I’ve ordered more times than I’d like to admit during the pandemic thru Door Dash. I typically order the Pancho Special which was A-MAZING but as of recently, I’ve noticed it’s no longer on the DD menu. I’m hoping it’s just a glitch and not discontinued 🤞🏼. Another staple is the quesadillas. Always super fresh, nice portions and they’re super accommodating w special requests (which is rare gesture at most places during the pandemic). The only thing Im sometimes missing is a few chips. I wished they had an option for a small portion of chips w dinners w/o having to buy a whole bag as well as being able to order items À la cart so I can try new items w/o committing to a whole dinner . Having said that, a lot of restaurants like to fill you w chips so they can skimp on the actual meal and PV definitely doesn’t skimp! They really do give you a nice size meal w plenty of beans and rice too. I really appreciate how hard they work and the pride and care they take in their food.
Just ordered for the first time from Pancho Villas and really enjoyed it. The Taco Salad was delicious with lots of shredded chicken and plenty of veggies, My wife had a combo plate with a Burrito, Tostada, and Enchilada and was impressed with the bold flavors and large portions. Prices are fair, and delivery was prompt, as well as everything that we ordered showed up. My only disappointment was that you are not making your desserts right now cause we were really looking forward to the Sopapillas, maybe next time, we will definitely order from your fine restaurant again.
I never do reviews.. Id just like to mention the food tasted good, decent enough, it just didnt look impressive. I got the chimichangas and its supposed to be topped with tomato, green pepper and tomato. There were 3 olives and like 5 small pieces of diced tomato and I could hardly see the green pepper. The guac was brown due to the air. It seemed like they were really skimping on the toppings to save money. Also the place looked like it was going out of business inside, chairs up on the tables- as they only do carry out currently which has to be hurting business. I just feel bad for the restaurant industry as a whole.
We got the beef Enchiladas which are my all time favorite. They did not disappoint. The cheese fondue was also excellent. When one of the dinners was not quite what the person expected, they made another meal, without a fuss, and they were very cordial about it. Great customer service! We have been coming here for years, and will continue to do so. Sangria was great as was the Tequila Sunrise.
Not bad. We went there like 6 years ago and it wasnt great. Forgot wed gone and checked it out again and it was way better. Margarita was not strong enough but food was overall fairly good. Flaming fajitas were super cool to see. Guacamole tasted old but was green so idk the deal with that. Lots of food for the price. Extra star only bc it was better than most of the awful Tex Mex places weve been to in Troy. Authentic Mexican places in the area are so much better.
First time here, was seated promptly. Waitress came so fast that we didnt even have time to sit down. She spoke do softly that I had to keep asking her to repeat herself. Quite an extensive menu, my shrimp ranchero was good but girlfriends chicken was bland.had to ask for everything. Waitress wasnt very good. Will probably not go back.
The food was good, and wait staff was very friendly. However, the beer my husband was served had expired in 03/2018. His replacement beer (different brand this time) was also expired! Not nearly as old, but still!?! We were given apologies and not charged for the expired beers.
The food is good but getting a correct order is not possible! Every time weve ordered there is always something wrong. Im looking at the smallest amount of cheese on my beans thats supposed to cover the rice too. Its not hard to get it right its just laziness and a lack of pride in what you do. Im not spending my money here anymore.
Delicious food and fast, friendly service. Prices more than fair. I wasnt brave enough to try the super burrito challenge. They have decent lunch specials, but you can never go wrong with the burrito dinner. Only thing I would change is the lighting. It was a little too dark for my taste.
Pancho Villas has been a staple in the area for as long as I can remember. Used to come here frequently as a kid and have recently been back as an adult. Everything was as I remembered it and just as good. Their deep friend tacos with shredded beef are my absolute favorite. Glad to see that they are still around.
Lunch approximately $8.50 for two item with lo mein and a drink. Noodles tasted not so great to me, chicken and sweet sour pork wasnt too bad. I have been here about 5 times. Very filling and has a variety to choose from. Arrive early because when lunch time ends at 2:30 the food looks like it has sat around for too long
Our waitress was amazing but was continually screwed by her kitchen staff. She took back my order 3 times because she wanted my to enjoy my visit not because I asked her to. I could hear her instructions to the kitchen and then I would end up with something other than what I ordered and she requested. That place has been pretty hit or miss over the last year and Im not sure Ill go back any time soon.
Pancho Villas is a cozy Mexican restaurant with great food and friendly, efficient servers. The decor and music seem to be authentic as well. We went mid day, after lunchtime and it was moderatelyv busy. The burritos were superb as were the rice and beans that accompanied them. I highly recommend Pancho Villas.
My husband and I have been coming here for 15+ years and it has slowly declined in quality and service over the last 3 years or so. Today Mom and I went for a quick lunch. 15 minutes after ordering I was told my super taco could not be hard shell corn so I asked for bean enchiladas instead, specifically stating I am vegetarian. After another 15 minutes order still had not arrived. We were on a time constraint so I asked for it to go. Got home with our meal an hour after arriving at the restaurant and my enchiladas were BEEF. There was no apology after the wrong order and they even wanted the incorrect food returned (which I believe is a health department violation)..... not that I wanted it. Such a disappointing experience and for sure the last time I will come here. Happy there is a ElCharro close by! (and I am aware they cook the rice in Chicken broth, i just dont eat it.)
