Residence Inn by Marriott Ann Arbor North in Ann Arbor
Elite Marriott member who spends 100+ nights a year as business and leisure traveler. The property and staff were all top notch. 5/5 recommend.I specifically want to mention GM Rich Porco, who was exceptionally accommodating and responsive both before and during our stay. Thank you Rich!We visited with group of 5 people during a busy football weekend in late November. Checkin was a breeze, and staff happily brought us ice, extra towels, etc. Clean, spacious 2 bedroom w/2 baths with pullout sleeper sofa. Solid morning breakfast from 7-10.We will see you for future games!
The front desk staff are *amazing*. So warm, welcoming, and genuine. I haven’t experienced that kind of hospitality in a long time. Pool was run very well with scheduling and cleanings. It’s absolutely beautiful too. Rooms have a great layout, really nice kitchens, and super comfortable beds. Honestly, we loved the space and well thought out furniture. Really a great hotel.
This hotel was about the friendliest one we have ever stayed at. Staff were wonderful, they accepted us traveling with our kitten. The room was well situated and comfortable. Nice outdoor areas and large inside common areas. We will always seek Residence Inn when traveling from now on
Staff was amazing, pool was great, overall common areas were clean and nice. The room however was extremely dirty and not well maintained. We had to move the couches to get a toy my daughter dropped behind them and literally found a comment form dated July 2017, dirty spoons, candy wrappers and stuff like that. The dish washer leaked water, kitchen floor so dirty that when it got wet you would leave dirty foot prints.
We stayed at the Residence Inn North in Ann Arbor as we were bringing our child back to U of M for second semester and the proximity to her apt. was excellent. Our younger kids could spread out as they were in remote school. We were very comfortable and especially like having a kitchen and family room during the pandemic since we couldnt eat in restaurants and it was too cold to dine outside. The set up was perfect! My gripe was the cleanliness. The suite did not feel clean enough-especially during a pandemic. There were some coffee stains on the kitchen counter, hair in both bathrooms and even an opened bar of soap sitting on the ledge of the tub. That was gross! I saw housekeeping not wearing masks and another guest sitting in the lobby unmasked. I reported both of these at the front desk and the staff responded right away and couldnt have been nicer! I probably should have reported the room not being clean enough, but when we checked in it was very late and we were so exhausted.
I think COVID19 changed everything but I am not fully convinced if the current limited guest service is purely due to COVID19 prevention or not. I know we have a serious labor shortages now and it might be in difficult to maintain the level of good guest service as pre-COVID.I hope the management of Marriott continues to review what they can do the best for the guest especially for the royal guests.
Hair left in the bathroom and on a clean towel. Bathroom tub wouldnt drain. Refrigerator was dirty in the inside and so was the bottom of the oven. It took our room 4 hours to heat up after turning the heat all the way up. Pool bathroom was dirty with paper towel and urine all over. Only one remote control, controlled all three TVs. On the only bright side, my kids really enjoyed the pool. Only one family at a time. Great idea staff. Need better housekeeping! 4/10
Maybe this hotel has been recently remodeled, or maybe its new? Regardless, the walls were clean, no scuffs, carpet nice, linens crisp. I am very picky and this met my expectations! The only slight disappointment is that the breakfast was cut off at 930am... maybe a little later would be more convenient, especially for visitors like us who are from out of town and jet lagged. Thanks!
I am only staying here because its the only place my renters insurance will cover. The door key pad is down and no idea when that will be back up and running so we have to go through the main doors. Secondly, the spa has been out of order for over 2 weeks. The staff is great and make it liveable.
During this COVID 19 Pandemic, I congratulate the extra efforts of each and every staff member in providing me with a hygienic and very comfortable place to stay when I needed to visit the University of Michigan Medical Center. I felt very safe and very valued. Thank you so very much Residence Inn Ann Arbor North!
I absolutely loved it. The staff were really friendly, with greetings of have a great day with a genuine smile on their face. They were easily and quickly able to get me a room, and it happened over the phone. The hotel itself was spotless. I found it quite clean, which sadly, you dont find in every hotel. The hotel is located near the highway, so that is great. The prices were outstanding, we got a 2 bedroom unit (with a a kitchen) for only $189. Overall, it was a great experience, which I very much liked.
Who knew wed be driving through a raging blizzard with white out conditions forcing us to pull off the highway a number of times till the snow let up in order to make medical appointments at UofM Cancer center the next day. Thus making our 5 hour journey into a 7 hour expedition. We were so relieved to finally make it to the hotel (after midnight) where we were greeted by a super friendly and understanding receptionist named Steve. We were so grateful that he gave us extended check out privileges so we could recuperate for the long drive back home the next day (same blizzard conditions unfortunately) and also allowed us to upgrade to a 2 room 2 bath suite so my traveling companion and I had complete privacy through out the rest of the night and each had a comfortable bed (instead of one of us on the sofa bed). High five to Marriott and their employees for making us feel so welcome and helping to take the edge off an arduous journey.
