The servers behind the bar: Newman and Carlie are wonderful, helpful, social and just excellent at their job. Stopped in for a snack, flight sample and info on where to go next. They were great in directing me on the spots to go. Thank you. Stop by here is a must. Beer, spirits, wine and the chicken chili soup. 😋
First, the food was amazing. All the pizzas were perfect, the beer was perfect, and the atmosphere is great. However, we had awful service, from Suzette. We had a Long Island iced tea, where one of us didn’t like the agave and sour mix, which was totally fine, we just asked to replace it with a beer. Suzette was not happy with that, made it sound like we were crazy and didn’t know what was in a Long Island (we just didn’t love the flavor, it happens). She said she would getIn trouble with her manager and that’s why she had to ask us all these questions about why we didn’t prefer it. Next, we asked for a second margarita, the first was amazing. It took over 20 minutes to get the Margarita, we were done eating. We were almostGoing to ask for it not be included with the bill, but we decided to wait. The margarita came and it was swimming in salt. It wasn’t like the first margarita. All three of us at the tableTasted it, and it was awful. I’m sure it was just this one margarita. We asked for it to be taken off the bill because we didn’t drink the margarita. Suzette was very upset, told us that if her head manager was here that we would never be able to trade drinks. She said that she worked 50 years in the industry and that she never took drinks back. I told her that the drink just had to much salt in it. She said she didn’t care about it, and that we shouldn’t return drink because the menu is clear what is inside them. The Long Island was a mistake, sure the flavor was bad. The margarita was just overwhelmingly salted. We had to ask another waitress to help check us out because Suzette wouldn’t come back because she was mad at us. We waited 25 minutes for our check. We made it clear to Suzette that we didn’t want her to get in trouble, that we would be happy to talk with a manager. We also told we understood none of this was her fault. I work in the industry, I know how it works. Suzette seemed like she looked down on us because we were younger, and swore in her 50 years that she didn’t return drinks. “You get what youGet” was what she said to us, wanting us to pay 12 for drinks that we didn’t love.I know the customer isn’t always right, and I understand mistakes happen. I’ve never met a waitress who would argue, and completely disregard all thought and options other than her own. The food might be good enough to come back, but this experience was the worst we’ve seen in a long time. Suzette didn’t tell us that each separate topping for the pizza was 2 bucks.
Another great microbrewery in Western Michigan. Great beers and very good food. Service was quick. Good beer and food selection. Tried the Kolsch, Indecision, Belfry, Vienna, Left Coast and Black Dog - all 6 were great. We were a group of 7 (3 kids); the place was reasonably busy for a Sunday early afternoon.Highly recommended.
Nice experience last Sunday afternoon. Casual, comfortable atmosphere. Sat in screened patio area, even though busy, good noise level to chat with friends. Food was solid, liked the pizzas in particular. Salads & sandwiches were fine. Server was terrific. Good local wines, hit & miss on the beers (had a flight). Kolsch & Cocoa Stout were mediocre, IPA and newer Pale Ale were very good. Well worth the drive up from South Bend area.
A great spot for some tasty beers. Couldnt decide after looking at the craft beer selection and the bartender was kind enough to let us sample a few. I went with the Raspberry Wheat Ale which was perfect. The food was more than adequate but the draw is the drinks, atmosphere and wonderful staff.
The server was good, the wine was good. Especially loved the cranberry wine. The beer was very basic nothing special about it to me. I’ve worked in the bar industry/ food service for 12 years breweries and distilleries. I gave this two stars for the environment, service and wine. But the beer was average at best. The food was horrible. They’d be better off having food trucks. My sandwich was so bland and basic. The server tried to redeem it by offering more samples. But $6 kids menu Mac and cheese no sides and it’s Kraft Mac and cheese. I had really high hopes for this place but I wouldn’t come back. I’m shocked at the reviews are so good to be honest. This place is great if you are going for an environment. I mean if ownership reads this that Caesar wrap and turkey sandwich are bad. Develop a better menu.
Nooooooo. Why did this happen??Ive been to the parent company Round Barn Winery many times and Ive been to Public House several times but its been a few years. The chicken wrap and garlic bread were both like chunks of salt. It was as if they took a tortilla (which I know is likely to be 350 to 450 mg of sodium) , add a cheddar cheese (ridiculous amounts of sodium), ranch dressing (liquid sodium) and then added their own salt because it just wasnt salty enough. And all you have to do to counteract the sodium that is naturally in the ingredients is make a dressing with no salt or extremely little salt and of course dont add any more salt. If a chef is in control of the food, you wouldnt get that kind of carelessness. It was nauseating. But of course...fantastic environment...esp in summer.
Josh was awesome! My mom and I visited 3 weeks ago, parked across the street. Never having been there before (or really anywhere since covid) we were a little frazzled. We were instantly seated at a table on the window side. It could have been cleaner, our table and chairs were sticky. But we ordered 2 drinks and crab cakes, and everything came out fresh and fast. Those crab cakes were awesome. Since we only wanted a snack and had to get home we were in and out quickly- wish we could’ve sampled more of the menu. Good reason to go back! Thanks Josh!
Average food. Totally not worth the price. We paid 60$ without tip for lunch!!! The pickle and chips were the only really good things we ate! Buffalo shrimp 13$ yuk! Chicken gyro and parm crusted cod sounded a lot better than they were. I don’t recommend this place at all!
It was a nondescript brewery. I had a brown ale which was average, my wife had a wine flight which was average. No real atmosphere there. Wait staff was nice but nonexistent, waited quite awhile for our drinks. Didnt feel real covid safe, no real precautions taken, luckily there were not a lot of people there so we didnt feel unsafe. Bill was average nothing too excessive.
Yummy inventive menu items. Gourmet pizza is delicious (but small and pricey). Their crab cakes with Asian slaw are the BEST anywhere and the Kolsch beer rocks! Sleek, sexy, stainless steel bar overlooks brewery. Cool bartenders and staff. The open atmosphere is perfect setting for loud groups. No intimate booths or quiet corners (if a romantic dinner is what you seek).
Knew we liked their beer and wine from the tasting room so decided to go a few miles out of our way for dinner here. Garlic parm cheese bread and accompanying poblano ranch were EXCELLENT. Everything else was subpar ☹ The custom grind cheeseburger and turkey rueben were flavorless and just meh. Thankfully we saved the poblano ranch and it saved both sandwiches.
