So I guess to keep business, they make sure your car is more broken than when you arrive. Took it in for front breaks, a month later I found out my rear breaks also need work. (Wish I was told then) Also, their mechanic broke the hood latch and didnt bother to repair it. Dont waste your time or money.
If i can go lower then 1 star i would, i thought i was getting a good deal, but i didnt i got my car back everything looked good until i cleaned it and there was a curb rash on my rim, which was not there when i brought it, i love my car to much i would never mess up the rims and they are brand new. Unacceptable DO NOT GO HERE
I came in on a Tuesday around 4:30pm for a nail in my tire and my car was fixed and ready to be picked up by 5:30pm!! The man at the front desk, I believe his name was Dee, was an angel. This was the quickest and most friendly service I have ever received from a car maintenance place. Thank you so much!!
PB was supposed to run a diagnostic on my AC system, missed the large leak in the rear condenser unit, but swear they did a full visual check and there’s no way they could have put the large gouge in my driver door that was present when I picked my vehicle up … $146 system recharge, leak not found or fixed and a nice going away prize in the form of a deep paint job scratch. Won’t be going back. Guess that’s what I get for not bringing it into the dealership in the first place. Lesson learned.
Pep boy is on 17 Mile and VanDyke very professional very quick also let you know about the promotions theyre very good and Im going to come back every time even if my car needs repair trust me these people are the best good customer service nice waiting room quick and get things done that thats where I want to go
I was out looking for a tire shop that was open on a Sunday and it had been raining all day so I wasnt able to see just how badly their parking lot was in need of repair. Well, I drove right into an extra deep pothole and the sound it made was not good. I was pretty annoyed, but went in anyway to see if I could get my tire looked at without an appointment. I didnt wait long at the counter before someone appeared, but was told Id have to come back the next day since they were booked solid. Understandable, but the attitude was like we cant help you, now leave. I did not return the next day and definitely will not consider Pep Boys ever again!
Went in to get car fixed for one thing, picked up my car and now their is another issue after driving off. Do not trust them, or feel safe after leaving there. Been to previous locations before. Would not recommend Sterling Heights, very rude customer service, and overpriced. Next time I need something fixed I’ll go elsewhere.
I took my car there twice already in 3 weeks. They told me the first time that they had to replace a bunch of hoses in my car. They then proceeded to charge me $852.89 and managed to put the wrong hoses on my car. I took it back to them because the problem that I brought in my car for became a problem again. They then told me that my coolant and oil were mixed so I took it to another mechanic that told me that my coolant and oil never mixed and that it was the mistake of Pep Boys that made my car worse. The other mechanic fixed the mistake made by this Pep Boys. They said with them putting in the wrong hose it messed my car up even more to the point where it is screwing up my head gasket. I called here was put on hold and told the manager is in a meeting and will call me right back. As of this moment it is 3 hours later and still haven’t gotten a call back. This service is an absolute joke and they should be held accountable for their actions!
This place is 100% recommended. I have been a regular customer for almost 3years. They literally wanted the best care for you and your bank situation. I have been to a bunch of car shops and they would just try to trick me into getting extra services fixed. In this place , they dont do that . Also the customer service is just beyond awesome. They are super knowledgeable about car , so you are in good hand.I highly recommend that you make an appointment to get your car fixed here .
Went in for a warranty battery replacement on 3/11/19. At first my experience was going quite pleasant. My bad battery was warranted and they said it would be about 30 minutes. after the 30 minutes was up they came to inform me that it would be an extra cost for the replacement when another location confirmed a lower price. thus implying that no work was done in the 30 minutes it took to realize they had to remove the seat. The mechanic working on my vehicle stated Thats why you should by american; you wouldnt be having this problem. Finally an hour and a half later the car was finished as i was getting into my car i noticed immediately that the trim covers to bolts in the front of the seat were missing. I was told that there were none when the car was taken in which i new for a fact was not the case. the trim pieces were found in their shop. then today (two weeks after the service). I noticed that my Drivers seat was not anchored back down. Thus resulting in a significant safety hazard. I now have to go to my my trusted mechanic to repair these mistakes as I do not trust the work of Pep boys. I would like to know what Pep Boys is going to do to make this right?
