RBD is highly recommended! Ive been recycling there for years. The owner has whipped the center into shape and has offered new recycling services as often as he can. Im hoping he opens more centers like this one.If youre looking for a place to recycle, go to Meridian Township and see Trevor.
I do not recommend this service. They are a for profit place and gouge on green waste compostables. I saw the service online and it was not clear what they charged. Seems money items like deposit bottles are free but green stuff is a crazy $15/yard^3 with no discretion on weight. This was NOT made clear on the Meridian township posting they had. I did not realize the method and carried one loosely stacked plywood sheet trailer of bush clippings (maybe 30-50 lbs max) and got billed $30. Crazy for something that rots right away. I complained. The owner was polite enough. But he is trucking the stuff to a company and then paying them for grinding/composting. It is NOT green to truck, load, unload, load, truck again, .... Crazy. This place will happily take money making donations and bill to the max on stuff like this. I recommend taking things of value to MSU recycle center. They will put the money made to better use and probably have a more rational and efficient setup. They deserve the support. This place does not.Footnote: I wrote the honest review above. The owner Trevor Hoover emailed me a few hours later to complain and insulted me and then bragged about his positive reviews. I found that odd since there were no other reviews at the time I wrote mine. Seems in few hours after my review the positive ones appeared including one *explicitly* by Trevor Hoover layered on later. Hmm. I regret giving this business my credit card for the charge. Now he presumably has my address and personal info linked to that bill. This coupled with the obvious lack of ethics is troubling. Patronize this place at your own risk!!
Recycling made simple!! I am new to recycling and have always used the excuse its too much work to have to sort stuff that in my oppinion was just trash. Recently I was challenged to start recycling stuff used in my home. So Today I took all my collection of recyclable items to Reclaimed By Design and I was there less that five minutes and was able to get rid of everything I had collected the past month in one easy stop!!. Challenge Excepted!!
This place is great. My family uses them for recycling services. I usually pay to drop unwanted scrap materials here. Fair prices. I think there was a change in ownership a few years back, seems like it was for the better!Friendly service too.
Better than Granger for recycling because its free and they take almost everything!!!
Having this place handy keeps alot of my cast off stuff out of the landfill! Super nice manager and a newly graded drive. I appreciate very much that the center has been open the last many weeks.
Reclaimed by design is an excellent place to bring all of your recycling needs. All of the recycling bins are easy to access and well marked. Thank you for your recycling efforts. My highest recommendation.
Please fix your access road. It a series of deep potholes. Right now Im driving to MSU for recycling, rather than use your services. The road is almost unpassable and a barrier to your services
I have done business with reclaimed by design for years. They provide a great service and they are always very friendly.
This is really convenient. Theres plenty of space to move around when its busy. They were able to fix the drive way so thats nice now! The staff is awesome as well.
Great place. Has options to recycle most of your recyclables conveniently and free. Electronics take a small charge, but it is work it!
Makes up prices on the spot. Had to pay $65 for one yard of non-compactible trash. He advertises $30 per yard.

2022-02-17Trevor at Reclaimed By Design is awesome! Not only is he great to work for as we take care of the lawn in summer and plowing in winter but the services he offers such as recycling and very reasonably priced junk disposal are great as well. No more having to make the trek out to Williamston or Lansing, I’d recommend Reclaimed to anyone :)

2021-03-14Wonderful Experience. I have been using them for my spring clean up for years. My most recent experience is compelling me to leave this review.I was preparing a spring cleaning trip when my elderly neighbor asked me to help him with several bags of trash as I was leaving. This ended up putting way behind on my schedule and after my 25 minute drive, I ended up getting there at closing time. They let me still come in and even helped me unload. They went way above and beyond.

2021-01-29Im just happy we have a place to recycle in the township,and that they update the cardboard bin capacity - I was bummed one time to find them closed between Xmas and new years but they did post their hours up front and on website. I had them pick up a mattress and it was a seamless process. Would love if we could also start recycling cartons too.

2020-11-05We had to dispose of shingles from our roof. The price was fair and mike even stayed a little past closing time so we could finish unloading our trailer. Mike took the time out of his busy schedule to help us finish emptying the trailer which was a HUGE help. We were so grateful to find such a great place with friendly/helpful staff. Thank you!!!

2020-09-26💯 Reclaimed By Design is by far the best recycling, yard waste, and solid waste handling facility in the Tri-County area, the Lansing Capitol region, and maybe even the entire state! They have rock-bottom prices and provide an overall exceptional experience each and every time I go there!! I’d give them 100 STARS if I could!!! 💯

2020-12-31Makes up business hours as they go. They closed nearly all of New Years week even though their website claims they’re open. Imagine having a full car, truck or van and waiting a full half hour after they were supposed to be open and finding a scribbled sign with the altered hours. There were a lot of angry people. The guy that runs this place won’t even operate normal hours, THEY DON’T OPEN UNTIL 2 P.M. ON MONDAYS AND FRIDAYS!!! So you work all weekend and arrive Monday morning to discover they’re not open until mid-afternoon. This guy likes to sleep in. Make sure you complain to Meridian TWP about this.

2018-01-06I have been using the transfer station since I moved to the area in 1994 . Yes the access is in poor condition sometimes, drive slowly, it only takes a couple of minutes longer. When RBD took over the operation from Meridian Township the service improved and expanded greatly. You can recycle more here than any other site I am aware of. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful. The trash/yard waste costs are much less when you factor in time and cost of driving to another site.

2016-03-12They recycle plastics 1-5, paper, cardboard, cans, brown and clear glass (not blue or green) and Styrofoam. You can also leave yard waste and throw away trash for a fee. It is always staffed and well cared for, and I appreciate that there is somewhere nearby for me to recycle. Every time I have talked with the staff they have been friendly and accommodating. It is off of a dirt road, so your car may get a bit dirty! But all around a good experience.

2017-03-09Its the prefect location! Great hours. The staff is very friendly. Its nice to know that I can take my trash and recycling to the same place for such a small fee. I am there 2 to 3 times a week. The owner is kind and its clear that he cares about his clientele and the proper way of disposing items. Im excited for when he gets cooking oil waste this spring! Highly recommend.
