Comment: I posted here a decade ago when Scott helped us buy our PDR home. We were looking to make some upgrades to our home and didnt know where to start. I have kept in touch with Scott, requesting a plumber reference here, a window cleaning service there... and he always made a solid recommendation. So when it came time to get some upgrades we figured we would start back with Scott. Same service as I came to expect from our previous interactions. He was engaged, responsive and followed up to make sure my needs were met. He didnt make any money from these referrals but this is what a good business does and how they operate. I love when I meet someone who just LOVES what they do and this is what I feel I have found in Scott and his partners at compass. Comment: I first met Scott in 2015 when he helped with the purchase of my home. I was working with another agent under his group at the time, and he stepped in to assist once I entered escrow. They both were of great help throughout the year, as the first home ended up falling out of escrow but I ultimately was able to purchase my current home under their guidance. I felt appreciative as well to Scott since we kept in touch since then and he was helpful with other real estate issues I have discussed with him. In the past, I couldn’t imagine leaving nothing but a stellar review for him. In fact, I previously had a 5-star review posted on a different review platform for him and the other agent.This all changed when it came to my attention that he had not been truthful with me in the past. While I did receive an apology, I felt that the trust built over the years was taken advantage of. As a CPA, I understand that clients value not only the knowledge and expertise that a service provider can offer, but also trust and integrity. From our initial buyers consultation through closing on my condo, Mark was super diligent in making sure I understood every step of the home buying process, and explaining all of my options to me without pushing me or having any personal agenda. The sellers of the home I ultimately bought requested a very fast escrow timeline and Mark not only helped with getting me set up in advance to make me comfortable committing to this timeline in my offer (and get my offer accepted over some higher bids as a result) but he also was incredible during the escrow process with helping set up inspections for me, and strategizing on requests for repair credits. Without a doubt will come back to Price + Hou next time Im in the market!

He educated and guided my wife & I through the entire process, to the point where I cant stop looking at the roofs on houses and thinking theres no way that has more than 5 years of life left in it. He was always there to answer any questions that we had, at any time, and would always give us his complete insight as an experienced owner, renovator, and landlord, which couldnt have been more valuable when we found a duplex that we fell in love with. Comment: We reached out to Janice and Scott via a work referral, we wanted to sell our West LA house and fast. Janice promptly returned my email and got an in person meeting set up. Prior to our first meeting she sent over comps from the neighborhood, context about the current market and what services their team offered. We met them, and signed the contract the same day.. Janice had a handyman and staging crew out in a few days, recommended what needed to be repaired and if replacement was necessary what we should buy based on current trends. We moved out of state prior to the house selling and they handled everything for us onsite and kept us in the loop of all the on-goings. Once the house was listed Scott partnered heavily with us and made recommendations for how long to keep the house open, when to request offers, countering, contracts and everything. It was just so easy for us as sellers and that was all do to Scott and Janices attentiveness, knowledge, and professionalism. Before the house was even sold we had recommended Price + Hou to friends. Maybe by the time we need to sell our current house in the pacific northwest they will have expanded to our market :).

When the other agents visited my condo, they focused on telling me how much they can sell it for and managing my expectations. With Scott, he focused on explaining the few things that I need to repair/upgrade to get top dollars on the market, and proactively sent me quotes on how much those things cost. Based on that alone, I decided to hire Price + Hou for their services. Scott was always honest and gave me the straight talk, and at the same time worked really hard to get top dollar for my property. They had a great selling strategy and my condo was sold towards the top of the comps.They were full service and really earned their commission. My condo was not a million dollar listing, yet I felt like an exclusive client because Scott was always responsive and made sure that my questions are answered. They also made the process easy. From all the work ranging from reflooring to home staging, they procured quotes, sent me options, scheduled appointments, and managed the work. All I had to do was choose the vendors and pay. Comment: I think first time homebuyers often walk into the process wondering if realtors are worth the fee the seller pays. I dont know if all realtors are. But Mark is.Mark was informative, tenacious, patient, and above all: effective. We look forward to working with him again on future real estate transactions.We started seriously looking for houses in February 2021. Christina was pregnant with baby #2 (due date rapidly approaching) and Los Angeles was experiencing a brutal, unprecedented sellers market. So of course we thought: Hey, this is a great time to buy a house!We wanted a realtor who knew the market and could give us maybe just a hint or two while we (of course) figure it all out on our own. Were smart people, we thought, obliviously. Im sure we can pretty much figure this out on our own, right? How bad could escrow be?Its bad. Its a good thing we found Mark.Mark perfectly fit what we needed, even though we didnt know we needed it. He gave us a foundational understanding of what was going to happen, what the risks were, what to consider, and how to approach this historically nuts LA market. Mostly he listened. Sometimes he prompted us with questions or with his thoughts, which invariably, frustratingly, turned out to be exactly correct down the line.I think the worst feeling you could have during homebuying would be Im not in control, and this thing is accelerating. Feeling like youre at the mercy of a totally opaque market, or lenders looking out for themselves, or the whims of a seller, or termite breeding seasons, and you need to act now or lose everything forever. Mark gave us the guidance and focused attention to detail we needed to feel fully stable and in control of the process. There was never, ever a point where we felt ignored or like things were happening without us knowing.Do you like wondering if someone read an email? Or being uncertain who should be doing what right now? Or feeling like I really want to ask a question, but is 9pm too late? Then dont go with Mark. He was exceptionally available and communicative at all times. Almost frustratingly so: where does this guy get off doing strategy phone calls with us night after night, or negotiating seller credits at 7am on a Saturday? Hes making the rest of us look bad.One anecdote: when we were grappling with how far geographically to look, and whether a long commute time with young kids would be too difficult, he asked his wife (also a mother with a long commute) to hop on and give us her thoughts. Id like to think this level of attention is special for us because were just super cool and lovable people, but I suspect its actually, you know, garden variety extreme professionalism and customer focus. Maybe.Ultimately, our homebuying experience was this: we saw one house in Redondo Beach and loved it, we put one offer in, we accepted one counter and then successfully closed. Mark assures us this is more an exception than the norm in the current market, but I choose to believe its some kind of dark realtor magic on his part. Escrow was in many ways challenging but we always felt that Mark was laying out a safe path for us--not forcing us down it. He kept us informed and in the drivers seat, while buffering us from having to dealing with a lot of the underlying complexity and frustration of the process.

