I had Frye leather boots that had separated leather soles and expected that they would stitch them together as it had been done originally. Instead, they were glued together, and when I brought them back, he didn’t think he did anything wrong despite being able to pull the bottom sole down to show the gummy separation. He didn’t offer to fix it after paying something like $40 for a terrible job. Never will I go back there.
Some of these reviews state that the lady who is the owner is very nice at ALL... true story! She was rude and said my boots were toast and I should consider buying a new pair. I then went to Ann Arbor Shoe Repair, which is right next door to the awesome pound for pound store. He said they were no problem to fix, just needed a piece of leather to help restitch the seam and could repair the soles. 25 bucks, done in a couple days. :) If you are looking for a store with patience and care, dont go there.
I was completely satisfied. I took in a shrunken, hardened pair of riding boots that I had already bought replacements for, but I knew I had not cared for them well and decided to get them stretched and softened before throwing them out. Picked them up two days ago and just called Park to tell them the boots have never fit like this since new, they are soft and supple, much more roomy and look like new. I LOVE what they did and the price was very much less than the new pair I had purchased. Now I have TWO pair of comfortable, like-new boots!
The work is excellent and they delivered on time. The prices are inline with other shoe repair places. Warning - Shoe repair in general is usually as much as the shoes cost new, so please dont post that they are expensive. All shoe repair is expensive.Update: I just recently went back for more shoe repair and the lady was out front smoking and waited until done before coming in. i was in the store almost a minute by myself.Going from a 4 star down to a 2 star
I have been going to Park Shoe Repair for several years now, primarily for preventive maintenance such as heel and sole and protectors, but have also had soles and heels replaced on boots and Birkenstocks. The service has always been done on time and much more quickly than a couple of other places I used to go. I used to work for a tailor and you need to have reasonable expectations. The reason they can meet the two week promise is they cannot drop everything each time a person walks in and wants 2 hours of work done that day. Ask how long it will take or ask if they can be done by your deadline.
Ive been wearing and collecting fine shoes for a few years now and feel safe in saying I know how shoes are recrafted and rebuilt and the general makeup of a mens dress shoe. I have been going to this shop for a couple years now. I knew exactly what I needed done to my shoes, but the owner, Todd, told me I was wrong and he wouldnt do it. All I wanted was a topsole added into my leather soles so that they sit flush with the rest of the leather. I told him what I wanted done wouldnt hurt the shoes and that this is what I preferred because I have seen success with other cobblers doing the very same thing. Some of the best shoe makers in the world use this technique. He got very rude and upset with me and pushed my shoes back into my face and told me to find someone else to do the job. He even went so far as to tell me how long g he has been repairing shoes and that I shouldnt listen to the internet. I apologized profusely as I didnt mean to offend him and wanted to calm him down (he almost stormed into the back of his shop). Completely absurd and unprofessional behavior. I initially gave him my shoes to perform the service on, but came back later after my fiance told me I should not have been treated that way and that they didnt deserve my time or money. I took my shoes to Ann Arbor shoe repair which moved to the mall recently and the owner there told me what I wanted was standard practice and that they can absolutely do this for me. Not only that, but they would be done in half the time Park shoe repair quoted me. If you need quality, kind service from a cobbler, I would go to Ann Arbor shoe repair in the Briarwood mall.I
I BOUGHT MY FIRST PAIR OF EXPENSIVE BOOTS 819$ FROM AMINAH ABDUL JILIL ONLINE GOT THEM OFF FEDEX TRUCK SAT ON MY COUCH PULLED THEM UP AND THE RIPPED AND TORE( LEATHER) THEY WOULDNT EXCHANGE THEM. I WENT TO 3 DIFFERENT REPAIR SHOPS, NO ONE WOULD TOUCH THEM. WENT TO PARK SHOE REPAIR WHERE ALEX SAID HE WOULD SO HIS BEST, HE DID AN AWESOME JOB IN LESS TIME THAN I WAS QUOTED. YOU CAN BARELY SEE THE DAMAGE, IM EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH HIS WORK AND THEY HAVE A LIFELONG CUSTOMER IN ME!!!!

2022-04-15I have been doing business ever since Todd and his wife purchased Park Shoe Repair several years ago from the original owners. They are very fair and honest, as well as perform high-quality work. They have bent over backwards to take good care of me. I highly recommend them. It is a very nice family-owned business.

2022-08-27Just needed to glue the soles back, when they were first done the soles were moved-didn’t sit in the right place and the glue was all around so I asked them to redo it and it came ever worse. The shoes are messed up I can’t wear them. Very nice people tho.

2021-08-17I dropped off my vintage leather jacket to have a single snap repaired, something I could’ve done myself if I had the tools. The job they did on the snap itself was fine, but they charged me $25 because they had to open up the lining to get it done. For the quality of the stitching they used to sew it back up though, it’s ridiculous that they charged me that much. Just a couple minutes more effort or a little more care would’ve produced a much more professional result. I ripped out their stitching and redid it myself with an invisible ladder stitch. Still, the holes from their thread remain in my jacket lining. When I called them to see if I could get a partial refund I was told I should’ve asked them to repair it before complaining. How could I expect someone who did such a horrid job in the first place to do better? They probably thought they could get away with rushed stitching since I’m young. Too bad I was taught how to sew and know better. Awful service. I could’ve forgiven them for the wait and pricing if they had just shown a little more care and professionalism.

2022-05-25Did not have great customer service, was told ‘not my shop, not my problem’ by employee. The work done was shoddy if not worthless. Asked them not to polish down the sides which did not happen either.

2022-05-10A fantastic local shoe repair spot in the heart of Ann Arbors downtown. They have worked wonders on my leather shoes that have endured punishing Michigan winters. If youre looking for new soles, new laces, or winterizing a pair of shoes -- do yourself a favor and head to Park Shoe Repair.

2022-06-30The gentleman that helped me was wonderful, however the phone call I received to tell me my shoes were ready was horrible, very rough. Got there was not greeted until the gentleman came out. Owner just looked and didnt crack a smile. Shoes look good, but I didnt like her vibe...WILL NOT GO BACK!!
