Michelle is incredible. She is the most wonderful sales person I have ever encountered -- not just at Petco, but anywhere. She always takes the time to listen. She cares so much. She goes over and above what any customer could expect. Michelle is the major reason reason I shop at your Petco store in Rochester.
Recently purchased 2 guinea pigs from this location. Tim was our sales associate, he was incredibly helpful and very informative. Tim took the time to walk the aisles with us and point out all the items we need to care for our new pet. We decided that night to add another guinea pig so our girl wouldn’t be lonely. My husband went back to Petco and received the same level of customer care that I had the day before from another sales associate. Excellent service and sales. We are now making Petco our main store for all the needs of all our pets!
I had negative customer experiences at this Petco store on Rochester Rd. The first time I went a month ago for my dog’s grooming, I was not greeted by the woman at the grooming sign-in desk. She only asked me for my dog’s name. I figured she maybe having a rough start to her day, so I looked passed that and continue with the appointment. Fast forwarding to today, I returned to that store for another scheduled grooming service. The same woman (wish I had her name) was at the desk and a guy with a shirt on with the initials “JJ” was standing on the side. I approach them with my dog and was not greeted by the woman nor the guy. I spoke, “Morning!”, no response from the guy, however, the woman, again, just asked me for my dog’s name. The guy, “JJ”, proceed to tell the woman he is going to check my dog and as he reaches for him, I interrupted him, and I asked him ‘who are you and where is the person I made the appointment with?’ No response from him, but the woman stated the individual was running late. The guy tells the woman at the desk he is going to prep the room in the back for service. At this point, I am confused. I am not sure who is going to provide the services for my dog because no one is giving me further info. Then the woman just repeats the services I made the appointment for and no further info. I paused, made eye contact with her, and said, ‘It’s cancelled.’ My dog and I proceeded to walk out the store. As I was walking out, I began to wonder if my ‘skin color’ was the cause of these negative customer experiences???
The VetCo team was great. Very gentle and good with my little Yorkie dog. They gave great advice to counteract leaving her at my brothers house where his dogs have fleas. I also got her shots. The cost is about half what it last time I took her for the same services to a traditional vet.
I Highly recommend going to this store for your food and training. The store manager Michele and the trainer stacy are the best people you could ever meet around here at any pet places in metro detroit. This review is for grooming. Please dont pick this store for grooming. I truly wish the grooming team can be more patient and could provide a better customer service. I booked with jennifer and when i wenr to the store at 8 am the store door was locked so i went back when the doors were open and she moved my appointment blaming that i didnt call the store. They must have called me too. I had a question about my pals account and she wouldnt even provide a complete response and she is extremely rude. I will continue to go here for food every other week but a big NO for grooming. Petsmart has better customer service for grooming.
Such a friendly environment, and so transparent! When I bring my pooch here for a groom, I can see pretty much everything through the window which makes me feel safe bringing him here. The staff is well educated, passionate, and has a lot of experience under their belts. I think this might be my new home store.
I’m so very disappointed!!!! I purchased 50 Rosey feeders on Saturday evening, by the time I drove straight home.... 2 mins away. Upon put the feeders in Tank almost everyone is dead. We have very expensive fish and now the tank is just mess. Not a very happy customer.
There was not an employee at the register when I was ready to check out, I had to wait a few minutes for someone to come up front. There was not an employee in that immediate area to ask for help. The employees are friendly and willing to help with whatever you need. I was greeted when I walked in. The store is clean and things are easily found. Always a great experience when I come into the store.
