Very nasty I never had ribs that tasted as bad as the ones I recieved from here like what type of sauce is that???. Everything from the ribs to the Mac and cheese was nasty so save your money and never come here.
I love Parks vinegar tasting bbq sauce, but NOT in my macaroni and cheese! The Macaroni was horrible, and it came in a super small container. My fries were extremely soggy.The woman at the register was rude and the building looks like it’s falling apart. Lastly my ribs tasted like burnt coal with sauce on it. I really use to love this place as a child but now it’s just not the same.
A Detroit Classic! Ribs are still delicious, building needs some serious upgrades! At nearly $30 for a slab of ribs and constant flow of customers, theres no excuse for such a run-down, nasty building inside.

The food was good and the portion was just enough I ordered the small end rib dinner with baked beans and potato salad My first thought was that it was not enough food in those little cups I ate it all and I was satisfied and it was so good pricey but good
Customer service terrible they have their phone connected to DoorDash which your order will be over 90 min and it’s so hard to get a refund from DoorDash they always busy the lady that serving you is rude would stay going to vicki ‘s bbbq over this place any day

The women that work in here/cashier are ALWAYS rude over the phone and in person. Not only are the workers lacking customer service but the food is over priced and subpar at best: 9/10 your ribs will be dried out and taste like yesterday. The best thing they have going is their sauce. Parks is a big disappointment and guaranteed to make you miss Young’s even more.

I am very disappointed. This used to be my favorite barbecue place. However, the last two times I purchased a slab of ribs here, they were burnt. Forty five dollars is too much to pay for a burnt rib dinner.

Love the ribs. That Cole Slaw needs to be prepared by me. Greens - Ok, too much meat. Greens should be Greens. Learn how 🤔 to cook Greens without the meat. Never cook my Greens with meat 🍖 still delicous.
The best barbecue place in the world, I have been to Texas, New Jersey, Ohio and a few other places and they are the best and well be going back in the future soon.
Im a customer for over fifty years and in the last two years I always get a burned rib. But todays was the worst ever it was charred beyond repair (I usually can scrape) but todays rib was so burned it made the sauce taste burnt.
I’ve been to a lot of bbq joints in metro Detroit and parks is my favorite. I regularly drive 45 mins to get a slab of ribs. Love the vinegar sauce. Honestly parks inspired my own bbq. The chicken is very good as well. Only reason they don’t get 5 stars is the service can be bad at times (not always)

Omg. Got rib tips with mild sauce. Smhhhh. The sauce isn’t smooth. It’s like….gritty, thick like paste. I took a pic. I’m going to figure out how to post it. Drove 30 min because I heard it was good. I’m so mad I used a cheat day for this. First time here. Never returning.
If I could give a -00000000 I would...... 1st the food was super cold... I said ok just heat it up, so the Mac and cheese tasted like I was drinking vinegar... the potato salad was ok, the beans were ice cold.... the ribs were awful.... asked for sweet bbq and got hot no big deal I like hot BUT!!!! It was HORRIBLE, the sauce was super thick and tasted like vinegar the ribs were cold, I could eat it... 60 dollars NOT WORTH IT. I was really trying to justify it and eat it but it was all so bad I couldn’t even eat it....Try at your own cost...DISGUSTING. And it’s horrible the prices they charge for horrible food. Do better.
I ordered a small end it was horrible. The entire rib was full of extra large pieces of rubbery fat and the bones where all chipped up and broke off. The bones had a strange smell too. There was no charcoal taste just tomatoish sauce. I would not recommend this place.

The food was absolutely terrible Chicken dry all the way down to the bone which was brown rib tips were burnt and salty when I tried to contact someone there the young lady very very rude kept calling me honey and said she was not going to argue with me I said I was not calling to argue but my food was horrible and what could she do about it she said well bring it back I said I stated to you that I stay far that I made a special trip to come here she said was nothing I could do for you and she hung up on me
While traveling a few hours from home we were hoping to stop and find a good old-fashioned BBQ along the route to enjoy. Unfortunately, this was our first and last time ordering from here. Whether the employees were tired/over-worked or just having a bad day, it definitely showed. Their customer service was subpar at best. Any questions asked were responded with unnecessary attitude and for what? The BBQ chicken sauce was repugnant. It had the consistency of tomato paste and only tasted like hot sauce. The bread served was stale and the proportions you get are small for what you pay for.
My mother and her parents absolutely loved Parks when she was growing up, and she was extremely happy to see that it was still opened. Unfortunately it was my first & possibly both of our last time going. It took an hour just to get the food AFTER placing my order 30 minutes before that. The meat was cold, tough, dry, and burnt. The sauce was ok, customer service needs improvement and just overall things need to be better. $30 for that is just insane. The price wouldnt be a problem if the food was up to par with the way Parks used to be. 🤷🏾♀️
This place has been here since 1964. The food is still top notch and the BBQ sauce is still the same, great!

