Your business came recommended by our friend, Customer Hannah Parker. Our son is a student at Ferris, and we live three hours away. His car was in desperate need of repair. Jake was very courteous and professional and paid attention to our needs. He was very informative and kept us up to date along the way. He is to be commended, as are the mechanics who worked on our 2009 Nissan Versa. I wish more businesses followed this practice -- of serving the customer and making them feel like theyve known them for years. Job well done. THANK YOU!!
We had recently purchased a used motor home on a Spartan Chassis and were experiencing a very rough ride. We had called Spartan directly but couldnt get an appointment for months. They recommended Quality Car and Truck Repair and were glad they did. They did a thorough chassis inspection and found everything in great shape except for a rear ride height valve. It was quickly fixed and we were on our way in short order. We have travelled all over the country for years and used many truck shops for service. Jeremy and his crew at Quality are top notch and one of the very best. Highly recommended.
Jake worked above and beyond on my car. When things happened that were out of his control he still took charges off of my bill to help me. He has awesome customer service and called me personally to update me often. Super nice guy and awesome place, i’d 100% recommend to anybody and everybody!!
Excellent customer service; professional and kind. Quality work at a good value. We live in Kalamazoo, MI and were heading to the Upper Peninsula to our cabin. After a stop to grab a few groceries our 2004 Toyota Sienna would not start. We knew it was a starter, but knowing the problem did not prevent us from being stranded in Big Rapids with two dogs and a cat in the car.We consulted with Dave at Quality Car & Truck Repair, Inc. He cleared Adams schedule and promised us if we could get the van to the shop they would be able to fix it and send us on our way. It was a Friday and the shop closed at 5:00, but Adam agreed to extend his work day to help us out. The tow company hustled to get the van there by 4:15 and Adam went to work. In short order our van was moving again. We were impressed with the quality of the work and the kindness of Dave and Adam to stay past closing time on Friday to get us back on the road.
Our car was making a grinding noise and we needed to have it looked at. It was 3:00 on a Friday afternoon and We were 300 mi from home. We didnt know anyone in the Big Rapids area but AAA came to our rescue with a recommendation for Quality Car and Truck Repair. What a great place! Dave had us come right over and they test drove the car and then thoroughly inspected it for any structural issues. Although considerable time was spent on this process, the service was gratis since we were members of AAA. Thanks to Dave and all the other great people at the shop and thanks to AAA for a terrific recommendation.
I stumbled into the shop hoping someone would have answers to a slew of electrical AND mechanical issues with my 2010 chevy malibu(....garbage car btw)- once the vehicle was in, they confirmed (along with a few other things) my suspicions and that the BCM was failing.Long story short: they went above and beyond taking care of the car and keeping me informed and looking out for me 100% of the time.Unfortunately I, like many people, am usually very suspicious of mechanics and always on the backfoot when told about additional repairs. However, I can sleep easy knowing theres still some honest techs out there who actually care and are capable of honest work with no hidden angle. All at a great cost, no less.Jake and the techs are superstars and I cannot recommend them enough to anyone in or near Big Rapids.
“General Repairs” fixing oil leak.My car is a VW Toureg and therefore some parts needed were difficult to find. The car was in the shop for 3 weeks because of the parts issue. Jake worked hard searching for the parts and finally found everything needed. The repair estimate was quite high but when I paid, Jake had been able to lower it by $800 which made me very happy. This is my go-to auto repair shop.
My son needed repairs to his car. I called, made an appointment and had the car towed to the shop. They wanted to charge us over 1,000 dollars to replace a battery, a battery cable and a starter on a Cobalt. This was only one of two problems that needed attention. They did not even look at the other problem. We had the car towed home and had both problems fixed for much less than his estimate and that included the towing bill! Do not use this shop. Even gave attitude when we told them we were towing the car. stating Good luck with that towing bill. Steer clear!!!
Thanks again Jeremy, you have the customer service touch. Broke down on our way back to Tennessee from visiting my parents in Suttons Bay. Wire came lose and took out my serpentine belt. Jeremy was top notch, was going to a dealership but they wouldnt put us above there appointments. Even though we were stranded. Jeremy did, and kept us in formed, did only want was needed to get us home. No making things up to gouge a stranded traveler. Quality place. Jeremy if you ever want to relocate to someplace not as cold, the volunteer state of Tennessee would be honored to have you.
