Sidecar Slider Bar - Birmingham in other cities:
The service was okay but the nasty part was my husband bit into his burger and it was pink so he told them he wanted it well done and they put his bitten slider back on the grill where they cook everybody else food. That is the nastiest stuff I have ever seen and when I talked to the manager he justified it like it was okay
We got a few sliders and all 4 were pretty good, my fav one being the breakfast slider. The fries were the best part and we also got the Philli egg rolls and they were also pretty good. Another pro is they were spaced out nicely for being a bar and did a good job with covid policies. The cons, it wasn’t anything special, the service was fine nothing special. We sat at a table that was kinda dirty and not wiped down. Overall it was just pretty good and nothing special that’s all.
Super fun place at anytime of the day! The wait staff is excellent and their food is pretty good. The Brussel sprouts were the highlight of the meal for me. My only complaint is they are super pricey for what you get. If the sliders were out of this world amazing I wouldnt mind paying that much, but for something I could make myself at home, its a bit over the top.
It was cool, didnt like that me and my date were sat all the way in the back where it looked less classy than the front area. Then i noticed thats where the only other black person in the restaurant was sitting but maybe its cause we had on jeans 🤔. Food was straight, cocktails were good. Ill go back but Im not sitting in the back again, look like a basement compared to the front.
Usually the food is great and the staff is friendly, But today I was presented with pizza that was more like a diaper of toppings. Completely unedible and the bacon bits were more like 3 inch long pieces of steak. I wasted 17 dollars. Im not saying dont go here, but dont get bacon bits on anything if you want it to be edible.EDIT: The owner has since given me a free pizza and made everything right. I continue to come here multiple times a month and everything is still DELICIOUS.
Sliders were delicious (I had cod my son had burgers) fries meh and waitress a total zero - forgot the fries and my son wanted a refill on his soda she forgot. She wasn’t busy - she was on her phone with another waitress. No staff had masks on - probably won’t go back.
Great food. This was my first time going in the pick up my food. I usually do delivery. The food is always hot and delicious. Today I had carry out. The person who took my order said 25 minutes. It took about 50 minutes to receive my food. The staff was very attentive to me while I waited. The food however was lack luster and warm. I will dine there again because their sliders are delicious. They may have been having an off day.
The food was terrible I thought it was similar to microwave pizza. The pizza was half cooked and some of it was still frozen. However, the booths were very comfy and they social distanced well. The service was slow and I would never recommended coming here if you come and visit Birmingham. 1/2 star review
I had been looking forward to trying this place but I was kinda disappointed. The pizza was good but the service from the waitress was not. She seemed to have an attitude from the jump. Plus excessive coughing from the bar and another waitress was just coughing her brains out. Not a mask being worn by the employees. It just felt unsanitary. I will not be returning.
The food is really good and the atmosphere is fun! My husband and I went there on a Sunday afternoon and was charged $33.00 for a margarita that was mostly ice, $30.00 for a 9 ounce mimosa and $20.00 for a 6 ounce mimosa. The food was good and affordable but I would not drink there. A light lunch ended up being a $150.00 tab after tip.
Fun place to hang out; excellent bar with lots of choice. But the food is not my sorta thing:Sliders come on a blah white bread bun from some corporate food supplier (GFS or Sysco), not a local baker making something interesting. And the waffle fries (daughter insisted) of course just frozen product commodity fried onsite, but what really put me off was it was slathered in some sweet sugar-added sauce. But I would hang there again, because the bar is fun and the people fantastic: the server Josh was outstanding, as was manager Kate. I give 5 starts because I’m sure the food is right for the masses and I wish them success.
This place should honestly have 5/5 stars OH MY GOOD LORD. So me and a few buddys were looking for a place to eat my friend pulled this place on the map didnt have any kind of expectations when arriving but I thought it would be at least decent because it was in Birmingham. Let me tell you when I say the staff was one of the most knowledgeable crew Ive ever seen it was just crazy I told my server I like to smoke occasionally what kind of drink would you recommend a Indica smoker he came back I cant even remember the name of the drink but it was exactly what I expected but, to make a long review short it was just a great experience all in all food was fantastic and thats an understatement as well as it was super inexpensive new spot to eat for sure.