Appointment times do not mean anything. My appointment was for 11 am and I was checked in at 1045am. My car was not taken back to have my winter tires put on until 1220 after I had asked how much longer it would be. The employees also thought I didnt want the tires that were being switched out. Ive missed another appointment because Im still here. First and Last time I will ever come here.after waiting for over 3 hours my car was done. I was told when I made the appointment that it would be $16 per tire. I was not informed of a tire handling fee. After I missed an appointment scheduled for after my appointment at pep boys, I should have been treated with a little more respect and offered a discount or the fee waived. Nothing like that happened. The only thing I was given was a very poor apology for the wait. Poor customer service and uncaring employees. Never again will I visit this or any other location
I have been to this store a couple of different times and had a great experience each time I came. The first time, I just went for an oil change and found the the staff to be very respectful, friendly, and courteous. (An uncommon experience for me, whenever taking my vehicle in to a repair shop) They did a good job with the oil change and also did a thorough job inspecting my vehicle for any potential issues. They found a couple things and provided recommendations on how much longer each issue could go before absolutely needing a repair, instead of trying to scare me into getting it done immediately and charging me for it. (Another uncommon experience when going to a repair shop.) I had them do some of the additional repair work for me and they got it done quickly and for a very reasonable price.Recently, I brought my vehicle back because of a lower ball joint problem. (I needed the repair done quickly on a weekend, to prepare for a roadtrip. And, this was the only place I knew that is open on Sundays!) Again, the staff was great to work with. They did another thorough job inspecting my vehicle and found additional issues with another ball joint and a control arm. (Work I dont have the tools or time to fix). Again, the repair was done quickly and for a very reasonable price.Keep up the good work!
Worst service ever. They never rotated my tires and they said the check engine light is just a sensor problem. Come to find out there is an issue. Would never recommend anyone to go pep boys and the service teams needs to fired immediately. They will cut corners and charge you a lot to make it seems they know what they are talking about. Uneducated individuals that work in the service department. Pep boys company is horrible and needs to re-evaluate their business or close their doors!
Scheduling an appointment online is pointless.I showed up at 7:45am for my 8am appointment to have some tires installed. Was told the tire tech wouldnt be in until 11am. So I ask why wasnt I called or notified of that and was told that they dont see the appointments in the system until the day of?? Sounds like a broken system. How can you plan for a tire install the morning of the appointment? Should at least have a better system in place internally if you want to take appointments online. Left and went to Belle Tire. Had them installed within the hour.
Ive taken 3 different cars here over a span of 9 years. Theyve always been respectful, honest and as accommodating as possible. Blaise in the shop is a good guy, always helpful. This location is pretty big so theres a ton of items in stock and the waiting area for service was recently updated.
Extremely fair and accommodating, this particular stores retail-facing service advisor(s) were better than Id expected. Nothing was over-promised, there were no surprises and they simply delivered in a professional manner. Theyre now my first go-to choice with my car repairs.
I’ve had a wonderful experience each time I’ve come here! I love this location because of the employees. The employees are wonderful at chiming in to help, explaining car details in ways that I can understand, which is highly appreciated. Steve is fantastic, doing his absolute best to make the customer happy! He truly cares about each person and has the best intentions for customers! He goes out of his way to ensure 100% satisfaction, and is resourceful when unsure of the answer. Steve is definitely a people-person and creates an excellent experience each time I’ve stopped in with his patience. He has an attention to detail, remembering various customers, and creating a rapport with them. This definitely encourages business and for a positive experience. Thank you for being awesome!
One of my employees had a tire blow out about a quarter of a mile from pep boys in Sterling heights. He drove to pep boys to have the tire fixed. They totally took an advantage of him charging him almost double of what a regular tire would cost and would not even mount it for him he had to buy the jack in the tool to put it on. I do not recommend pep boys to anybody I would go down the road and find a group of nicer people that have compassion and empathy.
Every time I’ve been to Pep Boys I’ve had a great experience. I’ve always been helped very quickly and never have to worry about being there for hours. They offer competitive prices and go through loopholes to give you the best deal out there. They’re honest!! An employee that really stands out is Mark. He is thorough, fast and informative. On multiple occasions he has walked out to my car to check out the problem, fixed my issue in a couple of seconds and smiled and told me “have a nice day.” It is so refreshing to go somewhere that I’m not scared of breaking the bank or wasting my entire evening at. Whether it’s parts or service — this is the place to go.
I ordered aftermarket rims for my car and they told me that it would take the rims about a week to come in, exactly as they said it took a week. They contacted me when they received the rims and i went in and they installed them and rotated my tires in about an hour and a half. A little longer then I thought it would take, but no big deal, they were friendly and did a good job with my wheels. Some of these other reviews sound like people were just having a bad day, these people know what they are doing for most everything about cars. Consider going here for most of your basic car maintenance and friendly and trustworthy service.
Service experience needs improvement for sure. Every time I go there I get an attitude because theyre computer tells them they can only put synthetic in my Ford Mustang, well conventional is all I use and have ever used. I requested a wiper blade replacement; did not receive. They do not have lifts do an oil change takes close to 2 hours and for gods sake I got on M-59 to go home and saw that my hood was never secured; what a joke; I called and requested a manager but was hung up on......never again. This is a legitimate post and I would happy to discuss if a Pep Boys manager would like to contact me absolutely....
