The restaurant is located in a beautiful and scenic location! The menu was very enticing with lots to choose from! I was a little disappointed there wasn’t a lot of dishes with chicken in it, but the food we did order was all great! The staff was very nice, but they may have been understaffed or something because it was very slow. The food was very expensive for what we had ($3 upcharge to substitute chips for fries seemed like a lot), but again, it did taste very good! Overall, good food, expensive, but a great view!
Good view, inside/outside seating, good food. Mozeralla Planks, Crunchy Chicken Taco and burgers were good. We came on a day where they were understaffed and got hit pretty hard, so service was a little slow. Nice laid back atmosphere. We would come back if we were in town again. Recommended by some of the local residents. Price was descent. I would rate this place a 5 if it werent for the slow service when we visited, but that may not be the norm. I would have to try them again to get a better idea. Food was good, people were friendly, atmosphere was laid back and views were good. On the outside deck they also have an awning for sunny days. We ate inside in the AC on a hot day!
Our family had dinner here one evening during our week-long cabin stay and were blown away at how good the food was. Service was very slow (we were always waiting on drink refills) but the food was SO good that I dont honestly think that warrants taking a star away. Really cool to be on the river with my family and we had a good time visiting. Would absolutely return and suggest to others.
The lemony caesar salad was delicious, Michael; the server was very attentive and knowledgeable. The plating looked appetizing and the ambience was great.I wasnt very pleased with my steak. I wasnt expecting it to be sweet, Im a savory girl. Other than that, we had a good time.
Crab cakes were amazing! Such great flavor..Pork tenderloin was cooked perfectly! Best mashed potatoes ever. My boyfriends salmon was cooked perfect and very tasty. Great portion sizes! Drinks were cold, service was great. Chocolate cake was to die for. 100% worth every penny. Great experience! 👏
Don’t mind waiting for good food, unfortunately, our experience was not a good one. Waited 40 minutes for a table. Ordered apps as soon as we were seated. Did not see our waitress for another 30 minutes. Apps were served cold. Soup arrived another 30 minutes later and finally diner another 25 minutes later. Served cold. Fish and fries were extremely salty. Ran out of cole slaw. Was not offered anything else. Told waitress to adjust our bill. Didn’t happen. And the kicker, both of our bills were wrong. First time was our last time. Only gave two stars because we were seated outdoors and had a lovely view.
Amazing service, delicious food!! I overly recommend. Fish n ships 10/10, burgers 10/10, and Calamari 100/10! They have delicious food and amazing service. Good cold drinks and the food was still warm, it was so cozy and beautiful views! Nice server. 5/5 100/100 amazing place! Definitely coming again.
Menu changes and is updated periodically so if you were there last year you have new options this year. Wonderfully different food experience, non-typical meal choices. I had beets, apple, goat cheese salad with green apple vinaigrette. Cannot get that just any place!!! Desserts are to die for so leave room.
Stopped by Pier M33 to have lunch with my wife and kids. Arrived around 1:30, not busy. Nice view sitting out on the dock. After we ordered drinks our waitress no where to be found. Finally received drinks after and then proceeded to wait another 25 minutes before we asked for our check. Our waitress said she thought we already ordered! Guess hard to get good servers these days. Will not be back.
We were so excited to try this place. We like to eat on the water, and enjoy good food with a glass of wine. We walked in and were seated on the patio. Beautiful view. And that was it. It was a Tuesday afternoon around 2:00, not crowded. There were 4 tables seated on the patio, including us, and 2 waitresses serving out there. Nothing! No one came to our table. We eventually tried to get their attention but they would run out to the other tables and quickly run back in, never even looking in our direction. After at least 20 minutes without one ounce of attention or a glass of water, we left. On the way out I asked if the manager was in. There were two girls behind the hostess stand, just chatting. They pointed at a woman doing paperwork at a table. I walked up and told her the above. She never stood up. Never introduced herself. She said well, you should have said something. Told her we tried. She said sometimes a waitress doesn’t know she has that table. Only two of them out there, not much to keep track of. She then said we are just short handed. No, actually 2 waitresses on one patio when it’s slow is not that bad. Finally, after all these excuses and not one apology, not once even standing up or saying one nice things to make us stay, I told her I just thought maybe you would like to know why people just leave. As we walked towards the door she yelled at us, from her lazy, seated position at her table, well maybe if you ever decide to come back you will say something next time! Nope, that will never be happening. If I were the owner I would have fired her on the spot. He probably thinks his managers try and retain customers. Dealing with her was much worse than the service! Go somewhere they want your business. Most restaurants now are quite happy to have you!
