I told them I lost my job and couldnt donate any more. They billed me twice after that. That is cruel. If this isnt resolved, this review stays up. Quit stealing my money. I thought I was perfectly clear.

Its okay because the food is usually ok. And they used to make it easy to get identification, but now its harder. And also for Ann Arbor the shelter is small and there is a waiting list to get in there.... Yes a waiting list for a emergency shelter. This is only addressing a small fraction of the homeless population. Ann Arbors has so much help for housing they just need a 300% larger shelter that is a immediate emergency shelter. All they would have to do is separate individuals based on behavior factors and keep control without losing the mission.

The shelter provides a safe, clean place to stay when life leaves you homeless. They also have health services and are a great resource center. There are free meals for anyone at Noon and 5 pm on weekdays and 3 pm on weekends.

The staff actually cares. All the social workers actually do work. The food is tasty and nutritious. The beds are comfortable. They help with bus tokens. Theres a Narcotics Anonymous mtg here on Sundays. Many of the staff are in recovery and can connect you with others in the recovering community. The AAATA bus comes right to the front door. This was the last house in the block, so to speak, for me and its helped me get my life back!!

LOL, to all the fake people who act as if they care. We never got into any shelters in the Washtenaw county area. They were supposedly all full. I didnt even get a call back from this one. Cold is spending thirty plus nights in a car. Thank God I had one. All of Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti should feel ashamed. All the donations Im sure that are given to help homelessness obviously isnt being spent for that purpose. I guess its better spent on employing people. Praying one day God will position me to do more than these so called agencies did for me.

To be honest there isnt much upside to the delonis center. The staff is rude and unfriendly with the exception of one person. They will tell you if you want a bed you need to call a phone number to get regestered and come back before they open. The problem with that is they never have any beds. So all they are doing is getting your hopes up. Staff plays favorites and are friendly and helpful to Some, rude and nasty to others. When they tell you they have no beds, dont bother asking what youre supposed to do, because they will tell you that they dont know. Somebody who knows what they are doing needs to take over and fix this place. For the staff to imply theres a bed when there really isnt is wrong, youre giving false hope to people who pretty Mich have no hope. To not have any idea what to do when there are no beds, is unacceptable. The only bright side is the food is ok and of youre registered you can take a shower. Otherwise if youre homeless in Ann arbor, just leave and go someplace else because youll have better luck

Most of the positive reviews on this page are about the kitchen that is run by Food Gatherers. Food Gatherers is where most of the volunteer work is done. The actual Shelter Association (a seperate entity) is pure trash. There are maybe one or two staff members that are polite and the rest play juvenile games with the consumers as they call them (not making this up). The other reviewers that had obviously used services at the Shelter Association (not Food Gatherers) are not lying when they say staff plays favorites and I had an almost identical experience as the reviewer Sheila did, with staff taking a known pathological liars word over mine which resulted in me being exited from the winter rotation program a week before Christmas. The man told them that I had been using my cell phone after bedtime (again, not making this up) and this was apparently enough reason for them to exit me in the middle of one of the coldest Michigan winters on record. Any attempt to appeal or complain about staff abuse is met with an almost militaristic response, where the appeal board sit around a desk basically mean mugging you the entire time, and as far as I could tell problems were very rarely resolved or even considered. The only way I can describe this place is dystopic and completely mismanaged.

When in need I highly recommend you go to the Delonis.Once, the staff sees youre serious about improving your situation, they become even more serious about aiding you. Traci is my case manager. Shes the best!!Please keep in mind, there are both good and bad staff where ever you may go.

They are doing a very tough job in an amazing way. They always need more volunteers. Please do join in and help the community. Call and ask them how you can help out with their kitchen shifts.
