Comment: Sixt Car Rental Review: A Cautionary TaleI recently had a deeply disappointing experience with Sixt Car Rental from June 11 to June 19. I picked up the car at San Diego Airport and returned it at San Francisco Airport, expecting a smooth rental process. However, it quickly turned into a frustrating ordeal.Upon returning the vehicle, I was shocked to see an unexpected charge on my bill. Sixt had falsely charged me an additional $567.14, which was not outlined in the rental agreement I signed. They had initially given me a discount offer at San Diego Airport for paying an additional amount of $461.84. When I raised the issue, Sixt conveniently blamed the third-party booking agent, Expedia, for the discrepancy. This was completely untrue, as Expedia had no involvement in these additional charges.Trying to resolve this issue with Sixt was an exercise in futility. Each time I called their customer service, I was met with unhelpful representatives who simply passed me around in circles without providing any resolution. It felt like they were intentionally stonewalling my attempts to get clarity and a fair resolution.In the end, I concluded that Sixt’s practices are nothing short of fraudulent. I strongly advise against renting a car from Sixt. Save yourself the headache and choose a more reputable rental company that values honesty and customer satisfaction.

Comment: Dont bother renting from SIXT at SFO. They mislead you, and try to get as much money out of you as they can.We rented a car from them and decided to return it early for a refund. We called the corporate customer service, and they told it was up to the discretion of the local manager as whether they would issue a refund. The person working there told us we would be getting a refund and to contact Expedia (because we had gone through them for the booking). In the end, they went back on their word. We had the car for only 2 weeks (out of the 5 weeks) and didnt get any money back at all.Will not be renting from this company ever again.

We rented a car from another company - one that was actually open and able to help us! - and Sixt is unwilling to refund our money, so were out $500 for a car we never saw, much less drove.

Comment: An honest review because quite frankly I was skeptical…The reviews are mixed. So I was a bit nervous going into this. We reserved a 2025 BMW Convertible. The price was fair, the car was beautiful, it made riding around California even better.They explain everything up front — including the fees associated on top of the tolls. Which was some of the bad reviews I read; it’s explained at check in.The other bad reviews were around the “damages” etc. so at check in we opted for the PEACE OF MIND coverage which basically waives the responsibility of us as the renter in the event anything happens — that in itself is worth every penny as accidents happen.Reserving, checking in, and returning was seamless.I would recommend taking photos / videos of car at pick up and drop off as your own way over covering all bases just in case, as I would at any rental company.All in all, we would absolutely rent from Sixt again. 😊Rented car at SFO5/31/24 - 6/3/24

This van was crucial for my needs and I was in a bind. I went to Sixt with no reservation and Joseph at the counter hooked me up. He even tried to find some discounts that would help take the sting out of same day rental pricing. I was so grateful that my plans weren’t ruined! The minivan was brand new and a great ride. Comment: Overall had a great experience with them. Very generous with automatic upgrade. We initially reserved for a Camry and got upgraded to RAV4 for free. Renting from SFO to LAX.The only thing was we had an issue with we found a dent (no paint damage). We just noticed.it after we went out of the garage. I dont know what happen, but I forgot to take a video and pictures before leaving garage.Anyhow, we called the service and took pictures with date and time stamps on it. After the return, we made sure the checker is aware and we got the email asking for our explaination, and we sent everything.After 3 days, I received an email that we are not going to be charge regarding it. So thankful and appreciated it. Call center service is easily to talked to.Just a reminder for everyone, dont forget to take video/picture before you leave the garage.😄Again, kudos for the service. The car is clean when we got it, full tank. No complaints. Thank you Sixt. Till my next rent with you! More power

