Comment: Worst insurance company ever. premium tripled over the past a few years. Removed coverage on my roof citing it was too old, even though it was completely replaced a year ago. Sent them proof and receipt of replacement, they never bothered to add the coverage back. A tree on my property fell due to rain and high wind this year, they denied the claim on the excuse that the tree fell becuase of “ground movement”. Good luck having any fallen tree covered becuase I haven’t seen any tree fallen without also uprooting with all the soil around it.

The California Department of Insurance in their Homeowners Complaint Composite Report posted on their website, ranks them among the worst, position 40 out of 50, with 50 being the worst, regarding justified complaints. They got an F rating, their lowest, from the Better Business Bureau, And its easy to understand how they got a one star, their lowest rating, from Yelp. Quite literally its companies like this give insurance companies a bad name.

First they took so long to respond. And after that they send field adjuster. He took pictures of damage and he told me that company will respond me within week. After 3 weeks when I contacted them, they started saying this is not covered that is not covered. And also they never gave me detail of policy detail. Now right away I will change my policy. Recently there was a wood flooring damage reported by our renters which happened to be caused due to a burst pipe from the upstairs shower. The claim was handled very professionally by PSIC. Especially, this issue being at my rental property, I needed to address this fast and the responses from Catherine/Jessica were immediate through email and phone calls. The timing couldn’t have been worse and I was under a lot of stress. I made a claim and had received Spencer as my claim adjuster. We had to file a claim for water damage and insurance had approved the contractors to start demolishing flooring and walls everything was great with contractors. They had good communication with accuserve about everything that was being approved just to be told a week later by pacific specialty agent Diana that they would not cover anything. Now we’re stuck with the water damage and demolishing that was done to our laundry room, bathroom and closet with no way of fixing it. Do yourself a favor avoid this company it will save you a lot of headaches

Comment: I am an Independent agent and I write with over 20 different home carriers. PSIC is by far one of my favorite companies to work with in terms of claims, billing, customer service and underwriting. They have their customer service in the United States which is wonderful, you can actually get someone on the phone and they can get something done. Unfortunately, the majority of the people who leave negative reviews dont have a touch on the reality of todays current economy and issues. PSIC is not in control of supply chain, transportation, availability of electrical materials, plumbing materials, building material and labor, just to name a few. These are issues that PSIC has to work with as well as all Insurance providers and customers are just going to have to adjust. PSIC doesnt hire the contractors and skilled labor, they have to wait just like the client does and unfortunately, this is new normal. Be thankful that you can speak with someone in the United States, receive a response in a timely manner and get someone on the phone that is accountable and responsive. While other companies are increasing their rates by 20 - 35%, PSIC is still making homeowners insurance affordable. My Territory Sales Manager, Steve Swanberg is amazing, he responds to my questions almost immediately and he always gets me an answer. I look forward to working with PSIC and watching them grow and offer more products to my clients. My advice to those who are frustrated with their claim, call your agent and get them involved to resolve the issue!

Comment: When my property had water damage, I reached out to Pacific Specialty Insurance, not knowing what to expect. Two agents, Micheall Grogan (desk) and Spencer Sam (field) helped me along the claim process. Although there were intermittent periods when it was hard to reach them, both were very nice and explained the process whenever I had questions. The entire process from the initial visit to getting the checks took about 3 weeks, but I felt that the company treated me fairly, including the final settlement amount that was close to my submitted estimate. Overall highly recommended.

