Comment: This is our second time using Road Bear, though it was our first time using this location. It was very easy again. After they get whatever last minute information they need from you, they take you over to your RV and give you a full walkthrough. Any questions are easily answered and then youre off. Easy as that. The location is definitely in a rough side of town, so I would make a point not to show up before they open the gates.

Comment: We rented an RV with Road Bear and found it to be well staffed, with plenty of RVs, Campers, and looks like transit vans. They have indoor and outdoor lounges for those who are waiting for rides to the airport, or while you wait to pickup or drop off. There are vending machines as well coffee and hot water, a microwave, with ample seating. There are maps, and other booklets with all the fun stuff one can do in our state!There is also a free pantry where those who have finished their trip can leave shelf stable items, in case youre really on the go. Return was simple and the RV worked beautifully, as well brand new 2024 model, excellent on gas by the way.This will become the new place we pickup our rides!

Not only he was rude against all customers and interrupting all client/staff discussions, he was also trying to charge as much as possible from peoples deposits - even when he didnt have a real argument - just by shouting.Try to avoid returning the RV in the San Francisco premises. It will save you from breaking your nerves, a couple of hours arguing and losing a chunk of your deposit.

The RV we got (Gulf Stream Conquest) was the perfect size for us and in good condition. Unexpectedly we had a slide-out in the dining area, which gave us extra space when parked. This was our first time driving or camping in a motorhome, but RoadBear made the introductions/instructions really easy. Looking forward to another RV adventure, hopefully soon.

We have had a holiday of a lifetime in one of the Class B Winnebago Solis vehicles and despite some design flaws with the Murphy bed it was a very good RV. The staff gave quick and helpful answers in the run up to the holiday. Camille at the Denver branch was a star ..My only concern was being told at the end of the trip that I would have to pay nearly 1000 dollars for a replacement windscreen which got a bad stone chip. The team at San Francisco didnt see that I had taken out the insurance to cover it until I pointed it out, however they made up for it by dropping us at the train station. So thank you Road Bear for a great trip

Comment: What an amazing experience!!From booking the RV, to communication to the trip itself, everything was super!We rented a 28ft RV with 2 slide outs for 9 days for myself and my husnad. The RV had everything we needed, was incredibly easy to drive and was very comfortable and was huge!The bed sheets and towels provided were clean along either the actual RV being spotless.All kitchen supplies you need are there. The only one thing I would say is missing is BBQ equipment like a thongs but we picked up a cheap one in Walmart and it was no issue.Hooking up was easy to use and the tanks did us for a few days when we camped without connections.I communicated with Susie who was incredibly nice, accommodating and very thorough. She have us an excellent walk through to learn how everything worked and some great tips.The rental place itself offered complimentary coffee on pick up and drop off which was a nice touch. They offer a complimentary pick up and drop off service too to local area hotels.The website has all the info you need and there was excellent references and guidebooks for how everything worked in the van.We would highly recommend Road Bear and would use them again!

Comment: The RV was definitely NOT in a good state. While we rented from RoadBear because we wanted a fairly new RV for our holiday. The price was also accordingly! The chairs they rented to us for 11 dollar each were worn out while new ones were 8 dollar at Walmart. When we arrived to turn it in i nicely told the lady everything what was wrong with it (and it was a lot!) she wrote it down and I left it with that to not let it ruin my day. We also told her we couldn’t dump the tanks at our last campground. When she asked the manager what to do with it he told us it would cost 100 dollar!!! I mean are you kidding me! But when I wanted to explain that there was a lot wrong with it (and I wasn’t complaining about it) and now in return he wanted to charge me for the dumping he got mad and started yelling at me! The manager! I asked repeatedly if he could let me speak but found it more important to keep interrupting me. I will never rent again at RoadBear and I will tell everyone the same, also my travel agency who sends a lot of clients their way each year!

Comment: The current RV models C25 - C30 are fully and modernly equipped, but unfortunateley built in a very poor quality.The new C25 we rented had too many defects, but nobody cared.The major problem was a non usable leaking fresh water tank. It has been impossible to camp in state parcs. We had to use expensive full hook-up campsites for all 3 weeks.We claimed the damage when we returned the RV. They just made a little note but no futher reaction followed.Road Bear should attach much more importance to the quality of their RV manufacturers and take more care if anything goes wrong.Sorry, but this has been my first and last rental at Road Bear.

