Walled Lake Western High School held their senior prom at The Roostertail earlier this month. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and the students deemed it Instagram-worthy. So pretty, we didnt need to bring in additional decoration. The students loved the balcony and floor-to-ceiling windows looking over the Detroit River. We also appreciated the secure, private parking lot.Nicole, Director of Sales, was such a joy to work with. She helped us put together a realistic payment plan for a school organization, and always got back to us immediately when we had questions. The venue cut and served the cake we brought in, provided us with easels for our seating charts, and even broke out a few neon signs around the bar area that fit our Motown Nights theme.I hope to return here again the next I am in charge of planning prom! Thank you again for making it a beautiful and memorable evening for everyone!
Awesome venue. I worked at a wedding there iver the weekend. Nicole, the manager was GREAT to work with and the overall staff was very nice.
To Nicole and the entire staff at the Roostertail, Ana and I want to thank you all so very much for making the most important night of our lives so amazing. I could not be happier with how our wedding turned out and it would not have been possible without such an amazing group. Nicole was absolutely pivotal in the planning process and helped to execute a flawless night filled with the most amazing memories. The Roostertail truly is such a beautiful venue and it exceeded every expectation that we had for our wedding. Between the breathtaking views, the delicious food, and the stellar service, the Roostertail left very little to be desired and we will always treasure the memory of our wedding. There are so many aspects of this venue that truly make it one of if not THE best wedding venue in the Detroit area. I would high recommend and encourage anyone considering The Roostertail for their wedding to have no hesitation as Nicole and her team are absolutely the best.
Had the most amazing high school prom at The Roostertail. Through the whole planning process and through the event, the customer service was phenomenal, the venue is stunning, the food was superb, and the kids had SUCH an amazing time. Best prom ever. Cannot wait to come back!
We had our corporate holiday party at the Roostertail and they were AMAZING! Nicole and the staff were so courteous and on-top of everything all night, they provided so many extra special touches for our group. Nicole was so accommodating with our requests and helped make everything feel safe considering COVID conditions. The venue was setup beautifully with the centerpieces and decorations they provided and the food was delicious! The steaks were cooked perfect for everyone - which is hard to do for large groups! Every employee complimented what a great venue/location it was! Highly recommend this venue for corporate or any large events!

Beautiful by the Lake of downtown Detroit, MI. The Roostertail venue is great for weddings, birthdays and any other celebration. We went to a 40th marriage vow renewal outside facing Lake Michigan. The celebration wad inside. Its absolutely beautiful. The staff was friendly and seems to thoroughly enjoy their jobs. A drone watched the event the whole time. Funny...

We had an absolutely amazing time having our wedding reception at the roostertail. The location cannot be beat in Detroit. The ambiance is also amazing. And everything was setup flawlessly and beautifully by Nicole and her team, even throughout the pandemic and rescheduling and finding ways to accommodate us with the restrictions caused from the pandemic. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking to plan their wedding or event!!!
Our daughters wedding, originally planned for 10.10.20 in Grosse Pointe was rescheduled during the pandemic for 7.1.21. Sadly, in January of 2021, the venue announced a major renovation and moved all weddings outdoors to a tent. Six days before the wedding, the tent was damaged in a storm, creating the need for a very quick venue change. In stepped the Roostertail, just 3 days before the wedding! From the moment we met Nicole and Michael, they were confident, reassuring, and positive they could create a dream wedding in only a few days. With so little time to make changes and notify guests, we had to trust Nicole and Michael and leave all the details to them. They exceeded our expectations in EVERY POSSIBLE WAY!It is impossible to express the feeling walking into the Roostertail and then watching our daughter and son in law walk into the gorgeous Palm River room, with the absolutely breathtaking view. The entire staff was attentive, professional, and anticipated and met our needs before we even asked! Michael asked my favorite drink when we first met and ordered the malibu to make it, Nicole made sure I had that drink in hand all night long. The food was delicious and beautifully presented and received so many compliments. The owner, Tom Schoenith, even joined and shared stories and memories with our guests. During the evening they added a dry ice drink bar that was such a surprise and a hit with everyone! Guests were absolutely in awe of the Roostertail and their ability to create the night in a matter of days. Their attention to detail was incredible and they appeared to enjoy the night as much as we did. Nicole even created a slideshow of Lauren and Conner from Instagram pictures! Our only regret is that we didnt book the Roostertail from the start as their all inclusive package (food, cocktail hour, appetizers, premium bar, chiavari chairs, linens, table vases, outdoor covered ceremony deck overlooking the water, specialty drinks, and tax and gratuities) would have saved us time booking outside vendors and money.Thank you Nicole, Michael, Tom and all the Roostertail staff for making Lauren and Conners dream wedding possible and truly better than they ever imagined it would be. 🥰

We held our holiday party there again this year & the food was 100% better than last year. They must have gotten a new chef! It was absolutely delicious 😋. The servers that evening were very efficient, too efficient to the degree that my full drink was removed/cleared each time I my husband and I went to dance. Very frustrating. Its a beautiful venue however and since the food is significantly better I will now recommend it!!
Ive been here twice - both times for my firms holiday party. This is a very huge space. The parking lot is humongous and the staff were very pleasant. The lower level is gorgeous and the upper level even more gorgeous. This place is suitable for weddings, or any event that requires a large comfortable space that can be decorated to your liking. The food was great as well, the steak was amazing, not so sure about the chicken. The sea food bar was to die for BOTH TIMES - that was definitely the hit of the night.

We got married in the Club Room at the Roostertail in October 2021, and everything about our experience with this venue, staff, event planers was PERFECT. Nicole was our day-of coordinator, and she was so helpful over the entire course of wedding planning. From the moment I first reached out to the venue, she was on the phone with me that afternoon with a package totally tailored to us and our wedding vibe, and I could tell she truly cared about delivering us the best day ever. AND Roostertail makes planning and personalizing your wedding package super super easy. That kind of care eliminated so much stress during the planning process...and even on a hectic wedding prep morning, we never doubted everything at the venue was under control & would turn out beautifully.Our wedding was just over 2 months ago now, and were STILL getting stellar feedback from our guests about how much fun they had, how amazing the food was (we did cocktail style instead of plated sit-down dinner, and it was just *chefs kiss,* and so filling), how attentive/professional/friendly the staff were, and how beautiful the location was.Literally, our wedding day would have gone so differently if we got married anywhere else, so Im endlessly grateful we made the decision to put our day in the Roostertail teams hands.
Absolutely loved the venue!! Nicole and her team were absolutely amazing to work with and made our wedding so EASY!!! Shawna is absolutely the best planner I have ever had in any part of my life. If you plan on having your wedding here ask for Shauna and tell her Tiffany sent you!!!!! I promise you I will put my name on it you will be amazed.She can make the impossible happen! So I ordered a custom wedding cake from New York and it was Delivered... The only problem is that the cake delivery person was an 2 hours late!!!! Think of how furious i was i made bridzilla look like a angel....so I couldnt even do pictures of the cake cutting till the very end when my guests started to leave but Shawna had a plan B already she told me not to worry she has a huge sheet cake in the back and she can have them cut it and serve the gust on fancy platters with beautiful strawberry garnishes!!!! Whaaa....My $700 cake arrived at the end and I had 2 kinds of cakes :) thank you so much Shauna you are a great friend now to me I will never forget how much she did for my day.