Friendly staff and best price for changing a set of sets ordered from tirerack. But two and half hours for them to change them was a bit ridiculous given I was one of the first appointments for the day and nothing was wrong on my vehicle. So if you choose to go with them, plan extra time for waiting.
I came to get a quote for a pre-purchase inspection on my jeep, noting that I wanted it to be as thorough as possible. The staff was less than enthusiastic to help me and didnt offer any suggestions. I was only told that if they were to do one, they likely wouldnt be able to find everything.However, this location has an overwhelmingly expansive parts selection, I had never seen a parts store so large. If you wanted to do your own repairs, detailing or small modifications, they would likely have the right parts to do it.
DO NOT TRUST PEP BOYS! If I could give them negative stars I would. I had to go back THREE different times to get my a/ c fixed because they are incompetent. I requested to get my oil changed and they assured me they did it but sure enough they didnt and charged me for it! My car was making weird noises so when I took in to the dealership a couple weeks after getting an oil change from pep boys they said my oil was extremely low and so dirty which almost destroyed my engine. So thank you pep boys for almost completely destroying my vehicle. This could have cost my thousands. Mark the service manager has failed to check the employee work which has caused all of these problems. Moral of the story is- give your money to another auto service store, it will save you many headaches.
I made an appt to get an alignment Sunday june 16 at 9 AM. As I arrived I was told I would need to leave my car there all day. So I was unable to leave my car there all day as I needed to be at work by noon. So I left and went back the next day at around 11 and they did “align” my car. As I left I noticed that my steering wheel is slightly tilted to the left and when I start accelerating the wheel centers itself and then my car starts pulling to the right. I called and was told to bring it back so they can take a look at it. I took it in today Thursday June 20th and they said they “fixed” it. Once I got back on the road I noticed I had the same issue. I feel like I got ripped off. I paid $150 for the simple reason to have my car fixed! My car has yet to drive in a straight line without me having to keep adjusting my wheel.I will update this review once my issue is resolved.
Went to buy a lifetime alignment and made an appointment for the same day, car was in the bay at the scheduled appointment time and took ~1 hour to complete. Overall, great experience. I would recommend going here over the Clawson location, which made me wait ~4 hours until my car was done, even with a scheduled appointment.
Just came in for the first time to replace a car battery. Took almost two hours and the wrong battery was installed. Paid for a more mid-range Bosch battery and a cheaper Champion was installed. Only caught because I popped the hood to take a look before I pulled out of the parking lot. Swapping it out for the correct battery not but now I am here even longer. Dont know if its just because they were busy or they figured I wouldnt check. FYI if you are getting a new battery here - take a look before you leave to make sure they installed what you paid for.UPDATE: Charged me for a more expensive a second time - a difference of almost $60 between and AGM and non-AGM battery. Only found out because I looked again before I left. Just took the price difference refund because at this point Ive wasted my whole Sunday afternoon at Pep Boys. To be fair the service manager gave me an extra few bucks refund too. However, when I went back out to the car to leave the car wouldnt start. Not even joking. At this point I wish I had never come here and will never come here again.
Horrible service! Made appointment for 11am for a set of 4 tires...my truck sat in the parking lot for an hour then they finally pulled it in , by the way they were slow and no cars on the tire rack being work on ...I finally got out of there at 2:30 pm ...yeah a total of 3.5 hrs ..then the guy behind the counter writing me up joked about it gee I thought he was going to make a career out of your truck. Then only to see they scratched my rims around the lip ..nice scratches on my factory aluminum rims ... Would not recommend them to anyone !!!.
Customer service was awful. Employees are inept. They dont know what time their own store closes, dont know where basic products are kept, unable to answer the simplest questions(ie. Do you sell distilled water, or only half and half coolant mixture?). Products are horribly overpriced. Payed over $100 for a toyota front brake caliper. Other auto parts stores in the area sell for half of that price.
I recently visited to adjust the alignment.I had previously replaced the low control arm.Then the handle went back.The problem behaved as if the mechanics were angry.When I saw that the steering wheel was turning, He asked to me if it was an accident.I told him I did not have an accident,After confirming that it is not an accident. Steering Gear-Inner Tie Rod nut was melted by torch heating.The nut did not work.He had to give me a total estimate of $ 900, including alignment with replace the entire part.He told me again that there was an accident .I was in a bad mood.Then He checked the my car and confirmed that there was no accident.I took the car homeand bought a nuts for $ 6.and replaced myself.Then I went to another auto tire center and adjusted the alignment very well.Alignment adjustment costs are also at $ 43, half of Pepboy.( for front two tire.)I was angry during this process.In the very unkindness of that machenic.I have lost my time.I would like some kindness to anyone in the future.Of course, not all employees are unfriendly.
9/1/2017: Excellent customer care by Blaise. Explained all service questions. Offered advice and recommendations. Showed me what was wrong on the car. Very happy with the work that was done.Its hard to find a good auto repair shop when you are new to the area, I would recommend this shop.