This place is really nice. The hotel pool is pretty big and has a hot tub too. The towels in the pool area were always stocked and the pool was clean. The rooms are stocked with everything youll need to cook a small dinner which will save you money not having to go out to eat. And youll love the dishwasher for ease of clean up. My room had only a stand up shower and not actual tub. However the shower was big with plenty of shelves for soaps and shampoos. Nice large coat closet. Easy access internet with no complicated password was a nice surprise. The free breakfast was fully stocked and plenty of places to sit. It did fill up but we never had a problem finding a seat. Check in and out was quick and painless. Door keys worked with no problems. Very happy with this hotel.
Wonderful and relaxing! We were here as part of our family gathering for our daughters wedding, in the midst of a terrible snow storm! The hotel made every effort to help us enjoy our stay and honor our request to put our familys rooms next to each other so that the grandchildren could run back and forth safely. Turned out perfectly! We would recommend this hotel to anyone! The breakfast buffet was wonderful and had something for everyone. I was extremely satisfied!
Cant say enough about our stay. Rented three suites and had seven adults and 6 children. The kitchen worked well for our family meals and the staff was extremely accommodating of every request. The rooms are comfortable and stylish and clean. The breakfast had everything you could possibly want. Our maid was over the top thoughtful leaving many extras and sticker for the kids. You will not regret a stay here as long as management stays this top-notch.
Love that the rooms have a bit of space. Small kitchenette always a plus. Area with couch comes in really handy when meeting people and you want a place to get together. It was clean. The service was great. Bed amazingly comfortable. Temp in room easy to control. Free breakfast spread had waffles, eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, fruit, cereal, yogurt, bagels, juice, milk and plenty of coffee. Highly recommend.
I only stayed here one night, but wished I had reason to stay longer! My stay was in the middle of a very long road trip, and of the four hotels I experienced on the trip, this one has everything I could have wanted and more. I appreciate a full kitchen and would have definitely taken more advantage of meal prep if I had been around a few nights. The decor was modern, but still super cozy. The hotel and property were very well maintained and the staff was very warm and friendly and encouraged participating in the mixer. I cant wait to come back to Ann Arbor and stay at this wonderful property again!
We stayed this past weekend here and were very impressed with the updated and modern room kitchens and baths. The bright sink and mirrors were a huge improvement in the bath. The glass shower doors were very upscale. I felt the lobby and eating areas were nicely designed and accommodated a variety of guests. The morning breakfast is always welcome and it was kept fully stocked later in Sunday morning.
We came just for overnight stay. I wish it would have been longer. Parking good, friendly staff, spacious room, full sized fridge, dishwasher, real plates/glasses! Great selection of breakfast items. My B/F enjoys cigars, so we went out to the firepit at night. Enjoyed chatting with fellow travelers, and also enjoyed the bar. Definitely stay again!
Overall it’s a great place to stay. We love the suite setting. One person can do things in the living area while another can rest in the bedroom without interruption. The location is very easy to access highway. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The only thing we hope the hotel can improve is the breakfast. Maybe we stayed for too many days (5nights) this time, we got very tired of the breakfast choices. They did change some of the main dishes every morning but the choices weren’t very tasty. Wish the fruit was more fresh.
Hotel is well maintained although slightly dated. Rooms are very comfortable and quiet, at least on the third floor. Breakfast is below standard when compared to other Residence Inns though, as the hot selection and pastries are very mediocre. Pool is off decent size and clean. My one bedroom suite is advertised as having a king size bed, but in reality it is a queen size.
Great location. Close to highway. Big suites. Large fully-equipped kitchen. Excellent breakfast. Convenient free parking and fast internet. Enjoyed the indoor pool (heated and comfortable even during this record breaking cold) and hot tub. The breakfast area is especially nice. My 2 years old granddaughter had a great time! STAFF WERE extremely friendly and helpful. We needed a projector for a lecture last-minute and staff was quick to help and loan us one. Highly recommend this hotel for family with young children.
This is the nicest and most convenient Residence Inn I have stayed at in quite a while. Wonderful indoor pool. Within (long) walking distance of some good restaurants. Convenient access to campus. Hotel is a few hundred feet from one of the Universitys satellite parking lots, which provides very frequent bus service to the EECS building and lab (and all buildings in the North Campus complex). That was much better than taking a 2 mile Lyft ride or a very long winter walk.
The manager and her staff were very responsive. They cleaned the room and changed the sheets immediately upon our call to the front desk. The manager offered to move us to a different room and offered a credit which we appreciated but declined. However, upon our return home we received an updated statement with a credit anyway. This was a very nice hotel with very nice amenities. The manager and her staff were wonderful!
I stay here every time I visit Ann Arbor for work. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice and clean. There is a breakfast in the morning and an appatizers at night. The hotel also has a bar which is nice after a long day at work. I would recommend this hotel for business or vactaion.