Comment: We rented from Sixt for the very first time earlier this week in San Francisco. From the online booking to pick up and then return, we had a great first experience! Booking online was simple and straightforward. Once we got to the car rental facility (which was difficult to find from our terminal - SFOs fault.) It took less than 5 minutes to get our cat and hit the road! The vehicle itself (a VW, Toas) was ok, neither special nor bad. It drove fine and was overall comfortable. We drove it all the way up to Redwood National Park, and it handled the trip great. I unfortunately tracked a lot of debris from the forest into the flor of the car. When I went to shake out the mess, I realized there were no floor mats. I was afraid I would get a cleaning surcharge for the mess. I pointed out my mess when returning the car, and the return agent was very nice about it and said he wasnt going to note any excess mess, and it didnt look too bad to him. I was super grateful for that! It really made me like the overall experience that much better. Im glad they didnt nickel and dime me over cleaning the floor. I would definitely recommend renting from Sixt! We had a great experience.*Note to Sixt - The signage at the airport is terrible for finding out where to go for car rentals. Once we landed, there were no signs pointing out where the cat rental facility is. We had to study a couple of maps of the airport to figure it out. However, because the map still wasnt very clear, we ended up asking an employee. That employee fortunately pointed us to where we needed to go, and then we got there fine. My point in this story is that Id love to see you and the other car companies petition the airport to get signs and easy to follow directions on how to get to the car rental facility. Hopefully, they update it, and others have an easier time navigating their way around than we did.

Comment: We rented from a BMW convertible from SIXT to ride up the coast of California. We paid a premium for this car. The car was in fair condition, with mild imperfections on a 2 year old car with 25000 miles. The tires were out of balance and the brakes were not responsive and noisy.We returned the car, with a full tank of gas (filled within 2 miles of return)at the end of our trip and without any further inspections by the attendant, SIXT accepted the vehicle. When later received our report that there was body damage to the drivers side door. The car had obviously been moved from the check in location when the picture of said damage was taken. They also charged is for filling the gas tank, after we had just filled it.We refused to pay for said damage to the vehicle. SIXT Rental sent us an estimate of damages that included 23 different items to be repaired, totaling over 8 hours of labor.We refused to pay for this fraudulent claim and be held hostage by this extortionists!!They reported us to the credit bureaus, trying to damge our credit. I have filed disputes and await their findings. I will fight this in court if necessary but I want to warn consumers about this buisness and have reported them to the BBB also.IF YOU RENT FROM SIXT, BEWARE OF FRAUDULENT PRACTICES!! THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS AND WILL HOLD YOUR CREDIT RATING HOSTAGE IF YOU DONT PAY!!

Comment: Be aware this company will not care about customers at all.Unfurtunate things can happen to anyone:My flight landed behind schedule so I showed at the Sixt counter at 1:30 am (they close at 1 am). I noticed all other rental companies had people working at their desk except for Sixt.I called customer service looking for a solution and was told there was nothing they could do and I have to come back after 6 am. I requested a full refund so I could use my money to rent a car with any of the available companies that were still operating at this time and was told since I already paid in full for my reservation a refund was not an option.I was left stranded at the airport with 2 kids, no car and no alternative options available.Came back at 11 am (during operation hours) just to be treated very rudely by the guy working at the counter, he acted as if he was doing me a favor by honoring my reservation and finding a car for me ( I was still within the 24hours of my original reservation). I was assigned a smaller car than what I selected during the booking process, and told this car is in the same category so either take it or walk away with no car and no refund (this is literally what the guy said)... And for everyone wondering, YES there were 3 cars available like the one I selected during the booking but still was assigned the smaller one (I selected a GMC SUV during the reservation process, and was given a smaller VW Crossover).I emailed customer support and just received justification about hours of operation and the cars are both in the same category.No solution available during the time I was stranded with my kids at the airport for a flight delay that wasnt my fault, and no option offered during any of my complaints, no refund or reimbursement or anything at all.I wont recommend this company, just stay away from them and go with anyone else. I can guarantee you they will at least have someone available at the counter even after hours.