I had a core that had to be returned which I purchased online to ship to the Oxford location. The person at Oxford location told me we could return it at any pep boys. Fast forward to today when I attempted to return it I was told that it had to go back to the store in Oxford. I was at the Sterling heights location and thought I was out of luck. The man at the customer service counter named Steve was wonderful. He took his time and found a way for us to return the part at this location. Thank you very much , Steve for your time and extra effort.
RON from service is a moron, and a cheat. I would avoid him at ALL costs for hes a dopey, unintelligent scammer. He tried charging me 2.5 times the price Service Manager gave me. Plus I got a super bad vibe when I told him what I wanted done he said “Why, what kind of problems are you having?” None! I drove there with the car, its called maintenance. He asked me a few times “Why, what kinda problems are you having”. Total dopey airhead, went somewhere else and got my service done and they were fair, and professional.
I had an appointment at 11am to do alignment and power steering flush, its 5pm and my car is still not ready, I called at 4.30pm and they said that they almost done with power steering flush and alignment is still not done, I do not recommend this place, so slow, I will not go there again!!!
My daughters car battery died and Auto Zone would not replace it due to the location of the battery but the Pep Boys service employee tackled the task with no problem and did it for free!! He was very polite and informative! We are extremely satisfied and happy with the experience!!I will recommend Pep Boys to all my family and friends, and I will definitely use their services, when needed, in the future!Thank you, Pep Boys!!
Update-. After recent events I can no longer stand behind my review from 2017. This locations service department has gone downhill in a big way. The service manager does not seem to care his service staff do not want to do the work requested or honor warranty covered parts. I purchased tires with road hazard I developed a leak which was indicated by my tire pressure sensors after two times of filling the tires I took the car to get the issue addressed. The service department took in my vehicle kept me waiting for a hour then tells me they checked all the tire and found nothing wrong. I go to leave and find the low pressure sensor was still firing I go back in they keep me waiting again and again did nothing and try to tell me my car does not pressure sensors, which it does, and there was nothing wrong. Instead of continuing to argue since it became abundantly clear they had no interest in doing their job I left and stopped at a gas station to fill the tires. I ultimately went to BelleTire and they found a nail in the sidewall of the tire I asked Pepboys to check which told me Pepboys tire guy did not remove the tires from the car or do anything I requested. I ended having to go to another Pepboys in order to get the tire warranty honored and the tire replaced. I will never shop or take my vehicles to this location again. Good job Pepboys Sterling Heights you have lost a customer of 15+ years.2017- I really like going to pep boys for my vehicle maintenance they tell you what you need no more no less.
I would not recommend going to this location. I made an appointment online, when I showed up I was told they do not go by online appts and that they were full for the entire day. Yet all other locations do go by making appointments through online. Just very rude and unprofessional.
I ordered a battery online and when I went to go pick up I noticed it was dirty and used. The battery post had already been clamped on by a previous owner of the battery and then returned. I was buying anAWG battery at a price of $160 and thought that was an unacceptable. The guy behind the counter still tried to sell me the battery and tell me it was new even though I saw the witness marks from someone previously clamping on the battery post. Instead I told him I would take a different kind of battery that they have in stock. He then told me I would have to go on my phone in order the battery online to get the discount code.After ordering the battery online he went and got the battery and the pain ringing me up their system went down for about 15 minutes. This was my first time at the store to get my car worked on. The first visit wasnt bad, they got it done quickly for me. They had to order a part the following day and I would come back the day after to get it put in. Well the Service manager didnt order my part, charged me more for it than he told me on the phone. So when I came back they wasted my time and they didnt have the part. So they said they would order it.I would come back when they let me know. Well their online system reservation sucks and didnt give them my phone number so they couldnt call me. When I call them, they tell me the parts in. So I come in again to get the part installed. They ordered the wrong one, so that is another waste of my time. They when I say they overcharged me, the Manager asks and says a whole new price that was cheaper then what they told me originally. So with all of this I feel like it was a rip off and they were trying to scam me. I finally just got all my money back from them and said I would go somewhere else. its not worth the wasting of my time and patience. This was complete BS and I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone else at all. The part they over charged me was by 50 bucks. So I have to ask how many others are they ripping off that dont know about cars.
I walked into this place at 9AM with not one other customer and waited nearly an hour to have the car even pulled into the garage. After 20 Minutes the service guy tells me they cant get the lug nuts off to remove the tires and that 40 minutes of his technicians time was wasted; this is after 20 minutes of them pulling the car into the garage. It took another 30 minutes just to get my car back out of the garage so I could l leave this horrible service ridden place. Dont ever plan on going back again even if you every other shop in the country goes bankrupt.
