Red Olive Restaurant - Livonia in other cities:
Food poisoning!Carry out for a family of 5. Wheat toast was hard as a rock, inedible. White toast had some kind of oil on it that wasnt butter. Scrambled eggs were not real eggs and were gross. Hash browns were burnt to a crisp, again inedible. Some of the food was good however gave me food poisoning! Puked my guts out about 2 hours after eating!
While waiting 20 mins for our check. The big girl working the cashier/take out tonight (2/14) says to her co workers in the kitchen the people at table 13 have a staring problem we could have walked out without paying our bill. So rude! She talks too loud and loud enough to hear her talk bad about customers.
Went to this location as a delivery driver and I was refused use of the restroom. This is a terrible policy. As someone providing a service to both the restaurant and their customers it doesn’t make sense to be treated with disrespect. I won’t be returning to this location.
Great food, great service, great prices. Red Olive has a large menu and a lot of GreekConey style items. The Livonia Red olive has been and wine but not sure about all Red Olive Restaurants. I am a big fan of their Greek Salads and they are huge. Wife loves the wraps of all sorts, especially the Gyro Wrap.
I hosted a party this weekend and I got stuffed grapeleaves, pastitsio and gyros well the stuffed Grapeleaves were just like Yia Yias so was the pastitsio but I have to say it was the GYROS actually the meat that stole the show everyone who ate one said it was BEST GYRO MEAT EVER!!!!The owner Jack was wonderful and went out of his way to make sure everything was PERFECT by the way I live over a hour from this restaurant and I would drive there again just for the GYROS!!!!
My husband and i have been coming to this restaurant since it was here.We come religiously every sunday for our breakfast here. My husband ordered (2) eggs over easy and i ordered a red olive omelette with hasbrowns and toast. We had to send it back as it was very cold, the waitress said they remade it, which they did not as i had bit cut with my forkit was not remade , what they did warmed it up in the microwave, rhe bacon was hard as a rock.We will not be coming here soon...they have lost a good patron, that also tipped wellSame thing a week a ago i ordered (2) bistro salad with no avocados, i paid good money for those salads to have it have prepared without the avocados.I am very angry with this!!!
Ordered food through the Door Dash App; Door Dash driver was rude and unhelpful. I received my food but were missing two items a Gyro Supreme and small Greek salad. Called restaurant, the waitress on the phone was of no help. I had to drive to the restaurant myself, which was empty, they were confused about my order Even though I showed my receipt. Not helpful at all, I believe the manager walked right past me, without acknowledging me at all. Eventually after standing there for five minutes explaining she decided to make my two missing items. Highly disappointed in their customer service. Will never be a returning customer nor will I refer anyone here.
I called to order 2 steak salads I saw on the website. The woman who took my order indicated the website do not have it but would make me one if that is what I wanted. The server kept asking what I wanted on the salad and I repeatedly asked for what was advertised on their website. I requested the steak be cooked med well. However upon getting home I had a well done dry steak with one slice of tomato cut in half and 2 cucumbers one with feta cheese and one without. When I called back she said she would put my name in a book for a credit. Since I was picking food up for me and my elderly mother when she saw the dry steak and lack luster salad she called to complain. They said they would replace the steak with medium well and we could pick up more salad fixing. OF COURSE, when I returned to the restaurant they did not accommodate with edible steak and the gentleman at the front was upset I checked the bag. Upon getting home and trying to eat, the salad dressing was watery, steak was tough, olives and pepperchni were old and had a sour taste. So that was a wasted $31. I will never be back nor will I ever refer a friend. The absolute worse experience with food and customer service.
Friendly staff, quality food, and fast service! Im comfortable coming here on a lunch break because I can get a good meal quickly at a fair price. Plus the staff is friendly and helpful. They especially were fun when I brought my baby! They were playing peakaboo style games with him. I never expect them to do it again, but it was very fun for all of us when they did.
The food always tastes great and comes out hot! The menu is easy to read and categorized well. We were waited on by Ginny who was extremely accommodating, especially to our 3 year old. She interacted with him often, and even remembered his name. When family is treated well, we always come back. The only complaint I have is that the floors could have been swept but they did seem a little short staffed at the time.
Weve eaten at a few of these Red Olives and this location was by far the worst. Server was very nice and friendly so 5 stars for her. Food was very salty and other than salt didnt have much flavor. Credit card machine not working when we went to check out. Owner (?)/manager (?) was trying to figure it out and perhaps stressed but to have people waiting to check-out and standing there for 10 minutes with no back-up plan (especially since the one server said this happens all of the time) is not a good business plan. I did get snarky with the guy and one point - problem is he got snarky back.
I get carry out from here sometimes and the staff is very friendly. The food is good and not expensive. They have a large menu so theres something for everyone. Petes chopped salad with chicken is my favorite. Their omelettes are AWESOME too! Ive dined in a couple of times and the service is great.
We have been going to this restaurant for years, and they have the best food!!! Their menu is extensive, with plenty of healthy choices!!! They also have lots of delicious salads, probably a couple of pages of salads! I usually get the chicken fruit salad, and they have the absolute best raspberry vinaigrette!!! No other place has anything like it, its so delicious! The service here has also been excellent, very prompt, efficient & very friendly! I highly recommend this place, along with all their other locations!
This is one of my familys go to breakfast places! The wait staff is extremely good to our kids, placing their orders as soon as we get seated. The food is great and reasonably priced. (The kids breakfast menu is only $3!) The atmosphere is relaxed, too, with nice music and a clean environment.
Food is good but the service is OK. Problem starts with the manager and works its way to the waitresses......During breakfast you would think that someone would be walking around with coffee. The manager was just standing at the front of the restaurant working on something. When it wasnt busy waitress were busy socializing. Most places I have gone you always have someone walking around with coffee offering it to people.... The atmosphere here is really good & like I said the food is good but waitresss have alot to learn. You want a good tip you have to work for it & that means keep drinks filled. People dont mind the prices if you get the service.......I even witnessed a waitress standing talking to her table who had a toddler in a baby seat and she had the coffee pot in reach of that child and the child reached for it. I am glad he didnt get burned but she definitely was not using her head at all..... It is common sense people...... You need to work on your service skills people.....