Placed an order this evening by phone and was greeted with I dont have time for this and where you at because we about to close. Now when I pull up place was still open and I called 3X prior to me placing an order and she didnt pick up the phone. I had a taste for some ribs and been coming here for years for ribs. My family been coming here since my granddaddy and mama use to bring us to pick up food and I patronize this business over a Slows BBQ and other places. The girl with the Fd up @$$ attitude need to be fired. Shouldnt be taking orders. Unacceptable customer service! Dont work in customer service if you cannot be of service. This is why Im iffy about businesses paying some food workers $15 or more for terrible customer service due to them not being trained and recieve constant certifications in customer service. So......I come in and she takes my card and then throws it back in the money receiver tray. If I didnt have a taste for these old ribs I just threw away, I would of not been bothered. I support black businesses to keep the money circulating in our community. After today, I cannot support this business and will make sure my brothers who order from here and friends know this place cannot be supported due to them having below 1 star customer service and selling old, burnt dried up ribs often. And the bad part is they think the sauce is supposed to cover up or soak in the fact its old or very dry. From the other reviews I read I see that they dont take their customers seriously to want repeat business.They lost my support.
After 10 phone calls unanswered, and a 35 minute drive...I walked into the establishment to find 2 women sitting in the back staring from the glass, and one lady at the register passing out orders. Mind you the phone is ringing non stop and nobody is attempting to answer. FYI: A note is posted on the door that states the following” CALL IN YOUR ORDER” ...As I proceed to place my order I was told 1 hr and 30 mins for rib tips...R u kidding me? On a holiday weekend, shouldn’t all meat be prepared in advance to take on its wkend/holiday consumers? Or did I miss something? The customer service needs improvement. And the common sense of time management that everyone don’t live in the area needs to be taken into consideration as well. Yesterday was my last time supporting this black owned business I grew up eating. Sad Sad Sad.... Why must it ALWAYS be us? Smh
The bbq sauce isnt bad but its too expensive. I was charged $6 for a small thing of bbq sauce. They have poor customer service. Their phone just rings and rings so you cant call in ahead and order. There is also a 3 person maximum inside the restaurant. If you want some good BBQ, you will have to wait awhile.
Hours say they open at 1. Did not answer phone or begin taking orders until 2. Waited over and hour and Ribs were disgusting. We ordered two slabs with “mild” sauce WHICH WAS NASTY. The ribs were so undercooked husband had to put in the oven at 400 for another hour and re-sauce them just to make them edible...I myself, took two bites and like another customer, threw mine in the trash. Potato salad was good though 🤷🏻♀️
This was the worst experience I’ve had in a long time. They tell you to call your order in. Then, don’t answer. Next, I paid with my card. My card was charged 300.00 for one slab. The so called owner, Tracie, tells me it will be 3days to refund my money. To make it worst, the so called ribs, were so NASTY. Dry, hard, old, Absolutely disgusting . Parks used to be a treat. Unique flavor, different sauce. It awful. I wouldn’t feed a dog that slop.

The customer service was not professional and when we called in the order the lady was so rude.when we got there it was a lady bring in bags of orders From God knows where !Then the customer service when we get there was rude. I dont know what people are tasting but this place was just Horrible And the barbecue sauce tasted like hot sauce and vinegar and I would not recommend anybody to go here. I gave it one star but I really dont want to give them any.
He loves this place, but Im not in to as much. Its always slow, no matter what time you go, call in (you can only call in now) or otherwise (when you could). You cant walk in and place an order, but you can go and wait in line to pick it up, 3 people at a time.Maybe taking the phone number and calling when its ready would help. Other places do that and it seems to work.