I made an appointment online for a 1pm AC check up. On my way there I decided to call ahead and make sure all is good, tech tells me he is not sure if he can take me in today or not, they are swamped!! I understand the work overload but thats the whole point of making an appointment isnt it? He said they only have one machine and it was booked...they wanted me to leave it there to see if maybe they could get to it....I didnt make arrangements for someone to pick me up, offered to wait there 45 min or so but he said not sure if he could get me in....Needless to say I didnt even make it to the store, had to turn around and change my schedule...Not sure why they allow for apppointments to be set up if they will not honor them!!! 😤I do not recommend this place, Unless you have free time and want to hang out in the AC store for a day or two and wait for your appointment!!!
Quite a bit more expensive than other car part shops. Went in to get a price on some tires because their sale ad said buy three tires , get the fourth free. Ive been pricing tires for a few days, with only having to buy three it would save on average 25% off the prices. I was wrong their prices are so high that the cost of three ( never heard of the name brand ) tires was actually higher than buying four from about anyone else !!! Top it all off I thought Id shop around the store for a bit. I was looking at wrenches hanging on one of carousels in the main isle , bent down and bumpped the one behind me and the shelf fell off. I picked up what had fallen when a female employee came over to help , I said to her geez I didnt even bump it that hard and it fell off She said to me Well its been hanging here for a month so, I think you did a little more than just bump it In a rude and sarcastic voice. I was completely offended and at that point just decided to leave the store. So, the point of my rambling is that their prices are high and their customer service really suxs. I will not be patronizing this place again
ONLY go to this location if you want to deal with honest people who have a great business ethic!I went here for a routine oil change and tire rotation and was informed of how bad of shape my front luggnuts were. Aaron walked me out and showed me the damage that needed to be repaired on my newly bought used escort....He explained to me that he was at least able to salvage the threading on the front wheel bolts, saving them from taking the brake assembly off and costing me more money. Thank you for being real people and if anyone sees the first reviews that show up on google (the 3 bad ones) they are from years ago and no longer apply. Hard to get assistance, what really grinds my gears is I have an older Explorer with 150,000 miles on it, trusty and great for the winter. Decided to go and get an standard oil change but the tech said we cant put standard oil in that truck even though my last 20 oil changes have been standard oil, not synthetic or synthetic blend since I change every 3,000 miles and dont feel the need to spend $35 on an oil change. Long story short they REFUSED to do the oil change unless I went with the higher priced oil.......JERKS!
I stopped by Pep Boys Sterling Heights, asking for a quote to replace my trucks shocks. The manager in turn, Aaron, walked me through the screen showing me the options for shocks as well as the cost for the estimated labor. The estimate ended up beyond my budget, so decided to do it by myself. His advise was very helpful on selecting the right brand and understanding how to tell the type of shock required according to my truck version. Very helpful. Thanks.The people in the store are very knowledgeable and willing to help.
Ronald S. serviced my car and was friendly even though he was the only one there and it was near the end of the day. He noticed an issue other than what I came for, and the quote he gave was much less than I was told at another repair shop. I appreciate the integrity and the fact that he didnt try to use scare tactics.

I was not happy with this place. I set an appt. for an auto inspection. I showed up on time and no one wanted to inspect it! I got a few sob stories from a couple of the guys that worked there saying that theyre so backed up that I would have to come back some other day. One of the guys actually picked up a 3 inch stack of back orders to show me and told me that they wish the company I work for would link with some other shop instead of them! I politely nodded and left. I will never return. The lack of professionalism was staggering! If I could give them a -1, I would. Big thumbs down here folks!
I dropped $1400 into having my car repaired by a trusted mechanic (not Pep Boys) who told me afterward that all I need is a $60 front end alignment that he cant perform because he doesnt have the equipment to do this. He also told me that if whoever I end up going to for the alignment tries to tell me I need more than just the alignment to pull it out of there because I dont, truck is good. Went to this Pep Boys location where he first tryed to charge me $95 even though we called beforehand and was told $65 then proceeded to tell me that I needed another $500+ in work done in order to get a proper alignment! Immediately had them put the down and left, called my trusted mechanic (again not Pep Boys) and was reassured that it was not needed and thats why he didnt recommend replacing the parts. Its sad that we have to waste our time with crooks like this when we are all so busy already. I will never go back to Pep Boys again, not even for a simple oil change!
I took my car in yesterday with a tire that kept going flat. I asked them to also look at the other tires, since I have been having problems lately.Aaron and the team at Pep Boys was very thorough and took me to look at the car while it was on the hoist and explained where the damage was and prevented future frustration by showing me another screw in the opposite tire that I didnt even have that much air leaking from yet!Thank you Aaron for the great service and positive attitude!
I stopped in last night (10/21/14) after work to have a headlight bulb replaced. I told the sales associate that the bulb has burned out twice in less than a year. I thought it was a fuse. Aaron a technician, investigated and found out a varmint chewed through the wire. They repaired and spliced a new wire. I also had new wiper blades in my back seat purchased from a competitor. They put these on at no charge.What a great team!!!! Thanks Gentlemen!!