My Husband and I got married here on 6/29/19 and I couldnt have imagined a more perfect wedding. We had the ceremony on The Dock and the reception in the Palm River Room upstairs. Nicole was our event coordinator and she did such an incredible job giving us exactly what we wanted, and we were very particular about how we wanted everything. Nicole and the Schoenith family went out of their way to help us get everything exactly the way we wanted it to be and we will be forever grateful for that. Thank you to everyone at The Roostertail for giving us our dream wedding!
I cannot say enough good things about our experience with Roostertail! Nicole was our wedding coordinator and she was amazing! So on top of things, organized, and efficient. Everything went flawlessly because of her. Also, the venue itself has an amazing view right on the river front and the food was delicious! Not a single complaint to share :)
Our wedding at the Roostertail was flawless! We had to postpone our 2020 wedding to 7/23/21 wedding, and Nicole made every part of the process so smooth! She was so attentive, responsive and detail oriented, and kept us informed along the way, even coordinating with our other vendors so we didn’t have to worry about any details.The venue decor and food were amazing and tailored to our needs and vision - we even received some free upgrades that we weren’t expecting (including some boozy dessert drinks that our guests couldn’t stop raving about!)Nicole kept checking in with us all night, kept us with drinks in our hands, and we never had to worry about anything. Our guests had a wonderful time as well- they enjoyed the views, the bar, and the overall ambience!We couldn’t recommend this venue enough!

Growing up listening to WJR from the early 60s, I always remembered how personalities like J.P. McCarthy of WJR would tell of wonderful evenings there. Now I know why.It is due to you and your staff. Hands down working with Shawna and the Rooster tail was an amazing experience. Our original wedding date was set for 2020, however due to COVID-19 we wanted to push our date back to ensure the safety of our guests. Shawna and the other staff made sure that pushing our date back was not an issue and made it even more special!Prior to our wedding we spoke with another team member that made great menu suggestions for our Dinner that all of our guests loved. We were not able to eat during our event but our food was thoughtfully wrapped and ready for us to take home. The donut wall we had was a nice touch that our guests devoured in minutes.If we had to redo this day, We would have chosen the Roostertail from the beginning and not even deal with another venue. The component that made the experience over the top was working with Shawna. She calmed our nerves and made sure as she stated Whatever you forgot I remembered was not a false statement.We are so elated that we were serviced with passion and dedication. If you are second guessing this venue for your wedding or event Dont! You will not be dissatisfied.

We celebrated our 20+ years Employees at the Roostertail late last week. Nicole and her team were AWESOME! Nicole was very involved the entire time we were planning the party and when we wanted to meet for visual decisions (to look at the venue, to choose table linens and centerpieces, etc.), she set up a Zoom call so we didnt have to travel to the venue. Food was great, service was great - cannot say enough about this venue and their staff. Lets not forget the view! The riverfront added to the ambiance of our evening. Do yourself a favor and choose this venue for your next event!
I just got married at the Roostertail on Friday night. We had the MOST AMAZING and PERFECT day ever. The staff at Roostertail go above and beyond to make sure you have a perfect day. They were all wonderful to work with. Shawna helped me throughout the wedding planning and is seriously the BEST coordinator. Do yourself a favor and have your wedding here. The views are AMAZING, we got sunset photos off the river. All of our guests were RAVING about how amazing the ceremony, venue, party were. It was such a beautiful day.Thank you Roostertail for my dream wedding. I will never forget this day.

Top notch venue. My daughters wedding reception was at the Roostertail and what an amazing venue. Nicole and owner and entire staff were the best, top notch staff we have had the privilege to work with. The entire night was perfect, from cocktail hour to drinks to main course, every part of the evening was also perfect.If you want excellent, awesome staff to work with this is the only place to go. The views from the reception looking over the water were also stunning. Again top notch and more than 10 stars in my book.
The Roostertail and Nicole were absolutely amazing. We had initially booked for September 2020 and when it became clear that wasn’t going to be an option any longer, Nicole and the Roostertail staff did everything they could to make the postponement smooth and low stress. Nicole was so attentive and answered all of our questions in a timely manner. When it came to the week of the wedding she was so on top of her game that we felt totally at ease leaving the rehearsal. She was so great with communication, set up, and suggestions when we needed them (plus she’s the sweetest person ever). The staff was fun, friendly, and took safety precautions very seriously. We’ve received endless compliments about the venue, the staff, and the food. I cannot recommend the Roostertail enough. Despite everything going on they made sure we had our perfect wedding while keeping everyone as safe as possible.
Officiated a wedding. Awesome location on river with scenic views day and night. Outdoor and indoor decor was beautiful. Service was top notch from wedding assistance to cocktail hour to dinner. The shrimp and egg roll appetizers were wonderful.
I went to a wedding here. The food was good, the waiters and waitresses were nice, the music was fun, and the balcony was pleasent. There were water jets that sprayed, and they were pretty. It was cool to see all the sailboats pass by. Being able to see Canada was cool too.
Nicole and the entire event staff are rockstars! From our first tour of the venue to our last dance Nicole took such special care of us. You would honestly think that we were old friends. Everyone was kind, patient and accommodating. On the day of my wedding - the staff was ready to go and super excited for us. it was also amazing to meet the owner on our special day.The Roostertail is in the wedding business for a reason, they get it done. =)
Beautiful Venue!!! The event planner Nicole made sure everything went smoothly yet stayed in the background going unnoticed! The owners made sure the meals were served right on time and everything tasted amazing. The waterline speaks for itself and I highly recommend The Roostertail for your event!