I took the family last night. 5 of us total. Waitress was good. My teenage daughter and I split the fajita for two. Was disappointed that there was hardly any meat. After two fajitas, all we had was a large plate of peppers and onions. My wife and I each had a drink, and bill was almost 100 (including tip) I remember going there when I was younger (and lived on that side of town) this placed has changed. Value is not there anymore.
Banana is a horrible waitress. Never received a refill on my water. She didnt clear away dishes as they were no longer needed. The table was a mess. 4 tables occupied and they have to seat every one on top of each other....couldnt even have a conservation with my lunch date. Poor service would of been acceptable if the food was decent and I could have a conversation.
We have tried a lot of Mexican restaurants in Michigan looking for great food like our favorite Mexican restaurant in Texas. We tried Pancho Villas on a whim tonight and we were more than pleasantly surprised. Theyre Chimichongas are amazing, better than our restaurant in Texas. On top of that the service was phenominal. They actually went to the store to go get chocolate milk for my kids. We highly recommend this place and is our new favorite Mexican restaurant. Also, the prices are reasonable.
The food was not bad, but nothing special. My quesadillas didnt look like quesadillas, however - they looked like tacos, but whatever, they were fine. A member of my party ordered something supposedly mild that came very very spicy instead. You really gotta warn people about the spicy, man! Not just here but everywhere. Some people cant eat spicy food at all. The place was not very busy at about 5:30-ish on a Monday, but the service was pretty slow - there were only 2 waitresses on duty and there was a help wanted sign in the window. Our waitress was very nice and trying really hard but she was quite obviously HARRIED.
How the heck do you not ask people why they didnt eat their food. Plain out said I didnt like my dinner. I took two bites. Was never asked why or would you like something else. Ordered an appetizer and it said it came with tortillas. Never once did he say it was extra. Could of said something and it wouldnt have been a big deal. So then they tell me they voided the entire order off my card yet couldnt provide me with the voided receipt everyone is entitled to a voided receipt and proof it was taken off my card. I called the bank while I was standing there and it was not cancelled. I would give this place no stars if I could. He couldnt even tell me when the manager would arrive. You might want to hire staff that is capable of running the machines. I just wanted proof it was cancelled. Instead he felt the need to continue walking past me ignoring me. You guys made the mistake not me. I will never return. Mainly be cause of the staff.
When I cant make it to my favorite Original Pancake House in Birmingham...and I am the other side of town... The Pantry prepares a lineup if delicious breakfast fare exactly the same way! Amazing but true. And reasobably priced. Not a fancy place, but the coffee is delicious and service is friendly. They have lunch fare as well...always a plus.
The food is by far authentic. My girl had enchiladas and they really gave her chili with it? I got fajita for 2 for her son and myself... WHERES THE BEEF? They gave me 10 pounds of veg, and slivers of the steak and chicken.. f ing rip off... never going back... I knew there was a reason why Ive only been here 2 other times in 20 years..
Looking at it from the outside you wouldnt imagine that they have the best authentic mexican food. Rancheros and chimichangas are SUPERB! Portions are huge, food taste great. Prices are cheap. They keep the chips and salsa coming. The kids like the fish tank. Staff is nice, the service is usually pretty good. This is our go to spot for mexican. They have a decent kids menu & my kids ask for it all the time.
I ordered a bean tostada for take out. It was to come with beans and rice. When I picked up my order there were two containers. I figured one would be the beans and rice and the other the tostada. When I arrived home the tostada was basically bare. The container had a mountain of beans and no rice. I basically had to create my own tostada. When I called the store to complain, whomever answered the phone was nonchalant and wanted to know if I still had the food to bring it back. There was no mention of a refund or an apology. Poor customer service. A little courtesy goes a long way. It appears they are only getting good reviews from Local Guides and not from real customers like me. Well they lost this dedicated customer. Qdoba is better than this place and has been my new Mexican food place.
Great Food & Service & an Excellent Mango Margarita (which we split). They immediately come to your table with chips & thick salsa, (not too chunky & very little cilantro - which is the way I Luv it!). I had the shredded marinated chicken wet burrito, (large & kinda square shaped), that came with tasty refried beans & rice & covered with a brown chile sauce & melted cheese. VERY Excellent!! That provided 2 meals for me! My wife had the Trio dinner which you pick 3 things you want. She had a chicken enchilada, a beef enchilada, and a shedded chicken burrito - which also came with refried beans & rice. She Luved it and it also was enough for 2 meals for her. We had extra chips & salsa & both ordered the extra guacamole - which was Great. Our bill was about $31-32 dollars & we WILL be back!!
