Plum Market in other cities:
Way overpriced but good food. Poor management, they do a bad job at keeping customers in line. The manager always occupies a table at lunch, forcing customers to sit with strangers, while she has a 3-4 person table to herself to do her work. Luxury prices should come with a luxury experience.
Way overpriced. Hardly any traditional food. For example: Theres no such thing as a turkey sandwich with mayo, lettuce and tomato. It will have some sort of sauce Ive never heard of, on a bread Ive never heard of, and additional random toppings. Plus its packed - Not a lot of space to walk through the store.
For the longest time the core of Detroit had 2 choices, any of the generic Spartan Foods supermarkets or Whole Foods. Now there is a third: Plum Market. While it is a little on the pricy side, it packs a wide variety of food from all over. It also features a Zingermanns Cafe and a full service hot food bar/salad bar. They even have a Moet vending machine which is worth trying out(it costs 20$). Their plants/floral department is also quite nice.
Plum Market... where your groceries have sales tax because there’s a table and chairs. Can’t even buy some unwashed grapes without paying sales tax. Everything is overpriced and they spray perfume/scents on their packaging to trick your brain into thinking it is fresh. The employees are rude and hood. And they probably couldn’t afford the grapes. This is a joke in Detroit the poorest city in the country. I’d rather go to eastern market and support Michigan farmers and Detroit small-businesses to help our local people prosper, not make some greedy millionaire in Oakland county richer.
Will not too good because I took my uncle down there to do a little shopping and he 75 years old and lives hes a senior on disability and he receives SNAP food benefits any told him they wouldnt honor his his benefits at that store downtown only the store in the suburbs hes been living downtown Detroit for the last 25 years way before plum market even had an idea coming to so were thinking about getting a lawyer and filing a civil rights case against 😕🤔🤔👎👎👎👎

2019-07-05Don’t expect anything more than a deli / bar / convenience store and you wont be disappointed. Nice staff and very clean. Limited selection that consists of mostly healthy snacks, beer, wine, milk and fancy soaps. Also everything is fairly expensive. All the food looks good so I cannot really speak to the delis quality other than the pot pies are not great. Also has a bar that serves alcohol.-NoneMoreHip

2022-07-15They should have called it a Plum Market Express or something - it basically has an expanded gas station selection. Its sandwiches, flowers, booze and some dairy. No eggs, no produce and only open during typical business hours. Its new and clean, but if youre in the area and actually need groceries, youre better off walking over to Eatori or driving to Meijer/Whole Foods.

2022-06-16I stopped here after work to get a salad and was disappointed to find Plum does not carry any fresh produce at this location. This is more of a beer and wine shop than a grocery store. I went home empty handed.

2019-08-15Very nice store lovely set up a little tight but very nice. A little bit on the expensive side certain items but thats the price for downtown. Buffet Standard price, set up was nice and food was hot. Service was great.

2019-09-19An absolutely wonderful experienceIt is above my pay grade but it’s mainly for people who live and work in downtown the food looks and smells delicious they have plants, greeting cards, a champagne vending machine, hot food, self serve food, baby items, and little snacks.

2020-01-14I really like Plum Market because it makes good and healthy food accessible and quick. I have eaten from the self serve bar several times and although it is a little pricey for the amount of food you get, the food is always fresh and well stocked. Around lunch time, the market gets pretty crowed, but it is well staffed so the line moves quickly. I like their salad bar because they have lots of fresh veggies, cheeses and other toppings. I have only eaten from the salad bar, but they have a good variety of other options like cooked veggies, chicken and tofu.

2020-03-22The best market around. The employees are amazing and Paul goes above and beyond with not only his customers but his employees also, so much respect from all the staff. What a pleasure it is to visit his store. Please try the deli also, simply amazing. Thank you for bringing this wonderful market to Detroit, we all LOVE IT!!!!

2019-07-07If youve been to a Plum Market you have an idea about the grocery side, but youve never an urban grocery store like this. They claim essentials (which they definitely have, from the usual high-end, organic, and sustainable sources), but this location is so much more. A bar that serves specialty coffee drinks, beer, wine, and pastries. A large hot and cold bar. An entire wall of refreshing drinks. Theres also ample seating and an outdoor patio. This Plum Market is perfect for a quick snack and drink, any time of day.