Not sure if others have experienced this with their Doodles but the grooming team seems to be very biased towards this bread. I know Doodles are a lot of work and I am ok if Petco charge me more for their service. With recent grooming offer going on in Petco which takes the grooming price significantly down, Petco is seeing a lot of customers and the grooming team is not being able to handle this . I have a Doodle and I know what Matting on a Doodle is. When I go for a grooming I make sure I brush my Doodle. I did not have any issues with this location previously, but lately they are a Mess. I went there and I was straight away told they will shave my Doodle. Looks like they dont understand difference between Matting and a normal Doodle curl. They told us to take back our Dog if we do not plan to shave them, Disgusting. The Grooming Manager seem to be more of a pain in the A** than other groomers standing around on that day. JUST A THOUGHT IF YOU HAVE A DOODLE.
The service here is top notch. I never expect such friendly service when going to the bigger box type pet stores like Petco, so I was pleasantly surprised at how friendly everyone was here from the moment we walked in! You can tell that they really care about what they do and they loved our pets!The grooming services were fantastic (Erica was our groomer), the pet coach (Mary) was super helpful, and everyone overall was just a pleasure to work with. Will definitely be back to this location!
Been going to pet stores my entire life as a dog owner and let me say this staff is one of the best if not the best I’ve encountered in a long time! The girl taking care of the ferrets and guinea pigs seemed like she truly cared about them. Was holding them, feeding them and making sure their cage was very clean. The animals at this store seemed very healthy and happy. Even the turtles seems overly playful lol
Wondeful place! Michelle is very knowledgable about the fish. My son got a fish tank for christmas and she was helpful in guiding us and making sure the fish we picked out could go together. She seemed to know it all and didnt have to look up any information. I was surprised to see such great staff a big retailer.
Today I took my Pomeranian Rosie for a bath and teeth brushing appointment and Raquelle & the front desk attendant (hope I spelled her name correctly) were super nice! Raquelle did a beautiful job with Rosie!! She is so silky soft and when she called me to pick Rosie up she had two little yellow bows in her hair 😭😍💗 it was SUPER CUTE! I live 30 mins away but will always come to this one because of Raquelle 💗 THANK YOU 😊
Kind of bummed. Store was super nice/clean. Just went in (Monday morning). My husband and I fell in love with a ferret, whom was very social. Being prior ferret owners I obviously want to meet the little guy before purchase. Look....I know a lot of people ask to touch/hold etc. ....but we probably would’ve walked out of there with him if we had a different experience. I asked if we could meet him (which the associate was busy cleaning).....and she very promptly said, “no”...that was it, just “no”. I was kind of shocked. Then I said, “well, what if we are highly considering purchasing him?” She then said, “well your going to have to give me 5 minutes.” (Very rudely). Look I get it, has to be annoying when people constantly want to see the animals. I totally would wait ....but wow, she clearly did not want to help us. Big bummer. We only get to PetCo so often because we live 3 hours away from the nearest one. I hope the little guy/girl finds a good home, because if we didn’t have that experience he would be coming to a very loving home. Side note: when we left an associate did tell us to have a nice day 😊 .....it is not hard to just “be nice”.
I love this store. The people who work here are so helpful.I had some toys and forgot I needed litter, and Mary who was helping me took everything I had and put at the register.They helped me with the kitty litter and asked if I needed help to my car.They have everything, from food to beds, scratchers for the cats in your family.I just happened to see my cats food was on sale so that was a bonus.Its one stop if you have several pets, you can get everything they need.I highly recommend this store 😁
Mary and everyone at the Petco in Rochester Hills has always been so kind and helpful. All of my experiences there have been great. I am a repeat customer who is there about once a week. I highly recommend! I love the product recommendations, grooming services, and overall atmosphere. Thank you! A+
The inside of the store looks really cool BUT I was extremely offended by an employees comment which I will explain. Let me first point out that the whole time my dog was wearing a training collar that was NOT turned on while he was wearing it in Petco. We were looking around in the store for the first time when a lady with a grey t-shirt and brown apron asked if she could pet my dog and give him a treat. I said yes but hes not aloud to jump. My dog was not interested in the treat but he was loving the attention and petting so much that started to jump on her. I gave him the command off and he listened then she said to my dog oh, I felt that too!. I didnt know what she meant by that so I chose to ignore it. Later after talking to a couple for a little bit and looking around for a little more I decide to leave. On our way out I over hear the same employee front earlier talking to another customer saying that poor dog has a shock collar. That last comment made my shopping experience very unpleasant and unhappy. Other than that there was a tall young gentleman in a red t-shirt and brown apron who also asked to pet my dog and calming did a good job while I was talking to the couple. He also kindly told me to have a nice job before I over heard the employee in grey t-shirt.
