Prompt courteous service from a knowledgeable staff that goes out of its way to make sure you get the most out of your visit there. Wednesday (open 9-12) appears to be a good day to go. The wait time was about 15 minutes and staff spent about 40 minutes with me. I went in with a host of concerns all of which were more than adequately addressed. Highly recommend.
I waited an hour before my number was called because they were busy. However once I was called everyone I dealt with was not only efficient and knew what they were doing but were extremely pleasant to deal with. When I left there I had accomplished what I came there for. This was my second visit to this office within the last 5 years, both times they took care of what I went there for so that when I left it was done and over with. Thank you!
The wait time to file for social security benefits can run around 45 minutes. In general, this place has a nice look to it and customer service was knowledgeable and reassuring. One thing I strongly disliked is their hours of operation; I understand that budget cuts have put a strain on the government, but their hours are some of the most inconveniencing Ive ever seen. On most days theyre open from 9-3 (9-12 on Wednesdays), but then theyre closed through the weekend.
Went in on 3/9/2018. Full room of people waiting. We took our number referencing that we were doing a name change. After waiting an hour and watching tons of people come in and receiving help ahead of us I finally asked one of the workers what was going on, he said they gave our number to someone else. He then told me to take another number and start over. We left instead. DO NOT GO HERE IF TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE.
There was a 45 minute wait time so I selected to have someone call me back. From the second I answered the phone I knew this rep was horrible at her job. She was actually sighing on the phone!! Be respectful - it is simple. You are a government agency, I expect more of you. Huge disappointment.
I went to try to change my name on my lunch hour. I budgeted an hour and a half. When I came in there were 2 numbers on the screen they were Bs and Fs. During my 90+ minutes of waiting they selected only 3 numbers from the B line and more than 15 from the F line. I had to leave and now I will have to go somewhere else. The office was PACKED. There was no seating. The security guard told people not to chat because then you wont hear your number. Well, if Im stuck waiting in a building where I cant eat, cant drink, and now I cant talk, thats prison. That place was HORRIBLE. I will never go there or send anyone to that office.
Umm WTAF. This is a joke. No appointment capabilities. They don’t even call you in order. At the very least, call in some sort of order, so I know approximately the wait time so I can leave and try to come back in time for my number to be called. It’s been an hour and this could be done via mail if they weren’t so annoying!!!!
I found Customer Service to be HORRIBLE!!! To start not enough parking for customers but you have more than enough parking designated for employees so I had to park in curve of driveway hoping no one hits my car. Then u dont talk to anyone when u come in u go to a kiosk and get a number after waiting for an hour I was told I was at the wrong location I replied that would have been nice to know an hr ago in which I arrived at 2:00 and they close at 3:00. The representative replied by saying I wish I knew the 6 digits Saturday I wouldnt be standing here talking to u. I felt that was a totally offensive comment and definitely insensitive for 1 I dont grequent ss offices so I wasnt aware I had to go to an office in my zone I guess but this location is
Took a Friday off to change my maiden name to my married name. Husband took the morning off due to him loosing his card during a move and needing a replacement card. Went to the office to find they were closed. No reason was given on the nicely typed sign on the door. We decided to drive to the Livonia location so we would not have to to take more time off of work. They had a hand written note on their door stating they were having building issues. So here I am 3 weeks later..hard to convince work I needed more time off..to get to the Farmington Hills office again to find they are closed due to water damage in there half million dollar building! By the way. You can not change your name online. IT MUST BE DONE IN PERSON!!!
DO NOT GO HERE TO GET A REPLACEMENT SS card AFTER RENEWING YOUR DRIVERS LICENSE!! Went online and called in to clarify the documents that I will need to bring to get replacement SS card, all that was stated was that I need proof of identity and a driver license will work...After waiting over an hour in line I was turned away because my drivers license was void, I just had gotten my license renewed at the SOS earlier that day and it wasnt even expired. They believed it was a genuine ID and it was me in the picture but refused to help because the corner of the card was chopped off!! LMAO

2022-04-27These people are cruel. I had a newborn at home and the representative requested certain supporting documentation. After obtaining the document requested, the representative said it wasnt good enough and asked for additional paperwork. She forced me to lose my place in line after waiting outside in line early before business opening and being here for hours because she has a time quota. There was no compassion or customer service. Stay away!

2022-03-17What kind of people they have hired who doesnt even know how to talk when we need help! We called them 03/17/22 at 12:30 pm to get an update on SSN card, she just started rude, she doesnt have any info, she cant pull up anything.Then she started asking question to find out the status, when she couldnt found out anything after 5 min she came back asking about grandmas info which we never filled anywhere in my doc, I kind of took 2 sec break and she was like she cant wait too long, she doesnt have time to chitchat, she has other calls lined up I was like what the F* she stopped me at the middle. What a racist person she is! Stupid person doesnt understand that we wait in line about 15-20 min to get connected and she cant wait for 2 sec? I hope some up in the management sees this and get better customer service.

2022-03-07Wish I could give 0 stars. Theyve messed up so much of my info thats has almost gotten me in trouble. Also they didnt send me my new card and Ive been out of money for two months. Literally about to die, because you cant answer a phone for over two months straight.

2022-03-30Only made one attempt by phone to contact the office spoke to a gentleman was very very helpful and polite they answered the phone very promptly within 9 minutes would like to tell everyone there youre doing a great job and to the state this Livonia office is bleaps and bounds better than the Inkster office Thank you so much for helping me with my aunts paperwork

2021-08-31The absolute worst location. The auto attendant ends the call because no one answers the phone. I get COVID has changed things, it has for my work as well, but you arent seeing people in person anymore, you should be able to answer the phone. You cannot come to the office, they do not answer the phone. You have to mail all your personal documents (originals only) and wait hoping they made it. I recommend sending via certified mail.The only in person meetings are emergent and by that they mean non citizen issues, I asked.If in the rare chance you do speak to someone they cannot help you and take a message.I highly recommend the Redford location. The Redford staff answers the phone and they are kind and helpful. The issue I have been trying to get resolved for MONTHS with Livonia was solved in 2 minutes over the phone with the Redford office.

2022-06-12Came to this office after another office (Farmington Hills) told me I could change my entire name with a marriage certificate WITHOUT a judge’s order. Being at a Social Security Office, I trusted him. Quickly found out that you Can’t Do That. So...I have an incorrect social security card...and need to get a new one with my correct legal name...and let’s just say I’ve gotten 4 different explanations in 5 months and at four visits to two SS offices!! And I still don’t have my updated card. I was spoken to very rudely today and the clerk even tried to blame me not getting it on my mail lady, when a new request was never even generated in the system the last two times I was at a SS Office. This has been a very stressful situation all because an employee told me I could change my name anyway I wanted and then was the time to do it.

2021-10-29They force you to get an appointment by calling their number, then you have to hold 30 mins, and as soon as they pick up they literally hang up on you. Terrible backwards service for Uniter States of America. I feel like am receiving service in the least developed country on earth. What an embarrassment, lollll

2021-08-10This office is working remote during pandamic, I have been struggling to get simple no SSN certificate for my son who is on dependent visa to get driving license. This used to be simple 5 minute task before pandamic, but now I can only drop the application in drop box, but waiting for response for last 4 weeks. They dont pickup the call and not sure how I can get it resolved.

2021-12-16THIS OFFICE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN AND REPLACED WITH SOMETHING THAT ACTUALLY WORKS!!!! I’ve been trying to get a simple service for more than 4 months now and it’s impossible.