He never talked bad about my realtor; instead, he educated me so that I could be equipped to close on my own deal successfully. Comment: I cant recommend Scott Price highly enough, and here is why: After living in a condo in Downtown Los Angeles since 2008, I decided it was time for a bit of normalcy and quiet for my personal sanity during COVID 2020, and a plot of land I could call my own (and dig my toes in some green grass in a yard). I decided to move to somewhere in the middle of the city (Miracle Mile, Hancock Park, West Adams, etc.). I had always wanted a yard, a BBQ island, and potentially a jacuzzi of my own. I think it was when the Lakers won in 2020 (I was there in the crowds in 09 and 10, and it wasnt so rowdy), and then when the Dodgers won (by the Grace of Gibson) that I knew I had to GTFO DTLA.I have to admit, it was rough to start when I started to look for homes in July. The market in Mid City Los Angeles is competitive to be polite and downright vicious at the minimum. Homes in Q4 of 2020 amid the pandemic were being listed and sold within 2-3 days in the hot markets of West Adams, Bevererlywod, La Cienega Heights, Picfair Village, Faircraft heights, Carthay Square, Miracle Mile, Mid-Wilshire, Dockweiler, Wilshire Park, and Hancock Park.Your real estate agent SHOULD be like your hair-stylist, private banker, club promoter, or wealth manager. A good working relationship is a must and will pay long term dividends.Many of them werent great communicators, decent at sales, but incredibly bad on the tactics of buying a house and how to assess intangibles that were a win-win situation for the agent and me. A lot of them tried to push me to buy the first home I saw. Dont skimp or think the RedFin discount will help-- it wont. Dont try to split the commission 50/50 with your sister, mom, brother, or in-laws say its an easy way to save. It wont be, especially for an ultra-competitive market. You will lose long-term because unless those people have sold for years, they will not know how to assess correctly, and that will hurt you with maintenance and other surprise costs in the future.After I turned to Yelp, and I called 3 of the top agents in the area. Scott Price stood out because someone else I respected very much as a former colleague had given glowing reviews. He did not disappoint. Hes an amazing communicator and is the opposite of lazy. He is a real estate expert and a total geek about home construction. He can talk your ear off with details about roofs or foundations. I now can eyeball whether a neighborhood or home will likely have residents who will make the homes value go up or down. I can tell this from the sidewalk to the little detail about chimneys, the windows, the lawn, cars, parking situation, the business surrounding it, trees, and the windows conditions. I can now mentally estimate the cost of structural repairs, future maintenance costs, and whether some renovation is possible. Ive learned to ask the right questions, and my eye for real estate assessment has grown without the price of a costly mistake. I also know how to tell real original vintage Spanish tiles on a roof and how they were made (ask him). We looked at over 7 homes in person, and he taught me how to even skip this step. I almost purchased a home over 200k over what I wanted to buy. Still, he made sure I drove around the block, and we found an auto-body shop less than 100 feet away from the backyard and the master bedroom.Scott is the ultimate teacher and guru. He is an everlasting professional who owns multiple properties of his own. He can tell you with a glance whether something is up to code and ball-park how much it will cost to maintain. Dont skimp on your first house purchase. It is a significant investment. If you value your time and want to increase your own capabilities, you can do no better than Scott Price. Real estate is a long term commitment, and Scott is a long-term thinker and a person you want on your side. Dont skimp on one of the more critical decisions in your life and go with Scott Price.