My sixteen year old Land Rover had an ‘Air Suspension Fault’ light illuminate on the way to my cottage, thus lowering the truck completely so the tires were against the wheel wells and totally not drivable. After spending the better part of a day calling around to see what, if any, shops work on Land Rovers, I spoke with Dave, their service manager. He said they could look at it the following week, but would try to sooner. A couple days later he called back saying it would be $1100 and it would be done later that day. When he called to let me know it was finished, he also apologized and told me the price was actually $250 less than he quoted. The could have charged the extra $250 and I wouldn’t have been any the wiser.Very honest folks and highly skilled engineers/mechanics. I would recommend them to anyone.
We were heading home on Sunday from a camping trip when a radiator hose broke. We were 1 ½ hours from home and pulling a 33ft travel trailer. We couldnt be towed home because of the trailer, so we had to get to the closest repair shop which happened to be Quality Car & Truck. Monday morning, after camping in their parking lot over night, I met the first person to show up for work as he arrived. He told me they had a month and a half backlog already, but would at least take a look at it to see what the problem was. Not knowing whether we were stranded for only a day or if it would be days before we could get home, we waited for the diagnosis. In just a short time, we were ecstatic to find that it was just the hose that needed to be replaced, and they would get us back on the road that day. We cant thank or praise them enough for their efforts to accommodate us with the situation we were in. With their schedule already overloaded, they didnt have to do what they did. All I can say is that these guys are great. I wish they were closer to where I live. They would have all my business - both personal vehicles as well as all my company vehicles.
I had my ‘08 Escape inspected there; they were upfront about how much it would cost and gave me a copy of the 4-page checklist they use for the paid inspection. They also gave me an itemized estimate for the things they found that need to be repaired and were professional and personable with me. I plan to return.
Quality Car and Truck Repair is everything they claim to be. They give quality service that shows with their every interaction with the customer. When I moved up to big rapids for school I relied on online reviews to help me find an honest place to get my oil changed. After meeting the staff, being informed and advised on every job Ive had done on my 15 year old car, and being treated so well by everyone there I know I made the right choice every time. Now that I have moved on from Big Rapids I just wish I knew of more honest, hard working guys like these to help me get a few extra years out of my car. Thanks Quality, and thank you for 2 years of quality service!!
They have a very nice, professional shop. The staff was courteous. 3 stars because i had to wait nearly an hour to get 4 new tires mounted an balanced.....maybe it was lunch time?... There were some 60s muscle cars there which leads me to believe the techs appreciate those gems from the 60s....i called about a price quote, they said they would get back to me , but didnt so i called later in the day...so far i trust the techs and i will talk to whomever will be working on my car before and after the works is done...i will write another review for prospective customers.... ...as of late thec master tech said the parts supplied for the job were incorrect...and he explained to me why this was so.....i checked with the manufacturer and the part was indeed correct.......i respect the mechanics opinion.he said he couldnt make the replacement done safely.....still 3 stars , i was charged labor for the work that couldnt be done.
My husband took his truck here to get repairs, it had been sputtery and not wanting to start. He told them to fix that problem and the brakes needed work too. The truck was there for a week (given it was the week of Christmas), they were terrible at communicating what was going on, and when he picked it up they told him they had to replace a brake line that blew while they were test driving it. Its an older truck so Im sure it was bound to happen but shouldnt you call before you charge us for an unexpected repair like that? So he drives it home yesterday and the sputtery problem still is not fixed after $1000 in repairs. Will NEVER go here again, and I will warn others not to go here.
My family has been bringing our vehicles here (for oil changes mainly) for many years. They have the best price for oil changes in the Big Rapids area. What I like most is that they go over your vehicle during the oil change and look for problems such as bad brakes, fluid leaks, tire problems, etc. at no extra charge. They will do a great job with your vehicle! They have excellent customer service. Nice waiting room and good coffee & hot cocoa, too.
Took my car in because check engine light was on and the car was not shifting right. they had the car for 4 days before the problem was solved. Very professional at the front desk even though they had to hunt down the tech working on my car. We agreed on a repair cost and they held up their end of the deal. At least they were honest and fixed the issue (a bad wire to the control module. No problems since.
I depend on Quality Car & Truck Repair to maintain my cars. Am confident that they will provide the appropriate service, in a timely fashion, at a reasonable price. Have never had reason to conclude otherwise. They are a friendly group, as well, and, they give me a ride to/from my workplace while working on the cars.
My cars electrical system started acting strange, locking and unlocking my doors and turning my light on and off. I called about 2:30 and they told my to come right away. They quickly figured out the problem, did a temporary fix, ordered a new part and had me on my way. I couldnt be more satisfied.