What to expect with Pacific Specialty in SoCal / Orange County?... Let me share with you... Zero call backs, it takes weeks to get a response via email, no proactive leadership, and when you do speak to leadership, you get a condescending tone almost as if youre troubling them by holding them accountable. They will try to force their cost savings specialists into your private residence making you think that is how its done. I had my contractor come in after they attempted to steer me away from choosing my own vendors, he gave an estimate, the adjuster goes around my back to ask the contractor to take items off the list to lower the cost and instead of replacing damaged items, they insisted on refinish or salvage. Pretty sure thats illegal. This is that nightmare company you hear of in stories and movies... welcome to Pacific Specialty. How did any of you get into the service industry is a puzzle to me. She was on top of it and got my claim through in a fair and efficient manner. Whenever I had questions or problems, I emailed her and was responded to immediately. She helped me with the contractors I had chosen and dealt with them. I totally recommend Pacific Specialty and if you get Chelsea Renfree as your adjuster, you will be very lucky.

Comment: My fire sprinkler pipe burst flooding the garage; a plumber cannot fix it, so I was frantic not knowing who to call but finally a friend told me to google fire sprinkler repair so, 4 days after reporting the issue to Pacific Specialty finally I found a company to fix the problem which I paid $1398.00. I was told by Chelsea Renfree that they dont cover broken pipes, I was out of pocket for fixing the problem. Also, she came in very low with the settlement to replace the drywall and get the garage back to normal but fortunately for me she referred me to a company they use, so the contractors estimate was doubled what her original amount, but after my deductible, she issue additional monies so that I can get the job completed by the company she recommended.

They sent us all of our information through a portal that we never had logged in. We don’t know how to use and they canceled our policy due to lack of payment which we didn’t know it needed payment. We only found out because of our mortgage company let us know our insurance was lapsed and we didn’t have any. What happens if something happened to our home? What would happen if God forbid something happened to someone in my home. We would’ve never known we didn’t have insurance as they didn’t send any notice or cancelation and as responsible as we are they tried to blame it that we need to go into our portal. I submitted a water damage claim for my home in August of 2022 “pacific specialty” processed the claim and sent someone to my home to take notes measurements of damaged areas pictures and so on. The person assured me everything was going to be ok and get covered fully. I get a call from “pacific specialty”a few “weeks”) later saying that the way the water damage happened was not covered by my policy. Very upsetting! THEN WHY AM I PAYING FOR HOME INSURANCE IF ITS NOT GANNA COVER ANY DAMAGES!!!!! A few days pass and workers show up at my home randomly around 6pm talking about we are here to do the demo of your damages and set up an irrigation system to dry everything, I then tell them no “pacific specialty called me and said it was denied and had them call “pacific specialty “ the workers come back (WITH E-MAILS SAYING EVERYTHING IS APPROVED!) HE EVEN GOT OVER THE PHONE VERIFICATION!! EVERYTHING! so they do the demo install irrigation system and complete the demo. I don’t hear from “pacific specialty “ on the follow up to fix everything that that got demolished, so I call them… JUST TO FIND OUT THEY DENIED THE CLAIM The adjusters customer service was beyond HORRIBLE as if she hated her job and was mad at the world! rude! Even the sub contracted company said the same thing! So now I’m stuck with a home that got demolished and never fixed!! Going back and forth with “pacific specialty “ I came to the conclusion that they don’t care about there mistakes and how they affect you and your family’s life I HAVE TO LIVE LIKE THIS WITH MY WIFE AND 1 YEAR OLD BABY!!! Now I’m stuck with a demolished home that cost $25K to fix BECAUSE THE DEMOLISHED IT!! To top it off today 07/21/2023 11 MONTHS LATER THE DEMO COMPANY CALLED ME SAYING I OWE THEM $7K FOR THE WORK!!!!IF ANYONE HAS ANY LEGAL ADVICE I WILL VERY MUCH APPRECIATE IT!

Comment: I am very glad to be a Pacific Specialty member. I recently had my first, unexpected water loss and I can not describe the emotion of having to go through this very stressful situation. I filed my claim which was very easy to do in just one phone call and I was also able to do it after hours. I was first contacted by Ericka Pinion my desk adjuster promptly and she was very good at going over the details with me and what to expect. Then my field adjuster, Jessica Hecklinger came out to write their estimate. She showed up on early, she was prepared, looked professional and was very thorough in doing her job. She even took the time to explain why she was there what she was going to be doing, answered my questions and was also very caring and kind. Thank you Ericka and Jessica for everything you do and for making this process an easier transition.

