Just moved in this weekend but have been very happy so far. Darrien made our move in so smooth. She was very helpful and responded quickly to all of my questions. The apartments are very nice and you hear little to no noise from other apartments. Would absolutely recommend to anyone.
I have been working with Donna to find a new apartment and she has been amazing! She is very helpful, gets back with me quickly and clearly, and is working hard to find me exactly what I want! These are really nice apartments and they are well taken care of by their staff.
I love this apartment complex. It is close to everything in Fenton. The ladies in the office are very helpful. The complex allows dogs and cats here. They have a small fenced-in area for the dogs to play inside the complex. They have a playground for the kids and a swimming pool. Most all of the tenants are friendly, at least the ones I have met. Rental prices are comparable to other rentals in the area. Just like any other complex it isnt perfect, but are there any perfect ones?? Thank you Matt our maintenance man and Kevin our yard maintenance for doing a wonderful job. Thank you Michelle and Donna our office ladies for everything you all do for us residents. You are all appreciated 💛 ❤.
Overall good, only issue I’ve had was a handful of mice hanging out in my laundry closet! BUT Laurie in the front office jumped right on the issue the same day I called and had maintenance staff set traps and a few days later pest control was here to find where they were coming from and to set poison out, next day maintenance staff was here to seal up any holes they were possibly coming in from. I’ve only been living here a couple weeks and i’m overall satisfied especially with the office staff and how friendly they are! Always happy to answer any questions or concerns I’ve had. I would recommend this apartment complex to anyone, especially younger people looking for a first apartment. Laurie was especially helpful walking me through the move in and leasing process!
Donna has been such a pleasure working with, quick responses and answers to even my craziest questions! It is almost a relief to know I will have such a personable and kind contact in the office for any concerns! I couldnt be more excited to move in to such a welcoming community :)
I absolutely love living here! The second I arrived, the maintenance crew was showing me around and explaining where I could find my apartment and so on. The staff, community, and town are all so welcoming and comfortable. A new dog park was just built too, which is a wonderful addition to have. I also love the access to mountain biking trails and parks. This is a great place to live :)
Donna at Silver Lake Hills is the best resident manager Ive ever worked with at an apartment complex. With covid going on I was unable to get some of my initial questions answered but Donna was extremely responsive via email and phone to get me the information I needed. The grounds here are fantastic and maintained very well. We just moved in, but everything so far has been amazing. Truly very happy we chose Silver Lake Hills and looking forward to the year ahead!
Do not live here if you care about your HEALTH!! There is no smoking policy and as someone with asthma my health has declined so badly from my downstairs neighbor who chain smokes. I’ve spent so much money on air filters and humidifiers and diffusers but I’m afraid it still seeps through. I tried complaining but there’s no policy on smoking and ironically every time I drive past the office management is outside smoking. My clothes smell like smoke, my furniture, everything is ruined. They never answer the phones, the pool has never been opened, oh and if you want a parking spot you better be home by 5:00 PM. Also make sure you fill out a 30 day vacate notice because now I’m being charged for every extra day I didn’t give the notice from my end lease date, which I find absolutely absurd.
Don’t move here if you can help it. Office door is always locked, never answer their phones, never return phone calls, takes days for maintenance to even come look at something let alone fix anything. Just all around unhappy with the service. The facility as a whole is decent, but service is extremely extremely terrible.
I would rather buy a tent and live under a bridge.Management is horrible, the front office employees are very rude, lazy any condescending.it stinks like cigarettes 24/7 because they allow smoking inside apartments with central air. They do not take issues or request seriously, they leave broken fridgerators, water heaters any stoves sitting right outside the doors for weeks at a time, and they are raising rent AGAIN!!
Every time we need something fixed or have an issue the office always responds day of. Our AC went out and our hot water heater was going bad and maintenance came right away to take care of everything. The people who run the office are always kind and easy to talk to. I would definitely recommend living here.