I’ve been here many times & have seen their menu change as new owners came and went. They used to have a larger menu that was more accommodating to vegans like myself. their bar is great, and probably the best part aside from the beautiful view of cheboygan river. the food is yummy, and the only reason i’m knocking off 2 stars is because the food menu is small & there are no vegan options so i can’t even eat there anymore. when i was vegetarian, i was able to find some things, but there is dairy or egg in everything. the staff is very friendly & the whole vibe of this place is so cute. as long as you’re not vegan, i recommend checking it out for drinks at least.
Fresh homemade everything !! The pasta was so delicious ! The steaks were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Thanks to Chef Eric for his love of cooking it definitely shows! The staff is so friendly and accommodating . We will return again and again !! Thank you for a great meal. See you soon.
Ordered take out, food was cooked quickly which was great! The server who helped me on the phone and when I came to pick up my food was also amazing! But I was really bummed to pay $5 for jumbo asparagus and only got 3 little spears. My salad was full of brown and limp greens and squishy croutons. I definitely felt tricked by the description for this meal and that I spent way more than I should have for what I received. I ended up giving my chicken to my dog, at least she enjoyed part of it.
View and food are good. Service was the worst I have ever had. We consistently had to remind our waitress of the numerous items that we were missing, beginning with silverware, when we could find her. It took an hour to get our food. Restaurant was half full. We ended up not getting everything we ordered which was simply things included in the dinners. We advised the manager and I think she thought we were just trying to get a free meal. Not the case. Happy to pay for a COMPLETE meal, delivered in a timely fashion. Did I mention all the dead flies on the window sills?
I purchased the 17.00 (shareable) Cuban sandwich on Saturday for lunch, which made two 3 inch pieces. My friend and I were sharing so we added fries for an additional 4.00, instead of kettle chips. The sandwich had maybe 1/4 inch of tasteless pork,1/2 teaspoon of something slaw like on a very firm, dry, tasteless roll. I didn’t complain to the waitress but I was so disappointed and apologized to my friend, who agreed, it was the worst sandwich ever.
What a remarkable experience. Our party made reservations around 12:00 noon Monday for 7:00 PM this evening. When we arrived by boat, we could tell that the restaurant was packed. When we arrived at the host stand, the hostess (Young lady with blondish hair) was a touch flustered due to the high volume of business, but was handling herself with dignity and poise. She told us that despite having a reservation, that there still may be a considerable wait. I asked politely to speak with the manager, and she was there within a minute. I explained to the manager who introduced herself as Julie, the situation, and she could not have been more gracious and polite. She understood the situation and took quick action. We wereseated within minutes where we enjoyedfantastic cocktails and a beautiful dinner served by our awesome server, Jenny. Our party of 4 ordered a variety of entrees and salads that were all delicious. As the General Manager of a high volume restaurant in Columbus, Ohio, it is rare that I will sit down and write a review, but felt the need to do so because of the amazing experience we had tonight.... Kudos, Pier 33, we had a great experience. I get your stress level. You responded as well as any restaurant staff I have ever seen. Well done.
