I have used Pilot for many years now at my home in Novi and now in Oakland Township and have always received outstanding service. Chris has always been honest and has done fantastic work. This past weekend my old furnace was not working and he took my phone call on Saturday and was out to my house by Sunday afternoon and within 30 minutes had replaced the burned out control board and ignitor. A few months ago, I had Pilot replace my hot water tank with a tankless unit and Chris and his crew were very meticulous about the installation and made it look nice and clean.
Very pleased with the service provided by Chris, Kevin, and the team at Pilot Mechanical. When my furnace went out, Chris was able to come over very quickly to diagnose the issue. After going over options, we determined replacement was the best route, and they gave me what I felt was a very fair price.Kevin the installer was out the very next morning to get started, and the first thing he did was lay drop cloths from the entrance of my home all the way to the furnace in the basement. Kevin provided a timeline at the beginning of the project, and was finished 15 minutes prior to his estimated time of completion. He explained various aspects of the project, installed and set up a new smart Ecobee thermostat, and answered all of my questions before performing a thorough cleanup of the work area.I would strongly recommend Pilot Mechanical. They were prompt, courteous, affordable, and very clean. I am very happy with every aspect of their service.
Just moved into our rent house and discovered that the heating system was temperamentalTo not raise an issue with our new landlord, we decided to have this checked out on our own. We found Pilot which had a large number of great reviews and was close by. Since it was after hours, I made an online request which was returned promptly. Chris came out when expected and quickly addressed the issue (which fortunately turned out to be minor).I strongly recommend Pilot Mechanical Heating & Cooling! Prompt response by a courteous and professional team with work being performed by knowledgeable technicians at a fair price. It does not get much better than that!
I called on Christmas Eve morning when my furnace wouldn’t turn on. Chris was at my house within an hour, diagnosed the problem and even had the new part on hand in his truck. I was thrilled to find someone so professional, personable, and reasonably priced, let alone on a holiday. I would highly recommend and will be keeping his business cards for family and friends.
Impressed with their professionalism. Had called for a new thermostat and to have furnace cleaned. Turned out we needed a new furnace. Not too surprised since furnace was over 30 years old. Provided all the info we needed to choose a new furnace. Competitively priced and they did an excellent job. Everyone I dealt with was a pleasure. Would definitely recommend.

I really enjoyed working with Pilot Mechanical when I replaced my furnace ad water heater. Chris was very friendly and patient . He carefully listened to everyone of my questions and made me feel comfortable. The team was very polite, efficient and helpful. They even cleaned up after they were done. Had Bryant (furnace) warranty work completed by Alberto and Kevin from Pilot today. They were professional, well mannered, and pleasant to have in the house. They took time to explain everything and were very clean. I thank Kevin for giving me tips on how to extend the life of my hot water heater, which was not even why they were there! Chris, the owner, is very nice to deal with and very fair, personable, and prompt. Highly recommend.
Amazing response time. Air conditioning was not pushing air through the vents. House would not cool down. Regular service company could not come out for two weeks. Called Pilot because of great reviews and the were here within 4 hours. Keven knew what was wrong immediately coils were frozen and insulation had come loose blocking air flow. Heavy duty filter was also restricting air flow. Needless to say my sister and I now have a new “go to” heating and cooling company. Thank you Pilot and Keven, great work.
On a Wed evening I came home from work to find my thermostat was out, which , after investigation, determined it was probably the furnace. I called Pilot Thurs. and was able to schedule an appointment with Jared for that evening. He arrived promptly as scheduled, was very thorough, knowledgeable, and patiently explained that I needed to replace my 21 year old Bryant furnace. My husband was out of town and he talked to him twice, explaining in detail what he had found and the advisement for a new furnace. He managed to get the furnace on in an attempt to heat the house some, but for safety purposes, advised I shut it off after the house had warmed. He spoke to the owner, gave me a price for the new furnace and install and elected to work on Sat so we could get it installed ASAP. He arrived the install day promptly , and he and his co-worker, were able to complete the task in about 4 hours, including honoring the coupon I had found on the website for a new thermostat. Throughout the entire process, Jared remained very professional, thorough , patient and kind. I would highly recommend this company for any type of repair/install. I am a nursing supervisor for a Home care company and understand how difficult it can be to find staff who represent the company appropriately and professionally. To Chris , the owner- Jared is a definite keeper! Kudos to him ! Definitely 5 stars!