Comment: Had a terrible experience with Road Bear and feel very taken advantage of..Would definitely not recommend Road Bear San Leandro .Biggest collection of gangsters I would describe them as.On collection of the Vehicle everything seemed formal and professional, experience soon changed when we realised the Rv had many issues that had never been brought to our attention.Trip itinerary involved going south to LA and as far as Palm Springs for a birthday celebration but soon changed when the it was discovered the sewage tank has had a hole in it and there also had been a sort of cheap cowboy attempt at repairing it on the DL.We know this because we brought it to a Rv mechanic near us in the hope gaining of a bit of advice.When we eventually got in touch with their non existent customer service they requested we bring the vehicle to a service centre of theirs miles out of our way.This resulted in us cancelling plans.Vehicle smell was getting worse so we obliged . Had to book into a hotel for a few nights till Van got replaced. (No reimbursement)All this I could accept or at least get around until it came time to return the Rv. Immediately on arrival in the gate there was this sense of try and catch us out demeanour about them . The Road Bear Representative who had been very nice and formal turned into a different person altogether .They quickly drafted up a contract and had no intention on telling us that we were not getting our deposit back.At that point was very tired Uber was our side and had our flight to get so had to leave. Will be disputing our contract with them. Very disapointed

Comment: TLDR- Overall positive experience. The San Leandro office is pretty awesome, would rent from them again. Road Bear RV roadside assistance could use more training.2 days into our trip our water heater stopped working and we were without hot water for 2 days. The emergency hotline instructed us with utmost confidence that replacing a fuse would solve our issue. We ended up going on a wild goose chase to find a replacement for this mostly out of stock fuse and ended up losing almost a full day and tacking extra miles on to our trip ( mileage is prepaid) to find out it was never an issue with the fuse, but the control panel was faulty. They finally agreed to sending a mechanic to diagnosed the issue which really should have been done in the very beginning to fix an issue only a repairman can remedy.The staff at the San Leandro office where very patient and understanding. The manager didnt charge us for the extra mileage, refunded all expenses made towards getting the fuse, and the miss at the front desk ( forgot her name but bless her heart) listened while I vented. She even let us tour the other RVs for our next trip.Would definitely rent from the San Leandro Road Bear again.

Comment: Update:Road Bear RV has failed in all the points we expected them to respond for our flat tire incident:- They failed to provide 24/7 road assistance we paid extra for- They failed to contact any other assistance in our behalf- We had to pay 500$ for assistance which would have costed them 2500$ according to their own road assistance provider (Ford)- They gave us wrong information about reimbursement saying that we should submit the claim, when Ford responded that ONLY the car owner can make such claim- After reading the original review they promised to have a response in “a few days” and we are over a month now without an answerSo far Road Bear RV has been our worst experience, and our 23 days bill was over 3000$ plus 500$ for our flat tire incident.Original review:Provided road assistance was disappointing. We had two issues, a flat tire and a key locked inside, for both issues we were asked to deal with it ourselves as they couldnt find a proper provider nearby. Even worse we have to deal with reimbursements ourselves when we would have hoped they would with it as they were supposed to bring that support 24/7 in the first place!

We got it at Las Vegas and took it for 11 days through the national parks and dropped it off at San Fran.The RV that we got was super clean, fully prepped and ready to go. The services we got at pick up and drop off were absolutely perfect. No delays and over talking about contract details. We got in- signed a few documents, did a walk around the RV and left. The only things we would add (Nothing to take down)will be:A place to dry the dishes.Move the magnetic charging place to be far from the sink (no reason to be near the water)Add a towel or something when they get out of the shower.We loved every second of our time at the RV and cant wait for our next adventure.

Comment: In short - check the water in the RV before you leave. Our water smelt so bad that it was unusable for washing, showering, or even boiling water for coffee.Unfortunately, we didnt discover this until we had arrived at our remote camping spot, several hours from any ability to change out the water and with no cell service. This seriously impacted our weekend rental - no ability to wash dishes, take a shower, or even wash our face and hands.Road Bear RV is generally a good place to rent from - good RVs, good people and generally very accommodating.I was surprised when I returned the RV and told them about the water problem. They remarked that no one else complained about the water in their RVs. They didnt check themselves to see if it smelt. They did not offer any kind of offset - hey, sorry about the water - well take off the charge for dumping the grey/black water tank. And in fact, I was felt to feel like it was my issue, not Road Bears.Usually, have had luck with Road Bear - but this was not a good experience on this rental.

The manager, Kanishka, was very helpful. He was patient to answer my various mundane questions and also check and apply any discounts possible. No price gouging like other RV rentals. The price you pay is the same if booked months in advance or just the day before. No airline style flex prices. We had to call roadside assistance during our trip but Roadside assistance call center is located right here in the US/California, so they knew what we were talking about. The roadside assistance was swift and painless. Highly recommended. We will be booked all our RV vacations through road bear for sure.