I took the rental car to a mall in California’s Silicon Valley to see a movie. When I got out the car was gone and I was told it was towed. I called the tow company and SIXT rent a car immediately while I had to get sn Uber back to my hotel. The Uber driver told me the towing company was known for being unethical and the driver confirmed that I was not parked in a handicap spot. Although, both companies refused to provide any pictures and continued to say I parked in a handicap spot. Now, they are claiming I owe $1,500 for the car being towed and stored over night (one night). This is absolutely outrageous. I believe the car I drove was towed because they knew from the license plate that it was a rental car. I, also, believe both companies are working together to scam people that are traveling out of state for work or leisure. SIXT continues to harass me and states that I need to call my insurance company for payment. I told them I will not do that and I noted that I’m calling the police instead. Stay away from SIXT Rent A Car!! They don’t even deserve one star, but I can’t remove it.

A great move on my part.I decided to rent a BMW X5 for our trip because of the luxury that car provides and the cost difference between it and an entry level car from another rental company was less than expected.When I arrived at the counter, it turned out they did not have any X5s. I was starting to get a little upset right up until the agent took a few extra minutes and found me a X6 that had just arrived back at the facility. She followed up with management to get the car checked in, serviced and turned around for my rental.I picked up the X6 and had the time of my life driving that car on the roads of northern California. It handled like a dream, fit 5 people comfortably with all their luggage, and got pretty good gas mileage.Win win win.I will rent with Sixt again, no doubt about it.

Got the vehicle right away. Did my own inspection found 3 scratches not noted on the contract so had to go back to the pick up area to report it to do a walk around with someone so we didn’t get charged for it when we returned the vehicle. Only thing I suggest you do before you go. Also would be great to get a bit of a tutorial before you go as the vehicle was very different than we are used to and didn’t know how to put it into drive - park - reverse etc. it took a bit to figure it out.

The people at the Sixt desk were nice and fairly helpful.We drove from SF to Napa on Christmas day to find that engine lights went on soon after we left. We opened the hood to find that the coolant was completely empty and the car was likely to overheat. Nothing was open on Christmas day but we were able to find an auto store on the 26th and refill the coolant.It is really disappointing to know that Sixt doesnt do basic checks like checking fluid before renting a car.What is most disappointing is that Ive filled out their survey and provided feedback on the experience and no ever responded.I also reached out to Customer Service to tell them about the issue and the only response I got was telling me to send in the receipt for the coolant I bought since I said the least they could do is reimburse me for that.Its unfortunate that there is no real investment in customer service and they didnt even bother to follow up on their own survey. Why should anyone fill these out if no one responds?

He told me that it would only be an extra $70. Because my reservation was for 5 days for $350, I was led to believe that my rental would now be approx. $420. Imagine the sticker shock when I got the invoice for $733!Second, the car soon began to stink of weed. Not just that someone had once smoked a joint in there weeks ago, but closer to Snoop Dogg hotboxing in the car. It was as if all the weed in San Francisco had been smoked in the car. It was stomach turning and if we did not have the windows down, I would get a headache. A bag of tobacco leaves for blunt wraps was left in the car as well- indicating the level of detail (or lack thereof) of the cleaning process.I contacted Customer Service over a week ago and, aside from an immediate automated response, I have heard nothing from Sixt.Update: after hearing nothing for over two weeks, I was given a $150 credit on my next rental.I won’t be returning to Sixt based on all the above, so the future credit is useless and missed the point.