Pilot Mechanical Heating & Cooling was super professional and absolutely affordable. They installed a new furnace and chimney liner, and did some ductwork for me in my home. I could not be more satisfied. The salesman Chris gave me an estimate that was accurate to the penny, and the installers Kevin and Alberto were extremely knowledgeable, super fast workers, and very friendly. My husband and I bought a house a few months ago and we were told the a/c would go any time. Of course the 1st hot day we turn on the a/c only to learn that it wasnt working properly. We called and spoke with Chris and he sent a technician out the next day. Turns out we needed a whole new unit. Our house is filled with ginormous windows up and downstairs and as I was in the process of getting blinds, COVID happened and had to put that order on hold. I have 2 kids (4 and 2 years old) and we were miserable. Plus it was Memorial Day weekend. Chris and his team were so amazing! We placed the order on Tuesday and he had it installed that Friday. Due to the structure of the home (not the fault of Pilot) we had issues with the new unit and it wasnt cooling our house properly. Chris himself came to our house a few times in the evening to get us through the hot days until he could get his team out for a half day of work. We could not even express our gratitude throughout this entire experience. The a/c unit is not only working beautifully but, the job was so neat that I didnt even have to clean up after them. They were so polite, so kind and so professional that I can honestly say this is the best customer service I have ever received from ANY company. After the unit was fixed, I received a text from Chris thanking me for our business and that he appreciated our understanding. He asked me to keep an eye on things and also let me know that he could sleep at night knowing the a/c was completely fixed. I just moved into this house provided by our church in Rochester Hills. They have been receiving service for the furnace and heater in this house, and I recently had to call them up again because the heater stopped working a few times. The one that was being used before was older and rusty, so it had been time to get a new one installed.I first met Chris awhile back, and ever since he stopped by, he was always professional, and honestly let us know that itd be worth looking into getting a new furnace to prevent the heating problems. Every time we needed emergency service done, wed have to keep paying service fees. A new furnace is by no means cheap, but we were able to get it installed after seeing it was the best option out of the several Chris gave us. Just a day later, the guys came over to install the new furnace which only took a few hours, and left before the night so we wouldnt have to worry about me sleeping cold again. The guys who installed gave me the product warranty paper as well, and I just filled it out online which didnt take long.Im glad these guys have been helping us, and if anyone needs service in this area, they should definitely check this company out. Chris answered every question we had, including ones that I asked that probably he was already asked about in the past, and even showed us some tips on how to clean and better care for the basement of the house. I also believe he took off a service fee because we went with the new furnace. Thanks guys for the good, hard work!
One evening, the house was not able to maintain the temperature set on the thermostat. Upon examining the furnace, I found the furnace was not running as often as it should. When I searched for a local service company, I saw Pilot Mechanical was highly rated. I called the next morning, and they were able to provide a technician to examine the issue that afternoon.After examining the furnace, the technician explained the various options to fix or replace the furnace. Since the furnace was 17 years old, I opted to get it replaced. The furnace was replaced the very next day. The technicians were courteous, thorough, and went above and beyond my expectations to make sure I was satisfied with their workmanship. I have already mentioned to a couple of neighbors how happy I was with your service, which is really a reflection of your great personnel. Chris and the Pilot team came highly recommended to me and they did not disappoint! The entire team was professional, courteous, and respectful of my family, my house, and my things. They kept communication open, giving me a one-hour window to be at my house and calling to let me know they were on their way. My air conditioner was not working, and I was given options instead of just being pushed to replace it. My furnace broke ( 2 days without heat) and I was having a problem getting a company to come help me now. When I called Pilot (Chris) answered the phone and knew, I was upset and cold. Chris said... Ill be there within 30 minutes. He arrived on time. Found and fixed the problem pretty quickly. Waited to make sure everything was good before he left. The Heat was On! Kim was happy! This companies prices are very fair and Chris is such a kind man.... He even texted me the following morning to make sure that I had no problems over night. The owner and staff are super personable and helpful. They helped us out quickly this winter when our furnace died. Chris and his staff are great to work with. His guys who installed our furnace and air conditioner were hard working and patient in explaining everything to us every step of the way!! They treat you like family and we really appreciated that!!