Sitting here currently and Blake is our server had the chicken sandwich and didn’t have maple syrup on either one, we been sitting here since 1215 and Blake didn’t come to the table once. And when she did it was 115 and we were still hungry and she said kitchen closed in an hour we could of gotten more food but that didn’t happen because Blake was slow. I get better service at hunter house down the road. Don’t come here if Blake is working slow service and the only good thing is the pierogis. Very unfortunate and poor service.
I was confused about my carry out order. I placed it through Sidecar Slider Bar, but the pickup location is at Slice (pizza) next door. There is a heated patio that was closed during my visit. Restaurants had opened and there were people seated at the bar. The inside of Slice was empty, even though the tables were socially distanced.2 am slider. 5. This is your typical Detroit style slider, only the beef patty is thick and its not steamed. Loved the extra caramelization on the onions.Breakfast slider. 5. The maple flavor was strong in the bacon. The egg yolk broke inside of the wrapper so I had to eat it fast before it got too messy.Drive thru slider. 4. Its like a mini Big Mac. I think this slider would have been better as two small thin patties.Smokehouse. 5+. I loved the bbq sauce and onion ring on top of a beef patty. The fresh jalapeños added a spicy kick.Overall, excellent sliders. They have an expansive happy hour menu worth checking out, every day from 3-6 pm.
False advertising at its finest! Showed up at 5:00 for the happy hour advertised as running 3-6 on the website. Was just told happy hour is ended and I’ve been telling my manager they need to update the website- choose to take our business elsewhere...no interest in supporting a company that lies.
Disclaimer: I will be stopping by again because judging a restaurant based on one disappointing experience isnt fair; other reviewers had a good time so Im guessing it was an off day.My friend was visiting from out of town and we decided to stop by since we both love burgers. It also wasnt particularly busy (it was Thursday) and we were hungry! We shared pretzel sticks, an order of fries, two mac sliders, and two fried chicken sliders. Everything came in a timely fashion. The mac sliders were delicious and I regret only getting one! But, our fried chicken sliders were very disappointing (dry, over-cooked, no seasoning) and I couldnt finish mine. The shoestring fries were good. Service was excellent as well. We didnt order drinks but the people at the bar all looked like they were having a good time.
Really have not at all been disappointed by the food beyond the prices. Then the chicken wings are a bit bland, or even seemingly undercooked. Beyond that, every burger Ive had there has met every expectation. Staff is 4/5 great! Really like how the kitchen is open late.I just wish everything wasnt so pricey for what it is and how little you get for it. I dont want to pay almost $40 for a few sliders, a side and a beer. Thats really excessive and is eventually going to turn me away for good.
This place was recommended by our friends at Churchill’s for late night food and it definitely exceeded my expectations! Atmosphere was awesome. Food was tasty! Our bartender Josiah was amazing. He makes great drinks and I really enjoyed the Oldschool hip hop and r&b music that was playing. We will definitely be back! Two thumbs up!!
Visited on a whim, looking for a new bar and grill. The cocktail menu was excellent and the food was better than most restaurants that dont have a bar.Our service was top-notch - Jeff is personable and funny, and a huge Star Wars fan. We happened to be wearing our SW t-shirts and he struck up a conversation that had us discussing SW between the two of us.We will be coming back for more!
GREAT service! And the sliders were amazing. Also, they remember a side of ranch when you ask for it, which says a lot (when you love ranch). Fun atmosphere and very accomodating when you want to be in front of a TV to watch a sports game! Fairly priced. Highly recommend!
Being a recently relocated GM of a very popular local eatery downtown, I had heard a bit of a buzz about this place. I went tonight at 12am. The bartender audibly sighed and rolled his eyes. I ordered a Manhattan and after asking what bourbon I preferred, basically chucked the drink at me with a thud. While attempting to enjoy my drink, the surly (at best) bartender and waitress slammed the stools on the bar. I asked if they were closing, and the bartender walked to the other end of the bar without answering. He and the waitress stood at the furthest end of the bar and stared. In the meantime, a patio table came inside several times to ask for drinks Apparently me and the three people on the patio were too much to deal with. At 1:06, the bartender basically walked by and slammed my tab on the bar. No last call, no we are closing etc. Im guessing this place survives as a late night hangout of service industry professionals in the area, but the service was garbage and the bartender and server were openly hostile. If I was the owner, I wouldnt want these two watching my goldfish, much less serving my guests. I gave one star because my cocktail was decent. This is a must avoid place in Birmingham in my opinion
The food was great, large portions, but the wait staff was rather rude. The waitress gave us dirty looks, short responses, and wasnt very helpful when we asked about the different dishes on the menu. If Im spending $50 on dinner for my girlfriend and i, I expect to be treated with a certain level of kindness. This was not a great experience for my first time being here. I dont think Ill waste my time or money on a second visit.