Our waitress was nice and attentive, the rest of the staff never spoke, werent smiling. Not impressed with my dinner either, I had the half roasted chicken with mashed potatoes with chicken gravy, stuffing (boxed probably definitely not homemade), steamed green beans and a salad. The chicken was dry even with the gravy and I couldnt eat the green beans. Id would go again just to see if this was a one time thing or if its the norm.
This is a great little restaurant! The food selection has burgers, gyros, and delicious breakfast omletes and pancakes. I will vouch for the deliciousness of their Belgium waffle!!! My husband loved their ham and cheese omlete!Their staff is very friendly and helpful.
Good basic food. I had the lamb shank which was the most expensive item on their menu at $14.95. It was good but not great. Not in the same category as Greek restaurants in downtown Detroit. Was impressed with the fact that the green beans were really green beans not canned green beans. Baked potato was unusually Bland maybe it was a Michigan white potato instead of an Idaho russet? My friend ordered the meatloaf dinner at $8.95 and enjoyed it. All gold to me the meatloaf slices looked dried out and reheated. The soup where we had was their corned beef barley soup. Which seem to be their vegetable soup with barley added and the few slices of corned beef. It basically tasted like a Tomato vegetable soup with barley
Sadly this location has really gone down hill. The place is dirty from the moment you walk in the front door. I had to ask our waitress to (re) wipe our table because it was full of crumbs. The menus are greasy and there are fingerprints and grime on all of the table top caddies. The floor and chairs are really worn and dirty and there were cobwebs hanging from the light fixtures above. My knife had something crusted on it but was wrapped in a napkin apparently without someone noticing it was dirty. The worst was the womens bathroom! It was filthy dirty walls, floors even the door handles! Not going to return to this location.
The decor and atmosphere is really good. the food - below average. first, the breakfast menu is way too small. second, the waitress never mentioned the specials, which were nowhere on the menu. third, if i wanted GROUND HASH BROWNS, i would have ordered them. their hash taste boiled even though i asked for crispy! they are also ground, not shredded. we are not going there again.
Why get fast food breakfast when you can call in your order to a place like this and get 3x time the food that is fresh and taste amazing for the same price. I really like their Greek salad as well. The service is just average when you go in and sit down. Still far better then anything around!
Normally its pretty good, but this evening the service was purely neglectful and the food was sub-par. Im attaching a pic of one of our plates, the sampler platter. The grape leaves were just mushy little blobs. Told the manager of staff. He said thank you, but offered no help. Just disappointed.
We used to go here frequently since we love the food, but after our last experience we will go elsewhere. Our issue is with the management. I had a piece of plastic in my greek salad (like a clear wrapper to plastic wear) AND a thin scraggly piece of metal (likely from the scraper they use to clean the grills) on my chicken kabob. We alerted the waitress immediately and gave her the metal. She was horrified and went back to tell the manager. I expected the manager to come to our table and apologize, offer me something else, assure us we wouldnt be charged for it. He did absolutely nothing. Never came to our table and even charged us for the food! When we went up to pay, we told him what happened, again, and he sort of shrugged his shoulders and went on with our payment. Extremely disappointed.
We come here all the time for breakfast, gyro and eggs platter is my favorite. My husband gets the Mexican omelette. Their chili is amazing. Scoop of tuna appetizer is a must. Also their loose coney burger is amazing. Pretty much guaranteed to like anything you order. Had the Greek chicken pasta last night for the first time, also yum!
This place is a 5 Star if you get Ginny as your server. She is great. The food is good. I was disappointed to bring my family here today and request Ginny only to be told no. I personally dont care about what rotation you have for your servers, we come here because we like a specific server, and when a guest makes that request you should be ashamed to tell them no because her section is full, it is not her section, or it is not her rotation.
An amazing breakfast. Even better staff. I was having a horrible day after my grandfather got sick and was in the hospital. One of the waitresses offered to make him up a special to go box with samples of his favorite foods and even had the cooks cut the food into bite sized pieces. They didnt even charge us for the food they made him. Then a few days latter when he was released from the hospital the staff recognised us when we came for lunch and all came over to say hi and make sure he was recovering well. I felt so much love from the staff.
Their food is great if you actually receive what you ordered. On two separate occasions, part of my carry out order was missing and once I received someone elses order. This is a dilemma when you have minimal lunch time and cant go back to have them correct it. The Red Olive Management doesnt seem to have much to say and most notable was the lack of apology for the inconvenience. Additionally, their prices are high... well, especially when you pay for food you dont receive. 😠
This is my favorite local restaurant, food is always great, the staff that I have experienced has always been nice. The best thing about Red Olive is that they have a very diverse menu lots of choices and I have been satisfied with everything. No one is perfect but for an inexpensive restaurant it is above average. Green beans are great.
We were a group of four, all food was cold, even chicken on Greek salad. Worst clam chowder soup ever, tasted like vinegar. My club sand made without tomatoes. Perch was “fishy”. “Greek” bread tasted like Wonder bread, no crunchy crust.Server very sweet, but forgot everything several times. Most disgusting toilet seat I’ve ever seen. TV and radio commercials going same time. Couldn’t wait to get out of there.Won’t return.
For a Coney island Red Olive Livonia is above the bar. The food is always good and the price, a bit higher than a normal coney, is worth it.Must try: tuna app. Seriously, trust me. Get the garlic green beans!!! Substitute the green beans anywhere you can as a side, so so so goodThough the service is always good, Sarah is the best around, hands down!
Been going here regularly a couple years now and never had a complaint, menu is big prices are reasonable....but for some reason the past 2 times Ive gotten lunch then breakfast there I got sick a few hours later. Throw up all the food I ate like none of it even digested. Not sure whats going on but I miss how it used to be :(
This is one of my favorite restaurants in town, my daughter and I go there all the time the food is great the service is awesome and the atmosphere is pleasant I recommend this place to anyone anytime. Plus the prices are reasonable. Katie is the best waitress in town she is awesom.
This was the most prejudice place I had ever stepped foot in and the crazy part about it is, I wasnt even ordering I was just picking up a delivery. The old wrinkled up crapwhole of a person at the front counter threw my card and receipt at me for no reason and this was after the service was horrible everyone walked away from the counter when I walked in. You kind of people are sick. If I wasnt on the job and trying to maintain my professionalism I probably wouldve cursed you out and threw some things right back at you but Im not as stupid and fragile as you are. Its pathetic you know nothing about customer service only to those who look like you. Your completely pathetic.