Comment: I rented a car from Sixt for two weeks back in August 2023. I needed a larger car than I owned to transport some items up to Oregon. I literally drove the car from San Francisco to Oregon and then parked it in a garage for the two weeks and then drove back home. I know that I was not the cause of any scratchesI received a notice from Sixt that I owed $773.61 for three scratches on the right rear bumper. There was no photo evidence just a computer generated drawing. I honestly don’t know how the damage could have been done under my watch, but regardless, when I showed the drawing to my body shop person, he said he doubted it would cost more than a couple of hundred to repair the scratches. Apparently he has had other people come by asking his opinion and that this is a money making scheme for the company.So renter beware! Make sure that you take complete photos of your car before leaving the lot. I have certainly learned my lesson —and will never rent from Sixt again

I rent the car to use with my kid for her birthday, the car smell cigarette and they charged me smoke fee and special clean, and I don’t smoke. Comment: Highly recommend using Sixt at San Francisco the whole experience was easy from collecting the car and returning. We hired a bmw x5 and it was well looked after, super comfy and pretty good on fuel! Loved having the sunroof.The only downside to this vehicle is the entertainment system is a faff ie adjusting the fan speed is all on the touch screen and difficult to mess about with this whilst driving. Too many options etc.These points have nothing to do with Sixt though, they provided a well maintained car at a reasonable price and an easy system. Ive had a bad experience with previous rental car companies where there was an issue with the brakes and having to swap the car was an absolute nightmare but thankfully Sixt outshined my expectations!

I would have skipped the line using the app, but it did not work and it seemed others were having a similar issue. The reception area a/c must have been broke and was hot, sticky and stinky. The line was so slow, there were maybe 5 people ahead of us and that took over 1 1/2 hours. The lady helping us was more concerned about sneaking extra costs in than actually being helpful. Our car was pretty high miles for a rental and had a fairly loud noise when driving the whole rental time. Also the price quoted was nearly double what we ended up paying. I havent dug into all the reasons why but I did notice a charge for $15 a day for adding my wife as a possible driver, she never drove the car and the receptionist never mentioned this extra charge had I known I definitely wouldnt of done it.

We picked up the car from the SFO airport after midnight, the car had so many exisiting damages front and back on both driver and passenger sides. The number plate was also bent. There was no additional damage done to the car during the duration of our rental and when we returned the car the assistant did a 360 check of the car and let us know we’re good to go. No bad feedback was shared or papers were signed upon the return. After a week we got a damage claim suggesting there was a new scratch on the front passenger fender and they claimed we also signed the damage notification when we returned the car which is absolutely false. Pretty sure the signature has been forged since we did not sign any papers upon return let alone signing the damage claim that we were not even aware of. SIXT is fradulent, never renting from them again.

Comment: 0 ZERO STARS!!! DO NOT RENT FROM HERE! It is fraud that they charge less... We have been renting cars for over thirty years mainly from the SFO airport without any issues, except for SIXT. The first time we rented from them was in LV many years ago and upon return - they claimed that there was damage to the tire?I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and try them again because they had the best rate for the vehicle/date we needed. BIG MISTAKE!!! They have continued to play the same game with their customers. They will offer you a low rate, then after you return your car send you an email charging you for damaging their car. THEY DO THIS REPEATEDLY. Curiously, they have no record/photos of the entire car before they rent it to you. They only take pictures of the damages according to their customer service agent. How do I know that the wheels were even inspected before the rental? We took photos, but their game is to tell you that you damaged the wheels or tires because most people take pictures of the body and interior only. I have photos of the profiles of the car, but the wheels are from a distance and not close enough to dispute the $950 in damages they are pursuing for scratches?Also, the agent who helped us in line at the airport had assured us that the cc we showed her at the counter would be the cc used for the transaction. We checked and unsurprisingly the did not enter the correct one.Deceitful, unethical and someone please organize a class action lawsuit. The internet is full of the same complaints about this company. These situations cause stress and hardship on a lot of people and sadly the agent over the phone found my distress to be amusing as I heard her trying not to laugh, maybe to a fellow employee. It must be fun for them to hear this happening to people. We will never rent from you again!

