Slow place and highly unorganised.Avoid at all cost. I had appointment at 9am. They call me at 7:30am and unload at 2:30pm. Took 7hr to unload.
In my 39 yrs of trucking food Ive been to just about every food distributor in Detroit ..and Sherwood is remotely the WORST .they lie to shippers and can never get a truck unloaded on time ..Ive delivered to them in the old place over off mcnickles in the 80s and they were the same .39 yrs they havent changed their practice of lieing .....update :. I had to threaten to leave and take my load ( within legal boundarys ) to get unloaded .I was the second truck after 4 1)2 hours to leave facility . I will deadhead my truck b4 I ever reload for Sherwoods ..
Checked in at guard shack and handed over paperwork 24 hours before appt time. On-site overnight parking with bathroom facilities at guard shack. I was called two hours before my appt time and given a door. Break your seal, back into door and wait in your truck for phone call before bringing in your lumper fee to the cashier located beyond door number one. The whole process took about three hours from the first phone call. If necessary, you can park on-site after unloading near guard shack until youre ready to leave.
Attitude and self-righteous awaits you at entry to this facility to unload.. 30% of their parking/staging area is dangerous and could blow a tire easily potentially killing a driver if they walked in front of where it was blowing :(

Super slow to load you. Definitely not recommend to come get load here unless you have enough hours. Minimum 8 hours waiting to load you.
Very slow place , 4 pallets and stil not unloaded !! Being here for 3 hours and not even a move on the trailer yet
Sherwood takes minimal 5 to 6 ours on a regular. Oftentimes the guards are somewhat rude. They have overnight parking, which is great, but in my personal experience this has never resulted in being unloaded early. I arrived at 01:30 for a 7:00 appointment. Didn’t get a dock until 08:00 and have been unloaded since around 11:00 with no call. I’ve already missed good $$$ on the DAT because I can’t commit to a pickup time. If your getting paid by the hour then have a ball over here but for us owner operators STAY AWAY !!!! This place will cost you more money then whatever your load pays. Other then that refer the broker to this post and charge them for 2 days work. Either they need to pay more or get the dam trucks unloaded and get us our paperwork so we can make a living!!!!
AVOID this place we have been in the place for a delivery 24 hours and they still do not give us a door I think we will return with the load back, it is too disrespectful DO NOT COME HERE besides a parking lot at night full of holes that could break your truck
Appointment for 6am,Ive checked in at 5:25am and got door immediately,paperwork in hand at 7:45am. Its either you unload yourself or pay lumper. My lumper fee was $240 for truckload chicken check or cash only NO CARDS.

There was parking available for semi trucks if you have a delivery for them. Restrooms are behind the gate shack. People who helped at the receiving office can use more costumer service skills. Lumper fees can be very high. From $200 and up.
They have great products. Problem is can’t get a hold of anyone in office and if you do, they are very rude for no apparent reason. Worst off all the orders come at 6:30pm everytime when all my other vendors come in the mornings like a real company is supposed to. Problem with that is all the workers go home by than and its all products that need to be refrigerated which ofcourse I can not leave for the next day. ANOTHER problem is that when I do get the orders, its takes 45 minutes at least for the driver to unload and at least half the at stuff is out of stock. Worst vendor I have ever dealt with. Save yourself the stress and pay the extra dollar and order from Lipari…. Your much better off.
OVERNIGHT PARKING!!!Watch out for Grand Canyon sized potholes though... Lumper fee was $240 which aint bad and the unloading time was average so not a bad place but definitely easy to get to its right off I-96I
Driver Backed into My Daughters Auto while She was attending Her Grand Mother Funeral..and Added Emotional stress. Police came out to Investigate Scene, He gave The Truck Driver a Ticket for the Accident. The Driver said Sherwood would get in touch with us Concerning This Matter, That was in Nov/2021...Still havent heard from The Driver or The Trucking Company! We will seek Legal Avenues asap. You cant just Damage Property or cause Distress without taking any Responsibility.
Be prepared to get yelled at by security and treated like a little kid very rude... They also want you to wear a mask still 2022
Overnite parking. The stage lot has a lot of big holes so take I slow. I got called for a door at 5:39am appointment is at 7:15 been in the dock for just under 3 hrs now with a green light waiting on call for paperwork my lumper fee was $240. My rider died I think. All in all not a horrible place to unload. I don’t get why people leave such bad reviews your a reefer driver have patients or plan better.

Just another food service company. $240 bucks for 650 boxes of beef. Like the other reviews said watch that staging lot cuz dang it the holes are bad. Checked in at 7am for an 8am appointment... got called to the door at 9am and left at 3pm :-/
Ive been here a few times and its a pretty nice place to deliver. Overnight parking for Drivers who are making deliveries. If checking in the night before, check in with the guard, give them your paperwork and phone number and they will call you in the morning with your door number and your lumper fee. Lfs are pretty reasonable aa well. If youre there Overnight, you might get unloaded early.
Very nice young lady at the guard gate. Arrived 45 minutes before my appt. and given a door to unload immediately. Took less than an hour. Lumper fee was reasonable. Needed to get a quick nap before heading to my next destination, they have overnight parking within the facility and restroom at the gate. I was told to park as long as I needed.

