The students and staff are very professional. It’s a few quirks but that’s expected anywhere. I’m happy with the choice I made for school.Update: do not recommend it’s a circus if there is any other school to go to go there. There’s never anything for the students to use. When we speak up for ourselves there’s always problems. But for the amount of money I paid I like to ask questions. This trouble is not worth it.
I’ve been coming to here for years and the staff now are very professional and take extra care of each client. The front desk staff and teachers make each experience effortless. Today I was assigned to a student name Kaitlyn she did an excellent job washing, trimming and lifting my hair color. Kaitlyn was polite, answer all my questions and and styled my hair so pretty . She got me right !!!!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I loveeeeee this school. I have learned so much in the few weeks I’ve been here, I definitely see improvement in my work. The instructors are the best because they take the time out to actually help you in places that you are having problems in, professionally and personally. It feels like a family. Highly recommended 😁
I just started the cosmetology course and Ive learned a lot about myself and servicing others. If youre a client at P and A you come FIRST. Students are taught that clients are most important and that professionalism is a must. Students will be very pleased they attended this program!
This by far is the worst school to go to I urge you to read the reviews this school has so many complaints on them, that its not even funny I went here this past year and I regret every moment of it. The only reason why they are still in business because they trick people into doing financial aid, that is not necessary they only keep you around for the money they pocket half of it they dont teach you anything they are overcrowded classrooms, just to make money to not have supplies for anything that you need whether you are a nail tech or a cosmetology student. The owner of this business its a bunch of BS right down to the financial aid officers along with the instructors. If you think I am writing this just because I dont like the school, then please read everyone review and you will see there is a consistency in what everyone is saying I ordered you to go somewhere else if you dont have the money and you want to do financial aid I beg of you to try another school and to work something out with them cuz this is not worth your time or your money at the end of the day you will have to pay back over $9,000 for a course that was not even worth $1000 its other schools out here that are cheaper and will teach you the tools that you need to become a nail technician
Just wanted to let the staff know how much I appreciate working with you all. We all work very hard and go the extra mile everyday to make sure the job gets done. The instructors skills, training and performance in the classroom has taken our school to the next level. The surveys from the students rates you all “Outstanding and well knowledgeable “ which indeed is gold star for you all.The exceptional effort the enrollment team put in these past months is less of extraordinary. You all have exhibited an outstanding performance getting students enrolled in our school throughout the year. Kudos to you all for a job well done. When I walk into the school and hear from out students, Staff and clients how thankful they are to be apart of the P &A Family it’s reinsurance that we are doing great work. The Culture and teamwork only confirms that we are above the rest. The Camaraderie among the owners is something you don’t get at most work places and I appreciate them for their compassion and the love they have for the our students and our staff. So, this review is an opportunity to let the viewers know how honor I am to be working for and with these awesome People and how dedicated we all are at P&A Scholars Beauty School and we will continue to deliver to you world class services .Keep up the Good work Staff !!Again, I can’t stress how much I appreciate working with you all. Let’s make next year even better.Ms. Monyell Paige
I started school in 2006 and graduated in 2008.The owner was the BEST‼️I was able to get my cosmetology license and with that help of Ann Jackson I even started my own hair salon and been in business for 11 years and going .I enjoyed my time here at this school I wouldn’t change my experience at all. I still go back to P&A to this day for more knowledge . the owner care about your success💯
Our financial adviser Mrs.Lisa Smith is amazing, she goes out her way to do whatever she can for students. She is a great mentor and adviser. Her warm heart for what she does brightness the school. As for P&A as a hold its a very great school to come to, awesome owners, and great role models!
My name is Deanna, I came to P&A Scholars to get my hair and makeup done. I have come to this school for many years and I always love the way they do my hair and my makeup. The student that did my hair was very professional and the instructors are professional and knowledgeable and always help if the student needs assistance. I had my nails done by the nail techs today too and i love the way they did them. With the careful attention they gave me, I feel like a movie star today. My daughter comes on saturdays too. We will continue to come back forever. I Really Love this place a lot!
I went to get my hair shampooed, conditioned and braided to be under my wig, a full set, and pedicure. I absolutely enjoyed my visit! I felt pampered and cared for and everyone was so nice! Everything came out wonderful! The prices are the icing on the cake but the services provided and the wonderful staff are the cake!
I am currently a student at P and A Scholars under the leadership of Mrs. Fatimah. She is an amazing teacher who truly cares about her students. She will push you and give you the guidance you need rather it be in regards to school or personal. Her lectures stick. Pay attention to them as so much knowledge is given. Fly with it and you will not fall.I would recommend taking Mrs. Fatimah. I now consider her my mentor.
