Comment: I rented a car from the Airport a Tesla for 1 week and then added one more day to it. And when it was returned, it was because the car was completely dead and when a Teslas dead. You cant even open the door at all and get into it. They said they would tow it and that would be that no extra charges. 6 days later, I receive a text saying, the car is 6 days overdue and my account is now negative 540. Something dollars. I called, I asked them to fix it. They said okay. We saw that you did call that day. It was brought back, they fixed it and now. 2 weeks later, all of a sudden, they charge my account another $540.Its negative $540 again.And I have to call and figure the whole thing out again.Absolutely.Ridiculous how much Time I have had to spend on the phone with them. Just to not be charged for 6 extra days. I did not get also I requested a lost item because some stuff was left in the car and the Tesla doesnt open anything when its dead. And I am pretty sure the towing company or somebody stole the hoverboard and backpack, which had valuable baseball basketball cards in it because they dont seem to find it in t

Comment: When arriving to the airport, the line was shockingly long for the shuttle to the rental car center, but the employees seemed to communicate this and activated more shuttle buses to arrive. Our wait ended up being about 20 min in line for the shuttle to get to the rental cars. Not an easy journey for those traveling with younger children, as you cannot keep them in their stroller on the shuttle bus. We thankfully go with National for car rentals, so once at the rental center, we were able to go right over and pick out a car instead of waiting in line.

However, you are completely on your own to locate signs to figure out how to get to the rental car shuttle to pick up your car.It would be amazing if the signs were more visible and easier to locate. The rental car shuttle drivers were helpful with your baggage, this was perhaps the easiest part of the rental car experience.Locating your actual rental car in the lot is the worst! Some of the signs are easy to find and others are non-existent.Thank God for the wonderful man that was in the lot who was willing to help me find my car. (He was a gift and kudos to him for going out of his way to rescue me!)Because the directions the guy at the counter gave me were not helpful and sent me in the opposite direction of where my car was located!It was all bad! Definitely NOT user friendly! The fact that each companys overlap only makes matters worse! There has to be a more strategic way to set up this location for ease of use for your customer!

Comment: The bus service to and from the rental car center is way short of buses. I know to leave 90 minutes in my schedule just to get to the terminal. Once in a while its 20 minutes. I always prepare for the worst because smf usually provides.I watched the driver being so rude I almost got in the middle of it. But guess what, I had a plane to catch. Now I feel like a punk for not defending the poor woman.

Returning the car was even faster. Always reserve your car ahead of time, and if you are reserving through a 3rd party, wait to get insurance for your rental and pay for it when you pick up your car.

Comment: Unfortunately the customer service at the Avis Rental counter was less than desirable because it appeared that the new employees had not been properly trained in there job and had to constantly contact the supervisor and get the proper information unfortunately it took as much as 55 minutes to get our rental car squared away and I really dont blame the customer service reps but I think that its the overall training that may be lacking at this facility otherwise we talked at the Sacramento Airport experience was fantastic and the shuttle service was very good as well I hope that they can fix their training issues which will increase their customer service results God bless you

They close ar midnight so if your flight delays, then you are screwed and stuck because it will be a ghost town when you arrive after 12 at the terminal. Learned this the hard way. Comment: This is probably more about the airport and layout for passengers to get to the Car Rental Terminal.Horrible sign placement and wording. Please Sacramento Airport planning dept. How do people know were theyre going for Rental Car tram, bus or off sight etc. Ive traveled non stop all over the world for work and vacation etc. and I couldnt believe signs with only Ground Transportation with no other explanation for Rental car etc. Takes you to the baggage claim and thats it.Youre looking around or having to ask the desk people which was empty by the way or find another employee for directions to the Rental Car bus and or is it off sight? What??I wasnt the only one either there were 10 other people looking for directions and all of them said the samething. Finally a lady helping a wheel chair passenger helps us and points.She even said this airport needs a better signage to show Rental Car customers the direction to go toWe thanked here for her helpfulness and there a small sign to the right of the door. This is bad layout. For a growing airport. Take a cue from Atlanta; SFO, LAX Chicago, New York and others!!Ground transportation under it post Rental Car under the heading, then another big sign like other airports do Car Rentals as your coming down the escalator turn left here. Comment: Reserved and ultimately was charged a full-size car even though I was actually given a mid-sized car to drive during my stay in Sacramento. This is what I believe to be in retaliation by the rep for refusing a gas guzzling SUV or a Charger that I felt uncomfortable driving. I rented from Enterprise throughout the years and from this branch 2 to 4 times per month. The rep was also unhappy with me for refusing their pre-paid gas fees and their insurance. I dont need their insurance since American Express offers me the same coverage for $15.95 per rental, not per day. So dissatisfied with Enterprise. All points and rental upgrades that have gone unused.