I spoke with Chris on the phone from Pilot over the weekend and he was more than happy to come out on a Saturday or a Sunday. Given that it was not an emergency, he got me scheduled on Monday. When Kevin showed up, he was very professional, took his shoes off at the front door and walked me through the process of what he found. It was quick, efficient and effective. My fiancé and I decided to trust Pilot with our hot water tank purchase/installation, and we couldn’t be happier that we did! Chris came out the same day to check things over and give us a quote, which we really appreciated because we were in a hurry – our tank was leaking. We thought Chris’ price was very fair, and we felt very comfortable with him as a person and the level of knowledge he displayed. Two days later, Chris and his crew installed our new hot water tank. They were all very professional and polite, going above and beyond to keep their workspace tidy and do the job right. Chris even cleaned out our dryer vent, which apparently really needed it, saving us from a potential house fire. Also, when I mentioned concern about rainwater penetration through the vents on the roof, one of the other guys kindly went up there and sealed around the vents. We are extremely grateful that a local, caring, trustworthy company like Pilot Mechanical Heating & Cooling exists. If we ever need HVAC services again, Pilot will be the first ones we call. 1 year ago we needed new AC unit and furnace. We have an older home and wanted to move the furnace a few feet closer to the wall and make the duct work la little less complicated. We worked directly with Chris, the owner of Pilot Mechanical, who was a pleasure to work with and did a wonderful job fabricating new duct work. Respected our home, worked with tarps put down on floor and left us with a system that has served us well. I waited ta year to write this review so that I we would have used both AC and heat first. Plan to use them for future service!
I would HIGHLY recommend Pilot Heating & Cooling. I had recently lost heat in the house and was unsure of the problem. I called Pilot and had a tech out within a day (even going as far as offering to send out a tech that day with concern of not having heat for another night). The tech was friendly, answered all questions I had, and took time to call around for a replacement motor and checking on the warranty (mine had burnt out and was a uncommon brand) all while still on site. The tech returned the next day with a replacement motor and had it installed within 20 minutes. The tech showed up both times in exactly the time frame they had given me as well. As a first time experience with my furnace, I couldnt be happier with the service I received and will absolutely be returning as a customer for future needs.
Pilot Mechanical repaired our home AC after it froze up this summer - since they initially installed the equipment, they covered it under warranty as well! Theyve become my go-to company for HVAC repairs - they also repaired two heating units at one of my rental properties. Excellent HVAC professionals and all-around good guys.
Chris and his crew are absolute professionals and showed up on time, as promised. My A/C was not running and they were able to diagnose and fix my problem on the spot without having to return. I cannot say enough about Pilot Heating and Cooling and the owner Chris Lalama!We have used him for a new furnace, air conditioner and hot water tank. Anytime I call, he is always available to help me. Our hot water tank was leaking on a Friday night. He was out within 20 minutes and had a new one installed in a couple of hours. Great work! I have had experience with them helping out at my Moms place and they did great work as promised. I needed them at my house and were top notch. Took a call late in the afternoon and showed up first thing in the morning!! They are professional and did a super job getting my furnace back on line.