The decor is gorgeous, but if you plan to eat (or drink), go somewhere else. My better half and I stopped in for dinner because our favorite Mexican place shut down (Guelaguetza in Eastpointe. It was well worth the drive! Great, now Im sad :/ ) and I ordered chicken flautas (my fave), he ordered a giant burrito. Oh, they charge extra for guacamole, onions, and lettuce... Frigging lettuce. I ordered coffee to drink, he had water.OK, let me back the truck up - We sat there awhile (we were one of three tables occupied in the whole place. It was a Friday evening, and they were pretty dead), and someone finally came to take our drink orders. Again, coffee and water. The girl was friendly, but brought stone cold coffee. Some time later, another waitress came to take our drink order, and we told her someone had already done that. She went on to yell at the girl for taking her table. That was lovely to watch.I very politely told the girl my coffee was cold, and she said shed make another pot. She came back with another cup, and told me someone had forgotten to leave the burner on. Welp, she mustve thrown my original cup in the microwave, because it tasted like it could walk by itself. I know what fresh coffee tastes like. This wasnt it.They food was just like it is at any other authentic Mexican restaurant. Nothing to rave about, though.I may seem petty, talking so much about a cup of coffee, but for Petes sake, it was disgusting, and since Im limited to what Im able to drink at restaurants (because of a health issue... Not difficult to guess. Hint: I wear an insulin pump), its important to me.
I cant knock the food, however the service is another story. The latest bad service took the cake. After ordering our meal the manager refused the order, and said we had to reorder. Duh, thats the same meal weve ordered for about 8-9 years. Arggg we are Not doing back.
I give this place a 1 star because 0 stars does not seem to be an option. We had to request for fresh chips because the things we were served were not even under a heat lamp, and it was noticed immediately. The salsa needed anything other than black pepper for heat, and about everything lacked cilantro. We ordered the Fajita Trio for 2, more like the tomato platter with a side of meat snacks. In addition, the whole thing was flamed which means they pour a ring of liquor around the dish and set it aflame, where they most (Un)enthusiastically say olay; the sizzle of the dish was more exciting than its presentation. Not only was the presentation disappointing, but the dish its self was no better. With a mountain of tomatoes, a couple bell peppers, and some onions, this dish was 70% vegetables. Not to include that there was no meat on the platter larger than my thumb. But the thing that really ruined this scarring experience was the liquor they pour on the dish, IT RUINED ANY FLAVOR IN ALL OF THE MEAT, everything had this very overpowering brandy flavor to it.The tortillas were hard and cracked, not fresh at all, the best part of this dish was the beans. In conclusion, we were deciding between this and azteca neither of which we have been to, and we have come to the conclusion that azteca is much better simply because, It would be hard to do worse than this.0 of 5 starsDo Not Recommend
Ive been going here since I was young, when they first opened up. The expansion of the business, the expansion of the building itself, the change of ownership, etc. I moved out of state and still visited regularly. This Mexican restaurant is the one my family measures all others against.
Pancho Villas and Qdoba are the only Mexican cuisine that metro-Detroiters need (unless theyre in Mexican Village) when its time for their fix. PVs got it all covered: the food, drinks and service are all stellar. The full line of Traditional plates are offered, as well as plenty of house specialties. A wide selection of beers and mixed drinks (including frozen Margaritas of generous size) are served-up from a stand-alone bar. The atmosphere is cozy, while remaining family friendly. Those dining alone, with a significant other or in a larger party all coexist comfortably here.If youre on a lunch break or dinners not the evenings main event, you can be in-and-out of PVs in well-under an hour. Otherwise, if you want to linger and enjoy a few drinks, wait-staff are always attentive, yet unobtrusive. Parking is free, plentiful and just steps-away.Pancho Villas is really a local gem, almost hidden amongst its unlikely surroundings. Yet, it thrives here in perhaps the nicest strip-retail/service development in the Little Baghdad-section of the Its a Small World-community THAT IS Western Sterling Heights. The long-tenured patrons of PVs are legion in-number.There is today, precious-little variety among local dining establishments. Unless one is in the mood for a fresh fattoush, a chicken shawarma or some pita and tabouli, Pancho Villas is among the very few alternatives. And as such, it remains a welcoming redoubt for the many who fondly remember a different landscape of dining options in their hood.
Great place, one of the best Mexican restaurants around, great selections on wide variety of Mexican favorites, great service, friendly staff, great beverage selections, prices, free parking, handicap parking, would highly recommend coming here for dinner, lunch, with a date, friends, family
Overall food was pretty okay, service was good, atmosphere was a little bit to quite, would have liked if it was a bit more up beat.... Also no liquor license at the time so no possibility of ordering drinks.. Kind of a letdownOn a side note when we were there, the cops were called on a table in the restaurant and that just killed the mood of the whole night for the entire place.... fyi
They were once great absolutely suck now tryed 2 or 3 time to make sure i loved this place but its garbage now everything is pre made made I think because its cold dont go there they will be out of business soonTried again food is freezing cold not in microwave long enough I guess🙁
This is the worst Mexican food Ive ever had I eat Mexican food quite often a lot of different Mexican restaurants they have no salsa their salsa taste like ketchup in a bowl or pizza sauce in a bowl the service wasnt that bad she never really checked on us and the mole a taste like nothing Ive ever had before the flautas were not good either for some reason they put cheese on them and put them in the microwave so it made them crispy soggy and everything tastes like oil very dissatisfied will never return.