I had a few neighborhoods in mind already for my first house, of which Leimert Park was one of those neighborhoods. Having lived in West LA for over a decade, this was uncharted territory for me as well as for Janice and Scott since the west side is their bread and butter. Now usually I would have gone with an agent who was more knowledgeable about the particular area I was interested in, but they thoroughly impressed me last year when they helped me sell my condo in West LA. Janice was my primary agent, and she had already proven herself to be smart, strategic, resourceful, and most importantly ready to protect my interests. I knew she could rise to the occasion, so I took a leap of faith, didnt look back, and have no regrets.It was a grueling 6-month search for my new home, but the more houses I saw, the more I got a feel for what I would compromise and what was a deal breaker. We were able to sell our condo quickly and needed to find a home fast. Janice advised that we should not rush it and that she would help us find our perfect home. In the end it did not take us too long, we found a place to call home just in time to move out of the condo and into the new home. The process of selling and buying a property is quite stressful, so I am grateful that Janice and Scott were there with us at every step. I primarily worked with Janice but both are great to work with, very buttoned up, are real with you about expectations of what youre going to get for the budget you have based on their sound and vast knowledge of the west side. I was looking for a couple of years and it has been a tough road due to the competitive nature of the market on the west side but Janice helped me navigate through it and when I got really serious about buying she was right there with me. I ask a lot of questions and am a bit neurotic (and first time home buyer) but she stayed calm for me and was responsive. Comment: Janice is the best best best real estate agent you could ever get! My family recently got green card and decided to purchase a property in LA area. This was a spontaneous decision after our status change and it was our first time purchasing a property in the states so we had no idea what to expect. Janice is really experienced and knew what we were looking for, so she helped us find many listings and went to see many open houses with us. We did lose bid on two properties before we found our final home, but i would say the house we got is the best one! We fell in love with it instantly when we went to see the open house and Janice helped us secure the contract! The escrow process was painful because we were not American citizens so we were limited to the choices of bank we could get loans from, and the bank we chose took forever to get loan approval. We were 3 weeks late on escrow and had to pay for late fees. But throughout this entire process Janice was always just a text away and very patient with all the questions I had. When I ran into problems with loan approval she helped me negotiate with the bank as well. I got the key to our house yesterday and I couldnt be happier!Janice is knowledgable, professional, and very very experienced! I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a home in LA!

Comment: Decide to purchase a property at LA around September, because of it is the first time home buyer, I have completely no idea about the whole process, check on Yelp and try to find an good agent, there are many agents online, they all have a very good ratings, but finally reach out to P+H, because they have really the most number of good review and also 5 star ratings :)Mark Mendez is the buyer agent who helps me to find the right property, he is really a nice guy, and explain me the details of every buying steps during the whole process. We went to different properties, because of the rumor that the interest rate would go up at the end of year, so I am kind of eager to get a property ASAP, luckily enough, find a property at Mar Vista, which I love it, what is amazing that they accept the offer below the asking price, which is not common in that area. what is even more amazing is that after the house inspection, the seller is only willing to offer some cash for replacing the washer and dryer, but thanks to Mark and Scott, they manage to make the seller to increase another thousand dollar, which is totally a surprise for me. After the property escrow close, he even recommends me the handyman for some of the repair.Thanks to P+H, they are really an excellent agent, I would definitely recommend them to my friends later.

I had never bought or sold anything more than a couch on craigslist, and words like appraisal, APR, escrow and FHA might as well have been Arabic. Comment: SCOTT is A-MAZING!!!! I am a recent college graduate, relocating from Massachusetts to the LA area. I was seeking to rent an affordable apartment for myself only. I knew there was a TON of competition for reasonably priced rentals, and because of the amazing yelp reviews for Price and Hou Associates, I decided to send them an email to see if they had any advice for me as I searched for an apartment. I honestly did not expect them to get back to me considering I wasn’t looking at buying a home (which I would totally understand of course!).However, about 30 minutes after I emailed, Scott answered me right away with additional questions about the areas I was looking to rent in, and my price range, so that he could steer me in the right direction. I felt that was SO nice already, and then he went ABOVE and beyond that by calling me and really making sure that I was prepared to start my search! He told me every piece of advice that he would give to his sister or a friend if they were trying to relocate (SO nice, and again, I’ve never met him nor am I interested in buying a home!). Scott truly cared and was looking out for my best interest.Without Scott’s advice, I would not have been nearly as prepared to find an apartment. He made sure I was up to date on all of the local rental websites, that I had my paperwork ready to go for each visit, and what I should be prepared for. He also stated that if anything didn’t seem ‘right’ or if an apartment was questionable, that I could let him know the situation before going through with anything, so that I didn’t enter into a bad agreement or living situation. Without his help, I believe my apartment search would have been incredibly difficult and frustrating. I am so happy my search is over now and I really owe that to SCOTT!! He is the BEST.
