I havent been in this one but I lived out in California and they had one and I mentioned to owner to put one in Michigan lol and he said they were considering it and they were looking at Kalamazoo I thought my home town growing up ( now live in lansing) so when I came back from California I had 4 big boxs shipped back from soda taffy. You name it I now turn 60 this yr..hopefully making it to Kalamazoo in July 2022 and it in area where I be..Cant wait to come in...need one in south Lansing south people would go crazy in love with it
Staff was very friendly, and gave me free stickers for my birthday. :)large selection of sodas & candy. “old fashioned”, very cute & nostalgic. it wasn’t very expensive either, and they have a lot of deals if you are trying to buy multiple of one thing. overall enjoyable experience!
Super cute place. They have all sorts of nostalgic goodies and new things to try. There is a great soda selection as well, they carry around 500 varieties. They also carry knick knack items and creative retro signs that would be great for a movie room, kitchen, or laundry room. Its a nice place to go for a quick date to enjoy treats while sitting on the street to chat and hang out. Its also a fun place to visit with kids after going to the public library.
Not gonna lie this store is very overwhelming. Lots of kids running around and touching everything. They have a great selection of candy and the staff is very friendly but it just was not a vibe for me. Prices a little high. If you’re into candy shops though, you’ll probably like it!
Great place if youre looking for unique drinks, snacks, decorations or trinkets. Wide selection of sodas, 30 different kinds of root beers, strange flavors and ice cold ginger ales. Candy, both new and old, fun things for kids. I go there very often and the employees there are always nice and helpful.
I am a 49.5 year old woman with a sixteen year old son named Thor, I have stars tattooed on both of my cheekbones, any time I see a swing set I HAVE to give it a whirl, and I will hop happily through any sidewalk hopscotch grid I see scribbled on the ground to this day. Age has nothing to do with having fun and seeing wonder wherever and whenever one can, in my eyes. So, wandering into this fantastic emporium that is the perfect tribute to childhood joys really made an ordinary Tuesday brighter. Everywhere you look there is candy-the literal kind, as well as colorful eye candy in the form of nostalgic toys, gag gifts, so much more. My husband and I knew we would impulsively spend our months grocery budget on Pop Rocks and anything BUT practical things, so we happily spent five on a few fun little bits and bobs and left. What we left with in the brown paper bag made us happier than the high-tech TV we spent a hundred times more on...and to me, that is the magic and the entire point of this store. We can forget it is the little things that can bring the color back to our rainbows. Anyone have two cups on a string I can borrow? I need to make a phone call...
If youve ever wanted to try ranch, dill pickle, or buttered popcorn soda -this is the place for you. They have an insane variety of crazy pops and retro candies with a soft backdrop of 80s metal/hairband music. My husband was in love. However, prices are steep. Each soda is $2.29 (combo packs knock a little off) and the candy is unmarked which led to a bit of a surprise at the register -we spent $25 on 8 sodas, gum balls, a blowpop, a Charleston chew, and Zotz. If you have a keen eye, you can get many of the beverages and candies for half the price elsewhere. Hefty prices aside, it really is a cool little store.Note: because the sodas are specialty, you can only return your empty deposits back to the store
So many fun things to try here. Went in recently to put together a soda pack for a birthday gift and the staff was super friendly and helpful. And as someone who hesitates to shop during this crazy time, I so appreciate that they are enforcing the mask wearing and have sanitizer at the register. Definitely felt like they care about the safety of their customers and staff. ❤
Just stopped in tonight to grab some root beer. This place is honestly so freaking sweet. The man working behind the counter was SO nice and SO knowledgeable about root beer and told us some really cool things about the process on how it’s made. I personally am more of a cream soda type of gal myself, but they literally have anything you could ever dream of here. Please, if you’re in the area, check this place out! You’ll want to brag about it to your friends :)
This store is THE MOST FUN! Seriously. Its bright and colorful and fun. All of the candy Ive had is DELICIOUS. Most importantly, the staff is so, so, so nice. They gave me, an adult, a gold star sticker for filling up my bag of candy to overflowing. A small thing, really, but it made the experience even more fun and positive. I super dig this store. Great location, great prices, great staff, great products. PLEASE go check it out!!!!
Really nice store. Found a lot of our favorite candies and a lot more to try out. Huge selection of sodas. Very friendly staff, they helped us see if they had celery soda (they did not). All in all a great shop. They also had gag gifts, wall signs, playing cards, metal lunch boxes and other novelty items.