MOLD MOLD MOLD! Waited months for a newly renovated apartment, moved (January 2021) into what looked like a dream apartment only to for it turn into the biggest nightmare I never imagined. Two bedroom two bath. Immediately after moving in I had a broken dryer and no hot water pressure in second bathroom nor the kitchen, 8 long and patient months later, it was half fixed, master bathroom toilet was broke why the ceiling drywall was repaired because of a main drain leak and a broken hot water heater in the unit above mine. During this time I was bathing in one bathroom and having to flip my hair to wash my hair properly in the other bathroom, which contained no ceiling for two weeks. Took a month a half to get it properly replaced after the first attempt they only replaced half the ceiling leaving the rest of the ceiling resting with water on top. Hallway closet ceiling also had gallons of water leaking into the drywall, which also fell in. Master bedroom window leaked and after three repairs and complete new drywall Ceiling window pain, less then two months later mold has managed to grow through once again. Multiple household and personal items ( my deceased mothers belongings) mold growing out of control along with shoes, purses, clothing, hard surfaces that collect dust, it’s not dust it’s mold growth. The dishwasher also is growing mold. I’ve got just about every possible excuse they could give. It was the main drainpipe leak, then my father ( whose trade is building houses) explained to them that the new flooring laid out needed a vapor barrier (Styrofoam roll between concrete and flooring, the unit had carpet before) because all the excess water has no where to go besides coming up from the concrete and into my house. Talking 89% humidity according the the dehumidifier they provided me with that has cost a small fortune in my consumers bill. And the latest and greatest explanation is the trees growing next to the building are the cause of all the mold (had a guy out to do an estimate to take care of that issue in June, it’s now November and not a branch has broke). Both office and maintenance managers are unprofessional and instead of addressing any of my concerns they have simply brushed it off time and time again why my 5 year old and I are in a constant state of misery, it’s almost a guessing game as to what will mold next? The advice I was giving was to go to move and go to Georgetown. I tried my best giving this place the benefit of the doubt and gave ample time for things to not only be replaced but showed compassion because the world is upside down right now and everyone has their own personal problems outside of just work, however taking advantage of a hard working single mother trying to make a life for her child and herself. They are understaffed and clearly don’t have the resources provided to them by the real estate management agency that owns the building CAPREIT is a scam. After multiple service requests I’ve entered through the portal online they just continue to mark them as resolved when absolutely nothing has been done to prevent any new growth mold or even try and compensate for the $1000’s of dollars I’ve paid to live in a mold and insect infested building ran by scam and con artists. Save your money and run from here!
Other than all of the drywall cracks and the windows being very poor quality as far as how they are insulated it would be a great place to live other than the fact that if we need something no one can ever get ahold of the office. We will leave a message and never receive a call back and it’s been happening since we moved in even if we state that we have a maintenance issue and call during business hours. They also try to raise your rent every time you renew without updating your apartment.
For NEW apartment buyers:This place is AWESOME!My boyfriend and I recently decided to take the next step and move in together, and after months of searching for the right place (and best bang for our buck), we fell in love with Silver Lake Hills.Donna Smith in particular, was so helpful and AMAZING! She helped us every step of the way, was patient with my questions and indecisiveness and just all around helpful. We received an approval on an apartment within a day and she got back to us in a timely manner on what our next steps would be post-approval.We are so excited to live at Silver Lake Hills and cannot wait to move in!
I havent lived here very long, but so far I am loving my time at Silver Lake Hills! Donna Smith is absolutely fantastic! She went above and beyond to help answer all of my questions. During COVID, I was having complications coordinating my move with my new job and she was so patient and accommodating, and was always happy to help :) Thank you, Donna!
Worst apartment complex, especially for younger people. They will take advantage of your age and screw you. Winter snow removal is a joke. Air quality in these apartments are horrible. Some of the management staff is very kind but there are a few that could care less about their renters. Be careful when you move out they will charge you for everything they possibly can. Would not recommend wasting your money at this place.
My fiancé and I were looking for an apartment and we both have never been through the process. Donna Smith was extremely helpful through every step of the way, answered any questions we had, friendly, and very knowledgeable. Thank you Donna! We are very excited to call Silver Lake Hills our home.
I have lived here for 3 years in 3 different units and I like it a lot. The staff is always friendly and willing to help you out. If you need repairs, maintenance is pretty quick to fix it.The apartments are nice, but I wouldnt recommend the Ponemah unless you hate natural light. The Vista is my personal favorite as it has a lot of space for a decent price.
Great place to live. Wonderful maintenance. Not so good office. You will be lucky if you get ahold of someone or even get a call back. Have been waiting 2 weeks for a call back from a voice-mail left. Good luck reaching the office.Would give 5 stars except the office doesnt pick up or return calls ever.
I had multiple instances that needed attention in the kitchen. The garbage disposal started leaking in the refrigerator door broke. As well as the drain in my master bathroom he came disconnected. The fixes and Replacements were done within less than a week. The garbage disposal in the drain or fixed the day I put in the request online. The quick turnaround and service was absolutely amazing.