I had a simple brake job done a week ago. I normally do it my self but the weather made me choose other wise. The first 10 miles or so I went after I picked up my vehicle was ok. I was skeptical the whole time they had my car. I stopped and did a few things. Now when I tried leaving my brakes froze up and the noise reduction clips fell off. When I got out to look what was wrong they were laying on the ground. Now they sound like garbage. Trying to keep tis PG rated. I called them to let them know what was going on, I was put on hold for 25 minutes to be told since it happened after I already drove away they were going to nothing for me. Thanks Pep Boys on Van Dyke in Sterling Heights Michigan. They are the rudest group of people I have ever dealt with.
Went in to get a tire valve replaced for a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country minivan that had broken during a routine air pressure check. Had called ahead to make sure the parts were available and that it could be done. Was told it could and to stop in an hour before it closed (on a Sunday). After a 50 minute wait time, one of their technicians became available to service the tire. Turns out, the whole TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitor System) unit had to be replaced, but it was not available in stock. Kevin, the service manager there apologized for the long wait and for not having a replacement part available. He offered to have a rubber stem installed and didnt charge a penny! He also researched their system and offered another Pep Boys service shop that did have the part needed.
Took my car in twice for them to look at it. My brakes were going all the way to the floor. First they told me I needed a whole front brake job. I thought it was the master cylinder but oh well. I replaced my rotors, calipers, and brake pads along with my brake lines. Brakes would work for a bit then gradually go to the floor. Took it in the second time telling them what I replaced and how it would help for a bit if I bled my brake lines. Dropped it off and got a phone call. They told me that the reason my brakes werent working was air in the brake lines. They bled them and told me to pick it up. I told them that that didnt fix it. They said to try it out for a few days. Of course it gradually went to the floor. I will never be back since my safety is so unimportant.P.S. It was the master cylinder
Im from a small town in the midwest (about 8 hours south of Troy) where you mechanic is your best friend. A person who is honest and open about the issues and tells you the truth.Since moving up here, finding someone who is on-par with that has been near impossible, until these guys.They were honest and up front about my older car telling me what I was looking at in order to get the issue replaced and being honest when saying, you know youre probably better off getting a new car instead of trying to repair this engine problem.THAT is what I want. Someone who is up front and honest about it instead of saying We can repair it for $1,000 and fixing one small issue, knowing that there is a bigger issue that needs to be addressed.Ive tried Belle Tire for some things and they have been caught breaking things and charging my girlfriend for it when repairing a car. Ive tried a few other small places around here (backyard mechanics), but in all reality these are the guys I trust.
Today I visited the Pep Boys in Sterling Hts, Mi. I spoke with a mechanic by the name of Ronnie. He was very informative and truthful with me. I also like the fact that they give a military veteran discount. I will be going to that Pep Boys for all of my vehicle services...Ernest Willis
Had my car all weekend and told me we dont have a mechanic here that knows what they are looking at when it comes to non domestic cars. My hoses were out of place too when I picked my car up. I watched a YouTube video grew a pair and fixed it myself. Im a 20 year old and they have older men who are to afraid to work on german engineering. You should be ashamed for your ignorance
Stunningly rude service. The person who picked up the phone in the service department sounded like he didnt want to be bothered with anyone who dared called in. Trying to ignore his rudeness, I opened the conversation by telling him I needed a quote on shocks and struts. He sarcastically says, Well, it can be anywhere from $1 to $1,000. How am I supposed to know if I dont know what kind of car it is? Then, in an exasperated voice, he says, What kind of car is it? I told him that his tone of voice was completely unacceptable and that I would take my business elsewhere, and he promptly hung up on me. Pep Boys will NEVER get a dime from me if this is the quality of customer service it provides.
I bought 4 tires last month and a half ago and had problem I have to go few times back and forth to resolve the tires problem finally today I went to the store and they spoke with mr. RON AND WILLING TO CHANGE ALL FOUR NEW TIRES FOR DIFFERENT BRAND WITHOUT HESITATION AND I DID SOME OTHER SERVICE IN THAT PLACE THEY OFFER EXCELLENT SERVICE.
DO NOT ALLOW PEP BOYS TO REPAIR A PUNCTURED TIRE. They do not patch them from the inside as is REQUIRED by ALL tire manufacturers for a proper repair. They only plug it and apply rubber cement from the inside. IT IS NOT AN APPROVED OR ACCEPTABLE REPAIR. Thankfully I asked before having them repair one under the road hazard warranty I purchased. Id rather pay and go somewhere else to have it done right, rather than have a free repair.
