Comment: Worse experience Ive had getting an oil change. Dropped off my vehicle @930am didnt get it back till 9am the next day! I called at 1pm for an update, all they said was it needed an air filter. Started to call the last hour of them being open and got nothing. I ended up missing a day of work cause i had no transportation or tools. The store manager Charlie.....wow! And Ill leave it at that.

Comment: Store was horrible!! The manager (heavy set Hispanic guy) was not running his store well. He was the only one up front working and the store was empty when I came in. Long story short he argues with a customer who came in after me for about 10 minutes then gets back on his computer and dosent even acknowledge me after Ive been there 40 mins and filled out the Lyft inspection form just to be told if Im in a time crunch to come back another time, for a simple inspection and not one car in any of the bays

Comment: I was at the Whittier location on May 6th to install 4 new tires. I ordered the tires online on May 3th and received confirmation. When I arrived they did not have the tires in stock. Something went wrong with the order. Joshua was the representative that assisted me that day. He went above and beyond to fix the issue, get the tires, and have them installed all the same day. This is great customer service. He kept me posted when the tires arrived and had the car ready just like he said. Joshua made it a very positive experience and I would recommend this Pep Boys location to anybody who wants quick, easy, reliable service. Great job to everybody at this location. They are a great team!

My husband took my car in to this PB location on Washington Blvd to get a decent amount of work done a while back. Tires, alignment, all brakes/rotors replaced. When we went to pick up the car, 3 of my rim caps were missing. They never found them, but said they would comp the next oil change. So today my husband brings in the car for the free oil change and none of the same guys work there, and they refused to honor the oil change at no charge.So disappointing. My husband always goes there and told them he will not be using them anymore. The guy that helped him couldnt care less. WOW!! Great customer service from a very large company.

Comment: Pretty sure what Pep Boys did to us was illegal.In short, they refused to repair a flat tire with a temp repair because (and I quote), “We didn’t find a leak”. Although I mentioned several times there was a temp liquid patch. They kept the vehicle for five hours and did nothing.The following day I had to drive to work and on the freeway going 50mph, I got a violent vibration. This was due to the liquid used for the temporary patch. It caused the tire to no longer be balanced, because (again) it was only for temporary purposes to go to a tire repair place and get a proper repair done.But hey, they couldn’t find a leak, although I informed them there was a hole. They allowed my wife to drive it off the lot in that state at closing and had no choice but to drive it home.Pretty sure that’s not allowed and they knew it when I went in the next day and told them off. They suddenly “no longer wanted to repair the tire” releasing them of any possible further liability. Sketchy.

Comment: I took my vehicle here about a week ago to try and get an oil change. A worker (Jay) tells me they can’t do the service because my oil pan bolt is stripped because the car is old. He also tried to say it was stripped by whoever worked on it before. He quotes me to replace the bolt and pan. After leaving the shop, my car begins to leak oil in my driveway (never had oil leaking before that visit). I filed a corporate complaint and no one from this location contacted me within the 24-48 hour Pep Boys protocol. Corporate then escalated my case as a lack of communication report. No one responded that same day per the Pep Boys protocol. I call corporate again who confirmed that, still, no one is responding to the complaint. I call the shop location afterwards and a manager (Richard) answers the phone. He tells me he wasn’t able to speak with the mechanic for days. That was never communicated to corporate nor myself the entire time I waited for a response under the company policy. He further tells me that my “stripped bolt” was hard to remove. He also tried to tell me my car was already leaking oil which, again, my car has never leaked oil. He did tell me they went above and beyond to cover their end which is exactly what it seems like because this doesn’t sound like customer service at all.

Christian informed me they didn’t have my tire in stock as of yesterday, however he said he could get for me next day and install. When I arrived next day my tire was already ready to go on my rim, and it was quickly put on. They even went as far as checking all my tires pressure and ensured they were all at the correct psi. Alex is very professional and always thorough with explaining exactly what repairs are needed on your vehicle. I took my vehicle in for a check engine diagnosis and within an hour got a call back from Alex with a description of the needed repairs and the cost to get it done. Even though I took the car in close to 3 pm on a Saturday, Alex did his best to make sure the repairs were done timely so I can have my vehicle back before they closed. We were stranded with my best friend - had a flat tire (very specific one on a Mini) and it was less than an hour before they were closing on the night of Dec 30th. A few other shops refused to take us in and help because it was an hour before their closing time. They took us in, the manager Joe was leaving when they called him and he came back and did everything possible to help us. He didn’t have what we needed in stock and after trying for almost an hour he was leaving again when he remembered he might have it in one of the showcases or something so he did find and and they were able to replace the tire so the car was temporarily drivable. He treated us like family! The whole team stayed overtime to help us! It is so amazing to meet and interact with caring people like that! Thank you Joe, Nathan, Jessica and everyone else that I might not know the name of who helped us. Keep up the amazing work and attitude!

