so time consuming.

2022-02-23Very frustrating that they wont accommodate if you bring your clothes to sell in the wrong kind of container your first visit there. Driving 20+ min for this kind of inflexibility is very irritating. I get that they have rules for how they want the clothes brought in but if you had told me the rule for the next time but give me some leeway for my first visit I would appreciate that.