I went in today for a Lyft inspection, and the first guy I talked to didnt say a word, but pointed me to Blaise. Blaise had a terrible attitude, was very mean, and yelled at myself and the two other Lyft applicants. None of the other employees were smiling.I have never shopped here, but I will never be back to this place.Blaise did apologize once the inspection was done, which I appreciated. He said that 2 employees called in hours late, which I can understand.
I spoke with someone over the phone there about purchasing a set of mud tires. I asked for Federal Couragia mt tires he said he never heard of them. I then asked what about toyo open country mt tires he said thats a discount tire thing. As soon as i was about to speak. He said i have never heard of any of these tires and he hung up the phone. I WAS a paying customer prepared to shell out $1000+ a new set of tires. By far the most unprofessional establishment i have ever delt with. I called back after they hung up and a guy named Ron answered so it wasnt him. Props to Ron for not being ignorant like his coworkers.
Worst service you can imagine. Manager is an idiot. All she could tell me is that she doesnt normally work at this store. Parts prepaid and ordered by them promised 3 to 5 days is now over 3 weeks and all the manager can tell me is that she cant find the order. What a bunch of morons. Oh yeh their mecanic will be glad to guess what is wrong so you can keep prebuying parts that you dont need but will never see anyway.
WARNING: DO NO TAKE YOUR VEHICLE THERE. MY DAD GOT RIPPED OFF $1065 FOR THEM TO SAY ITS A HEAD GASKET 4 WEEKS LATER.. after the discovery of the radiator with a crack and no fluid was replaced along with harmonic balancer. Pep boys then decided it was a head gasket after ther released it to me and I drove up band to m53 to hall rd it stalled and overheated. Drove it back to Pep boys and they have me the runnaroud about not being able to run it in the shop. However a compression test for head gasket was never performed. You think that a MASTER MECHANIC day that damage to head gasket could be possible knowing there were no fluid present in the cracked radiator. Also releasing a vehicalthat could have been potentially dangerous while i was driving in a high traffic environments. My dad is too sick with his cancer to fight for his money back. He was trying to help his daughter that is and had been a single mother trying make it in this world for her child. PEP VOYS YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF!!!
Rudest people Ive ever experienced. I was in today to get a key made and the woman working had the sassiest attitude towards me. Nobody greeted me, I smiled at the man in the front of the store and he just glared at me like I wasnt supposed to be there. I will never return to this pepboys ever again.
Worst place ever to work with. I do not recommend for anyone to do business with them. They gave me an estimate and once it was time for paying the asked for 4 times the estimate price. Seems to be a habit for them check other peoples reviews before going there I wish I did before this experience.

I went there for an emergency it was a blizzard outside , had a flat tire just needed service changing it, they basically wanted me to buy a tire instead, they want you to spend extra money you may not have and service is extremely slow don’t have other plans when you go there
The first time i went there they gave me the wrong oil filter..oil all over the driveway, the second time, wrong brake pads and rotors, the 3rd strike..i needed tires on a sunday..yep last resort..not only was i on hold for 20 min, but once i got there to pick them up..4 guys standing around playin pocket pool, 1 old guy trying to fix some invoice for 25 min..the parts counter had workers willing to help but couldnt sell me tires..which is a car part..i was gonna mount them myself..after 30 min of not getting anywhere i just walked out..3 strikes there out..never again !!!..ill wait a week to get a part from oreileys before i go back there again..congrats..you just lost a $500 sale
Went to get just front rotors replaced so I walk in ask hey who do I talk to to get my rotors replaced ? And 3 miserable old guys start be rood and start making jokes then proceed to tell me they are going to charge me $300 to get the rotors replaced on just the front not even getting brake pads

2022-04-02BEWARE!I typically don’t post negative reviews but I feel like this should be shared. I called last week trying to get my car serviced. I was told they are booked up and that my best option would be to wait next Saturday 4/2/2022. I scheduled my appointment for 8 am. I dropped off the car and they told me they would contact me. It was around 2pm and I called to get an update. They told me they haven’t even looked at my car. Keep in mind I was told it would be done today. Then the gentleman proceeds to tell me that they have one mechanic and he’s working on another vehicle. I was then told there’s no guarantee it would be done tomorrow either. So what’s the point of my car sitting there all day? Why wouldn’t you inform me you have one mechanic to begin with. This place needs better customer service. Absolute waste of my Saturday.

2022-03-25Great place to find any parts you may need, if it has a motor they have the parts you are looking for.I actually took my truck in to have tires mounted and balanced, I was told they were running a little behind and it would be a couple of hours which I had no problem with. I left and was gone about an hour and they called to tell me my truck was done, when I payed for the service it was considerably less than what I was told it would.Thank you Pep Boys you have earned a customer for life.