The attendant, Jas, was very understanding and sympathetic of my situation. Comment: Our experience was dreadful. The Rental Terminal is quite a way from the airport, so you need to take a shuttle. This is not obvious--and Im a native English speaker-- you need to discover somehow that you need to wait for a shuttle in the bus lane at street level. And wait we did. We waited for a half and hour, and finally a city shuttle took pity on us and took us to the terminal once it became clear that a shuttle was not coming anytime soon. We were grateful for that, but it seems that happens a lot. Once there, it was fine.

Comment: The rental car bus that goes to Terminal A for departing passengers drops off at only one stop which is a location for _arriving_ passengers. This means if you are departing, you will need to walk back about 1/4 of a mile, backtracking to take your bags to check-in. There could easily be a bus stop at the check-in location which would make the experience much better for all departing passengers. I gave feedback to the driver, and asked the driver to raise a request with management. In the meantime the driver is only allowed to stop in the one location. Since the drop of point is to far away from check-in and every departing passenger is impacted, giving one star rating.

Comment: After my recent trip to the SMF car rental terminal where I had pre-ordered a vehicle online and submitted the required information to avoid the inconvenience of having to wait in a long line and prolong my trip; my trip was set up for us to depart before 3:00 p.m. this afternoon. Unfortunately I walked into what looked like the welfare office on the 1st or 3rd of the month. Not to mention with an obvious shortage of staff and employees. Not only was I unable to acquire my vehicle but I had to reschedule my entire trip which resulted in the loss of multiple potential clients which ultimately resulted in a loss of income. I would be very surprised if the rental company took the intiative, and offered my family a discounted rate for the incovience. Comment: Smaller, older, but I find that SMS airports car rental terminal is very well organized and is normally very quick to get into a car after arriving to the terminal from the tram. But be warned, the rental car terminal trim, especially during covid precautions, is an excruciatingly long wait as buses. A routinely sent out far below maximum capacity.

Comment: When I picked up the vehicle the lady t the counter made me extra reach for everything and when complete told me the car is out that way. I walked around the building and saw 500 cars. After dragging my bags around I had to go back in to get proper instructions. LAZY WITH A CAPITAL L.Then dropping off the vehicle the security took up the only bench available to travelers. Then when asked by a customer where to drop the key he gave barely an answer. I guess he was there to keep the bench warm.

Comment: Quick and fast. The car rental is not connected to the terminal but is on the airport property. The shuttle bus was only a short drive and a very short wait for the shuttle to arrive. It is actually faster than walking (or moving sidewalk) that most airports use. I returned my car, checked out, waiting for the shutttle, everyone boarded, drove to the terminal, in under eight minutes. I gave myself way too much time. Comment: Over the years and in all the travel I do, SMF is the worst airport for transportation to and from the car rental facility. Sometimes you can wait up to a half hour before a bus arrives. Sometimes there are long lines to board a bus because they do not manage bus traffic based on demand. Yesterday, we had 70 people in front of us waiting for a bus to show up. Did I tell you that it was about 100 degrees outside? And, the line wrapped around the building. Whoever is in charge of the transportation should be fired and someone who can actually manage it properly be hired.

The Enterprise side of the renting building was moving very fast.The car I was given had dents and scratches all over, but since I it was what DoD lete have I had to take it. The noise this car was making while I was driving was so loud that the passengers on the back could not even hear the music. Comment: This was easy to figure out. The shuttle was conveniently located directly across from the exits. It was a short ride and all rental agents were all in the same building and easy to find. I even had the same wifi as in SMF.I used Enterprise. The agent helped quickly then another agent brought me to my van. It was seamless!I might suggest getting fuel elsewhere (I went to the town past the airport) as you can expect to pay a premium (on regular) at the station nearby.

Comment: It stunk on ice. You take a train from the terminal to catch a bus. Then, I had to wait in a LONG line for the 4th bus. THEN, the line was so long (at Budget) that it took 45 minutes to get my car. (Flying time from Seattle was 1 hour and 15 minutes). With such a long line, they only had one agent for the first half hour, and he took way too long with each person. (We all had reservations - it should be zip-zap-zop.) Then, you fend off the hard sell items that would nearly double the rental price. Oh, and if the gas tank isnt full when you return, its $9.99/ gallon.Their motivational sign said, Well get you moving in no time. If I had a Sharpie pen, I would have added, What part of No is it that you dont understand?

Comment: Requirements for payment and deposits are all different and very confusing. Counter cannot make adjustments to the reservation. They refer you to a customer service line. Nothing but inconvenience the entire time.