2022-04-13Food was decent. Customer service was horrible. Waitress was snarky and rude when asked certain questions, first one being if they had any kids menu and crayons and she looked at me as if I was stupid for even asking. Restaurant was also empty, we were one of two families in there at the time and waitress couldn’t come to check on us once, had to ask another waitress to grab her so she could refill our drinks which was towards the end of our meal. Also had an attitude when I asked if any sides came with the kids meal and she replied “no kids don’t get any sides like that” again in a very snarky tone and acted as if that was the dumbest question she’s heard all day. When cashing out with who I would assume is a manager there, I asked her if she had any plastic bags to carry our to go boxes in and she took a big sigh and said “yeah…. But I have to go to the back to get that. “ it was apparent that was too demanding of a task to ask so I just said never mind and then she of course said “oh it’s no big deal at all” but definitely made it seem like a big deal. Also, when you walk inside there is a gumball/candy machine and you can tell that it’s super old and stale and hasn’t been changed out in honestly years. Kinda gross to look at. Get takeout but save yourself the time of going in to sit down. Not worth it. Again food was decent but not worth all the up charges they have for basic things. I would drop the waitresses name but she didn’t even introduce herself.

2022-07-11Second time in a month we came for dinner. They’ve obviously changed management, as Gary the manager is gone and all new cooks, etc. Both times there have been kitchen workers asleep in the back large booths. The first time we came one was asleep in one of the booths and the other just had a jacket laying on the seat. I asked if we could have that booth and she said “no, our kitchen worker is going on break and he’ll be napping”.Yesterday three of us ordered soup-barely lukewarm. Two were lemon rice soup, cold and NO RICE in the soup! We were the only ones in there at 4:30.I’m sure the doors will be closed soon. What a shame. It used to be wonderful there.