I was trying to continue to support, but its not worth it. When it comes to customer service, simply put, they dont gaf at all.They are rude, never apologetic for their many mistakes, food is overpriced. It seems like they are intentionally trying to run customers away. During the pandemic, I saw a waitress cursing a customer out for nicely asking about the wait on her food. Everytime Im there I wonder if Im on a tv show because its always something when it comes to going there lol
My service was decent. I walked in to order. I was instructed to call-in my order. I walked out. I tried calling a couple of times and got a busy signal. Another guest was ordering from her vehicle and allowed me to place an order from her phone. Sauce was great. Love the vinegar taste. Meat portion was adequate. Sides were very small. Mac N Cheese was too salty for my taste. Green beans were cool. Bread was fresh. Peach cobbler was horrible horrible horrible. Raw dough strips on top layered over a few peaches and more raw cobbler batter. I’d return for meat only.Thanks
Parks used to be good with nice ribs. Now for $28 you can get a slab of crispy ribs hardly any meat on the long bone just some meat on the top of the bone. Cooked till the meat turns (wood like) crispy which is not pleasant when eating. The sauce even more vinegar tasting. I long for the old days when you got good for your dollar. And hey, whats up with Parks adding an extra $10 on the slab for Uber? Grubhub delivery?
8/15/2020I did a Doordash order on this Saturday evening. The greens were sweet and obviously canned. The Mac and Cheese was Heart Attack Salty, and from a box. The fries were these greasy yellow limp things.....🤷🏽♀️Now for the slab of ribs😳 This is my 1st experience and I have heard that they were good.....🤔. To begin, they dont strip the membrane on the inside of the slab. Who doesnt do that? The meat was tender, but getting through the grainy, gritty and watery vinegar mixture was difficult. I rinsed them and add some one sweet and spicy and made it work. The sides were a total loss. Im One and Done😖☠8/16/2020I tried calling but no answer. I wanted to inquire if they needed a cook. Some one who takes pride in their work...... their loss.....
I LOVE this place! The bbq is the BEST, and I crave it at least once a month! They are busy, and the wait for carryout varies, but if you call it in, they tell you the wait time. The longest I have had is about an hour. However, by the time I get there, its normally ready. The customer service has been nice as well. Only one hick up experience, and that was for their online ordering. I couldnt get thru (phone just rang, but thought it was due to them being busy), and place the order online. Come to find out, they were closed, but the website said OPEN. The online service refunded my money in about 3-5 business days. So, going forward, I just call until I speak with someone. If I dont get an answer, I will not order. Other than that, I HIGHLY recommend trying this staple in Detroit. Its well worth the effort.

Called to place my order, the lady that answered the phone said, we are too busy right now call later.since I was already minutes away to my surprise there was one car in parking lot, and no one in the lobby. The lady taking orders said I had to leave and call in my order. I asked if I could just place my order and leave comeback and pick my order up. Then she explained her credit card machine was not working and that I had to go find cash somewhere else.I dont live in Detroit anymore.49yrs or more I have purchased ribs here today is my last. Its sad because I remember when it was a joy but 45.00 cash for a slab. I am done.
Parks has been a family tradition to get yearly. We come from Lansing every year to pick up SEVERAL slabs of ribs and they never disappoint. Comes with the bread to wipe up that sauce too.You’ve not had good ribs until you’ve had Parks
I gave it 3 stars because like mother like daughter. Both of them have serious attitude problems. The daughter always has an attitude when you call to give her your order. The sides are nasty just like their attitudes. I like the ribs and the signature sauce. If it wasn’t for the ribs, I probably would have caught a case because I wanted to slap the daughter!! They say support the black business but the people that represent the business make it really hard to do that!!
Avoid at all costs. Got a doordash order from here. Half the food was missing, and the food we did get was entirely inedible. The wings were disgusting, the ribs were covered in the grossest vinegar and tomato sauce Ive ever tasted. Will absolutely never order from here again. Truly awful.

I always loved Parks even as a kid , I even have recommend this restaurant to many people, but I feel they have fell off or need a new cook. The last 2 times I purchased food (small ends they put the good part of the ribs on top and underneath the rest of my ribs were burnt & I purchased 3 dinners . I cant waste my money like that. They use to be the best. I have to find a New Rib Joint😪😪
This is the worst place in America for ribs and customer services. They seem to be known for burnt food and strongly lack the minimal customer service skills. I use to work for Youngs Barbecue on Mt Elliott as a teenager and Parks STILL use that rare sauce lol, thought Id never taste that sauce again. Use to go home smelling just like it every night lol. Definitely one of a kind...

I ONLY go here to buy parks mild bbq sauce because its FANTASTIC!!!I dont buy their food, i dont like it..... just the mild bbq sauce & everytime i come in i have to wait, the girls will not even acknowledge you.Everytime i go i buy 2 or 3 jars & tip the girls $4. Food / ribs was a little singed. Mac and green beans not good. For almost 30 a slab, you would think they could hire more people. Cashier was overworked and her attitude showed it. If the the owners have no more interest, they should just sell it to interr ested Detroiters that would keep it alive. Or pay your workers more money.
I was born and raised in Detroit and now reside in Lansing and dont mind the drive just to pick up some Parks Barbeque. Love it.