I took my Wife there and got her Hair and Nails done. The Students were awesome and My Wife Hair and Nails looks Fabulous. Very nice upscale environment...The Staff gave Great Customer Service and I would highly recommend this Beauty School. Also it was very affordable You cant beat the price...
From a former student of the Ann Arbor location to being serviced at the Detroit location, I love this school!! Ms. Lisa Smith is an awesome administrator and person overall! Any problem you have visit Ms. Lisa and its sure to be resolved! I would recommend scholars to anyone wanting to get their cosmetology license!
Since starting school at P&A scholars ( cosmetology program ) I learned a lot from my instructor Mrs. Aquila. She make sure you know the book and will help you on your practical over and over until you get it. I enjoy coming to this school and learning new techniques from my peers.
My experience here at P&A has been a tremendous part of my journey. I don’t even know where to began I’ve learned so much going here, but overall I can say this school has taught me to be optimistic about my dreams and goals. I’ve learned once you set your goal, everything you do everyday is to reach that goal and be confident about it. This school pushed me to be to be who I wanna be and more and consider me as family. ❤️ my P and A family😘
I’m currently an active student at P&A scholars class of 2021!! I’m so excited it has been an amazing experience!! I must give a Big Thanks to Lisa Smith P&A scholars financial aide advisers for making it her business to reassure me that I could and would be a productive student. Now I’m finally leaving my dream. If ur looking for a cosmetology School P&A Scholars is the school for you.
This is the only place I go now that I am full natural. I HOPE natural hair care is in the lesson plan, but every time I go to get my hair done, they know how to do NATURAL HAIR. They use the comb chase method, single passes with the flat iron and deep conditioner under the dryer. Something I ever see at the shops. The Young lady used trader joes and organic and other natural products on my hair too. I love this school. They are professional even tho it can get really relaxed and when its busy, you are going to wait. Not every student is an expert. But not every professional stylist is either. Ive been happier at this beauty school than professional shops. I highly recommend!!!
Very unprofessional. I attended P&A about 2 years ago and I hated it! There were problems from the day i signed up. The classes were held in a bldg that had more issues than vogue..... the bathroom doors barely closed. The heat was out!! And in ive dressed off winter!! Then the first days of class....we had NO TEACHER! Smh. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!
I really fell in love with P and A and staff. I met some wonderfull people threw this school. Your are treated like family at this school. Miss Jackson is consistantly and passionately encourageing all the student at P and A. You are a person. A valuable member of a bigger picture. I was a student here and i loved every moment of it. The enviornment was so relaxed and the clients were so thankfull when any of us done their hair. The faculty and staff literally care and give ur the tools to achieve success as well as the emotional support from a lot of strong women at P and A. This school works with you. Pushes you do be and want better. I love thos school and would highly recommend this school to anyone. There was never a dull moment. So much love, life, encouragement. Love u my P and A family. 💋💯
My first experience, and on a Friday evening, staff did everything to get my daughter and I in for service. All we were in need of was clean hair, but we not only received THAT, but much more; friendly and professional staff! This was the best inexpensive, mommy-daughter bonding and experience ever! Thanks P&A Scholars;-)
Keniara and Ms. Trina! Resurrected this snow white. Brought her back to her fancy ways. Left P&A slayed! Got exactly what I dreamt. And this was my first time visit. Very happy with my hair. From the front desk till I left, professional. Point, blank, period! Clean and neat. Highly recommend you to have your own experience. Thanks! PS, my two daughters cant wait until you see them. Smooches
P&A is an excellent learning environment. They are very hands on as well as book work. For example, Ms.Amber had her students take notes, show what they could do well, and showed them how to do certain things. Everyone has an shop based experience while learning her to perfect their skills.
Miss pearline is highly unprofessional. The walk in service is unprofessional. Answering the business line while taking personal phone calls. To hanging up in my face. The other manager yelling and unprofessional like behavior. The lack of student support. I wont be back and hope they consider changing the structure.
School is awesome, Very professional & organized. Im a current student here and i love it they teach you everything you need to know and have great instructors. i would recommend this school for future references for anyone who wants to attend you will not regret it !!!!!