If you enjoy a host of super weird and exotic sodas and candies, then this is the place for you! There are literally 100s, possibly 1000s of different soda flavors ranging from the normal to insanely strange. There are also a wealth of candies to choose from that follow that same pattern. Its a really cool place to find that weird thing youve always been curious to try.
What a cool place! They specialize in having all kinds of glass bottle sodas, as well as vintage looking candy, and other knick knacks. The owner was so friendly to me. Will be back again! And to the person who gave a 1 star, how could you not give credit to literally the nicest staff members ever. Genuine kindness from them and I dont think I saw them not smiling once.
Went there for the first time about 2 weeks ago. My niece introduced me to the magic of Rocket Fizz and I will be returning many more times! Great selection of candies from the past and a huge assortment of candy from all over the world. My daughter who is fascinated with Anime found some a small assortment of candy from Japan and China. Not to mention the huge selection of different types of soda pop available, anything from dirt to pickle juice flavors. Along with foreign drinks. I would compare it to walking in to Willy Wonkas imagination.
A fun place for kids, families, or anyone with a sweet tooth. hundreds of varieties of sodas ranging from normal to exotic flavors. A good selection of international and unique candies. you can come in with just a few dollars and come out with a cool gift or surprise.
I had heard so many great things about this store, and I anticipated visiting for weeks. However, I must say that I was quite disappointed. The store is 80% sodas in classic bottles with incredibly strange flavors and 20% candy that you could get at Five Below for way, way cheaper. Not worth the trip.
Incredible selection of delicious novelty soda and a few that just might make great gag gifts. Nostalgic selection of candy. If you cant find a gift for someone with a sweet tooth that you think has everything, you need to stop by Rocket Fizz. I do think they might benefit from having later hours on Friday and Saturday sharing an entryway with The Union!
This store is great! It is just what downtown Kalamazoo needs. The retro candy brings back so many memories. The soda choices are amazing. It was fun reading all the labels. The tin signs are a great touch. The hours of the store are perfect for people who work downtown. Its great that they are open later. This is a store that youll need to revisit often to check out whats new.
Pretty unique for what seems to be just another candy store. They have lots of taffy, some oddball candy, and odd sodas, most of which you’d never buy twice. They had a childhood favorite of mine from Chicago, green river. I wouldn’t drink that past age 10, but it was fun to see.You get one of two sized bags and jam it full of bulk candy and taffy.
A little slice of silly in the middle of Downtown. A great place to shop for gag gifts or just to look around. In addition to their many novelty drinks and candies that I havent been brave enough to try myself (bacon soda, chocolate covered potato chips, grass soda, vomit jelly beans), they also have a fine array of genuinely delicious drinks and sweets. There are also lots of joke items and toys-- so many so that you may want to be careful about whether or not you bring your kids with you. There are lots of pranks that make sound and can be tried out in the store. If you do bring the young ones, be sure to bring your cloak of patience as well.
Looking for that hard to find nostalgic candy from when you were a kid? Looking for a specialty beverage, grapefruit soda or a ranch flavored soda? How about some fun signs to hang on your wall or a taffy bin to dig through? This is the place. It exudes childish fun and has some real hidden candy treasures. Ask the staff for suggestions if you are overwhelmed. They really know their stuff!
Fanastic find!! A candy store for us old timers..lol yes even young kids can enjoy...variety of new and old brand candies bring back childhood memories. 2022-07-02Being here makes me feel like a kid in a candy store.. wait, it is a candy store! But there is so much more! From sodas to candy to vintage goods and more, this is the perfect store to quench your sweet tooth! Try the Birch Beer, it is one of my favorites! You can also get a float with any of the sodas through their partnership with Spirit of Kalamazoo! Such a cool place here in Kalamazoo!

2020-09-07Rocket Fizz is one of the most fun little shops in Downtown Kalamazoo! It has a crazy large assortment of candies and sodas. I like to try different flavors of Japanese Kit Kats and salted crickets. But dont worry- they have scores of more traditional delicious treats!!!They also sell funky metal signs and neat little random toys and gifts, like mood rings. The employees there are helpful and kind.

2022-03-28Rocket Fizz is located down beautiful Kalamazoo Mall. If coming off Michigan Ave the candy & soda pop shop is close to the end on left side.If you get chance to visit be prepared for a WIDE variety of sodas! Also the amount candy available and the novelty items is worth popping in for that special treat.