OK so most days after working on a Saturday I want to just go home and not talk to anyone. But on this occasion when I was in search of Organix canned dog food and some toothpaste Mary came to the rescue. She was amazing!!! So knowledgeable and super helpful. She signed me up for a monthly delivery of my babies canned food and was so friendly on top of all that. We talked about dry food and other brands that I could try. I am so grateful for Mary. Thanks to the whole team at Petco for always being there to help and for being kind and friendly. ❤️❤️❤️
The cashier was super helpful, and told me about your online repeat delivery for an item I must have every 30 days. This is so helpful as you are the only store that sells the cat calming collar my Cleo needs per vet orders. She has stress induced IBS and vomits blood when her collar wears out. If I cant get to you in time, its bad. This is such a time and stress saver for me!
I was pleased to see that the small animals are being given a little more care and attention than in previous visits, especially the ferrets. Now if only we can get the larger birds/parrots in less cramped conditions that would be great. I know that to a company like Petco these animals are just commodities, but it would be nice to see a future where these animals would either be all rescues up for adoption OR at least given more socialization than they have now. I also recognize the face that these animals must be kept safe from the mishandling and unhygienic public, but I would like to see a greater effort put into more hands on socialization for the animals.
Where do I start with this storeThe signs of WE PRICE MATCH :) are complete lies. They only match their OWN website, which is the same price or higher for most of their products. Very expensive, refused to price match their own fish even. Go elsewhere for realistic prices, or find another store that ACTUALLY PRICE MATCHES.Been in several times to buy shrimp, snails, and plants for my 10g tank. Every time I come in, 95% of their snails are dead (lying upside down, not moving). Asked a question about the amano shrimp, and the employees had NO IDEA what I was talking about, even though I was pointing to them in the tank. They to google my question right in front of me and asked if Ive tried googling my question myself. Employees have no idea what theyre doing or talking about.Birds are half-clipped (which is VERY dangerous). Parrots are aggressive and not housed with proper food, toys, or space. Bearded dragons and geckos are given sand, which is DANGEROUS. Pythons have direct heat lights, which do nothing but HARM THEM.seriously, dont waste your time in this store if you care about animals in the slightest.
Will not be returning. Loyal customer of Pet Supply Plus, we were in the area and decided to stop at Petco. At 10:30 AM on a Sunday were greeted with some off the worst customer service I’ve EVER encountered. Needed a new litter box and lid; the disorganization of that isle was out of control. Two employees were standing in the tank area ignoring my husband and I while we struggled to find a matching top and bottom for over ten minutes. Finally another employee walked by with a coffee cup in hand and I asked her for help since no one bothered to stop what they were doing (and us being the only two customers in the store I can only assume they weren’t extremely overwhelmed with tasks)The employee response? “I said hi when you two entered the store” in the most rude and condescending tone I’ve EVER been talked to by an employee. And continued to belittle and fumble around aimlessly like it was our fault for shopping in her store.Ma’am if you are not skilled or even proficient in customer service do not exposure the public to your skill set or lack there of please and thank you.You have lost our business and truly enforced WHY we shop at Pet Supples Plus of Rochester and how we are SO happy with them each time we go in there.