Comment: Made an appointment for 10 am its now 3 pm and was told in 45 minutes well work on your car. Its now 4 pm I called back to see if it was beign looked at and they said no. After cancelling the work on it, and going to pick it up the manager Joe offered me a free engine diagnostic for my car which is why I brought it in. Not bad but now I have to drive around with the check engine light on for another day since its 5 pm and all the small shops around me keep telling me come back tommorow.

Comment: Please, hear me, then read the other 1 star reviews - they ring true with my experience. I feel it is my civic responsibility to write this review to warn others of the fraud perpetrated on me by this shop.My Lincoln LS wouldnt start. I thought it might be the battery so I called AAA roadside service to come out and start the car, test the battery and maybe replace the battery if needed. Fortunately, the AAA tech had quality (load testing) battery testing equipment on his truck. He looked at the battery, battery connections, etc. and after thoroughly testing the battery determined that the battery was like new, 100%. He then checked the starter motor and determined that it had failed.I called this Pep Boys spoke with Adrian and he quoted me $312 out the door to remove and replace the starter. (** I later found out that this is $60 higher than a reputable highly rated shop down the road **) I dropped the car off with Nick on Sunday evening, I reiterated that I was quoted $312 out the door for the R&R Starter job and he went to the computer, checked and confirmed that would be my price.On Monday I called to see how the repairs were going and the guy on the phone said, hey, your battery is no good... (remember, AAA just thoroughly load tested the 1 year old premium quality battery when they determined the starter was bad) so I replied, But AAA just checked it on Sunday and it was fine! He said, well I dont know what they did but its no good now. So I told him, just jump start it, I will deal with the battery myself when I get the car home - its under a replacement warranty... Needless to say, when we went to pick up the car it started right up and there is nothing wrong with the battery.I called on Tuesday to pickup the car and Adrian said it would be ready in a little bit and the bill would be just under $400! To which I said No Adrian you told me $312 out the door and Nick confirmed it when we dropped the car off - furthermore, I never authorized any additional work. He started telling me about inspection this and extra that and then when he could see I wouldnt go for a penny more, he tried to make it sound like he was adjusting the bill.This isnt the worst of it - put on your seat belt! So my wife picks up the car which started right up and then heads out onto the street calls me on the phone to tell me the car started right up, no problem with the battery so far and then she says - Hey honey, my lights dont work! Funny thing is that before AAA towed it, they checked all of the lights, tail, turn signal and brake lights. Now none of them worked.Clearly, when I wouldnt go for the extra charges in my phone call, they had plenty of time to sabotage my car during the 3 hours before we picked it up. I have no doubt this is what happened, not only did the tow truck driver check the lights before he towed it to Pep Boys, but we had no prior problem ourselves. This is how they assure they can pad the bill, you drive out onto the street, the turn signals dont work, they hope you will turn around and come right back so they can ream you again.Stay as far away as you can, they are the worst kind of people. I dont know how they can sleep at night. My employer warned me not to take the car to Pep Boys, but I was in a hurry to get it fixed as my wife needs for work and I was thinking of her. If I knew then what I know now I would never have let them touch my car. The time, money and aggravation is ridiculous. I thought I would have the car back for her sooner but now it needs to go into the shop again to fix the lights they sabotaged. So the full measure of damages has yet to be determined.I will be reporting these snakes to the BBB, the State of California Automotive Repair Board, the Pep Boys Corporate offices, and any other agency I can find to make certain the thievery is stopped.

Comment: Had a battery installed in our car. Service was a little confusing, and the workers were not very helpful to find where we needed to be. We made it, and the battery seems to work well.

Comment: Had an appointment at 11am 30 minutes later car is still not in the stall. 30 minutes appointments for oil change is false advertising I was here early just to make sure I would be out in 30 since I do need to go back to work. Only reason I can here was because vehicle is company issued and maintenance plan had Pep Boys as an option next time Ill just go to Valoline or Jiffy Lube. Oh there 30 minutes are up and car still not in the stall.

Comment: Came here for a simple battery change and messed that up. I specifically came to Pep boys to change my battery so that they can use the car memory machine so the idle on the can would not change. There machine was not working but they change the battery anyways. After changing the battery of course the idle on my car was too low causing my car to shut off. The maintenance man re-started my car several times and would rev the engine violently and told me that would fix it.I this place cant handle a simple battery change out, I would not trust them with anything else.