I just purchased a condominium in Ann Arbor and I wanted to stay the weekend in Ann Arbor so I could go back and forth from my new place. The Residence Inn Ann Arbor is close and is a fantastic hotel! Immaculately clean, all the amenities you need, extremely comfy king bed, friendly staff, altogether impressive suite, excellent food choices at the breakfast bar (the eggs actually tasted like eggs), and the senior discount is well worth it. I just wish I would have remembered my swim suit! I really appreciated the fact that I could go to the bar after dinner and relax with a glass of wine. If I should ever have more houses guests than I can accommodate at one time in my new condo, I will definitely reserve extra rooms at the Residence Inn.
All staff was so accommodating to myself and my children while my husband had emergency surgery at U of M. Always showed care and compassion. Remembered my grandchildren (5). The room was very clean and nicely decorated. Bed was amazing after 12 or more hour days at the hospital. They made being away from home comfortable during a difficult time since we were from out of town.
Filthiest room Ive ever stayed in, even though theyre deep cleaning for COVID, grime in the corners on the bathroom floor and hair everywhere. There was absolutely no enforcement of masking regulations or social distancing, except cancelling food service, which is a money loser for them any way. I wouldnt recommend this one.
Ann arbor doesnt really have a lot of hotels that are inside the city.I find this hard to get 2 and nothing around here going on .For business,Sure,For a family wanting to just chill in a poolSure. For a 30 something trying to pretend I have things going on exciting and have friends in from a cityMeh.
One of the best places for long term stay. I took my family here and stayed for almost a year.Customer service has been top notch in all areas with very courteous staff and management.Coming to the location, one of the best as it’s just around 3 miles away from Ann Arbor downtown and University of Michigan where all the games n fun happens! Many grocery stores, pharmacy, restaurants in walking distance.Great guest rooms, great internet speed, well maintained Gymnasium, good sized indoor pool, meeting rooms.Breakfast is good, Social evenings great and the newly opened bar seems very attractive. What more can someone on long stay expect...Thanks to the management and all the staff for making us feel @ home and we will definitely miss this place.
We needed a place for family to gather and stay while one of our members had brain surgery at UM Med Center. We knew the north Ann Arbor location would be best and allow for ease of trips back and forth. I was looking for a 2 bedroom suite with kitchen and Residence Inn not only had those as an option but they looked spacious and lovely. We were beyond delighted to be offered a UM hospital rate which helped immensely with the stress at such a difficult time of planning. The suite worked out perfectly for me and my daughter to stay with my grandsons (a Toddler and a newborn) so that she could be at the hospital while their dad had surgery as well as come and go easily. Other family members also got rooms. My 3yr old grandson enjoyed watching childrens TV programs when we were in the room and was thrilled with the Make your own Smores night. The breakfast buffet was more than adequate and the staff very helpful (i.e. getting us a smaller plastic spoon for my grandsons yogurt, etc). One day the weather was nice enough to go for a walk with the baby in the stroller and the 3 yr old loved seeing ducks on the adjacent pond and other nature and wildlife. The sidewalks around and between nearby buildings made the walk with a stroller and toddler very easy. Loved the lobby area. And I cant say enough good things about the front desk staff - always friendly and helpful! My only regret was that we did not have a chanc to enjoy the pool area which looked lovely. Not only was our stay good but surgery was successful and my son-in-law was out in record time and is doing well. Thanks for being our home-away-from-home during a tough time!
Recent stay here over the past weekend for my kids lacrosse tournament. Although the outside of the facility was neat enough, the inside was nicely modern and clean, esp the rooms. Looked quite new as if it was recently refurbished. Nice bathrooms with unique curved hanging shower door. Mini kitchen nice. Comfy beds. Plenty of parking. Easy 7 min access to lacrosse fields. Nice clean breakfast area with attentive staff. Would easily stay here again.
The hotel exceeded our expectations. Clean and spacious and friendly staff. The room was perfect for a family of four - we spread out and had separate areas to relax in and for the children to nap while we were able to watch TV or eat a snack. The breakfast in the morning was plentiful and more than we expected (and tasted good too).
I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Everything was perfect. It was comfortable, it had all the amenities I needed and most of all I really appreciated that there was sufficient lighting. SO MANY PLACES I STAY have inadequate lighting. It makes a big difference when you are dressing for work. BED was fabulous! I also liked the TV set up which allowed me to watch regular TV or stream from the internet.
Decent Hotel - but the flooring is way too thin. I could hear every movement of the guest above me. This includes walking, rolling suitcase, opening/closing doors, watering running, and conversations. If you do stay here, request the top floor. Other than that, the hotel was pretty great.
This hotel was very clean, comfortable, and the staff was outstanding. After over a 12 hour drive it was a great place to put our feet up for the night. Did not go to downtown Ann Arbor but enjoyed a meal at a restaurant that was within walking distant. The location is right off of the interstate and was very easy to find. The breakfast buffet was very nice and the staff was also very helpful. I would highly recommend staying here.
Front desk staff and the manager Richard were extremely friendly and helpful. They would address your issue promptly. But the house keeping services were extremely poor. Richard was able to make it up for me and compliment my last day for all the inconvenience during my 5 night stay. Thank you Richard. And also a big thank to Kamila for helping me to transition from two room suite to one room suite during the last 2 days stay.