Comment: I had an awesome experience with Herman. He was quick very efficient and most importantly extremely friendly.However, the guy at the counter Jover is a very deceiving individual. He asked me if I wanted insurance and I told him no yet he still added it. And when I asked him why the total was off he claimed it was fees. But after I returned the car and received my invoice I saw the insurance charge. In hindsight I shouldve reviewed it better before signing. And now they do not want to give me a refund. Comment: The girl in the front desk in San Francisco excellent. Very professional and efficient. The process of renting was perfect, very quick and simply. 45 minutes after renting I was intercepted and sorrounded by 4 police cars. The car was stolen in the police database. I was arrested and my family inside the car with the hands up following police instructions. Nightmare, simply no words after 18 hours flying to SFO and 8 hours jet lag. SIXT error was validated by the police and me and my family were liberated. The car also had a technical problem. I contacted the road assistance with a very professional response. It was necessary to change in Los Angeles airport. The process of changing was a nightmare. 2 cars offered with recognised problems by staff. A third one, older, was offered as last chance to continue my holidays. We are still waiting their contact.

When we arrived at Sixt in SFO, the staff told us that this vehicle was not available and immediately offered us an upgrade to the BMW X3 for $29.99 USD per day (totaling $419.86 USD), which we had to accept. The staff member claimed that this was the best offer they could make. Furthermore, he informed us that we would need to book additional services not available from Switzerland: Road Assistance Protection for $137.81 USD, Personal Accident Coverage for $65.66 USD, and Personal Property Coverage for $42.84 USD, plus the upgrade for $419.86 USD. In total, we had to pay $730.72 USD more than originally booked online. Thus, the rental car cost us a total of $3,003.05 USD. The staff member explained that we had to return the vehicle fully fueled, or else we would be charged $12 USD per gallon, while the normal price is approximately $5-6 USD per gallon.When we returned the rental car to Sixt in Las Vegas, you can imagine the additional costs incurred. Sixt notified us that the vehicle was only filled to 6/8, and they charged us an additional $59.99 USD, even though we had previously filled the vehicle.From start to finish, we felt ripped off by Sixt. It seems to be a system with them. Please also read other comments about it. It appears that the same scheme is always applied.

The staff at the airport were very kind and supportive. However, one staff member stationed at the exit gate was extremely rude. Instead of speaking to us, she just pointed at the sign that read, Show contract and driver’s license. When I explained that our IDs had been stolen, she mockingly repeated drivers license in a teasing tone. Few hours into the trip, we realized that one of the back’s seatbelts is not working properly. We called Sixt to report it. Since we were already about to leave SF, we could not bring back the car and we agreed to bring it back to their next office available during our trip, ie Las Vegas. Also, due to the inconvenience, the office offered us a discount at check out. Long story short, we shortened the trip and brought back the car to the Los Angeles office as we felt unsafe with this issue. The manager at LA was not aware of the discount (even though my husband confirmed it over the phone) and opened a ticket for us. We are still waiting, no answer over the phone, no answer to our emails. A shame for a “luxury” company