After actual decades of stories from friends whove been to events here, honestly, Im a little concerned as to how this business stays afloat. With one of the worst hard liquor selections of any bar Ive been to in Detroit, alongside the pinterest style palette wood furniture decor, and my overwhelming impression that the owner spent more on his suit and designer frames than he did paying his entire staff for the day, I dont think Ill ever shell out to hold an event here myself. On the plus side, the staff were very gracious, skilled, exceptional to talk to, and speedy with their service.
This was an amazing event (Brews Views and Chews) the view for the fireworks was awesome and the private firework show was spectacular... Im looking forward to the next event
Where do I start? Shawna and the staff at the Roostertail run like a well oiled machine! The attention to detail and quality of service is second to none. What an amazing wedding for my daughter and family, I cannot think of another that comes close in my 58 years of being on this earth. Go there with an idea and let Shawna and the staff take it from there. There is a reason Shawna has been doing this for so long, SHE IS THE BEST AT WHAT SHE DOES!
I highly recommend this place for your special events; weather it be a graduation celebration, wedding ceremony, family reunion, company training. Shawna the manager is and was superb. I recently had the privilege of being apart of my friends wedding/coordinate yesterday. This happened to where we were 45 minutes behind. Shawa was very patient, her team step into full mood and soon the wedding reception was back on track. Everyone had an amazing time,the bride and groom were very 😊. Food was DELICIOUS 😋. FOR THAT REASON; I GIVE THEM FIVE 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Beautiful river front venue w/river front balcony and first floor front and rear patio. Was the perfect location for Havannah Nights! Paved lot costs more, than gravel lot but worth it. Call ahead to reserve the cananna.
Ive been to the Roostertail for my prom almost 20yrs ago and again last weekend for a wedding and it was even more beautiful than I remember! The wedding was held out on the covered deck and then the rest of the wedding was inside on the second floor. There was beautiful views out of the floor to ceiling glass walls and passed hors doeuvres and an open bar! The main course was EXCELLENT!!!!! There was chicken with this white creamy sauce along with long green beans and steak and mashed potatoes. I definitely would of had seconds if I wasnt at a wedding😆😆 There was at least one other wedding happening as well on the floor below, but it was not a factor at All. Nice job Roostertail! 👍🏽
Great venue however the contracted security team was very over zealous and made me feel uncomfortable.
Went to Havana Nights here Friday night which was put on by Social Connection. Waited an hour to park in what was advertised as on site gated parking. We were then told there was no parking left, and were directed into a field with overgrown weeds, garbage, and no lights. There were multiple parking attendants out there saying it was their lot. Come back to find our car broken into with personal belongings stolen. Event was clearly oversold if they had insufficient parking and had to park about 200 cars in dark fields. I’m sure our car wasn’t the only one broken into. While you may think the Roostertail is a gorgeous event space, be aware of the area and the promoters of this space. All we were told so far is “sorry”. Well I am sorry I ever visited this place. Will update review if we hear anything back from either party.
My husband & I had our wedding end of September at the Roostertail. We had originally planned for a destination wedding but had to cancel that due to the pandemic. We had to quickly find a venue. My husband had reached out to the staff at Roostertail, specifically Nicole to get a quote. During the stages of choosing a venue, Nicole was the only wedding coordinator that continued to reach out to us, willing to make our vision work with our budget. Once we decided to go with the Roostertail, we had to plan our wedding in 3 months. Nicole did an AMAZING job keeping us up to date on the latest news, how to keep our guest safe & really kept us organized with our wedding planning. She listened to our wishes & made it all happen. We really wanted a tropical style wedding, & she made that dream come to life. With little details such as palm trees next to our sweet heart table on the beautiful gazebo surrounded by water, the food being delicious & matching our theme (kabobs, coconut rice, & a banana pie), the beautiful blue & champagne table linens. It was SUCH a beautiful day & the beauty of the gazebo at the Roostertail enhanced it that much more. So happy we decided to go with the Roostertail. They made our dream “tropical style destination” wedding come true. Forever grateful!!! Would highly recommend. Nicole you were the BEST!!!
The location was very good for a wedding reception. They made due with the restrictions from covid in place. The outdoor tent worked very well for food, but the acoustics of it werent the greatest, and talking with the loud music wasnt the easiest. The staff were polite and respectfully firm when enforcing their covid policies. Overall it was a great place.
On September 5th, 1970 we were excited to host our wedding reception at the Roostertail. At that time, only big stars appeared there. *They did not cater until years later.Fast forward 50 years to September 5th, 2020 and again we were excited to host our Anniversary Dinner at the Roostertail.We were assigned Na’shelle Hill. She was exactly what this stubborn 70 year old needed!! Nashelle was extremely patient with me as I knew exactly what I wanted. But Covid happened and I became anxious on how our special occasion could occur. When offered the outside patio instead of our original Marine Room...I knew in my heart it wasn’t going to work. But it did work...and actually was told by several family members that the outside venue was just perfect for our 50th Anniversary Dinner!! The tables were set in Gold and White...the weather was picture perfect...the view of the river was amazing!!And the food...OMG!!...totally a high class chef!! Thank you to Mike Schoenith, owner/operator and Na’shelle Hill, event coordinator to making Our 50th Anniversary Dinner into an incredible evening we won’t forget!!
Our daughter celebrated her wedding on 9/25/20. Not only was she blessed with a beautiful day. The marina was beautifully decorated not only by my decorator but, with the help of Nicole the wedding planner. They you Nicole for everything accomplished, for helping make sure things were done correctly in a timely manner. For assisting with Jessicas dress bustle, you rock!!! I must say the food was absolutely delicious. Everyone had a great time!!! Thank you so much for making our daughter happy on her special day!!! Nicole, you did your job well!!!
Very friendly staff. Always a smile on everyones face and willing to go the extra mile to help. I always enjoy coming down to the roostertail as the views are breathtaking
Well my daughter and her boyfriend Were at the big charity event that you hosted on Friday August 6th.Apparently you oversold the event and there was no parking available around the Rooster tail so your security head people park in a field probably 2 blocks away and walk to the restaurant.. That field has high grass its Dirty and dark.. They were told that security was watching that field, which was not true. Besides the fact that they had to walk in the dark almost 2 blocks was totally ridiculous. Their ticket stated there was secured parking, There was nothing secured when they came to their car the window was broken my daughters purse was stolen out of the car she had over a $1000 in there And there was not a security person around. I suggest that nobody go to this place unless you want to be robbed or hurt.
Originally when I first looked at the Roostertail, I knew it would be my ideal wedding venue! Im not a decorator or planner so the background of the Detroit river wa everything I wanted!I was originally supposed to get married 8.8.20 but hello covid... And pushed it to 8.7.21. The roostertail was VERY accommodating of our change in date, which was very nice of them!Nicole was the absolute best. Again, Im not much of a planner or decorator but she did amazing helping us out with colors and tablecloths and everything! Not only that, but she was AMAZING (as well as the rest of the team) making sure I had everything I needed the day of the wedding. She made sure we had some apps and always asking if we needed anything to drink (it was hot!) I expected that it wouldnt be that great because of covid but it absolutely was!One bummer thing is we couldnt taste the food beforehand because covid cancelled the event... It didnt matter because the food was absolutely AMAZING! Best wedding food ever.100% recommend the Roostertail and their whole team helping you out on your wedding day!
Just attended a wedding at Roostertail that was held on the pavilion off the river. We had a great time dancing, drinking and mingling. Service was very attentive and drink orders were taken at the tables frequently. The steaks were cooked outside on grills and the food was fantastic. The coffee was really good too. Despite all the craziness going on in the world right now, things felt pretty normal at the venue and everyone had a great night.

Ill be honest, we were a little hesitant about it as we ate lunch at Sinbads prior to our appointment with the venue. But, within seconds of walking into the Roostertail we knew immediately this was the place. STUNNING views all around, grand decorations, rising dance floor, and a ceremony location beautifully put outside. Needless to say, we booked! This was all before Covid.Planning for the wedding had its stressful times as Covid presented some unforeseen challenges. The Roostertail was adjusting and adapting by the minute. This meant limited options and a lot of messaging, Zooming, and calling. The last few weeks before our wedding date Bronson and I decided to just give it to the Roostertail and let them do their thing. AND DID THEY!!!We put all of our trust into their recommended food selection of stuffed chicken with boursin cheese and spinach, mashed potatoes with a garlic sauce, green beans and the caesar salad. We never had a food tasting and went unknowingly into our wedding night. Our guests could not stop talking about the food, service, atmosphere, quality, and experience! Several of our guests had previously been to The Roostertail for high school proms or class reunions and had talked very highly of the venue. We knew our night would be magical and full of love with our friends and family. What we did not know was what quality and superior service The Roostertail would give it. Individual tables had personal service and their needs were delivered quickly!Nicole did a very good job as the day of coordinator. She made sure that we were punctual with our timing and we stayed organized to maximize our time with our guests. She made sure that we had everything we needed from a drink in our hand to a pen for our guest book. Our guest made several comments about the service at the Roostertail and how attentive Nicole was. We felt so well taken care of and not a single worry that night. Thank you Roostertail.What was really special about The Roostertail was how well the vendors worked together with Nicole and each other. After giving Nicole their numbers they were able to organize the venue and create the perfect environment and atmosphere for a wedding. This allowed us to focus on the day rather than the little details.The Rustic Root did a PHENOMENAL job with florals and went ABOVE AND BEYOND for us on our day. Lindsey is trustworthy and has such a creative eye! I could never have enough positive things to say about Nicole our wedding coordinator from Roostertail and the ENTIRE Roostertail Staff. Wow. Just wow. First, planning a wedding during a pandemic is one of the most stressful experiences ever. From guidelines constantly changing to guests dropping because of covid to trying to make what should be a normal wedding, somewhat normal of a wedding. The Roostertail staff made all of our guests so comfortable and we were amazed at how well informed and trained they are with the covid protocols.The venue was absolutely stunning, the food was ridiculously good and the drinks were pouring! If I could relive this day over and over again, I would in a heartbeat. The Roostertail Staff made my dreams come true and then some, even when it did not feel like it would ever come together. Even days leading up to the wedding, we were unsure if it was going to be announced that indoor dining would be shut down once again. Nicole always was on top of it and a step ahead with Plan B, C and D!Thank you from the bottom of my heart from the kitchen staff, waitstaff, bartender, Shauna, Erik from GFS, the owner! and Nicole! You all made our day so special and we could never thank you enough.