Although we generally find Residence Inns a good value for the money, we would not recommend this location. Positives: exceptionally friendly and attentive staff, convenient location, adequate gym for a short stay. Negatives: Paper thin walls, you can hear your neighbors, layout of one bedroom is extremely cramped and claustrophobic, and a had very uncomfortable, older mattress. Did get moved to a studio (same square footage, but without the walls, so the area was not cramped). The mattress was newer, the neighbors were quiet so thin walls didnt matter as much.
We stayed 4 days with my sons baseball team. It was by far one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in. Rooms had everything we needed. Living room area was a little smaller than other suites we have stayed in, but very clean! Front desk staff were nothing but wonderful especially Allie! She brought us out items to make smores while were sitting by the fire. She also offered us a meeting room so we could have a team dinner one night! Whenever we seen her she always had a smile on her face! Breakfast was as expected, nothing fancy or out of the ordinary. We will definitely stay again.
Cleanliness is very well maintained everywhere in the hotel. We thought the layout was great for families with kids. After a busy work day there are sufficient facilities to relax. You get what you pay for. The location of the hotel was perfect for us. The kids seemed to be having a great time.
Residence Inn at Ann Arbor was the perfect location for my business meeting. The studio suite is the best choice if you like to cook your own meals the kitchen was fully shocked with appliances the refrigerator was huge and clean. The bathroom was a decent size. Overall my stay was great!!!
I stayed for a few weeks for work, had no complaints. For those that like exercise or a swim: the pool is large in comparison to other hotel pools, as is the gym. The rooms are well-kept and the staff is also friendly and helpful. A great place to stay for any traveler, whether your stay is for business or leisure.
Our stay at the Residence Inn Ann Arbor North was 2nd to none. The staff are very accommodating and friendly. The facilities are clean and spacious and the green space is beautiful. We stayed for a baseball tournament and on down time, our teenagers really enjoyed playing on the basketball court. Great experience and were sure to visit again.
We have been here for 4 days and had a lovely experience, until yesterday. We encountered a common female accident with the sheets. Once we returned to the hotel after our day the bed had been made and the sheets hadnt been changed. We then decided to call and request clean ones when a staff brought them to the door and hand them to us. They had two opportunities to help us as a guest for a simple accident and made it more of a hassle then anything. Very disappointed.
Having said that, this place is not bad and they try very hard. The rooms are HUGE, and the room kitchens are remarkably complete. Had a comfortable desk and chair, and good stable internet. I have been given Marriott rooms this large for 4X the cost with no desk believe it or not.Bring your own ice though. The rooms may not have it, and there are no ice machines in the hotel. Breakfast is simple but decent. It will get you through the day. Coffee is excellent, and always takeaway cups and lids.
This was my first time in Ann Arbor and boy did the Residence Inn put the cherry on top. The staff was so friendly, helpful and welcoming. I truly felt at ease the entire time. The internet was free and super fast. The complimentary breakfast was awesome. The computer stations with printer were easy to use and also free. Seriously a lovely place to stay if you are ever in Ann Arbor.
Our oldest daughter had major surgery at the cardiovascular center. My husband myself and our 2 younger daughters needed a place to stay that was large enough yet reasonable. We stayed in the suite that had a King bedroom and full kitchen with a living room that had a pull out bed. The staff was friendly and caring about our daughter. Helpful when we needed anything. I have to say that I felt frustrated for housekeeping because of some of the other guests behaviour and sloppiness. They cant even be bothered to pick up a towel and throw it in the dirty towel bin. Even my 7 year old cleans up after herself people.come on now.
Great Room...not enough staff...Room was great. Stayed in the King Suite. Felt like I was apartment sitting. full stove, fridge, pots pans, cups, plates etc. Only issue was checking in and out. No valet or bell person to assist with your bags. Maybe im used to the hotels in Vegas but you think this should be an option. Hotel overall is great. Just have a few more people working especially on a Michigan football weekend
This place was clean; the staff was friendly and courteous, and the room was very comfortable. The Residence Inn is not easy to find, as it is tucked away behind other buildings so not visible from the street. And the drive to it is very round-about. But it is worth the effort to get there. It is perfect for a group. We had 4 in our party; each had her own bedroom.
Company was paying for my stay. Hotel charged my card instead and then continued to charge my card random amounts for the next week. Took a week to get refunded. They also gave my card info to another one of their hotels who also charged me random amounts. I had to cancel card and file fraud. Various additional issues: bed with no sheets or blankets, asked for them & did not get them. Had to sleep on couch with no blanket. Tv and WiFi did not work. Front desk made me call technical support to fix it myself. Power went out in hotel for a day. No accommodations were made for any of the issues. Most of the employees were really nice. Some just didn’t seem to know what they were doing.