Had a 10:00 am appointment got here at08:00 waited 6 hrs they call me and told me to call dispatch that they will not be able to unload me today. Now 24 hrs later still waiting on them to unload me. No body wants to work….
I would give 0 stars if I could. The lady guard is rude and hateful. She does not tell you what you need to do. Like where to park or check in. Then you park out of the way just for the yard dog to tell you that you cant park here. Ok thats fine but let us know where to park....
You need to work on your delivery flexibility. I am a delivering carriers that has hauled meat here for over a year almost every week. I have never been late until this week and this was caused by YOUR supplier, not me. However I arrived day of delivery before 2 pm and was made to wait until morning to unload. This has caused me to miss a valuable load back to my hometown. One would think that since we trickers are doing our part perhaps others would be likely to exercise some flexibility as well. I guess that is just too much to ask. So good luck. I wont be back.

Danyelle “Supervisor” at security guard gate is the rudest person I have ever met. I was professional and polite, I would expect the same demeanor. She was anything but professional.
The lady at the guard shack was super nice. The lady inside the driver check wasnt so nice. She didnt even make eye contact with me. Parking and docking was good, but the best part of this place is the nice gal in the guard shack.
I worked for these guys as an outside trucker.The equipment is decent, and the shifts are of an okay length.A lot of the fiddly Union rules apply, because it is a union place.Not a difficult trucking job.
Slightly rude, but pretty efficient. They gave me the door right after arriving, started to unload immediately. The lot is just huge, no problem with baking at all. No parking before the gates, but inside you can stay for awhile.
Everyone I had to deal with was friendly and professional plus they have overnight truck parking. Arrived 2315 for 0715 delivery appt. Called around 0500 with door information and lumper fee, empty around 0830 and allowed to park on lot until 1200 when I was ready to leave for next pick up. Actual rest room available for drivers at back of guardshack. Great place to deliver.
Extremely nice security guards. I checked in the evening before my appointment and was called 20 minutes before my appointment time they took about an hour to unload me and there is parking on premises so I was allowed to park there until my next drop off time.
By far hands down the rudest people Ive ever meant. I ask the guard for wire cutters because bolt cutters were not working. Rudely told me no that I have to go to driver check in. I just brushed it off whatever, then I get to driver check in the girl there was rude I said I need wire cutters told here bolt cutters were not working. Rolled her eyes then sends me to the next window. If you hate your job which clearly these people do. Please leave and let someone else do your job. Us drivers deal with bull all day on the road and we reallydont want to deal with yours. Treat us with respect youll get respect.

This is the worst place Ive been in 30 years of driving and delivering product to. They are very disrespectful and over charge on the unloading fees. They treat their workers like children . They tries to make you feel less than a human being.
I dont know what all the fuss is about?? I checked in VERY early for my appointment. They allow overnight parking. They will have you back up to an unused dock. They have a private restroom for OTR drivers. They started unloading me right when my appointment time was. After they were finished, get your paperwork back and leave. I dont have any complaints about this place. Please and thank you will go a long way. It never hurts to be professional!I would gladly come back here again!
Worst company that I ever delivered for...very rude and unprofessional staff..they robbed me of my detention got in for my 6am delivery and did not leave until 1225pm ...and refuse to pay my detention...the female guard out front worst human I have ever interacted with....I WILL NEVER DELIVER HERE AGAIN....drivers be aware.
I had a nice experience with them. Came in at 12:00 last night, they took my paperwork and showed me where to park. They called me in the mornig with a dock nr. Around 9:00 in the mornig i was empty. 👍

Im here every week.... best place I goto hands down. I get there every Tuesday night around 10 to midnight. Check in with guard, give appointment time, they call u when ur door is open most of the time about 5am with ur lumper fee... my app is at 6 and normally out by 7 to 8. Back into your Door go back to bed and they call u when everything is done to come get paper work. So no waiting and wondering.
This place is ridiculous got a dock from guard turned in Paperwork and buy the time I walked back had a red light 9 pallets offloaded in less than an hour with green light. 3 hours later still waiting for Paperwork.
The guard was super sweet and there is over night parking but the unload time is a joke, over been empty for over an hour and still dont have my paperwork, Ive been in the dock for 3 hours now and counting.

Sherwood Food is not open the general public or at least it appears that way to me. I visited today strictly on a work basis. As for as truck drivers are concerned, it was typical truck stuff. They call on the phone now instead of the CB and tell what door to back into a call when you are done. Average is how I would rate my experience there.
Lady at the gate was sweet but the people inside dont seem to be people friendly.
Paid them $220 for the lumper. Went back in to get my bills and was told i owed $220. When i told them i had paid and showed them my receipt, they took my receipt and told me i owed $220 and refused to give me back my receipt. Cost me $440 to unload there and only got a reciept for $220. Police told me it was a civil issue. Caution!