He explained everything thoroughly to make sure I understood all the insurances the coverages an answered any questions about the RV. Gaby walked us through when we picked up the RV she went over every part of the RV to make sure we understood how to use each part and made sure we could access all of the storage compartments.At the end of our trip we wanted to extend our rental one more day so we called in and spoke with Jose who was very helpful and very informative on what we needed to do in order to extend the rental. Gabby even followed through to make sure we had all of the proper information to extend our rental. The entire team at Road Bear were fantastic the RV was awesome it had everything you could need it came fully stocked with dishes toaster coffee maker pots pans a couple of dish towels a cutting board. The RVs I was practically brand new it had 24,000 miles on it. It drove like a dream we had a fantastic family vacation and we want to thank the entire team at Robert for making it possible thank you very very much.I found Road Bear after doing some research on RV rentals. First we were considering Cruise America but after reading reviews on the condition of their RVs we chose Road Bear because of the fantastic reviews of the conditions of their motorhomes. And I must agree the motorhome was fantastic the next time we rent an RV would definitely will be using Road Bear!

While we had the RV there was a leak on the floor from the grey water reservoir most likely, since it happened right after we took a shower. I called the help line and while it was difficult to diagnose the problem on the phone, we eventually were able to resolve the issue. I took one star off for having a missing O-ring on the grey and black water hose, which caused leakage of fecal material (yuck!) when we dumped. Also some of the buttons on the microwave didn’t work. Also likely due to no fault of the agency’s the whole rig was super noisy, the windows rattling while driving etc. Even though the rig is only 1 year old with 25,000 miles, the interior felt dated and old. The beds were comfortable though and everything was in good condition.

Comment: We did an extended rental from Road Bear for a National Park road trip. The whole experience was great. Easy check in and check out. The vehicle was well equipped and we had no significant issues. The only slightly negative comment would be the quality of the rental camp chairs. We ended up buying new ones for ourselves and leaving them with the RV when finished, but that was for personal comfort and the fact that we had the RV for almost 3 weeks. Something that might also be helpful would be an add-on expanded convenience package with a few more extras like small propane grill and small cooler. This could help those who are flying in and are unable to bring items like that along. This isn’t a complaint at all, just something that the company may want to consider in the future as a supplement to the current convenience kit. Overall, we would rent from them again, and look forward to our next experience with Road Bear!!!

Comment: I highly recommend RoadBear for RV rentals. We rented a small RV for 4 weeks. We toured California. The RV was well equipped and reliable. The customer service was exceptionally good. We were novice RV campers, so we called the Help Desk 4 times during the trip. One time we had a flat tire from running over a screw. The Help Desk made arrangements for Roadside Service that arrived quickly and gave us the help we needed. Each time we received accurate help and guidance. Our experiences during the reservation process, pick up and drop off were also excellent. The staff were friendly and well-informed. We plan to rent from RoadBear again.

Comment: Excellent RVs at affordable prices! I look forward to renting with them again. This was my first time driving an RV. I ordered a 24-foot but got the upgraded 26-foot on arrival for the same price. The RV was brand new; all appliances were in top shape and easy to operate. The gas stove was fantastic and the thermostat made our RV toasty within five minutes. With the slide-out bed, the RV slept six comfortably and we could have probably had one or two more. Staff at pickup and drop-off were friendly and accommodating. Upon pickup, I was nervous to drive the RV, but the staff spent a long time showing me how to operate the vehicle and assuring me that I would be fine. Then bad road conditions made me late on the day of return, and the staff kindly waived the late fee. I absolutely plan to rent from them on my next RV trip and would recommend them to anyone!

Comment: Roadbear were unethical and disgraceful! They seem good at first but will absolutely over charge on fabricated cleaning fees when you return the vehicle. We spent an entire day cleaning the vehicle after we rented it and they still charged us $700 for cleaning because they found some dust in the kitchen sink?! They told us that we are lucky because others were charged $1800. We’ve been going to Burning Man for 5 years with other companies and always returned the RV in this condition after a full day of cleaning and have NEVER been charged a cleaning fee (not a single dollar). We also had a faulty lock that broke and we had to pay for our of our own pockets despite the paperwork saying they’d fix and faulty items. I’ve had no problems with Cruise America previously - try them. Avoid Roadbear. Ganeshka at the San Leandro branch was particularly unhelpful. I’ve included photos of our clean RV for reference.

Comment: Actually everything good renting out with Road Bear i can give 5 stars to the employees except for the manager 1 star his so rude & unenthical, we had an accident issue bought a supplemental insurance when i turned in all documents needed he told me by phone that theres no way the Insurance will cover the damage because its our fault, per Insurance Terms & Conditions stated that Rental company employees cannot interpret or advice you on what the policy may or may not cover being that said i just let it go not to agrue with the Manager he said he will turned in the claim and waited for that Insurance company to contact me up to this time i never heard from them.