2022-04-10The dining room is open on Fri, Sat and Sun now. It was as delicious as I remembered it. You have to go up to the counter and order your dinner and they bring it to the table - but that doesnt make it any less enjoyable. The food was piping hot, chips and salsa are complimentary, and the service was very good.

2022-05-15Our first time eating here and we definitely made the right choice. The food was tasty and prices were fair. Well be back soon and often.

2022-07-17Id honestly give them less than 1 star. Where do I begin...Well, EVERYTHING was cold. The salsa had HUGE chunks of tomato that took up half the value of the cups. The drinks were watered down and served in filthy glasses. (I got brain freeze before I caught a buzz). The Brandy that was poured over the Flaming fajita altered the taste in a way that resembled kettle corn. The decor was DATED AND DIRTY. The method of ordering and paying seemed odd at first but now Im certain that it was to secure payment before serving subpar food and service

2022-04-30Its been over a year since my last visit and the customer service has declined. I phoned in my order and the girl was so short and rude from the start. The food is good. enough, but I cannot pay people to bite my head off just because I choose to solicit their business. Im done!

2022-04-01Drove 40 miles because of the super burrito and its on menu but not available, and this place went downhill. Pops are bottled not fountain. I do not recomennd this place at all. No wonder the one in dearborn went out of business years ago. There is a lot of better places to go to and better priced.

2022-06-24Worst Mexican food I have ever had. You have to go to the take out to order your own food to eat at the table. I do not recommend this place.

2022-06-19This was not the experience I was hoping for. I was hoping for authentic tacos, every review said how authentic this place was amd its not....at all....they give you Marinara sauce instead of salsa and the tacso shells were just basic store bought shells

2019-03-04Great food! And Im a mexican food enthusiast. Lol. Only 4 stars because our waiter was completely lost. He struggled with only 3 tables. I rip on him because we were starving and he waited on people who came in after us. Hopefully they fix that guy so you dont have to experience that too. Oh yeah, we split the 8lb burrito and took leftovers home and ate it for 3 days.