This place is the worst place ever. My appointment was at 6am and called me at 930 am to go to a door. Opened my doors and waited to 330 pm tell they started unloading. I was hulling frozen food I think they went bad after waiting long they should not let a reefer opened more then half and hour that is wrong if u are a customer dont by food from this place.
First time delivery to Sherwood, The guard shack lady is extremely rude and disrespectful! Very unhelpful, bad-mannered, gruff and unpolished, a rough cut around the edges. Rough uneven concrete parking lot, large potholes, n very dirty!!! Wouldn’t eat anything from this joint even for free!!

I worked here shorted my first check and is a union job but expected me to work on Easter Sunday for 11.00 a hour and I was hired in the company they make 12 hour shifts mandatory and dont want to pay you holiday pay.

Checked in with the gaurdshack and she was very pleasant then went to the driver check in window and met the meanest women I have ever encountered, highly unprofessional and rude....if this is the best the sherwood can find to represent their business or allows to represent their business then shame on them...nobody deserves to be treated the way that she is treating people and if she hates her job that much she should do sherwood, herself and the rest of us all a favor and quit. Very dissatisfied with my experience here at sherwood foods Detroit.
Sales, security and will call office staff very pleasant to deal with... The one who brought my order out on the other hand left some things to be desired, was rather impersonal and acted as if handling my order was an inconvenience... Stark contrast to the rest of the staff I dealt with.

This place is good to deliver but the security lady is having too much attitude and going to spoil your mood. Otherwise they have overnight parking and you will receive a call in the morning and get dock. Lumper fee is by cheque or cash. That black security lady is shouting on driver’s and disconnecting the call without listening to other person.
I highly do not recommend! They work very slowly. Lose half a day. 👎
Recommendation, it’s better not to take cargo here to this company, they unload for a very very long time, apoitmant at 8 finished unloading at 2 pm, you will definitely lose the next load, in a word a bad company
Very careful this place arrives at night my download was at 6 in the morning security when it arrives I checked the seal my temperature was fine in the morning download without problems the perfect temperature give me my paper without problems anything written there was something wrong when I leave the place after about 2 hours they call me that the chicken that was delivered was hot as it is possible they unload me they do not put anything on the paper and then this happens I do not know if it is a dirty move of the broker in plot with this place in truth in very bad taste very careful boy god bless you luck

2021-10-11I got a good experience here. I checked in at 9pm for a 9am appointment unload. They do have over night parking and security guard check in was nice. Got a call at 5:40am with for a dock and got my paperwork ready call at 7:40. Fast and easy. Only thing lots of huge pot holes.

2021-09-15Its absolutely wonderful that this place offers you overnight parking but the parking lot off to the right side of the guard shack, where we are supposed to park is getting absolutely horrible. Ive been coming here for years and the holes in the lot are getting dangerously bad... Its to the point where you are going to get stuck and or hurt your truck or trailer. Its already claimed the lives of several mudflaps as you can see in the photos. They do not maintain the side lot where we park. I dread seeing this place in the winter if they dont do some repairs to the lot. I got stuck last year and had to get a tow truck to come out and pull me a few feet to better ground. I couldnt get traction at all and we dont carry chains.

2022-08-23I’ll start this review with this, my experience with checking in at the Guard shack was an unpleasant one I felt she could have had a better attitude toward people because her attitude toward me was very unpleasant and I think that was very unprofessional of her what her problem is I don’t know we’ll let God deal with that. As far as getting my load unloaded and wait time the Lumper fee it was OK even the lady in the check-in office was very informative and professional. Also be careful parking in the overnight parking area it’s full of potholes and hazards.

They allow me to park for overnight parking and call me early 6.30 am for dock to delivery as my appointment was 7.00 am.In hour and half I was done from sherwood food distributor.They take only by appointment time but really quick.Washrooms are available for drivers.

2022-06-21Got there early because I had 3 stops all together on this load. One of which was to another Sherwood facility. I only had to use 3 hours of my 11 because I repowered for another driver and wasn’t far from Detroit. I sat there so long waiting, it ate into my 14-hour clock. I still had to do my second to last drop in Ohio by 1400. Got there at 0615, my appointment was for 0700, they put me on a door at 1020 and they didn’t finish unloading me until after 1400.Sales had to reschedule my appointments for my last two drops. The next one, again, the Sherwood in Ohio. Which means.. a $350 late fee. Thank God they waived the fee since it was one of their own location’s fault.The two stars is for the gate guards… They were super friendly and the only good experience out of the entire ordeal. Matter fact, they need to move one of them to the shipping and receiving office. Because the girls there were horrid. Only the second time I’ve snapped back at a shipper or receiver.