These apartments are horrible. The apartments have all kinds of issues. Sprinkler heads falling out , windows falling out and don’t shut, a/c units don’t work properly, the office people don’t even help you or answer your calls and reply to any messages. They do not care about their tenants. And do not help you or accommodate you in any way. I do not recommend
It has lots of closets and storage rooms. Each bedroom (up to 3) has their own bathroom. There are wooden floors, a balcony which is connected to every bedroom, and all the bedrooms are very large with large walk-in closets. The buildings do allow pets. Everything is gorgeous! I just dont like climbing stairs.
Do not live on the 2nd floor (or under anybody) at Silver Lake Hills. The walls (ceiling especially) are paper thin and you will be living on whatever the tenants schedule is above you. Every step, every bar of soap drop in the tub, every time they use the toilet, you will hear it as if you were in that same apartment. Ive been looking forward to moving out of here 1 week after moving in. All of the girls in the office, with the exception of Jessica (she was always extremely helpful), are complete bimbos and somehow never think your maintenance request is a priority. And yes, you will have many, many maintenance requests. The only positive thing I can say about Silver Lake Hills is that the location is very prime in Fenton. Take your chances on a 3rd floor unit and you may enjoy it, but I still would not recommend moving here with all the amazing loft options that are currently present in downtown Fenton.
We’ve lived here 2 years and our air conditioner has been broken since the 90 degree day we moved in. Had maintenance look at it several times with no fix. Thankfully we moved in on a special or else we’d be paying $1,250+ a month for an apartment with broken AC, broken windows, and cheap coverups/finishings. We’ve always wanted to love this place but Mcinkley and Capreit has made it pretty hard.
If I could leave 0 stars I would. First in the first months they told me they didnt add fees even though I did pay it. I paid more so I would have problems. Then they towed my car because they believed the tags were expired, they werent. They then told me that they will credit it to my next months rent (I have recorded phone calls and video where they agreed to it and told me whenever I can pay thr bill) but since the head lights (which as a honest person I told them about otherwise they wouldnt have known) didnt work they only covered half because I couldnt drive it. They told me if you have anything wrong with your car where you cant move it they will tow it. After that they asked me how much time it would take to repair the headlight, I told them a month because they keep taking money from me for here and there I told them in a month. My parents took my car the very next morning (drove it 2 hrs away no cops pulled them over, no problems at all). A few hours later they sent a tow truck after my parents left, I knew it was forbme because he left with nothing. So becareful, flat tire, cracked windshield, head lights out, etc be careful! I terminated my lease early which they told me was two months rent when they sent me the bill they add the sum of another months rent as a 30 day termination fee. So technically 3 months rent but are just hiding it as another fee. Dont move here if possible. Worst experience ever! Oh and they say you cant work on your vehicles on the property but their maintenance staff do late night car repairs there. They also walk into your apartment without permission. I gave them a time for when I was going to be there and came while I was at work.
I have been living here for 4 years and its been hit or miss as people come and go. Most recently, the main 2 ladies in the office are very curt with you, and dont look up all the facts before accusing you of things. Recently, theyve told us that silver lake is getting purchased by another company and I. CANT. WAIT. If McKinley actually cared about their residents, Id probably want to stay here for longer, but were just buying our time until we can purchase a home.
Just recently sold, no longer owned by Mckinley. Which they werent great but the new owners are outrageous. If you pay your rent via online they charge you a $30 fee. Also, they have a huge raccoon problem in the dumpsters, which caused us to be timid of going near it so we left one trash bag by it outside of it since we heard rustling and hissing. The MAINTENANCE had the audcatiy to call and harass us while at work saying we left trash outside the dumpster but refused to acknowledge their issue with a family of raccoons in the dumpster. The maintenance guy said wed have $25 for not disposing of that bag. Had to argue with management that we were NOT paying a fee because they need to take care of the issue. The new owners suck. Cant wait to leave! Couldnt believe it could get worse than mckinley, but here we are.
Terrible place to be come winter. Its almost as if residents safety doesnt matter. That last two years there snow efforts have decreased tremendously. And there company cant even Afford salt buckets for all buildings.. Kinda messed up since we are the most over charged community in fenton. And its Company pulls in over 500 Mil a year(McKinley Homepage)
Donna is a true professional and made us feel like we were the only people she was working with. The maintenance man, Brandon, is also a great reflection on the property. Service oriented and skilled. Was prompt and went beyond the work we requested. My only criticism is that the unit we were in was not an updated unit so the flooring, cabinets etc., could stand to be updated.