2022-03-15Terrible my turkey, potatoes and beans were obviously microwaved going so far as to be cold in weird places. My girls veggie stir-fry came to the table a light brown mess. Service was fine but the food was a nightmare. Red Olvie is usually pretty good too. D+.

2020-02-05Food was Alright. Tried the Fettuccine Alfredo and Chicken Noodle Soup, and Sweet potato fries. The Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken wasnt that good even though the size was nice, and the price was reasonable. The Chicken Noodle Soup was great. The fries were ok. Service was Amazing and takes 5 stars . The server did a great job and took good care of us. Need to work better on Cleaning the plates and silverware. I felt more like Im in a Coney Island.

2022-01-05Ordered through Grub Hub and they were great, on time and happy!. Greek salad was good. Bread was good. Fried chicken was dried like it was in the Moab Desert for a month with no water. Beans were old and way over cooked. Side salad had brown lettuce. The other chicken dinner was cold under all the sauce. Not sure why this was so bad. Red Olive has normally been a ok go to for us. But it seems like when we order through sites like Grub Hub some restaurants are not sending out the quality of food they normally would. Maybe has something to do with their bottom line. BTW, the 2 stars were for the Greek salad and bread. The only good part of the two meals we ordered. Oh, and our bill was over $50.00 with an $8 tip.

2021-12-30They have great customer service. The one in Dearborn charges you for everything. I have a soy allergy and this Red Olive was very accommodating. The Greek chicken salad was great! I also did not have to wait long for service.

2021-02-26They have absolutely best salads and homemade chicken noodle soup just how your grandma would make it. I am from Livonia and have lived here for 10 years I love this restaurant.