I decided I’m leaving panda scholars beauty school with 150 hours to go. Some would say I’m crazy and i should stick it out but i can’t take it. I started school in 2015 excited about my new journey. Little did i know my dreams would be turned into nightmares. The first red flag i ignored was the handling of my financial aid. To this day my FASFA has not been processed. I did everything my financial advisor ask me to do, and it’s still not done. I even called FASFA direct, and they told me “everything is done on your end we’re just waiting on your school” I’ve asked about it serval times and nothing has been done. SECONDLY, there is no curriculum being taught there. After 350 hours in the class room you move onto the clinic floor. Your suppose to learn more and get more hands on. However the only thing i did on the floor was clients!! Not one lesson was taught, didn’t take one test, or studying. They also offered services like sew in/braids. I was told by a real professional that were not suppose to do those things(not sure if that’s true) so now i feel like i worked in a sweat shop literally because there’s no air. THIRDLY, the lack of equipment and products we needed for hair styling. They would tell us to use our own products. Like hair glue, oils, edge control etc. oh and how could i forget how long it takes to receive your cosmetology book and hair kit. I even heard a student say she didn’t have a uniform and she’s been there for two months. LASTLY,the PROFESSIONALISM !!!!! First and foremost they have unlicensed/unexperienced students working their front desk. They handle current student hours. Just recently i was missing 80 hours and i had to ask not ONCE, not TWICE, not THREE times but serval times for the sign in sheet to prove i was missing hours. Just a few weeks ago we had no instructions on the floor or in the building ( NOTHING BUT STUDENTS) but we were still taking clients. If that’s not a lawsuit waiting to happen 🤦🏽♀️ but hey that’s another day at panda. I asked a “corporate” employee for a update on my hours, she said she needed a minute. Ok no problem, after five minutes i noticed the light in her office was off. It’s two exits in her office. Do you know this lady tried to sneak out the back without speaking to me!!!! When i caught her trying to make her great escape she said “i have to feed her” pointing to her daughter, making that her excuse for sneaking out like a coward instead of saying she didn’t have time. That same lady made a Saturday appointment with me to go over my hours. When i arrived and asked for her i was told “she doesn’t work Saturdays” but she made an appointment for Saturday so I’m confused. I saw her a few days ago and she didn’t even speak to me, just a complete joke! Every time someone asks me “what school you go to”? I replay panda. Their faces turn upside down and they tell me the horrible stories they’ve heard or gone thru themselves. It’s sooooo soooo sooo much more I’m not mentioning, these are just the highlights. I’m so mad i waited this long to quit!!! I should have listened to other people and the little voice deep down inside screaming GET OUT!!!!! I wasn’t the best student but i deserve wayyyyyyyy more than this. That’s why i don’t mind starting over, so i can get the education i desire and deserve 👏🏼
This is by far the WORST beauty school to attend for cosmetology they just want your money they have false advertisement on the website you don’t learn anything they have in the student handbook they have your fellow class mates teach you DONT WAISTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY students rarely finish their course and graduate from here I’m a previous student so take it from me‼️‼️
I wish I could give less than this one star. I am a current student of their cosmetology program and my soul is telling me to RUN. This school is so very unprofessional and incompetent. Trying to transfer is a hassle because other schools don’t even want to take their hours so now I feel trapped. There have been many instances of lost hours and instructors telling me they “found extra hours” for me, when I haven’t been there any extra time. I’ve seen roaches while being here. I literally spend most of my days at P & A sitting on my phone because there’s not instruction going on, just babysitting. I originally started and agreed to come Monday thru Friday 5-10 as it fit into my already busy schedule and they changed the schedule for my program before I even got to 250 hours, requiring all of my classmates to begin coming in Tuesday’s thru Saturdays. I refused because THAT IS NOT WHAT I SIGNED AND AGREED TO. I literally feel like they just want $ and I’m trapped by my being naive. When I came to meet the admissions office, I should’ve known then it’d be a disaster. While I met with the counselor, loud students were busting in the office interrupting our meeting, she’d tell me she was gonna email something to me and I’d have to chase her down to get a reply. I had been told that included in the curriculum there’s an annual field trip to BRONNER BRO which I later found out was a lie and the trip was through a third party, which they didn’t even tell us about details until after the event had already passed. It’s just so all over the place! All the students hate the school.then, plenty of people didn’t have uniforms for a long time. They give you your kit in pieces, and it’s everything you can get at the local beauty supply store. THIS SCHOOL IS TRASH. I tried to support my own people but this is ridiculous. I’m transferring period!!!!!
