We stayed here Sunday November 7th. Chose this hotel because it was cheap and we needed a place to stay the night before my daughters surgery and are low on funds. Went to check in just to be informed that on top of the price I’d already paid for the room there was an additional $40 deposit. I verified that it would be refunded directly to my card upon checkout, because again we are low on money and had to be able to drive the 4 hours home after surgery, only I wasn’t refunded. I even called my bank to make sure it wasn’t pending and they said it was not. We almost didn’t make it home. The room itself would have been fine if there hadn’t been burn marks on the bath tub. Also the top latch on our door looked like someone had kicked the door in and was loose enough that it could have been pulled right off. The door itself didn’t want to stay closed and you had to really pull hard to get it to latch. Overall I’m giving it 2 stars because this place was at least located close to where we needed to be and the beds were comfy enough. I’ll be following up if I haven’t received my deposit refund in the next couple days.
The lady at the front desk has an attitude problem very rude get very hostile when certain people ask questions doesn’t greet your guest answers the phone and doesn’t even say give me one second and I’ll be with you. Then got rude and started calling me her instead of saying my name got disrespectful with my mother then on top of it I called headquarters and headquarters was recording my car and heard the whole thing that the front desk receptionist had said to me and put it all down in the notes from her being rude to her being disrespectful from her threatening to cancel my reservation with this hotel I’ve been trying to get a hold of the manager for the last two days I’ve been told either he works nights or he’s not here on the property at all I would love someone to get a hold of me because I have a serious issue with the receptionist I even work at a hotel so I know how receptionist jobs to there is no need for her to even be rude to come off negative to have an attitude with us even if she’s having a bad day it’s not nice to take it out on your guest and there’s several other people in the lobby that witnessed her and also told her she had an attitude problem and she steady having an attitude plus the way she answers the phone makes you not want to rent a room for here if I could I give this hotel a -6
Zero stars!!Manger lady rude because she dont like her job having to fill in for third shift obviously..out of 10+ times staying their they never charged me a deposit but tried hard to this time for some odd unexplainable reason.i get the same room assigned to me everytime they dont dust the rooms because its the same spider webs everytime I go their for months now!!the Manger lady is highly rude and will not receive my business anymore!!
Due to the fact that I had basically one set of towels and butt paper for an entire 4 Night and 5 day stay was not the greatest I had to ask one of the bypassing housekeeping that looks very understaffed as well and then on top of that getting harassed by police officer its pretty trash
Fat lady at the front desk lost her composure and gave me one heck of an attitude because I asked what was the best rate they could give me so I didnt have to do it online to get the cheaper pricing. Wow, sorry I asked since I didnt feel like making reservations for 13 rooms for the next 2 months for my team online when I knew it was the off season. You cant exactly make 45k in reservations short notice online and was going to hash it out in the morning with the manager but your employee cost you. Your loss. This was October 24th at 7 pm if any managers feel like addressing it. Check the cameras. What a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Control your employees. Ill tell you that the Extended Stay America right down the road took very good care of us.
Positive: Location right off the highway & down the street from UofM. Restaurants close by. Used to stay here regularly bc it was cheap but DECENT - definitely going downhill like most cheaper places. Guess ya gotta pay more somewhere else to feel like it¿s clea Negative: Pets allowed so the room stinks and loud barking at 4am. Yellow stain on top sheet housekeeping HAD to have seen but didn¿t care enough to change. No more breakfast, just bad coffee. We wiped everything down bc cleanliness was questionable. Gunky carpe
Disappointed. Stayed 2 nights and checked out early. Accidentally left 2 garments in the room (one a relatively expensive jacket). When I called to inquire, the desk attendant informed me that there was nothing at the front desk, and showed little effort to assist. he Took my phone number and guaranteed a call back…No call back, so I called again the 2nd day. Different front desk attendant, though guaranteed a call back….no call back. I again called on 3rd day, this time asked for a return call from the manager (Maggie)….no return call. I called again on the 4th day, asked for Manager Maggie, I was told she received my message from the previous day, though was out of the building and guaranteed me I would receive a call back….again, no call back. I made a final call on the 5 th day, and was again instructed that Maggie would call me back….no return call. After making 5 outbound calls to the property, receiving 5 “promises of follow up” and received “0” return calls, I’m disappointed. Disappointed that my garments were carelessly lost, and that no one (including hotel manager) showed interest in helping a customer. I will not again return to Red Roof Inn as I now assume theft of customer belongings (accidentally left in rooms, or in currently occupied rooms) is common place and acceptable to property hotel chain leadership.
