I come here all the time, my fav PepBoys in SoCal!!! but this time in particular, they really helped me get back on the road safely. They both went above and beyond for me! I can never thank them enough. They are always busy here, and I always leave them my car with them for the whole day, as I know they do their best - but why not have one customer that isn’t rushing you? Anyways, although they are always busy and under pressure, they never treat me any different. They’re always nice and if they get interrupted, they always apologize and excuse themselves. 100 out of 100 customer service score!!!! I love them!!!

I had scheduled an appointment for a tire repair and I was checked in, did the year and model and mileage and when entered the office I picked up a clip board to fill out the paper work only to be yelled at because it was the wrong one. After she did say it’ll be 45 minutes to be seen and I said that was a long time and don’t get why appointments are made and she replied with a smart remark like, when you go to a doctors appointment don’t you wait? I told her I’ll wait and if I can go to the link I was sent to write the survey of how my service went, she got mad because I had said this so folds my paper and sad she’ll not conduct business with me so thanks and not only could I write how my business went with this particular woman/receptionist on the survey but now she gets a fantastic review on Google and yelp. I took my business to Hal’s auto and tire repair shop on 3598 Mission Ave, Oceanside, CA 92058 and the service was fast and excellent with only two technicians available.

Comment: I made an appointment only to have them try to up sell work that had already been done (which is why I wanted an alignment, cause I just had work done). Ultimately they did not preform the alignment which was fine besides wasting my time cause I went to Firestone and got the work done cheaper. If you need an alignment I recommend Firestone they did not try up sell any services and did a great job with the alignment.

Comment: The first truly professional job I’ve had done in two years. Big Mike helped me and he was amazing. I came in for an oil change and break change (potentially). I thought my breaks were ready to be changed based on my last maintenance at Fiat in Santa Monica, where they told me the breaks were in the yellow. Turned out they didnt need to he changed. I’ve also been hearing a squeaky noise when braking at low speeds since just after having those same breaks installed. Every place I’ve been to in two years has told me they can’t recreate the sound and its not coming from the breaks. Big Mike took the breaks off and showed me exactly what might be causing the noise, and also cleaned out a bunch of debris that had accumulated. Guess what, the squeak went away. FINALLY!!! He went above and beyond and I can’t express how much I appreciate that. Highly recommend!

I took my car for an oil change and it was in great shape and now Im having suspension problems or something else. I havent diagnosed it. I had to take it back to have the plastic oil pan cover put on properly and now a whole new problem when It was just there. Very dissatisfied and I saw them driving my car very non carefully but this was after they said it was already parked up front.I will never be coming back to this place. I arrive at my time for the appointment to be told that they can’t see me right now because there online system let me and 4 other people pick the same time for the appointment and they told me to drop my car off or reschedule for later in the day. So I said I’ll reschedule. I came back 4 hours later for my new appointment to be told that they can’t do the full service unless I drop off my car because they don’t have enough lifts to rotate my tiers which is the reason I picked this shop for an oil change. Honestly I’ll just do the service my self at this point. The scheduling system for customers seems to be a joke and management needs to figure out staffing because both times I was at the shop the employees complained about being under staffed and not taking their lunch breaks.

I called the day they were delivered to the shop to confirm my appointment and they said everything looked good. I called the day before my appointment and they reassured me once again that everything was ready for the next day. I arrived and the first thing i was asked was what type of wheels are you installing. I knew something want right at that point. They are wheels, right? What kind of question is this? I explained everything and the answer was that they would not be able to do the install because Im afraid my technicians will scratch your new rims. She also said its against their policy to install wheels with no tires (combo). Even after i explained how i called twice before my appointment, she said the other lady who answered my call doesnt work there..... To all the other reviewers who gave it a good reviews good luck with your car. These guys cant be trusted at all. She offered a free oil change for the inconvenience. No thank you!

When putting in oil, we accidentally overfilled the Subaru. Oops. 😬 Knowing it could ruin the engine, we made an appt to get it checked. My mom arrived to her appt at the wrong location. Oops again, lol. 🤦‍♀️ She was able to get to this location a few minutes late and they were still happy to help. 🙌Not only was the customer service amazing, but they changed the oil, rotated the tires, changed the windshield wipers, checked the rest of the fluids, in under 90 minutes (which was what we were told it would take). All of it combined cost less than when we had the oil changed a couple months ago in our area.We were so impressed with this location that now our family who all live here, will also be bringing their cars there in the future.A big thank you to the team at this Pep Boys, for a wonderful, painless, experience! Comment: Not a bad selection inside and weren’t rude but my truck was making a noise and they told me it was my rack and pinion assembly and that my brakes had sum leaking on them and the needed to be changed out completely. However I decided to take it to Toyota instead and they said it is my both my front wheel bearings and rear differential. When my father told pep boys this they said they had a work order for this which wasn’t true because they only had a flush to be done to it as I had my paper work for my quote and they never even took my truck in the back to later think it was my diff. Toyota also told my my brakes had no leaks and nothing leaking on them, no rack and pinion issues at all and they told me they aren’t gunna change any of my brakes cause they aren’t work close to the estate of needing to be done so.