They left a strong impression that SIXT is all about customer service, and has one incredible group of agents ensuring customers get superlative treatment.Subhadra first helped my husband, when she found him a rental car, despite there not being one at the time of his reservation (an upgrade even). And she and Tamara helped me a week later, when I had to return an extended rental, as it needed service. Subhadras shift had ended and yet she still walked me out to the Airport garage, showed me where to go for help, and stayed to explain the situation with Tamara (that I had to exchange cars w/o a reservation). And despite its being super busy, Tamara offered me choices (I have asthma so hard to handle cleaning scents), and I found the perfect car with low mileage, no chemical scents and a bit of an upgrade.And Herman doing intake, worked with such positive energy, and helpful demeanor, that our interaction was fast, enjoyable and just fun. He even helped me transfer belongings to the new car.These three employees demonstrate SIXT is indeed a company that focuses on customer satisfaction and has well-trained employees, providing high-quality personal care and attention. When we arrived to pick up our vehicle, that specific model was not available, and the model that was available in the same class couldn’t come close to holding our luggage. We spoke with a manager, but they had no interest in actually helping us with this issue. Their focus was on getting us out the door as quickly as possible. The person at the pickup kiosk was much more helpful and listened to what we needed to get us a vehicle that would work. Comment: When I checked in online to select my vehicle they did not have the vehicle type I had reserved, and all the other options I was being offered had an up charge to the one I had reserved. So I did not choose anything and I waited until I checked in at the airport. The clerk was able to give me a vehicle that was on the same list I was offered online, without up charging me since it was not my fault they did not have the vehicle I reserved. The vehicle I ended up getting was a BMW 840i Gran Sport instead of the BMW 5 series I had reserved. I really wanted the 5 series because I am seriously considering purchasing one in the near future, and I wanted an extended test drive while on vacation with my wife to see if we liked it. Although a bit more expensive than the 5 series, it was an excellent choice because it had all of the options we are looking at in the one we want to purchase, and then some. However the vehicle had a mechanical problem where it had a pretty rough ride at highway speeds. Lots of vibrations over 40 MPH until about 80 MPH. Maybe the tires need balancing. I was driving a considerable distance form the airport and it was late, so I did not call for a replacement vehicle and just dealt with the rough ride. Unfortunately in the 840i, the rear seats did not fold down and we had a considerable amount of luggage. I ended up having to put luggage in the back seat as well as the ample trunk. This was my fault, since another option would have been the BMW X-5 SUV, which I declined because I dont like SUVs. Overall an excellent experience. And I would definitely consider again. They have premium vehicles at reasonable prices.

We rented a car from Sixt online one day prior to the rental (as it was the only option left on Expedia) and when we got there on a Wednesday afternoon, it was the only desk that barely had a line up while other car rental desks were crowded. The people at the desk were really kind and answered any questions we had. We had a free upgrade since the car we reserved was not available. We opted for insurance since San Fran is known for car break ins so we thought it would be best to stay safe. And a heads up, we had to pay a $200 deposit for security which gave us a fright for a second, but after everything was cleared up, we were on our way. The return was smooth and quick as well.

Comment: I would give 0 stars if there is an option to do so for our experience with SIXT. Our rental car got broken into on day1 of our rental and we lost 2 luggages. We were only able to drive back to SF airport for a vehicle exchange on day2. When we took the exchange vehicle, we did not realize the car did not come with a boot cover. Hence, we headed back to SF airport AGAIN on day3 (at this point we have also crossed the toll bridge a few more times than we had expected. We did not opt for the daily toll package as we were not expecting to be crossing the bridge so many times and this would mean that we had incurred additional charges just to return back to the car rental at SF airport) to request for a car with boot cover. The staff over at the counter was not empathetic of our situation at all, and even told us the car would be broken into with or without a boot cover. Worse, we were told not all SIXT rental cars come with boot covers, and we had to check the exchanged vehicle by ourselves for boot cover. We finally found one with boot cover, however, the car’s dashboard was filthy and seemed to have chocolate stains on the rim and inside the cup holders. Since having a boot cover was our priority, we took the car anyway.On the same day, the car had a flat tyre. We were in the middle of nowhere, and we could not reach help from SIXT as it was after office hours (was about 6.30pm). The so-called 24/7 customer service is a fluke as we were not able to reach any customer care officer at all. And did I mention the rental car came with no tools, no spare tyre, no puncture tyre repair kit? We were left helpless and the only number which we managed to get through was the tow service which only advised they would tow the car and nothing else. Lucky for us, we met some really nice Americans who helped us to fix the tyre with the emergency tyre puncture kit which we had to buy ourselves from the petrol kiosk, and we managed to continue our journey.This would probably be the last time we would rent from SIXT.

Comment: I found Sixt through Expedia and found them very professional and knowledgeable. They upgraded the SUV we ordered to a BMW with no extra charge. The whole experience from signing contract, car pick up and return was seamless. Will use again and will recommend to friends.