Fresh food with a great variety for the breakfast buffet. Plenty of space and areas for seating together, or privately. Professional staff checking on and maintaining food areas. Small conference room set up nicely with round tables, enough for 25+ people. Middle of the room had outlets in floor out of the way for media. Each table was set up nicely with water pitchers, note pads and pens. Coffee maker with supplies also set up.
You are met with smiles wherever you go. Every hotel staff was focussed on helping the customer as much as possible. The unique amenities in the room are perfect for someone like me. The rooms are going to be generally clean. Highly recommend this place if you travel to this area.
The best thing for me though, was the easy access to the U of M hospital without having to go through the college campus. We were very pleased with the room and cleanliness of the hotel. My room and every area I observed was very clean. We will definitely stay here again when we visit family.
We booked the Residence Inn for our visit with family for Christmas. Main reason of booking this hotel was for the kitchen because we planned to have a dinner with family for the holidays in our room. Unfortunately the room did not have an oven - had to microwave our beef dinner (not good). The room was clean, but the sofa bed was not. Room was also quiet. Staff very friendly.Easy to get to from highway - convenient.
A nice extended-stay hotel that offers plenty of amenities: pool, exercise center, laundry, cocktails, breakfast, and more. The staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms come in a variety of sizes and all are decently appointed. My largest complaint is the lack of nearby dining options.
I visited a friend around 3:30 PM and encountered 2 staff at the desk. The woman who spoke to me gave a typical retail welcome of how can I help you? and answered my questions. I didnt encounter any staff thereafter. Its tricky to find, but thats what makes it a peaceful stay. The rooms are gorgeous and are quite frankly perfect for any long term stays.
This is a great choice for families or business travelers to Ann Arbor.Briefly:1. The complimentary hot breakfast is delicious. We enjoyed watching kids on Christmas weekend make their own waffles.2. The suites are immaculate, with truly functional kitchens including refrigerator, drip coffee maker, kitchen sink, china, and a large counter area with pull up chairs.3. There is a great indoor pool.4. Parking is plentiful.5. Jogging is easy on streets with sidewalks. There is also a nice gym with treadmills etc.6. Staff is friendly and helpful without fail.7. Multiple close by restaurant choices. Plus, you are a five minute drive from downtown Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan.
I had been to stay between 13th to 26th at April. All time we could comfortable stay.Location is Ann Arbor north east and near by M23 ramp. So you use our car, rental car also Uber etc. service for your transportation.Hotel around has 2 marks and several food shops.Overall is good.Thanks.
Ordinary outward appearance of facade but nice modern look inside lobby that continued in the room. Very clean. Nice mini kitchen comfy bed. Nice new appearing bathroom with curved door like a glass barndoor for shower door. Neat. First curved one Ive seen. Im sure this will catch on in homes. Would easily stay again. 10 min from downtown AA
We stayed for a week for NTI. Check in was super easy. The rooms are very comfortable, spacious and clean. The common areas are as well. Breakfast is served every morning, usually eggs, sausage or bacon and potatoes. Oatmeal, waffles, cereals, yogurts, fruits, and rice. They have a selection or coffee, iced coffee, tea and juices. Three nights a week there are appetizers in the lobby. There is also a grill that can be used at any time in the courtyard. The pool and jacuzzi area are very nice, highly recommend using them! There is a grocery store in the immediate area as well as a gas station, several restaurants and a bank. There is also access to public transportation. The staff is fantastic. We especially would like to thank Shine, she is a great housekeeper and employee!!! Definitely a great asset to Marriot! Keep up the great work Shine!!!! My only complaint is that our credit card was charged 2x. It has been taken care of but when your hotel stay is $1800 and you are double charged it can lead to some very frustrating and unnecessary situations. We will be returning next year for NTI! Looking forward to it!
This hotel is in a great location, close to stores, restaurants and downtown. But its tucked away enough to be quiet and away from traffic noise. The staff is amazingly pleasant. Great selection at breakfast, something for everyone. A meal is offered in the evenings. Enjoyed my week here very much.
We always try to stay at a Marriott property whenever we travel and this hotel is the epitome of why. Modern , clean , every convenience and amenity you would want when you are away from home. A good value for all that was provided and a super friendly staff as well. A near perfect experience for our family! Thank you Marriott Ann Arbor staff , we will be back.
The best hotel Ive been in yet, very roomy, feels like home Ill always come up residence inn. The windows open a bit so I could get fresh air into my room. The breakfast was full and well-prepared. In the extended stay price range this property has all the amenities and a great staff.
I had a week long training in Ann Arbor. I have stayed at this hotel before and thought that I would get the same level of service. I was wrong. The room was small (barely enough room to open the bedroom door). The room faced the courtyard so I had the pleasure of the Residence Inn light shining into my room all night. On my last day there, I found that house keeping had thrown my pajamas on the floor. I had to keep adjusting the temperature in my room because housekeeping kept changing it. Overall, there were just a lot of little things that kept this from being a pleasant stay. I doubt that I will stay here again. Honestly, I never felt that they were glad that I chose to spend money at their hotel (I have been thanked for being a rewards member at every other Marriott that I have ever stayed at, not this one). There are a lot of choices in Ann Arbor - I suggest that you may want to go elsewhere.