Comment: We rented our RV in San Leandro. Spent 12 days, drove 4600 km, 4 states. The staff at San Leandro branch was really perfect. Check in, check out and the whole process was smooth and easy. This was our best RV experience ever.

Comment: Terrible service which cost us hundreds and hours of time.Called twice on Saturday saying we would be arriving very close to closing time and instead of waiting for us, they CLOSED EARLY even though they knew we were about to arrive, forcing us to spend hundreds to store the RV for 2 nights and Uber back and forth.Then when we finally returned the RV, they said they would charge us 2x the price of gas for any gas missing, so we rushed to the nearest gas station to fill up. Upon closer inspection though they dont change 2x gas. So we wasted even more time and money filling up.... And ended up missing our Alcatraz tour.Needless to say road bear ruined our vacation -_-

Comment: In San Leandro (SF), friendly staff, well maintained RVs, extensive introduction to the vehicles as well as an uncomplicated return procedure in a relaxed atmosphere. We had a great start of our RV tour as well as a pleasant farewell. Note: check the shelves next to the reception desk. Guests leave their left over utilities (soap, coffee filters...) and food (olive oil, salt, ...) there. We realized this too late, so we bought everything and had plenty of left overs which we dumped there.

Comment: Not at all pleased with this RV. We rented a four winds RV and are currently traveling with it. The first day we arrived after a four hour drive at our campsite only to discover the air conditioning did not work. Not great with a temperature of 100 degrees :-(. We contacted Roadbear but they suggested one of us should drive back to SF and get it fixed and the rest of us should enjoy their selves that day??!! Really?!They made it our problem as it should have been theirs. Eventually we drove to Las Vegas and had it fixed there together with a rack in the bathroom that was loose from day one and a cabinet above one of the chairs that kept loosing wood chives when the car was moving. No sorry for the inconvenience or anything. We choose Roadbear because they were supposed to have good quality new RVs but in my opinion they are fabricated in a really short time with low regard for quality. Its not the vacation I hoped to have with my family and we still have a few weeks to go. I am just really disappointed in this company and the RV. Every day something else doesnt work the way it should( other cabinets are loosing wood chives, the temperature in the front of the car at the bottom is sooo high that after about three hours driving you cannot have your feet there without almost feeling like they get burned, the airconditioning in the front is not exactly cooling the car as you would expect. Anyway it is clear I will not recommend Roadbear to anyone.

Comment: Wonderful! Our third year in a row. The Road Bear team is friendly, efficient with every aspect....on line reservation, pick up and drop off....quick and easy. The RVs are perfect for a camp trip. We always rent the Class A and love it. The Road Bear crew does a great job to be sure the RVs are in great shape and that all is working. They seen to turn them over on a regular basis so they are always no more than a year old. Easier to drive than I expected and more than enough room for all our food and toys. Great to be sure to rent the bedding and camp chairs...easier when you are done. Would recommend to any family that enjoys spending time in our great Northern California campgrounds.

Comment: I rented a class A vehicle, it was the worst trip I did in my life, the wheel is stiff and theres void in it made it hard to drive in the freeways, the door step is automatic and it didnt went back to its place so I damaged it when I drove to a gas station, they charged me for their mechanical fault. I called their customer service and they didnt report the incident on Saturday and I couldnt drive with door step hanging outside, I called on Monday but they said I can take it out if I have the right tool and it turned out that it sealed and cant be open by regular tools. Theres no light indicator to warren you about the door from inside or on the driver cabinet and no alarm for any mechanical problem in any door or steps.Overall when I report what happened politely and asked the manger why they didnt explain this issue to me he said the I need to make sure about the sound of the step when I close the door even if theres loud noises around me and its not their responsibility to mention that to me when I pickup the vehicle, can you believe that?The manager was rude so I paid for the step and left this horrible services.

Comment: I rented from Road bear RV Las Vegas for a trip around the national parks of Utha and Arizona. Even though the trip was fantastic, and that we had no problem with the vehicule the drop off was a very bad experience since we were charged more than 400$ for damages that we could not have done. I felt riped off and I will never rent from them again. Even though the damage they claim could not happen without exterior damage to the bumper, the manager was absolutely inflexible and confrontational. Bad bad experience. If you decide to rent from them anyway, take the time to look around the vehicule and take picture of everything. They claimed damages on the roof from another party that was returning at the same time as me even though the guy who showed the vehicule in the beginning never invited us to check the roof.