Comment: The guys running the return areas are top notch! We had an unfortunate incident within the first 6 hours of having our car and had to exchange the car and the guys there were simply amazing! Very friendly and helpful! SIXT will have my business from here forward. I do wish they had warned me not to park at fisherman’s wharf though. I might still have my luggage and wouldn’t have to pay for 2 windows on a really great car. Still a great company with great employees! FYI, don’t park anywhere near fisherman’s wharf. Second picture is what they did to the amazing BMW we rented.

Comment: I have booked a Mini Cooper, the car was new but needed to go through maintenance, for this reason I have to return the next day and replace it for another one. The process was smooth no problems on replacing the car. Car was new and in perfect condition. All employees were very friendly. Pick-up and drop off was quick and easy. Best rental experience ever!

Comment: I paid for a luxury option and chose a BMW X3 via the virtual check in option while on my flight in to SFO. Upon arriving at the counter I was told I was being upgraded, but at a cost…I declined and was instead given an Infiniti Sedan, which was not what I reserved. The car was covered with paint circles highlighting damage areas. I can understand highlighting the damage areas to take photos, but they should’ve been removed before handing off the rental to a customer, a luxury rental for that matter. The service from the employees on site was good, but the company clearly has some kinks to iron out at a process level. I will choose to pay more for a more reputable renter in the future.

Comment: This was the easiest process to rent a car. It was during covid so the contact less returning process was a plus. Friendly costumer service at the front desk. Of course they try to sell u upgrades but we just simply refused. I went through Priceline bought their insurance plus whatever I already had on my personal car insurance. Overall, easy and convenient experience.

Comment: We arrived at 3pm. Budget had triple the line sitx had. Budget had 2 employees while Sitx had 4 working the counter. Checkin was 20 minutes. I was glad I read the reviews about budget as it was def true. I was in and out with Sitx. I got a bmw 4 series and it was basically new and spotless.

Comment: This was my 1st time renting a vehicle thru Sixt. Tashas whole attitude was calming thru the chaotic ridiculous long line they had. I got up to the counter very frustrated and said My flight was shorter than the amount of time I spent in this line. She calmed me down and her attitude just put me in a better mood, she gave me a deal on an upgrade. I left the counter in a great mood after our interaction. Tasha know what exceptional customer service is. She may have single handedly stolen a loooong time Enterprise customer.Thanks Tasha!

Comment: The experience of renting a SIXT car was very smooth going. Rented a Camry but they gave me a BMW X3 instead. The bigger car gives a smoother drive especially on freeways and even on narrow road. However a bigger car also means my gas consumption increases. Will be good if there are more hybrids or EV alternatives. All in all I think SIXT is a good rental company.

Comment: This was my 4th time renting from Sixt, first time at SFO. The entire process from pickup to drop off was friendly and efficient and the car was in great condition. It had only a bit of curb rash on the wheels and no stains or odors. As always, I got it with a full tank. Reservations on the app are easy.

Comment: Good price for premium cars. Make sure you take pictures of car before leaving, as the check-in inspection at SFO was meticulous, but no review of the car with the attendant on check-out. Sixt needs to make this fair and real in terms of equal pre- and post-use inspections.

Comment: First car I reserved was a Tacoma and it was badly damaged so they switched it to a Jeep, because its didn’t display on the printout. Photos attached....But Policies do not mirror other rental car companies... if you return a car 21 hours early (a day early but three hours after rental time) they tell you, they cannot give you credit back so you should keep the car.... make sure you thoroughly check the car before renting.Also in Vegas they are not located with every other rental car agency they make you take another shuttle - so in Vegas you’ll take two shuttles Before you get to the counter...

Comment: First time dealing with sixt.Rented from San Diego, drove to San Francisco.Easy service at both locations. Upgraded our v6 mustang to the gt model, great decision, car was a weapon, perfect California road trip machine. Pricing was okay. You get what you pay for.Only gripe was the car wasnt perfectly clean, inside of the Windshield was gross, very evident at night and while driving into the sun.Other then that awesome experience, will use this service again 100%!