4/25 Cold food, long wait, horrible service. Paid for our meal and left without eating it. No free meal for us. Hopefully they see this review and adjust.Waitress was literally the worst we have had. Here is the response from whomever at the Pier.1. Our bill was discounted the 2 pops we had apparently but we were not told that at the time.2. Yes we left the waitress a tip. She was bad but not her fault the FOOD WAS COLD.3. Too bad this was the type of response we received from a truly honest review.4. Lots of time to look at the security video but cant get a burger as and french toast out the door in under 30 minutes.5. Absolutely NO WAY there were 6 tables occupied. Maybe when we left, not upon our order.Hi Katie,Im sorry you did not have an enjoyable meal yesterday. Since I was not there I just watched my cameras to see what happened. Though Im sure you were unhappy, some of your details were not accurate. Your order was placed at 12:10pm and the food was served at 12:38, for a ticket time of 28 minutes, not the 45 minutes you thought it felt like. Yes 28 minutes is a bit long, but our chef was training a new line cook who had just started with us an hour earlier, so his process took longer while teaching the new cook. And though I cant dispute with you the temperature of the french toast, I was able to watch the cook take the french toast off the grill, cut it, place it on the plate and set it under the hot lamp. Then immediately, the server picked it up and put the raspberry preserves and cream cheese frosting on it. Her mistake was that the toppings were added cold from the refrigerator and she did not allow them to warm up under the heat lamp. My guess is that she wanted to serve the meals immediately instead. You mentioned the server chatting at the station behind you for 45 minutes, which isnt true. Your server was in the kitchen helping with prep most of the 28 minutes you waited. You mentioned only 3 other tables at most, and there were 6 tables at that time. You mentioned not eating your food, but I watched you both eat for 6 minutes after your food was delivered. Then you paid a discounted bill, tipped the server you say was inept, and abruptly left. And the server didnt charge you for your drinks because she felt bad that you were unhappy. I understand that you thought the wait was long, longer than it really was, and didnt want to ask the server to correct the issue of cold food, but if you would have told her, she could have addressed it with the chef. Sometimes common courtesy and understanding helps, especially when nobody wronged you on purpose.Thank you
The experience was so amazing last year I just had to come back! Although I was disappointed to hear my favorite dish is being taken off the menu :(. I hope they will run a special 3rd week in April for the lobster tots next year, hint hint. The staff, Lisa, Heather, Jenny & atmosphere are absolutely delightful!! Hats off to the Chef as well! I went yesterday and will be back today for another dose before heading home.. Thanks team for a great experience once again! Definitely a must stop.. see you next year or sooner!Renee’ Z
We tried to get take out because were not comfortable dining at restaurants during covid. After a long hold they finally took our order, then another very long hold while they figured out the price. When we got there the place was packed and nobody seemed to be following safe distancing or even wearing masks. When we finally got our food only two of the three meals were there. We called back and they had never charged us for it or made it, but they offered to put it in and we could come back to pick it up in 20 minutes. We did, and they ran a second charge for full price of the second meal. No discount or any other concession for having to wait after their screw up. And after all that waiting, the food was average at best. Definitely will not come here again.
We were in town for an event at the Cheboygan Opera House and found this great place for dinner. Its a beautiful setting with great food and service. I wanted a smaller meal because I knew I wouldnt finish the whole thing and Im a bit of a picky eater. I asked the server about modifying an item on the menu to exactly what I wanted. She said she would see what she could do. I wasnt expecting much since I was basically making up my own entree, but she came back and told me they would be willing to do exactly what I wanted and for a great price too! Everyone was absolutely wonderful and the food was delicious! Definitely recommend! Will come back if Im in the area!
Wow! Five of us had lunch here. Had a great rating and it did not disappoint. I had the Smokehouse sandwich and the others had the gourmet burgers. We ate out on the deck overlooking the marina. It was awesome watching the boats come and go while we enjoyed our meal. Service was great , just like the food. It will be a place to stop when ever we are in the area.
The food was very good. Gorgeous views and pleasant staff. I was more than pleased with my order. Very well thought out menu by the chef. Everything was very pleasing to the pallet. I will be back to see what else the chef comes up with! Very creative. Knows his stuff!