We rate how well the mattress supports our weary backs as the highest priority in a hotel room. We were not disappointed at the Residence Inn in Ann Arbor North. Of course the AC and heating unit was quiet and the rooms immaculately clean. The free breakfast, complementary paper and friendly crew are to be expected at Marriott hotels, so we werent surprised when we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
This Residence Inn was fabulous. It was beautiful and very clean. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the breakfasts (they were really good - quality food and great choices) and social hours. Many of the others staying here that we talked to all liked it too. Its a great value and in a good, convenient location. I cant say enough good about this Residence Inn. After leaving, we even said we missed it!
I would not recommend this property for members using points for your stay. The comfort of the room was diminished by the noise level of the heating unit located within the wall of the sleeping area. The management staff have no authority to adjust the billing (number of points) and are condescending in their explanation.
We had a great time at the Residence Inn. The staff was helpful and friendly. This hotel was one of the few in the area with a two bedroom suite. Our room had a full kitchen and a living room area. We had a great selection at breakfast and it was hot. We would definitely stay there again.
We didnt have a great experience at this hotel. In order of importance, this is what we experienced that was not good: Road noise from outside was unacceptably loud; we could hear the people in the room behind our bed; the refrigerator was very loud, so we had to keep the door to the bedroom closed; the HVAC was very loud and the vent was installed so that it created a draft directly on the bed when the system was blowing air. 2 light bulbs were burnt out and I asked the housekeeper (by a note) to replace them; that failed, so I asked the front desk staff to put in a work order; nothing was done during our 6-night stay. The hot tub was nice and hot the first time we used it; several days later it was too cold to be useable. The weekend housekeeper(s) did the bare minimum of work, though the weekday housekeeper(s) seemed more thorough. The layout of the bathroom--specifically the position of a towel rack very close to the toilet--made using the toilet awkward whether standing or sitting. I would not recommend this hotel for a restful, relaxing stay.
Traveled with a Marriott Platinum Member: the service is incredible. Got a free upgrade and free high speed wifi. It is located rather close to the Michigan campus in Ann Arbor (about 10 minutes by car). The hotel includes has a neat pool and the staff is incredibly friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
The hotel is in a suburban location near restaurants and markets. The rooms are all-suites and are clean and decorated in contemporary colors and materials--they are beautiful and the kitchen is well appointed with stainless steel appliances. The fitness room has treadmills, ellipticals, and a recumbent bike, in addition to free weights--it is open 24/7. The complimentary breakfast includes waffles/eggs/potatoes/meat in addition to the usual toast, fruit, and yogurt. The lobby has computers and a fireplace and is equally well-decorated. There is even outdoor seating and an outdoor sports court. Truly a home away from home that is a pleasure to come back to after a day in Ann Arbor! LOVED IT!
Stayed for two nights for a business trip. The first room I got was a tad smokey (its a non-smoking establishment, but someone clearly didnt follow the rules), so they upgraded me to a 1-bedroom suite for free. Brilliant accommodations, exquisitely clean, great staff, and breakfast in the morning was wonderfully diverse. Ill unquestionably be staying here on my next visit to Ann Arbor.
Very dissatisfied with customer service as my reservation was changed from a one bedroom to a studio & nothing was done by the front desk or manager to apologize yet alone compensate me.....instead they tried to cover it up. I have stayed at this property before without any problems & hope this is a one off but without any follow up from them or Marriott, its hard for me to say whether there is an inherent problem or just bad judgement by a single person/manager. I know I wont stay there again without some recognition of what they did & remedy for their bad judgement.
Hotel was clean and service was friendly. Getting to the hotel from the main road was not as easy as youd hoped. Random fire alarm went off in my room at 4am, lasting only about 10 seconds, but it was very jarring. Breakfast was meh. Overall nice place, clean and good service. Fire alarm thing Im sure was a fluke.
I stayed at this Residence Inn for an extended period of time to care for a family member who was in Ann Arbor for medical treatment. Previously we had been staying at a nearby hotel chain in a 2-bed room, and after a few days it began to feel cramped and, honestly, a bit depressing. The Residence Inn was a breath of fresh air. You can really settle in and the rooms dont feel cramped - theyre very well-designed and homey. This was particularly important for me because it gave me a place to escape and recharge from all of the hospital visits, doctors appointments, and overall stress that comes with coordinating long-term medical care.In addition, there is a lot of space in the lobby to sit, a nice outdoor patio with a fireplace and grill that guests may use (with direct access to the pool/hot tub), and the hotel has a lot of outdoor space for walking around. I cant recommend the hotel enough, particularly if you will be staying for more than a couple of nights, because it really does feel like an apartment and is very comfortable to spend a lot of time in.