The Roostertail is incredible!! I just got married there (ceremony and reception) and everything was like a dream. Nicole is the most amazing wedding coordinator and she is so attentive! We must have asked her a million and one questions and she answered them all! The staff was able to make our mid-pandemic wedding safe and fun for everyone by moving our wedding to the gorgeous outdoor side patio, offering table service for drinks, and doing a plated dinner rather than a buffet. Everyone was in proper PPE (mask, gloves) and all of our tables were socially distanced. Did I mention the view? Being right on the Detroit river is breath-taking and the cool breeze is unbeatable. We could not have asked for a more magical experience. Thank you so much to everyone at the Roostertail for making our wildest wedding dreams come true!

Nicole did an absolutely phenomenal job helping us re-plan our scaled down outdoor covid wedding. Being out of state, we called > 15 places in Detroit and lucky for us the Roostertail was not only able to accommodate us but they surpassed all our expectations. Nicole basically did the entire thing for us! We just showed up and had a wonderful evening with our closest family and friends. I cannot speak highly enough of how smooth things went and how well everything fell into place in just two months. Cheers 🥂
We originally booked the Roostertail for our May 30th, 2020 wedding but due to covid, we ultimately had to postpone. Roostertail & Nicole were incredibly accommodating & worked with us as we ultimately decided to postpone our large reception but continue with a small intimate wedding/mini reception on October 23rd, 2020....& we are SO happy we decided to do this!! Nicole was so incredibly helpful, and worked with us to make our dream wedding (for only 13 people!). Up until the wedding date, Nicole was very detail oriented &constantly worked with us to make sure that we felt comfortable & provided great expertise & suggestions! The day of our wedding, we were BLOWN away! The attention to detail & the set up was more than we could have ever dreamed of - everything was so beautiful & they made our intimate wedding feel so incredibly special. The food was fantastic, the decor was stunning, & our families raved about all of that along with the professionalism & helpfulness of the entire staff at Roostertail. Roostertail & staff also adhered to all COVID restrictions, which put us at ease & we all felt incredibly safe the entire time. The staff went above & beyond on a few incidents that happened: 1. We had a torrential downpour/storm almost immediately after the wedding ceremony & were stranded on the deck but they brought out umbrellas/helped us dry off/put coats in dryers, etc!. 2. I spilled an ENTIRE GLASS OF RED WINE on my dress, and the staff immediately assisted me and helped me to get everything out. Overall, we were so incredibly happy with our initmate wedding/reception and with Nicole and the entire staff at Roostertail. Our 13 person event felt so incredibly special & they definitely pulled out all of the stops to make us feel special, including Mr. Schoenith who really assisted in our intimate event! Our intimate wedding day was so incredibly perfect & would not have been possible without Nicole & the staff at Roostertail! We are already so excited for our postponed large reception at the Roostertail!
Roostertail knows more about event planning and the nuances of event flow than any other venue. They have 65 years of experience in the industry so not surprising! Also, it is has been owned by the Schoenith family since day one (1958) and their expertise shows. If I could give a rating for visuals it would be 10 out of 5 stars! There is NOT another venue in Michigan that compares to their views on the Detroit River over looking Belle isle and Canada.

We selected the Roostertail to host a corporate event for about 230 people. From the day we were looking for a venue until the day of the event, the staff at the Roostertail was top notch. They were willing to work within our budget and made sure we had everything we needed. The food is amazing and there was something for everyone no matter the dietary restrictions/preferences. Every little detail had been thought out from start to finish. They go all out with the décor – our guests were blown away when they walked into the room! I worked with Nicole D’Onofrio for our event and she was amazing. She made sure I had nothing to stress about, and that was so appreciated. This was the best venue I’ve ever worked with and I would definitely book another event at the Roostertail – hands down. If you’re wondering whether or not you should book the Roostertail, do it. Trust me!

When my husband and I signed the contract for the Roostertail, we knew we had picked the best venue!In January of 2019, I contacted the Roostertail and had the honor to speak with Nicole. My fiancée (now husband) and I met with her in February and we discussed the many options and great packages that the Roostertail had to offer. My husband and I, overwhelmed in a positive way, were able to walk away with a contract that we could afford, with all of the “bells and whistles” that we wanted to have! I visited the Roostertail many times from February until our wedding day December 28, for meetings, suggestions, consultations, and brainstorming so that my dream could become a reality. Nicole was always very helpful, had many suggestions, recommendations, ideas, and really took an active interest in helping my husband and I have the wedding of our dreams! She was always available to talk to, and she was always very thorough and positive. Not only was Nicole the perfect person to work with but also was the entire staff. Whenever I entered the building, everyone was helpful, pleasant, and excited for my husband and I about our day.On our wedding day, December 28, 2019, THE ENTIRE STAFF was pleasant, helpful, and accommodating. My guests are still telling us how nice and professional the staff was and how nice the venue was. From coat check, to the buffet, to bathroom attendants, to wait staff, the entire Roostertail staff made my husband and I wedding day one that we will never forget! We enjoyed them so much, we are thinking about the next event we want to have at the Roostertail. I am so glad that we chose to have one of the most important days of our lives at the Roostertail. I had my wedding reception at the Roostertail 10 years ago, with Shawna as the planner. She and the Roostertail did a stellar job, the wedding reception was beautiful and it was the only aspect of the wedding that was totally hassle free.So, given that, last year when I started thinking about doing a 10 year anniversary party there was no hesitation on my part. Once again Shawna came through for us. She took my feedback and planned everything to the smallest detail. Anytime I needed anything she responded immediately. We did a very different kind of party this time, and just as before it couldnt have gone smoother.I cant recommend them more.As far as venues go, it is a classic and refined atmosphere (makes me think of the big band era) and they take great care of you. And, as someone who loves to eat, they deliver on food better then any other venue that Ive attended for a wedding.5 stars

We planned a last minute covid wedding at roostertail and absolutely loved it. It was a fairytail wedding. Their team heard us out and helped plan a wedding better than we could have dreamed of! Nicole and everyone at Roostertail were so sweet and helpful. Not to mention our wedding was on the water! The deck on the water was spacious and fit our needs perfectly!