First of all, I would give 0 stars if that was possible. I made an appointment 3 weeks in advance at the Shelby Twp MI Petco. When I came in, the stylist named Christina, immediately had an attitude about the size of my Great Dane dog. That is why I created a profile on-line for him which stated X-LARGE GREAT DANE with a minor case of Wobblers Syndrome. No surprises there, she just didnt feel like bathing a large dog. I explained to her that he had a minor case of Wobblers Syndrome in which he just takes a few seconds more than your average dog to do a command, and cannot have any leash or collar pulled on his neck. Something told me not to leave my dogs with her because she didnt seem to even like animals. She obviously hated her job. When I picked up my dog, I came early and saw her pulling him by his neck. I confronted her about her attitude and the mistreatment of my dog. She then tried to charge me for the ROVER charge which she said was for walk-in x-large dogs when they cant put them on a table. My charge already takes in to account his breed, size, and weight. My Great Dane has been to other Petco stores of which I was never charged this, nor did anyone else have an issue bathing my Great Dane. She just didnt want to do her job and tried to charge me extra because I confronted her on her bad behavior. That was his last appointment at Shelby Twp, now I made an appointment for him at the Rochester MI Petco for today, September 8, 2020. In the past two weeks, I received two phone calls confirming the appointment, along with 2 text messages confirming the appointment. When I got there they said they were refusing to take my Great Dane because he knocked over a table at the last appointment at the Shelby Township Petco. Seriously? Well, that is the first I heard of it. Why wasnt that put on my discharge summary? I know why? BECAUSE CHRISTINA MADE IT UP!!! It never happened! Even if it did, so what! That still would not warrant refusing him a future appointment. That was just an excuse to have me (not my dog) blackballed because I confronted her on her bad behavior. At the Rochester location, Jennifer, refused to answer my questions like, Why did Erica (the other employee standing there at the counter) confirmed by text and phone call several times the past few days if my dog wasnt allowed to come back? They purposely let me drive all the way there just so they could turn me away IN PERSON! Christina at the Shelby Twp location doesnt like animals and doesnt have any business working with them. Jennifer, at the Rochester location, was just as rude as Christina. Petco really needs to screen better for employees who care for peoples pets. I have 2 Great Danes and a Lab and I volunteer for an animal rescue. I will make sure everyone I know who love their pets do not go here!!!!!
My daughter has been researching parakeets and wants to have a couple of birds. We went into a Petco today to see what they had to offer. The store was very clean and the birds were not distressed at all, very different than some other places we have looked. A gentleman named Bob came to help us. He had a very respectful, informative conversation with my daughter and I really appreciate his kindness and openness to talking with a preteen. Some people are very dismissive of kids. Thanks Bob! When my daughter saves up enough money we will be back to this particular location to get everything we need.
I just have to write a review for this place because every single time I have visited this store the entire staff have been extremely curtious and very helpful. They are knowledgeable about the store layout and the products they sell as well. How refreshing. A+Please keep up the excellent work and you will have a loyal customer for life. ♡Rebas mom
Do not ever take your cat here for a nail trimming. My cat went in for a nail trim which I was told only one groomer could do it. I brought him in and he was perfectly fine. He came out with a butchered bloody back paw and I was told I didnt have to pay because they couldnt cut his nails. I believe they hurt him and tried to cover up the mistake saying it was his fault because he had cracked nails. The only cracked nails he had was on his front paws which I inspected before leaving the house. Unbelievably awful service and my poor boy will most likely have to go to the vet. Stay away from the store for any grooming needs.
I came to two different petcos and this one has ball pythons together in an enclosure they get stressed out by that and they use heat bulb not heating mats so no knowledge with that. plus,the savannah monitors are probably gonna die within the first year and 80% of people who walk in dont know how to take care of them same with the iguanas but to their defense they did have accurate care sheet on the display. I also see from both stores the ferret enclosures are too small. The second store has a mangrove monitor its very skinny and has mites so they really dont know how to take care of the poor monitor and again, customers wouldnt know anything about a mangrove monitor but the supplies there are good so I dont support their animal care and lastly the poor birds the cockatiels and conures are in stress .