Everything was great but the cleaning service wasnt what i expected, they didnt clean the room entirely. I was expecting every day to come back to a clean room like if it was a new guest in the room but they only changed the towels and made the bed. They didnt washed the dishes and they didnt cleaned the counter that got dirty every time I cooked
So far so good. Wet floor signs are always out. Even when floors arent wet. Our son slipped and fell when the floors were actually wet. From a mop job. Hotel said that they always leave the sign in the elevator due to the pool. Its funny to me since I have stayed at hundreds of hotels with pools and they dont always have the signs out. Kind of laziness on staff. Not happy about this at all.
I visit Ann arbor 1-2 times per year. Although not directly in the downtown area, this hotel offers a great option if staying on the periphery is okay. We stayed there during the move in to Michigan. It is new and extremely clean. Easy option for north campus and great if you need 2 bedrooms. Would stay again.
Got a room with a queen bed, a kitchenette, and a lounge area with another pull out bed in the couch. The room was really clean, and the kitchenette and bathroom area are both very big. The pull out bed wasnt very comfortable, but also bigger than expected. Overall very good.
Super friendly and helpful front staff and housekeeping, clean and well-equipped rooms, great location near many grocery stores and eateries, and close to the highway!Would *only* request more variety with hot egg choice in the morning - it was scrambled every day. Could do omelets or some other preparation to switch it up? But otherwise, their breakfast buffet was really extensive with many healthy options!
The Residence Inn of Ann Arbor North is a wonderful hotel. The grounds are well maintained, and the furnishings are very modern. The bed is very comfortable, and the rooms more than just clean. The fire pit is very relaxing in the evening, and the morning breakfast is more than adequate. The nearby grocery store and restaurants are very convenient. The public transportation lot is across the street on Green Rd.
The front desk staff primarily Elie, Darrell, and Kelly are stellar; I have zero complaints. Due to work I tend to stay in an area for an extended period of time, sometimes for months on end and I never have a issue with booking a room or a complaint while Im here. The entire staff is courteous and take care of my needs above and beyond the norm.
This was a wonderful, clean, and friendly place for my family to live for a week while waiting to move into our new homeThe staff went out of their way to learn our preferences and accommodate us. The complimentary breakfast was good enough for our needs as far as quality and variety, and significantly defrayed our costs and was very convenient.
Residence Inn Ann Arbor North- took over an old Wyndham facility in July 2014 and renovated into typical Marriott decor; clean, decent suite layout for work/play; and near UM North Campus. Not on main road, so youll need GPS to find, but pretty easy. Friendly staff, clean rooms, average american breakfast (egss, sausage, potatoes, oatmeal, cereal, make your own pancakes) with a twist (they provide RICE with Nori Sesame seed and seaweed for those Asians in withdrawal for the basics of rice- very NICE touch).

EVEN if just looking for a local vacation...pool, gym and more on site.Daily complementary breakfast. Great hours 630-930 and weekends 7-10, so sleep ins welcome. Due to an illness we are relocating to the Ann Arbor area to be close to the U of M Medical Center. This location is within a few miles of the hospital. The front desk staff are very accommodating. The hotel was very clean. Living in a one room suite for 100 days seems a bit daunting, but a very small price to pay for health.
My twin daughters have overcome a lot since birth. Currently they are attending University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. My home away from home is the Residence Inn Ann Arbor North. The staff and Management feels like extended family. My twins turned 20 and I was able to use the kitchen to make their favorite desert banana pudding from scratch.Thank You Marriott for making the difference in my twins birthday celebration!
Residence Inn provides so many amenities that it is hard to stay at another hotel when given the option to pay a little more to have the luxury of a hot breakfast (with protein), a nice selection of beverages, and to eat on real plates. The option to take food back to the room and reheat, or cook fresh is one of the main reasons why I choose a Residence Inn. They make my business travel easy and the staff are always accommodating.
I have stayed at many Courtyard Marriotts before, but not a Residence Inn. I was very pleasantly surprised by the attractiveness of the room, cleanliness of the room, and friendliness of the staff. I plan to make this my go-to hotel for future UM visits. I look forward to my next stay here!
Staff 5 stars. Very friendly and great at having a conversation. Greeted with a hello and a smile every time we came back to hotel.Location 5 stars perfect walking distance to anything, even temps in the single digits was ok to walk everything is so close.Room 1 Star. Lightbulb burnt out in kitchen, furnace ran constantly so was either 90 or 60 in room. Two televisions 8’ apart and the living room TV you could get call kinds of internet viewing options like Netflix and Hulu. Bedroom TV only could get pandora and YouTube?? Seriously? How stupid is that.Housekeeping ZERO stars. We were gone most of the morning and came back to dirty room still, at 11:30 they finally knocked on door and we told them to come back in an hour as we were leaving again then. We got back at 5 and nothing, they never came back. It then took 3 phone calls to get some more towels at least.