My family loves public house, and we have dined there many times and almost always loved our experience. However, today we ordered takeout, and the service was definitely subpar. When we arrived, the manager began to yell at everyone to get in a line (there were only 4 cars), even though there were no signs or directions as to what to do upon arrival. Then, when we got home, we noticed some of our items were missing ingredients, or had different ingredients than the menu stated. That’s fine, the food still tasted good. However, we called to kindly let the manager know that we had not received what we expected, and asked that in the future he let people know when they are out of certain ingredients or if ingredients would be missing. He simply said “okay” and hung up. THEN he proceeded to call us back just to prove a point. He said “the menu says ____” and I said, “no, the online menu states X, but we received Y. We were just kindly trying to let you know that your website may need to be updated.” He proceeded to tell us their updated menu restaurants were correct. That’s great, but everyone’s ordering online right now, so you might want to update your website. Also, the CORRECT way to address a customer issue such as this is to kindly apologize, say you’ll correct the issue, NOT call the customer back to prove a point and tell them they’re wrong. Highly unprofessional and poor customer service.
While the menu is not all that large, the food was fabulous. We especially loved the reuben and gyro sandwiches. We also really enjoyed the smoked salmon deviled eggs. The staff was exceptionally courteous, and our server (Elaina) was top notch.I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Wasnt happy with the overall experience. Hostess staff at the door is helping tour customers buy merch and seat people. New to this place and there is no information or staff to direct you as to how to be seated. 20 minute wait for a pager to wait 30 minutes for table. Our server was nice but overwhelmed. Almost 2 hours start to finish and we paid $70 for sandwiches n chips, Mac n chz and an appetizer. Started at the vineyard by mistake, should have stayed there. Seems a much better place.
Had dinner and beer here after getting turned away from Round Barn Winery, Brewery and Distillery at 4:30pm. We fully understood that the tastings ended at 4 and headed to the public house instead. We ordered a flight and pizza. The beer is mediocre and the pizza was great.. until we got the bill. Hubby and I both like different things so we ordered a half and half pizza. When the bill came we noticed they charged us full price for each topping (4 toppings when it should have been 2 because of the half and half). When we brought it up to the waiter he fixed it but our bill was still overcharged by a couple dollars. For some reason I was still charged a couple dollars more than I should have for each topping. When the manager came over to speak to us about it she simply said well thats the way it is.. I cant do anything about how the prices are set. Seriously? We are overpaying for toppings because you (the manager) has no control? Although the pizza was good, its still not fair to be charged more for ordering a half and half pizza. Yeah, it was only a couple dollars which is not killing us but it is the sheer principle.
We go to Round Barn Public House as often as we can. The crab cakes are absolutely the best weve ever had, in all our travels. The service is impeccable, the food is always great and the beer/wine selection is amazing. We love this place. Sitting on the patio is always great. They even have sports on T.V. which is a huge plus for us.
Even if youre not a beer fan, the food is worth the trip and the bar is full of lots of other choices. If you are a beer fan, you wont be disappointed. Local brew, local ingredients on the menu, good service. It was an all around great experience. If you still have doubts, ponder this: Im here at 3 oclock on a Sunday afternoon in March and the place is full with hardly an empty seat. Im so glad we decided to give it a try.
The service is good, the food and beer are phenomenal. My only complaint is that after they got there license to serve food they removed the fantastic meat, cheese, and cracker plate they used to serve. You must try the Bobs Your Uncle beer, it is the best English style bitter I have had since I was last in GB.
As you can see from our name we travel a bit. Having said that, this place is one of the best in the states! I wish they had cake beer as not seasonal. You try that you are addicted period!!!! Thanks to the management and guys behind the bar and servers that add huge value to this great place! Thanks again and BVX Family will be back for that fix!!!!
The Round Barn is a brewery and distillery first. The drinks are very good; my favorites are their red sangria and their Moscow Mule (they make their own ginger beer). The menu items are high quality and have a few imaginative twists, like fresh pears on their Goat Cheese Salad. The place is nearly always busy but dont be discouraged by the wait, as its usually a short one.Im not a beer drinker, so I asked my dining companions, the craft beer aficionados, what the thought. Indecision and Oronoko Cocoa were their favorites. Round Barn has a lot of competition from local craft beers, but theyre competition-worthy.We have stopped here after biking to the area wineries. Its a nice last stop and its consistently good food. In the end, its worth the drive (bike) to this small town.
My favorite restaurant in the area. Food is excellent. The menu is somewhat limited, but I have yet to have anything on it that wasnt great. But I really keep coming back for the beer. Their Vacation beer turned my wife into a beer drinker. Their Oranoko cocoa stout, on nitrogen, is my favorite.
I’ve been to this restaurant twice. The food is not good their tri-tip sandwich and quesadillas and nachos were poorly made. My tri-tip sandwich was a huge piece of soggy bread with hardly any meat it was mostly un chewable and hardly any “caramelized” mushrooms. Their barbecue tastes like jam. The quesadilla was hard and tasteless and boring. The food truck at the Round Barn Winery has better tasting and well made food then this actual restaurant. The drinks are Ok. The service is not. These people are getting paid to give good service but the girls are rude. We received better service from the two boys who refilled our waters constantly.
The red building at the end of the street was easy to find in this small downtown. The flights were full of options as you could choose a combination of beer, wine and spirits. We decided to order the nachos, crab cakes, and the soup a sweet corn chowder. Crab cakes were some of the best we ever had. We really enjoyed the fresh sweet corn in the chowder. As for the drinks I enjoyed the Kolsch, Sangria and the Red Sky Rum. Prices are reasonable. The pizza looked delicious, we will be back.
Absolutely poor experience! This is my favorite place to stop when in SW Michigan. Staff was rude, didnt want to work, just wanted to sit at the bar and drink. Manager let it go on. We had a group of 22 with reservations. You think they would be prepared. Sadly, they were put out.
Horrible service!wine has a Nat inside of it.we havent had flying bugs for a bit now seeing how its winter.I can only imagine what else is neglected so needless to say after the nap that was in my class of wine was brushed off as if it shouldnt have been an issue and I was treated very rude lately because I brought it to their attention my husband and I will never be visiting Round Barn Brewery again

