Comment: Been coming here since I bought my car for its services. I’ve never had an issue with the services here before until my last service. Multi point inspection sheet was never given, fluids were not replenished (aside from my oil change), and rotation was not done (they noted swollen lug nuts as the cause but I took it to a local tire shop and they did it with no issue and said the lugs were fine). Maybe an off day for the crew there but overall good remarks for the service department.

Comment: My experience has always been less than great customer service. The only thing is almost every time I come here they always ask if I want my car washed and my answer is always yes. For whatever reason, when I pick up my vehicle its never washed. So, my question is why does this location offer me a car wash and it never happens. I get in my car and leave because Im not about to wait even more to get it washed. So please who ever reads the notes on the initial invoice read carefully so this does not continue happening. Getting a tune-up is not exactly cheap and Im sure Im paying for the car wash that I dont ever get.

Was told it was due to the lifts Toyota uses but I believe it was more tech negligence. I was recommended to ask for Jasmine at Penske Toyota. Ill be honest, I dont get any of my brakes or anything fixed at any dealership just because they over price compared to doing it yourself or other shops that can fix it and do the same work for cheaper. I was there last week to get my basic maintenance check up (I have the package for 300) and I had them wash my car and the car wash ended up taking off my right side mirror cover. I went inside and someone helped me(I dont remember his name sorry, but he his desk was on the left side of Jesus) he came out found the cover for the mirror and fixed it. Comment: They used to be great but the employees are all extremely unhappy and you can just tell that the managers have all created a hostile work environment. If your employees are happy and arent being treated Right, the customers will feel it.The managers have made the decision to make corporate bureaucracies in everything the employees have to do to do their jobs.They used to have service on Sunday without an appointment and now you have to jump thru several hoops to make an appointment but when you arrive even if early to your appointment, youre going to have to wait, so whats good about making an appointment to just wait as though you had no appointment. They used to have labor rates of like $180 an hour and now its $230 an hour and thats a 28% increase in the hourly rate. Thats robbing people. The management here is so bad, Ill never buy a car or truck from them as they dont care about their customers and they dont care about their employees. They only. Care about money. Period. Stay away.

They didn’t check it or anything.Today 04/19/24 i took my car to my trusted mechanic and he saw that the oil was almost non existent. If I hadn’t brought it to my mechanic, my engine would have failed. This Toyota shop is the most negligent service i have ever been too. Its a shame that i have 3 more oil changes in this shop but wont be returning.I have the appointment receipts just in case you need proof.

I witnessed they were having arguments among them which is extremely unprofessional and does not want to chose to go back!!! Comment: My experience with Danish, Tony, and Sergio was an experience as a customer I could only wish for when buying their very first Toyota! My family and I went into Penske and started to look at Toyota Highlander’s with Danish. We saw a beautiful 2024 Highlander xle that I have had my eyes on for quite some time now. We went ahead test drove the car with Danish, had an amazing experience doing so and just fell in love with the car. We decided to close out the deal and get the car! As we all know how long signing all the paper work can be, getting approval from the banks and finalizing the deal. Danish Tony and Sergio were so patient with us, very helpful, knowledgeable with all questions we had, and so positive through out this car buying experience. I could never thank all 3 gentleman enough for that night we brought home a dream vehicle for my family and I. I will definitely recommend Penske Toyota to any friends and family that are looking for an amazing experience and a Toyota!!

Comment: The worst service possible. I called a week in advance to make an appointment for a recall. I asked the person who answered the phone if the part was available, she told me that it was. I called off work to take my vehicle over first thing in the morning. I get there sign the papers and the guy attending me offer a complimentary wash which I thought was nice of them. 3 hours later I get a called saying that the part was out of stock and they I had to reschedule. I was extremely bothered because I had wasted time and money. To make it worst the van wasnt even washed! I not even a sorry for the inconvenience from the people working there! Dont come here take your service somewhere where they care.