Comment: We had the chance to get our car to visit the California and the surrounded states here at the San Francisco. We booked a Mercedes CLA but at the counter they gave us a better car a brand new Volvo S60 T6, with 272 horse power and incredibly only 500 miles...so a new vehicle. The car had full optional, from the integrated Gps on board, to the ventilated seat, rear and front sensor ( and rear camera ) and the possibility to open the rooftop glass. We cannot expect any better. From what we have seen in San Francisco they have only new cars and also some luxury vehicles. Pickup and heck out have been very quick and smooth!! Next time worldwide we will choose sixt again!

Comment: Pros: Great prices. Large selection from low end cars to expensive ones. Great staff. Popular place, seemed busy. Complete history of all the imperfections in their car so you wont get blamed for.Cons:- Because its a popular place to rent cars, chances of getting lucky for a free upgrade is low.- Got the yellow Camaro RS 2018 and it was full of dents, scratch all over the car which was a bit embarrassing to drive around.

Comment: After a long flight we arrived at SFO, picked up our luggage and proceeded to the shuttles to get to the SIXT Rent a Car. Prior to this day, I have always rented with Hertz rent a car, because of this bad experience I will continue to be faithful to Hertz regardless of the prices. (You get what you pay for)Upon arrival, the attendant began to offer us upgrades for this much and that much, I said that I just wanted the car we rented originally or any upgrade offered without additional imposed fees. Then the attended was trying to convince us that going in a basic car to the hills and mountains in Napa was not a good idea and I started to laugh because there are very little hills in Napa, after all the place is called “Napa Valley”! We had no plans on going to any of the surrounding mountains.After we passed this obstacle the attendant discovered that my driver’s license was going to expire in a few days and couldn’t rent me the car under my name. So go figure, I was able to board an airplane a few minutes before, I had my US Passport just in case, I was even able to return home showing only my “expired Driver license” a few days after, and these people were not able to give me a car just because my driver license was going to expire… take into count that it was VALID in that particular moment.So I suggested the guy to add either my girlfriend or my brother as a driver and his answer was that the rate was going to increase dramatically because he will have to cancel the existing reservation and do a new one.Of course I got upset and I told this guy how unprofessional they were and how funny his blinking little eyes were! The guy then said the following: “Your reservation has being cancelled and security has been notified”.I took a picture of the ruthless “manager on duty” and one of the guys there violently proceeded to cover my phone as you may be able to see in one of the photos attached.To make a long and sad history short, we went to Budget and it took 10 minutes to be inside a nice car on our way to Napa Valley…

Comment: I LOVED Sixt! I made my reservation and paid ahead of time online, getting a very good rate on a PCAR. That class of car is a Mercedes CLA, Volvo S60, Volvo V60, or a Chrysler 300, or similar. I was hoping to get the Mercedes CLA sedan, but would have been fine with any other car. When I got to Sixt (I took the sky train to the shuttle area where a Sixt shuttle van was waiting on me--for free), there was no line! (I did take a late night flight--Im sure Sixt is busy during prime timehours).The agent, Kurt, checked me in and told me they were out of the car. I was thinking oh no, Im going to have to bump up and pay for another car, but Kurt bumped me up to a Volvo XC60 SUV for the same price! I think that the XC60 should have been a higher rate since it is an SUV, but Kurt matched my reservation price for the PCAR size. I was so impressed and thankful. The car drove well--only having 400 miles on it! I had it for 7 days and enjoyed it very much!I do understand everyones experience is different, but these negative reviews are kind of silly. Mad about paying for insurance? Deny it and use your own! Mad about the car not being available? Theyre busy and will get you another car! Mad about the $5.00 toll processing fee? Dont take a toll -- or just pay for the toll online ahead of time!Kurt explained everything to me so well that it is hard for me to accept these negative reviews as being 100% truthful.I am traveling to Atlanta in August and will most definitely use Sixt while I am there.Thanks!