My boyfriend and I went here and tried them for the first time. We didnt get an appetizer. I got the fried fish slider, the turkey slider and the peanut butter, bacon, and jelly slider. My boyfriend got the fried chicken slider, the venison slider, and he also got the peanut butter, bacon, and jelly slider. The fish slider wasnt over fried and it tasted like actual fish. The turkey one was okay. We both had the same thoughts on the peanut butter, bacon, and jelly slider. We both couldnt taste the beef in it. It almost would have been better without the beef, but then it wouldnt have been a slider. We told our waitress that we both didnt care for it, and she told us that we were amongst the 15% who didnt care for it. We only had a couple bites out of it, and didnt finish the rest. We got the waffle fries, and they were pretty good. We got the large, and we should have gotten the small to split between us. Too many in the large for two people.Next time, if we go there again, well probably just get three and have one and a half each.Didnt have any ciders (or at least anything sweet). Didnt have any mixed drinks that I would have drank. Not fantastic first experience, but not bad.
My husband and me were here recently. Ordered Strawberry and blueberry mojitos along with the buffalo wings. The cocktails were not great at all. Wings were very dry. Looks like they were made long back and were just warmed up when we ordered. When we asked the waitress she told their wings are that way. We asked her cheque in 10 min from time we went in. NO COURTESY AT ALL. They charged us for all of the items even though we gave our feedback. will never go back here.
Fiar to partly cloudy , the service was slow , the bar tender lacked knowledge of the menu and what was being offered at brunch. I also had to break up her casual conversation with a coworker to ask for a menu. Even though the place was empty. The appetizer came with the meal . The food was cold and lacked flavor. We also had the pleasure of the chef using foul language as he discussed the merits of his ribs being better that the patrons next to me. Over all, an unenjoyable experience.
Food was good. We ordered ( one of their hot dogs and 3 sliders) and waited for about 20 minutes for our food; the manager came by and asked how our table was doing, told him we had been waiting a while for our food. A few minutes later, our server came out and apologized saying he forgot to put in our order but he would be taking care of the bill. Waited about another 15 minutes, then got our food. Had a few staff members check on us and apologize again.... but also never got refills on our drinks (water and coke) until we were done eating. Think our sever was having a very off day.
Impressive slider selection! This place is really fun to come to with friends or coworkers. I couldnt believe how many different types of sliders they had to choose from. I thought the prices were a little high for small hamburgers so that limited how many my friends and I got. We felt like we couldve gotten more of a meal in Birmingham somewhere else.
I was in town for the weekend and discovered this place. The food cant be beat. Went for dinner Sunday night and it was so good went again for lunch on Monday before heading back out of town. I will be back in town again in the future and looking forward to stopping here to eat again!!
Food was really great! Waited over an hour and half for Grubhub to fail delivery. Restaurant was impatient but communicative with me. Grubhub dropped the ball, but this place remade my order for it to be delivered fresh, and it was actually so freaking good!! Thx for putting up with me and for serving me such great sliders and dogs!!!
I generally like this spot, but there are not many (read no places) that will not give you two/3 min. to finish your drink. Unfortunately this is the only place in the otherwise high class service Birmingham area, where the closing manager was rude about letting the three of us finish the drinks he’d just given us. I know that a lot of service industry people come here after work, but be weary if you are not them. It was very embarrassing and uncomfortable to be forced out, as well as awkward. Other places in the area let customers finish their drink while they clean up...
Awful service. Our waitress Blake provided very poor service and did not pay attention to us. Not too mention, she was forgetful and never came to check on the table i.e. hows your meal, drink refills, etc... I had to wave the waitress down to get the check. The place is loud and it was very difficult to hear anyone, even at the table.