Comment: Danish, please! That’s the words that should come out of your mouth if you’re looking for a Toyota at Penske. Danish (that’s his actual name) is everything you want in a car salesman: straightforward, attentive, helpful and funny, too. Seriously, I had such a bad experience with three other Toyota dealerships that I willingly paid $1,000 more at Penske because my guy told me that Danish and the rest of the team wouldn’t pull any tricks in either the negotiating or financing process.And I was right! It couldn’t have gone smoother. In fact, the main thing that slowed me down was my own waffling between leasing and purchase. During the whole process, Danish and his management were patient and helpful. And don’t get me wrong — I got a good deal on my brand new RAV4 Prime: just not a deal that’s “too good to be true” :)This morning, one day after the sale —and true to his word — Danish reached out to personally pick me up so I could retrieve my second vehicle left at the dealership. More important, I believe he will be there for me to help with any issues as I get to know this beautiful, hi-tech vehicle.Go Penski!

They charge me for my filter I have Toyota care and it should’ve been covered once again I tried to reach out to reimbursed my money with no luck. I haven’t heard nothing then recently I took it to my service again and they were going to charge me. not quite sure what’s going on I tried to speak with the manager. She hasn’t gotten back to me at this point I’m going to call corp. also they did not rotate my tires . my tires are very worn out from the front and i know they did not rotate my tires because I had issues on the back tire and I let them know . Second time Ive been here and I should have learned the first time. They have no clue what they are doing. Stay clear of this place. they say they have fast service and now I know why because they just glance and dont do there job correctly. please read the agreement with the service you are going to get. they mentioned that in my servicethat I agree that they have completed all the necessary service, which that I never read. that was my biggest mistake not readingwhat I was signing, I trusted in what they told me major mistake .

Even when we need to negotiate the price, they dont have a room for that, and costumers can only stand in front of the counter to negotiate, while they sit inside; otherwise, we sit in the lobby, and their manager needs to go back to print a piece of paper with price from time to time and leaves us aside. It takes a long time to negotiate the price. They will give a discount of a few hundred dollars each time when the manager leaves to print out another paper. In fact, it is a complete waste of time.They dont provide free snacks. I dont feel respected here.I dont recommend here.

I received my car back but the noise was still there even when they brought my car out. Advisor told me it would cost me 300 dollar for them to inspect it because its not part of the routine. Brought my car to another Toyota dealership and their advisor immediately noticed and said its the back breaks (just based on seeing my car and hearing it). And breaks are part of the point inspection, so there was no reason why Penske denied me the service. Advisors here are unprofessional and clearly want to milk more money out of their customers. After this visit we decided to move our cars to a different dealership and let our friends and family to avoid this place.

Ive taken my vehicle to 2 other dealerships near my new home and they dont come close to the great experience and service that Ive received here at Penske. So I drove almost 2hrs to come in today and they didnt disappoint. Employees here are knowledgeable and friendly. In the past, one worker thought of looking into if my service was under warranty which I didnt think of and it was and he saved me $2k. Today service was quick and workers work in a unit which one employee saw me waiting and proceeded to help me. However I had an appointment already with Danish. Danish had a great attitude and explained everything I had questions about. He didn’t push me to anything I didn’t want, gave me time to make my own decisions and was straightforward. Once I had made my mind I was helped by Vu Trang with financing and by far I had never had such a smooth and easy process. Comment: I was leaving Stonewood mall and I noticed in very large letters “Free Estimates”, it’s written on their wall at least twice in big bold lettering. I recently was involved in a small accident and I needed an estimate so I drive on trough for an estimate. As an owner of three Toyota vehicles, I’m loyal to the brand so I wanted a Toyota specialist to look at my vehicle. The female secretary gave a whole lot of conversation in which essentially telling me that they do not give free estimates. I told her that the business is using shady tactics as they are not honoring what they say they would do. She was indifferent as to what I had to say, and just carried on with other tasks. All I know is that when it’s time to upgrade one of my vehicles, I surely won’t go to this dealership. If they can’t uphold their word on this simple transaction, what else won’t they do for their customers. Incidentally I went to another body shop in the area and got a “free estimate”. It wasn’t so hard as all they did was look at a vehicle, run some numbers on a computer and give me a copy of the estimate. They actually gave me two, one for me and another for the person that hit me, that is called basic customer service.

Comment: I was helped by Steven, my check engine light came on randomly so I took my car in for an appointment as soon as I noticed. The diagnostic fee to check engine was $208 and it turned out that I hadn’t fully closed my gas cap and it caused my sensors to come. Steven made sure my car was taken care of and waived the fee, great customer service! This is the only Toyota in So Cal that I have found that I trust and they offer great service.