Comment: Avis Preferred is super convenient and efficient. It takes me minutes to get my keys and to my car. There was one time that I got the wrong credit card on file and they were super nice to help me change it out when I returned the car. Cars are always super clean and new. I recommend this everytime!

Comment: The line for the Budget rental car was at least fifty deep and there was only one person working the counter. There were no lines at any of the other rental car places so we went with one of those. Unfortunately we had to pay more money to do it but we did not have the time to wait in that line. FYI dont go with budget!

Comment: Nice car rental center. Enterprise was great. Very little time at the counter. Excellent customer service including walking me out to the vehicle and doing the walk through inspection together. Very helpful with unfamiliar features on the vehicle. Ill gladly use Enterprise again.

Comment: Busy place. I tend to use Budget or Enterprise. Advantage, I will never use again. Was quoted a price and when I went to the counter to get the car, they wanted about 3x the original quote. They said if I didnt take this or that add on, the price would just go up in a different area of the rental. The woman at the counter was very pushy and rude. Ive been renting cars for over 30 years and never encountered anything quite like that.

Comment: Effortless return! Staff have honed the process to a highly efficient flow where you simply park in a queue; leave the keys in the vehicle; and, while you grab your bags, an employee greets you and checks you in before you even have your carry-on slung over your shoulder! The shuttle to the terminal is only a short wait - shuttle drivers do vary in their degrees of helpfulness and hospitality (I observed that todays preferred to sit instead of help handicapped passengers with their bags)

Comment: Shuttle to rental cars is on the opposite entrance of where the down escalator leads you so dont be fooled into exiting where it says Ground Transportation. Look behind you and you will see a small sign on the far doors that indicate rental car shuttle Buses. They are big blue buses.Upon return its very easy to have your GPS get confused. Turn right off airport road afterthe way overpriced ARCO station.Turn left at the third road if you turn earlier you will end up on the backside of the lots and wont be able to enter

Comment: From what Ive experienced, the car rental terminal is convinient. The pick up and drop off at the rental terminal is a bit of cluster, and with increased volume, could be a real problem. Would be nice to see more signage in the airport terminal for the rental bus location. Finally, marking the rental car shuttle buses more precisely might help folks like me. There are a ton of buses though, so wait times are minimal and number of people on each bus is reasonable. Overall, the rental car system at SMF is pretty good; far far better than many other airports across the U.S.

Comment: While the signage for car return is a bit confusing (many companies return in the same area of the parking lot with only a small sign standing on the asphalt pointing to this one lane for this company and other small signs for other companies), the staff of the various companies are helpful in directing you to the correct lane. After finding the correct lane, return is rather smooth and quick. Taking the tansport bus to the terminals is also a quick and effortless process.

Might be better off taking an uber to another car rental place away from airport rental just to avoid the headaches.

Comment: All of the cars rental companies in one location = good. It can be a bit confusing getting into or out of three rental lot, they could use better signage.However, theyve been remodeling their lot for almost a year now, maybe it will be less confusing once complete.The shuttles used to be really regular, like every 5 minutes. Now they are really slow and always jam packed - if you see a full shuttle and think youll just wait for the next one, dont. They are all full all the tinge these days...

Comment: Ive always had pretty good customer service here. When I havent, a manager took care of it. Ive only ever used Enterprise here, so my customer service observations are limited to them. The major drawback to renting a car at SMF is the shuttle service. At peak times...the shuttles are packed - long lines to wait, then you might not get on the first shuttle if it fills up. Getting the shuttle after you drop off your car is even worse. Ive stood there while multiple shuttles drove by, were out of service, were drop off only, or what not. Its usually when youre running late, of course!

Comment: After being a loyal customer of Enterprise & having them refuse to rent to me because I did not have a major credit card (Ive always used my debit card) & they would not make an exception regardless of my rental history, I can clearly say I will never do business with them again or recommend them either. Avis/Budget saved the day for me & got me a rental. Thank you John, the wonderful employee who assisted me with me getting a vehicle to get to my destination. As for Enterprise I guess customer loyalty doesnt mean squat & they obviously do not care about their customers enough to make an exception to their ridiculous rules. #sacairportenterprisesucks#sacairportavisbudgetrentalsrocks

Comment: Worst experience I have had to date. First you have to wait in sweltering heat to catch a shuttle bus to rent a car. The shuttle is not air conditioned under maybe 88-90 degrees. When you finally arrive you find out that the rental car terminal is not air conditioned either. All of the rental car companies have their stock outside and if you are fair skinned you WILL be sunburned by the time you get into your vehicle.