I have not had any auto service done at Quality Car & Truck in Big Rapids, because I live in Apex, NC; however, I did buy a car that was serviced for a number of years by Quality Car & Truck. When I contacted Don & asked if I could have a copy of the service history, he went out of his way to send me copies of the work orders along with the mileage & service dates (no previous owner info was included, but I didnt need or expect that). As the vehicle is a rare model I am restoring & parts & service are not always easy to obtain the work history is very valuable to me. If I lived in Big Rapids or near by I would take my vehicles to Quality Car & Truck. Don Walcheski is a real gentleman.
We had a tire blow out on our van on our way to a conference out of state. The owner took it upon him to oversee all other tires and inspect it since we were borrowing it. He personally worked on it and made sure we were on the road when we needed to be! Cant praise all the staff enough! Outstanding service! Highly recommend!!!!
Huge thank you to this shop for taking car of my wife and our 3 little boys (age 5 and under). They broke down near Big Rapids while driving home from vacation, 1 hour away from home, at 3:30pm on a Friday afternoon. This shop graciously took care of my family, and got our van all fixed before they closed at 5:30pm. Breaking down while on vacation is the worst, but I was sure happy that my family was well taken of while in a difficult spot. Thanks!
I stopped in for an oil change today on my 87 Mustang. I told them before they got the car that it had a power steering leak that I would like them to take a look at. The adviser informed me that they will do a visual. After an hour and 20 minutes of waiting, I was told I had an exhaust and some bushing dry rot. No mention of power steering leak, which is actually pretty bad at the moment. The oil change guy brings the car around and he walks in. I thought.. my god that guy is filthy. I am not talking about normal shop repair filth. He was just an absolute mess. So I go out to my car and the door is left open. I get in to start the car and I feel a weird film on my keys. I put the car in reverse and by this time my hands have brown colored oil film on them. I grab the steering wheel and more filth. By this time I am quite livid about the situation. I go back inside to get paper towels and wet them with soap. I go back out to wipe stuff down. I notice oil smeared all over the door panel. It was almost like he held it open with the end of his boot. I go back in to get dry towels. The adviser asks if there was oil left. He informed him that their oil change guy is an absolute mess and that he needs to clean up. Needless to say, I was not happy and they will never touch my car again!!Oh and in regards to the one review about the best prices on oil change.. I would gladly pay $10-$15 more for an oil change where I didnt have to wait an hour and 20 minutes only to have to clean my car afterwards.
I was very impressed with the knowledge of this shop. They fixed my car really quickly. I also brough my wifes car in to have them do a look over and see if there was anything going wrong. I have found them to be honest every time. Its hard to find a good mechanic...bough finally I did. This really is a great place. They get the car in and out quickly which is my biggest concern. I wouldnt go anywhere else. Great price too...pretty much unbeatable when it comes to tires.
This is a professional crew. The brakes failed on my motorhome and this team had it back in tiptop shape in no time, they also repaired extra items I listed. Also they had the faclities for my wife and I to spend the night in the motorhome. Thank-you everyone at Quality Car and Truck. Oh, and Big Rapids is a very nice town. KR
We had a breakdown taking teens home. They got is in right away. Only took a few minutes for them to identify the problem. The repair required a lot of time, due to the nature of the need. They were helpful to be sure we could get to a place for the night, since it was a major repair. They also called shotly arfter opening the following day to let us know we could get back on the road. God bless you for getting us in rigt away
So I got my oil changed here and the next day my car wouldnt start. I had someone try to help me start it and they said my hood release lever was broken completely. Actually the wire was unattached. The last person to open my hood was at this place and they completely denied it happened there. This is ridiculous bc this did not break on its own and they would have known it happened. I would have understood if they said it broke and they were sorry about it and they could give a deal on fixing it since it happened there. They did not not do anything to try to help me out. Just said, sorry for your bad luck. Needless to say I will not be going here anymore nor recommend this place to anyone else.
I and 9 other ladies were on a moms retreat weekend vacation from Kalkaska to Peoria. We were just north of Big Rapids when we blew a tire. Luckily some of us had AAA insurance. The van we borrowed from a fellow church in Kalkaska and all 10 of us ladies were taken to Quality Car & Truck. The owner and all the gentlemen working there were so hospitable and fixed the van in such a timely manner. Us ladies were provided a lounge area to rest with coffee, tv, WiFi....it was lovely!! Thank you so much!!!☺
A year after moving to a different state, I called to see what maintenance had been performed at this location so I knew what needed to be done now. They were VERY helpful, not just telling me what had been done, but even offering advice about what should be done now and what sort of prices I should expect.