Our room was not properly cleaned over the entirety of our stay. When asked why or that the room be cleaned, we were told to ask Housekeeping ourselves and when we did, the housekeeper told us to get out of our room within 30 minutes and she would clean it. really? who tells the guest to leave the room?! SHE DID NOT CLEAN OUR ROOM!!!!!!!!!!!There were other issues but the housekeeping issue was above and beyond for us
Weary from long drive from the Ohio Valley, we were anxious to rest and recharge for visits to specialty stores such as Frankenmuth and Zingermans, and to spend quality time with relatives in the greater Detroit area. This Residence Inn was exceptional in convenience and friendliness of Staff! Others in hospitality businesses should observe this place!
The location is excellent if you are visiting the U of M hospital for consultation or for your family to stay if you are having surgery. A lot of good places to eat near by. Conveniently located near Domino Farms for Pre-Surgery work, and a short drive to the hospital.
If I could give this place zero stars, I would!!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! The manager was VERY rude! We were quoted one price over the phone and they charged us DOUBLE! Then when you call customer service to tell them about this asking what they can do for you, I was told nothing because we already checked out! Well, yes, I checked out...I cant afford to pay over $400 per night to stay there! THIS WAS A SITUATION WHERE A FAMILY MEMBER WAS HAVING CANCER SURGERY THE NEXT DAY! THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT WE SHOULD HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT AND DEAL WITH ON TOP OF EVERYTHING ELSE! Absolutely ridiculous!

2022-05-31Friendly, attentive front desk. Unfortunately, there is no safe in the room, so I had to use the front desk a lot. The mattress is quite firm. The window opens, but it is too hard to reach it because of the desk blocking it. The kitchenette is reasonably well equipped. The room was clean. The bathroom/sink area was poorly designed: there is no towel rack by the sink, which is separated by a door from the shower/toilet. Furthermore, that door had a misaligned latch and strike plate, so it could not latch closed. The shower enclosure uses a sliding glass door, but it is poorly designed, leaking water on the floor. The (bath) sink drains somewhat slowly. The fridge buzzes briefly throughout the day and night. The ventilation works well but is a bit tricky to understand. Air does not circulate from other rooms, which is good. The wifi was good. I could hear noisy neighbors through the walls (but they were quiet at night). Near good grocery shopping.

2022-02-11Although we sadly weren’t able to make our stay, Matthew at the front desk was unbelievably helpful in navigating our reservation details and provided a much needed burst of positivity and kindness to our day. He also gave us an excellent list of restaurant recommendations that we can’t wait to try out when we are able to make the trip! Thank you so much, Matthew!

2022-05-04I could not have asked for a better experience. I needed a safe place for a friend to stay after living in an unsafe situation. The staff was incredibly understanding and kind. I believe it was Skylee (spelling?) that checked us in. She was polite and accomodating. I did not get the name of the woman who worked the morning after we checked in, but she was equally kind. Thank you for making a not-so-great situation a little easier to get through. :)

2022-01-30Our family often takes trips to Ann Arbor, MI for a little Korean Restaurant called Kangs. Weve made the trip a few times now, and we will never stay at any other hotel again. Dont get me wrong. Weve stayed at some great places before that were staffed with wonderful employees. But the Residence Inn Ann Arbor North takes the cake. We only stayed for one night, but every single minute of our stay was perfect. We had the option of using the Marriot Bonvoy app for checking in, checking out, a mobile room key, as well as any requests for the front desk. The whole process was seamless, even when we checked in at the desk because we were early.Theres a little sundry shop right by the reception station. Ive seen these in other hotels, but this was the first one Ive seen fully stocked. Our room was a two-bedroom, two-bathroom suite with a kitchenette and living room. There were three phones, three televisions, and each bedroom had its own door. One bathroom had a shower stall, with amazing water pressure and showerhead settings, and the other had a tub. The Paul Mitchell toiletries were awesome, as were the kitchenette supplies. Plenty of towels, and the trash cans were discreetly placed in each bathroom and under the kitchen sink. A full hot breakfast was offered from 7 to 9:30 or so, but we left without eating breakfast. Oh, and each bedroom had USB charging ports on each side of the beds. I want to say three (two on one side, one in the radio on the other side in each room).Overall, this hotel was amazing. There was some construction going on during our stay, but it wasnt anything to draw attention. The rooms were very clean, well stocked, and the television options were great for families. Out of all the perks, the best thing about this hotel is its staff, though.Miss Britanne Warren was the epitome of excellent customer service. Checking out was a breeze, and she was such a pleasure to meet. Weve stayed at a lot hotels before in the past. I can tell when someone genuinely wants to be there and genuinely cares about the people they are speaking to. I can also tell when someone would rather be elsewhere. Britanne was genuine in her kindness and more than competent in her position. She is the essence of customer service, and she is the face of customer service in the 21st century. She deserves a promotion.

2021-09-14My son and I stayed for the weekend visiting for a football game at UM. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The pool area was perfect - clean with plenty of towels and a little bit of music playing. Our room had plenty of space and was super clean throughout. Overall a great stay for the weekend.

2022-03-13Elevator is reeeeeeeeeally slow, but that and the pillows were my only complaints. Everything was clean, staff was very nice, and we enjoyed our stay.