Comment: I been insured with Pacific Specialty ins. A very short time, I moved to my new home 6/2022 and on 8/2022 have a pipe burst, and my kitchen flooded. I called the ins. Co and they guided me, they order water restoration co. And told me if I had a plumber to call him to stop water coming into the kitchen. This was a Friday 8/18/22 night, so I did as instructed, plumber came on and water was stopped. 5 weeks later they refuse to pay the plumber, also an adjuster came in on the following Tuesday and inspected the damage said he would came back after restoration co. completed the drying process. Kitchen cabinets were removed as appliances and most of the floor . We are now on week 5, adjuster came back week 4 with furniture medic and said they would revise estimate . I have talk with the adjuster and email several time, sent all proof and documentation they(she) requested, and still no solution to this claim. This has been the worst experience I ever had, the lack of care is incredible, I tried talking with management with no luck. I would never recommend Pacific Specialty to anyone one, they just want to collect your premium and forget about you. We are seniors with no use is a kitchen now goingOn week 6. Please think twice before you get Pacific Specialty ins.Update : 5/2023Just got a letter from Pacific Specialty, of Non Renewal Notice, what a surprise, but the cancellation according to them is not for water damage, is for fire ( that we vente had ) yes there’s is been fire in Santa Clarita, but we never had a claim.So I’m getting new insurance, so the new co., advice me to send an email to cancel current policy, but the letter has no email adds so I called the number on the letter and once again you just get NO answer, press this # then this # and so on, never spoke to anyone and got no response. I’ve left several voicemails and emails for Kimberly Smith (Inside Property Claims Adjustor) and Rebecca McKenna (Senior Claims Adjustor) that have all gone unanswered. Open a claim and they will ghost you once contractors who’ve worked on your claim submit payment requests to Pacific Specialty. This company should absolutely be ashamed of their lack of service and the way they treat their clients. Once this issue is resolved, I will not continue to do business with this company. The first new system they created last year was so frustrating and slow, and then we had two different systems to use. A new one just went live in order to combine the two, however it doesnt actually work yet! It just directs you to the old systems and adds two extra steps to get anywhere. Why did you go live if it isnt actually ready? Its also annoyingly cutesy, a trend that is shared by other insurance carriers. We dont need things to look cute i need it to WORK.OLD REVIEW: As an insurance agent, the thing I appreciate most about a carrier is their willingness to listen, improve, and make things easier on us. One of Pacific Specialtys clear goals to improve themselves and make sure any issues are resolved. I noted to them in the past we have had processing problems and lengthy response times if we do not follow up, I was contacted by a customer services manager the very next day to further explain the issues me and my team have faced and mitigate them. I sincerely appreciated the direct approach and dedication to service, all their reps are very kind and professional. I am looking forward to the further updates they will be making to their platform, their new system looks so much cleaner and professional. As most of our work is online, a smooth system is vital.

I would call the adjuster to get an update(s) on my case, never could receive a courtesy call, text, or email for that matter. Comment: Anyone with a motorcycle or other insurable vehicle, do not use Pacific Specialty Insurance Company. When my old bike got totaled they continued to charge me Insurance on it for 4 months (even though I repeatedly called and emailed them telling them to stop because I no longer have the bike). They messed up with the vin number on my new bike and the DMV had no record of it being insured so my registration was revoked for it and I had to pay a late fee and go into the DMV to show proof of insurance instead of just paying online. Now when I tried to cancel my insurance renewal because I got tired of them messing up, they charged me anyway for the down payment and renewal fees. I specifically emailed the person back when she emailed me asking if I would like to renew saying that I would not like to renew....yet here we are, money missing from my account anyway. 0/10 I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Comment: Communicative on a claim, but denied on the payout of claim related to tree on the roof. Creating access to the damaged area and a safe work zone is always included in an equipment assisted rooftop tree removal, but they refuse to pay and wont follow customary and standard protocol. We are noting this and doing work for these guys again. Meanwhile the elderly FIXED INCOME homeowner has to pay full cost of tree removal off a roof. every homeowners policy covers windblown hazards on the roof and the pacific manager tells me they wont cover even 20 percent of the bill to remove. Logic and precedent and a hundred other claims didnt sway him so here is his review.

