Comment: I’ve gone to Shannon Automotive at the recommendation of Folsom locals. I had my brake rotors resurfaced and also had a whole list of recommended services that needed to be done. When I asked about how urgent any of these items were, they told me nothing needed to done today (the brakes were the exception), but plan to do them over the next 4-6 months. The tune up was the most expensive, followed by brake fluid change, transmission fluid change and a few other smaller items.I scheduled my service for today 12/4 and got a couple of texts in the morning…one for a small discount on labor if I came in before 8am. Then later I got on me for 20% off. Since my car was already being worked on, i asked if they would honor the discount and they replied, well that only seems fair!I feel good about coming here, each of the service techs has been very communicative and help me understand what needs to be done, and they don’t mansplain to me!They also said my car is running great and will be in good shape when I go to sell it in another year :-)

Comment: We bring 3 high-mileage cars here for maintenance. They are very thorough in documenting what needs to be done and will explain what is urgent and what can be deferred. This was especially true for a used vehicle I picked up that needed a bunch of maintenance to bring it up to date. They have a fleet of loaner cars which makes the service process much easier. Even though I work up the street I can be much more flexible in when I drop off and pick up. They also offer good warranty on their work. And had a noise that was coming from the engine periodically and of course it wasn’t doing the noise when I brought it in. But the mechanic was able to find out what was causing the noise. They fixed the problem, which was my alternator change the fluids and I was on my way. Will definitely be coming back with my other cars for routine maintenance or whatever problems I have.

Comment: SHANNON FAMILY AUTOMOTIVE HONESTY AND TRUStWORTHINESSI used Shannon Family Automotive for the first time in December last year for a regular service on my Toyota Camry Hybrid after hearing some good words about their service so I wanted to prove it to myself about their honesty and trustworthiness. Their actual expertise is on Japanese cars especially Toyota and Honda but I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi that has only 41k miles because it is basically just our weekend vehicle. It has a bad leak on the power steering and it needed an oil change so I called Scott, one of their service adviser that I worked ( a super nice guy) with and I asked him if he can have it fixed and I was delighted when he said yes. I told him that there is no rush because I hardly drive that truck, he was happy because they were a kind of booked that day and he was going to call me about the repair later but he never did.THE PROOF OF THEIR TRUST AND HONESTYI received a message on my phone from Scott on the following day that my truck is ready and the power steering issue is not a big deal which is surprise. So when I came to pick it up and pay the bill it only showed the charges for oil change and he told me that they only have to replace a hose clamp. So asked why he is not charging me for it and he said it is not a big deal? This just show how honest and trustworthy Shannon family automotive’s employees are, Scott in particular who just proved it to me and I have a feeling that it is across the board so I highly recommend them to everyone. I never had such an amazing experience and customer service at a car repairs shop. I was so moved by their professionalism and well spoken employees that i told my wife that i almost cried because i was treated with so much respect and professionalism. They did amazing job on my car and they walked me through every detail of the work that they did and they need to do. As well i loved their texting technology and giving me the option to approve and decline work for my car right from my phone (not being hassle or rushed). I hilly recommend them. Comment: During my latest B1 service appointment was told my battery test failed and should replace the battery. They didn’t give me the battery test results in printout. I refused it as it was only 2 years old and was still under warranty.I took the car to Folsom lake Honda and auto zone for battery test. Both of them told me the battery is in good condition.Not sure how to trust their assessments in the future.

Comment: My family and I are new to the area and we drive ALOT. We have 2 vehicles that have given us some issues over the past year. We tried so many different shops and something was always off, forgotten work, over priced costs, long wait times ect. If I could give Shannon Family Automotive more than 5 stars I would. Our family is so lucky we have a reliable go to auto body repair shop now. No more cold calling or going from shop to shop disappointed. They where fantastic from the first phone call asking about availability and pricing for my husbands GMC. We got our suv towed in and they got to work on the issues swiftly. They even helped work on costs from suppliers and passed the savings on to us. Every interaction either in person or by phone was polite, honest and friendly. I can’t recommend Shannon family automotive enough!