2022-05-13We have very much enjoyed our stay here. The community is wonderful, quiet, and peaceful. The Office Staff and Maintenance are wonderful and kind. Theyve always taken care of any Maintenance issues in a prompt manner! Kevin always makes sure the grounds are clean and safe. Brian lives below us and has always been nice and kind. One time, Brian came to our apartment to turn off a water line because of a leak. He was very helpful. The community is very pleasant and happy. Donna and Michelle, the Office Managers, also respond to calls and emails in a prompt manner. They will help you resolve any issue you might have. I highly recommend Silver Lake Hills to anyone looking to relocate to Fenton. Youll very much enjoy this quaint little town!

2022-03-03TBH these apartments are not worth the hype. My experience is speaking to their partially upgraded unit. When we first moved in, in November our heat didnt work for three days. They had to come out multiple times to figure out the problem. Just little details really dont seem cared about in general. (i.e. our dishwasher wasnt even attached to the counter when we moved in). We were in a tight spot and needed a place soon, so overall its decent, safe area, and is a roof over our heads. Just not worth the price we pay.. The office team is great though, and I have had positive experiences working with them

2021-10-29Living at Silver Lake Hills has been a great experience. Donna has been a pleasure working with from the time I first inquired about renting all the way through to the moving out process. She is always helpful and quick to respond. Any maintenance request I have had during my time here has been answered very quickly and they are always sure to make sure that whatever issue I have is resolved. The pool and workout rooms are all brand new , maintenance of the grounds is always well kept. I have enjoyed my time here at Silver Lake Hills and leave with good memories and a positive five star rating.

2022-03-10They have been amazing to work with and helping me get my apartment. Darrien went above and beyond. I dont think she will really ever know how much she truly helped me out of a bad situation. My experience here so far has, been the best one Ive ever had at an apartment and ive been apartment living for over 20 years. Theyve been truly wonderful. This is definitely the best place in Fenton to live, they genuinely care about their tenants.

2021-11-05On-site management is lazy and rude. They mark service requests as “complete” when they’ve done nothing to help. They allow people to smoke in their apartments despite the no-smoking addendum in the lease and multiple no-smoking signs outside of every building. The toxic smoke flows into neighboring apartments there’s a good chance that it will damage your belongings as it has mine. My apt smells like a bar every day. They omit certain parts of the lease (a legal binding document) as they see fit. Also, the stairs and handrails are smothered in bird feces in the spring/summer/fall. I couldn’t use the handrails and it’s impossible to step over the filth, which means it’s being tracked into the apt (gross!). Overall, this complex is very unsanitary. My windows have moisture INSIDE of the panes, which means they are cracked or unsealed. The walls and ceilings are paper thin, you can hear EVERYTHING. Finally, this place is grossly overpriced for what you get. I would HIGHLY consider other apt complexes in the area. They will likely comment below with a sympathetic response, but it’s merely to SAVE FACE. Don’t buy it. They simply don’t care about the tenants. (PS. The management company is Capreit - do your research).

2022-03-09Too many times I’ve emailed the office requesting information about the procedure of bulk trash; i.e sofa/tables /beds from tenants that are moving . I have yet to receive a response back. I believe it’s very rude to pick and choose what they want to answer. Not sure why they won’t answer the question.

2021-07-25The staff was very quick to answer my questions and very thorough with their answers. Since unable to tour with no available apartments, I was able to see videos which was nice. Beware though, certain videos of layouts only show updated apartments or only show unupdated apartments so its hard to know what youre getting without touring. Also, they are not a non-smoking community so if you prefer to not have the possibility of smells wafting in to your apartment then I advise avoiding these apartments. Unfortunately decided to not apply due to not being able to walk through an apartment before paying to apply and because of the lack of smoking policies. Dont want to move in to an apartment that smells like smoke!

2021-09-06The apartment is nothing special, but serves the purpose. As long as you dont need anything, youll have a good time, but everything changes when you need something fixed. The maintenance guys are quick, but the office is run by a few ladies that dont have a clue what they are doing. I would not recommend this complex to anyone.

2020-10-09I have had zero issues with the apartment so far! The staff here is amazing. Donna has gone above and beyond and is there for me with any questions! She answers even on her days off. I’m very appreciative! We have had no problems at all! Thankful is an understand. She has been there for me since the day I started looking, and has helped me out tremendously!