Their menus has plenty of selections covering a wide price range and flavors. Sure you’ll find something you like there. Beautiful river view with outdoor sitting is a plus. Special breakfast menus only for Sunday morning. They don’t open on Monday and Tuesday (during winter months). Will recommend to anyone.
I thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant not only was the food delicious, its presentation was just as good. One of its best qualities was that most of the dishes had a well thought twist to the average American dish making it all the more desirable. Where for most restaurants this goes horribly wrong but this restaurant does it horribly right. As for the service, our waitress Alexis was very attentive, knowledgeable of the menu, and was not to clingy. For the quality of the restaurant you would think that it might be pricy but its in everyones range. Overall I highly suggest a visit if your around I really dont have one bad thing to say about this fine restaurant.
After a day on the river we decided to stop at Pier 33 to grab a couple burgers to go. We had our pups with Us so we couldn’t dine in. When my husband walked in to put in our order he was told that they couldn’t serve us our take out because they were short staffed. Tell me how hard would it have it been to cook two burgers and put them in a to go box instead of plating it and delivering it to a table?Lost a customer.
I paid $15.25 for a Cobb salad which I thought was a little steep. When I got the salad, I noticed there were no bacon bits in it, which the menu indicated it came with. When the waitress finally came around to check on us, I mentioned that there were no bacon bits. She apologized and asked if I wanted her to bring me some. I said yes, they were supposed to come with the salad. She never brought them and I didn’t want to make a scene as I was with 7 other people. I will admit the salad was good without the bacon, but if I’m paying that kind of money for a salad, I want it to include everything it’s supposed to. I will not go back.
Worst dining experience ever. This restaurant rents boat slips in front of the restaurant. They obviously have no rules for them to follow. The rap music was so loud we could hear each other talk. They must not offer a pleasant dining atmosphere. I would strongly suggest going to another restaurant if you want to enjoy your meal
I really wanted to leave a higher rating because of all the favorable reviews, however I believe the meal I received was not worthy of a five star rating. Service was ok, beer selection was good, however for the money I should have received a much better entree. The seafood bowl was not worthy of a $30 price point, and was lackluster in both quality of ingredients as well as quantity of seafood to noodles. This would have been better off as a $12-$15 meal like some of the other entrées, not a high ticket item $30 meal. Also, upon ordering dessert, I was informed my choice was out which happens. I would have thought I would have received a discount on SOMETHING due to the lack of dessert availability as well as issue with the meal but received no such deal. I believe two stars is more than adequate for my dinner experience.
First time here, the service was great and friendly especially for up north Michigan where service is usually horrible. Very very good food also, a little pricey which is the the reason for the four stars, but youre paying for the waterfront dining right? Great place all around especially since you can host right up to the slips. We drove our boat right up to an open slip to dine in!
My experience here was not worthy of coming. Due to Covid 19 and going into the restaurant before we even got to the door the manager questioned my father about his health issues about not wearing a mask. Along with the manager physically hitting my cousin and aunt kicking them out of the restaurant before they can even help my special needs brother out of the bathroom. Not only that but but before my cousin and aunt got physically pushed out of the restaurant by the manager my cousin asked why all the kitchen staff wasn’t wearing masks. Why would you ever want to go to a place that’s going to be round before you can ever sit down. Not only that but the kitchen staff doesn’t have to wear a mask when there cooking your meal. Along while the manager saying that it was ok that they didn’t have to because it was hot back there and they weren’t even medically exempt. Why would anyone want to go to a place that’s going to be overpriced when they have a more of a possibility of getting Covid because they won’t wear masks in the kitchen.
A/C blew directly on our table of thirteen making all of us uncomfortable. I asked to have it turned off (the temperature outside was 63°), but was not done. I sent my food back, it tasted like the spices were stale. My granddaughter didnt eat her shrimp tacos. The chefs treatment of the shrimp failed. The sauce on my sons linguine was runny. Two others at the table could not finish their pastrami sandwiches doe to the overpowering smoke flavor. We had eaten there before and were satisfied.