Comment: I agree with the recent feedback on Shannon’s - it’s become over priced, they have become aggressive with upselling services and service quality has declined. This shop use to have a home town family owned feel. I had lots of trust in them and prices use to be less than the dealerships. My last couple visits have been questionable and uneasy for me.- They were recommending service on items not even near OEM schedules (like spark plugs at less than 75% of life).- Brake service priced at $500 per axle (this did not include new rotors, just the resurfacing). I asked about the ~$300 brake service coupon they offer, but was told that’s only for “basic service” :( …and you’re pinned in at this point because they are charging for the diagnosis if you don’t buy the service.- And the last transmission service I had left a puddle of trans fluid on my garage floor because the drain plug wasn’t installed correctly - which they corrected - just a hassle to go back.I never thought I’d say this, but I can’t recommend Shannon’s any longer. I miss the home town feel this shop use to have…

They gave me a quote of $1450 which includes maintenance (as in engine filter n oil change, tires r not included)n break rotor replacement ($750)Honda quoted me around $450 vs Shannon quoted $750 (way overly priced).I negotiated with the Technician at Shannon to $540 n fixed at Shannon as I had no choice of fixing it (else I would pay $100 inspection fee at Shannon)The labor cost was 2 times the cost of the parts at Shannon.Labor for Engine air filter was $20 n labor for break Job was $250. Will never go or recommend this place.

Ended up declining and going for a second opinion to a shop that only does hybrids and they diagnosed within 15 seconds of showing up and did the work for $1600.

Comment: Shannon Family Automotive gave us a second opinion on our transmission issue with our Acura MDX. They gave us several options without pressuring us for any particular option. Once we made a decision, they did the work quickly and repaired our car. They saved us thousands of dollars and more importantly, assured us that if their fix didn’t work, they’d credit the money we already spent toward a new transmission. To sum, they’re honest, competent, and a trustworthy organization. We’ll be taking all of our auto issues to Shannon from now on.

Comment: I hate to do this review, because I’ve had good experiences with Shannon in the past. But, the past few times I’ve used them, the experience was weird and this past time, just plain bad.I won’t go so far as to say don’t use Shannon, but unlike in the past I’d say do so with caution. I came in for a 105k service (plugs, valve adjustment, timing belt, water pump - the usual). Quote came in really high. I checked on the price with the dealer - over the phone I got a quote $300 cheaper - no specials, no haggling. Keep in mind - this is an Acura dealer.I’d expect an indie mechanic to be less expensive - not more expensive. But, Shannon wasn’t able to meet the price. Still - no big deal I can respect that.When I came to pick up my car, they charged me $200 for an oil change I didn’t need and an “inspection” that resulted in a quote for services $300 more than the dealer.It is what it is - but sad to see Shannon clip repeat customers. I won’t be going back with any of the four Acura/Honda vehicles I own and that I had taken there in the past.If you do choose to use them - just be careful. They aren’t quite as friendly as they used to be.

Comment: Got the flyer coupon saying $37 for an oil change so decided to give this place a shot.Cons:1. Arrived and was told my car needs synthetic oil. The guy emphisized the synthetic oil itself cost $95 and the coupon can only give $10 off. Went online later to find out the synthetic oil cost around $20 - $30.2. Asked the guy if they can remove the stickers on my front window. Was told they dont do those stuff unless pay extra. I am fine with that, but when I got my car they removed the only sticker that has other car shops information on it and put a new sticker on my windows(I thought you guys dont do those?)3. Baker texted me to see if I wanted to change my air filters. I asked how long does it take, he responded 1/2 hours, so I said no and can I get picked up to get my car now. He said yes but it takes the same amount of time. I live 10 mins away from this place why would it take more than an hour to pick me up? Definitely not satisified with the attitude and intention there.Pros:1. If you live in the area they provides rides back and forth with friendly driver.2. Gives a good car report.3. Replaced my car key batteries for free.In conclusion, overpriced with decent work.

Comment: The front office gives off a sterile dentist office vibe. Not a bad thing but I immediately knew this place was going to charge a bit more than others. The service at the front desk was fine. Was quoted pretty high for an inspection (labor is high everywhere but compared to the shops near Riley street this place is higher). I was told my car would be ready on a certain day and that day came and went with no call from them. Next day I had to call them to find out when I could get it. Once I got it they charged over $250 more than quote (it happens, just reporting). Back in my car the radio had been reset and had an error message. they use texts to communicate so I texted them for help and they responded once with a question then straight up ignored me. I also was missing my coolant overflow cap which I had to buy for $14 from OReilly after spending a nice chunk of change. The actual work done seems very quality and car is running great. The diagnostic report is also very nice and professional.