2022-03-23Really kicking myself for not reading reviews for this place first. Such a horrible customer service experience. I ordered tires on the 14th. Set my appointment up at the same time for yesterday afternoon. My husband showed up for our appointment and was told he should have called first to make sure the tires were in. I don’t believe it is the customer’s responsibility to make sure the business is prepared for the appointment, and if the tires were not in they could have the courtesy to call us to let us know not to drive up there. I had to borrow a car to get to work today which was stressful. And called up there today and they said they don’t know when the tires are expected. We called corporate and they couldn’t even look up the location of my order so we are in limbo. Spent hundreds of dollars for my time to be wasted and I have to worry about being able to get to work again on Thursday. Extremely inconsiderate of others time and money.

2022-04-18On Sunday 4/17/22 I went to Pep Boys in Sterling Heights to see if I needed to make an appointment to have my car inspected and serviced. I spoke with David Junior, Service Mgr who advised me that I could bring my car in the next day at 8am. I advised him that I needed to check my work schedule and call back once I got home. When I got home, I checked my schedule and called back to make an appointment. David answered the phone and we scheduled my appointment for 9am Monday, 4/18. The next day I got an unexpected meeting at the same time so I called before my appointment to see if I can reschedule. The person on the phone advised yes, so I rescheduled my appointment for 11am same day Monday, 4/18. I arrived to Pep Boys at 11am and gave David my keys to my vehicle. David advised once the tech pull the car in the shop and take a look at it they will give me a call today to let me know what they find. I asked what was the store address so that I could take a Lyft back home. David provided the information twice. Hours have went by and I didn’t hear from David regarding my vehicle. I called back and asked how soon will I know the status of my vehicle. David advised that he would call me back in an hour with an update. Several hours have passed and I still haven’t received a phone call. I called Pep Boys around 6:20pm and asked what’s going on with my vehicle since they close at 7pm. David lied and said he spoke with me already and advised me that the tech couldn’t get to my vehicle and he will take a look at it in the morning. I advised David that he didn’t call me. I had my phone present with me the whole time and that he never called. I asked David what time is he claiming he called. David said about 45 minutes ago (which would have been 5:35pm. He didn’t call. I advised David that I will be coming up to the shop to pick up my vehicle. When I got there my vehicle was in the same spot where I parked it covered with snow. David was sitting down playing with two phones.

2022-02-13Made an appointment online for a quick tire patch. Showed up to my appointment and the staff was rude and made me feel unwelcome. I was asked if I was leaving my car there and when I said no I thought it was just a quick repair.. I was told even though I had an appointment “every car back there has an appointment and it’ll be a few hours” I probably would’ve figured out a way to wait and make it work but the attitude from the staff made me not want to stay.

2021-10-18I have an hour commute to and from work, so when my tire went flat on Sunday I was worried about how I was supposed to get to work Monday, since I took a long weekend off. Nobody was open but them, and I was so happy I ended up getting an amazing deal on all new tires. I was in the market for new tires anyway, and I got the buy 3 get one free deal. Good quality tires with a good warranty. Saved a lot of money, and time!! All done on a Sunday. Happy with my experience, and very friendly service.

2022-01-23I ordered tires through Rent-A-Center. After confirming with Rent-A-Center that my tires were at Pet boys I call there and confirmed . They wanted me to come in that day but because I am a woman and I hate driving at night I decided to come while it was broad day light which was the next day as soon as they open. I walk in the store I say good morning no response back. I walk to the service and tires counter the guy behind the counter introduction was so vague and rude I was appalled. Confirming the details I spoke about the previous day the man ask me what kind of tires I tell them then he asked me the tires sizes which they should have already had. After giving me hassale about not knowing the size tire he informs me to leave my keys and they will call me when my wheels are installed. I got a text that night that my car was ready but again because it was late I arrived the next business day as soon as they open. I get my car and I am riding to my next designation and all of a sudden the tire is tore and flat plus the under carriage on my car has fallen off. I call petboys immediately in disbelief they tell me there is nothing that can be done and to call rent a center. Them being closed I had to pay 75 dollars to get my car towed home. I really want them to know that because of there negligence and the emotional stress that I have to endure I will be contacting my lawyer as well as contacting there corporate office. Because what if I was actually injured or harmed someone else. I would not even suggest my worse enemy to come there. One star is a over statement

It was a pleasant visit, Justin listened to my needs and provided 4 tires that fit my budget.I just finished loggin into the rewards center and within 5 minutes I was logged in and was claimed. (All your data is imported from Pepboys computers) There is hardly any input just more confirming.Ran the car for about 10 miles to Troy and back, it was a smooth ride.Thanks

2021-12-05Ordered tires from pep boys online, made an appointment for the next Sunday. Got a confirmation email for the order of the tires and the installation appointment. They called me the morning of the appointment to tell me the tires were never ordered from Indiana and will have to have someone pick them up and can get me in tomorrow.. like a whole week and he said the ordered just appeared this morning so sorry.. super uncoordinated..