Easily the best restaurant in Cheboygan. Great Happy Hour (all day on Sundays) featuring $3 Spanish Coffee, 1/2 off wine, and $5 off beer flights). Excellent beer menu featuring local breweries and an extensive variety of alcoholic coffee drinks. Peacefully intimate ambiance with a gorgeous view overlooking a river. Knowledgeable waitstaff. Great sandwiches too, though I wouldnt recommend the Reuben. Their versions of Pulled Pork and Chicken Parm were incredible.
Its hard to find a restaurant where the owners are trying to bring you the best quality possible. The food is unique, creative, and above all delicious. By far my favorite place to eat in Cheboygan. Quality is easily recognizable and usually you have to get out of town to find food this good. They even helped modify some of their dishes to suit my avoidance of wheat. Great work.
By boat (docking available) or by land this us a great place to eat - lunch or dinner. Eat inside or out w/great views of the water. Wonderful trendy food options & great staff. Open year around. So glad to have Pier M33 in Cheboygan! One of our top choices in Northern Michigan dining!
Was it turkey or was it fish? Screaming babies. Screaming parents who cant control their voice after one beer. Across the street from a pull behind camper park; Ill let the reader decide the consequence of this. Salt and more salt piled high with animal fat selections. Corn chowder was pretty good, however. Nice view. Should really expand menu with less fatty, salt items. How about broiled or baked white fish with steamed vegetables and rice.

2021-08-17Food and service was excellent!! As soon as I saw the chef’s name on the menu, I knew this place would become a favorite! It didn’t disappoint. Everything that we got for lunch was exquisite!! Bang-Bang-shrimp was the best that we have ever had! And we have had some good bang-bang. It was very flavorful, a combination of spicy and sweet without being too much of either. It was also good and crispy, and the shrimp was fresh. We also got the fish and chips, and it was delicious! I love that they give you the choice of 2 or 3 pieces of fish. Most restaurants would just give you 3 so they could make more money. Wife got the Michigan Cherry Chicken Salad Wrap and loved it! Oh yeah! This review would not be complete if I forgot to mention the view, which was just as good as the food. Love being able to enjoy the outdoors and still have scrumptious food!

2022-06-16We were looking forward to this dining experience per the write-up. Very disappointing! We were seated at a table after entering the restaurant. Sat ‘waiting’ for 1/2 hour, then got up and got our menus from the counter… waited another 20 minutes. We then asked the hostess if she could find our waiter for our table. Waited as she and another waitress debated who was suppose to have our table….Finally after waiting an hour, a different person came to the table & took our orders. Understanding these are difficult days with shortage of workers, it would have been nice if someone would have apologized for our wait.Being a party of 6, 1/2 of us were ready to walkout! Now, if I could say the food was great.,, but it was not anything to write home about!Disappointing experience to say the least!

2021-09-03Great location on the Cheboygan River with outside dining. Clean place with good food. Took my daughter there for lunch. Slow service. I dont recommend if you are on a time schedule. Although I think an hour for lunch Is more than enough.

2022-05-26My family and I are on a vacation up here from Missouri and we decided to stop in for some dinner one night and we came in around 5 o’clock and their was 2 other tables full in the place, very empty and still had a 50 minute wait for food…service was horrible and waitress was not very friendly. And for the food being very very overpriced it was not great, good but not great. We’ve been here almost 2 hours and are just now getting our check after we ate a while ago. I will not be going back. Don’t recommend.

2022-06-21We waited for over an hour for for cold fries, Perch with more bread than fish and overcooked. Service was terrible. Worst dining experience Up North ever. One star goes for the good view.

2019-06-27We really liked the location, the ability to sit outside, and the building. It was very clean and the staff was friendly. The menu has a bunch of options, which can be found online at their website. I would easily go here again. The reason it did not get 5 stars is for the execution of the food. Some of the meals were not made as expected, but it still tasted well.

2022-06-26Worst dining experience. Extremely Rude wait staff. Waited over an hour for cold food. Don’t bother going here. Loved Cheboygan, will not be going back here!!