My husband and I travel quite a bit and this red roof in particular was probably the nicest one weve been to! Its in a block with a couple other hotels/inns, kinda hard to tell the buildings apart because theyre all similar colored and they all look nice! Clean rooms, white towels, comfy bed, and they were very courteous to our service animal!
Positive: Cheap. Location. Negative: Several disgusting white ¿stains¿ on the floor and chair. Felt like I had to wipe everything down w/ my Clorox wipes. No breakfast but same price from previous stays. Under construction. I will not be this desperate for a cheap place-never staying a
You cant really beat the price or location. Yes, its an older property in desperate need of repair but its also fifty or so bucks a night. The TVs definitely suck. Reception is very poor. I will say that we absolutely did not encounter bed bugs. Trust me, we looked after reading other reviews.
Positive: Most of the staff was friendly and polite but one employee was very rude when I called on the phone. Negative: The place was overrun with bees which were nesting in the door frames and flew in the room anytime the door was opened. The bathtub was very small and the washers and dryers did not work and took my money. 1
Positive: The location Negative: Every time I left my room i was locked out because the keys wouldnt work and i have cancer so I have to be exposed to people inside without masks and having to deal with the fact it causes me anxiety and having to deal with being locked out of my room
I dont think I will be staying here anymore. I have been staying here since 2009. They must have new management. The sink had poor drainage. Two lights in my room was out. Maintenance came it was a short in one of the lights but turns out it was in both lights but I didnt say anything about the other one. I had to keep loosening it and then tighten it. Spots were on the rug. Door lock was broken a piece was missing so I was unable to use the extra lock. Now what really got me was I went out and I had to call my room so I called the front desk and I ask to connect me to my room and the man told me he couldnt do is, when I said what do you mean why not? , he said hold and then he connected me. I dont know whats going on there now, but I didnt like my stay there this time. Then when I checked in I was told they needed $40 deposit if any one smoke in the room. They wanted to charge it on my credit card but I told them I will give cash.. I was told I would get it back and I did but I had to wait for the young lady to go to the room and I guess SMELL IT.The wifi kept dropping every 2 minutes so I couldnt use it. The price was cheap now I know why. This is the red room on state st in Ann Arbor, MI
Clean, comfy rooms. Friendly staff. Pet friendly (make sure you pick up after your dogs). Its close to food, gas, main roads and the highway. Reasonable rates for everything provided! That being said, the big reason they only got 4 *s: the woman in glasses, behind the counter, tried to tell me all the first floor rooms were under construction. Having been here several times in the last 3 weeks, I knew better and I explained that very politely, which changed the tone but not the 4*s.Despite that one issue, I would, and will, continue to stay there from time to time.
Great price. Very clean. They let our dog stay with us for no extra charge. They even took extra care to clean the room daily and change the sheets so it stayed clean (our dog sheds a lot). Friendly staff. I forgot my toothbrush and they gave me a new one for free. Walking distance from a few great restaurants, and a 10 minute drive from downtown ann arbor. Overall this hotel exceeded my expectations.
The provided room smelled of cigarette smoke (we had booked a smoke free room). The front desk lady informed us that there were no better rooms available. We then tried to air it out with the AC and door open but turns out the AC was broken as well. We tried to obtain a refund but was told they could not refund our room.
When I got to my room, I noticed the bedding was dirty (hair, something icky on blankets and sheets). So I called the front desk to see if they would come change the bedding. I was told housekeeping was too busy, but she could have someone drop off clean bedding for me to change myself. Since the room was non-refundable I agreed. I will not be returning to a red roof inn again.

2022-04-15I made a reservation online on a deal and was able to pay once I checked in.The room was clean, neighbors were quiet, internet worked well.Bed wasnt the most comfortable but for the price of the room, it is what it is. I was still able to have a good nights sleep before bringing my daughter CS Mott the next morning. Would have been nice to have a few more channels, especially one that had cartoons suitable for younger kids.Overall, a great deal for the price.

2022-04-27I’ve stayed here a few times. It’s inexpensive but not “cheap.” Sure, it isn’t luxury but it’s clean, relatively comfortable, and people are friendly at the front desk. They don’t have breakfast but there’s always coffee available. Book directly via their website and sign up for an account.. they have VP+ discounts that bring the cost below what the other sites charge when you factor in the fees.

2022-05-05Great location, Very clean rooms/bathrooms, great size beds, good size rooms, well run and friendly but does need some cosmetic facelift .....nothing a little bit of paint, new carpet cant do.....compared to all the nearby hotels/motels was least expensive for the university of Michigan graduation weekend