Comment: Took a persons camry for mechanical services on a tow trailer and a fella in a red shirt in the service department i didnt get his name due to not wearing name tag gave me the thumbs up and said its ok to unload the vehicle wher i was in the service carport area that person who ever he was was very kind nice. As soon as im half way unloading the none running vehicle of the trailer bed( SHANE ☑️) is his name i asked multiple workers there to verify his name a Caucasian white male wearing the same red shirt as the guy that gave me the thumbs up to unload the vehicle there, Shane comes out of nowhere very upset with me using profanity extremely rude yelling at me as if i knew the guy becouse im blocking the vehicles from driving up to the service area,that it was getting backed up blocked, i was very kind at first with Shane putting up with his extreme rudeness and garbage yelling and faul language...i explain to him in a calm manner that another of his teammates wearing the red shirt as him gave me the go to unload and explain to him if he can help with pushing the vehicle.. he denied and watched me and another guy wearing glasses push it. The guy that gave me the go agreed to calling over a few techs to push the vehicle but the techs never came. I was so thrown of and shocked how out of the blue SHANE CAME AT ME with such garbage character and attitude. When shane was angry his entire face was so cherry red and got very agressive with me that he seemed like he wanted to do a act of violence against me i had to get in a state wher i was prepared to defend my self physically in case. The owner off the vehicle said she was going to try to report him to a high ranking dealer manager to make shure this doesnt happen with another guest. Service department needs to have better communication with their employees team to avoid such insane incidents as with this with Shane so everyone is on topic and knows what is going on... Shane should not be employed if he is going to get hot head and loose his temper who knows what shane is capable of please make sure the main dealer manager reads this i would hate for this to happen to another client. Comment: I called to get a key made with the parts department. They would not make it for me even though I had legal documents proving I am the owner of the vehicle. The part person Alfonso kept saying they couldn’t do it and said his manger wouldn’t do it without attempting to ask when I asked for him to do see David Ramos the manager denied the request as well. If I have all proper documentation that I’ve used in the past at other locations why would they not do it. Maybe because I didn’t want them to connect it in the service department. Not helpful at all.

Comment: Samuel Cava was very helpful during my time at Penske Toyota in Downey. I appreciated how he took the time to explain the importance of getting the services recommended after the inspection of my car. The staff were very welcoming and kind. I was there for most of my day waiting for my car since I had different things to get work done on. I waited in their waiting room and I was happy to see they had vending machines, plenty of outlets, and wifi that allowed me to keep myself busy while I was there. I was extremely happy when I drove off with my car and had everything fixed and ready to drive. I also saw Erick who was right across the counter where Samuel’s desk was at. Another staff member who also takes customer service above and beyond.

As a women, I am usually scared to go to mechanics by myself and running the risk of getting ripped off. Comment: This review is for the parts department. I recommend never coming here they treat you like absolute trash. I went in to buy an oil filter which should have been a simple process. I went up and told the employee Alfonso Plasencia what type of oil filter I needed. He came back out with the incorrect one and when I asked if it was for a 2.4 liter engine he told me yes and I knew he was wrong. After explaining to him to him that this was not the correct filter he finally went back and got the correct one. I asked him the difference between the two and he said no difference they are the same which is completely untrue. I had to go to another Toyota to verify it was in fact the correct filter. If you want to be disrespected and looked down upon I suggest you go to Penske Toyota they know how to create a hostile environment.

Comment: Horrible experience!!Have a 2016 RAV4 that key remote stopped working. Obviously we changed battery and did not work. the dealer representative told us they could not figure out what was wrong and I need it to purchase new KEY to see if this will work 625 dollars and not sure if this will work. I told him if he can change only the remote to see if that was the problem and he said this can not be done. I left and drove to key place on gardendale and Lakewood and the guy changed both of my remotes with programing included for 180 for two keys… never will come back to dealer again !!!!

I’ve always been hesitant about having work done by the dealer for fear of being treated as a dollar sign instead of a human being and with this experience I can genuinely say that was not the case.