I was very disappointed when I contacted Pilot on Dec 4th at approx 4 p.m. Our carbon monoxide detectors were going off at approx 215 pm. We contacted the fire department and there was significant measurements of carbon monoxide in the air in our home. Consumers also came out to find where the leak was coming from and it was from the furnace. The furnace was unsafe to turn back on until it was fixed, so I immediately contacted pilot to see if they could send someone out to evaluate and the response was the team was out on an emergency call and she didn’t think someone would be available to come and look at it today. She called me back around 5 and told me she didn’t have a response yet but the office was closing soon and she would take my number with her so she could contact me if someone could come out. What do you mean your office is closed? It says not only on our furnace and other sources that your company is available 24/7. Now I am not the kind of person that thinks someone should drop what they are doing to come help us, but this was not in the middle of the night, it was 4 pm. So there is no one available for the rest of the 24 hours in a day. After she told me at 4 pm that she may not have anyone available, I contacted another highly rated company in the area, obviously we can’t just not go without heat, especially with a 2 year old. So when I got a call back at 5, I told her that we already had someone coming out, since I don’t know when someone will be available from your company. So when this other company came to look at the furnace, they said it was the heat exchange, which I guess is a very common problem with Bryant, even if it is only 9 years old. We had the motor replaced within the last 2 years and apparently the cap wasn’t put back on by Pilot, which kept the furnace running when it shouldn’t have been, pumping out more carbon monoxide in the air. Now this is not my profession whatsoever, so this could be he said she said about the cap being not on, but the mechanic definitely wasn’t throwing anyone under the bus or bad mouthing, just informing us. Whether there was a cap on or not, it wasn’t the culprit of the leak but it’s scary to think about what would’ve happened if we didn’t have detectors. So I think I’m just wondering, is there supposed to be a cap on the motor and are you not actually open 24/7? Or do these offices close at 5 and no other way to contact in emergencies? I guess it doesn’t really matter now because we got a new 4500 Lennox furnace installed this morning, no thanks to this company.Well this is my response to the owner, which I already posted but it of course it never showed up. First of all the company did not fail to mention that that part was under warranty. They told us that the part was under warranty and it would just be the cost of labor, after more research we found that this part from Bryant May still be a problem in the near future and our family being protected by more exposure to carbon monoxide was a little more important. So it was ultimately our decision to replace the furnace, that was only 9 years old. Second, no one is saying that your office staff needs to stay in the office 24/7 but when we called at 4:01 pm it didn’t really seem like an option to have someone come out that day, the staff was out responding to an emergency. When the staff called back before going home, they did say they haven’t heard if anyone would be available for service that day but they would keep in touch if there was availability. We did respond that we contacted another company because we needed immediate service. I don’t see how anyone with little children does not think they need immediate service when it’s 28 degrees outside with no heat. So of course we are going to contact the next company for availability, and if they weren’t available we would’ve continued down the list. No company likes getting a negative review but this don’t downplay the fact that we didn’t have a pleasant experience and also that our motor was not installed properly with the cap left off.Have a good day
Excellent service. They replaced our furnace, water heater and central air unit. Everyone we came into contact with was very polite, professional and honest. They took the time to explain everything very thoroughly. They also were the most reasonable of the three other quotes we received. I would definitely use them again and would refer anyone to this service!
Chris and his crew came out and moved my AC Unit outside and gave my furnace a over-over during a home renovation. Couldnt be happier with them. Chris understood what I needed and didnt try to sell me on anything new. His crews were on time and finished the job in less time then I thought. Will and have already used them again at my business.
Very nice people to deal with, very onset, tried to help me over the phone to save me money and time in case if the problem is because of power or wi fi with my nest device.That’s my second time to use them without knowing any of them personally! Happy with the service and the way they dealt me.
My only regret is not finding this company sooner! Pilot installed a tank-less water heater when my family was in a bind, even though the company was already overloaded with service calls. I would trust Chris(the owner) with babysitting my kids - thats how much respect and trust I have for Pilot mechanical heating and cooling...
Called to get a quote for a new A.C. unit on Tuesday (May 29th). Set up a appointment for the next day between 5:00-6:00 pm. Now 7:00 pm, no call and no one showed up. If someone calls me with a good excuse explaining why this happened Ill update my review.This is a updated review. Chris from Pilot called me this morning to explain that the reason why he didnt show up or call...long story. I had another company give me a quote today and I ended up buying a A.C. unit from a different company. So, I really dont know much about Pilot except that Chris seems to be a real down to earth honest businessman.
Chris, the owner, was extremely helpful resolving an issue with my furnace. We are not current customers; however, Chris took the time to troubleshoot the issue over the phone which ultimately led to the problem being resolved. We will certainly be customers in the future!!!
I had a very difficult time scheduling an appointment and then no one showed at my appointment time.Edit: I never received a call back from any person in the office. When I did finally talk to someone, they did tell me that they werent sure about my issue and told me that they would put my appointment on the books and if there was an issue, they would call me back. They did not. I called several times. Left more than one message.