Parks is original still the same flavor which is their own special sauce very unique flavor I think its a lot of paprika to use not for sure but I still love Parks BBQ Detroits original 👍👍

Im sad to post such a low rating for a carryout restaurant that I love, and for which I am a longstanding patron; but I am VERY frustrated! To comply with the current safety standards, Parks requires orders to be phoned in ahead of time. Thats great; but NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE!!! Today I patiently dialed and re-dialed for a solid half hour before getting an answer; only to be told that it would be an hour and a half before I could receive my order. During this time, while orders cannot be placed directly, it would be good if the restaurant could hire someone specifically to take phone orders in a timely fashion.
Food is great employees less than tasteful all of them loyal customer for 30 years will never come back. After trying to support after covid. Owner check how much Ive spent on mycard at your place. Never again.

I Purchase a large end on 9/27/20. It was horrible the meat wasnt clean it still had skin on it, and the sauce was so salty you couldnt taste anything but salt, A waste of money. No more parks for me. They used too much salt. Nasty Ribs. They used too much. Think about your customers.
I originally left a 5 star review 2 years ago but now Parks has really slipped and let themselves go. We have been coming here for generations and loved Parks but lately the food doesnt taste the same anymore and after numerous tries Im sad to say I think the spirit of parks BBQ is gone from what it had been for decades. It went from THEE place to order from to the place that is ok at best.
Parks BBQ is one of my absolute favorite places to stop whenever I am back in town. They are family friendly and remembers your name if you’re a repeat customer! I literally grew up on this place and till this day, I cannot get enough of it! Thank you so much for your amazing food and family friendly service!
The rib was blurted and cold, taste like 2 days old rib you have a picture and thats a slab okay! the mild sauce is the nasty azz hell... but employees were nice the two in front Ill never go there again and I read the review but my hubby wanted Parks Old Style Bar-B-Que hes on his own next time...
I did Door Dash and the Parks Bbq experience was horrible... they were out of fries... so I requested mac n cheese...no mac n cheese ok no Ill take green beans n Coleslaw they gave a Sams Club sample literally.(check the pics)The ribs tasted old and horrible. This is my last time with Parks and my family and I have been coming here for years... they are downright awful now not to mention extremely rude to the Door Dasher ugh!

I ordered a full slab of ribs for my birthday on July 4th and received some disgusting old meat . Not only that I spent 50$. This was just awful!! The rib was hard, the sauce was full of vinegar, and they didn’t even have fries ! If you’re considering ordering from here DONT DO IT !!!!!
For the first time in my life have I ever received bad service from this place. The cook and the waitress or server was beefed out he didnt want to give orders she was asking for customers was getting mad for order being held up on purpose but yet she apologized and continued to do the best she could.. Then when I finally get my food after a hour a half of just opening at 1:00 pm the skin wasnt pulled off the back of my slab of rib it was dried out looked a day old im sad to say until the bald head cook in the back gets a attitude adjustment I will not return. Never had bad food from here in the 50 yrs of my life and Im only 53 because my family bein goin here for years since they been open SMITH STREET.

This place was recommended by a loyal customer whos been patronizing their business for years and promised me that the food was gonna be good. It was terrible I ordered some rib tips all of them was badly burnt up for 20 something dollars terrible place now me and my wife could not really eat them we had to eat a few pieces that wasnt burnt and throw the rest in the garbage cuz I stay in St Clair shores and it was too far to drive back and I spend too much money there at that establishment
Food was awful the greens taste like glory greens out the can and the mac& cheese noodles were over cooked really mushy and the cheese wasnt melted all the way through and the ribs wasnt cooked long enough it was a waste of time and money.
Best BBQ in Michigan. We drive 30 miles to get to it! The staff is very friendly and helpful. All around Parks is the BEST place to go!!
Fast but very good bbq. Staff was nice, coleslaw was awesome. I had the moist brisket sandwich, solid 4. Blueberry cobbler was good and plentiful. And they have big red soda.

Parks Old Style Bar-B-Q has been one of my favorites for years. However, for the last past two/three years, the quality of the food has went down, and customer service is terrible and over priced. I visited on 6/4/19. The female taking orders was Rude, and Confrontational. She treats customers if they were a bother. The establishment is not warm or welcoming. This type of behavior is unacceptable. I refuse to pay for mediocre food along with a Bad Attitude!!!!! Get It Together!!!!!
This was my first visit to Parks BBQ. I knew before I left this establishment I would not return because of the abusive customer service. After I tasted the food I felt robbed without a gun. I spent almost $40 for a slab dinner to be insulted by very rude employees. Not just rude to me but every customer. The ribs were slathered in sauce but crispy underneath. Burnt? Overcooked? Im not sure but very little was edible. I also received what looked like 2 SMALL SIDES for a slab. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!! I paid full price although I had a Groupon which was priced more than actual in-store prices. I was informed I couldnt use it which wasnt in writing. I am turning in the GROUPON because I promise never to give this business any more of my hard earned money Ever again!! Never/Ever! Negative 5 stars - inedible!