Comment: This review is for the parts department. For starters, the parts are all extremely overpriced, but of course that’s not something in their control (find 3rd party vendors). What is in their control is their expertise and customer service, which is both severely lacking. I ordered a small part which took months to arrive. I asked for a call back upon arrival, which they agreed to. I call a month to follow up, still not there. Several more and no call. I call to find out if its there, and there is no trace of my order. I show up with my invoice as proof to pick up my part. I let the guy know that I never got called, and he said they are too busy to call (Dave Ramos). Why promise that then? Not only that, as a basic rule of customer service, you should apologize for a delay, even if it isn’t your fault. There are plenty of third party retailers that can provide genuine OEM parts or even better alternatives with good service. Save your time and money and don’t rely on this shop.

I was literally charged for a new ignition coil and all they did was move my already existent coils around 🤯 And then when I pointed it out the guy just laughed and literally shrugged. I even called the supervisor and she very sarcastically told me to just sue them if I wanted my money back! It’s sad because this place used to be awesome. And I was going to take them to small claims, but I just don’t have the time. Go to a different dealership.

Best deals anywhere on tires hands down, and I looked everywhere around the whole LA area.I will drive a long ways just to get service here because it’s hard to find a place like this. Everyone is helpful, professional, and competent. They did a great job of installing my tires and aligning them! They even washed my truck, and cleaned it really well. My local dealership won’t wash vehicles.Esteban is a really nice guy and knows his Toyotas and cars in general. He was happy to answer all my questions about my vehicle and options I have for it, since it is new to me.The dealership itself is very clean and has lots of room to work or just lounge. They must have good management and be picky about hiring because every single person I met there was genuinely friendly and helpful. Definitely going back!

They need to bring back the vans to take you home and the people who wash your car... they could at the minimum dry it or why bother it is left all water stained. Comment: I came here for the first time just to drop off my boyfriends truck for maintenance and from what I saw they only had one sign saying appointment line and no other sign saying non appointment line or anything so assumed everyone was just going to be in one lane then I see people being helped before me which brought my attention and I got off the car because I had been waiting for like 15min and no one came up to me or a knowledged me. I asked the girl politely like excuse me am I supposed to check in and she responds in a rude tone of voice like just wait I’m your car and they’ll help you. Like okay thanks??? There’s a way to respond to people and that was definitely unnecessary. I understand for people who come here often for their maintenance they know where to go but these employees also have to think about those who never do and we already feel a bit lost why not just have good customer service and help them out.

He continued to keep me in the loop regarding the specific car I’ve been looking for and its arrival. What also made him stand out was that he knew I’ve been waiting for this car and he held the car for me even though he could not guarantee I was actually going to buy the car. Without fail, we get a coupon for a discounted service special that expires that same month. The only problem is that we had just completed the same service the month prior.Why is it that your marketing does this? It seems pointless, and really frustrating because by the time the service is due again, the coupon expired!My old review was 4 stars in 2019:The only reason I havent put that I love this place is because I havent purchased a vehicle here as of yet. I have serviced my Toyotas for the past 20 years at both DTLA and Culver City Toyotas and I must say that Downey Toyota is the most reasonably priced and offers the greatest service and value.I especially like the attention to detail in providing the customer the book of service visit that explains recommendations and things that are going great with the clients vehicle. Thats a great touch guys. Oh...the exterior car wash was awesome!My 2020 review 5 Stars:So in January Dan helped me get my kids 2020 Corolla. Comment: This was seriously the easiest car buying experience I have ever had. I was going to buy a Wrangler the day before and the dealerships were making it so tough and such an awful experience that we gave up. We decided we’ll try a Tacoma TRD instead and after spending over a month trying to find the right Jeep, Ruben Bustamante found me my perfect truck and had us driving off the lot in it within 4 hours. All it took was a call and he immediately jumped on it and send the out of the door price with honestly the best price by far in Southern California. Christian Solis in finance was unbelievably great also. The most unlikeable part of the car buying process is heading into those finance offices, Christian was fantastic and didn’t push any of the warranties. Honestly these guys will be where we buy everything from now on and I will recommend everyone I come in contact with.

He was polite and even had the technician do a visual inspection, they found a problem with one of the engine belts and even quoted me for parts. Now I can expect more life out of my car. Comment: My wife and I doubled up on back to back service and repairs for our Camry and Avalon and we couldn’t be happier with every aspect of Penske Toyota from reception to parts to service department. Everything was great. We especially appreciate that the parts and service department is open later than some of the other Toyota dealerships in the area. Our service consultant Cesar Medina took care of our requirements on both occasions, and we couldn’t be happier with his performance and friendly service.
