I went here with my family for supper on a Saturday night. We were impressed with the menu going in, and the seemingly reasonable prices. The service was kind and attentive, but never in the way. However, our mood soured when the food arrived.I had ordered a portobello sandwich, with a side salad. The sandwich was decent in size, but nothing that justified the $12 price. The buns were toasted, but hasnt been nearly enough, leaving them to become mushy after only a few minutes thanks to the moist sandwich contents. The burger tasted rather bland, and it was difficult to make out any of the other toppings thanks to the overpowering taste of the onions (there was about twice the ideal quantity of onions in the sandwich).The $5.50 side salad wasnt any less disappointing. The greens seemed like they were at least a couple days old, but it didnt matter much because there were hardly any. The carrots, tomato, and onions were good, and the Italian dressing was good. With all these toppings, a salad must have enough leaves, which sadly wasnt the case here.My family wasnt free of disappointment, either. My mother ordered a meatloaf dinner, but a mix-up in the kitchen ended up with her first being served a meatloaf sandwich, a much different meal. This mistake, once realized, was corrected within minutes, and I obliged when she offered me a bite. (Shes always had a small appetite.) The meat was good, but the sauce was far saltier than necessary. A number of people in our party ordered three house salad, after the server used her hands to indicate that it would be very large. From the feature, it would have been enough to fill to adults. When it came out to be only slightly larger than twice the side salad, we were not impressed.Still, the atmosphere was nice, and the food was mostly good. Id return if there was no better choice, but there are better options nearby.Service was a 4/5, the atmosphere was 4/5, food was a 2/5, and prices were atrocious. The food is what I went there for, so it was disappointing that it didnt live up to what we were expecting with what we paid.
We come to Michigan every year and stay at Shanty Creek, it would not be the same experience if we didn’t eat at the River Bistro! Good food, great service and smiling faces! Mangers even came to our table to make sure we had a great experience, we appreciate that, shows that they truly care!
Great food!! Love the Truffle Fries! There are so many good items on this menu. I have been here a lot and will continue to come try different things. The atmosphere is great and a fun place to be.
Glad to have a restaurant within our hotel. However the food is average and prices are too high. Great place to get drinks! I would recommend to pack meals or get a room with a kitchen tho. Staff is always wonderful - keep It up guys!
We live in the area and have been there several times. We have always been happy with the food, drinks and price. Truffle fries are the best around. Staff have always been remarkable and have gone above and beyond. Best place to eat on property.
The food and views were fantastic. Service was great too. The food and drink selection was great. Weve been coming to Shanty Creek Resorts for years, but hadnt ever eaten here. We will be back.
This place has the worst food and slowest service. By all means, If you want to spend $15 on a frozen Costco meal you can heat up yourself, then this is the place for you.The pinapple in their Pinapple Pops were so old and acidic it burned my innards, let alone my soul, the moment it hit my gut.My favorite part of the whole meal was when my buddy ordered his $4 coffee and it was brought out cold and in a styrofoam cup....classy.The only reason I gave this review one star is because there isn’t an option to give it a zero.You’re better off traping and hunting a squirl on the mountain side and cooking it for dinner than going to this restaurant

Came here to shoot pool and enjoy some drinks on a slow night. The place was trashed when we came in and didn’t get much cleaner over the hour and a half we spent there. And I mean trashed, like a Chuck E Cheese, garabage and bits of food littered all over the floor, tables weren’t bussed, crumbs and wadded up straw wrappers spread across the bar and no one seemed to care. Employees would rather twiddle their thumbs and roll civil wear than lift a booger flickin finger to clean anything.. menu items including drinks were all over priced, and heard kitchen staff is on meth...Other than being a decent place to shoot pool, if you bring your own chalk and can find a straight cue stick, the place is a total and complete disaster!! SAD!
There were very few people in the restaurant and they still took forever. Messed up our order and didn’t come to check on us for over 45 minutes. Very disappointed. Food had ver little flavor and was decently expensive. Go to the Lakeview Restaurant in Summit village next time.
It was nice having a restaurant within our hotel. However, the prices are far too high for average to below average food that is served. Staff is nice though!
Horrible services waited over an 1hr for food and it wasnt busy at all. The worst waiter ever slower than molasses in winter. Food was tasty so im giving 3 stars.
This is a cafeteria type restaurant. The description doesnt say that. You go up to the bar and order off a screen and they bring it to you. We thought it would be a real restaurant. We left.

2021-08-06We went here for dinner after checking into Cedar Village and we’re pleasantly surprised. The food and service was great despite being petty empty when we she tried there for an early dinner.

2022-03-24Bit pricey because its part of the ski resort, but service is always great and drinks are always good. I havent tried eating here yet. Im usually just stopping for a drink to warm up and you can ski over a bridge to get here from the hill and ski right back to the lift!

2021-02-20The pickles were less than adequate. About 3/10 on the standard pickle scale. Extremely disappointed, because I heard good thing about the pickles. All pickle lovers, I don’t recommend sucking on these pickle.

2021-08-03We had a girls trip up to Shanty Creek. We decided to play the TopGolf Simulator and enjoy dinner here. The place was dead (on a Monday) - one waitress/bartender. Carleen was a great bartender/server though!! Food was wonderful too. It kind of sucked we only got to play for one hour in the simulator even though, as mentioned, the place was like a ghost town.

2019-09-16At the beginning of the year, the food was always fresh tasting and just perfect. As the season has started to wind down. I find more and more of the food I order is over or under cooked. Burgers seem like they get recycled through the day, outside like leather and inside still cold. Yet it just came from the kitchen. Its sad to see something go from great service to service thats worse than fast food chains.

2020-03-07Dont bother with this place. Takes forever, overpriced for lots fried stuff. Sandwiches are small for the price. Not worth it. Youre a Captive audience if staying here and they exploit it.Just order a pizza and eat it in your room. Will be cheaper than 2 people eating at the restaurant and probably more satisfying.

2020-03-07Food was fine but the service was not good. We never were asked if we needed any refills on drinks (and we did). The waitress was MIA after the food was brought out. I tried to flag her down three times and she wouldnt even look our way and it was not busy. The place was empty. I politely asked someone at the bar to ask her if she could please bring the check and someone else did finally. She never came back to our table.