🤦♂️I wanted to relive my childhood today and instead I had a nightmare of an experience.I ordered the small end rib dinner for around 20 bucks! I got home and unraveled it the sauce didnt look the same as I remembered but that wasnt the deal breaker! I added some of the extra sauce to the rib that was given to me.I pulled a bone an bit into it an instantly realized I had made a bad lunch decision 😢It tasted luke warm overwhelmingly salty and I could tell the rib had been fried to reheat the meat which left it with a crisp to meat. The sauce was a horrible blend as if whomever made didnt take the proper steps to measure it. My experience was just all bad for me!Needless to say I want be wasting my time or money at my childhood restaurant.🤦♂️
The nastiest food I have ever tasted especially coming from a black owned restaurant. I’m very disappointed. The ribs were nasty, macaroni way to salty, peach cobbler nasty. They need to update their cook because this was nasty.

Potato salad is tasteless with only salad dressing no eggs,celery, onion or ANYTHING!! Barbeque cooked wood hard. Sweet potato pie just sugar no spices after an 1.5 hour wait. I’ll never go back Terrible Terrible
I re-acquainted myself with Parks BBQ after years of absence. The ribs, the chicken, the sauce was intoxicating. I had forgotten how good these ribs and sauce was. Years ago we used to patronize YOUNGS BBQ, similar sauce. Both claimed formulating the sauce, who cares at this point. OUR NEW FAVORITE, SO GOOD.
Price way too high. One slab of ribs 30 dollars ask for an extra sauce a dollar and five cent no side with a 30 dollar slab. Two words Famous Daves here i come lol 😂 and thats a baby back rib thats burned as well as i caught the cook using the microwave too warm up the food. How do they stay in business ?????
Horrible customer service, disorganized! TOOK MY MONEY BUT DID NOT RECEIVE MY ORDER! They stated they never received my online order after waiting over an hour and a half for my food, however no else complained of a similar issue. I will NEVER PATRONIZE this establishment again and I will tell everyone I know not too either! WHAT A MOTHER’S DAY! It was completely ruined!

I was asked if I wanted mild, sweet or hot sauce for my chicken dinner. I asked for mild...I got a hot mess. It was more of a spicy paste than bbq sauce. It was horrible. Never going back. My husband got a sweet short end dinner. Ribs were better than the chicken but the mac and cheese was terrible. The sides were also extremely small. Never going back!
I ordered by mistake through the door dash app wing dings dinner and meant to order the whole wings dinner. It cost me about $15 dollars and the sides came in cups that you normally get sauces or salad dressings in. When I called to complain the manager pretty much said to bad that’s what you ordered. I will never order from them again.

This was thee worst bbq I’ve ever had in life! I asked for hot bbq sauce and I’m really not sure what I actually received, but it wasn’t hot and it didn’t have the consistency of bbq sauce either. The greens were bland and had absolutely no seasoning. The meat was dry, kind of gritty, and had no flavor to it. The food was just flat out nasty. I would rather rip my money up and flush it than to spend it here again🤮🤮🤮
Parks used to be a great place.. been going there over 40years ...my father used to go every weekend...but now some employees are nice but others wont even let you use restroom... and the little little light skin guy that drives the food truck (manager/owner) is the worst one of all .. very rude must have a little guy complex or something had several confrontations with him and on top of it all they give you a old hard slab of ribs🤬