Great little spot for sliders in downtown Birmingham! I had the fried chicken and 9-1-1 sliders which were both delicious. The latter has a solid spicey kick that I enjoyed. I also tried the all-dressed tator tot dish and thought it was great as well. Had an awesome evening enjoying sliders on their patio with my buddies!
Very chill, trendy, dark, intimate, narrow and deep, city style bar. They have more of a gastro pub style with the many different sliders you can choose from. One I had actually had a spicy habanero remoulade, with the actual pepper on top. Oh, did it hurt so good! Great beer list, and mixed drink specials. Cool place for a first date. Standing room only on the weekend nights.
I had high hopes beccause their menu has some tasty sounding things.Fried chicken slider - raw in the middle and had gristley stuff. If cooked properly it would have been good.Smokehouse slider - this was good and cooked well. Good on the pretzel bun.Brussels sprouts - over cooked and mushy even though they are fried. Also lacking in salt.Nosferatu - not sure I spelled this right, but it was good. A little greasy. I liked the fried pickles on top.Duck fat fries - undercooked and soggy. Good if you like limp fries. Also lacking in salt. Flavor was good, just not cooked enough.Service - nice guy but didnt ask how the food was and came by once for a refill and left.Ill give this place one more shot because I think it has potential. Decent beer list with lots of IPAs. Good potential but poorly executed cooking.
Wasnt sure what to expect going in .mid day slow ,service was vety prompt. We went with the pierogies and philly steak & cheese dogs. Gotta say ,they were both awesome! You get 2 meals in 1 with the dogs and the carmelized onions with the pierogies gave it a great taste along with the spicey sour cream.. will be back
Usually I love side car but I will never return again. Their bouncer last night was completely out of line. He threw me to the ground and locked the door because I asked multiple times to stand in the doorway until my Uber came. I hope you’re proud of your employees. I’m 125lb girl and your 200+ lb bouncer hurt me. I will absolutely never ever return and I hope that bouncer loses his job
I really did not care for any of the food we ordered except for the onion rings! The chicken slider was plain awful. Wouldnt recommend this place. If your looking for specialty hot dogs check out imperial in Ferndale. If your looking for specialty sliders Public House in Ferndale.
Most horrific manager.Ive been a customer of this establishment since they opened, I even had them cater to my office luncheon. Not that there food is the best(to me), I like the variety of the menu and I favor their sides over the sliders.A few weeks ago I placed a carry out order of 2 items, it all went great. Upon picking my order(1 small chili cheese fries and 1 small order of chili and a side of Jalapenos). I get there after a few minutes he asked if did you want banana peppers or jalapenos, I told him I wanted jalapeno but Ill take both,(he brought banana and I didnt want him running back & forth). He brought out my order of a bowl of chili and and a container fries(not so warm fries at that). I informed the him that I wanted chili cheese fries and also asked for crackers for the chili. He unpleasantly informed that he repeated my order, I said okay small chili cheese fries and 1 small order of chili**Sidenote: Im on my lunch and dont have time for the back & forth. The wait was already too long (10+ minutes)especially being that I called in my order 20 minutes prior to my arrival.*He snatched my order off the counter, I was trying to tell him that he could just bring me chili/cheese he ignored me and slammed the food into the garbage can.*Sidenote: I thought to myself is he really this angry. Heck its was an easy fix wouldve been to either being me an order of chili cheese fries or just chili for the not so warm fries I received. I maintained a smile and pleasant tone.(normally Id snap crack & pop, but I needed this to go expeditiously).**He brought back the order chili cheese fries and chili and slammed it on the counter, minus the jalapenos, chili all over the outside of the Styrofoam bowl and no bag(really). I said excuse me, he ignored me and tended to other customers. When he passed me again, I said excuse me. 3 things, can I have this wiped off, theres no jalapenos and do you have crackers and he cut me off snapped and said we dont have crackers, I said okay can I have some jalapenos, He said it doesnt come with jalapenos. I said I know that is why I asked for a side of them.I said well I misunderstood you and you misunderstood me (me playing nice I took some of the blame off of him, actually I didnt misunderstand him, I was clear in my order and he repeated my order as such). He snatched my order of the counter. I said can I see the manager and abrasively said, I am the manager, I said