Danny seemed like he did not wanted to work because he said you tried to watch any YouTube videos end quote. He was just very rude and didnt seem like he wanted to help out. At the end of the day we just went to another store. I dont recommend this place at all. Theres other places with better customer services.

Comment: The only reason Im even giving ONE star is because they said they were helping me, a homeless, jobless, disabled veteran, to help make the repairs they were doing more affordable! However, they didnt DO any repairs. They tightened some boots, and added some flat washers where an extra long bolt was used, and charged me over a thousand dollars. But, in doing so, they made the initial dangerous problem SO much MORE dangerous, that when I took it out on the road, my vehicle got such a dangerous and EXTREMELY POWERFUL shake, that I had to stop the vehicle immediately on the freeway, putting me in great peril. I then took my vehicle to Off Road Warehouse, where they inspected it, and showed me that ALL my shocks were REALLY bad, and ALL my control arms were BROKEN!!! Youd THINK those issues would be caught by the mechanic at Pepboys. So... Looking back at this post, I believe there should be a 0 in the rating system!!!!!

Asked the tech to adjust my parking brake because 1) I forgot to ask them before hand and 2) It was supposed to ensure that they actually took the tire off and did a thorough inspection. They told me they didnt hear the squeeking when they drove it, that the pads and rotors look fine, and that I probably just need a beefier braking system to compensate for my 35 inch tires. Ive had 35s for years without this problem and know many other people with 35s as well. Got in my truck to leave and discovered the parking brake wasnt adjusted but they instead decided to adjust my seat and passenger side tow mirror. If you have tow mirrors, you know how annoying that is to have to adjust the manual portion by yourself. The guys inside were polite, though, and did give me military discount, so I ended up wasting a little over $13 and 3 hours of my day with nothing to show for it but still squeeking brakes, no parking brake, an out of whack tow mirror, and needing to readjust my seat. Not what I would call a pleased customer

Comment: I had a coolant leak on my 2008 bmw 328i so i went to this pep boys to get a leak test done. It was a reasonable price i think, only $35. So they contacted me and said there is a leak in the upper radiator hose and also the water pump. This would cost $1382 to fix. He then said that the car has 2 water pumps, an electronic one and a belt driven one and the one that needs replacing is the belt driven one. I was surprised because i thought my car only had an electronic one. So i looked in my repair manual and sure enough there is only an electronic water pump. So i looked up the part number for the water pump they gave me and it was an electronic water pump. So they lied straight to my face and tried to scam me out of $1000+. So later that day i took apart the splash guard under the car and looked for leaks. I saw that the radiator hose was leaking really bad but no leak from the water pump. So i went to the auto parts store and purchased a radiator hose and installed it. Now i have no more leaking. I believe honesty is the more important aspect of being human and at least one person at this pep boys is not honest and will try to rip you off. I do not recommend going to this pep boys to get repairs done.

Comment: First things first the for the four stars is not the people who work there but the generic copy and paste when they get a poor review but for the people who worked on my vehicle just amazing I probably called every hour my vehicle is like a kid to me and they took great care of it they had it done when they said they would never rude willing to explain things I will be recommending them to friends I have no idea why they had bad reviews seems like a rival shop to me

Comment: Carrier bearing replace for a 99 f250 SD. Brought it in, they told me its about a couple hours. They call me back in 20 telling me it needed a press and they didnt have the equipment. A little bit of research showed me its typically done with highly specialized piece of equipment called a BEARING PULLER. So if Youre looking for floor mats or shiny bits for your can...they aight.

I called Alex who Priced matched and gave me AAA service when I arrived, he also had the mechanic perform overall checklist on my van to see what else might need attention. We added an oil and windshield change-out too. Im going back today for new tires on my truck because I was so pleased from my last experience. To Alex and mechanic team Thank you!!!

Comment: Completely unprofessional.I come in Tuesday to have my car repaired, and Alejandro told me their diagnostic guy doesnt comein till Thursday. I ask them to go ahead and check in my car to put me in the que. Alejandro said dont worry about it, well take care of you on Thursday. I come in early Thursday morning, and they tell me that they are completely booked and ask me to schedule an appointment?What kind of management system is this? Like heck id trust them with my car.