We took a personal tour with her and she was extremely welcoming and knowledgeable. Her positive attitude put us at ease and she was very accommodating. The views are gorgeous! We had to choose another venue based on availability, but I would highly recommend Nicole and the Roostertail as a venue for your special occasion!
We held our wedding and reception here 17years ago on a Sunday in August! The beauty of this place coupled with the exceptional service is Untouchable! I recently visited here over the weekend and the service and atmosphere has only gotten better! This will always be my personal Favorite venue in the entire state of Michigan😀Shanua is still Amazing!

The best team and venue in Detroit to host an event! After years of planning Galas for the nonprofit I work with, I found the Roostertail to be the most generous and fun team of people to work with! Everything from the view, vibe, food, drinks and staff were a true delight! Everyone made our Gala so much fun! Nicole is the best!!!

Excellent experience ! The Roostertail went above and beyond for my daughters sweet sixteen. They made it so easy for me to plan it. They were very helpful in planing they had wonderful ideas. The service was exceptional they were so curious and nice to my quest. The staff helped me with everything. I had a variation of guests from teenagers to seniors and everyone had a magical night. Wow, what an amazing wedding! The wedding ceremony was under the Roostertail Pavilion overlooking the Detroit waterfront. Our place cards were hung by ribbons from a tree in the entrance. The reception was over the top. Youll just have to look at the pictures on the site to see how simply gorgeous it was. We had a tastefully done black, and white wedding with touches of red and shimmery silver that made everything pop.The lighting was beautiful as was a color changing waterfall that sprung from the water just behind the dance floor. Our every need was met. We had awesome food (Chef Paul made special vegan entrees and some brownies for our vegan guests), the desserts were delicious (especially the chocolate, chocolate cake), and the signature drinks were over the top. I recommend getting a photo booth. We had guests even in their 90s putting on props and taking group pictures. What a way to get family together. I want to say a special thank you to Tom Schoenith, Shawna, and the entire Roostertail staff for all their hard work to make the night very, very special.

It was a lovely place. Was at the Wayne state Medical School Gala. The place was well lit and decorated for the event. Staff was courteous and on point. The restrooms were adequately clean but there is room for improvement on that. Catering was ok but not exceptional. I recommend they upgrade their menu. Also they could improve their non alcoholic beverages as a lot of tge new generation are drinking less alcohol
My husband and I had our reception and ceremony at the rooster and it was everything we wanted and more. The venue is beautiful, historic, and the waterfront view is breathtaking. Bridgette was our event coordinator and was absolutely AMAZING. Our wedding would not have been as spectacular without Bridgette. She held everything together and is truly amazing at what she does. I would highly recommend her and I cant thank her enough for everything she did for us. She was on top of everything from the moment we booked to the day of the wedding. Bridgett is truly one of a kind and if you want to have the wedding of your dreams I would highly recommend having it at the Roostertail and be sure to ask for Bridgette.

Really lovely view and the building is nice. You can feel it was built for a different era though, but not enough so to have atmosphere. Just feels tired and the food was all deep fried or cheese. Maybe our group ordered poorly, but surprised I didnt leave in an ambulance.
Roostertail is the most gorgeous and fun place to get married! The views, food, creative horduvers, bathroom/bridal suite, bar, stage, fountains, chairs, linen, extra decor to use, and patio ceremony space was amazing! The best part was the wedding planner, Shawna and her assistants Sydney and Nicole! They knew my vision and went above and beyond what I wanted our space to look like! I cried so hard when I first saw the room and all the amazing little details they used to set up the whole venue. Shawna is so sweet and amazing to work with. She made planning the wedding so much less work and had so many little surprises at our wedding that made the day even more fun! Hands down best place to get married in Detroit!
A very classy place for an event
Nicole, Shawna and the entire Roostertail team are AMAZING! Our wedding was on April 21 and was absolutely fabulous with lots of little touches added that we hadnt even dreamed up! We asked for a chocolate chip cookie snack and got awesome little bottles of milk (chocolate, strawberry and plain) with cookies on straws stuck in the bottle! We had seen a polar bear (my spirit animal) at a holiday event and they got it out of storage so it could greet our guests! They even helped us with a unique seating arrangement. I cannot say enough good things about The Roostertail - if I could give them 10 stars I would!

My high school class just had their 30th reunion at the Roostertail, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about the night. As a part of the planning committee, we had spent a number of months trying to decide on a location for our event. Michael Schoenith (who happens to be a member of our class), gladly offered to host the reunion at the Roostertail. Once he was involved, that was it. From managing the invitations, guest list, music, decorations, food, beverages, and ambiance, every detail was over the top. The decor was outstanding--our class colors and creative displays of iconic 80s movies greeted us at entry. The staff was welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Ive never seen food stations so creatively arranged. The quality of the food was top notch. There was plenty of room to mingle, dance, or just talk. The views, of course, were out of this world. Thank you, Schoenith family and all of your Roostertail staff. You managed to out-do our prom!