My most favorite place for ribs! The sauce is not your run of the mill sauce. I love it though. If this is your first time, order all sauce on the side and have a taste test with them. Gotta go, on my way to get some Parks!
I was recently introduced to it location that I never knew existed in Detroit but upon experience in their fuel with the sweet barbecue sauce I am totally hooked! Since my original visit I have taken three or four family members back to this location to support them. The only dislike is the ordering area is small and cramped and the seating area does not look very welcoming but the food is superb!
Hubby got a coupon for this place and it is way off our beat so we almost missed it! That would have been too bad. I finally found my way down there today and picked up a carryout. Its on the east end of Brush Park. Note, carryout is pretty much the rule. They do have a few utilitarian tables in a little room they made from half the floorspace.My coupon was for rib tips for two. I was given a choice of three sauces, regular, sweet or hot. I picked hot. The four sides looked kind of skimpy for two, but actually were just enough -- Greens, beans, potato salad. Nothing special there, but perfectly adequate. Four slices of a good home style wheat bread were also included.Then I saw the MEAT! Wow! I got two of the small type styrofoam sandwich boxes full of rib tips. They were really heavy, just stuffed with the meat. I was given two extra little tubs of sauce. Good thing, that sauce is delicious! Just a hint of vinegar, not too much, and it is dark red with paprika, a really good paprika. The heat was just right for my somewhat wimpy palate. We warmed up the food a couple hours after I got it. The meat was in pieces, no bones, but had a few bits of gristle, with some tough and some tender pieces of meat. It was well coated with the wonderful sauce and of course, we added more, Not too messy because we could use forks to eat it with. We loved it!We two finished just over half the one box of meat and all the sides. We did not touch the second box and we saved some sauce, another great meal for tomorrow!
My mama introduced me to Parks in the mid-seventies, and Ive been going back every year since. And so has she. Yeah Parks might require an acquired taste but these days thats what reviews are for. But I will tell you this. I will go to Parks before I go to Slows for BBQ.
Had been craving that awesome sauce so we stopped in today to only be disappointed... Sauce still good but them rib tips are though as hell no taste of smoke at all.. I Will be back just to buy the sauce Ill cook my own meat...
This food is the worst. Mac n cheese is boxed & the rib sauce is just NASTY. We purchased 1& 1/2 rib ate 3 bones and gave to dog. Called to tell them we were not satisfied no resolution. 1st & last time
What can I say about Parks? I grew up going there since it was around the corner, but the ribs were always tough & the sauce is all vinegar & no sweet. Even so, I will still go there for fries drenched in their bbq when I am visiting Detroit. Its really an acquired taste.
This is by far the worst restaurant I have ever been to facts I’ll never go here again the food is horrible all the vegetables came of the can can the meat was old and dry and the sauce was horrible Smh I called for my money back and they said no refunds I didn’t even want to give them this one star but I couldn’t post the review without doing so
The ribs and chicken were so delicious and tender. The bbq sauce is unlike anything Ive had before. Not very thick but extremely flavorful. Could definitely taste the tangy vinegar which I loved. The coleslaw was perfect too
I have been going to park old-style BBQ since 1973 but I have never ever experienced such tough chewy ribs like I did this Monday for Labor Day, when I called to complain about the ribs they told me to just stick them in the oven and cook them some more. So as much as I enjoy your ribs in the past I will not be returning because you are so inconsistent with the cooking of your ribs.

Just tried Parks for the 1st time despite the reviews and unfortunately they werent wrong. All of our meat was burnt and my order was modified without our knowledge. They ran out of chicken wings which effected the promo we used with GrubHub. GrubHub honored the missing chicken order but not the fact that the restaurant adjusted our order without our knowledge which removed the promotional. This was my 2nd time trying GrubHub both experiences my orders were adjusted without my knowledge and I wont be using them nor revisiting Parks. Sorry causes I like supporting neighborhood facilities
I gave 1 star because I had to give a star....my friend talked about this place so highly. But my 1st experience was HORRIBLE I ordered a rib tip dinner and my sides were cold and so was my meat....it was like my meat had been in the refrigerator all night and microwaved when I ordered it my not hot.....my first time here and it was horrible. Im willing to give it one more try eventually.
Well first time trying parks. Ive heard so much about the place and have even dropped the manager off when I was driving for Lyft. I thought hell why not Uber eats was gonna give.me $20 off just to try them so I ordered the slab dinner. It was a slab alright a slab of bones. The meat wasnt tender and the sides were god aweful small. The Mac had no taste to it and the fries tasted like they had been driven through the salt mines after they had been cold dipped in oil..only thing decent was their sweet sauce and it came super quick.