Some employees here could use an attitude adjustment. As an ADULT customer, I dont appreciate being interviewed on whether or not I can buy a pet. And certainly, no pectco educated girl with an attitude is going to tell me what I can and cannot support properly. Just bizare
Its absolutely sickening the habitats that they provide to their ball pythons. They obviously know nothing about the species keeping them the way they do. They put them under direct light which they do not like because it stresses them out, they remove to feed (which has long been proven wrong and incorrect), the humidity in their tank was 15% (ball pythons need at least 60%), one snake had multiple stuck sheds on the face, and they were cohabiting. Ball pythons should not be cohabited unless to breed. Rant over.

2022-06-21This is a good Petco. I get my dog groomed here. While I wait, for him to be done, I can pick up some dog food or treats when I need to. The staff is friendly and helpful. It is located in a shopping district with a lot of shops to go to while you wait for your dog to be groomed. They do a great job on grooming my dog. You can even have a bite to eat as well. Its a bit pricey though. I have Petco rewards, you get points everytime you shop here.

2019-08-03PetCo of Rochester Hills Rocks the Pet industry. I have shopped at Many pet stores over Many years! In this area there are probably 10 pet stores in a 2 mile radius. I choose this store because of the Petco people. So friendly always..always smiling...always very helpful. No pretense here. Plain Ole fashioned pet loving people. Yes. They do have live pets for sale. No puppies for sale. No kittens for sale. 4 cats for adoption well cared for. Great assortment of reptiles! I love Tarantulas. Check out photo of Pink Toe.💜 And the Blue Iguana was gorgeous...Even when busy on a Saturday afternoon Petco peeps take the time to check on all guests. 4 and 2 footed! Pet too:. The Petco sofresh refillable container 30 lb. Is AWESOME 💜😁 bring back empty container, refill from bin, out the door. Very smart idea.

2021-09-30We get a specific brand of dog food for our pet. This specific Brand sells their bags of dog food for various different prices at various different stores. We go to Petco a lot so we usually just buy everything at Petco. Unfortunately Petco prices for this bag of dog food is $1-2 or so more than as other stores like target where we would normally get the dog food. But for the convenience because we buy all of our dog treats, pads, toys everything at Petco, we occasionally would just buy this dog food sometimes here at Petco depending on sales. So today we decided to buy this dog food at Petco because just for the convenience and we noticed that the online price of this dog food is different from the in-store price so we had asked for a price match and the assistant by the name of Amanda asked, is it really that big of a deal. To me I would think that’s probably pretty rude because to be honest as a loyal Petco customer I would think that I would like to buy all my things for my pets at one store. So if prices are better at target maybe I should continue buying all of my pet products at a different store and stop using Petco. She seemed very reluctant about honoring this price and we find out she did not honor it and did not care to see the price we found on Petco’s website. She even said she would check herself to make sure as if we were lying.. I’m pretty sure she is the one made this a big deal

2021-10-15I took Zoey(my fur baby) and she had such fun smelling and meeting people and other dogs. The staff was really great 👍 and friendly. Everyone really seemed to love animals and it was a great experience.!!

2021-02-07We went to Petco in search of new food for our senior dachshund and the new dachshund puppy were getting and ran into Mary in the food aisle. She was the most informative and helpful employee I’ve ever come across in a store. She was so transparent and helpful. She explained all the differences in the varieties of foods and what were our best options without pressuring us into anything. As we searched for other items she found us in the store and provided a coupon book for bringing home a new puppy. We scored a free bag or food and lots of useful other coupons.When checking out the manager overheard that we were getting a puppy and offered to give us a coupon for a free rabies shot! I was disappointed he couldn’t find and coupons however as we were loading up the car he came out into the parking lot with one he found in the back.Talk about amazing customer service. This experience alone has won me over and earned my business for sure. I’m so thankful for employees that enjoy their job and care about their customers! 🤗