can I see the owner, he abrasively said I am the owner. I said can I have a refund. He said you werent charged. I said you ran my card. He said your receipt is right there (showing me my signed copy for me to take). I said okay and left out. Well clearly he is a liar #1 I was charged and had to have it reversed, #2 he wasnt the owner. It took everything in me not to tell my son or my guy about my experience because they wouldve wanted to check out his customer service skills. To be treated so nasty while maintain a pleasant composure was a test of my character. That boy (NO MAN ACTS LIKE THIS)was rude and so aggressive that if I wasnt a woman that grew up in the hood, an used to ignorance and aggressiveness, then I wouldve certainly felt threatened. I even suggested to the owner that if he has a video that he could see his aggressive behavior. All for what? because he got the order wrong and wouldve been a simple fix. The manager name I forgot, It was Latin named and he was a tall solid African American male.FYI, Im giving a description for whoever frequents there they can maybe a name with a face. He is a bully, too stand over a 410 small framed woman, snatching things, standing over me and speak to me in an angry tone, had me to consider asking and attorney at work how to approach this. This might be unacceptable in the streets, however it is not acceptable in a place of business towards a consumer and a polite and patient consumer none the less.Shame on Sidecar/ Rojo for who they have to represent them.
I thought Birmingham finally had a great late night food option... However, the restaurant will not even allow you to place an order for take-out unless you physically go to the restaurant, place your order, and wait there while it is prepared. Very unfortunate as it negates the entire idea of carrying-out, and rather makes it more inconvenient for the consumer to order their food. Disappointing “policy”

2022-04-04Service was spectacular… in my humble opinion; the pizza could’ve used a little more cheese but other the that the beverages & other items we ordered were tasty a/f!!

2022-05-30Promoted pretzel buns are hard and stale! The beef patties are super dry and the fried fish and chicken were under seasoned. Why can’t this place make a delicious mustard to go on their not so cheap sliders?! The beef burger was drenched in cheap yellow mustard. It was everywhere. They could also make fresh pretzel buns in house as well that are fresh and reminiscent of an actual soft pretzel not stale grocery store buns. The wait staff is nice enough, but aloof and forgetful. I never got my drink and there wasn’t a bunch of folks dining. That should have been our sign to find a different place to eat when so many tables were empty. For its location and cost, this place needs to better.

2022-07-14Easily my favorite after work spot. Tamara specifically is hands down the best server I’ve ever had. She is super nice and hospitable and always has great recommendations whenever I need drink or food recommendations. I always tell everyone to make sure they visit this place whenever they get the chance!

2022-06-24We highly recommended going here for some sliders! We tried a few of the sliders when we came to the bar. The Dirty Bird and the Puller Pork slider were our favorites. You should try the pretzel bites and the duck strips as an appetizer if you get the chance. When its nice and warm out in the summer I recommend sitting outside on the patio. Awesome experience here 10/10

2022-05-10Highly recommended.Food and service were both good. Recommend getting a few appetizers (Brussels sprouts, duck tongue) to share for 2-3 people, then each getting 2 sliders.Everything was good and outdoor seating was cool.

2022-01-29Cool little spot in Downtown Birmingham. Drinks were pretty good. Service was good. Didn’t eat any food but accumulated over a bill in drinks. Music playing in the background 80’-low 90’s, the younger crowd was at the sister restaurant Sift (slightly smaller bar, tightly squozen, playing more current hip hop/pop.

2022-02-19I ordered from them off DoorDash - never again. I ordered a large mac and cheese that was $17.00 and received a 4oz. Container. Yes, you read that right: 17 whole dollars. Cause you know, theyre in Birmingham and can overcharge left and right.Their sliders arent even that good. Ive had better for cheaper. Just another overpriced Birmingham bar thats got little to show for itself.

2022-02-19Got DoorDash from them and it was absolutely awful. The meat was tough, the fries and tots were soggy, the buns were not brioche as advertised, and the sliders were sloppy and smashed. We couldn’t even finish the meal because it was so bad. As someone who has worked in the food industry I would be appalled to serve this to a customer. I understand take out isn’t as fresh as in the restaurant, but this meal was beyond disgusting, regardless that it was take out .