I told them to check everything, and that they did!After they did a very thorough inspection of my vehicle, they sent me a complete online report that included pictures and descriptions of each of the potential issues they found. They also provided a detailed estimate for the repair of each item.Before they proceeded with any work, they discussed with me the items they felt were priority items vs. items that could potentially be dealt with at a later date. I never felt pressured to repair anything and I really appreciated that.Although the work took several days to complete, I felt the time was appropriate for the amount of work I was having done.My 4Runner is running better than it has in years now. While waiting Ive witnessed the true integrity and character of the owner, and his employees that shines through in all they do. From the very moment I arrived I was treated with respect even while making noises that were similar to that of my car engine. Larry then sent a technician on a ride along to help diagnose the problem. We chatted about homes, family, and cars while Jeremy listened for the issue. When I returned to the lobby the owner was incredibly present with each of the several individuals who came to him for help with their cars. I was in awe of how relational he was while managing a business, a team, and diagnosing their technical problems. As I was just using their wifi, and drinking a free coffee from their Keurig I heard one of the employees kids run in saying, Hi, daddy. They greeted their daughter warmly and gave them a job while continuing to work on their task at hand. Somehow theyve been able to incorporate their family, their expertise, and the customers into one vision. Ive been coming here for several years for repairs and have been consistently pleased with how well their care for my car and am always impressed with the reasonable cost. Today, I am overwhelmed with the integrity, customer service, respect, and family they offer to all people as they repair cars with excellence. Inspects the vehicle and then works within your budget to get the most done on your car as possible. Not pushy whatsoever but does educate you on the severity of the recommendations. Comment: I took a chance on this shop based on their rating on Google. I received a quote over the phone to replace my radiator and they charged me 50 dollars less than my quote when all was said and done. This price was 500 dollars less than Jiffy lube quoted me. They were quick too. I brought the car in at 1030 am without an appointment and they were done with it by 400 pm just in time to go to work. I highly recommend you check them out

Comment: Had my car towed there after I discovered that a local oil change shop had not tightened the drain cap after an oil change. All of the oil had spilled out in my garage and on my driveway. Larry performed a thorough service on our 2001 Toyota Landcruiser: everything from the basic oil change & changing out belts, a sparkplug or two (I think) & some brake work (all which wed been expecting to have to do from our former mechanics advice). Not only did he have the vehicle done in a day, but early. Its now purring nicely. Larry also took the time to show me some interesting (though basic) engine components Id never examined before. Both my husband and I are extremely impressed. Larrys shop is immaculate, and the care he takes with vehicles is obvious. Its worth the drive from south of Hwy 50 in EDH.

Comment: Shannon Family Automotive is honest and has fantastic service! I took my 2001 civic to Folsom Lake Honda because my heater stopped blowing hot and there was a rattle in my engine. I was quoted $3000 for a blown head gasket, leaking water pump, spark plugs, etc., and they suggested the rattle was possibly an axle. The dealership was asking how much money I really wanted to put into my old car and the technician was interested in buying it if I wanted to sell. Something about that didnt feel right, so I decided to look for another mechanic. After reading such great reviews online about Shannon Family Automotive, I brought my car in for a second opinion and they discovered that my head gasket was fine, the problem was that the tube from my radiator to my overflow tank was disconnected. They also discovered that the rattle was a loose bolt on my alternator. They took care of the maintenance work that needed done and had my car running great again for $790! Im now a devoted customer!

Comment: Based on positive Google and Yelp reviews, I decided to use Shannon for work on my Tacoma. I normally do my own repairs and maintenance, but some tasks are beyond my expertise.I couldnt be happier. Ive been looking for a competent and honest mechanic since we moved to Folsom about 3 years ago, and Ive found one. Ill stick with Larry for anything that I cant handle for my truck and my wifes Lexus. When I dropped the truck off, I was given a very professional-looking, complete, computer-printed estimate.They came in UNDER THE ESTIMATE, for a fairly complex 2-day job. In addition, I asked Larry to check a noise I thought was coming from the power steering pump, just to diagnose and not repair. I figured Id do the repair myself and save some money. Well, he found the problem, and fixed it, AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE (repair was not trivial). My truck was ready before I expected.BTW, they have moved to the next-door building and now have twice the space. Address has also slightly changed to 1143 Sibley.

Comment: So, I went and bought this crappy used car. You know, got all excited and quit thinking. DOH! Car needed lots of work, found this place. They did some initial work, all for a reasonable rate. Car had more problems, lots more. They helped me sort through it all and only charged me a fraction. I cant even express how refreshing this experience was. They genuinely tried to help me, even to their own detriment. It was a very good Experience. Larry and Robert are excellent. Im not a mechanic so I cant really speak as to how knowledgable they are or how good their work is, but by what I do know, I am very very pleased. I would recommend this place to any dealership. They specialize in Hondas and Toyotas. I would bring yours there. And if you go to buy a used one, bring it to them FIRST. Great shop.

Unfortunately, my vehicle required extensive, costly repairs. I respected they did not push the repairs and suggested I really think about retiring my vehicle.
