Comment: They have been selling and repairing sewing machines before I was born. My mom bought her sewing machines here and weve taken them here for tune ups and repairs for years. Some Elna parts are not being supplied since COVID (yes 3 years so far as this post) so we werent able to get the last repair done in a reasonable time. But when the party comes in we will take the machine back in to have them fix it.

Comment: Friendly staff, timely service. Brought our machine in on a Saturday and it was ready by Wednesday; picked it up that following Saturday. Cost $90 to repair and tune our machine, very happy with results.

Comment: Ray had a sewing machine to sell for my neighbor on consignment. She upgraded and he said he would sell her last machine. He Kept it for a year, sold it on installment and has not paid her. So many excuses! Doesn’t answer the phone! On my way to file a small claims action against him. You will regret buying anything from Rays Sewing Center!

Comment: Ken just lives and breathes these machines! Amazing sales and service, plus a real, genuine sense of multi-generational-family-pride in the business! I can honestly say as a new sewist, the Rays Special is so intuitive and easy to use it has made the craft so much fun, and its taken all the intimidation out of it.

Comment: I took my ELNA sewing machine to fix the needle wheel and clean and oil it and right now that I take it out to use it, I look and the wheel is still not working and its dirty. The only fix was the case and it charged me $ 116 Dollars,thats a robbery.and he didnt said nothing about the repairs.

Comment: Took Janome sewing machine in for recurring damage problem with bobbin holder.Owner recognised issue and immediately corrected it and replaced with new bobbin holder. Gave advice on care/maintenance and advised using a separate thread holder stand. Was in and out in under 20 minutes. Machine has performed very well since.

Comment: We bought an embroidery machine from Rays several years ago. My wife has made lots of creative things since. We have had a few issues with the machine due to so much use. Rays repairs have been great and reasonably priced. Their classes, when allowed due to COVID-19, are great! They have great new machines that we may pick up one some day.I highly recommend Rays to anyone looking for an embroidery machine or supplies and service for the same.

Comment: What an amazing resource we have right here in the Bay Area! If you are looking to buy a Sewing machine, or get one repaired this is the place. Ken demod his Special Edition Janome machine and it is amazing! His dad even designed some of the attachments and the free motion quilting device. Of course I brought my old Husqvarna in for repair which I will be giving to a friend. All repairs done in house by this amazing family owned gem. Dont retire Ken!

Comment: With all these great reviews I hate to share our experience. Our machine was not driving the needle, something was slipping as we could hear the motor spinning, sometimes it would catch and work. Took machine to Ray’s center for a repair. Paid $95 and brought it home supposedly fixed. Same problem as before, it does not work. Took it back and was told that the belt was good and that there was a rough spot on a wheel, so we took it home. Not working. I was intending to polish the wheel. I pulled the top and end cover off and the problem was obvious. The drive belt was disintegrating and clearly very loose. It was absolutely dirty inside from belt particles. If this machine was even examined this is really shoddy work. Was any repair work, inspection, done here at all since I could find the problem so easily? Found a belt on-line, A1 sewing machine. com, $7 for 2 belts, $4.35 shipping, and we are back to working just fine.

Comment: How disappointing! What a way to kill a young persons dreams. My 11 year old son loves sewing and designing so much, he chose a serger over a Playstation. He designs and makes all of his own clothes. His serger broke in our move, we looked up Rays, read the reviews and took it in. The reviews couldnt be less accurate.The owner was less than friendly. In fact, if I could describe someone as passionately disinterested, I would. I described the problem we were having to his glazed eyes. He filled out the ticket. Called when he said it would be ready. We picked the machine up. (Not important, but, we were offered a discount if we paid cash, so we did.)My son was so excited to get back to work! (He had grown and needed new clothes.) A half yard into his project, the same issue we were having before happened again. The machine, according to my husband, was cleaned not repaired. The problem remains unfixed.We prefer to fix things rather than throw them out. But, Ive lost the receipt for a cash transaction. At 1/3 of the cost for a new machine and after spending $100 to clean a machine, were likely to just get a new one.Lessons learned: 1. Always leave a store when the owner displays aggressive disinterest. 2. Dont pay cash. 3. Keep your receipts when you do.