I attended Chief Craigs 4th Annual Cupids Ball. The food was hot and delicious. The young servers fixed my plate and brought other juice and deserts. The Seniors were dressed up beautifully.CoCo and Fas Freddy Dee-Jayed. The music was fantastic, Oldies but Goodies. The seniors were out on the floor doing the hustle. The Viewofnthe river was beautiful. The people were nice and friendly. Chief Craigs Staff who monitored the check in were verymnice.
I have attended the Detroit Derby Brunch at the Roostertail the past 3 years. This would have been my fourth year but Covid happened. The event was moved to September. Labor day weekend to be exact. I tried to get a refund since this was not a good date for us and was told no funds were available to refund. Fast forward to now and I am being told by the event organizer that she paid 30k to this venue to host the event for 400 people. The venue is now stating that due to current conditions they can only host 100 and credit the organization for a future event that no monies will be refunded. They have over 30k and refuse to refund the money but are not able to do the duties outlined in the original event. On top of this the venue which claims they are navigating in this new world and trying to accommodate people booked fairly, they obtained tax payer funded loans under the Cares Act. Shame on them refusing to give back money for an event they cant provide.
We just had our wedding Aug 29, 2015. It is difficult to find words to describe how we feel when we think about our wedding night. We could not be happier. The my now husband and I (along with our bridal party) were able to walk upstairs to see the venue before it was filled with all of our guests. We were in the Palm River Room and we were able to walk out to the balcony to see all of our guests waiting for us at the cocktail hour down on the deck. It was GORGEOUS! It was everything that we could have imagined and more! Our guests had such a fun time, and as the bride and groom, thats what we hoped for! Shawna Peplinski took care of everything!! Our day was flawless. I cant think more highly of The Roostertail and the staff! My heart melts when I think about our day. Overjoyed and spectacular. Elegant, classy and super fun! Id do it all over again, exactly the same way. Love love love the Roostertail and Shawna, we cant thank you enough! ❤ fabulous job making our dream wedding a reality! Side note - food and drinks were abundant - which is always important when your guests are hungry/thirsty ;-)
This weekend we celebrated my dads 60th bday at the Roostertail. The service was incredible!! Nicole and her team were able to make sure our experience was top notch! Thank you so much for everything!!
Went here for prom and it was great. The only problem was I ordered a vegetarian meal and didn’t receive it. I ended up with a plate of meat, but my date ate it for me and I just ate our veggie sides. The chaos of bringing out all the meals at once is what I think caused the problem, but it was a really great venue and a really great experience overall.
The owner was superb in his commitment to excellence! Thank you Sir! The beautiful venue and the delicious food and servers were professional gracious and timely and tidy. Because of them my niece’s wedding and reception were fabulous!BIG PROBLEM DARNEISHA the wedding planner was dismissive disrespectful unprofessional and demeaning. She forgot that she is employed by Rooster Tail BUT actually works FOR and WITH the bride groom and their designated representatives and vendors. 😟
The Roostertail is a fantastic venue and their event planner Shawna P, amazing. What a gorgeous and yet historical landmark. It was absolutely beautiful. Shawna was instrumental throughout the entire process. She was friendly, kind and went out of her way to make our event special. You could tell that she really cared and wanted the event to go off without a hitch and that is did. She is an asset to the Roostertail and I ma happy to give them a 5 star review.
Truly a fairytale wedding. My husband and I had our ceremony on the patio and reception in the Palm River room at the Roostertail on 10/05/19. It was perfect from start to finish! The venue was morebeautiful than I could have imagined. Our coordinator Amber was simply AMAZING! Her attention to detail and expertise made our day even more special. From the moment we decided to have our wedding at the Roostertail she was incredible. Amber made us feel like we were the only couple she was working with. She was responsive and always available to answer any questions or ideas we had. My mother and I will miss our visits with Amber at the Roostertail. It truly felt like we were working witha family member or a friend. My husband described Amber as “clutch,” after the groomsmen forgot their boutonnieres at the hotel, Amber and Shawna handmade boutonnieres for them moments before they walked down the aisle. Just when we thought Amber could not get any better, she SURPISRED us during the reception with a customized quesadilla bar. Our guest could not stop talking about how AWESOME the food and service was. Amber and the Roostertial team were FLAWLESS. The owners even stopped by to congratulate Daniel and I and made sure we were enjoying our experience. I would recommend the Roostertail as a wedding venue. They truly create a unique experience for each couple.
Beautiful place! Staff was excellent! Very professional. Food was great! Lots of drinks! Loved the whole experience. A sweet 16. The night just ended so quickly we had such a lovely exeperience. All the guest loved the party! Decorations were very elegant.
My experience at the Roostertail with NaShelle Hill as my event planner was the most memorable, stress free experience. From the first interaction, day 1, NaShelle has been professional, accommodating, and provided service above extraordinary. I am extremely detailed oriented and she met me right there, managing all my details with me being hands-off. Her ability to do this was impressive and such a testament to her passion to service and making her clientele happy. On the day of my event she exceeded all of my expectations. There was never a moment during my planning, event, or after, that she wasn’t available to answer any question I had or deliver meticulously with a smile. Her warming spirit felt as if she was a part of my family and I will never forget how she made my event one of perfection and most memorable. I am forever grateful for the passion she had and the outpouring of excellence that she exudes! The Roostertail venue was amazing and NaShelle was beyond amazing! I highly recommend them both for any event because there will not be any disappointment.
Justin went above and beyond for our party. He was amazing! Every single person who walked in said they really out did themselves. We had a smaller party in the clubhouse, and Justin was there the whole time taking care of everyone! He put our whole party together and was helpful and really a blast to work with! If you have the opportunity to request staff, you can not go wrong with Misty as your bartender, she was fast, very accurate on her mixed drinks, super friendly, and busted her butt for us the whole party. We honestly couldnt be happier with her and Justin and the whole staff. We had one of the best nights of our lives. We cant say enough. Thank you Roostertail for all your hard work! We couldnt be more grateful!

This past spring my high school held its Senior Prom at the Roostertail, and as Class President I was chiefly in charge of communicating with the Roostertail about Prom and arranging details for the event. Planning a Prom is no small feat, and our actual event was being planned for about a year and a half before it occurred. Through all of that, we were in contact with the Roostertail, asking questions and making arrangements. Immediately after booking a date in December 2013, we were given an employee who would be our personal contact in case we had questions. Our contact was Shawna Peplinski, and pure and simple, she was amazing.To begin with, she was the person that I personally met when making our first deposit before Christmas 2013. We had to rush down to the Roostertail before they closed for a brief Christmas break, but Shawna stayed a little late so that we would be able to secure our Prom date. For the next 11 months or so, I had limited contact with Shawna, but as the date drew nearer I had more and more contact with her. I frequently had to email her questions and get in contact with her, and she would always respond in a timely fashion with the answers I needed. On multiple occasions she would contact me personally to ask for our preference on everything ranging from lighting to chairs to food - and all this for an event that some venues really could not care less about. Shawna invited our Class Council to come down and see the venue on multiple occasions, and every time we went she had suggestions on how to make our Prom the best that it could be. Up until the day of the event, I still had a seemingly annoying amount of questions and last-minute changes that I was calling her or emailing her about, but always she was extremely professional and more than happy to help. Even on the morning of our Prom, when a few members of our Class Council went down to setup, Shawna was already there personally putting tablecloths and centerpieces on the table. When she realized that we were planning to put up our decorations, she insisted that we go home and that she could take care of putting up everything as we would like it. And on top of that, she still wanted to make sure that we liked the chair color, the new centerpieces, and even asked what song we would like to be played while the salads were served.A few hours later when I arrived to the event, everything was just as planned. The dining room floor was truly beautiful, and all of her color recommendations went together. The staff was welcoming, and everything just worked flawlessly. The setting of the event, on the Detroit River, was absolutely gorgeous - a scene that really can not be replicated elsewhere. The attention to detail that Shawna and the Roostertail gave to our school, which was just one of nearly 50 having Proms at the Roostertail, was truly remarkable. To the Roostertail, hosting a Prom is not just an event, rather the whole staff realizes that it is a special occasion which will be remembered forever, so they truly try to make it a noteworthy night. And as if all of that were not enough, Shawna surprised us with a 6 minute incredible firework display that truly capped off an incredible evening. At the end of the night, I really had no choice but to find Shawna, give her a hug, and thank her for such a spectacular evening. The Roostertail is really a great place to host an event, with professionalism and quality unmatched by nearly anywhere else. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to host a Prom, wedding, or any other event - you will not be let down! Thanks Shawna!
It’s hard to put into words how incredible Nicole and the entire Roostertail team is. Last year, John (my now husband) and I met with Nicole to inquire about having our wedding reception at the Roostertail. When people say they know the moment they walk into a venue, it’s the place for them, this is exactly how John and I felt. After one meeting with Nicole, we knew this was where we wanted to spend one of the most important days of our lives celebrating with our closest family and friends. Before we had anything finalized Nicole created a texting group chat with her, John and I titled, ‘John & Deana NYE 2018 Wedding.’ Seeing something as simple as this made us so excited and we felt so special. From our first encounter with Nicole we felt truly cared about and we loved that she was just as excited as we were. We said YES to the Roostertail. This was one of the easiest and best decisions we have ever made.Throughout the entire planning process, Nicole was always there to answer phone calls, text messages, and emails promptly. I can honestly say, I did not have any worries and/or anxiety about the wedding because I trusted her 100%. I enjoyed the most important day in my life, worry-free because of Nicole. I know not every bride can say that. Nicole and the entire Roostertail team were flawless. They included several surprises the night of our wedding, which we are forever grateful for. The food was delicious, the drinks were perfect, and all the staff members were extremely accommodating. The owner of the Roostertail was on sight the night of our wedding and personally came over to John and I congratulating us, making sure we were good. Remarkable customer service! We have received endless compliments about the evening from our guests. Our New Year’s Eve wedding was so magical, something out of a movie! I honestly could not imagine planning our wedding without Nicole and recommend her and the Roostertail team with no reservations. We look forward to attending future Roostertail events!
We had our wedding in Roostertail about a month ago. There is something about its location and this venue that got us from the first day! We were planning our wedding so late but they were absolutely helpful to us. Bridget is very nice! She is professional and plans everything ahead and in good way.They even had a very special surprise for us: during our first dance the stage rised up and all the fountains turned on, honesty everything looked sooo magical!!!!! We were so lucky to find them online on Google and Couldnt be happier more than this!!
We didnt end up choosing Roostertail as our venue (because of a logistical issue), but we really enjoyed the best of service from Nicole DOnofrio. She was super friendly, down-to-earth, and was able to help us understand a lot about setting up for a wedding. This place is first class, and Nicole is a rockstar!