Comment: Let me start by saying, this insurance company will cover under your policy as long as you report your issue the very minute you experience it (like even before you put towels down on your floor due to a water leak) otherwise, theyll say you waited too long to report the issue and therefore it is outside the coverage period. My issue is that the agent we had to work with (Jennifer) was incredibly hard to get a hold of. Wed leave messages and send emails and wouldnt hear back from her until days later. We complained once to her supervisor and then she took our calls but the second issue we encountered was delayed once again and she got snippy with us when we brought up the lack of response on her side. Here is my suggestion to the big Managers at this company, your clients pay for your service, so you should provide it with excellence. When we contact you, it is because we are experiencing a potentially tragic event and are already under a great amount of stress so your agents should try their very hardest to communicate frequently and as honestly up front as possible.

Comment: Would give it negative stars if possible. My mom called last year to file a claim after the wind took off the roof shingle. They sent someone to inspect and were gonna cover the cost. Point being they messed up the check 2 times and it had to be sent back because of possible fraud. It has been over 6 months easily and the rain water came in the house. It was coming out of the walls, the light fixtures, and random places on the ceiling. The beds got wet, tvs, game systems etc. And when she called they said its not their fault and they wont cover any damage. They already admitted it was their fault in messing up the check 2 times and the roof hasnt been able to be fixed. This isnt the first time she called nor the first time water has gone in the house. Wouldnt recommend this insurance company to anyone and would advice anyone to switch insurance companies if possible.

PS got the restoration company and very quickly and safely. Because the wood floor was throughout the first floor, we knew it would be a big project. PS worked with us to reach a fair determination of the damage. We had four different quotes to do the work but decided to wait until it was safer to have people in the house. PS was very understanding and let us decide when we were ready. They processed the claim quickly, provided moving services, temporary housing, and maintained excellent communications. PS changed my opinion about insurance overall. It is a time of high stress for the client, possibly causing injury, and or damage to property. Insurance is there to take care of the financials when the “just in case” actually happens.This is my first accident in over 30 years of driving. I walked away from a motorcycle accident with just minor bruising. I am alive, unscathed.The motorcycle on the other hand sustained structural damage, causing the transmission to break in half, and damage to all ends of the motorcycle. My gear saved me.First thing that Pam said “I am glad you are OK”.I understand very little about how insurance claims are handled so it helped a lot that she was patient with me, empathetic of my worries and concerns. Comment: This insurance company should be not be in business. They really dont care about you, your problem or claim.You cant call them because they dont answer phones, it goes intovoicemail and you just sit and wait until they are good and ready to call you.When they call you, dont expect service from them, of any kind forat least a month, no matter what kind of catastrophe your going through.I had to wait from May thru July for some kind of service action.Do yourself a favor, dont consider Pacific Specialty Insurance or any other product they may have. The aggravation, stress, everyday inconvenience is not an experience anyone should have to go throughI truly dont know how they get away with their tactics.