2021-08-06Great atmosphere!I stopped in here with my 2 girls after a day at Weko Beach in Bridgman. There was an hour wait at Baroda Tap and Grill, so some locals suggested the round barn. We were sat promptly and our server was attentive and friendly. My oldest and I shared a 9 Forest Pizza, while my youngest had Mac n Cheese. We all enjoyed what we ordered. Everything on the pizza was super fresh and tasted amazing! Id definitely recommend this spot for a bite to eat. They also offer craft beer, wine, and spirits. I believe they also offer tours of the distillery.

2021-09-05Very busy today but the service was great! Food orders came out fast. Sangria top notch as usual. Not a fan of the bloody marys anymore, the flavor has changed and not for the better. Still a good time as always though.

2022-02-06Excellent beers brewed on premises, average food. Spacious and sunny, great for large groups. Definitely worth a trip from South Bend. Went there with a large group and the staff was very accommodating. Probably more fun in warmer weather, as the surrounding countryside is quite lovely. Would be a great place to eat and try some really good beer while doing a wine tour of the surrounding Michigan wine country.

2022-06-22A great experience ruined by poor customer service. An employee told us his name was, None of your business. We had a great time in the bar area. The young man in the gift shop (looks like a value brand Tom Cruise) was reluctant to help me purchase two bottles of wine. I intended to buy three. I suggest management do a better job of vetting their employees in the gift shop. The service in the bar area was amazing. The woman in the bar area was helpful but refused to offer us Tommys name, I understand that but cmon.

2022-06-25I am picky about pizza! And most that Ive tried in the area rate a 4 out of 10 or less. But the Round Barn Publick House pizza is really great! We ordered a build your own, built with traditional items and it was GREAT! And our waitress was very friendly, curious and helpful too, a rarity these days. Well be back.

2022-05-18Food is good and enjoy the beer. Unfortunately, your new policy of only splitting the checks only two ways will probably keep out golf group (usually 5-8 gals) away. Don’t understand that when the place wasn’t busy at all. Even our server apologized for the new policy.