Beautiful riverfront venue, nasty kitchen, terrible to load in anything heavy to the venue. Every floor has multiple staircases and landings and the elevator is a day long joke. Its clean and stylized. Stick to the light stuff, youll be fine.
After recently having our wedding here, we would highly recommend the Roostertail for anyone who is looking to book a venue for any upcoming occasion. Not only did the staff greatly accommodate each guest, but the atmosphere is one that can not be found anywhere in Metro Detroit. It is definitely a hidden gem. Having our cocktail hour directly on the Detroit river is what has left our guests raving. As the sun went down, the fountain, which is located in the back of the Roostertail over looking the River, was going off and lighting up the back of the venue. This enhanced the already stunning venue in which we were spending our most special day. They bend over backwards to accommodate your every need. My husband and I interviewed all five star venues in the Metro Detroit area, and we settled on the Roostertail because there was not one thing they would not accommodate for us. There was no no in their vocabulary. You name it, the Roostertail provides it. They take pride in specializing each event to your individual taste. Thank you to Shawna, the Roostertail manager, Tom and Diane, the owners, for far exceeding our expectations on our special day.Be sure to contact them! From the moment my now-husband and I walked into the Roostertail, we loved it. One of my requirements was that I wanted a venue with windows and a view and boy did the Roostertail have a view!! It was the first venue we visited after getting engaged. My husband set up a meeting with Erica to get a tour. She showed us around and then sat us down to discuss to show us pictures of the rooms with different decor. She also showed us all the centerpieces, linens and napkins that are provided at no extra cost. That was another thing we loved; they dont nickel and dime you like a lot venues.After we visited 4 or 5 other places, we decided that we would only be happy with the Roostertail and it was the most cost-effective when we looked into how much it would to hire out the decor.Throughout the whole wedding process, Erica was so helpful. She was also very timely in her responses and answered any questions that we had. Even though she got married a week before us, she still met with us the week of her wedding to discuss all of our last minute details.On the day of wedding, I walked into the Marine Room and it was decorated perfectly. It was everything that we talked about. It was phenomenal. It looked gorgeous.Erica rounded up the bridal party and came back to get me to go to the ceremony on the side porch. She did a great job at getting the bridal party and immediate family away from the guests to take pictures right away. As we were taking pictures, she brought up hors doeuvres and beer. The bridal party really appreciated this!! I even had a meatball and the bruschetta. Both were delicious!Before we had our grand entrance, Erica explained to everyone the path they should take when they make their entrance. After my husband and I made our entrance, Erica asked us what we wanted to drink and brought it to us at our table.We had the buffet and went with the pork picante, stuffed chicken with cherries jubilee and the breaded whitefish. Everything was outstanding!! I was too excited to eat a lot, but I couldnt stop eating the stuffed chicken. So good!It was the most perfect night ever. Guests kept telling me that it was the best wedding theyve ever been to. There are so many wow factors to the Roostertail, from the fountains, to the dance floor raising to just the view. Everyone was very impressed with the wedding.At the end of the wedding, Davis helped us collect our stuff and the staff would let us know when they found things that we may want. The staff was very nice and very helpful.Everything went so perfectly! I could not have asked for a more perfect and smooth wedding. I was never worried or stressed. It was absolutely wonderful!
Its interesting how experiences can be so different. Do not be fooled by great reviews. We booked the Roostertail for our 20th wedding anniversary and it was terrible. I arrived to find the room dirty; the chair cushions were stained and torn; the tablecloths were not the ones I had chosen; and the menu was changed without telling us. Of course, guests were arriving so there was little that could be done. After I shared my concerns, the staff worked to fix the tablecloths; fix the cushions and clear the trash from the room. However, the food was not what we selected or paid for..my guests were served frozen food from GFS. How do I know? The chef walked by my guests carrying the frozen waffles- we were supposed to have a belgian waffle station. I was humiliated and spent most of the time confronting staff, instead of enjoying the day. I was and still am embarassed and humiliated. We were told to come back the next day to speak with the owner. We got there and was told he wasnt in...was told someone would contact us but it never happened. Still cannot believe a venue with this reputation would provide such a low level of service.
This was the first time I was there . I was there for a benefit and I was extremely impressed at howbeautiful the inside was and the view over looking the Detroit river was awesome.the owner found out that I had never been there so he came over bought me a drink and showed me around the whole place.it was a great place and a great evening.
The venue is amazing with great food. We have worked with Shawna for years for our annual Holiday party there, She is absolutely the best. Would recommend in a heart beat.

Directions of multiple parties are not and should be listed in plain view. Coordinator very rude. Felt unwelcomed and wish i was under the influence before i arrived. Wouldve been more relaxed.

We just had our wedding on August 22 2015 at the Roostertail Detroit. Our experience from start to finish was second to none. Shawn Peplinski went above and beyond for us the whole way through. Our wedding day was beyond our expectations. The Roostertail looked beautiful for our wedding. The whole staff there treated us like royalty.

I attended a beautiful wedding here on June 10th. The venue is beautiful but the service was horrible. Our server was lazy and missing most of the night. Server by the name of Kevin, he was the server of the table next to ours was terribly rude to us. I placed a few plates on a trey next to our table since our table was getting crowded with dirty dishes and Kevin screamed at us to not put plates on his trey and that we need to wait till our server comes cleans the table. About an hour later I asked Kevin if he can bring us extra napkins since we have not seen our server in a while and his answer was yall need to wait for yall server and he can bring napkins. Kevin removed a full plate of food off of the table while my uncle went into the restroom without even asking if he was finished with his food. I personally would not under any circumstances have Kevin near the venue if I were to have an event here he was very rude and unprofessional. I think this place is beautiful but horrible staff. Well mostly Kevin :/