Comment: PLEASE DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A POLICY, CANCEL IT ASAP!!!!!!I discovered water coming out from under my dishwasher and I reported the water damage on Sept 14th. An inspection was conducted by a Plummer and contractor Initially. I was told there was only a small amount of green mold which suggested new growth. My adjuster Brett Cocanower stated via phone that my water damage was sudden and thus would be covered. A woman came to take pictures to report to Brett the estimated costs, and up until then Brett was still arranging for the repairs, even having a contractor remove my kitchen cabinets. They did further testing for asbestos and even then, Brett stated we were still covered because this was a sudden incident. It turned out one of my sewage pipes was broken, per the plummer. Meanwhile, Brett already had the budget from the adjuster and it took two additional days to get back the results from the asbestos. Even after getting positive results, everything was still in place to get repaired. The asbestos company came to do their estimate and all of a sudden, I get a call from Brett today (9 days later) telling me nothing will be covered. Meanwhile, the mold that was initially green, turned dark and although additional mold was discovered along the wall behind the sink, Brett stated it was not considered a sudden incident. I called the plummer who works with water damage as well, and he also DID NOT think the problem was neglected, nor the mold was old. Per Brett, the mold looked old and he ruled it a neglected problem. I explained to Brett this is the first time we noticed water and no home owner would neglect water coming from underneath their kitchen! Brett gave me an absolute NO, I asked if it was possible to appeal this decision and he stated I already talk to my manager, the decision has been made, nothing will be covered. I begged to talk to someone and he simple said the decision was NO. As a result, they left my kitchen destroyed since they removed all of the cabinets to assess the wall, and will not put anything back. All because it was too expensive for them to pay for the asbestos removal. This company will only take your money, unfortunately I know three more individuals with similar stories where this company did not cover their claims. Yet theyre quick to take your money. PLEASE DO NOT BUY ANY POLICY WITH THEM!!!!

Comment: In 2019, this company came to my home and inspected my roof unbeknownst to me. I received a notice that I needed to get a new roof or they were going to cancel my insurance. In 2020, I got a new roof by a licensed contractor and submitted pictures, invoice, signed permit from my city, but they won’t accept it. So, they can come and see my new roof, same way they came and saw that I needed a new roof. They are also a much higher cost than other homeowner’s insurance companies. I definitely don’t recommend them and they probably should not be in the business they are in.

Comment: They seem okay but I go to pay my monthly premium on the beginning of the month and the web site does not allow me to. Filled a claim earlier this year and seemed to take them longer than others to satisfy the claim. I will say I find their rates pretty good however. Small company feel.

Comment: Last year I received a notice that they needed pictures of my roof and also copy of roof contractor invoice. Those were sent in and then they said they didn’t receive the pictures. My roof work was done in 2018. Now it’s time for renewal and I get the same request. It’s either harassment or incompetence by this company. Maybe because I live in a high desert rural community they don’t want to insure me. I am going to seek quotes from other companies.

Comment: The wait time to speak to one of their representatives is 2-3 hours. I had one of their representatives tell me that, its normal wait time. Avoid using this company....and if you do use it make sure they are your LAST resort.

Comment: Beware of Goosehead Insurance in Fontana. I spoke with them about coverage for lost food in fridge and my agent said his family was up on Saturday and everything on the mountain was normal. He told me he had not heard of anything going on up in mountain. He said he thought it was just a scheduled outage. Thousands without power for 5 days. Hundreds of miles of power lines down. Nights as cold as 46 degrees in our house for 5 days. I bet thus guy has an awesome rating for not giving out claims. Just tell policy holders you did not know anything happened and were unaware. Needless to say we will be looking for a new homeowners insurance. Note this guy is a rep for Pacific Specialty. Pacific Specialty needs to review who the let represent them. i will be reaching out to them as well.

Their rates are reasonable, their coverage is outstanding, and if they cant give you all the coverage you need they will find someone to partner with them to get it to you.I would not used anyone else!

Comment: They canceled my insurance due to non-payment WHILE THEY drafted my bank account for the payment. They didnt even have the courtesy to let me know. When confronted, they said it was due to a computer glitch. No insurance provided but they kept the money!!!!! They claim to have sent the payment that never arrived, claimed to have sent 4 notices that never arrived. They do nothing but lie, lie, lie. Everyone I talked to told a different lie. They have good rates for a reason! They stole my money!!!!!