Im 50+ years. Ive been eating and patronizing Parks BBQ at the Beaubien Location for 40+ years. On Thursday, 06/04/2015. I had a taste for Parks BBQ. I drove all the way across town to purchase and take a dinner to work for my dinner meal. After arriving to work early I decided to eat my dinner. Never have I ever been so disappointed with their food. THE RIBS WERE BURNT AND TUFF. I COULD NOT EAT THEM. IN THE TRASH THEY WENT!!! Although this happened a couple of days ago, it has still been on my mind. I have recommended quite a lot of people to try them out. Im so embarrassed and hope no one else have this type of experience with their food. How could you do that to your customers LOYAL AND NEW CUSTOMERS? Damn! YOU SHOULD GET A COOK WHO KNOWS HOW TO WORK THE GRILL WHO KNOWS WHAT THEIR DOING. ESPECIALLY WATCHING THE GRILL FOR FLAIR-UPS AND CHECKING FOR DONENESS!!! JUST AWFUL!
The service was dry, the server seemed to had a bad day. The meat was tough and the parts of the meat was burnt. I also got the very very end of bread for slices. Its not the same as 20 years ago. I miss Youngs BBQ and Greens BBQ.
The worst ribs expensive as of 07/19 whole slab $26.00 used to $19.00 this year. And you don’t get a whole slab 3-4 bones missing off large end. Are they making rib tips or large end sandwiches from what was supposed to be a whole slab. Plus ribs were burned 🤬🤬🤬🤬. Won’t be going back!!!!
Best ribs in the City of Detroit, you have to experience it for yourself. Once your hooked, youre hooked for life, the homemade barbecue sauce is hello goodness, I get extra sauce and bread, slabs of ribs and rib tips and they have sides and so much more.

This place is terrible!!!! We first get there and the entire staff is outside getting High....I was hesitant about going in because one of the guys was outside asking did I call my order in....I said no....he then asked if I knew what I wanted because it was going to take 30 minutes.... Im guessing that was to give them time to finish smoking. ....however I said the 30 minute wait was ok.....so I went in to order.....the girl who took my order was not so nice or patient.....the sides were microwaved....and they were terrible....all canned and boxed!!!! Originally they told me it would be 30 minutes....I guess thinking I would leave....but since I did not leave and still placed the order....it was ready in 5 minutes!!!! I paid $36 for food I end up putting in the trash.....thats what I get for wanting to try something different.... I should have followed my first mind and went to Slows BBQ or Famous Daves!!!!! I have been eating Parks ribs for over 35yrs, As a young boy I can remember a neighbor bringing ribs home, late evening and my parents putting the picnic table in the driveway!! I have Always had fresh well cooked food from Parks!!!
Havent had Parks in YEARS but the food was still very good. I could tell everything was still homemade not store bought or canned. Pack your patience though. Depending on the time of day they may be swamped with customers.

5/14/17 EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!! WOKE UP OUT OF SLEEP THROWING UP (5X) AND STUCK ON TOILET FOR TWO HOURS WITH THE RUNS. After eating bbq chicken dinner and wing dings, baked beans and potato salad. Was Stuck on Toilet for 2 hours and had trash in front of me while on toilet throwing up. When i called to place the order, I asked if I could try a sample of the greens, the young man told me no and that the food was not cooked fresh, unless its fried, but that the food is re-heated by being microwaved. I was hesitant, but a foodie recommended this place so I tried it. Just called to speak with the owner, but he was not available so I spoke with the manager. I told her my experience, and she said the mild bbq sauce has been known to make you sit on the toilet. I told her I had sweet bbq, not mild and she was shocked. She then said well the bbq sauce has vinegar, I told her vinegar is apart of my diet since I use apple cider vinegar for health purposes. She then stated well you have no proof to prove our food made you sick and we do not give refunds or replace orders that have already been eaten. I told her why would I want a refund or to eat from a place that made me so sick that it woke me out of my sleep. I told her this is constructive feedback, as I use to own a business. I then stated Im not sure if my body responded this way because the grease that fried the chicken was old. She affirmed the grease is changed 1x a week, and the owner has been in business for 51 years with no lawsuits or proof that our food made anyone sick. I told her thank you for your time, but your are not receiving my feedback which means this call is a a waste of time. I wished her a happy mothers day and a blessed day and hung up the phone. BACK TO THE GREASE: According to my research for restaurant protocol, it should be changed 2x-3x a week to avoid bacteria and people getting sick, so I am assuming this is why I got sick. EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!!

It was Valentines Day and me and my wife didnt really feel like going out to eat so we order parks and stayed in and ate. Which was good.
Order was not right . Order string beans. Got home had greens. Left a $3.00 tip. For what?
Good old school barbeque. I wanted fries as my sides, but they were close to clising, so I was a little dissapointed when I had to get the mac and cheese, which tasted like it was loaded with onion salt seasoning. Im not sure if that was what it was, but ut definitely was too salty.
Yet again disappointed, I sometimes yearn for some good barbeque and its very hard to find in the city so I trace my roots and I always come back. The ribs are great but the service is awful, just called to place a order and whomever answered the phone does not enjoy his job or like humans! As a service driven industry its important that you treat your customers well! Or no matter how goid the food is people will find other places to go. I try to continue to support my culture first. I will not refer anyone else and I wont be returning. So sad but spending money on terrible service is not for me.