I highly recommend Chris and his team at Pilot Mechanical, they are professional, courteous, trustworthy and most importantly highly skilled. They do it the right way the first time. Actually at begeining I booked another company (Parker Brothers) to replace the leaking water heater. They supposed to come at 10-11am on Monday, but never showed up and even did not response my phone calls later. Till 4:30pm I called Chris, the owner of Pilot and asked if he could stop by. He did in 20 mins. After he explained me more about the water heaters, I realized he was very nice, professional, and honest (I told him we might need to replace the humidifiers because of leaking, he told me there should have no problem if changed the bigger size water lines.) We set up time for today 1pm. My door bell rang at 1:05pm (I saw their trucks on my drive way at 1). That impressed me already. I loved to watch their working! So efficient, professional and neat! Chris and his 2 young crews are amazing!!! They replaced my 2 water heaters. They also reopened the (stupid) sealed ground drain cover, replaced the water pipes of 2 humidifiers (then my humidifiers work perfectly, no leaking any more as Chris predicted) with no charge. Chris even changed the 2nd floor heater/cooler thermostat for me and only charged a kind of thermostat material cost. Thanks God, Parker brothers did not show up, then I found Chris and his company! I really appreciated Chris and his crews for their awesome work, and strongly recommend Pilot Mechenical Heating and Cooling to anybody! (p.s. This is the 1st time I wrote the review for the company I used for house work.)

2022-02-12I placed a call to Pilot for a new hot water tank. Talking with Chris, he did not try to sell me on unnecessary upgrades. He told me what the perfect tank would be for my house and family. The crew was at my house in less then 24 hours and replaced the tank. The technicians described everything that needed to be done. They were polite, clean, and efficient. I will not waste my time anymore calling around to other companies for any mechanical need. I am a life long Pilot Mechanical customer !!!

2022-03-30Recently had to replace my furnace and AC systems, so I called Pilot. This was an easy choice as I had used their services before. My installation of furnace, AC system, and thermostat went flawlessly. From the first contact with Chris, Jared, and Wendy, everything was great. 2022-05-07I definitely recommend using Pilot Mechanical! We had a new furnace/air and hot water tank install. And Duct/vent cleaning.They have the best price Chris didnt try to over sell or under sell! Chris Told is exactly what we needed. Very easy to talk to. And No one else could even touch their price!!They were on time. Great work! Very friendly and professional!Left no mess! And price was exactly what they said it would be. 2022-01-26I used Pilot before for maintenance on my old furnace but it was old and needed replacing so I decided to get a new furnace and AC for a great price . Words cannot describe how happy I am that we used this company AMAZING, CLEAN, HONEST, RESPECTFUL and I can go on and on. They did such a wonderful job installing and cleaning up after. I’m just glad now that everything works great and is energy efficient.

2022-06-21Pilot Mechanical is consistently terrific for all of our HVAC issues. They are polite, keep us posted on schedules, and are very easy to work with. Their installers took on a difficult attic install and did a great job cleaning up. They were even willing to feed the fish in our absence!

2022-03-30I worked with Chris. Very professional, nice, and helpful. He went out of his way to help and seemed to be doing his work more to help me rather than make money. I would recommend him.My furnace broke in the middle of the night (~3am) 3 days before the New Year. I contacted Pilot Mechanical and was put in touch with Chris. Before coming to my house, we walked through some troubleshooting steps over the phone so he could be more prepared in coming to do the repair. He wasnt able to come until early afternoon (other appointments already scheduled), but once there, he was able to quickly determine what was broke. Unfortunately due to the COVID supply chain issues he wasnt able to find the part, but was able to put me in touch with a separate repair company that was a direct supplier of my furnace (Rheem). This was awesome. This separate company (Andys Statewide) was able to get the part and come do the repair for me. While Chris didnt end up fixing my furnace, I was very pleased by the fact that he didnt care to lose business - he just cared that we got heat back in our house.

2020-06-29Chris came out and provided a detailed explanation for the full replacement of my furnace and air conditioning unit. Pricing was very fair and compared with (3) other competitors, I felt comfortable giving him our business. Alberto and Kevin completed installation. They were polite and professional, provided a great walkthrough once the job was completed. Highly recommend them!!

2021-04-30I wanted to share what an amazing job that Jared and Brendon did for my family and I. Not only was their workmanship absolutely impeccable (the Gold Standard for Pilot Mechanical, every time, as this is the third time we have used Pilot for our HVAC needs), but they were extremely respectful, friendly and courteous.