I never believe in magic until I met Shawna from the Roostertail in Detroit... I always had a toasting drink in my hand... My brides dress ripped like 5 times and Shawna seemed to just appear with a seamstress to sow... Which blew everyones minds! The food was amazing, the pictures were breath taking and whimsical and everyone felt like we were in a fantasy... The best party I have ever been to in my life was my wedding thanks to Shawna and her unbelievable cooks and staff.. We were nervous about having a native ceremony and she totally accommodated us with every tool imaginable.. I really was able to focus on my bride and the best night of my life... My guest and family were also blown away with fountains, the view of the river and the beautiful decor that Shawna and her staff put together... She also put our minds to ease when we neared the date... I could have never imagined our wedding night to be this stress free... We almost hired a photographer that couldnt shoot the reflective glass inside who wasnt going to tell us... Shawna stressed we should have someone that was aware of the reflection and high lighting windows... Because of here professional advice we found an amazing photographer who nailed every picture like a pro... My bride and I were the most happy we had ever been being in the hands of a wedding professional like Shawna... Thank you for making our night beyond magical... We recently celebrated our 50th Anniversary at the Roostertail, and while every aspect was confirmed and gone over in great detail, they still wowed us at every turn. The owners, staff, venue, food, music, and execution is far beyond what Ive encountered with event planning. NaShelle @ the Roostertail is by far a true gem. Highly recommended for anyone looking to have a true DETROIT party!
I organized a 2018 Christmas Party for 80 at the Roostertail. I worked with NChelle and she was instrumental in making the event a success! For example, somehow I had forgotten to include desert with the meal, (Our budget was very tight.), NChelle baked Decorate your own Christmas Cookies which were a hit.I would and hope to have another event there in the future.
My daughter gave her wedding and reception there and it was wonderful. I like to say thank you to all who participant in making that a very special day for the couple.

Riverview. A great event space on the Detroit River with terrific views of Canada and Belle Isle Park. I have been here for a few special events and I really like the space and ambiance of the Roostertail. It is just south of Jefferson a stones throw away from downtown Detroit.
Had another great experience at Roostertail last week as we produced the 30th annual Eastside Extravaganza. Roostertail has been host to this event for 25+ of those years and always do a great job at making it a stress free event. Our house event planner, Sydney, did an amazing job this year at accommodating changing plans, schedules and attendee requests on the night of the event. Thank you!
The facility and meal were excellent. My only complaint is that while there was a carafe of coffee on placed on the table, the servers did not offer hot tea.

I experienced rude costumer service before even having the chance the book the location. Woman obviously hang up on me several times after forwarding me to another womans voicemail who didnt give the option to leave a message before hanging up. This is the worst service ever. We had a group event and the management was so rude and the service was ridiculous. The food was not worth it. I could not believe the audacity of them serving the worst fried chicken. We were all disappointed with how they treated us as customers.

2022-05-23There is not ANY location that can compare to The Roostertail! My husband and I were married there in April 23rd 2022 and to say our day was magical is an understatement!!!! While the location is phenomenal, and the experience was amazing, there is one factor that made our day one we or our guest will never forget……Shawna!!!!! As a bride planing a wedding..things can get crazy!!! I NEVER had a moment of stress or worry, because I had My Shawna!! From the second we scheduled an appointment to look at the venue, we KNEW we had to get married there because Shawna sat with us and didn’t talk about money like every other place we looked at in Detroit, but she talked with us. She wanted to know us and understand us and what we wanted! She was so loving and compassionate and excited about what she could make our day be! We waited about 6 hours before we booked with her because we knew!! She told me she would exceed my expectations…….and let me tell you…..she did!! Her attention to detail and true love for her job and desire to make our day one we’d never forget was unparalleled to anything I’ve ever experienced! Not a SINGLE person who attended our wedding did not comment on the fact it was the best wedding they’ve ever been to! 2021-12-02It has been 4 months since our wedding, and I can honestly say we still smile daily just thinking about how it all came together. From the moment we originally met with Nicole to tour the Palm River room, we knew there was no reason to look any further! The inclusion, expertise, detail-oriented planning, views, lighting, and excellent food makes the venue and your wedding day seamless and perfect! I cannot even count the number of compliments we were given on the venue, we heard “this venue is incredible!” all night long. We were even told our wedding was the nicest wedding people had been to. We had endless compliments on the dinner, the mood, the staff, and the flow of the night. Everyone wishes we could re-live the night again and again. The best part about Roostertail is the fact that they have done SO MANY weddings. They know how to make it smooth. For example, we had an open bar, but Roostertail was smart enough to but beer in a cooler in the middle of the cocktail room which significantly cut down the bar line wait time. Little details like this are the reason you go to venues like the Roostertail. Thank you again to Nicole and all the staff who helped make our day perfect!

2022-03-17Went to Will Phelps Black Party Affair. It was beautiful. There are two levels with ample seating for parties up to 300. Bars and dj areas on both floors. Big dancing areas. Plenty of room for vendors as well without crowding. The view of the water was amazing(better at night of course). One of the best hidden gems of detroit.

2022-03-09I would probably say this is more of a 3.5 star rating. I post real and from the heart reviews based on many aspects. Ill start with the reasons I really enjoy this venue. Its location is great. The staff have always been accommodating and friendly. The venue is a staple. The food is good 99% of the time but could use a little help. The rising dance floor is cool. Now to say what needs changed to make this a 5 star venue.1. The dock needs some love where they do ceremonies.2. The venue needs an elevator to the top floor for guests and vendors. The ramp going to the top floor is not safe and rotting out3. The fountain or water jets are cool but need fixed4. The lower floor that has the elevating dance floor needs to be remodeled.All this aside i do really think this is a good place but with those changes made it would be amazing once again

2021-08-12This is a review for the Detroit Belle Isle Boathouse fundraiser which was here. From the drive in to park thru the event and getting out, the Roostertail has not lost any of their style or service even recovering from the chaos of the pandemic. It was set up for the total Havana experience, girls in showgirl outfits, cigars, drinks, food and dancing. Had an area for some food trucks and a couple of booths selling jewelry, bath & body items, and one with artist created paintings, shoes, and clothing. Setting just perfect for the theme. Only problem was the non smoking deck was set up so you had to walk thru the smokers.

2021-08-28Glad we chose to trust RoosterTail for our class graduation dinner/party. Nicole & the RoosterTail staff made our event flawless from setup to closing out the night. The space itself was designed perfectly for our group size. Nicole made every effort to ensure the event was moving along as planned. She also communicated with our vendor to ensure he was on the same page. The event was simply beautiful. A good amount of our guests had never been to this venue so it was great to have such a nice space with a beautiful, natural backdrop in the lake then to add on beautiful lighting. I got so many compliments from my classmates and guests about how great it turned out.

2021-11-12We worked with the Roostertail for 2 years! Nicole was our venue Coordinator, but quickly become so much more; she was a motivator, part therapist for my meltdowns (many) and at some point became sonic the hedgehog to bring all the details together so quickly at the end. No, but seriously, not enough words for the work she did, you would never know she was working with multiple couples at a time; always available via phone, or text, check-in’s via email, active online… she was incredibly attentive to us. After moving the date, constant changes on our end, you would never know the day of.. everything was perfect! The day was so special. We exchanged vows on the side patio, overlooking the water, then entered a beautiful venue, greeted by the staff that took care of us from the beginning, until the very end. Nicole made sure the day flowed, with no hiccups. The food was amazing, my guest are still raving about it. The drinks were top-tier! The venue’s design is so beautiful and pictured well with our photo’s and videos. I can’t say enough how happy I am that we chose the Roostertail, they really care and it showed throughout the 2 years we worked together. Nicole doesn’t forget about you either, she texted me a few days after the wedding, to send videos she captured and I thought that was so sweet, she also sent us a personalized card to our home. She’s the best, Roostertail is happy to have her, but honestly, the entire team is rockstar, the owners even walked the floor and made sure everything was perfect. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