2022-05-03Outstanding customer service. They coordinated fleet, multi-package bundles, and on a personal note was the only AAA Certified Auto repair center within 40 miles of Big Rapids, Michigan. I was able to utilize this service when my RV broke down North 131; on a busy summer weekend. I utilized their 24-hour Dropbox. Quality Car and Truck Repair contacted me Monday AM, and after getting the details, they stayed in touch with me throughout the entire process.Excellent work, you dont find this type of customer service anymore. Highly recommend services on Heavy Duty, Fleet, RV, and Personal Auto Repairs. Thanks, Don!

2022-01-26From my initial appointment setup to picking up my car it was a great experience! I had a noise when I applied my brakes on my car and dropped it off for a brake inspection. Repair on my brakes was even lower than my initial quote and they even call you with updates, which I really appreciated! Excellent customer service and I will use them for future repairs.

2022-06-25This is the only place I’ll have my vehicles serviced. They get it right the first time. Everyone is so friendly and take their time to explain things. They are always reasonably priced. I love that they advise so well, and aren’t pushy at all.

2022-04-08Nicest people Ive dealt with lately very respectful, willing to work with you. They took a lot of the stress away, I brought them a POS 100 miles after I brought the car from a car lot. The car lot washed their hands of our vehicle of course once it was paid for. I will recommend these guys to anybody that needs vehicle work.

2022-06-27👎‼️🚫 100% COMPLETE FAIL‼️🚫👎Here’s why… they didn’t repair the problem but charged me $800!!! Also, they never called to let me know that it was ready and they were rude to my mother when I dropped her off to pick it up (as if the towing fee + gouging my wallet $800 wasn’t bad enough!).This shop (QCTR) had my 2014 Cadillac CTS which I dropped off there only 3 weeks ago because it had overheated due to a coolant issue. I suspected a leak (although there were no tell tale signs of any, as there was never anything on the garage floor where it’s parked) only after the dash temperature light came on, I pulled over (Lowe’s parking lot, Big Rapids), lifted the hood and noticed that the coolant reservoir was nearly depleted. I was completely surprised when it happened since it is impeccably maintained, had no prior issues, and was purchased roughly 1-1/2 years ago at a reputable new/used dealership in Holland (where they gave me documentation that the car had no existing issues other than that the spark plugs would need to be changed in about 6 months). JUST FOUR DAYS AFTER THE CAR WAS PICKED UP, IT HAPPENED AGAIN!!! This time, I had it towed to my home since it was late & I was close to home. I originally had planned to have it towed but, ended up driving it to Quality Car & Truck Repair, Inc (they told me that since the car was completely cooled down, it would be safe to drive it to them) because the tow driver I called and was going to use said that it would more cost effective to have it towed to a shop that was closer to where I was so, I told him that I’d call him back after I called some repair shops in Big Rapids… when I did, I expressed how uncertain I was about going to a business without knowing their reputation (I did read their reviews online) and I shared with him the name of the shop I was leaning towards (all the other shops I called were booked 2-3 weeks out) and asked if he knew anything about them. He told me that he didn’t personally know them but had heard that they were pretty reputable so, I decided to take it there (QCTR)… the tow driver didn’t end up making any money from me but, he seemed kind and quite genuine (I don’t recall the name of his business).I’m reluctant to have them attempt to repair it again but, I’ve invested almost $1,000 in this UNRESOLVED issue so, I’m going to call them tomorrow to see if they are interested in analyzing the problem, standing behind their work and getting the job done right at no additional cost. I will post an update after I speak with them. ***Side note: I would so inclined to give them a completely stellar review if they can successfully address the aforementioned.

2022-07-01The soups here are great as are sandwiches. I like the Cheeseburger soup. Have them grill a Pecan roll sliced horizontally on a clean hot grill using lots of fresh butter. You will be back.

2022-01-21I took my car here for maintenance and a check engine light. They reset the light and told me they couldn’t get it to come back on so they didn’t fix what was some transmission code. Of course the light came back on a few miles home. They also did find a $700 alignment issue. I mentioned I had a warranty and would that cover it and the guy said oh idk. I ended up paying as it was a safety issue. The biggest problem I have is I set an appt and asked for a ride which was a service they offer. In the past this place has been great but this time the guy said he was the only one and too busy to give rides even though I had even used some coupon they offer to get one. He told me they are short staffed and have no good applicants and even though I made an appt he didn’t have time to do work that day so I happily left my car for the weekend. They didn’t fix what I took it in for and just made me feel like me being there was an inconvenience. This is not the same atmosphere I took my car to years ago with such great service and now I’m questioning if there was even something wrong with my alignment

2021-10-08These guys are fantastic, and go well above and beyond to help their customers. While our family has yet to have major repairs on our new-to-us car, they did a thorough inspection and gave us a totally honest assessment of what they found. The pricing is more than reasonable for the work they do. There is no sales BS or pressure at Quality Car & Truck Repair. It is a reliable, down-to-earth, knowledgeable, and honest business that I will be patronizing for years to come. Thanks guys!