I was overcharged and told incorrect information and I’ve tried resolving this situation for over 5 years and can never get anyone of importance on the phone much less to actually return a phone call....I’ve contacted the better business bureau and next step is a lawyer....if you don’t want to be overcharged for miscommunication choose a different school
This school will steal money. They will continue to accept financial aid on your behalf even after you have left this school. I went for a total of 1 day and decided against it , and they accepted pell grants and loans they never sent back. finally after months of calling lisa Smith in the financial aid department, they send the loans back and steal keep the pell. I spoke with Lisa this Morning and she of course still has sent me no transcripts or explanation for why she feels this school is entitled to the funds????? Fraud. I dont want any body else to have to experience this.
I met PSA scholars..thru an NAACP sponsorship which paid the cost of the women in drug treatment (Genesis House 3)...they got us Beautiful for the WOMEN IN WHITE EVENT AT COBO HALL..THEY were actually well organized and took great care of all patronsPeaceful pandemonium!I cant wait to apply here!
PNA SCHOLOR IS BY FAR ONE OF THE MOST UNPROFFESSIONAL “BEAUTY SCHOOLS” located in the city of Detroit do not I repeat do not send your child here. They will not teach your child they take your money they give hours to their favorite even when that student isn’t even there. They have some of the worst instructors by far if I could give a half star I wouldn’t and the only reason they got a whole star was because they were on the internet
I had the best teacher her name was amber she was loving caring an very teachable I was there for a week my first week An I learned so much she keep wanting to come to school more she teaches a lot an go on the paste that’s needed I will always member my teacher Amber
I love the people here well at lease the ones that I attended school with the teaches are wonderful exspecally mr G his was of teaching is outstanding but I had my ups and down at this school but it turned out for the better class of 2018 whoop whoop Love you miss Anna
THE WORST SCHOOL EVER!!! SO UNPROFESSIONAL THEY LOSE YOUR HOURS. THEY STEAL YOUR FINANCIAL AID REFUND CHECKS AND MAKE P&A CHECKS! THE SCHOOL IS DIRTY NO PROPER VENTILATION THE BUILDING IS FALLING APART. THEY DONT TEACH NOTHING. THEY LIE TO YOU ABOUT YOUR DEEP CONDITION TREATMENT THEY LIE YOU ABOUT THE HAIR COLOR YOU CHOSE. IM GLAD I DONT GO THERE NO MORE. TRUST AND BELIEVE YALL GETTING REPORTED IN EVERYYY AREA.
Worst place to get your nails done went there yesterday and nails are lifting the girl was about to graduate and didn’t know how to do anything she took 4 hours for nothing the teacher isn’t teaching them anything the girl didn’t even know how to do acrylic how can you give someone their certification that doesn’t know how to do anything Can’t blame the girl got to blame the teacher that supposed to be working with Her hands on

2022-06-16Why is it that I haven’t been to this place in the past 3 or 4 years. I used to go there since about 2009 and nothing is changed students are real nice but the instructors don’t care! they don’t have supplies for the students to do the customers nails or hair right! they don’t teach their students how to do nails at all right and I was instructed by a teacher or instructor to go to Google and report them for this!! ( I wanna have someone who will throw my company under the bus working for me if they can’t help me fix it ) I try to handle it professionally and she didn’t wanna take my complaint and was ignored. I feel sad for whoever waste their money at the school weather there a student or a client!!!!! Also I would like to thank the two young ladies who try their best to have my nails done properly, even though they didn’t have the proper tools or wasn’t taught properly. their attitude and professionalism was very nice, and I will give those young ways my business anytime but not that school!!!!!

2022-04-02I attend P&A scholars Beauty school currently. I had to take a leave if Absence previously, and when I returned everyone was just as welcoming and inclusive. I knew from the beginning that I would be able to succeed here, because the instructors are nice, they hold me accountable, and provide resources and support to succeed! I’m grateful to be apart of this community!

2022-07-03Students here can’t even comb hair properly ripping strands out with each stroke. I give up on this place. After being the second client on the list and waiting 3 hours the “stylist” wearing a synthetic wig and dark sunglasses called herself requesting to charge me an extra fees. So if I really did not have the “extra cash” on hand then I would have been out of luck because this place only accepts cash. My hair is easily manageable not that long and with any style detangling comes with it. All I wanted was a wrap and trim.Just her overall unprofessionalism and the way she tried to add on extra fees is the reason I will never come back. Oh and I hated my hair. She cut way more than what was necessary and I left with no style just flat plain looking hair. She didn’t even bother to turn me around to the front and see what it looks like.