Very disapointed as this is the first time I had their bbq and upon checking the reviews I thought it would be enjoyable. Everything was reheated, the sides and the boiled ribs were warmed up in the microwave (I thought this was a bbq spot). I personally think that boiling ribs is disrespectful(Again I thought this was a bbq spot). The service was bad and I will not be returning.
The food is great for a reasonable price. I would suggest calling your order in then picking it up to avoid waiting. With the Covid going on they are not letting more than three people in at a time.
HORRIBLE!!!! The ribs were tough and tasteless. Parks is passing off Danish ribs which is a much smaller boney rib as spare ribs. Spare ribs are much larger and meatier. The price has been raised from $19 to $27 for poor quality and less quantity. NO REFUNDS!

I saw the review recently on WXYZ and thought Id try Parks Old Style Bar-B-Q. I ordered a slab dinner, which included two sides. I was never so disappointed when I got home. The sauce was terrible. It tasted like vinegar and paprika. That is not the bar-b-q sauce I grew up on in Detroit, or anywhere else Ive lived. There were so many people waiting for orders. I guess Im in the minority, but I wont be going back.

Tried Parks about a month ago. I kept hearing conflicting reviews on the food: it was either great or really bad. I decided to give it a try and to say the least, it wasnt appetizing. I dont like to give bad reviews unless I go at least twice... maybe the cook was having a bad day, lol but I recently received a groupon for a slab dinner on my birthday... Im hoping the cook is on his A-game, lol.

Ive been sitting here 40 minutes waiting on my boyfriend (who Loves this joint) to come out with his order...and btw I dont smell any type of BBQ cooking. This place is the pits....(no BBQ pit included). Definitely aquired taste. Id rather eat a McRib.
It was okay. Its a bit sketchy inside and my food took a while. The sauce wasnt great and overly vinegar-y. The place has glass in front of the entire register and kitchen so just be prepared for that. That said, I felt safe enough inside.

I have been getting parks for years. New comers should try the sweet sauce first. The hot and mild sauce is my favorite. I buy it to mix with my homemade sauce. Parks and Vickies still jamming.

2022-04-02Save yourself and dont eat here. I ordered a slab rib dinner via Grubhub. The ribs are burnt, bitter, and coated in a soot textured sauce. Yuck! I could not eat them. I threw them away. The potato salad is extra thick and very sweet. Baked beans tasted like the ribs. Just dont do it.

2022-05-16Ran into this place a few times while peddling & finally caught it when it was open. So glad we did. Everything we had was delicious. Ribs were tender yet had texture, hot & sweet sauces both great, beans coleslaw & greens all equally match this happy review. But, you know a place thats been around for 57years is doing something right! Probably not best for ordering from grubhub. Get out to get it yourself so its not sitting in Styrofoam to die. Nice park right down the street to sit & enjoy now that the weather has changed

2021-08-22Food look like bullcrap. I order bbq wings and got this bull. I informed the lady that this doesnt look like bbq sauce and the mac in cheese is not baked. She said they dont do refunds. Horrible sad some people eat this garbage.

2022-02-26Never has anything. Always out of macaroni and cheese, out of rib tips, so I get a rib sandwich. Effing disgusting. The sauce was horrible. Then the lady behind the counter, always attitudinal, ALWAYS!! She definitely belongs on one of those Tubi movies. Long story short I WILL NOT BE BACK!

2022-04-19I brought a sandwich large end Rib . I got 6 bones. 2 slice of white bread. Mild sauce.After the reviews I read kind of made me scared they were sold out of wings and Rid tops It was the sauce. I enjoyed MY sandwich.

2022-03-21Visited today for the first time. Totally disappointed! I couldn’t even enjoy my small-end rib dinner because the vinegar in the bbq sauce was too strong. Unbearably strong. I ended up throwing it out. Will not be back.

2022-05-08This place has the best sauce Ive ever tasted. It may be too much for some to handle but if you like a bit of a bite in your sauce, this is the place. Start slow, go mild at first.

2021-04-28Ive been coming to Parks for years, and I had previously given it a decent rating, but, while I like to be patient during these strange pandemic times, this was a bit beyond the pale. I placed the order before 4pm with an estimated 4:30 pick up time. Came by at 4:45 and she said she hadnt even started it because it was an online order, barked at me to get out because of the occupancy limits. So then I came back half an hour later, and it was finally ready.But $46 should be enough for three or four people, and this was a meager dinner for two.Collard greens werent bad, for sure. Wing dings, meh? Pulled pork had the flavor, but it was sort of just a sad little smoosh between two pieces of bread (pictured-- $11 worth?). If youre gonna get BBQ and pay through the nose for it, might as well go to Slows at that point.
